Hi everybody. I actually went out today, wow - hair appointment and shopping. My car hasn't been driven for a month. There's no sense buying a new one, even though it's 12 years old. It's my millennium car and I'm kind-of attached to it. Topa, your slideshow was such a pleasure with all the photos and information, as well as the music. Your theme was such a good choice with the loss of Maurice Sendak this week. You and Regan look good together. Good luck with your open house, Kath. Maybe it's over by now. Nice pastel colours in your sunrise photo. I'll have a look at the rare frog information. Kris, I don't think I ever read "In the Night Kitchen" to the boys although I still have our copy of "Where the Wild Things Are". The female rose-breasted grosbeak has been at our feeder as well as two males. Jeanne, enjoy your road trip. Maybe you'll have some photos or sketches to share with us. Susan did a fantastic job on the Shopping Channel again tonight. I also saw Carole's other daughter and her granddaughter as two of the three lovely and natural models! The show host, Richard, even wore an aqua shirt to match Susan's colour theme. |

We'd had this cactus inside at the kitchen window for years. I finally decided to re-pot it & move it outside. A couple more years went by & it finally produced flowers to our surprise-

Lily the Black Bear – UPDATE May 11, 2012 More break-ups ![]() Braveheart on her own... following scents - May 11, 2012 Braveheart split from her yearlings about 5 AM today. Three hours later, she was on the move and ignoring everything except scents on the ground, on branches, and in the air. In the afternoon, we saw her yearling male Cedar extremely nervous on this windy day. Every gust of wind made him look quickly around and move to the base of a white pine. He ended up spending much of the afternoon high in a white pine as we often see yearlings do in the days right after family breakup. We also saw Bow’s yearling male Drew alone and very skittish—making us tentatively believe Bow has split from her yearlings, too. Jo and Victoria were seen still together yesterday. We’re waiting to spot Shadow, Donna, and Shannon to learn their stories. Tomorrow, we’ll check on June to see if she is still with Aster. Her yearling male Aspen left 3 days ago (May 8). Thank you for all you do. —Lynn Rogers and Sue Mansfield, Biologists, Wildlife Research Institute and North American Bear Center |
