Poor NBG Dad! It looks like a female #5 is making a challenge for the nest. No sign of #4.

Possible New Intruder at NBG Eagle nest - #5 female ![]() ![]() Source Mr. Lukei: At this time this appears to be female #5. Last week and over the past weekend there has been an adult with no black in the tail flying over NBG. This may be that eagle. |

Wonderful news from CCB Richmond Nest 'The eagle parents returned to the nest at 7:30 this morning. Mom has been there almost all morning, and dad brought in 2 fish. Dr. Watts believes things will go back to normal here. Biologists will leave the site and Dr. Watts will be back mid-week to check on them. He will take photos when he feels it is safe to do so' Letter from Bryan Watts Center for Conservation Biology |

Penny, that's such great news about the Richmond nest! I saw that news scroll past on the NBG cam page but haven't been able to tear myself away. #5 is not there now though. She took off some time ago after watching overhead and then departing vocally. Then two adults were observed by ground observers flying high over the garden but they lost sight of them. Dad's holding his position at the nest on the "Love Branch". He seems to be watching overhead though.

#5 really oh my gosh Penny DD is doing very well - all seems to be settling - she'll be doing follow up and has changed her caffeine intake dramatically (and being sure not to get stressed at work) as it's believed those were the main culprits of what happened! ES has been invited to attend the AIA National Convention in DC in May - AIA will be acknowledgining the efforts of the architects in the work at the Twin Tower site as well as the architecture team working on Tower 1, etc. Spouses are invited to be a part of the ceremony on May 19. Soooo it looks like we'll be back from CA trip a few days and then off to DC! http://www.aia.org/press/AIAB093612 He's so excited as is the entire team! They really do work hard on this project! ![]() AND Tower 1 will soon be topping out AND they are working on arrangements for spouses to be able to go onto the site and visit Tower 1 - go inside! can't wait can't wait can't wait ![]() bet you can't guess that I'm super excited

Kris I just can't believe what has been going on at NBG this whole season...and some people were wondering how Pa would find a new mate ![]() Rhoda may need to re-title her 'As the Nest Turns' to 'The Never Ending Story' How's the Loch of Lowes osprey today? I haven't gone to check if she laid another egg. I was so happy to see your pic of the new male incubating the egg yesterday

Penny, I've barely looked in on Loch of Lowes since this NBG drama began today, but as far as I can tell no new eggs but the male is taking his incubating duties very seriously, bless his heart. He's been on the nest the two times I checked it this afternoon. If you see anything I miss let us know. I feel so bad for NBG Dad and for each ousted female in turn. Seems the males are the submissive ones and he's kind of at their mercy, and can just stay home to defend the nest for whoever proves to be the most dominant. This new #5 is so big I'm worried about how #4 will fare in a fight if it comes to that. Hopefully it won't. With rain coming for the next few days I have to tear myself away from the computer now and go do some things in the garden and with the Bird feeders in preparation. Just saw this on NBG Chat: By Reese: "The female in the nest this morning is the same female that was in the NBG nest on Mar 20 and 27, which is female #2. So not a new female, not #5." So it's not a new female afterall, but #2. Isn't that the one that had turned up and Dad flew in bonding with when #3 was the current female?

Kris I remembered that Pa Norfolk does not seem to 'like' #2 very much...she kind of forced him to perform ![]() for video of Pa and #2 Interacting (4:10) There is a huge size difference between them.It seems that every 8 days there is another female coming to this nest and none of them are staying to lay any eggs ![]() #3 comes back because Pa seemed to 'like' her best
