Happy Earth Day Cruzers

Interesting developments on the NBG nest today, but I'll leave the details to Penny. :ok:

Poor Phoebe suffered another nest attack today. After the one on Monday that dispersed her unfledged babies and destroyed the nest. She had just started to get settled into an older nest site when a Crow came in and attacked that one today! She's apparently okay but her nesting area seems under siege. :'(

A very disturbing week for some of the California nests. <:3 :candle:

Here's something inspiring of Earth's many wonders, with an image from it below. <3

Hi everybody and Happy Earth Day.

Praline, bravo once more .... your post says it all and in such a clever and charming way. :><: <3

Well done, Michele, on your Earth Day presentation yesterday. You select such appropriate poems with photos to match. :)^

We're heading out to another gardening centre, one we've never been to before.

.... and in honour of Earth Day ....

Ozzie, happy birthday wishes to your mom. She'll love the orchid. :bday:

Topa, Rachel is simply blooming. She must be worn out with Parent Week, I remember it well. I know you must be helping her at home so that she will be ready. Such an exciting time for your family!

Kris, I loved your pictures of Momma duck in her nest. :X: that it all works out well for her. Well done on your rescue of the baby blue tit. Your home must be a bird paradise. We don't have any sheep's wool although we have left out some soft grasses in piles that the birds are collecting.

Penny, all the bear photos of the mothers with their cubs are fantastic.

Time for a dog walk and then off we go to the gardening centre. I should be cleaning but whatever.

Cheryl, I found our Sheeps' Wool on eBay for less than two pounds in a search for "nesting material"! Shipping to Canada might add to the price a bit. A small independent UK Sheep tender sells his flock's wool for Bird nesting to help support his small flock. <3 We have seen tufts of wool in the fields where Sheep are kept but not in a great quantity and usually full of dirt and plant bits.

Ironically at about the same time, and unbeknownst to her about the Wool thing, for my birthday, among other gifts Lori had sent me was Patti Smith's new book, "Woolgathering". That's my precious Kid, so intuitive, soulful, and thoughtful.
