![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Aquilae Reconstruction "On Schedule" Says Contractor After recent claims of corruption, For a Better Tomorrow (FBT), the government contractor in charge of the reconstruction of Aquilae has issued a statement declaring the process to be "on schedule and not at all influenced by any internal politics that may or may not exist." FBT declined to comment for this story. Tytorian Team Defeats Kazarovia in IFFA Match In a reversal of their stunning loss to Chernobereg a few days ago, the kingdom's national football team defeated Kazarovia in a brilliant match yesterday. After a swift trade of goals in the first five minutes, both teams played their best until the final quarter, at which point a slight break in the Kazarovian defense allowed for a last minute goal by Tytor's offense. The game was considered well-played by both teams and they parted on good terms. According to an official statement issued by the Royal Intelligence Service (RIS), Richard Howe has been captured by Special Forces agents outside the city of Williamshaven. Wanted for his involvement in the destruction of Aquilae, Howe has been the object of a nation-wide manhunt in recent weeks. A combined military/civilian trial will be set up for his prosecution. Tytorian Cosmonaut to Join Quinntopian Moon Mission In a recent press release issued by the Tytorian Aerospace Ministry, Executive Administrator David Parry stated that the ministry is gearing up to send a man to the moon in a joint mission with the Quinntopian People's Cosmonautical Committee. Dr. Matthew Howard, Tytor's chief cosmonautical expert, has been selected to join Progress VII. He will become the first Tytorian in space since 1974, as well as the first Tytorian to set foot on the moon. Edited by Tytor, 4th June 2015 - 04:51 PM.

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Corporate Coup - King Michael in Floodwater We are broadcasting from Port Monsoon tonight as reports of gunfire were heard this evening in cities across the country as Frederick Davis, owner and CEO of Davis Industrial, Inc., launched what has been described as a spontaneous attempt to seize power. Mercenary forces under his command have control of Tsargrad and several other major cities, and fighting continues at present in Williamshaven and Vigil. Field Marshal Lord Frederick Underhill has been killed in the fighting. King Michael and his second son, Prince Charles, are in Floodwater at this time, having arrived this morning in a state visit. It is thought that the rest of the royal family is in rebel custody. Rumors have been heard of Thematan involvement, but they are unconfirmed at present. TBS will present further information as it is collected. Edited by Tytor, 28th April 2014 - 01:54 PM.

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Embassy in East Moreland Closed Due to an increase of civil unrest, Foreign Minister John H. Goodfellow has announced the temporary closure of Tytor's embassy in Northfort today. In a recent press conference, Goodfellow stated that "while we [the Tytorian government] respect the current administration of Prince Regent James as the lawful government of East Moreland, events have conspired against us in maintaining our embassy there." Tytorian citizens travelling to East Moreland are advised to be cautious and to avoid large gatherings in the streets, as such demonstrations have the potential to become dangerous. Civil War Looming in Ndambia The situation in Ndambia has escalated in recent days, with sections of the country's military rising up against the rightful monarch, Queen Kangela. Additionally, the Kijiko people in the western province of Kajikya have declared independence from the central government in Alunda. The Foreign Ministry remains cautiously optimistic about a peaceful resolution to the conflict, and Tytorian ambassadors remain in the country at present. Epidemic in Safraen Official The Ministry of Travel issued a moratorium on travel to and from Safraen after the National Public Health Center (NPHC) published a belated advisory on the recent outbreak in the failed state. The NPHC has tentatively identified the contagion, labeled as the "Kaiju Virus" by emergency responders in the country, as a Category 4 outbreak. It is not known if the disease has spread to other countries in the region. Aerospace Ministry Launches Marduk Probe An artist's conception of Explorer XII at its destination The Tytorian Aerospace Ministry launched an unmanned probe from Grand Prince Richard IV Air Force Base in the Northmark with the goal of reaching the orbit of Marduk, the Solar System's largest planet. Explorer XII, which was launched on Tuesday, is scheduled to arrive in Marduk's orbit in 2019 and will spend one year studying the gas giant. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service East Moreland's King David Alive Events in East Moreland came to a head this morning with the release of a thirty-second video of King David III. The video has gone viral, possibly the fastest of any such video to date. In the video, King David states: The government of Prince Regent James has yet to release a formal response and could not be reached for its views on these developments. Tytorian Teams Win Big in MHL Playoffs' First Round The first round of playoffs in the Mundus Hockey League has resulted in a surprising number of victories for Tytorian teams. Three Tytorian teams played on Saturday, winning each game. The Southmark Ravens defeated the top-ranked Euphira Koolers 4-1; the Tsargrad Kings defeated the Jaholm Nords in overtime, 3-2; and the Decapolis Saints defeated the Skagen Whalers 4-2. No home teams in the Southeast Conference won any games, though three home teams won in the Northwest Conference. Davis Industrial Buyout Approved The government has approved For a Better Tomorrow's proposed buyout of the assets of Davis Industrial, Inc., the now-defunct manufacturing company formerly owned by Frederick Davis. ![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service IFFA Finals Approach Football fans across the country wait in eager anticipation as the finals of the second IFFA tournament approach. Tytor's hopes of securing the trophy this year were dashed in the quarterfinals in a brutal match against Achkaerin, who were promptly eliminated in the semifinals. Since then, public opinion has polarized, with roughly half the country supporting each finalist. The last match will be held in the Floodwater Provincial Football Arena in Port Monsoon, largest stadium in the country and site of the tournament's opening ceremonies. Fighting Reported in Sea of Kyne Reports are surfacing of a clash between CSTO and WARSAW ships in the Sea of Kyne. According to preliminary reports, WARSAW submarines attacked the CSTO blockade in an attempt to reach Themata, which recently went through a USR-backed coup d'état. We will have more on this matter as the situation evolves. Parliament Approves First Surface Combat Ship in Decades Parliament has approved construction of as many as four next-generation guided missile destroyers as part of an effort to expand the capabilities of Tytor's aging surface fleet. The Ministry of Defense obtained plans for the Themata-class from the government of Themata shortly before the overthrow of the Federal Democratic Socialist Republic as part of an international cooperation campaign for T₡4.5 million. At present, the Navy plans to build one of the vessels, which will be put through tests. If the tests prove satisfactory, then three additional destroyers will be constructed. It is estimated that each destroyer will cost around T₡3.5 billion and take roughly three years to build. The last time the Navy commissioned a surface vessel was 1950, when the aircraft carrier HTMS Admiral was finished. (OOC: For the record, yes, I asked Arpeggi before he left, and no, these will not affect the current conflict.) |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service USR's Chairman Stalin Dead In a sudden turn of events, Dylan Stalin, Chairman of the United Soviet Russia, passed away this morning. Both the USR Pravda and the Thomradian government issued statements regarding Stalin's death and the Rokkenjiman Foreign Ministry is reported to be "in high spirits". Neither Rokkenjima or Quinntopia, each among Stalin's bitterest foes in life, have issued official statements on the matter as of yet. More to come as we have it. First Themata-class Destroyer Named In a press conference today, the Royal Navy announced the selection of the name of the first Themata-class destroyer currently under construction in the Williamshaven shipyards. The ship, which was stated to be "on schedule" in the same conference, will be comissioned as HTMS Hoplite upon completion. Hoplite will serve initially as a testbed for the class before being made combat-ready. Man Ordered to Take Down Borlander Flag Yesterday, a man was ordered by police to take down a Borlander flag in front of his home after he attempted to declare the house part of the "Borland Empire" declared recently by Kyle Barren of East Moreland. Jack Donaldson, a longtime resident of Vigil, claims to be a member of the "Borland diaspora", becoming part of a recent trend of declaring some unoccupied or otherwise "independent" territory (usually unwanted and/or abandoned) part of the self-declared kingdom. Kyle Barren's group has been named as an international terrorist organization by several governments, including that of the Kingdom of Tytor. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Ultimatum Expires - Tytor is at War Last night the ultimatum given to the United Soviet Russia in regards to the USR invasion of Meche expired without reaction from the Soviet government. A special joint session of Parliament was called in response, and Parliament voted nearly unanimously to go to war with the USR alongside the First Empire of Rokkenjima. A statement from the office of Field Marshal Sir John Percy confirmed rumors that Tytorian troops would be deployed to Meche, while also affirming that no Tytorian troops would be sent into USR territory. It is expected that the other nations to echo Rokkejima's ultimatum will also declare war over the course of today. These include Quinntopia, South Hills, Dartfordia, Achkaerin, and the CAS. Winter Games End The first-ever Winter Games came to a close yesterday, leaving Quinntopia at the top of the heap with seventeen gold medals. East Moreland was the runner-up, securing thirteen gold, with Achkaerin in third with eleven. Tytorian athletes placed tenth overall, winning sixteen medals: five gold, five silver, and six bronze. Next-Generation Destroyer Launched The first of four approved Themata-class destroyers was launched at Williamshaven this morning. The destroyer, HTMS Hoplite, will be used as a test bed for futuristic concepts which may be introduced into general navy use in coming years. (OOC: Don't worry, Hoplite won't be commissioned in time to have an effect on the coming war.) |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Tytorian Troops Arrive in Meche Elements of the 1st Cavalry Division arrived in the war-torn country of Meche by air and sea this afternoon in the first Tytorian military operation on foreign soil since World War II. Mission details remain secret for the time being, but the operation's stated aim is to "aid in forcing Soviet personnel from the sovereign nation of Meche". Additionally, Field Marshal Sir John Percy reinforced past promises that no Tytorian troops would engage in a theoretical invasion of any Warsaw state. More details as the situation evolves. Car Bomb Hits St. Elmo City A suicide car bomb exploded in front of the Provisional Provincial Capitol in St. Elmo City this morning. The bomb, which killed only the driver while seriously injuring thirteen bystanders, went off about ten minutes before the Decapolis Provincial Legislature was due to break for lunch, sparking speculation that the attack was intended to target the Governor, Hal Dillon, who was wrapping up a speech before the Committee for the Restoration of Aquilae at the time. While an obscure, homegrown movement known as the "Borland Liberation Army in Tytor" claimed responsibility for the attack, it is thought that it was actually carried out by members of the St. Elmo City mafia. Governor Dillon is famous for his strong anti-mafia stance, and is believed to have overseen the arrest of more than a dozen high-profile mafia members since his term as St. Elmo City's mayor. Whaling Crisis in the Great Northern Sea Tensions ride high in the Great Northern Sea and the Illumic Channel over the archaic practice of whaling. A diplomatic standoff has occurred due to actions by the environmental activist group known as "Sea Guardian" which left one of their ships dead in the water. Sea Guardian was attempting to act against Toshikawan whalers, but failed in their attempt to drive off a factory ship. Rokkenjiman Citizens Detained in Transvaal The government of the Trade Empire of Transvaal has seized fifty citizens of the First Empire of Rokkenjima from various locations across Transvaal. A few hours after the arrests, which have been called "kidnappings" by the Rokkenjiman Empress, Tranvaalian officials charged all fifty Rokkenjimans with terrorism, charges that all fifty, along with the Rokkejiman government, vehemently deny. The detainees are scheduled to go on trial in a few days; if convicted, the prosecution intends to seek the death penalty. Edited by Tytor, 15th December 2014 - 12:24 AM.

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Transvaal Executes Three Rokkenjimans This morning, it was announced by the state-controlled press of the Trade Empire of Transvaal that three of the five Rokkenjiman citizens held under false charges had been executed by firing squad. In response, the heads of several nations, including Transvaal's former ally, Toshikawa, spoke out against the Trade Empire's actions. The Cross-Straits Treaty Organization has announced its intention to enforce an active embargo against Transvaal, and Tytor, along with Rokkenjima, Dartfordia and Quinntopia, has withdrawn official recognition from the nation, which was called a "rogue state" by the Prime Minister in a recent press conference. According to Prime Minister Cornwallis, any Transvaalian officials that may still be within Tytor's border after the breaking off of diplomatic relations last week have been given 48 hours to leave the country before diplomatic immunity is revoked, at which point they will be arrested. Additionally, the Tytorian submarine fleet will be setting out for Peniche Bay with the intention of placing a total interdiction of trade to the Trade Empire's south coast. The Prime Minister assured the press that the Transvaalian government will "face the fury of God's own thunder." More on this story as it develops. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Controversial Bill Passes House of Commons Yesterday, the House of Commons passed a controversial amendment to the Gender Equality Act of 2006. The amendment, which goes to the House of Nobles next week, would allow same-sex couples to apply for "partnership licenses", which would grant most of the same benefits and privileges of marriage, such as certain tax deductions and no longer being identified as single on driver's licenses and passports. ![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Protestors Picket Seaforthian Embassy Hundreds of people gathered in front of the Seaforthian embassy in Tsargrad this morning, holding signs with slogans such as "Mind Your Own Darn Business!" and "Tytor for Tytorians, not Seaforthians!", protesting the stance adopted by Seaforth's government in regards to the Mundus Convention on Universal Rights. John Brown, one of the activists, shared his opinion with TBS. "We don't like this attempt by Prince Joshua to try to force us to bow to his will," he said, "This isn't his <expletive> country!" Another protestor, Mary Read, voiced a similar sentiment. "That Seaforthian <expletive> thinks he's so high and mighty," she said, "If he really means what he said, he'd better get this embassy of his out of our country. Otherwise, I think he owes us an apology!" Most of the protestors gave positive opinions of South Hills and Dartfordia when asked, but expressed opinions of Rokkenjima were mixed. Nation Mourns for Achkaerin's Duchess Iona Flags across the country have been ordered to half-mast out of respect to the late Duchess Iona, wife of the Emperor of Achkaerin. Iona's death has sent shockwaves across the region, drawing out statements of sympathy from several governments. The King issued a statement yesterday along a similar vein. The transcript follows: The government of Achkaerin has stated that all of the games in the first round of the IFFA World Cup will begin with a moment of silence in Iona's memory. Additional Troops to be Sent to Meche The office of Field Marshal Percy has confirmed rumors that the rest of the 1st Cavalry Division, along with elements of the Tytorian Royal Marine Corps, will be making their way to Meche over the coming weeks. This is due in part to an announcement by the Dartfordian government that an expected additional deployment will not be taking place, with the Dartfordian troops originally earmarked for the Mechean conflict will instead remain at Queen Adriana Military Base in order to be in position to counter the recently declared Toshikawan Empire, should that become necessary. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Wreck of WWI Battlecruiser Discovered In a press conference this afternoon, the Royal Tytorian Geographic Society announced that a team of explorers have located the wreck of a battlecruiser dating from World War One off the coast of Northmark. The battlecruiser, identified as MN Invictum of the Ardian Imperial Navy, was commissioned in 1907 and is believed to have sunk on January 5, 1918, following an act of sabotage. The RTGS has guaranteed that a full investigation will take place in order to authenticate this belief. Additionally, it is expected that, due to the ship's location within Tytorian territorial waters, the site will be designated as a war grave following the conclusion of the Society's investigation, despite the fact that no Tytorians were on board at the time of sinking. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Terrorist Group to Advance to IFFA Quarterfinals In a shocking series of events, the football team claiming to represent the so-called "Kingdom of Borland" has managed to come out on top in the veritable dog pile that is Group B. Somehow, despite the fact that the team represents a nonentity, they have managed not only to qualify but also to defeat three of Mundus's best legitimate football teams. Tempers have flared among the fans of those other teams, and some have even accused the hosts of sabotage or rigging the games, though others have stated their belief that the other teams "simply let their guard down". When asked about the prospects of facing the Borlanders on the field in the event of Tytor successfully advancing to the quarterfinals as well, Tytor's team manager told TBS that the Tytorian team would likely refuse to play. "The Borlanders are terrorists, plain and simple," he said, "My players are patriotic Tytorians. It wouldn't end well. Realistically, if such a game actually took place, we'd probably end up with half the Borlanders in the hospital and my entire team arrested for public brawling. It'd be a PR disaster." |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Warsaw On the Brink? It would seem that the Soviets have an irresistible urge to invade their neighbors, even if those neighbors have been their allies for years. Minutes ago, sources within southern Thomradia reported on the presence of Soviet troops, which were seen engaging Thomradian government forces. This invasion follows a similar attack on the USR's northern neighbor, the free nation of Meche. Earlier this month, the state-run USR Pravda announced a new economic plan. However, this initiative seems to be too little, too late, as only four days later that same press apparently asserted its independence for several hours, encouraging Soviet citizens to join in protests against the Soviet government across the country. Later that same day, the government apparently cracked down on the press and its short-lived dissent, repeatedly broadcasting the following message: The USR's current situation is unknown; there has been no further news from the reclusive country since the assumed crackdown. More on this story as it develops. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Royal Navy Announces Expansion and Modernization Initiative This morning, Admiral Oliver Pearson announced a surprising new initiative for the Royal Navy, evidently inspired by the successful test of the Themata-class destroyer Hoplite. Pearson announced that the navy would, with parliament's approval, expand the surface navy's capabilities while simultaneously phasing out many of the older ships in the fleet. The plan he presented calls for the construction of thirty-seven new surface vessels, including two hospital ships and a dedicated command ship, and the mothballing of eleven ships currently in commission. Only two members of the pre-Hoplite surface fleet (the aircraft carrier Admiral and the battleship Harold II) will remain in active service. Additionally, three submarines built in the late '50s and early '60s would be temporarily pulled out of active service for modernization and other upgrades. Some commentators have theorized that the battleships Grand Prince and Vigil, each of which have served in one capacity or another for over a century, may be due for retirement and conversion to museum ships. Up to this point in time, the navy's High Command has stubbornly refused to decommission the aging ships despite the fact that they are no longer suited for their original role, having been relegated to "coastal defense" back in the 1940s. ![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Zachachevanian Carrier Bombed - Tytorian Government Denies Involvement Yesterday, the state-controlled media of the United Socialist Republics of Zachachevania reported that a bomb had gone off on board the Zachachevanian aircraft carrier Rosocor. The report stated that thirty-one seamen had been killed in he explosion and went on to blame the forces currently engaged in blockading the rogue state. The report then claimed that Zachachevania's Chairman Zachariev Rosocor was considering "military retaliation". This morning, the Admiralty responded to the accusation, referring to The People's Report as "the personal mouthpiece of an arrogant dictatorship" and denying any and all Tytorian involvement in the incident. Admiral Oliver Pearson took the opportunity to announce that the part of the Tytorian Royal Navy not currently involved in the blockade would be placed on high alert in anticipation of a possible Zachachevanian assault on the blockading forces. |

The TAL, which has been on green for the past nine and a half years, has been increased to red, indicating that Tytor is in imminent danger of a terrorist attack. The move, which is not unexpected, comes following a series of terrorist attacks against several nations, including Rokkenjima, Dartfordia and East Moreland. Furthermore, an as-yet unidentified man was apprehended at the Richard Cromwell International Airport in St. Elmo City after authorities found an improvised explosive device and several pipe bombs in his carry-on luggage. The man, who refused to give his name, has been imprisoned on suspicion of intending to conduct a terrorist attack and is being held without bail. [1] The Internal Affairs Ministry's Terror Alert Level, or TAL, has six positions, which are, from lowest to highest, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, and black. ![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Hal Dillon Taken Off Life Support Gubernatorial portrait of Hal Dillon Earlier this morning, longtime Decapolis governor Hal Dillon succumbed to the injuries which he had received in yesterday's shooting after the decision was made to take him off of life support. Governor Dillon, whose condition had been growing steadily worse despite the best efforts of the staff of the Richard Baxton Memorial Hospital, died peacefully at 2:39 AM without regaining consciousness. He was 45. Dillon was first elected as governor of Decapolis in 2004, being reelected in 2008 and 2012, and had recently announced his intention to run for a fourth term in 2016. He was widely known for his hardline anti-mafia stance, which began during his stint as mayor of St. Elmo City from 1996 to 2004. While responsibility for Dillon's assassination has not yet been claimed, it has been established that the gunman involved was not working alone, with the St. Elmo City mafia being the most likely culprit at present. The assassin, Carl Weiss of Falconrest, was apprehended at the scene by lieutenant governor Chester Gordon and is being held without bond on the charge of first-degree murder. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Prime Minister Rolls Eyes at Zachachevania Upon hearing of a recent display of aggression by the Rosocor regime in Zachachevania, Prime Minister Cornwallis is reported to have "rolled his eyes", according to a source on his staff. The Prime Minister, who is currently in Dijel for the Second Pan-Albion Congress and thus has been unable to make an official statement on the issue, is reported to believe that Zachachevania's recent posturing is "nothing new", according to the same source. Tytor to Join Operation: Carrier Pigeon Last night, the Admiralty confirmed rumors of an official invitation to join Operation Carrier Pigeon, a military exercise aimed at protecting sea-lanes and broadcasting uncensored news into the reclusive country of Zachachevania. An aide to Admiral Oliver Pearson announced that Tytorian naval assets would be taking part in the operation, adding the TBS to the already prestigious and expansive repertoire of international news networks being broadcast into the country, which currently includes the RBC, the DBC, and the CQBS. Fair Seas Concordat Presented to Upper House of Parliament Sir Robert Dumai of the Quinnist Party of Tytor officially presented the Fair Seas Concordat to the House of Nobles today following its approval by the House of Commons yesterday afternoon. The international treaty, which requires the assent of both Houses of Parliament, along with the Prime Minister and the King, to enter into effect in Tytorian waters, is expected to come to a vote by Wednesday. Some observers have speculated that the treaty's relatively rapid movement through Parliament is a result of the recent extension of Rokkenjima's Exclusive Economic Zone, or EEZ, in the Strait of Arovium, though others point to discussions at the Second Pan-Albion Congress, which are rumored to have involved the FSC. Carl Weiss Indicted by Grand Jury Carl Weiss, assassin of late Governor Hal Dillon of Decapolis, was indicted of first-degree murder this morning by a grand jury in St. Elmo City, moving the case further toward trial. If Weiss is found guilty, it is believed that the prosecution will seek the death penalty, though Chester Gordon, Dillon's successor as governor, has spoken out in favor of life imprisonment instead. |

However, that same spokesperson declined to comment on additional rumors that the King plans to make the dedication an international event; thus, those rumors remain unconfirmed at present. Fair Seas Concordat Clears Parliament Minutes ago, the Fair Seas Concordat was passed by the House of Nobles by a slim margin. The treaty, which took somewhat longer to work its way through the House of Nobles than was orignally expected, passed with a vote of 44-32, with four abstentions. The treaty will be presented to the Prime Minister for signature upon his return from Dijel, before being presented to the King for Royal Assent. Terror Alert Level Decreased The Internal Affairs Ministry announced a shift in the Terror Alert Level this morning. Three Submarines Withdrawn From Active Service This morning, the Admiralty announced that, effective immediately, the three Tsargrad-class submarines currently operated by the Royal Navy will be withdrawn from active service for modernization at Raven Port, Northmark, as part of the Navy's ongoing New Class Initiative. The protesters have condemned Åland's new constitution, which declares Odinism to be the state religion and prohibits the public practicing of any other faith, and requires the head of state to be an Odinist priest or priestess. While the Tytorian government has declined to make a statement on the issue, as is customary, anonymous sources within the government have reported that the prime minister is "mildly worried" about the situation. Fair Seas Concordat Given Royal Consent Last night, after Prime Minister Cornwallis applied his signature to the document, the king officially gave his approval to the Fair Seas Concordat, passed by Parliament last week. The treaty is set to go into effect in Tytorian waters on April 1st. FIP Takes Plurality in Floodwater Regional Elections The results of yesterday's regional elections in Floodwater have come in. The Floodwater Independence Party, or FIP, has won a plurality in the People's Assembly. The FIP has a stated goal of irrevocable independence for Floodwater, which puts it at odds with national parties, especially those that are part of the Conservative Alliance. Shelby Forthright of the Liberal Party, currently Head of the People's Assembly, will likely become Head of the Opposition, while Maurice Bishop, head of the FIP, is expected to become Head of the People's Assembly in Forthright's place. It is believed that Bishop will call for an island-wide referendum over the status of Floodwater, though the whether the current Tytorian government will consent to it remains to be seen. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Fourth Wave of Navy's Modernization Finished This morning, with the commissioning of the light aircraft carrier HTMS Edward VII, the Royal Navy's New Class Initiative came to an end. The New Class Initiative, easily the largest and most ambitious such expansion in Tytorian military history, has been hailed as an important step on Tytor's path into the future, even as critics decry it as a waste of money that should have been used in other, more peaceful, ways. The Navy is expected to create a new organizational structure in the near future, and has already published a timeline for the decommissioning of various older surface vessels, including the century-old battleships Grand Prince and Vigil. First Wave (completed) Second Wave (completed) Third Wave (completed) Fourth Wave (completed) Navy Proposes Next-Generation Combat Ship The Navy's new surface ship proposal This afternoon, the Office of the Admiralty officially presented a proposed replacement for the battleship HTMS Harold II, last of the Glory-class constructed during the communist period, for parliamentary consideration. The proposal, dubbed "BB(X)", calls for one or two nuclear-powered battleships armed with guided missiles and incorporating many of the innovations pioneered by the Themata-class destroyer. The "BB(X)", if approved, would become Tytor's first ever nuclear-powered surface ship. Several members of Tytor's submarine fleet are nuclear-powered, but up until now, all surface ships have been powered conventionally. |

The BB(X) proposal presents a replacement for the aging battleship HTMS Harold II. ![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Airliner Crashes Outside Capital - Terrorists Involved Photograph of the flight leaving St. Elmo City this morning The office of the Minister of Transportation has released an initial report on the crash of a Tytorian World Airlines jet, TWA Flight 93, believed to have been hijacked, in a field outside Tsargrad this morning. The airline will incur no penalties, as the incident "could not have been predicted, let alone prevented", with the information available to the airline at the time of take-off. However, Bureau of Domestic Investigation has reported that six of the passengers aboard the plane, corresponding with reports of six hijackers, were on the Bureau's watch list, though, due to the fact that the contents of the list are considered classified, TWA could not have known. The six suspects entered the country by plane in early August, claiming to be fleeing violence in the Duchy of Marseille. The suspects were accordingly given political asylum. However, as a precaution the suspects are reported to have been placed under observation, though the BDI did not reveal on what grounds that action was taken. Additionally, Flight Control in St. Elmo City released a recording of a phone call received from a passenger aboard the plane. The passenger, a woman identifying herself as Emily Bones, briefly explains the situation to the air traffic controller on the other end of the line. Ms. Bones then gives a running commentary as the passengers, led by a man identified as Corporal Daniel Taylor of the Royal Marines, conduct a revolt against the hijackers, culminating in a struggle in the cockpit over the plane's controls shortly before impact with the ground. General Kyle Davies of the Tytorian Royal Marine Corps has confirmed that Corporal Taylor's actions are under review. He expressed hopes that Taylor would receive the Marine Cross, the highest honor the Marine Corps can bestow. Finally, credit for the attack has been claimed by two different organizations. The first group to step forward was the Borland Liberators of Tytor, or BLT, a fringe group affiliated with Morelander fugitive Kyle Barren's self-described "Kingdom of Borland". The group, believed to include less than two dozen members, is, according to BDI Chairman Donovan Langley, "not even a threat to the local street gangs, much less the perpetrator of this attack". The second group to claim responsibility, and the one considered to be the more likely culprit, is the Tytorian branch of the Sorority of Materna. The group released a video this afternoon calling for a "full-scale crusade" against "the patriarchal despotism that oppresses these lands". While the organization's ravings were initially dismissed alongside those of the BLT, evidence found at the crash site, along with the recording mentioned earlier, has lent credence to the Sorority's claims. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Parliament Votes to Step Up Involvement in CTOMM In a special joint session called by the Prime Minister this morning, Parliament approved a proposal to fully involve the Kingdom of Tytor in the CTOMM, a joint military operation being conducted by the CTO with the aim of eliminating the Sorority of Materna from the small country of Marseille. The decision was nearly unanimous, with only a handful of MPs dissenting, for various reasons. A petition launched on PeopleDecide.gov.ty has been confirmed to have had no influence on this morning's procedures. BB(X), at its core a scaled-up version of the Themata-class destroyer with a larger ratio of missiles to guns, has also been given a name. The lead ship of the class, which will share its name with the class itself, has been christened HTMS Implacable, and is expected to enter service in about four years. The second ship, christened Challenger, after the ill-fated space shuttle that exploded three months ago, will be laid down within the next two weeks. TWA Flight 93 Memorial Confirmed The office of the Prime Minister confirmed this afternoon that a memorial commemorating the heroic actions of the passengers and crew of TWA Flight 93, which crashed outside Tsargrad yesterday, causing he deaths of all on board, is "in the works", though designs have yet to be submitted for review. A staff member, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed plans for a nation-wide design contest to be held "over the next couple months or so". |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service TWA Flight 93 Awarded Order of Aquilae This morning, His Majesty King Michael, acting upon the recommendations of the Prime Minister, officially awarded the Order of Aquilae, the nation's third-highest order of chivalry, to the passengers and crew of TWA Flight 93 for their efforts in preventing an even greater catastrophe on Tuesday. The Order of Aquilae, established last year, is intended for those who, in times of disaster and tragedy, go out of their way to protect others from harm, even at the cost of their own lives. The first recipients of the Order of Aquilae included those first responders who lost their lives during the fire that destroyed the city of Aquilae, after which the order was named, in 2013. Due to the nature of the decoration, most recipients are awarded it posthumously. Hal Dillon Assassin Found Guilty The months-long criminal trial of Carl Weiss, the man accused of fatally shooting Decapolis governor Hal Dillon in February, is drawing to a close. The prosecution and the defense made their closing arguments on last night, and, following a six-hour deliberation, the jury announced that they had found the defendant guilty. The prosecution has been pressing for the death penalty, a sentence not carried out since the 1980s, despite the fact that Chester Gordon, a personal friend of Dillon's, as well as his successor as governor, has spoken out against it. The official sentencing is expected this afternoon. Aerospace Ministry to Seek External Contract for Space Telescope The Tytorian Aerospace Ministry revealed plans this morning to hire an outside contractor to launch the William Patterson Space Telescope into orbit, as all spaceflights undertaken by the Ministry have been frozen pending the completion of an investigation into the explosion of SS Challenger in June. Executive Administrator Mackenzie Collins declined to comment on the story. |

In a statement delivered to the press by her secretary, Chief Justice Dame Susanna Chalkhurst wrote that "Public opinion in Tytor is far too biased against the one-time dictator for him to receive a fair trial even by the Supreme Court. It is my hope that an international panel, like the one gathered in East Moreland for the trial of James Ironside, will be much more likely to dispense justice rather than merely revenge." Dame Chalkhurst could not be reached for further comment. Prime Minister Cornwallis Announces Resignation In a surprise move, Prime Minister Lord Joseph Cornwallis announced this afternoon that he will be resigning from the leadership of the Conservative Party, effective at midnight tonight. Going against tradition, Cornwallis has declined to appoint his own successor, and the Conservative Party will hold a nationwide convention next week in order to elect a new leader. The Conservative Alliance, Tytor's current governing coalition and of which the Conservative Party is a member, is expected to appoint Cornwallis's successor as the new Prime Minister following the convention. |

Goodfellow, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tytor, officially succeeding Lord Joseph Cornwallis, who resigned last week. Prime Minister Goodfellow's selection comes as no surprise to observers, nor has his appointment of one-time rival Sir Reginald Partridge as his own successor to the post of foreign minister. The biggest surprise is that he has chosen to retain Cornwallis's cabinet, aside from filling his own former post. While nothing official has yet been announced on the subject, it is rumored that one of the Prime Minister's first actions in office will be to attend a meeting with representatives from the government of Rokkenjima, possibly the empress herself. Tytorian National Football Team Reaches MFA Semifinals In a continuation of a wonderful series of fortunate events, Tytor will be advancing to the semifinals of the fourth MFA World Cup following the defeat of the tournament's hosts in a close match on Saturday. Despite the prospects of facing as-of-yet undefeated Achkaerin in the next match, team manager Ysanne Giffords expressed her high hopes for a potential Tytorian championship. "Our team has played brilliantly so far," she said on Monday, "And no amount of intimidation from the Achkaerinese will dampen their spirits now. I have all confidence in the team's ability to beat Achkaerin once and for all this year. Even the greatest of giants must be humbled sometimes." |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Aquilae Bids to Host Mundus Games Aquilae, billed by the government contractors that oversaw its reconstruction as "The Finest Planned City in the World", has been officially submitted as the designated location of Tytor's hosting bid for the upcoming Mundus Games. This comes as no surprise, as many of the city's sports facilities were constructed with the Games in mind. Chester Gordon, Governor of Decapolis, gave a statement on the subject yesterday. "I hope we'll get the chance to show off for our international neighbors," he said, "Aquilae hosting the Mundus Games would finally and irrevocably secure its place as a truly global city. We must put the horrors and tragedies of the past behind us. What better way to do that than to host an international sporting event?" Tytor Defeats Achkaerin to Advance to MFA Final Football fans across the country are celebrating as the Tytorian National Football Team has brought down their Achkaerinese "dream team" opponents, earning a place in the final match. The match began as any other for Achkaerin, as they secured an early lead within the first few minutes. That lead evaporated by the end of the second half, and the game was forced to go into overtime. The two teams remained evenly matched, however, resulting in a penalty shoot-out that handed the victory to the Tytorian team. Tytor will face Luvonia for the championship. This is Luvonia's first time competing in the World Cup, and the nation's success so far is widely seen as a surprise. That said, Tytorian manager Ysanne Giffords has become, if anything, even more confident, telling TBS she believes "that cup will have our name on it this year". |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Tytor Denied MFA Championship In a surprise upset, Luvonia has defeated Tytor and obtained the MFA World Cup. The rising stars of the tournament, Luvonia's national football team was widely expected to be a pushover as Tytor headed for what seemed to be an easy title. Accordingly, Tytor's players were caught off guard by the ferocity of the Luvonian offense, which scored three goals in rapid succession in the first half. After a stern talking-to by the coach during halftime, Tytor's offense quickly shaped up, refusing to yield possession for the rest of the match. Tytor's lone goal was scored with only two minutes to go, however, and, by that time, it was too late. Manager Ysanne Giffords had much to say on the subject. "Clearly, we were overconfident during the match today," she told TBS following the match, "And the greater the overconfidence, the more humbling the defeat. We learned much from Luvonia's playing style, despite our loss, and I think another fifteen minutes would have been enough to snatch us the win. Perhaps we'll have better luck in the future. Still, second place isn't bad at all, and we did beat Achkaerin." |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Aerospace Ministry Says Ishtar Landings Likely a Hoax Mackenzie Collins, Executive Administrator of the Tytorian Aerospace Ministry, told reporters this morning that, in his opinion, Achkaerin's vaunted mission to Ishtar was likely little more than an elaborate hoax. Collins cited scientific evidence, including the heat and pressure on the surface of the second planet from Sol, as clues that the Ishtar mission was merely a publicity stunt. "Not even a robotic probe could last much more than an hour and a half on Ishtar's surface," he said, "Believe me, we've tried. Besides, claims that they were somehow able to land, exit the lander, get back in, and launch back into orbit in less than thirty minutes is ludicrous. Nobody has ever been able to exit a lander of that sort in less than a few hours, and even if they somehow managed it, their transport home would be a quarter of the way around the planet by the time the lander hit orbit again. The science just doesn't work out for Achkaerin." Collins' comments follow similar statements from South Hills and Toshikawa. The scientific community has yet to reach any sort of consensus on the matter, however, as Achkaerin continues to maintain the validity of the mission, and most aerospace officials have yet to issue public statements on the subject. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Waverly-Edwards: Achkaerin Acting "Irresponsible" In a statement to the press last night, Robert Waverly-Edwards, Marquis of the Southmark and an officer in the Royal Navy, expressed his opinion on the recent falling-out between the nations of Rokkenjima and Achkaerin. "This is an age when we need to stand together," he said, "Yet quarrels between allies, between friends, continue to spring up all the time. For an example, take the relationship between Rokkenjima and Achkaerin. The two nations have been the best of friends for a good long time, and yet a disagreement over international policy has caused that friendship to crumble. On the one hand, you have the Rokkenjimans, who have been working toward the goal of world peace since the Federal Republic fell. On the other hand, you have the Achkaerinese, who seem intent on becoming the next USR out of pride. The Rokkenjiman government has tried, time and again, to defuse tensions and achieve a lasting peace. They have sought to reach consensus on issues and adhere to the original intended purposes of international organizations like the CTO. The Achkaerinese, meanwhile, have been acting in a very irresponsible and dangerous manner. Their new policy seems to be that if they didn't participate in the drafting of it, and if they didn't get to wield absolute veto over it, then it didn't happen. The Achkaerinese press has begun sounding alarmingly like the old USR Pravda, attacking Rokkenjima over such issues as bringing peace to a troubled neighbor. Toshikawa sits on Rokkenjima's borders; why shouldn't the Rokkenjiman government get more say on the issue than a country that sits on an island half the world away? If we want peace, then we are going to need to stop making our friends into our enemies. Achkaerin needs to apologize to Rokkenjima for its irresponsible conduct and its recently gained habit of blaming the victim. This is the 21st Century, not the Middle Ages." The Goodfellow administration was quick to disassociate itself from Waverly-Edwards' comments. In a press release an hour later, the administration said, "Waverly-Edwards is not the Tytorian government. His opinions do not influence government policy in any way. This administration values its friendship with both Rokkenjima and Achkaerin, and to suggest otherwise would be to do this nation a disservice. As a member of the Armed Forces, Waverly-Edwards has stepped way out of line, and will be disciplined accordingly." |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Prime Minister Denounces Mauxi Genocide -- Urges International Response Late last night, Prime Minister John H. Goodfellow spoke to reporters about the mass killings currently ongoing in the former Tytorian colony of Ubakasa, denouncing them as genocide. "Whoever's in charge over there is taking perverse pleasure in killing innocent people," he said, "And it is the responsibility of the international community to step in and prevent such crimes against humanity." When questioned about what he intended to do about the killings, Prime Minister Goodfellow was direct and to the point. "This needs to stop," he said, "These murders need to stop, and if the Ubakasan government will not cease and desist of its own free will, bringing all those involved to justice, then I think the CTO needs to make that decision for them. What's the point of having an international peacekeeping organization if it's just going to sit back and watch while crimes like this are committed right under its nose?" These comments follow a controversial live broadcast by FMN field reporters in Mzali, Ubakasa's second largest city, revealing the extent of the violence gripping the nation. More on this as the story develops. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service New Disneyland Park Approved for Construction in Aquilae The office of the mayor of Aquilae released a statement this morning announcing the impending construction of a new theme park and resort by the Walt Disney Company on land that was formerly the site of the Davis Industrial Ammunition Plant, or DIAP. The DIAP, along with the Royal Army Arsenal, was mostly responsible for the large-scale destruction of Aquilae in 2014. Decapolis governor Chester Gordon informally expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming attraction, informing reporters in passing that he had once dreamed of working at a Disney park in his youth. While it is unknown as of yet how successful the park will be, social media exploded with interest immediately following the announcement, and King Michael himself is believed to be planning to attend the opening ceremonies once the park is completed, though palace spokespersons were unable to comment on the speculation. Zootopia Opens Strong, Shatters Records Earlier this evening, the Tytorian Film Institute confirmed preliminary reports that Zootopia, the newest film by Touchstone Animation, has broken several box office records on its opening weekend. Zootopia earned T₡55.5 million ($30 million USD) on Friday, its opening day, beating the previous record of T₡45.88 million ($24.8 million USD) held by 2013's Gravity, produced by Imperial Studios. Its opening weekend was similarly impressive, earning T₡160.025 million ($86.5 million USD), easily beating Gravity's record of T₡130.24 million ($70.4 million USD). Zootopia, almost universally praised by critics and moviegoers alike, seems poised to run away with every record ever set in Tytorian cinema. (OOC: I hope nobody minds if I both claim Zootopia and move its opening to August. If it bugs people, then we can just pretend that this article was written in March. Also, it would be Disney, but CGJ's already claimed the studio for Dartfordia. Instead, it's Touchstone Animation, albeit distributed by Disney outside Tytor.) ![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Zootopia Tops Box Office for Fourth Week Running As Tytor slides deeper into what appears to be a national obsession, Touchstone Animation's Zootopia continues to excel at the box office. A private showing at the Royal Palace on Saturday proved that even King Michael and his family are getting swept up. The film has easily shattered records nationwide, and has, to date, earned more than T₡925 million ($500 million USD) in domestic markets alone. In contrast, the previous film to hold the top spot in Tytorian cinema, 1998's The Truman Show, released by Imperial Studios, grossed only T₡703 million ($380 million USD) in domestic markets, and considerably less internationally. Worldwide markets have pushed the film past the T₡2 billion mark, the first Tytorian film ever to reach such a milestone. Touchstone Animation has reported the current global gross to sit somewhere in the area of T₡2.22 billion ($1.2 billion USD). At present, Zootopia continues playing in theaters across the country. |

The park appears to have been a greater immediate success than had been originally hoped, and the palace confirmed rumors that the royal family had been in attendance in a brief statement released earlier this evening. Unconfirmed rumors suggest that at least a handful of government ministers and their families may have attended opening day as well, due to numerous sightings reported on social media. This has already drawn criticism from some members of the opposition, and Coalition for Democracy chairwoman Madeline Thatcher accused the government of "wasting taxpayers' time and money on meaningless frivolities". Disneyland Tytor's public debut followed a special press event on Saturday, and TBS's rundown of the park and what can be expected from it can be found at www.tbs.co.ty. (OOC: I imagine other royals are probably mildly jealous of the ease with which Tytorian nobility and government officials can mingle with commoners. Ultimately, even the earliest princes derived from peasant stock -- after all, they were exiled from Decapolis, which was at least nominally a meritocracy at the time. Besides which, paparazzi culture is much less prevalent in Tytor.) |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Kaiser Adolfian LGBTQ Ban Raises Eyebrows in Tsargrad At a press conference this afternoon, Prime Minister John H. Goodfellow issued a statement expressing "surprise and, admittedly, a little concern" over a new law in the Sultanate of Kaiser Adolf criminalizing same-gender attraction or, more specifically, public expression of the same. He said, in part: "The really sad part of this development is that, based on past events, we really shouldn't be at all surprised that the Kaiser Adolfian government has gone to this extreme. This is a government that defines feelings of same-gender attraction as a mental illness, a position that last held mainstream popularity sometime in the late 19th century. ... It is the responsibility of the international community to condemn such alarming disregard for humankind's inalienable freedom of expression, wherever it may be found." When asked about how Tytor's continued refusal to sign the MCUR would affect international reception of his statement, Goodfellow dismissed concerns, telling reporters that "respecting the original definition of marriage is one thing, and persecuting one's own people for their personal preferences is quite another; if the Kaiser Adolfians wish to be accepted as full members of modern society, they must play by the rules of modern society, and that means allowing freedom of expression, no matter how much they may disagree with the views being expressed". |

Theoretically, the next election could have been put off for another four months, as the last one was held in March, 2012, and the 1999 Constitution allows for up to five years between parliamentary elections; however, a staffer close to Prime Minister Goodfellow, who spoke on condition of anonymity, speculated that the Prime Minister wishes to "use his current approval ratings to gain an electoral mandate", something he does not feel he has, due to the circumstances of his becoming Prime Minister in January. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Last Tytorian World War I Veteran Dies at 117 Tytor's oldest man, who also happened to be the country's last surviving veteran of the First World War and the last Tytorian born in the 19th century, passed away peacefully this afternoon following a Remembrance Day memorial service in his hometown. Charles E. Curtis of Georgetown, Northmark, was born on April 30, 1899, and lied about his age in order to join the army in 1915 on his sixteenth birthday. He saw combat in Ardia as part of the Tytorian Expeditionary Force until Tytor withdrew from the war in 1917. King Michael has requested that flags across the country remain at half-mast until Mr. Curtis's state funeral, scheduled for November 18. Prime Minister Commits Remembrance Day Gaffe Prime Minister John H. Goodfellow may have damaged the Conservative Alliance's standing among educated voters today. In an address at a Remembrance Day service in Tsargrad this morning, Prime Minister Goodfellow accidentally misstated multiple historical facts about past Tytorian wars and was at one point interrupted and corrected by Prince Harold, who was in attendance. Liberal news outlets quietly listed each and every research mistake made in the speech within hours after the event. In related news, sources close to the Prime Minister have stated that he has sacked his speechwriter. Prince Charles Sparks Romance Speculation Prince Charles, the younger of King Michael's two sons, was seen earlier today in the company of a young lady, with whom he seemed to be having a good time. This has sparked speculation on social media and in tabloids over whether the country's most eligible bachelor has finally found love. This is not the first time such speculation has emerged, as the prince briefly dated then-princess Evanthe Anselmo of Rokkenjima, currently that country's empress, two years ago. (OOC: Yeah, er, sorry about that one, B.) It remains to be seen whether Prince Charles will have better luck this time around. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Madeline Thatcher Gives Speech Attacking Conservatives Lady Madeline Thatcher, head of the United Democratic Party and de facto leader of the Coalition for Democracy, gave several strong criticisms of government policy in a short speech at a campaign event in Williamshaven this afternoon. The speech, believed to be in response to Prime Minister John H. Goodfellow's gaffe on Friday, targeted the Prime Minister repeatedly, though not by name. The full transcript can be found online at www.tbs.co.ty. Coalition for Democracy Takes Lead in New Poll With the government's approval ratings sinking in the aftermath of Prime Minister Goodfellow's Remembrance Day fiasco, a new Tytor Today poll shows the Coalition for Democracy with a new edge nationwide. If this edge holds, the Conservative Alliance could lose the House of Commons for the first time since 1994, prior to the ratification of the current constitution. Talk of Coalition Reshuffling Grows Sources close to Coalition for Democracy leadership have confirmed that Lady Madeline Thatcher, the political bloc's de facto leader, is in the course of talks with Benjamin Morales of the United Socialist Party and Rachel Smith of the Tytorian Liberty Party. The subject of these talks is currently unknown, but speculation is that each has been invited to join the Coalition for Democracy. If this is indeed the case, and the deal goes through, the Coalition for Democracy would be twenty-six seats closer to a parliamentary majority even before the election. No party has changed coalition affiliation since the Tytorian Green Party abandoned the Popular Front for the Coalition for Democracy in 1985. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Coalition for Democracy Takes Parliamentary Majority in Landslide Liberals and social democrats across Tytor were out in full force today celebrating the Coalition for Democracy's historic win in yesterday's general election. It became clear around 11:30 last night that the Conservative Alliance's twenty-two-year domination of Tytorian politics would end in a spectacular landslide. Prime Minister John H. Goodfellow of the Conservative Party gave his concession speech outside the Royal Palace shortly before tendering his resignation to the king at 7:00 this morning. "Though it is, of course, disheartening to be rejected so soundly by the voters of this great nation," he said in part, "It is, at the same time, truly inspiring that we are able to have such a rejection occur if the voters so desire. We are blessed to have a society in which democracy can and will be respected by those in power. I wish my successor the best of luck in the coming years, as I am sure they will need every bit of it in the world's rather chaotic climate." Prime Minister Goodfellow's speech can be read in full online at www.tbs.co.ty. Madeline Thatcher Appointed Tytor's First Female Prime Minister At 7:15 this morning, King Michael summoned Lady Madeline Thatcher of the United Democratic Party to the palace to officially name her Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tytor, making her the first woman to hold that position. The move comes in the aftermath of the resignation of her predecessor, John H. Goodfellow of the Conservative Party, due to his coalition's defeat in yesterday's election. The election saw the Coalition for Democracy, of which the UDP is a member, gain a net total of seventy-nine seats at the expense of both opposing coalitions for a total of one hundred and seventy-two seats out of three hundred and twenty. This puts the Coalition for Democracy in control of the House of Commons for the first time since 1994, and also marks the first time a sitting prime minister has lost his own parliamentary seat in a general election since 1951. New Prime Minister Pledges Revitalized Ties With Allies In her first speech to parliament as prime minister, Lady Madeline Thatcher outlined her intentions for foreign policy during her time in office. "Our friends in the international community have long been neglected by the government in Tsargrad," she said in part, "Though I would be the first to say that they don't necessarily need our help, I believe that Tytor has a role to play, and that we have been studiously avoiding playing it. We must not remain mere observers of international politics, or the time will come that we will end up left behind by a rapidly advancing world." A full transcript of the prime minister's speech can be found online at www.tbs.co.ty. (OOC: Yes, Goodfellow is now out of parliament. And yes, now I need to come up with Thatcher's cabinet.) |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Parliament Passes Joint Resolution Condemning Nya Åland Christmas Arrests This morning, Parliament passed a resolution condemning the government of the Odinist Republic of Åland for "egregious violation of the human rights of their own people", in reference to a series of arrests made over the Christmas holiday. Nya Åland police arrested twelve Christians on Sunday for the act of displaying their faith in public, a crime under the nation's fundamentalist constitution. The resolution, passed almost unanimously in both houses of Parliament, was submitted by Miriam Godwinson, MP, of the Christian Democratic Party, who spoke to TBS this afternoon. "I find it frankly appalling that any nation would dare to call itself modern while engaging in such discriminatory behavior," she said, "These practices give Odinism a bad name, and I hope that the international community will join us in reminding Mr. Stenberg that tyranny by the majority is not democracy. Would Mr. Stenberg consider it democratic if Tytor's Christian majority decided to strip all rights of worship from Tytorian Odinists? I suspect the man would have a lot to say on the subject, and I would hope that he would speak out against such bigotry." The full interview can be found online at www.tbs.co.ty. |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Foreign Ministry Announces Sanctions on Nya Åland In a statement released to the press this morning, Jeffery Hartshorn, Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced that the Thatcher administration will be acting on Parliament's condemnation of the government of Nya Åland on Tuesday. The Foreign Ministry put several economic sanctions into effect, including a ban on arms sales to the Odinist Republic and the freezing of assets belonging to Head Gothi Daniel Stenberg and a large number of prominent supporters and members of his administration. The sanctions, Minister Hartshorn told reporters, will come into force immediately, and will be strengthened if Nya Åland "makes no move to reverse these backwards policies." Prime Minister Denounces Rokkenjiman "Declaration of War" Prime Minister Madeline Thatcher spoke out at a state luncheon this afternoon against this morning's "declaration of war" against the Borlander terrorist organization by the First Empire of Rokkenjima. "While I applaud the motivation behind this new policy by our Rokkenjiman allies," she said, "I must note that it is remarkably short-sighted. Yes, it commits the nation to fighting these despicable terrorists, but the phrasing threatens to lend them exactly the legitimization they so dearly crave. In fact, it affords them the same recognition as a sovereign nation, which they definitely aren't, the same recognition extended to them when they somehow managed to play in the World Cup some years back. I would like to take a moment to formally call upon Empress Evanthe to rephrase her new initiative in such a way to avoid lending anything that could be construed as formal recognition." |

![]() Tytorian Broadcasting Service Challenger Disaster Exacerbated by Weather, Report Says This afternoon, the Tytorian Aerospace Ministry released a report detailing the findings of an investigation into the explosion of SS Challenger, which occured nearly two years ago. The report says that the explosion was triggered by a malfunction in the spacecraft's main fuel tank, causing it to detonate. This detonation caused Challenger to disentegrate, and it is believed that the seven cosmonauts on board were killed instantly. The report states that the malfuction, while partially caused by the fuel injector's substandard design, would not have occured if not for the dangerously cold temperatures on the day of the accident. Ministry officials noted following the report's release that, had Challenger's maiden launch gone as planned, a similar disaster could have occured on a later mission, especially if the fuel injector's problems had gone unnoticed. The full text of the report can be viewed online at the Aerospace Ministry's website, www.aerospaceministry.gov.ty, as well as at www.tbs.co.ty. Aerospace Ministy Greenlights Continuation of Challenger Program In a press release this morning, Executive Administrator Mackenzie Collins of the Tytorian Aerospace Ministry announced that, pending revisions to the design, the Challenger Program will resume flights. The announcement, which took some in the aerospace industry by surprise, was attacked as "irresponsible" by Gregory Peaks, MP, of the Tytorian Green Party, who stated his intention to introduce a bill stripping the Aerospace Ministry of most of its funding in a social media post this afternoon. Other legislators expressed support for Collins, however, and it remains to be seen whether the "Peaks Initiative", as it has been dubbed, will succeed. PeopleDecide.gov.ty Petition Pushes for Renaming of Website A petition launched on PeopleDecide.gov.ty on Friday with the aim of pushing the government to rename the website has reached the requisite number of signatures to mandate attention from the Tytorian government. The petition expresses dissatisfaction with the site's name, and proposes a poll on the site itself to choose a new one, similar to the process behind the naming of three of Tytor's four Themata-class destroyers in 2014. The Thatcher administration has not yet responded to the petition, the full text of which can be seen online at www.tbs.co.ty. Tytor's First Nuclear-Powered Battleships Enter Service Concept art of the Implacable-class The Tytorian Royal Navy's two newest warships entered service in an elaborate commissioning ceremony at Williamshaven yesterday. The completion of the battleships Implacable and Challenger marks the end of the Admiralty's recent modernization efforts, most notably the New Class Initiative, which replaced most of Tytor's surface fleet. Archbishop of Tsargrad Admitted to Hospital Richard Valance, Archbishop of Tsargrad and head of the Church of Tytor, was admitted to East Tsargrad General Hospital this morning for undisclosed reasons, fueling speculation as to the state of the archbishop's health. Archbishop Valance, who celebrated his 91st birthday last year, has up until now continued to lead an active public life despite his advanced age. Neither the archbishop's office nor the hospital's staff could be reached for comment. (OOC: I've been planning parts of this news post since October 2015. Talk about writer's block...) |
