Good Morning Cruzers![]() This image is one of many I took in Los Feliz of a huge wall mural at a gas station where we filled up. It's just below the main road into the Griffith's Observatory. Fond memories ![]() It's a cool day here again and more of the same for tomorrow. Only 8C/46F for a high and it's cloudy too so this one just reminded me of California ![]() |

A thorny start to life: 8-week-old puppy found face-first in cactus ![]() He's had a thorny start to his young life - but here's hoping the future looks better for Cactus Jack. ![]() The eight-week-old Yorkie puppy was found face-first in a cholla cactus in Phoenix, Arizona. Passersby who found the Yorkie-terrier mix alerted the Arizona Humane Society - and got to work on removing the scores of spikes from his face. 'By the time we arrived on scene, the good Samaritans had actually removed him from the cactus and also removed about a five gallon bucket worth of spines,' Bretta Nelson from the AHS told Fox News Phoenix. He was then taken to the society's Second Chance Hospital where vets spent several hours removing the remaining fish-hook shaped spikes. Nelson added that the puppy was unaware of his prickly situation - and said he loved the attention. 'Our EMTs said the whole time he was just wagging his tail and when he was in the hospital getting them removed, he just hasn't missed a beat.' 'I don't even think he knows what a predicament he was in,' she added. Vets checked whether Cactus Jack's eyes had been scratched, but he did not sustain any permanent injuries. He is taking medication to fight any infections from the needles and is now recovering. The really great news is that he has already been adopted

Happy 4th Birthday Buddy You're a big boy now ![]() WVEC - Updated today at 11:07 AM NORFOLK -- What is it they say about children - they grow up so fast. It's the same for eagles, too. Four years ago today, April 27, the most famous eagle from Norfolk Botanical Garden was born. It's Hatch Day for Buddy, which had to be removed from the nest after contracting avian pox. The pox damaged his beak, making it impossible for Buddy to be returned to the wild. He's been at his permanent home at The Wildlife Center of Virginia in Waynesboro since then and has been training to be a wildlife ambassador. Should everything go as planned, Buddy will make his ambassador debut at the Norfolk Botanical Garden Eagle Festival on May 5. "For months, Center staff has been working to prepare Buddy for his appearance at the Garden's Eagle Festival. A Bald Eagle isn't the easiest bird to train, but we're hopeful that Buddy will be ready for his public debut," said spokesman Randy Huwa. The Festival includes demonstrations, live animals, booths showcasing arts and crafts, local organizations and events, birding supplies and equipment, great information on eagles, birds and their habitats. |

![]() Good afternoon, everybody. Topa, your presentation today is excellent. I watched the Montrose video once more. It covers the history of the BAEA on the Channel Islands so well. Your Smilebox presentations are always fun. I enjoyed the pictures and the perky music. Carole, the Ozarks eaglets all lined up and looking out at the landscape (or a parent) was my favourite one today. I'm glad that the Princess is doing well. It's too bad that she's all alone. Deb, Gary had the experience of a lifetime seeing the shuttle being transported like that. He got some fantastic photos! Happy Birthday to Buddy! Thanks for letting us know, Carole and Penny. <------ For you, Buddy!I think Steffani would agree .... "A Bald Eagle isn't the easiest bird to train, but we're hopeful that Buddy will be ready for his public debut," said spokesman Randy Huwa. |

Last night around suppertime a young raccoon wandered into our back yard from the woods behind. It looked cute and healthy. The dogs were inside but saw it and went berserk. Whippets don't usually bark but I guess Wynn didn't know that. The raccoon was about to climb up onto the deck but thought better of it when it heard Wynn's loud barking. Both of the dogs were jumping up and down in front of the window, boing, boing, boing. It was hilarious seeing the raccoon high-tailing it out of the yard with his/her waddling backside. No harm was done to anybody, it was just a critter moment. The dogs see rabbits and squirrels out in the yard but just watch them intensely. I don't know why they went so crazy over the raccoon.

Cheryl - What a cute critter moment for Wynn and Mia Maya is missing her gecko buddies, she would pace back and forth watching them from the screened in lanai. Sometimes they would crawl up the screen and she would lunge at them. I really think she would kill one the way she reacted on a leash when I walked her.
