VENGEANCE was finally here, it was going to be one long night of back to back incredible matches brought to you by the three brands of WWE Rebellion. However, despite Smackdown and Anarchy sending their best superstars to battle it out for their respective brand World Championships, you can't act as if Monday Night RAW's main event match hasn't been the most anticipated since it's announcement. The first ever WWE Undisputed Champion, Chris Jericho takes on, former ten time WWE Champion, ' The CeNation Commander-in-Chief ' himself, John Cena, with one goal at quest - walking out of the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas with the WWE's most profound title, the WWE Championship. So with two of the WWE's greatest athletes and the beer-drinkin', hell-raisin', Texas Rattlesnake himself calling the match straight down the middle, there's no surprise why this match closes out the first pay-per-view of the Rebellion Era and no reason why this match won't be an bonafide, instant classic. The scene opens up showing an replay of an old match up, it was footage from WWE's first ever Vengeance pay-per-view event in 2001, both The Rock and Chris Jericho had been in the ring, a distraction by WWE owner, Vincent Kennedy McMahon failed miserably as The Rock knocked Mr. McMahon from off of the edge of the ring with a punch, landing him straight down to the concrete floor that surrounded the ring. Chris Jericho sought out to take advantage of the slightly distracted World Champion, but The Rock was a step ahead of him, connecting with his signature spinebuster, laying Chris Jericho flat on the mat. The Rock then looked to end this match now, going for the People's Elbow, but Vince McMahon would once again caused a distraction - this time, more than enough time for Chris Jericho to catch the Rock off guard, connecting with an low-blow and eventually, defeating The Rock after connecting with The Rock's own maneuver, the 'Rock Bottom' and becoming the new World Champion. However, that night wasn't over for Chris Jericho, he was scheduled for yet another match, he was exhausted and worn out from the match with the Rock and now had to deal with a more ruthless opponent, the Texas Rattle Snake, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. Austin seemed to have taken complete control of the match to the point where it was believed he had won, after locking Chris Jericho in his own finishing move, the Walls of Jericho and making him tap out but due to the fact that the referee was unaware of this after getting knocked out, the match was never ended. So with the match still on as the referee was still recouping and Austin still had Jericho locked into the Walls of Jericho, as well as Jericho still proceeding to tap out - neither of the three men were aware of what was going to take place seconds later. Booker T rushed into the ring, knocking Austin in the back of his head with the World title, knocking him out cold, the referee re-entered the ring, not seeing a thing, as Jericho slowly made his way towards Austin's motionless body and pinned him for the three count. At this very moment, Chris Jericho created history, he had been the first ever WWE Undisputed Champion that the WWE had ever taken record of. This moment always remained the greatest moment ever, career wise for Chris Jericho and Vengeance 2001, would remain the greatest pay-per-view event for Chris Jericho. In a special 'behind the scenes' type interview to promote the upcoming, return of the Vengeance pay-per-view, with WWE Hall of Fame inductee of the 2007 class, Jim Ross, Chris Jericho spoke on that never forgetting moment of the past. good ol' J.R -- JIM ROSS. ;; 'When you re-watch that old footage, do you get that feeling again, that Chris Jericho 'King of the World' feeling you had when you held both the World and WWE titles ? ' Chris grins as memories of how even more arrogant ' Chris Jericho ' became once he had won both titles, he spoke, replying to J.R's question, the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'Absolutely. Every time I see those two particular matches and remember the enjoyable moments I had with holding both titles around and the great amount of bragging rights I had after defeating two 'legends' makes me feel like 'King of the World' all over again. ' From the past onto the present day, the WWE's members of the Board of Directors, decided on bringing back the Vengeance pay-per-view event name after it had changed to 'Night of Champions' a few years ago. Most people didn't really care for these pay-per-view events that weren't Wrestlemania but to Chris Jericho, Vengeance was his own personal Wrestlemania and this year, ten years later since winning the Undisputed Championship, he had a chance to make another great career moment at Vengeance. good ol' J.R -- JIM ROSS. ;; 'Alright, now we fast forward to ten years later and now you'll be main eventing this years, Vengeance event, in a WWE title match against, John Cena. Now, of course now you know with such a big event this will be, with it being the actual first pay-per-view event for WWE Rebellion, there has been some rumors that have come up. ' Chris smirks, thinking what would the world of wrestling be without rumors, when you have thousands of websites claiming to having sources who know everything about something, Chris replies sarcastically, the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'Is that so ? Please, inform myself and everyone else who will watch this interview on such rumors.' Ross chuckles before eventually getting onto the rumor, good ol' J.R -- JIM ROSS. ;; 'From my understanding, your feud with John Cena is actually personal, apparently you two have a great disliking for each other, beyond the ring. Well, I'm sure this has been a rumor that a lot of superstars in the WWE have been associated with because there is in fact a number of guys who don't feel as if John is where he should be. ' The smirk remained on the face of Chris Jericho, as far as he knows, he had nothing against John Cena, beyond the ring and their current feud that was being portrayed on RAW. the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'Really ? That's news to me. I mean, I don't hate Cena, I may not like a few things about him, I might think he's a tad bit overrated and don't really understand how he's already an twelve time World Champion, when there's been better superstars who've deserved to come as close to Ric Flair's World title reigns record, as Cena has. But to be totally honest, if Cena does tie or break the record, really should bother anyone, records were meant to eventually be broken and we all know who was the better champion. However, I'm still letting it be known now that, Sunday at Vengeance, he won't be getting his thirteenth World title reign. ' After recent comments by Chavo Guerrero, about him no longer being interested in wrestling if John Cena were to have break Flair's record caused many other people to agree, it was expected that this question would come up soon to Chris, seeing as he was facing Cena for the WWE title. Chris kept it professional and truthful, Ross spoke once again. good ol' J.R -- JIM ROSS. ;; 'One last question before we end this interview session, when the main event match between yourself and John Cena is all over, let's say you do become successful and win the WWE title, do we get to potentially see a return of 'Y2J' or is the 'angry man in a suit' here to stay ? ' Chris chuckles, he was obviously more so well known for his Y2J gimmick, a superstar well known for his great charisma in the ring as well as on the microphone and whether he was heel or face, a majority of the fans still enjoyed his antics. At first, Chris wasn't too much of a fan of the 'angry man in a suit' gimmick but, its been growing on him. the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'You know, I've been thinking about letting my hair grow out, heading to the ring, referring to the fans as 'Jericholics' instead of 'parasites', calling my opponents 'assclowns' instead of 'germ incubators'. But, I'm not sure yet, those suits are pretty comfortable, so for the time being, WWE Champion or not, the 'Angry man in a suit', the 'most honest man', the 'best in the world at what he does', yeah that guy, he's here to stay.' Both men laughed on Jericho's comments, as the interview came to an end, with both shaking hands, as Jim Ross was scheduled to interview another superstar for this Vengeance promoting mini-series. It was Sunday Night, the Vengeance pay-per-view was already underway, with the Monday Night RAW and Friday Night Smackdown, battle royal having just ended, the cameras were backstage, in the office of RAW General Manager, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, where he and the Chief Operating Officer, Triple H were in the middle of an conversation, a conversation which wouldn't last long as Chris Jericho had entered the officer, without knocking and unseen by the two as well. He stood in the office and cleared his throat, gaining the attention of both men. With a sly grin on his face, Chris Jericho spoke, the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'You know Austin, it doesn't at all, not at the slightest surprise me that you'd make yourself the 'special guest enforcer' for my match tonight. It's quite obvious that you still hate the fact that, at this same pay-per-view event in 2001, I pinned you for the full three count to win your WWE title, ending your title reign and starting my own reign. Steve, it's rather pathetic of you but I'm just letting you know that, you're placing yourself in an position where, technically anything can happen to you, during or after the match. ' Steve Austin takes a few steps towards Chris Jericho, both men are standing face to face, as Austin speaks, the texas rattle snake -- STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN. ;; 'Is that a threat, boy ? I'm really hoping it was, so I can have a legitimate reason for opening a can a whoop-ass on you right here, right now. ' The excitement from the fans could be heard all the way from the arena after what Austin had just said, as Triple H comes in-between both men before anything takes place in this office that shouldn't as he then speaks, the game -- TRIPLE H. ;; 'Come On Steve, you know this is typical whining of Jericho.' Chris Jericho turns his attention to Triple H after his smartass comment, Chris speaks, the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'Really ? The C.O.O himself, Triple H speaking on what obviously doesn't concern him ? Hunter, are you jealous as well ? Upset at the fact of how I was easily able to defeat Edge and send him to that second rate brand, Smackdown and now you're struggling with him ? Watch some of my matches before your match, take some notes, junior. Or has this new title of being C.O.O made you believe that your seemingly untouchable ? I personally don't care if you're the C.O.O, C.E.O, C.F.O or the damn owner of this company, I was the first ever Undisputed Champion, the one moment in the history of this company to still keep it around.' Triple H sighs seeing as a back and forth with Jericho was becoming inevitable, he spoke in reply to Jericho the game -- TRIPLE H. ;; 'Oh Chris, you just enjoy bringing up that short, Undisputed Championship title reign. So how about we talk about it, you remember who ended that title reign Chris ? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was me, at Wrestlemania 18.' Chris, unimpressed by Triple H's actual factual statement, brought up a fact of his own the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'That may be right but, my short title reign as the Undisputed Champion, was still longer than your less than four week reign before you lost the title to a damn near fifty year old Hulk Hogan. So not only were you a worthless champion, the passed on the title to an even more worthless champion. And tonight, Austin, if you decide not to call this match fairly and award the WWE title to John Cena, who's twelve World title reigns have been worthless disasters to this company, I'm going to have to ..' Before Jericho could continue, he was cut off by Stone Cold, the texas rattle snake -- STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN. ;; 'What ? ' the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; ' I'm going to have to ..' Once again, the Texas Rattle Snake cut Jericho off, this time with the crowd being heard as they join in, repeating Austin's signature, the texas rattle snake -- STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN. ;; 'What ? ' Chris shakes his head, as he turns his back to Austin and eventually leaves the office, feeling quite stupid for even falling for that, as the scene came to an end. Coming within moments after leaving the office of RAW GM, Steve Austin, cameras continued to follow a furious Chris Jericho looked for someone to who'd listen to his complaints about his match tonight and he found that person, easily. Chris spoke, directing his words to a person who's back was facing him but he had recognized who the person was already. the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'Hey you idiot, come here and do one of your interview things that you do.' The person turns around, revealing that it had been RAW's own backstage interviewer, Josh Matthews who spoke back backstage interviewer -- JOSH MATTHEWS. ;; 'Uh well, I wasn't scheduled to interview you until later but I guess, we can make it now. Alright, tonight I'm sure its known you'll be facing off against John Cena for the WWE title, your thoughts going into this match ?' the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'My thoughts ? You wanna know what my thoughts are Josh ? They're the same as they've always been since it became clear that this match would be taking place and that is, that John Cena doesn't deserve to be in this match, not one bit. Of course if it wasn't because the incompetent referees who are hired by this company, tonight these parasites around this arena would be treated to a match of the year type of match, Chris Jericho vs. The Miz. However, that isn't the case, tonight I have to embarrass John Cena infront of the million of parasites he continues to be a germ incubator towards. Tonight, its as clear as can be, I will not lose, that's my one and only thought.' As expected, Chris continues with his downplays of Cena having a chance at winning this match, Josh continues on to a next question, backstage interviewer -- JOSH MATTHEWS. ;; 'Well Chris, you've continued to stick by your belief of John Cena not being able to win tonight, but in all honesty, the odds are kind of against you Chris. You lost to John Cena and Kurt Angle in a past week tag team match and on top of that the General Manager of RAW, Stone Cold himself will be the special guest enforcer, how do you remain so confident ?' Chris stares at Josh, glaring him down as he had just listened to his pathetic question, Jericho answered the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'What are you trying to say Josh, that I won't win tonight, huh ? Because Cena was able to pick up a fluke win over myself and The Miz this past RAW, that all of a sudden guarantees him winning the WWE title tonight ? Or Because Stone Cold Steve Austin decides that he's so full of himself and the spotlight which should be on me, has to focus on him tonight ? Is that your reasons behind your questions, Josh ? Let me be the first to tell you that you are a stupid man! Let it be clear that as I said to Austin himself, no one's going to stop me from winning the WWE title. I DESERVE the WWE title! I am the best in the world at what I do, I'm better than each an every superstar in this damn arena and tonight, the WWE title comes to the hands of the most righteous man this company has ever seen.' Before Josh could think of asking another question, Jericho shifted off onto the other direction as he headed off to elsewhere, it was seemingly expected that he'd take a break before his match in his locker room but the way Chris Jericho was headed was surely not in direction of the locker room area, Chris Jericho was heading in the direction that'd best lead him to the ring - it seems Chris Jericho wanted a bigger audience to hear what he had to say about his opponent. After yet another match had been finished wrapping him, ' Break the Walls Down' blared over the PA system, sparking an immediate negative reaction from the crowd, as the fans in attendance booed as loud as they could. Chris Jericho made his way out to the entrance ramp, more so still in his bad mood for tonight. For someone who's been making this prediction of winning the WWE title tonight, he surely didn't seem too happy about it. Jericho made his way down the entrance ramp, before grabbing a microphone out of the hands of the ring announcer and thus, entering the ring. With his theme fading into the background and the brainless fans at least showing some type of respect in allowing him to speak, he did so, raising the microphone close to his mouth as he began to speak, the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'As a man who displays nothing but honesty when he speaks, its fortunate for you all that I come out here and make it aware of something I've realized. Do you want to know what John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin and you all have in common ? You're all afraid and petrified because you know I'm going to win the WWE title tonight. Why does that scare you all ? Because, I'll prove each and everyone of you parasites wrong, you chant these stupid words at me and choose not to believe me when I say that I am the best in the world at what I do, but once the WWE title is in my possession, you all will come back, crawling, begging and pleading for my forgiveness when I take over not just Monday Night RAW but this entire company. Because you see, whether you like it or not, I become the face of this business.' the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'Have you all forgotten that when I made my debut here, I single handedly turn things around for the WWE, instead of making it the mockery of professional wrestling that it is today ? You know who you have to thank for that ? John Cena. Cena has single-handedly made a disaster of this company, last I remembered being entertained by John Cena was when he was coming out here, sporting a sport jersey and backwards hat, rapping. But even then, John Cena had no real talent but soon, he learned a perfect talent. A talent that would get him where he is now, that talent was puckering his lips to kiss the ass of Vince McMahon. But you supporters of John Cena look at me as if I'm crazy, but face the facts, tell me the last superstar to have had the so called 'accomplishment's' John Cena has, within a nine year span of being in this company ? Don't worry, I'll wait for the answer. .' Chris Jericho lowers the microphone, in act of actually waiting for someone to answer his question, of questioning the legitimacy of how Cena has risen to where he currently is. the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'Let's make a quick comparison, when it comes to kissing Vince McMahon's ass, besides Cena no one else is known for doing it better than Triple H. In Cena has been under contract with this company for nine years and has ten World title reigns, in Triple H's first nine years with this company, he had one reign less than Cena has now.' the best in the world -- CHRIS JERICHO. ;; 'I was never one to ever suck up to anyone and never will I choose to do so. Tonight, I'm doing something that's rare within this shady business, I'm going to win the WWE title without any help and when I do, I'm going to enjoy looking at all the shocked faces of all your parasites. What I'm going to enjoy the most however, is John Cena being laid out flat in the middle of this very ring, after having just tapped out to the Walls of Jericho, or even becoming yet another victim of the great, Codebreaker, that will be a 'Kodak moment'. But not a better moment than when I stand over his motionless body, raising MY WWE Championship title in the air while you parasites, praise and bow down to me and finally, admit what you've all doubted, that Chris Jericho is indeed, the Best in the World, at what he does.' ' Break the Walls Down' replayed over the PA system, as Chris Jericho exited out of the ring, with the fans continuing to boo him, as cameras headed backstage, bringing an end to the scene. As the main event, WWE title match between Chris Jericho and John Cena nears, the anticipation grows. The odds seem to be staked against both men, but of course only one man can walk out of this arena, not just the winner of the match but the WWE Champion. A goal which both men have been waiting to accomplish for weeks now. However, for Chris Jericho it's more than just an a WWE title match, the greatest moment in his career happened at Vengeance and having gone through multiple World Heavyweight title reigns, he wants to once again hold the title with the most background WWE history, the WWE title. |
