There are going to be a lot of firsts for Avery. Avery's first walk around the block in her new stroller.

Hi everyone and happy Saturday. This morning we went to see the big machine that is going to harvest the trees in the regional forest behind our house. They even did a demonstration. Once the pine trees and invasive plants are removed they want to plant oak, maple and cherry trees. The machine is quite the contraption. It pulls the tree out by the roots, turns it sideways, and slices it into poles. Another vehicle will take the poles away. There will also be some wood chipping going on. We have the option of having the buckthorn trees behind our house just left there even though they are invasive. We like the wall of green. It would be a shock to have it gone completely. I'll have to post the photos later once Robert finds the camera cord. Lovely photo of Avery on her first walk. Michele, you find the best eagle poems! I know how difficult it is to locate them because I've tried myself. Bravo on another presentation that shows how the eagles are woven right into the fabric of America. |

It's been a crazy week catching up with medical appointments. Dentist on Tuesday and yearly physical on Thursday. After the doctor I went to the lab for the bloodwork and ECG and there were 20 people waiting in line. I immediately left and decided to go early this morning. Was at the lab at 7:45 as they open at 8:00 and there were only 6 people ahead of me so all worked out well and I was home by 8:30 anxiously awaiting for my coffee to perk. Will have these results next week. Now it's on to the x-ray lab for a bone density scan and back x-rays next Thursday. My back has really been giving me problems so doctor wants to check it out before he sends me for an MRI. Oh the joys of getting older

Penny - Just catching up with yesterday's posts and so happy to hear that the lawsuit may finally be settled. It's dragged on for so long, I hope everything works out well in your favour and you can finally reap the benefits of your settlement.

Eagle Chat Room > Saturday 11:30 AM, Harmons Status Julie from the Raptor Center was grateful enough to take some time from her schedule to provide us with an update. Harmon was brought in, fed and cleaned up. He was given vitamins and I think she said antibiotics too. They say he is doing well and this morning was calling for food. The Raptor Center has been in discussions with the DNR for most of the morning evaluating and trying to formulate a plan. Some good news is that he was tested for levels of lead and while there were traces, it was at such a low level there is no reason for concern regarding lead poisoning. Things that are being weighed, Returning the eaglet to the nest is the most desirable path, but time is the foe. In order to return he has to be healthy and that takes time, on the other hand there is a real risk that the parents will move on. Placing him in a foster nest, this is done often but not at his age. The stage of development he is in is also a very vulnerable stage for the age of any eagle nest, thus inserting Harmon into a new nest may cause the parents to abandon the nest and would put the other eaglets in jeopardy as well. Foster home, if health or timing of nature prevent the eaglet from going back home, the Raptor Center will work to find a foster home where he can be raised in good health. We should all be impressed with the complexity of the situation and trust in the decisions made by these very qualified and experienced people at the Raptor center and the DNR. Stay tuned for further updates, I expect to speak with Julie again in the late afternoon early evening today. |
