I think you'll like this. But the true question is, would " I do the same things, make the same mistakes and , other than age,. be the same as I am? I suspect if we went back all would be the same. Only with age comes wisdom. If I would be 18 now, no, I wouldn't go back."

DH took me out for a Mother's day brunch today only it didn't turn out that way

I was going to add some :clk: 's but they really didn't turn out very good :P

First stop was to a rather upscale restaurant we had never gone to before. Reservations were for the 2:00 PM seating. Got there, nobody to greet us, so DH went looking and found a waiter who was rather curt and told us to wait, so we did and then eventually a young lady showed up, checked the computer and ushered us through a practically empty dining area. She left without saying anything so after some minutes rolled by DH goes looking for a waiter who informs us we won't be able to get omelets because it is after 2:00. DH had checked that everything would still be available before we went. We decide to take a look at the brunch offerings and right then we knew we weren't staying. All there was on the steam table was scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, ham, pancakes and a few awful looking macaroni type salads. There was also some pitiful looking cookies and mini muffins, all for $49.95 per person, not including beverages. All of that food looked really inedible  Never going back there and if we had seen this Sydney's Video Tour first we never would have made a reservation

Next stop, across the street to a hotel with a great restaurant and there the brunch offerings were totally fantastic and for $41.95 per person, everything you could think of; grilled veggies, every kind of salad, omelets made to order, french toast, waffles, assorted meats, fantastic cheesecakes, chocolate dipped tuxedo strawberries, etc.etc.etc. so we go to get seated. Then we are told we would have to sit outside on the patio because they were closing the main dining area...at 2:30!!! We opted to leave because even though it was beautiful temperature wise, it was a pretty windy day and it was dusty and quite noisy with tourist and city buses going by constantly.

So, quite nearby there was a Pancake House with no lineups because it was well past lunch by then and that's where we finally ate a 'Giant Veggie & Cheese Pancake. Oven baked with Mushrooms, Peppers, Onions, Tomatoes, and Cheddar Cheese. (No cheese for DH) A fresh pot of coffee and the whole thing was leas than $30 for the two of us and I brought half of mine home. Service was excellent. Food was delicious and we will go back again. :D

Lily the Black Bear – UPDATE May 13, 2012

Mother’s Day

Cub Sybil on Juliet's back! - May 13, 2012

Lynn wanted to spend time with his wife Donna, so they started early—4:30 AM—in an attempt to capture nature sounds on this windless morning. The warblers are back in numbers. Beautiful little birds twittering in bird language in the backwoods, far enough from highways and lakes to avoid the sounds of motors. The idea, in partnership with expert soundman Martyn Stewart, is to give future visitors to the new Hope Education Building (now in design) a feel for the sounds as well as the beauty of the black bears’ world.

Inside the BBC satellite transmission truck - Phil Jennings and Donna Dixon - May 13, 2012

At 2 PM, about 40 of us gathered to watch today’s episode of Planet Earth Live. We clapped at the end, feeling gratitude to the entire BBC team of 30 people for expertly summarizing our information to make the program educational as well as beautiful and entertaining. It’s what we’ve come to expect of the BBC. We have posted the program schedule on Lily the Black Bear Facebook page and have updated the one on bear.org.

We were also happy to see Emma Cox’s article about the show in the British tabloid newspaper The Sun. She tempered the tabloid approach with sound information to put black bears in proper perspective. More education for us to be thankful for.

Inside the BBC satellite transmission truck - Ben, Mike, and Dan - May 13, 2012

Meanwhile, a BBC film team that included Jason Sawyer, who some of you will remember from his cold snowmobile trips to maintain Lily’s Den Cam in 2011, documented that June’s estrus condition has progressed. We expect her to split from yearling Aster soon. At 4:20 PM today, Donna was still with all 3 of her yearlings. A few days ago we reported that Bow’s male Drew was alone and skittish. This evening we saw Bow still with her female yearling Daisy. Seems Bow’s family is taking a similar approach to family breakup as June’s.

Another video of Jewel and cubs from April 28 is posted on YouTube.

At the same time, a team of volunteers is making progress on the Speakers Bureau that is growing out of the Education Outreach program.

Thank you for all you do.
