 Isolationism Over In a shocking turn of events President Elect Antonio Cervantes has convinced Congress to repeal The Self-Dependence Act. The Self-Dependence Act was instituted in 1842, 3 months after the True Revolution. The Act forbid international trade, immigration, emigration, and prohibited the government from having diplomatic ties with other nations. With this act repealed Albanor has taken its first step onto the world stage. Chairman of The Isolationist Party, Thomas Cork, had this to say "We will explore every option to reinstate The Self-Dependence Act, it is the only way to preserve our culture and protect our nation". Football Fever In other news Albanor has chosen to participate in the IFFA World Cup. IFFA World Cup Update The National Albanor Football Team lost its game with Elpidia and has fallen to 10th place. Its next match will be against the team from KaiserAdolf. We hope you join the Albanor National News Team in wishing our players good luck in the next round.

Vicarious Collapses This is the Albanor News Network coming to you live to tell you that the Empire of Vicarious has fallen. We have received little information on the subject so the cause this rapid and shocking collapse is, at this time, unknown. The Republic of Albanor had no diplomatic relations with Vicarious, but it is the President's wishes that we keep the Vicarians in our prayers as they struggle to find their future. IFFA World Cup Update Unfortunately, The National Albanor Football Team lost its second game in a row and fallen to 13th place, things are not looking good for our team. The score was KaiserAdolf-2 Albanor-1. Its next game, and hopefully its first victory, is against the team from Kiylo. Spoiler: click to toggle

IFFA World Cup Update The game between Albanor and Kiylo has resulted in a tie with a score of 3 to 3. Albanor has moved up to 12th place and Kiylo has fallen to 4th place. When asked about how he felt about the game Head Coach Greg Edwards had this to say "At least we didn't lose". Albanor Pledges Support Tonight our regular programming is rescheduled for a speech from the President. "My fellow countrymen, at this time we do not know if the attempt on the Empress' life was orchestrated by the Thematan government and until we have definitive proof to the contrary Themata is innocent. It is our duty as a nation to stand for, and in the defense of, justice and morale rightness. Because of this I have vowed to act in the defense of Themata if conflict ensues before the truth is known. I wish to assure my fellow Albanorans that our sons and daughters will not be sent to fight on foreign soil without good reason, however I have informed the military to remain in state of alertness until the situation has been resolved. Finally, I would like to express my disapproval of the CSTO's handling of the situation. The mobilization of the Rokkenjiman military was unprovoked, unnecessary, and foolish. Furthermore the other members of the CSTO seemed too willing to go to war before knowing the full story, or as I would say "leaping before looking". "I wish all of you a goodnight, and I ask you to pray for a peaceful reso-" Before he can finish an aid runs onstage on whispers in his ear, he nods grimly and dismisses the aid before once again addressing the nation. "Unfortunately, it is my sad duty to inform you that Frontrunner Harris Hamtin, the leader of Themata, has been killed. He was entering his home when he was struck by a hollow-point round in the chest. We know that the assassination was carried out in a similar way as the assassination attempt on Empress Beatrice. It is possible that the terrorist organization known as "Liberty" is behind the attacks, but we cannot be certain." "That is all, goodnight" |

Against All Tyrants Following the ultimatum delivered by the CSTO and Empress Beatrice's unwillingness to solve the issue in Themata diplomatically, Albanor has entered into a military alliance with Great Jonathania and Themata. The President said that the Empress was unwillingly to acknowledge the CSTO aggressive nature and wrongdoings. The President also condemned the Joint Statement issued by the CSTO calling it a "Glorified Threat". Secretary General of Defense Jon Allen said he instructed the military to carry out the preliminary stages of mobilization. He also issued this statement, "We don't want a war, but we will not be bullied. We will stand in the defense of a fellow republic against those who would see it destroyed", he went as far as to call Empress Beatrice a "hypocrite" and "a wolf in sheep's clothing". Military Update The conflict in Themata shows no signs of calming down as CSTO forces and civil war continue to hammer away at the Thematan military. Congress voted almost unanimously to withdraw military support after the atrocities occurring in Themata came to light. Congress is, however, also unwilling to aid the predominantly communist rebels out of concern that a communist regime would bring more oppression, not less "Instead of being enslaved by corporations they will be enslaved by the state, they are trading one master for another" said Secretary of Foreign Relations Peter Jones. In other military news a force of just over 13,000 men have arrived in New Cape May in Great Jonathania to assist the Jonathanians in reclaiming their nation from the Potenstologist Cult. The leader of the cult has declared himself Poten Peter I and has renamed the country Potenstania. On top of that the President has announced a "Zone of Albanoran Intervention" The President stated that "Albanor reserves the right to intervene militarily in any area located within the zone in order to promote regional prosperity and safety" Spoiler: click to toggle

Zone of Albanoran Intervention Update After the anger sparked by the Presidents announcement of an Albanoran Zone of Intervention the President released a statement clarifying the decision. "The zone is not meant to be an act of aggression, the zone is meant to state where Albanor is willing to use military intervention. I feel as though it was misunderstood. We will not invade foreign sovereignties on a whim, what I was referring to are events like those occurring in Great Jonathania and Tristantia. We have militarily intervened in Great Jonathania and are assisting the legitimate government in reclaiming their nation from militant cultists. If and when the situation was resolved it was my intent and the intent of congress to offer our help to the Tristantian government in their fight against rebels. I am aware of the response of the Lord Protector of Elpidia which was "The President of Albanor has grossly overstepped the boundaries of international law with this declaration. I state for the world that Elpidia rejects this "intervention zone" in its entirety. The Albanoran government has absolutely no right to intervene in the affairs of the Elpidian Federation in any case whatsoever." The Lord Protector rejects our right to intervene, he would reject our right to assist lawful governments faced with crisis. He would reject our right to help the Jonathanians. In his last sentence he declares that "The Albanoran government has absolutely no right to intervene in the affairs of the Elpidian Federation in any case whatsoever" To which my response is, Very well. Very well Mr. Lord Protector we will not. We will not assist the legal government if your nation is crumbling to civil war, if your nation is invaded we will not assist you in defending against an aggressor. Perhaps your nation lacks a single idealist, but in Albanor we do what we believe is right. As for the Empress's concerns we are not imperialists, you should know that very well by now, we do not intend to interfere with Rokkenjiman military operations in the region and we do not intend to wall off sections of the world. I did not attempt a multilateral approach because that would be ridiculous. Need I ask the worlds permission to state Albanor's desire for the region to be safe and prosperous? Need I ask the worlds permission to assist the Jonathanians while they fight and die to defend their nation from a madman? Need I Empress, Need I? |

Better Dead Than Red The announcements from the governments of Rokkenjima and Quinntopia recognizing the Liberal Communist Party in Themata as the legitimate government have left many in Albanor shocked. As one concerned citizen put it "At first I thought it was a war liberation...but now it looks like the Quinntopians invaded to spread communism and increase their influence in Southern Ardia." A recent poll taken in Charvaley showed the following: 67% of people surveyed agree that "The spread of Communism is unacceptable" 19% of people say that they "Would support military action to prevent the spread of communism 2% of people think that "Communism would be good for Themata" and 12% said they didn't have strong feelings for either side. The President also drafted a plan to send 1 cruiser "filled to the brim" with military hardware and 200 military advisors to Themata to "Train and equipt any and all Thematans in defiance of the current regime who firmly hold the belief that democracy and capitalism is the only hope for a lasting peace in Themata" These 200 military advisors will only be involved in training and planning. and finally, the political cartoonists at the Port Honor newspaper have ran the following cartoon. A Condemnation of the CSTO The President was broadcasting the nation online and on television from his room in Pyrena Castle. "Despite its claim, the Cross-Straits Treaty Organization (refered to from now on by CSTO) is by no means an organization that desires peace. In its attempt to "liberate" Themata they have killed its people, burned its soil, and destroyed its economy. The communist rebels of Themata have committed atrocities against the very people they claim to be fighting for and what does the CSTO do? In typical CSTO fashion, they act hypocritically. Rokkenjima and Quinntopia have promised ludicrous amounts of money and weapons to communist maniacs. The CSTO seems willing to disregard their murderous tendencies, most likely to expand their influence. But when Albanor wished to send military advisors and hardware so that Thematans who believe in Democracy and Capitalism might be able to defend themselves and their families from the SAVAGE BUTHCHERS OF COMMUNISM, we were DENIED AND THREATENED!" The President's voice was filling with anger and he slamed his fist. "In response to our plan the CSTO issued a no-fly zone and forbid all ships, except those approved the CSTO, to enter the region. They did so because they know nothing can be changed after the die is cast. What right does the CSTO claim to have that justifies restricting access to such a large area? The answer is simple, THEY HAVE NONE! The CSTO is a band of renegades, imperialists, and communists. They have started more wars than Warsaw ever will, yet they claim to fight for peace. They continue to linger in a world where they are not needed, in a world where THEY ARE THE GREATEST THREAT TO PEACE!" The President paused and took a deep breath before continuing. "We are Albanorans. Our forefathers fought, wept, and died so that Albanor might have the freedom to choose the men that lead them. We have followed the teachings of Catholicism since the birth of our nation. We are a strong, wise people with a beautiful culture and a vibrant history." "WE ARE ALBANORANS" He said with a sudden rise in his voice "AND WE OWE OUR ALLEGIANCE TO NO ONE BUT OURSELVES!" Following the broadcast protests began in most major Albanoran cities, including Valmont. What began with the burning of crude effigies of Beatrice, Prince Alexander, Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie and the burning of flags of CSTO countries quickly descended into riots. A New Alliance Today a new alliance was declared between Albanor and Great Jonathania with The D'Ratharii Republics of Greater Celisia joining quickly afterwards. The alliance is known as The Free Market Alliance and it is an economic, diplomatic, offensive and defensive military alliance. It will replace the long defunct LOAR which accomplished nothing. One of its main goals is the prevention of the spread and ,ultimately, the destruction of communism. Anti-Communist sentiment has been on the rise since Rokkenjima and Quinntopia recognized the LCP/Liberty coalition as the legitimate government of Themata before elections have been held and then proceeded to fund and arm them. Three anti-communist images in particular have gone viral online, one depicting Chairman Stalin of the U.S.R., one depicting LCP/Liberty's brutal treatment of civilians, and one depicting the bleak hopelessness that arises when living in a communist nation. Thematan Federalist leaders have said "The new Communist regime will be more corrpted than the last one." and, "The Liberal Communist have done nothing but have promoted themselves as saviors of Themata while they are indeed the terror and will continue to kill and inhumanely execute former regime supporters." The Department of Immigration and Emigration has released a statement saying that "Albanor is willing to take in any and, if necessary, all Thematan refugees fleeing the spread of communism" |

"Tonight we have a special guest" the news anchor declared "comedian Jon Stevenson" The screen cuts to a thickly built man with blue eyes standing in front of a microphone and he begins his routine.  "So there are three dogs, an Albanoran dog, a Quinntopian dog, and a Thematan dog and they're telling each other what it's like in their countries. The Albanoran dog says 'I can't complain, I bark and after I've barked long enough someone will give me some meat.' The Quinntopian dog says 'What's meat?', the Thematan dog says 'What's bark?' "Two Quinntopians are walking down the street when one turns to the other and says 'Is this it, have we achieved true communism?' and the other says 'Oh hell no things are going to get a lot worse'" "It is said that Stalin was making a speech to a large assembly and he ws going on at great length and then a voice out in the crowd said 'Peanuts, popcorn, crackerjacks' and Stalin went on speaking, and again the voice said 'Peanuts, popcorn, crackerjacks' and about the fourth time this happened Stalin stopped in his regular speech and he says 'The next time that persons says that, I'm going to find him and kick him all the way to Chernobereg' and everyone in the crowd began to say 'Peanuts, popcorn, crackerjacks'" "A commissar of Communist Quinntopia went out to one of the state collective farms and he grabbed the first worker he came to and he asks 'How are the crops?' and the worker says 'oh the crops have never been better, just wonderful' so the commissar says 'How about potatoes?' the worker says 'Comrade commissar if we were to put the potatoes in one pile, they would reach the foot of God' the commissar responds with 'This is Quinntopia, there is no God' and the worker says 'That's good because there are no potatoes" "What is a Soviet historian? Someone who can accurately predict the past" "What are the four things wrong with Soviet agriculture? Spring, Summer, Winter and, Fall" "An old woman walks up to Vinage-Sovetskie and she asks 'Who invented Communism? A politician or a scientist?' and Sovetskie answers 'A politician' and the old woman says 'That explains it, a scientist would have tried it on mice first" "There are two men in a line to get food in the U.S.R and the line is two miles long and the people in line are blaming Stalin. One of the men says 'I am going to go kill Stalin' and the other says 'Okay, off you go'. So the man goes and an hour later he comes back and his friend asks 'Did you kill Stalin?' and the other man says 'No there was an even longer line there" |
