G'day Peeps! I hope it is a SUNNY day for you all. I was for me, although the sky did get overcast late in the afternoon. I spent over an hour watering the yard yesterday, it was pretty dry. I came across a very pregnant Praying Mantis!![]() Love your NAC postings Deb, the Train (I'll hop on board) and the hearts on the nest. Good to hear Megan is feeling better. I've never heard of vinegar for reflux? Cheryl, dinasaur bones! Well, is my Monday and busy....

my DIL is making beans and ham tonight with cornbread - yummy - boy wish I was in OH for dinner - put that hot cornbread in a cold glass of milk and gobble that up .... took trin caching with us today and all was well until lunch - 2 dogs were at a nearby table as their family had lunch - trin was quiet under our table snoozing while we ate - another dog walked between the tables - started the other 2 barking - so Trin came flying out to see what was going on - somehow got turned around and our of her harness...... eeeeeeek I grabbed at her with my sandwich in hand - finally got a hold of her fur - spreading mayo all over her back ....... banged my knee as I tried to tackle her - oh boy oh boy.... how did she get out of that thing ..... it's a fairly new harness so we'll be going back to the old until I can check out a different type for her ..... got home and Trin and mommy had to have showers!last I talked with megan she was headed to the hospital to turn in the monitor --- no word since - I believe she'll be following up with her dr tomorrow...... but she said today was good with only one little episode this afternoon compared to all day yesterday! I've passed on everyone's wishes to her

Lily the Black Bear – UPDATE April 15, 2012 Did Lily and June know? ![]() Dot and the twin pines - April 15, 2012 Mid-morning today, June’s collision course toward Lily brought her within 300 yards of Lily. The wind was from the NE blowing from June to Lily. Lily and Faith vacated. Did they smell June? June was probably unaware. She and the yearlings held up at that point and spent the day there. Now June, Aster, and Aspen are headed back NNE. ![]() Dot's cubs high in a white pine - April 15, 2012 Dot did not return to her den and is definitely out and about with her 3 cubs. They are bedded at twin white pines—the favored refuge tree in this area. Jewel is bedded by cedars today—the second favorite refuge tree. A video of her first evening away from the den is posted on YouTube. On this rainy day, we made it an inside work day when 7 Lily Fans unexpectedly came to help install a big kitchen cabinet (made by 2 Lily Fans) and store many things in it. The many hands made light work of many tasks around the field station. Order is slowly emerging from the chaos. Thank you for all you do. —Lynn Rogers and Sue Mansfield, Biologists, Wildlife Research Institute and North American Bear Center |
