![]() Nation Mourns Passing of High Priestess ![]() This morning it was announced that High Priestess Helena Cordone passed away at the age of 96. For the last 62 years she had been the custodian of the nations faith ensuring the Gods were honoured. She collapsed late last night and despite being rushed to Northfort hospital was pronounced dead at 1am this morning. The High Priestess grew up in the mountain town of Silverlake where she was the youngest daughter of a family of cheese makers. At the age of 18 she commenced her national service and was assessed to be competent to train to be a Priestess. She began her religious service as Junior Custodian of the Shrine of Esthmore but within 3 months her knowledge of religious texts and kind nature saw her in command of this prestigious shrine. For the next 6 years she studied at the Royal Temple under the tuition of the then High Priestess Cullen who said Cordone possessed a remarkable nature of being able to explain scripture. Upon completing her studies and being invested as a Priestess she was appointed to serve the Goddess of Beatrice. Over the next few years she rose through the religious heirachy before finally in 1952 being appointed the nations High Priestess. During her time she crowned 3 monarchs of our nation. King David III released the following statement shortly after the announcement of her passing. "High Priestess Cordone was the true mother of our Nation, she provided great guidance to all of us in our times of need and has been a constant voice of wisdom in my time as King. I will miss her and I would like to pass on my condolences on behalf of the Nation to her family." It is thought that the High Priestesses successor will be named within the next week by the Religious Council. Until that time all ceremonial duties will be conducted by the Kings sister Princess Joanna. |

![]() ANOTHER TOP MEDAL DAY ![]() Team EM tightened their grip at the top of the medal table yesterday as the Nordic Skiiers dominated many of the days competitions. The team now stand on an impressive medal total of 11 Gold, 5 Silver and 5 Bronze, putting them 2 golds ahead of the next nearest nation, Quinntopia. The excellent day on the snow began when Melissa Godfrey missed out on a Bronze by less than 5 seconds to the competator from Dijel. Soon after though the first medal did come when Jessica Clarke took Gold in her event the 500 meter sprint. In the same event her training partner Paula Patrick came third to earn Bronze. Success continued as Ben Manning took Gold in the mens 1000 meter race before his wife Kelly Manning made it a family double winning a Bronze in the womens version of the same event. Three medals came in the 1500 meter races as Tom Parker took the gold in the mens race and Grace Bryatt and Melissa Denning took silver and Bronze in the womens event. KING TO ATTEND TALKS IN VEROVER ![]() King David is expected to attend high level talks in Verover aimed at restarting relations with the nation. The former CIS nation gave up its membership some time ago and reports suggest that the nations re-admission may be high on the agenda. The visit is also the first to the nation since King David's royal aircraft was shot down while returning from the nation after the last Confederations Rugby Match there. These talks come after a busy period of diplomatic talks that have seen the King host an Illumic Conference, meet with the Transvaal, forge a potential treaty with the CAS and now head to Verover. It is not expected that the Queen will attend the talks instead perfering to focus on the establishment of a global wildlife preservation agency. It is also thought that the Queen will be taking a reduction in diplomatic and public appearances as her pregnancy progresses. |

![]() QUEENS SISTER ARRESTED ![]() The youngest sister of Queen Matilda was arrested in Silverhills last night after being involved in a "breach of the peace" outside a night club. Erin Osman, 24, was arrested leaving the Kookabar at 4am and taken to the cities central police station where she was released with a caution and a £EM 80 fine for the offence. Witnesses said she left the nightclub which is popular with celebrities at around 4am and soon began arguing with a male that she was with, confirmed as HoneyBadgers rugby player Dan Lugaren. Many media outlets have reported in the past that the two have been dating for several months. The police where called by door staff at the nightclub as they feared "it would turn violent". Once the Police arrived Mr.Lugaren was advised to leave the area and complied immediately with the Police, however Miss Osman insisted on throwing her shoes at him while yelling obscenities. After receiving several warnings she was handcuffed and lead away in a police van yelling "Do you know who I am?" This is not the first time that the youngest of the Osman girls has been in trouble with the police, Erin has two previous convictions for speeding and one street caution for being in possession of marijuana for personal use. The Royal Press Office was contacted for a statement but declined saying "Miss Osman is responsible for her own interactions with the press." It is though thought that the King and Queen are likely to be furious about the incident as it reflects badly on the royal family. |

![]() KING USES POWERS ![]() Today the King used his powers to commute the death sentence of convicted terrorist and mass murderer James Clusky. It is the first time under the new constitution that this power has been used and it has provoked much outrage amongst some citizens. The King waited until thirty minutes before the execution before contacting the Northfort Prison and cancelling the execution. It is believed at that time Clusky was meeting with a Priest to prepare himself for his hanging. In a statement given immeditaley after the cancalation of the execution the King first apologised for going against his people before explaining that he had done so after meeting with the mother of the convicted Borlander. The King believed that the Mother was in no way connected to the Borlanders and as such did not deserve to go through the "grief" that the loss of a son would bring. The King then went on to remind the people that they have the power to change the constitution. In the two hours following the announcement 6,821 people have signed a petition calling for the King to be removed completely from the judicial system while 1,824 have called for the King to step down. Should either of these petitions reach 250,000 within 6 months then the King will be forced to hold a referendum on the matter. EAST MORELAND COMPANIES TO EXPAND INTO TOSHIKAWA ![]() Two of East Moreland's most profitable companies announced today they have had applications approved to establish new offices in Toshikawa, the nation that was previously isolated has recently openned itself up to international business and EMAC and OsmanTech where amongst the first to be approved by our nothern neighbour. EMAC intend to establish R&D facilities there and depending on demand for future projects potential manufacturing plants. Meanwhile OsmanTech where keen to take their "ethical" products into a new market. Lord Lucas Osman was keen to point out the mutually beneficial relationship that could form. "We have a portfolio of great products that we're keen to make a key part of the Toshikawa market, be that our unique solar road panels or our electric car systems, we recently got rid of the patents of our retro viral drugs and hope that we can help the Health Care system here come up with some new techniques and solutions to their needs. Its an exciting time. I really hope we can tempt some of the nations top graduates to come and work with us and bring their insights into this nation, in return we can offer them great opportunities to work with a company focused to making a difference." ![]() CARPENTER ANNOUNCES EDUCATIONAL OPPURTUNITY ![]() Chief Councillor Tim Carpenter has today announced a new educational exchange programme that will offer exciting oppurtunities to East Moreland High School students. The project being dubbed "More and Mundus" will see students aged between 14 & 18 being given the oppurtunity to experience a culture other than their own. "When I was a kid I always wanted to travel and see the world, but the cost and the fact East Moreland was a bit of a recluse made that hard. I'd love to see our youngsters having oppurtunities I didn't." The project has already been agreed between East Moreland and the CAS, and talks are under way to involve Rokkenjima and Seaforth. "Initially we don't want to go to big, we'll test it, see how it goes, learn from the mistakes and enjoy the successes. All being well I'd love to see all the CIS and CETO nations engaging with this." The project will see 200 students from the CAS pairing up with a similar age student from East Moreland. It is also hoped that a similar number of Rokkenjimans and Seaforthians will also take part. The visiting students will be housed with an East Moreland family for a week, attend an East Moreland school for a few days and get to do some sight seeing and youth activities in the area they are visiting. The hosting students would then go and visit their guests homes in the future. "Its an exciting project, and to try and give these youngsters the best experience we're hosting them during the HoneyBadger festival. So they'll get to see our nation at its best and most exciting." The Chief Councillor believes that the project will help break down barriers between nations and lead to long term friendships forming that in the future will help international relationships. He went on to say "Today we see massive multi-nationals recruiting globally, realistically your going to have to work in other nations or alongside other cultures, what better way to get used to that and learn about these than living them." |

![]() EAST MORELAND TROOPS RETURN TO SAFRAEN After the USR launched an invasion of Meche the King has taken the precaution of deploying troops to the Republic of Safraen. In a statement the King stated, "Many Morelanders died alongside the men and women of Safraen to ensure the safety and liberty of the Republic, we hope the Republic will not be dragged into this conflict should the USR advance any further North, however in the past we have seen that the USR have not always been the most trustworthy of nations." Duke Legion will deploy over the next few days along with all their relevent equipment, it is expected around 25,000 troops will be on the ground supporting the soldiers from the Republic. In addition the King has also ordered REMNS King Robert , the carrier REMNS Ostlake, four frigates, three destroyers and two Divine Class submarines to the region. It is also thought several air units will also be dispatched shortly. The explained the large deployment, "we pray these forces are not necessary, however we need to ensure the Republic remains safe during this time, should the USR take this oppurtunity to launch an attack even further North we will stand shoulder to shoulder with the troops of the Republic. We will not let a 2nd round of atrocities take place here. The King declined to comment on East Moreland involving themselves in the Meche conflict. TWO DIE IN GAS EXPLOSION Two people travelling in a car died yesterday when the gas pipe beneath them exploded sending the car flying into the air and landing on its roof. The same explosion ripped apart a nearby house as the gas main ruptured and exploded. The two people in the car have not yet had their identity released as the Police are trying to trace their families. Two police officers pulled both passengers from the car before it caught fire itself and exploded, both passengers however were already dead. No one was harmed in the house which was empty at the time. Local fire officer James Huddlestone said "its a miracle no one else was killed, this had the recipe to be a total disaster." Investigations have begun into the cause of the gas explosion however initial reports suggest that the pipeline may have been poorly maintained and the car, which was stationary at traffic lights may have created a spark that ignited the gas leak. It is expected to take many days for the cause of the explosion to be identified. |

![]() TECHNOLOGY CITY COLLABORATION UNVEIL NEW SHIP ![]() After collaboration between several East Moreland companies based in Technology City the newest proposed addition to the Royal East Moreland Navy was unveiled. The Cyborg Class ship is expected to enter sea trials within the next 18 months. The ship is a new type of aircraft carrier dealing soley with unmanned air vehicles or drones. The double flight deck would allow for the vehicles to simultanously take off and land. The ship boasts several advantages over the traditional aircraft carrier as it is more compact, can carry a compliment of around 150 drones in under deck storage and requires a crew of around 60 as al UAV operators can be based back in East Moreland regardless of where the ship is based. The ship will also have the capability of launching unmanned naval vehicles from a rear launch bay under the flight deck. The ship also possesses the potential to operate manned VSTOL aircraft and helicopters. "We believe the Cyborg Class vessel marks a significant step in the strengthening of our Navy, it provides a new step in the aircraft carrier evolution and yet at the same time a large amount of flexibility." said Naval spokesman Admiral Greyman at the unveiling. It is expected that once the prototype has passed sea trials the REMN will order a further two of the vessels. BORLANDERS INVOLVED IN TOSHIKAWA ![]() Today the Borland terrorists have aided terrorists from Toshikawa attack several targets. The number of casualties has yet to be confirmed however it is thought the King has already sent his message of support to the Shogun. It is expected that East Moreland troops will be offered to aid in the efforts to combat the Borlanders aiding Buke Rebels. Various parallels have been drawn between Canley and Buke which some experts say may have influenced the Borlanders to aid this group. |

![]() NATIONS CELEBRATES FEAST OF MARISSA ![]() Today the nation celebrated the Festival of Marissa, the Goddess of Love, Fertility and Health. The nation saw a record number of weddings take place with this being the first festival of Marissa since the introduction of same sex marriage. Across the nation celebrations took place with loving couples exchanging gifts and large parties in parks. At midnight there was the traditional release of rose petals from the Tower of Marissa in Northfort while couples danced in the square below to the Royal East Moreland Orchestra. The King made his traditional visit to Northfort Hospital at sunrise to deliver fresh breakfast goods to the staff and thank them for their work over the past year. As usual the hospital staff across the nation were inundated with gifts. The King was also joined this year by the Queen as they celebrated their first Feast of Marissa since being married. The couple spent much of the day attending events including the traditional dancing at the Tower of Marissa. Meanwhile High Priestess Princess Joanna gave the traditional Feast day speech from the tower at midday. This year she placed the emphasis on spreading love around the world. "Over the last year I believe we would have made Marissa proud, we've allowed people of the same gender, for so long marginalised by society to proudly proclaim their love. Today I carried out my 200th marriage ceremony when I married Olivia Butler to Vicky Brindley, for me this wedding had extra special meaning as it marked a landmark in my tenure as a Priestess but I believe it signals how far we as a nation have come in such a short time. Now is time for us to take the next step in modernising our nations outlook on the world. I urge all members of the Cult of Helus, whether they be Morelander or any other nation to make a point today of sharing your feast with someone outside your family, be it your neighbour, your boss, your workers, your school mates or even some random person on the street. Today is about love and happiness, we should each make it our responsibility to do that. As I speak our ambassadors around the world will be openning the doors of their embassy and inviting people off the street to enjoy food alongside their staff celebrating the day. I think if the Goddess looked down and saw this then she would smile." EMBASSIES OPEN DOORS TO FEAST East Moreland Embassies across Mundus today openned their doors and invited people of all religions to join their Marissa Feasts. In Dartfordia Ambassador John Reynolds organised a variety of hearty East Moreland style dishes that he and his staff handed out to people on the street. "Its been fantastic, we've had locals coming up trying a taste of East Moreland and just having a chat. I've meet people who live in the street who I've never spoke to, its nice to finally meet the neighbours." The move to do this came from an initiative put forward by Cheif Councillor Tim Carpenter. "I believe that a lot of problems in the world stem from people not bothering to share their cultures with others and as a result we often misunderstand each other. The more we experience the less that can happen, experiencing another culture doesn't take away our own identity at all, it just broadens our respect for others." This is the latest move in a series of initiatives put forward by Carpenter aimed at improving relations between citizens of nations rather than between governments. Meanwhile back in Dartfordia Ambassador Reynolds estimated that they fed around 200 people during their feast. "What was nice was seeing people we've never meet walk away with smiles on their faces, hopefully we gave them a pleasant day and they remember that when they think of East Moreland." The Ambassador also sent a selection of dishes to the Dartfordian Royal Family along with the traditional Feast Day greetings of wishes for "a year of god given love, health and happiness." Later in the day Princess Georgia came down to the Embassy to sample some of the dishes for herself. Ambassador Reynolds said "We were delighted to be able to have Her Royal Highness attend our celebrations, seeing a young royal enjoying our food and celebrations despite not sharing our religion shows just how accepting of differences the world can be." Similar scenes also took place in other embassies across Mundus. Edited by DaveIronside, 12th September 2014 - 10:22 PM.

![]() TROOP NUMBERS REACH 50,000 IN SAFRAEN ![]() Following fears of a USR advance North through Meche final numbers of East Moreland ground troops has hit 50,000. This now see's the whole of Duke Legion based in the nation. Forces had hoped it would be many years until they returned to Safraen following the outbreak of a virus there some time ago which sent the nation into chaos. Marine Major Frost has deployed to the nation for the second time, "I had hoped to come back some day and see how they'd rebuilt the place, I didn't think it would be this soon, however at least this time we've got somewhere to stay other than a sports stadium." Fears grow of an attack on the Republic following a sudden invasion of Meche after their elections, it is thought forces from the Soviet Safraen may be helping in that attack and as such the Republic fears they may be targetted soon. Princess Freya, who was part of the spearhead of the intervention, spoke of her concerns from Ostlake Command, "I'm sad to see so many troops having to head to Safraen again but we lost too much to bring these people freedom, we're not about to watch it be taken away." When asked if she thought a unification was likely "Reports from behind the border are patchy at best, I'd like to think one day by some peaceful means we could see a single Safraen again, however we'll just have to see." In addition to ground forces several squadrons of ground attack aircraft, AEWACS aircraft and helicopters have also arrived. It is expected that REMNS King Robert , the carrier REMNS Ostlake, four frigates, three destroyers and two Divine Class submarines. Will arrive in the area in the next 24 hours, Princess Freya did not rule out helping support Meche. "Meche has I believe been made a member in some form of the CSTO. This means its their operation, should they request support from our naval and air assets we would of course consider them, after all we are no stranger to operating with the Rokkenjimans having established the no fly zone in the last Great Jonathian civil war. Our priority though at this point has to be the security of the Republic of Safraen." In addition to East Moreland forces the Republic's 100,00 soldiers have begun intensive training supported by NCO's from East Moreland. Major Frost helped establish the Safraen Armed Forces, "Even before the outbreak they had a small, underequipped military, many CIS nations helped arm them, seeing REMNS Trojan given a new lease of life was great to see as we came in, however they're still some way from being polished military veterans, we'll do what we can." PALACE SILENT TO BORLANDER NEWS ![]() Following claims of some kind of impending scandal surrounding the High Priestess Joanna, the Royal Palace has refused to comment. Chief of Royal Household only spoke to press as he made his way between government offices in the city centre. "The Borlanders idea of a scandal and what reality are may be two very different things, at this moment you know as much as me, so I'm not exactly sure what you'd like me to comment on." Social media has become awash with rumours about what the Borlanders may be hinting at yet so far no concrete information has been forth coming, however some citizens are concerned. "The High Priestess is supposed to set the moral example for the faithful, if she's hiding some dark secret we should now, she should tell us or stand down." said one concerned Northfort resident. However others have come to her support, Priestess of Marissa Skye Maddix said, "Joanna is as devout and committed to the Cult of Helus as ever, I have no idea what the Borlanders have hidden away, however since becoming a Priestess at 21 Joanna has been the most pious and committed Priestess I've ever meet, we couldn't be in safer hands." |

![]() EAST MORELAND / SEAFORTH PARTNERSHIP TO OPEN ILLUMIC FOB In an agreement signed and sealed with the government of Transvaal the East Moreland and Seaforth governments have agreed to lease the land of the former USR base. This area will form part of a co-ordinated base to help tackle security in the region and promote trade. It is hoped that the area will become a centre of trade as well as offering a co-ordinated military area for nations of the CIS alliance, of which Seaforth and East Moreland are close allies. The move also helps ensure a stronger presence in the Illumic after the opening of Illumic Command last year. The new base will be refered to as Illumic East and will see East Moreland personnel deploying there as soon as next week to begin overseeing the set up of the base. KING PROMISES ANNOUNCEMENT TONIGHT Chief of Royal Household Alex Redfern told assembled reporters that the King would take to the air tonight to speak to the nation about the Borlander issue. In a prepared statement Mr.Redfern said "It is clear this issue is something the Borlanders think will radically change the conflict we have with them. I think what the world will find is that the issue is a storm in a tea cup." It is not yet confirmed what the announcement may be however rumours have begun circulating on the internet about a secret marriage or perhaps a long term illness on the part of Princess Joanna. |

![]() The Royal Coat of Arms was replaced on the screen by King David sat at his desk, the lake behind him. "People of East Moreland and those watching around the world, I am sure many of you have tuned into tonights broadcast expecting some great revelation that will bring the Kingdom to its knees, after all the great Borland propaganda machine has been very busy these last few days. I'd like to begin by thanking them for bringing this issue I must address tonight to my attention, however I fear it will not have the impact you suggest. I fear many of you will see this announcement as anti-climatic, it does not effect any of you watching, tomorrow no doubt you will go to work, chat about it at lunch with co-workers, maybe with class mates, strangers in the supermarket, but thats the only thing you'll do. That's the only impact it will have on your life. These last few days however have had a major impact on my life, my families and most importantly the "innocent" that Barren spoke of. You see the "dark secret" my sister hides is not of her doing and I salute the courage it takes for her to allow me to sit here and share it with you. As a young girl my sister was raped by a man our family trusted, a man who my father considered a friend. My father, misguided by his devotion to duty hide the resulting pregnancy from even his own family. My sister was sent away, and isolated from her siblings in secret gave birth to a daughter. That's it folks, that's the big secret that will topple a religion, a woman was raped and made a mistake. It takes nothing away from everything my sister has done from that moment onwards, it takes nothing away from the devotion she shows to the faithful of the Cult of Helus around the globe and it in no way diminishes how amazing a person she is. The fact that Barren would use a woman's rape as a cheap attempt to earn support for his own puppet of a Priestess is embarrassing. All you have done Kyle is make the Ironside family stronger, you see while you've been dreaming of our family collapse I've meet my niece. For the first time ever I'd like to thank a Borlander, had you not brought this matter to my attention I may never have got to meet the remarkable young woman. I know many of you will want to know who this girl is, and that will come with time. For now I would ask the media to please respect our families privacy as clearly we have some catching up to do. When the time is right I am sure we'll speak to the press again. Thank you for your support. May The Gods Watch Over You and Your Family sleep sound." |

![]() ![]() ROYAL FAMILY REVEAL DETAILS OF NEWEST MEMBER After announcing that High Priestess Princess Joanna has a long lost daughter the Royal Palace have responded to claims by the Borlanders about the young girl. The Royal Family have still asked for privacy to allow them to help the girl settle into her new surrondings. The young girl, known as Sophie Morris, has just recently celebrated her 17th birthday and has lived in a children's home in Keepton since the age of 12. Originally adopted by Rachael and Eric Maddison, both who died tragically in a car accident. A keen athlete she recently became a member of the East Moreland Junior Cross Country team and has hopes to one day compete for East Moreland in the Independent Order Games. A student of Keepton Riverside School it is expected that she may transfer to Northfort Academy for Girls, the school that has traditionally educated female members of the Royal family. "While the Borlanders claim she has had a troubled past the truth is much different" said Alex Redfern, Chief of Royal Household, "she had two terrific parents in the Harrisons and has had a stable home at the Keepton children's home, the one blot on her records was for tagging her athletic clubs name on a rival clubs changing rooms, nothing malicious, just a case of teenage high jinks gone wrong, its not exactly a high crime." The Palace have yet to confirm what title if any will be confered on Sophie nor exactly what the future holds. TEAM EM RETURN TO HEROES WELCOME ![]() East Moreland atheltes returned home to Northfort last night to a heroes welcome as hundreds turned up outside the airport to welcome their new sporting legends home. As a nation never renowned for Winter Sports East Moreland suprised even themselves by finishing 2nd in the medal table. The King was at the airport to welcome home the team. "I've had many days when I've been proud to be King of East Moreland, witnessing what these atheletes have achieved is certianly up there." The team won an astonishing 29 medals including 13 Gold, mainly from dominating the Biathlon event. 12 days ago team captain Major Simon Collins said ""We've set ourselves a target of five golds and a total of ten medals, we know its ambitious as its our first international event but we're eager to get stuck in and confident in our abilities." Upon his return, with his own silver medal in the biathlon he said "As each medal came in I became more and more confident that we'd hit our target, it was when the medals just seemed to keep coming that I thought we could maybe just top the table, I was actually gutted when the Quinntopian's pipped us at the post so to speak. I'd like to say to the organisers it was a great games and I look forward to doing it all again in the future." It is expected like with the Summer Games the King will host a celebration for the athletes in the coming days. PRINCESS ENJOYS SCI-FI CONVENTION ![]() As sci-fi fans from across the Kingdom gathered in Silverhills for the 2nd Annual Sci-Fi Spectaculor Princess Freya made a surprise appearance. It is well known that her brother David is a fan of several sci-fi shows yet he was absent. Instead the Princess spent time talking to those visiting the Silverhills Indoor Arena and seemed to enjoy taking in the sights herself. She even found time to have a photo with a sci-fi legend. "I've always been a big fan of Dr.Who, I blame my brother, he was the geek of the family. I just know he'll be jealous. I did ask if there was any chance of the Dalek joining Red Legion but he didn't seem interested." |

![]() ![]() SSC HONEYBADGER NARROWLY MISSES RECORD Out in Dijel the EMAC backed Team HoneyBadger had their first attempt at claiming the world land speed record. The record is currently held by Team Tomahawk, another EMAC backed team who set the record in 2010 by reaching the speed 804mph. On the Alu-Maji salt flats of Dijel the team conducted two runs, the first at 807mph and the second at 800 mph giving an average speed of 803.5mph, just 0.5mph short of equalling the record. The car was driven by Wing Commander Danny Jules of the Royal East Moreland Air Force who spoke to the media after the record attempt. "We're delighted with our first run, we thought it would take us several attempts to get things tuned to the salt flat but to set that speed so quickly I'm thrilled." The team expect to make another attempt in two days time after engineers tweek the set up slightly. CEO of EMAC Alan Maybury said, "There are several things we can try to get move speed, some ranging from giving it a lot more engine power to just slightly reducing downforce. We have to walk a fine line between safety and speed. In two days time I'm confident we'll take the record but that's just the start of our task." Danny Jules continued by saying he was thrilled at the prospect of being the first human to reach 1000mph in a car. "The adrenaline buzz for each run is incredible. I remember the first time I hit 800mph I thought it would take me weeks to come down, I can only imagine what it will be like when I hit 1000mph" When asked if he was confident of hitting what has become the magic number he replied, "We'll get there, its just a matter of time, as long as the flats keep this good we'll get it no problem." |

![]() ![]() EAST MORELAND FORCES JOIN LIBERATION OF SOVIET SAFRAEN A Ministry of Defence spokesman today confirmed that last night East Moreland forces stationed in the Republic of Safraen had crossed the border into neighbouring Soviet Safraen as part of a CIS attempt to liberate the nation. General Yacobs said, "At 11pm local time naval and air assets launched strikes against strategic targets inside Soviet Safraen. This attack successfully opened up an air corridor for ground forces to cross the boarder. The decision to attack was not taken lightly and came after medical teams confirmed a new outbreak of the Kaiju Virus which decimated Safraen. Fearful of further Soviet backed atrocities the decision was made alongside the government of the Republic of Safraen to launch an offensive aimed at rescuing as many people as possible from possible danger. Once areas are secure medics will search for and if necessary treat anyone infected." The exact nature and make up of the East Moreland armed forces operating there are unknown but it is expected that Legion strength forces will have been deployed. General Yacobs went on to explain, "We have commited significant assets to this, in addition to helping the people of the Soviet controlled area of Safraen we hope this will have the knock on effect of relieving some of the pressure on Meche who have been under attack by the USR and Soviet Safraen forces." ![]() SOPHIE TO BE GIVEN TITLE[/b][/big][/big][/big] Chief of Royal Household Alex Redfern today confirmed that the daughter of High Priestess Joanna is due to be given a royal title. "After consulting several scholars and legal authorities His Majesty King David has decided to confer on his niece the title of Archduchess. This follows the only precedent we have which was from the reign of King Sebastein, therefore the King feels compelled to bestow the same title." The precedent referred to by Mr.Redfern was explained by Dr.Merriman of CETO. During the 14th Century King Sebastein's younger sister Amanda had a child out of wedlock, however because the King was so devoted to his sister he couldn't bring himself to exile her and her child and instead added the child to the royal line of succession. There is clearly strong parallels with the case and with the King being so interested in History it is not hard to think why he has chosen this approach." Social media has shown a split amongst Royal supporters over this matter that will, until the King's own children are born, make Sophie 2nd in line to the throne. Many believe that the King should grant a lesser title however not make her part of the line of succession. One leading royal commentator said, "I am not surprised that the King has done this, he's clearly very dedicated to his family and a firm believer in the importance of ensuring that those with the bloodline of King Robert I are seen as part of the family. With several of the family branches dying out I'm sure the King see's this as a way of strengthening the family." The King is likely to officially grant the title to her in the coming days at what will be a formal ceremony in the Temple of Helus. Sophie is yet to face the media however it is expected that she will do so prior to the ceremony. |

![]() ![]() We join Royal Correspondent Shelly Coe at Northfort Palace where she is joined by the newest addition to the Royal Family, the soon to be Archduchess Sophie and supporting her through her first ever media interview is Princess Freya. SC -"First I'd like to thank you for allowing me to interview you, I'm sure that the public will be very interested to get to know you. If we may I'd like to begin by asking you to just tell our viewers about your life so far....if thats OK." S- "That's fine. I have basically spent all my life in Keepton, first I was adopted as a 3 week old baby by the Maddison family, they are my parents in my eyes. I couldn't have asked for a better childhood up until I was 12 years old, I had fun family holidays with them, they took me to sports and I suppose I was just like every other child. Then they both died and I found myself in a children's home....and well I guess people prefer to adopt cute little babies not teens heading through puberty. I found myself passed around a few children's homes and foster parents but nothing worked out really. Then I ended up finding out about my birth mother and I guess that brings me to here." SC- "Interesting that you draw a definate distinction between the Maddison's and your mother Joanna. S- "You mean my birth mother. Rachel Maddison dedicated twelve years of her life to making me a happy child, she'll always be my mother. I guess I'm now just lucky that I have discovered my birth mother and I have a chance to build a special relationship with her, however Rachel Maddison will always be the person I call Mum. SC- "Erm...of course. So how did you feel when you found out you were related to royalty?" S- "Its still not sunk in. I still keep imagining I'll be heading back to Keepton soon, but the King , Freya and Joanna have been really kind and I've loved getting to know them all. I suppose its only when I know them incredibly well it will sink in that I'm part of their family. I have to admit though at first I was really angry, that I'd been abandoned, but then I think I wouldn't be who I am if I hadn't been adopted, so for that in a way I'm thankful." SC- "How have you found living in the Palace?" S- "It's certainly better than a children's home. I had to share a bathroom with four other girls, so I guess you can imagine it being a nightmare first thing in a morning, now I have my own rooms so thats great. I still can't get used to how the people working here are around me though, being called Ma'am just seems weird, I mean I'm 17 and still in school. I do like being able to order whatever I want to eat whenever though. SC- "Will you be living permanantly at the Palace?" S- "I'll be living with my new family yes. The details we still are working out, but I'm looking forward to living in Northfort but I'll miss my friends Jenny and Katie from Keepton. I guess though I'd have hopefully been going to University next year anyway so we'd have been moving away from each other then, and Skype means we can still chat and stuff. SC- "Have your plans for the future changed?" S- "Not yet, I still plan on going to university, I'm torn between studying History or Sports Sciences as I enjoy both subjects. Beyond that I guess I'll do my national service and then see where I end up, I tend not to be great at planning to far ahead, I never had any stability so it just became normal for me I guess. SC- "How do you feel about being granted the title of Archduchess?" S- I'll be honest I don't really know what an Archduchess does, the King said its been like 500 years since anyone last had the title in a way that's good as it means there is hardly anyone to compare me too. SC- "What do you enjoy doing for fun?" S- As odd as it sounds I love running, I just like to put my headphones on and run, I do cross country competitions and I'd love to represent East Moreland at the Independent Order Games but that's some time off yet. Other than that I like punk and ska music , I'm trying to learn how to play the guitar but I really suck at the moment. I guess like lots of teenage girls I like hanging out with my friends, eating pizza and just having some fun." SC- "So what is Freya like as an auntie" S- "She's kind of the fun auntie, she's probably been the less stressed about all this, its like she's known me all her life she just kind of accepted me being here and has just treated me like she's known me all my life. Its made it dead easy to relax and get to know everyone else. The King and Joanna have been brilliant too but I suppose they have much more to consider than Freya. SC- "And Your Highness what's Sophie like as a niece." F - "After everything she's gone through in such a short period she's still coming out of her shell and I can't wait to meet the proper Sophie, she's fun , confident and obviously strong willed, she'll make a perfect Ironside. SC- If I may ask one final question. The Borlanders tried to paint you as someone with a dark troubled past, would you like an opportunity to put that straight?" S- "As a younger kid I did some things that if I had the chance to go back I wouldn't do again, but show me an adult who hasn't done the same. I got arrested once for vandalism for graffiting a rival running clubs changing rooms, it was dumb and I apologised and repaired the damage I caused. I was banned from competing for 6 months by my own club. I was ashamed and I still am today, however I wouldn't call myself a criminal mastermind. I've had issues settling in with families but I suppose lots of kids in care have, been passed around because you don't quiet fit into a family has that effect on you after time. I honestly think though they blew everything out of proportion, I've never done anything I'm really ashamed of except that one issue with the Police and I'll carry that shame in my heart for the rest of my days." SC- "Well that concludes our interview, I hope your ennoblement ceremony goes well, and thank you for giving us this opportunity. To everyone at home we wish you a pleasant evening. " |

![]() ![]() ![]() MUNDUS ROCKED BY ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS In the last 48 hours Mundus has been rocked by four assasination attempts. The first came the attempt at killing Shogun Aang Yoshimo of Toshikawa, an attack using poison and gunmen. Unfortunatley the Toshikawan PM died during the attack. Meanwhile hours later in Rokkenjima a gunman from the Littlebrook Republican Army attempted to kill Empress Beatrice and Emperor Alex as they left the Imperial Diet in Rokkenjima. The attempt on the Shogun was thought to have been carried out by assassins from the rebel forces that the loyalists, with aid from East Moreland forces are fighting. The shogun suffered poisioning and several gunshot wounds. It is believed that the Emperors Sake was poisioned and while struggling to find help several assassins attacked him with firearms, however it is believed the Emperor managed to fight them off with his katana. As of publication he remains in a coma with doctors concerned about long term health issues. Meanwhile the attack on the Imperial Couple has been claimed by members of the terrorist organisation known as the Littlebrook Republican Army. The head of the Empresses security, Lucinda Hadley, was injured in the attack and is still in hospital having taken the bullets intended for the couple. Early reports suggest a 3D printed gun was used in the attack. The King of East Moreland commented on the attacks during a meeting of the Royal Assembly. "The recent attacks on three leaders we consider friends has seen one man die and another brave woman injured. Terrorism has once again reared its head on Mundus and thankfully failed in its ambition to disrupt the proper governments of nations. We send our condolences to the family of Prime Minister Ido Kaga and our best wishes to both Miss Hadley and Shogun Aang Yoshimo for a speedy and full recovery. We also say to Dartfordia, Rokkenjima and Toshikawa that we will if required offer any assistance to ensure that the cowards responsible for such acts are punished. Terrorism has no place in a civilised society and those that practice it deserve nothing but our contempt." ARCHDUCHESS TO BE PART OF MORE AND MUNDUS SCHEME The Royal Palace today confirmed that the soon to be ennobled Archduchess Sophie will be taking part in the More and Mundus Youth Exchange programme. Royal spokesman Alex Redfern said "The Archduchess was already part of the programme before this recent drama unfolded. We felt it would be unfair on her exchange partner Lucy MacDonald to back out now after they've exchanged several e-mails. I suspect though the experience the young lady from Dartfordia will get will be much different to the one she would have experienced staying at a children's home in Keepton." The Archduchess will play host to the Dartfordian girl in the coming days before at some point in the near future going to visit Dartfordia. The exchange programme begins on Sunday and it is expected somewhere in the region of 500 young people from around Mundus will be in East Moreland for the annual HoneyBadger Day festival. Chief Councillor Tim Carpenter was the patron of the scheme and he spoke to us of his excitement. "I can't wait to see the friendships that develop. Its now going to be even better knowing our royal family are going to be involved, it shows just how valued the programme is. I'm also delighted that our future Archduchess will be visiting Dartfordia , I believe its essential that our royal family have experience of other lands and cultures and this will certainly achieve that." |

![]() ![]() HONEYBADGER DAY CELEBRATIONS BEGIN The annual HoneyBadger celebrations began today with thousands of people taking to the streets of the cities of East Moreland. The morning began with the usual early morning trip to the Temples and then straight to the bars on what is estimated to be the bar industries busiest day of the year. In Northfort the roads leading to the old market square were turned into the usual giant street party with people enjoying the live music and street food stalls. In the People's Park the annual HoneyBadger parade took place with an estimated 3,500 people taking part in a 5km run dressed as HoneyBadgers, this year Chief Councillor Tim Carpenter took part coming in somewhere in the pack having lost his tail somewhere on the course. Meanwhile hundreds of students from around Mundus took part in the celebration as part of the More and Mundus campaign. The celebrations are expected to last all day and a major music concert is expected in the city centre of Silverhills featuring some of the biggest bands in Mundus. The day also featured many ennoblements. The major one was the ennoblement of Archduchess Sophie of Keepton. Others ennobelled include Alan Maybury, CEO of EMAC who becomes Lord Maybury and General Helen Yacobs becomes a Dame. KING EMBARRASSED AT ENNOBLEMENT CEREMONY ![]() During the ennoblement ceremony at the Temple of Helus in Northfort the new Archduchess caused a moment of embarasment for the King. As King David called for his niece to come to the alter to receive her coronet the young girl refused to move. The King again called for "Sophie Ironside" to approach and still the youngster remained seated. It was only after the intervention of High Priestess Princess Joanna that the King realised he had made a mistake from what they had rehearsed. Royal spokesman Alex Redfern said "Occasionally even the King gets these things wrong. After speaking to his niece they had agreed that she would use both her adoptive family name and the royal family name, the King, caught up in the moment, forgot that they had agreed this. I can assure you Archduchess Sophie meant no disrespect to her uncle and only wished to have the memory of the two dedicated people who raised her honoured." The King apologised for his mistake before proceeding with the ceremony. He then escorted his niece out of the car and the family made their way back to the palace before heading to the airport to pick up the Archduchesses exchange partner from the More and Mundus project. MORE AND MUNDUS PROJECT BEGINS ![]() Several hundred students from around Mundus have arrived in East Moreland today as part of the More and Mundus exchange programme. The brainchild of Chief Councillor Tim Carpenter the project aims to build friendships between young people from around the globe and hopefully build closer relationships between nations. The project is hoped to become an annual event and extended to many other nations. As Tim Carpenter greeted students at Silverhills airport he spoke to the media. "This was originally just one of those thoughts that pops into your head, I'm just thankful so many people from around the world have agreed to take part and I hope that the work the schools and teachers have done lays great foundations for lasting friendships." The project has seen students exchanging letters and e-mails with their exchange partners for a number of months in preparation. One of those taking part is Archduchess Sophie who is paired with a Miss Lucy MacDonald from Dartfordia. Once the pair had been officially introduced at Northfort airport the pair headed out with the Royal family into Northfort to enjoy the days festivities. |

![]() ![]() DANCING TRAFFIC LIGHTS TO BE ROLLED OUT ACROSS NATION A unique new system of traffic lights is to be introduced nationwide after a successful test period in Ostlake. During the Ostlake Dance Festival a system of traffic lights in which the "Red Man" dances was introduced. The "Red Man" was actually controlled by people dancing in a near by booth and was transmitted in real time to the traffic lights. The system was only intended to be a gimmick for the duration of Ostlake's annual Dance Festival, however the system had proved so popular with tourists and has been shown to have reduced accidents at road crossings that it has prompted the Highways Agency to install the system in the centre of other East Moreland cities. Known as the "Fun Crossing" the system has shown that 81% of people now stop at the crossing and wait for the green "Go" signal before crossing the road, as opposed to previously where around only 40% of people would wait. Ostlake Mayor Glenda Moore said "the signals have proved to be extremely popular, people have actually been spotted waiting for several cycles of red and green before crossing just to see what their friends will do." The system was originally intended to be taken out in February after the festival ended but the Mayor blocked the removal. "I received a petition of 3,000 names demanding we keep them. It was incredible, the local newspapers were flooded with letters in which people said how much they lights brightened up their day. If it puts smiles on faces and cuts down the number of accidents then it would be insane to remove them." 7 year old Jenny Green from Ostlake was on of the people who signed the petition. "I love dancing in the booth. Me and my friends often stop on our way home from school and make our Mum's let us go in and dance. I like watching my friends faces on the camera inside." When asked if it had made her safer crossing the road she replied. "I always used to feel like getting across when it looked safe but Mummy had to pull me back quiet a bit, now I always watch the red man, its funny seeing what people do." Jenny's Mum also liked the new lights, "Its amazing, children now are so focused on watching the lights they always know when its time to cross, I think they've definatly cut down the number of accidents." Graham Hardy works for the company who designed the system, he said, "We never thought of it helping improve road safety, we just got asked to come up with some fun ideas for Ostlake Dance festival and someone came up with this, we thought it'd entertain the crowds for a bit, but to hear its helping cut the number of accidents , especially of children is amazing. I'm proud to see the idea going across the nation." The new system will not be installed at every crossing in the Kingdom, it will however be used in areas of high footfall within the centre of towns and close to tourist attractions and areas with a high number of accidents. |

![]() ![]() SSC HONEYBADGER BREAKS RECORD There were major celebrations on the Alu-Maji salt flats of Dijel yesterday as SSC Honeybadger broke the land speed record previously held by their East Moreland ancestor Tomahawk. After a failed record attempt last week the car had undergone slight adjustments and the car recorded an average speed of 833mph over two runs. With Wing Commander Danny Jules at the wheel he recorded a speed of 830mph on his first run, and managed to return 20 minutes later recording a speed on 836mph. The new record is 26mph faster than the previous record, also driven by WC Jules. "We're thrilled" EMAC CEO and Team HoneyBadger spokesman Alan Maybury said, "We expected to beat the record but we actually thought it would take more runs than this, to get it on our second attempt is a massive testament to the skills and hard work of all the engineers who have been involved." The record run was televised live in East Moreland and other nations across Mundus. "The fact we've claimed the record again makes this well worthwhile, however we set ourselves the target of doing something major, we want that 1000mph barrier, the cars got more to give and we're learning new things on every run. I think it'll maybe take us a few more attempts and you'll see the record go several times before we hit the magic number." WC Danny Jules had trained in Achkaerin before the test run. "To know I've driven faster than anyone else is incredible, to be able to have justified all the hard work the boys and girls back in the labs, factories and offices makes this worthwhile. Its been a real team effort and I'm sure we can hit our target." The car is expected to have a few minor modifications and the engine adjusted to produce more thrust, "The engine needs to bed in a bit before we can give it everything, we knew that'd be the case, the techs will tinker around for a few days and then we'll go again." Jules explained. When asked what the team would do until then he said, "In the next few days I don't know, tonight I suspect they'll be some well deserved beers." |

![]() ![]() CYBORG CLASS CARRIER BEGINS OPERATIONAL TESTING The latest addition to the Royal East Moreland Navy began operational testing yesterday. Bearing the name REMNS Cylon the ship is expected to begin testing in the Great North Sea. The REMNS Cylon marks a new breed of aircraft carrier using drone aircraft rather than the traditional pilot controlled ones. The ship is capable of carrying up to 180 aircraft drones and also contains a "moonlight pool" that allows drone submersibles to enter and exit the carrier undetected. In addition the ship can carry two helicopters and should the need arise two VSTOL combat planes. Admiral Thane of the REMN said "We believe that the Cyborg class on ship will bring about a new dimension in our capabilities. We can now operate drone aircraft in literally every theatre on Mundus. The numbers of drones we can get in the air is also far in excess of the number of combat aircraft a conventional fighter can have. We do not see this class replacing the concept of the traditional carrier, however it certainly helps expand our capabilities." The ship has a crew compliment of 85 sailors and 20 technicians, meanwhile all drone operations can be carried out by operators at Ostlake back in East Moreland. The ship was officially named by Princess Freya in a ceremony at Illumic Command. "The ship once again shows East Moreland's commitment to innovation with our military, we may not have the biggest of armed forces, however we punch well above our weight thanks to our excellent military training and the skills and ingenuity of the designers of such equipment as this." The Princess also confirmed that a further two ships are being constructed to be named REMNS Borg and REMNS Dalek. |

![]() ![]() EAST MORELAND TROOPS MOVE TOWARDS ELMRICH TOWN East Moreland forces have pushed into Soviet Safraen reaching Elmrich Town with minimal resistance. After a week of fighting the men and women of the East Moreland Army are preparing to take the small town however initial reports suggest that Soviet forces are well dug in. An East Moreland military spokesman briefed the press on the situation, "The town marks a major checkpoint on our path to liberate the Soviet half of Safraen, once it falls the gateway to the province beyond lie open and the chances of the Soviet's mounting a serious defence diminishes." The East Moreland Army has faced several stern challenges in reaching the city, the most major one being a prolonged battle to seize a major river crossing point, "That seriously held us up and has allowed the local forces to dig in, making our job here quiet a bit harder." The swift advance however has not been without casualties, to date 307 East Moreland soldiers have been killed while a further 382 have been evacuated back to East Moreland with injuries. "Our men and women have made great sacrifices for the cause of freedom, in the highest traditions of the Code of Canley they have made the protection of innocents their personal responsibility." VEROVIAN TROOPS ACCUSED OF WAR CRIMES Allegations have been made that Verovian military personel have carried out executions of Prisoners of War. East Moreland's CIS allies have been part of the liberation attempts in Safraen, however capture Soviet POW's have claimed they witnesses comrades murdered after surrendering, meanwhile East Moreland reconnaissance jets have found suspected scenes of these executions. In a statement released soon after the allegations surfaced the Emperor of Verover choose not to speak of the actions of his men instead to focus on attempts to dismiss the claims as those making them were Communists. This dismissal did not go down well with King David who believes that the Emperor is merely making the resolve of Soviet forces increase. "Our Legionnaires had seen a steady stream of enemies surrendering, and as with the Code of Canley our Legionnaires allowed unarmed enemies to give themselves up and enter into our custody. As these allegations spread it is certain the Soviet forces will believe surrender to CIS forces means execution, and in the case of ourselves, Dijel, Seaforth and Achkaerin that couldn't be further from the truth. I now believe we will see this stream of POW's dry up as they prefer to take their chances in combat. It is unfortunate that Verover choose not to distance themselves from these allegations or call on their men to honour the rules of war. I am sure most members of their military do, however it would sadly seem some elements have been out of control and I would hope the Emperor would publicly seek to ensure his men don't discredit the CIS' good name." ![]() OSMANTECH UNVEIL NEWEST CREATION Yesterday CEO of OsmanTech Lord Lucas Osman unveiled the companies newest medical product, Silk Screws and Plates. The company have been working on these for some time and have now perfected the production using silkworms. Lord Osman was keen to point out the benefits of these new products. "While the medical world have done great things in trauma surgury one often heard complaint is that after rebuilding a limb or piece of bone with screws they often have to go back in and remove them at some later point. After genetically altering some silkworms and creating a manufacturing process we are able to produce silk screws and plates that will last from a few weeks to a few years before dissolving." the CEO was also keen to point out the other advantages "Silk materials are extremely robust. They maintain structural stability under very high temperatures and withstand other extreme conditions, and they can be readily sterilized. One of the other big advantages of silk is that it can stabilize and deliver bioactive components, so that plates and screws made of silk could actually deliver antibiotics to prevent infection, pharmaceuticals to enhance bone regrowth and other therapeutics to support healing." Around 189,000 screws are used each year in East Moreland during re-constructive surgery and many of these require follow up operations to remove. It is hoped these new screws will cut down the number of operations needed and free up some trauma theatre time. Many also believe that the new screws will be a benefit for travellers. "These new screws won't show up in airport scans and x-rays" said Lord Osman, "The fact they don't show on X-Rays will give surgeons an easier view of fractures in the follow up assessments and allow them a clearer view of the healing." It is expected that the product will be made available globally especially as Lord Osman announced that he had recently agreed a lease on company space in the International Trade Centre in Rokkenjima marking the companies first major overseas headquarters. "It is vital that our company expands overseas, we have an interest in all manner of ethical technologies and thats a growing market both in terms of potential sales and R&D talent, nations like Rokkenjima have shown they have talented technology developers and if we can tap into that market it'll be a great boon for us, and hopefully both Rokkenjima and East Moreland." |

![]() QUEEN MATILDA RUSHED TO HOSPITAL Following a collapse at Northfort Palace today Queen Matilda was rushed to Northfort Royal Infirmary. The cause of the collapse has not been revealed to the media however Head of the Royal Household, Alex Redfern said, "The doctors have given the Queen a clean bill of health after a very thorough medical exam." An ambulance was seen leaving Northfort Palace around 10am followed by several cars of royal staff. The King was not present at the palace at the time and was at a scheduled meeting with members of the Ministry of Education. Upon hearing of his wife's admission into hospital the King rushed to be with her. At around 4pm the Queen was released from hospital and made her way home after sparing a few minutes to thank well wishers who had gathered outside the hospital. The King has cancelled all his scheduled meetings for the rest of the week and his sister Princess Freya has taken over some of the workload. The King made a brief visit to a local Air Cadet youth group to present some awards and spoke to the press for a few moments. "This event had been in the diary for quiet some time, these young people had done great work raising money for charities myself and Matilda are patrons of, it wouldn't have been right to miss presenting them these awards." He then went on to say, "Matilda is doing fine and the twins seem to be doing well, doctors believe it was just been a one off and reassured us there is nothing to worry about. I'd like to thank the staff at the hospital for their fantastic work." ![]() TEAM HONEYBADGER HIT MAGIC MARK On the Alu-Maji salt flats of Dijel the land speed record went again yesterday, this time with the team hitting the magic 1000mph mark. This was achieved by the narrowest of margins, Wing Commander Danny Jules first run was clocked at 1000.2mph while the second five minutes later was slightly slower at 999.9mph giving an average over the two runs of 1000.05mph. EMAC CEO Sir Alan Maybury was delighted with the result. "By the skin of our teeth we hit our target, at first we weren't sure if the record would stand as the tailwind was right on the borderline for the second run but once the officials gave it the green light the celebrations began." The team had expected the 1000mph barrier to fall after another two runs and the team still plan to carry out at least one further run. Wing Commander Jules was at the controls. "It felt incredible, the adrenaline rush was far better than anything I've ever experienced, to think we get one more run is amazing. We could smash this record." he said enthusiastically. The King sent a message of congratulations to the team. "Once again men and women of East Moreland have shown that we are capable of pushing the boundaries of what is possible to the limit, the people involved in this are a credit to our nation and I'm very proud to see a team from East Moreland do something so landmark. I look forward to welcoming them home and seeing the record breaking car myself." |

![]() ![]() LESSER ROCKHAM TEMPLE REOPENS AFTER CETO PROJECT After 18 months of intensive work the Stave Temple at Little Rockham dedicated to the God Helus has re-opened. After being closed in 1703 due to water damage a team of experts from East Morelands CETO delegation has restored the original building using as close to origin materials and techniques as possible. The Temple was rededicated by the High Priestess Joanna who spoke of the delight of conducting worship in the traditional Morelandish language. "Some how everything about today felt magical. Having worship in a beautiful wooden temple built by the hands of those who loved their Gods, restored by people proud of their heritage in a language regaining its rightful place in our nation, its everything a Priestess could dream of" The restoration project cost around £EM 4million and was largely carried out by skilled voulenteers, one of those was Callum Harper, a 37 year old carpenter from the town. "This old building has stood for centuries just gathering dust. To have sat in there today and hear the place resonate with life once more was amazing. It made all those early mornings working in bad weather worth it." The High Priestess is expected to name a custodian for the Temple in the coming days but was keen to stress she intends to return to the Temple often. "Its not just the stunning craftsmanship of the Temple its the amazing setting, high in an Alpine valley, snow on the hills and green pasture land, its just the most serene temple I've ever been inside and I plan on visiting often." ARCHDUCHESS COMES FIRST IN NORTHFORT 10 KM Archduchess Sophie Harrison-Ironside wonthe junior race in the annual Northfort 10km Cross Country Open. The young royal is already a member of the North of EM cross country team and before being taken into the royal family was tipped for a future medal prospect at the Independent Order Games. The run was started this year by Queen Matilda while King David and his sister Princess Freya competed in the 5km fun run category as a three legged team. High Priestess Princess Joanna took part in the 10km fun run category but found the going tough, "I've not really run properly in years and that was tough, I'm very proud of Sophie for doing so well." It was Sophie however who stole the show finishing in 31minutes 22seconds, just three seconds outside the East Moreland Junior record. Cheered on by many members of her school the youngster finished around thirty seconds clear of the 2nd place finisher. King David and his sister finished the race quiet a way down the field but managed to raise around £46,000 for "Fight Back" a charity that supports injured servicemen and women. "Its a charity close to both our hearts and we're glad we've been able to do something to help them." |

![]() ![]() "QUEEN MATILDA ACT" COMES INTO FORCE Today the Trade in Endangered Animals Act passed both Council votes and was signed into law by King David. The Act referred to by many as the "Queen Matilda Act" aims to curtail the trade in endangered animals and products manufactured from them. The Act was drafted by the Queen, a keen supporter of animal welfare and a former Marine Researcher at Portworth, however the King choose not to use his powers to instantly bring it into law, speaking to the Executive Council as the bill was introduced he said, "This bill should be judged on its own merits and not the position of its author." Three hours later the act passed the vote of the Executive Councillors 62-11. The King had left prior to the vote but signed the law into effect less than an hour later. "I'm proud that East Moreland can lead the way in helping reduce the trade in endangered animals. I hope other nations will now follow and pass similar laws. I'm also very proud of my wife for taking this issue on and gathering so much support." When asked why he had insisted the law go through the Councils he stated, "This law was important, the last thing I wanted was a situation where people could say my wife had used her influence to circumvent what people wanted, the fact both Councils overwhelmingly supported the new law shows I am now justified in enacting it." Queen Matilda meanwhile was keen to point out that the issue is not over. "We currently have a situation where one of our closest neighbours prays upon a dying species. The oceans are a delicate ecosystem, we saw this last year with the fishing crisis, and many nations have worked wonders ensuring this ecosystem doesn't collapse. We now have Toshikawa dragging countless whales from this ecosystem at a time when the species hangs on the brink." The Queen choose not to comment on the unfolding situation in the Illumic stating, "I am not the person making decisions, I support my husband and occasionally in private give my opinion when asked, whatever my husband decides to do is for the best interests of the Kingdom." The Queen however did add, "The anti-whalers are carrying out a noble act, I may not agree with their methods, but I certainly hope they saved some whales, at the moment I'm just praying they are returned safely to land and hope that nations bear that in mind when making threats, at the end of the day the oceans are not a place to play about with peoples safety." The text of the new act is printed below. East Moreland's Trade in Endangered Animals Act As whales are classed as an endangered species restaurants and stores across East Moreland serving Toshikawan food will now be unable to have the national delicacy on their menu. Ryo Nabishima the owner of the Little Toshikawan Cafe in Silverhills said "It is a sad day that I can't share some of my nations favourite dishes with my neighbours anymore. I know my business is good and I just hope that this will not effect me. I see it as a slight attack on my culture but its not enough for me to pack up a good restaurant and return home." |

![]() ![]() KING TO BEGIN BIRTH PILGRIMAGE King David III is due to start the traditional "Birth Pilgrimage" in the next week. The tradition dates back to the reign of Alfred the Liberator who in 1447 made the journey from Northfort to Keepton in order to ask for King Robert's blessing for the birth of his first child and future Queenenen Rhiannon The Fierce. Since then every monarch has taken the pilgrimage for at least the birth of their first child, many repeating it for each child they produced. The traditional pilgrimage begins at sunrise around a month away from the date of the expected birth, and it is expected that the King travels by horse, is self sufficent and travels with one escort known as his shield brother. The King is also supposed to dress in his red tunic signifying his sword ceremony. Many people believe that Chief of Royal Household and close friend Alex Redfern will be selected as the shield brother despite not being a member of nobility. Along the route the King and his shield brother are expected to stop and pray at several temples as well as conduct charitable deeds. King David's own father King Sven undertook the pilgrimage on the birth of each of his three children and once famously spent an afternoon digging a well on a farm as payment for being permitted to sleep in a barn for the night. The exact route King David will take will not be announced nor from where he will start it, although the Palace is the most likely option. Royal Chamberlain Stephen Reynolds, aged 87, has witnessed six of these pilgrimages depart and taken part in one himself, when he was Shield Brother of King Sven when he made it before the birth of Princess Freya. "It was one of the greatest honours of my life to be asked to undertake the journey with the King. It signifies your their most trusted companion. I must admit its not the easiest of journeys and the King will be cold, hungry and probably exhausted at times, however it is an amazing experience that I know His Majesty is eagerly anticipating." The journey is expected to take a little over a week. During that time Princess Freya will represent the nation in foreign affairs and cabinet meetings will take place under the guidance of Prime Minister Samuelson. The King though will remain in contact with the Palace should emergencies arise. WHALE MEAT OFFICIALLY OFF THE MENU FROM TOMORROW ![]() With the introduction of the "Queen Matilda Law" to protect endangered animals today signifies the last day that whale meat can be sold in East Moreland. Many restaurants and fish markets have already taken the item off their menu however supplies held in storage must either be used today or destroyed. The new law comes into force at midnight meaning that traditional Toshikawan and Seaforthian style restaurants must not serve the dish anymore. "The Act clearly does not prevent these nations Whaling, however we as a nation have decided that we want to do as much as possible to protect endangered species and therefore do not wish to support this trade anymore." said Foreign Minister Robert Kennedy, "While we'd be delighted to see nations stop whaling all together we think this may be some way off at the present moment, what we can control however is what comes into our nation." he added. The new law effects a small number of restaurants and speaking to Morelanders using the restaurants it would appear sales of Whale meat were very low. One diner at the Seaforth Seafood Bar told us, "Whale meat never appealed to me, its just weird eating something that big I guess." while a diner at the Toshikawa Sushi Shack said, "there are plenty of other things on the menu, I can't see Whale meat being off the menu stopping me eating here." |

![]() ![]() PRINCESS FREYA TO "HOLD THE FORT" As the King and Chief of Household Alex Redfern commenced the Birth Pilgrimage this morning King David III announced that his sister Princess Freya was, "Taking care of the day to day running of the Kingdom, she'll be representing me in various functions and discussions and generally holding the fort. Unlike Alfred the Liberator though I'll have a mobile phone, so I'll still be able to make any important decisions." the King said as he and Redfern left the Palace compound heading North by horse and trap. The pair will travel by horse and sleep in the wilds, they carry only their swords, blankets and food for two days as well as gifts to present to the Gods at various temples along the way. Princess Freya briefed the press following her brothers departure. "This is an experience my brothers really been looking forward to, I hope its not too much of an adventure though. While he's gone I'll be following the instructions he's left me so don't expect anything major. My first point of business will however be to look into the impact the betrayal of the Seaforth Foreign Legion has had on our Kingdom, numbers haven't been confirmed but I fear we should be prepared for severe casualties." The Princesses warning comes after the Seaforth News Network released the news that the Legion was decimated by the turncoat Verovain military. While the Seaforth government are yet to release details of casualties by home nations a East Moreland presence in the Legion was known. The Legion recruits foreign nationals and offers them citizenship after service, many see it as an adventure and join, while others do so to make a fresh start in a new country. Princess Freya addressed the massacre. " As a soldier myself I can think of no horror greater than to see so many killed needlessly by those they thought were their allies. It's a sad day to see a proud unit hit so hard. Our thoughts are with the families of those effected. For those Legionnaires who were followers of the Cult of Helus, I have asked my brother to carry an offering to Jekar during his pilgrimage and offer prayers for all the soldiers who have died. Jekar was our warrior God and known as the first Legionnaire and I am sure he would be proud of the stand these Legionnaires made." The offering being carried is thought to be a bow the Princess made when young in keeping with the belief that such gifts carry more weight to the prayers offered. |

![]() ![]() ELMRICH TOWN FALLS A ministry of defence spokesman this morning confirmed that the Soviet Safraen town of Elmrich has fallen to East Moreland troops. After almost a four days of intense street fighting, made worse by the murders of POWS by Verovian forces, the last defenders finally gave in and the town fell under the control of the CIS. General Katie Yacobs said "The men and women of East Moreland's military have done a first class job and we can once again be proud of what they have achieved, in a built up area they were able to avoid civilian casualties and get the job done." The decision to liberate the Soviet came after confimration of the return of the Kaiju Virus. The final push was lead by Royal East Moreland Marines lead by Major Frost who was fighting in Safraen for the second time. "I always hoped we'd not be back here dealing with the virus again, however it did present us with an oppurtuntity to liberate the people living under Soviet oppression. The men and women here have honoured their oaths as soldiers to perfection and I'm proud to have commanded them." Princess Freya sent her congratulations to the Armed Forces on behalf of her brother,. "I'm sure my brother would have been the first to have sent his best wishes to those who have conducted this operation. The fall of Elmrich though has been paid for with the lives of our servicemen and woman who as always have upheld the finest traditions of our nation. My prayers are with those who have lost loved ones and I hope the knowledge that they died creating a safer world will ease your mourning. I will continue to keep those out there in my thoughts as the operation now turns to further objectives. The task is not complete until all the Soviet is free." 2CELLOS TO HEADLINE FREESTONE NYE FESTIVAL ![]() Organisers of the Freestone New Year Eve Festival have announced that classical crossover band 2CELLOS will headline this years event. The annual free festival takes place throughout the city and has had a reputation for having a non mainstream headline act. Stjepan Hauser and Luka Sulic's brand of modern rock on cello has earned them a cult following in the Kingdom. They have just recently finished a national tour which saw a crowd of 80,000 pack King Robert Arena for a show in the capital that was attended by King David and Queen Matilda. "We're very excited to be playing at the festival, and to think last years headliner got 100,000 people watching them just after midnight, it'll be thrilling." said Stjepan. |

![]() "Welcome to tonights broadcast, we are joined fresh off his pilgrimage, by His Majesty the King. Thank you for joining us this evening Your Majesty." "Thanks Shelly its a pleasure to be here." "If I may begin, you've just recently finished the pilgrimage made traditional by King Alfred, could you tell our viewers how you found it?" "Well it was interesting to say the least, I can see why Alfred did it, spending the night in the Temple in Keepton was perhaps one of the most surreal but spiritual nights of my life. The journey itself is also an amazing opportunity I meet so many people I would never have got the chance to see without out, I saw their real lives, not some stage produced welcome and tour. While I have the chance I'd just like to thank everyone for the hospitality they gave two travellers, its great to think thats how hospitable Morelanders can be." "Was there anyone in particular that will stick with you from your journey?" "Everyone I meet will always stick in my mind, yet it was meeting a gentleman called Bob Oldham that I suppose will have the biggest impact, this was an old man who had given amazing service to the Kingdom, yet now we had almost abandoned him in his little farm, we spent the day working in return for a meal and some food for our journey and I was actually sad to leave because he needed so much more." "Would then it be fair to say this may influence future policy?" "Perhaps, the care of veterans and the elderly is something that has certainly been flagged up for me. Whether we need to overhaul anything major I don't know yet, but we'll certainly be seeing if Mr.Oldham is an isolated case or whether this is just the tip of an iceberg." "Your choice of shield brother for the journey was an interesting one, in the past its always been a member of the nobility who has accompanied the King yet you choose your Chief of Royal Household, Alex Redfern, many have said your trying to take away the privilege and standing of the aristocracy, was this another step in that?" "I'm sorry but their is no conspiracy to take away any of the nobilities standing, they are nobles because they deserve to be, should anything change that the individual will find themselves stripped of their titles. I choose Alex because he's not just my Chief of Household, we've known each other a long time, served together in the Army and watched out for each other, to me thats the definition of a shield brother someone who would defend you no matter what." "Alfred spoke in his chronicles of how while staring into the candle he saw the future of his daughter Rhiannon, not yet born at that point, he also says he heard the Gods whispering her name. Did anything like that happen to you." "Not really." the King laughed, "I had a lot of time to think, about my hopes for my children, my wife, the Kingdom, about what kind of a father I want to be, about how I want East Moreland to become. I didn't hear any names, any predictions of the future, lets remember in our family Joanna has the great spirituality not me" "So you haven't considered names for the children yet?" "We've had some discussions, however Shelly we'd prefer to keep them to ourselves for now, I mean we haven't even wanted to know the gender so talking about names would just be speculation." "Or about Sword and Shield Guardians?" "That we've got some thoughts on but we've yet to approach some of them, as you know me and Matilda pick a male and female for each child to be their Sword Guardian or Shield Guardian, while its a largely symbolic role they still have a deep meaning. In the past monarchs have used them as a way of honouring people or cementing friendships, their may be some of that but I suspect Matilda wants it to be people who will actually have a role in their lives." "It seems you've everything set, are you looking forward to parenthood?" "I'm terrified. I made a giant to do list thats on the fridge and everytime I tick off a job I seem to add three more. Once I've finished this interview I'm heading back to the Palace to build a cot and then this afternoon if I have time go pushchair shopping." "WHile your busy with this who is running the country?" "I am, I've appointed people I trust and who I know are very capable of running the nation, all that they need is my seal of approval and things get done, my sister Freya has shown time and again she's a very capable diplomat and she did a fantastic job while I was on pilgrimage, I've still been making decisions and I'll carry on doing that." "So what is your take on the current situation with the Transvaal?" "I must say I'm disappointed. I meet them during the Illumic Council and while I was initially shocked at their stance on human rights I thought during the course of that meeting they'd made massive strides towards showing themselves to be a responsible nation. However their recent treatment of the Rokkenjiman people in their custody has amazed me, we in East Moreland are no stranger to terrorist trials but to go from arrest, caution, investigation, trial, sentencing and execution in such a short space of time is shocking and shows a blatant disregard for any real legal process. They are dragging their nation into isolation, already we have seen members of the CSU withdraw recognition of them as a nation. It is my fear they will see themselves isolated and a trade empire with no one to trade with isn't a prospect I think their government wants." "So theoretically would the government of Transvaal be arrested if they visited East Moreland?" "We've an alliance with Rokkenjima and in the past our two nations have co-operated on many issues, however my understanding is that the arrest warrant is only a CSU wide one, yet I feel we would be placed in a difficult position. I would advise the government of Transvaal to look to rectify the situation urgently to avoid making this a possible situation, as I believe several other nations around Mundus would be in a similar situation to ourselves." "Well You Majesty that's all we have time for this evening. Thank you for joining us." |

![]() ![]() EAST MORELAND'S FIRST POLITICAL PARTY FORMED Today East Moreland's first political party was formed, the National Traditionalist Party (NTP) was founded by Representative Councillor Thomas Moore and four colleagues. The party which states a desire to maintain the traditions and customs of the Kingdom was founded after the five Councillors discovered their almost identical voting records, and while the formation of political parties is not outlawed by the Constitution the Councils in the past have encouraged independent candidates. Mr.Moore, the RC for Silverhills South said "I believe this is the next logical step in the evolution of East Moreland politics, as RC's strive to ensure their voters get the best possible deal we'll see groups of us banding together to make our views known. I guess history will tell whether this is the first of a deludge of political groups or whether we'll be the first." When asked about the parties policies Mr.Moore replied, "We wish to create a nation that is deeply routed in its many fine traditions while at the same time taking its rightful place amongst the nations of the world. Personally I feel we're beginning to lose some of our great traditions and that will lead to a break down in morality. Just look at the latest move by the Transvaal's pope, asking to build a church in Northfort and we let them. It's just the start and we want to try and persuade the King to halt it." The proposed church has yet to be confirmed but Mr.Moore says it will be the parties first campaign to try and halt its construction. Prime Minister Samuelson was less accepting of the new party, "While of course it is their right to do this it doesn't mean I have to support them. The beauty of our system has always been that an individual is held to account for their own opinions and views and has never had to toe a party line, I fear this may be the start of career politicians and nobody needs that." Meanwhile Chief Councillor Tim Carpenter spoke of Mr.Moore's approach to him, "I was invited to join the party several weeks ago and declines. As Chief Councillor I believe I should be impartial and reflect the needs of the whole nation not the interests of a party, I wish Mr.Moore and his party the best of luck however as I believe they have the nations best interests at heart however closeting ourselves away behind a wall of tradition isn't going to help our nation. The CETO festival showed we can embrace our culture and still enjoy the benefits of a wider relationship with the world." KING RESUMES DUTIES ![]() Following his pilgrimage to Keepton King David will resume his duties in full now that he has returned to Northfort. For the last week Princess Freya has been in nominal charge of the nation keeping her brother informed through daily briefings. The King spoke to EMTV later today and addressed press outside the studio. "I'd like to thank my sister for stepping in and doing a wonderful job, she will now return to her diplomatic role representing our nation in talks with foreign powers." The King was then asked about the nations stance with Transvaal. "Personally I feel slightly betrayed, we've managed to overcome our initial concerns and I had seen a bright future for our two nations, however I must repeat what my sister said, this seems a little too quick and neat for it to have been anything other than a show trial. I think we will need to seriously reconsider our relationship with Transvaal in the coming days and much rests on nations responses to Rokkenjima's calls for the release of their people and the arrest warrant issue. Emperor Constantine needs to show some leadership in this matter and begin working with the international community before the Trade Empire runs out of trade partners. I am no expert in the Transvaal legal process but I would suspect the Emperor must have some input and the question then would be why did he not use that to at least attempt some kind of dialogue." |

![]() ![]() NEW ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVE UNVEILED Today the Ministry for The Environment unveiled a new scheme to protect some of East Moreland's most beautiful areas of countryside. Minister for the Environment Gus Hurring announced the programme at the Fraserburg Lakes near Roberton, "Today we launch an initiative to ensure wonderful areas of our countryside remain untouched and safe for future generations to enjoy." The initiative authorises the creation of "An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" in which building of new houses and industry will be strictly controlled, Fraserburg Lakes being the first such area. The Lakes cover an area of around 180 square km and are made up of a series of waterfalls, streams and forest with several small villages dotted throughout. "We feel this will ensure the area receives funding to maintain the beautiful wooden walkways that criss cross the region and at the same time ensure not fancy buildings which look out of place ruin the specticle of these lakes for others." the Minister added. Several other areas are due for consideration to also be included in the register of areas. It is hoped that the protection granted by this area will also allow species of animal and plant life to be protected creating a haven for many of them. ![]() Last year an estimated 1.1 million people visited the area which will now be covered contributing significantly to the local economy. Local resident Grace Pollard said "With luck we'll now find it much easier to balance the business opportunities given to us by the tourists while at the same time preserving the area. The new recognition will maybe bring in tourists from abroad." |

![]() ![]() ROKKENJIMA'S ACTION "UNDERSTANDABLE BUT UNNECESSARY" Following an announcement today from Rokkenjima that they will be expanding the number of vessels in the Illumic Channel King David described the move as "understandable but unecessary" in a statement as he left a meeting of the Cabinet. The Rokkenjiman build up of naval forces comes as a response to hostility from Transvaal which saw ships threatening to stop the Rokkenjiman fleet making QAMB naval base following their recent rescue of the Sea Guardian anti-whaling ship. This incident lead to the arrest of 50 civilians from Rokkenjima in Transvaal, 3 of whom were later executed after what the King refered to as "Nothing more than a show trial." Two Rokkenjiman nationals remain in Transvaal serving life sentences. In a statement from Imperial High Command a spokesperson said "Such a situation is unacceptable to any nation, and while we hope to proceed with the draw-down as soon as possible, sadly, that has been complicated by the actions of a rogue state" this prompted an increase in naval forces. Upon being informed of this King David said, "The actions of Transvaal are outragous and not those of a nation willing to be part of the international community. On the other hand Rokkenjima's escalation of militarisation of the Illumic will not solve the issue. I feel in this case the Rokkenjiman actions are understandable but uneccessary, as we showed during the Sea Guardian incident we stand willing to aid Rokkenjima and we enjoy good relationships with them, sending 23 more military vessels is not needed, East Moreland and Seaforth, allies of Rokkenjima have both made it clear we offer them every aid and yet this was never explored as an avenue. On this occasion however we will not take any action to oppose this move by Rokkenjima as long as it is, as they keep to their word of resuming their draw down once the matter is resolved." HAS QUEEN LET BABY SECRET SLIP? ![]() Queen Matilda today has maybe let slip one of the potential names for the royal babies. While leaving Northfort Royal Infirmary following a scheduled check up the Queen spoke to well wishes, one of whom gave the Queen a stuffed teddy bear for each of the twins. The Queen responded by saying "Caspian will love it" this has sparked rumours that the King and Queen have been told the gender of the twins and names have been picked out. Alex Redfern, the King's Chief of Royal Household said, "This is just a rumour, I didn't hear what the Queen said so I can't comment, I guess we've all got about three weeks until we find out." |

![]() ![]() HOSPITAL LEAK REVEALS GENDER OF ROYAL BABIES A group of internet hackers have today posted online what they claim to be an ultrasound of the twins being carried by Queen Matilda. The group calling itself "Info4All" claimed to have done it because "the East Moreland public deserve to have no secrets kept from them." The pictures first appeared at 5am with the statement from the group. However action was swiftly taken to try and remove the images which show a male and female child. Royal spokesman Alex Redfern said "We will neither confirm or deny these rumours, infact we're refusing to even look at the images, the King and Queen wished to keep it a surprise and have even avoided being told themselves. The fact that this group seek to ruin the happiness of a couple at this time is deeply saddening." Bookmakers have now stopped taking bets on the gender of the two children. The recent change to the constitution means whichever twin is born first will become the heir to the throne regardless of gender. PRINCESS FREYA JOINS "BIKER GANG" ![]() It was announced today that Princess Freya would become the Honorary Club Captain of the Royal Veterans Biker Club. The group of current and former military personnel meet regularly for charity bike rides and have raised almost EM£800,000 in ten years for good causes. The Princess first learned to ride a motorbike during her military training and has been the owner of several bikes since gaining her licence ten years ago. Most recently she wrote off a Ducati 1098 after a crash near Silverhills, the incident left her rather gravel rash and a sprained wrist and was caused by a driver cutting her up at a junction. The Princess joined the group on their latest charity bike ride on her new Honda . "To be asked to be the patron of this charity is awesome. They have a real passion for their bikes and helping others and long may that continue, I hope that rather than this just being a name on a piece of paper for them that I can be some genuine help to their group, and that they let me come on rides with them." |

![]() ![]() TECHNOLOGY CITY CREATES OVER 30,000 NEW JOBS Since opening for business just over a year ago 30,000 new jobs in hi-tech industries have been created in East Moreland Technology City. The purpose built new city was established to attempt to plug the lack of avaliable jobs in technology, science and research sectors. Since the first East Moreland business set up they have been joined from companies around Mundus and the city has been part of some ground breaking projects. The first companies to base there were East Moreland Aircraft Company (EMAC) and OsmanTech, since then over 30 companies have invested making the city a global hub for some high end research. One of the first major projects to base itself there was the SSC Honeybadger project which created a car that broke the 1000mph barrier recently in Dijel. The project was jointly put together by foreign companies providing some carbon materials used in production and EMAC who provided much of the funding and facilities for production. Meanwhile Project Icarus a collaboration between several East Moreland companies, the Royal Aeronautical Society and the government of the Union of Nordic People built a space probe which became the first to map solar winds. "I'm very proud of what we have achieved here, for any young person with an interest in science and technology we have built a state of the art settlement that will provide thousands of job opportunities for Morelanders. We're thrilled so many multi-nationals have taken advantage of our world class facilities and explored many varied and interesting projects." said Minister for Innovation Clive Murray. Meanwhile EMAC have announced that they are about to start field tests of a military version of their HeavyLift airship. "Clearly this will never be part of front line duties, however we see a possibility in places like Safraen where our troops had air superiority for these to become useful as perhaps floating hospitals, communications relays or simply for moving bulky equipment long distances." said Sir Alan Maybury, CEO of EMAC. |

![]() ![]() FIRST TROOPS ARRIVE HOME The first 600 troops from Pegasus Legion returned home from Safraen yesterday afternoon. The men and women of the 1st Light Scouts had been one of the first Regiments deployed into Safraen and had spearheaded the advance into Elmrich Town. The Regiment suffered 36 fatalities. The Regiment was commanded by Colonel Baker who was granted permission to march the regiment through the streets of Northfort where they are garrisoned. Large crowds came out to watch parts of the regiment march through the city. Meanwhile other battialions made their way to out laying towns. Colonel Baker was presented with a new Regimental standard from Princess Freya, who holds a commission as a Major in the Regiment however as a current reservist owing to her diplomatic duties she was not deployed. The new standard bore the battle honour Safraen Liberation 2014 and was proudly marched through the Regiments lines before the soldiers were dismissed to rejoin their loved ones. "The Regiment has once again done an outstanding job, I'm proud of all the Legionnaires under my command and especially the ones who laid down their lives to bring freedom to the people of Safraen. I firmly believe that we have left the nation a better and safer place." said Colonel Baker. |

![]() ![]() ILLUMIC EXERCISES TO BEGIN The first of what are hoped the be annual naval exercises between Seaforth and East Moreland are to take place shortly. The exercises will be based in the Illumic Channel and use both East Moreland's Illumic Command and the newly joint operated Illumic East bases. REMNS King Robert, the East Moreland flagship, will take part in the exercise despite only recently returning from operations in Safraen. Nineteen East Moreland ships are due to take part in what will be a week long exercise, they will be joined by more than 50 vessels from Seaforth. Admiral Lord Stephen Priestly, the commander of the East Moreland Navy was looking forward to the operations. "We've had excellent working relationships with Seaforth in the past and sadly our Navies have yet to work together, I'm really looking forward to this opportunity to meet them face to face and see what we can do when we work together." The Kingdom of East Moreland has always prided itself on its land forces with the Navy being seen by many as a poor relation, however with the recent acquisition of the first of three Cyborg Class ships, many members of the Navy are hoping this will change. "We have always ensured we can defend our lands, and our army and air force do a fantastic job of this, however as we have recently seen in Safraen we are needing to operate further and further afield so we hope to see our role expand." Lord Priestly added. REMNS KING ROBERT TO EVICT BORLANDERS ![]() Before joining the Illumic training exercises REMNS King Robert has been dispatched to remove Borlanders from High Rock. The territory was recently the subject of a treaty between East Moreland, Dartfordia and the landowner a Miss Macclesfield. The Borlanders will be given 48 hours to leave the rock before action is taken to remove them. A spokesman for the East Moreland government said, "We are delighted to have wrapped this sorry affair up, finally we can get back to recognising the Borlanders for what they truly are, nothing but terrorist scum." When asked about the rumours of an impending treaty between neighbours Banaria and the Borlanders Chief of Royal Household Alex Redfern read a prepared statement from the King. "It has always been our policy to not interfere in the foreign policy of other nations, should the Banarian's feel this is a course of action they wish to take then so be it, they will face inevitable disappointment in their actions." PRINCE OF TOSHIKAWA TO STUDY IN NORTHFORT ![]() The Toshikawa Update today announced that the newly reconcilled son of the Shogun would come to study at the Royal University of Northfort. The University has a long history of royal connections with every monarch since Richard I having attended classes there. The University is also the institute at which all three of the current Ironside's have studied, with King David III studying History and Politics, High Priestess Joanna studying Theology and Princess Freya completing two semesters of a Physical Education degree before dropping out to join the 1st Light Scouts Regiment of the Army. It is not yet known what subject or level of qualification Prince Sora would study however University Dean Professor William Coyle said, "We are delighted to be able to welcome the young Prince. Our institute is well suited to welcoming him as we have long experience of caring for and educating royalty, we also have a large number of overseas students who feel at home here. He'll soon see however that we also have a habit of treating our royal students no different to the others, for example the stories of King David's time here are ones of student halls and baked beans on toast, just as many undergraduates experience." It is widely expected that Prince Sora will not be the only Royal at the University as it is thought that Archduchess Sophie has made the institute her first choice after finishing her studies in the coming summer. Many believe that she will undertake the BA(Hons) in Mundus Studies meaning she will spend a year studying outside of East Moreland in a CETO recognised institute. |

May the God's bless Prince Caspian, Duke of Keepton" The camera then shows several reporters yelling questions as he disappears back inside before cutting to EMTV Royal correspondent. "There we have it, the new heir to the throne of East Moreland will be Prince Caspian, and he inherits the Dukedom of Keepton, a role traditionally held by the heir to the throne, from his auntie Princess Freya. As we stand here now an attendent at the Palace will be placing a note on the Palace gates and it is thought that once Caspian's sibling arrives official word will be sent to all the embassies." |

![]() ![]() QUEEN MATILDA CRITICALLY ILL Today the nation of East Moreland experiences mixed emotions. In two announcements made throughout the day the arrival of two royal babies brought celebrations to the streets of Northfort. Early in the morning the Queen went into labour while visiting a local school she had been supporting in an environmental project, she was rushed to Northfort Royal Infirmary where just after 2pm it was announced that she had given birth to Prince Caspian, who as heir to the throne automatically inherited the title Duke of Keepton from his aunt Princess Freya. Several hours later at 10pm Chief of Royal Household Alex Redfern announced the birth of Caspian's twin sister Princess Rhiannon who was granted the title Duchess of Northfort, a title last held by King David's father King Sven. As well wishers outside the hospital cheered the news swiftly passed through the Kingdom. However as the nation celebrated the new arrivals a tragedy was unfolding, after a serious bleed Queen Matilda was rushed into surgery. Following the announcement released by Princess Freya Doctor Felicia Henry, the royal families household doctor was permitted to speak to the Press. "Following the delivery of Princess Rhiannon a major blood vessel was ruptured meaning the Queen lost blood pressure extremely quickly. After a short period of resuscitation the doctors here were able to restart her heart and replacement blood has been administered. Currently the Queen is still in surgery and her condition is critical. I will keep the press informed on behalf of the family so please we ask everyone to stop contacting the hospital, the staff here have many other patients and it is critical there switchboard is not clogged up by the press." It is thought the royal family and the Osman family are gathered together inside the hospital. |

![]() ![]() QUEEN MATILDA OUT OF SURGERY In a scheduled press conference Royal Physician Dr.Felicia Henry confirmed that following over 10 hours of surgery Queen Matilda was "stable but not out of the woods." The Queen experienced a massive bleed following the birth of the royal twins and has had to be resuscitated twice. In the press conference Dr.Henry also stated, "We will be keeping an extremely close eye on her as she lost a significant amount of blood and that can impact internal organs and place great strain on the heart. The coming hours will be critical." The King and his family have stayed at the hospital since the birth of Prince Caspian and Princess Rhiannon, alongside the Osman family. The Royal family have cancelled all their planned engagements with the exception of Princess Freya's attendance at a military parade in Ostlake on Wednesday. Royal spokeswoman, Victoria Brennan said "The parade to welcome home the final contingent of soldiers from Safraen is something the Princess feels should still go ahead" in a statement read by Miss Brennan from the Princess she said " these people did an outstanding job liberating Safraen at great personal cost, it is only right the royal family maintain our support for them despite our personal difficulties" Large crowds have gathered outside the hospital causing Chief of Royal Household Alex Redfern to intervene. "I know the families would like to thank the people for their prayers and well wishes however we must ask for people to keep the hospital clear as possible, this is after all a working public hospital and the staff and patients need to be able to access the facilities. When asked about the King's reaction he said, "The King is devoted family man, of course this has had a tremendous impact however the Ironside and Osman family have gathered around each other supported by their friends and the nation." PRIME MINISTER TO CHAIR CABINET MEETING ![]() For the first time in the Kingdom's history a non-royal will chair a meeting of the cabinet. With the King and Princess Freya occupied at the hospital it has fallen on Prime Minister Harry Samuelson to lead the cabinet in it's weekly meeting. He spoke briefly to the media on his way to the Assembly Building yesterday. "Like the rest of the nation my prayers are with Queen Matilda, in the year since her coronation she has proven herself a great ambassador and role model for our nation. I have had the privilege to work alongside her and her compassion and care for the ordinary people of this Kingdom is incredible." The cabinet meet weekly and the agenda is set to be dominated on the need to ensure the government keeps running smoothly during this crisis. Other items on the agenda will be the Borlanders, the collapse of neighbouring Banaria and a long awaited review of naval matters. |

![]() KING DAVID LIVE!!! May I begin by thanking the nation for their kind wishes during my personal difficulties, I'd also like to thank all those around Mundus who have shown myself and my wife their support in the last couple of days. Sadly I must apologise to many, to our friends in Achkaerin whom are grieving for their Duchess, I have had only a mere glimpse of the agony you are facing and I know that is heartbreaking. Next to the people of Toshikawa, as a brave Shogun passes away I was again silent. The man was ever a friend to East Moreland and I am distraught to hear the words of his successor. Finally to the people of St.Monterrey, I wish I could have known King Darnforth better and I wish his family and people all the best. I must reserve my biggest apology to my own people, over the last few days I have given no clear guidance to the government or carried out my duties as your King. I swore a coronation oath to be honest and caring to my people, to protect you from dangers and to guide you wisely. In order to ensure this does not happen again I intend to split my time between my wife's bedside and the Palace. I will be cancelling until further notice any overseas and ceremonial duties, these being taken over by Chief Councillor Carpenter or Prime Minister Samuelson. In just my short journey from the hospital to the Palace I have encountered many kind souls keen for news of Matilda, Caspian and Rhiannon. Their kind words are a great comfort to know my family are so cared for. My wife remains unconscious and doctors say she is not yet out of the woods, meanwhile Rhiannon is possibly the loudest baby in the ward. It seems however bad luck is to follow my family for a short time longer as Caspian has been diagnosed with a severe illness which we as a family will overcome. I hope that the twins will have their first visit to the Palace inside of the next week. Finally I wish to speak of Kyle Barren....infact I wish to speak to Kyle Barren. Your home's gone, the only piece of land you ever came close to owning has gone forever, you've lost. I know how this game will go though, you'll crawl back to your hole, make some videos promising to terrify East Moreland and occasionally get your name mentioned by some world leader. Now this time I'll admit, the whole going straight thing was amusing for a while, it now is getting dull. Its time for an end to it and you can expect that end to come soon, its one thing to claim to be a King, another to claim a pebble for your Kingdom but to call my wife a whore is what will seal your fate. While your little Borland gets weaker the Ironsides will get stronger and your days are numbered." |

![]() ![]() EMAC UNVEIL NEW PROTOTYPES East Moreland Aircraft Company (EMAC) CEO Sir Alan Maybury today unveiled two new prototype aircraft. The first is a new multi-role aircraft known at present as the DragonX. The forward swept wings make it unique. Sir Alan said "The design should allow the aircraft to be extremely agile and creates a smaller radar signature, coupled with vector thrusting we feel we will be able to create a very versatile aircraft." The plane also will feature 14 hardpoints meaning it will be able to carry a sizeable armoury. The final phase of testing is expected to last about a year before the aircraft enters service. ![]() The second prototype the ElectricDragon is designed for basic pilot training. "The aircraft is capable of 60 minute flights at the moment, but we hope to increase that to 3 hours before too long." With aviation thought to contribute significantly to pollution it is thought research into electric and other alternative fuelled aircraft will become a central part of EMAC's future developments. ![]() EAST MORELAND TO NOT RECOGNISE RHODESIA AS SOVEREIGN TERRITORY Following an announcement that Rokkenjima will be granting recognition to Seaforth's underwater "city" of Rhodesia the East Moreland government have announced that they will not be following suit. In a statement released by Foreign Minister Robert Kennedy it was stated that recognising cities such as Rhodesia " sets a dangerous precedent". In a press conference which followed he further stated, "There is no doubt Rhodesia is an amazing achievement and we would be more than willing to help support Seaforth in the continuation of the project, however we feel that be granting nations sovereign status around such installations will cause a land grab by other nations intent, not like Seaforth on scientific study, but soley in expanding their influence. Theoretically we can see a whole host of nations claiming territory in the Illumic creating issues further down the line." The issue of these cities has also caused concern regarding the Free Seas Concordt and Mr.Kennedy claims this recognition flies in the face of the treaty. "For many years we've all held this document to be of vital importance, yet the spirit of it is being eroded" What most concerned Mr.Kennedy was the blatant disregard for international co-operation. "This is now the second time our so called Illumic partners have failed to notify us or even consult with us on matters regarding the Illumic. Our King worked hard to try and reach a compromise at the last Illumic Council to ensure the fate of the Illumic remained in the hands of all Illumic nations, now for a second time we see, despite a framework existing to ensure co-operation, people make decisions regarding the Channel without so much as an e-mail to tell us." The last of these incidents came when despite having announced a draw down in numbers in the Illumic, Rokkenjima increased them and the first announcement was made through the press following Rokkenjima's issue with Transvaal. This incident was described by the King as "Understandable but unnecessary" The Palace have refused to comment on the latest issue however Princess Freya did say "If we are to be partners in the Illumic it is important that communication is clear, when we find out about things like this from the press it seems to send a message that we are not part of the Illumic process." It is thought the Princess is seeking to ensure a more formal Illumic Council, however moves like this seem to derail that process. |

![]() ![]() EAST MORELAND SEE RED AS THEY SLUMP TO DEFEAT In what will possibly be the IFFA World Cup's most heated game East Moreland slumped to an embarassing 4-2 defeat to terrorist group Borland. During the game two East Moreland players received their marching orders and a small scuffle broke out in the crowd. As the teams walked onto the pitch the extremley small Borland contingent in the stands unveiled as sign saying "RIP Matilda" inciting East Moreland fans seeing several arrests. The sign was eventually confiscated by stewards once the East Moreland players protested to the referee. The national anthems followed in a bizarre twist each nation using their own version of Helus Call. During both renditions the travelling East Moreland fans drowned out the Borlanders with their loud singing. Following the anthems the referee attempted to have the usual handshake between the two teams but the East Moreland team simply took to the pitch. The game started well for East Moreland with striker Steve Parish putting them ahead after 22 minutes with a powerful header from a corner. The Borlanders equalised just before half time in a half that had seen 6 yellow cards and several stoppages for injuries caused by savage tackling from both sides. As the teams exited the pitch a scuffle broke out between the two teams and East Moreland winger Freddie Yates was red carded for allegedly punching a member of the Borland back room staff. The second half saw Borland take the lead after just three minutes following a poor backpass by right back James Garner. The second half got worse when Garner then got red carded for a second bookable offence for hacking down the opposition winger. Soon the team found themselves 3-1 down following a Borland free kick on the edge of the box. In a valiant effort to fight back the East Moreland team scored in the 80th minute through a superb 20 yard volley by Tim Matthews. As the team pushed forward to try and find the equaliser they were hit on the break in the 88th minute consigning them to defeat. Following the match team manager Tony Parson said "I'm disgusted that our lack of discipline threw that game away, we knew they'd try and wind us up and we should have been ready, we let them get under our skin and as a result we've let the Kingdom down." Garner and Yates will now face bans , Garner will sit out the next game while Yates will face a disciplinary panel before the next game. |

![]() ![]() REMAF RETURN HOME Following operations to support the CSTO and Meche offensive against the USR the aircraft of REMAF have returned home to Ostlake. Dragonheart multi role aircraft operated out of airbases in liberated Safraen to aid the offensive that followed the USR's invasion of Meche. In total REMAF pilots flew over 200 sorties to provide air support to ground troops and attack strategic targets. The homecoming now means with the exception of REMNS Portworth and REMNS Sven all East Moreland military assets deployed to originally liberate Safraen are now home. Sqd Leader Jack Thompson of No.4 Squadron was the last pilot to land his aircraft. "We're remarkably pleased to be home and proud of what we managed to contribute to the liberations of two nations." EAST MORELAND AND SEAFORTH FORCES CAPTURE WARSHIP ![]() Following Transvaals attack on Rokkenjima East Moreland deployed naval assets alongside their Seaforth counterparts in accordance with treaty obligations between the three nations. In a naval battle involving numerous REMN vessels a Transvaal battleship was captured following what is believed to have been a combined operation between Seaforth special forces and Red Legion. Reports are that numerous REMN vessels have been damaged but will be able to make port in either Illumic Command or Illumic East. The battle marks one of the first naval battles the Kingdom has been involved with in recent memory. General Yacobs spoke to the media to confirm the operation. "We are thankful to get off so lightly and the operation shows the exceptional partnership that Seaforth and East Moreland's military have developed, this has come during recent Naval exercises and show the benefit of such close co-operation." Meanwhile however members of the Traditionalist Party in the Representative Council have been less supportive. One of their councillors, Stephanie Yates, said "We are delighted that the majority of our naval personal are untouched by this conflict and our thoughts go to those injured and killed in this conflict. We find however the circumstances of the operation odd, just days ago Rokkenjima and Seaforth blatantly ignored the terms of this treaty by not informing us of the Rhodesia situation, yet when Rokkenjima finds itself a victim of an attack they are more than happy to use the treaty. They claim they had to speedily react to the situation in the Illumic in regards to the underwater "city" yet they go through the formal channels when they need something. The whole situation leaves a sour taste in the mouths of many Morelanders who are proud that our nation at least abides by its word." Following the Rhodesia issue support for Seaforth and Rokkenjima has decreased slightly. One member of the public interviewed by the Northfort News stated, "These two nations call themselves our allies yet seem incapable of making a simple phone call. When they rely on their news networks to inform East Moreland of major decisions in our own backyard just how good a pair of friends are they?" The Foreign Minister Robert Kennedy was more supportive. "From time to time there are break downs in communication, this is now the second, however I believe both Seaforth and Rokkenjima understand now our concerns over Rhodesia and their failure to adhere to the spirit of our alliance and moving on have taken steps to avoid a repeat." In regards to the Naval operation he added "I'm proud of the job our men and women have done today in honouring our alliance and supporting our allies." |

![]() ![]() HIGH ROCK DESTROYED Following a statement released by Borland Seperatist terrorist leader Kyle Barren the Royal East Moreland Navy have destroyed the rock off the coast of East Moreland known as High Rock. The statement released by the terrorist claimed that one day they would retake the rock as their territory following the removal of two members of a terrorist cell who had squatted on the territory which is the rightful property of a Dartfordian citizen, Miss Macclesfield. The REMN moved a Destroyer into the region following the statement by Barren and launched several missiles at High Rock destroying all visible trace of the rock above the waterline. It is then thought that they placed a GPS marker on what Commodore Theobold has described as a stump. Dartfordia had recently sent low ranking diplomats to discuss a treaty regarding the rock and are yet to react. A REMN spokesman said "The diplomatic wrangling is not our concern, the safety of East Moreland is, as long as the Borlanders lay claim to the rock they pose a threat to the Kingdom, they now have one less demand that they can make." When asked about the potential diplomatic fall out he said "We frankly place our national security above the concern we have for Dartfordias feelings, the Borland issue is clearly not of their concern as they spent two minor diplomats while we send our highest elected officials." When asked if Dartfordia were consulted. "To prevent any possible reoccupation of the rock the decision was taken to inform Dartfordia of the operation only once underway." PRINCE CASPIAN DIAGNOSED WITH HUNTER SYNDROME Chief of Royal Household Alex Redfern today confirmed the diagnosis alluded to regarding Prince Caspian. "It is my unfortunate duty to inform the press of Prince Caspian's condition. Following routine blood tests it has been confirmed that the young Prince suffers from Hunter's Syndrome. This is a significant condition that will have long term affects for the Prince. His Majesty the King would like to thank both the hospital staff for their fantastic care and the general public for their support during this difficult time." HE then went on to describe Queen Matilda's condition, "She is currently still unconcious and staff here are doing an amazing job ensuring she is comfortable, we can now only wait and see what will happen. Hunter Syndrome is a genetic condition that is extremely rare. It's exact cause is still unknown however the condition only effects males. A medical expert informed our publication that, "The young Prince can expect to face serious health issues, the thickening of blood vessels around the heart, a tightening of his airways, trouble processing proteins that will stunt his growth and development and sadly significantly shorten his life" Most boys who suffer from the condition die in their mid teens. The discovery of the condition raises some interesting issues regarding the inheritance of the crown as Prince Caspian is technically the heir, however the liklihood of him inheriting the throne is negligible, it remains to be seen whether the King will pronounce his daughter and Caspian's twin sister Rhiannon as heir in his stead. ![]() ![]() MAN ARRESTED AS KING AND BABIES LEAVE HOSPITAL A 37 year old man was yesterday arrested as King David left hospital with the royal twins for the first time. As the King and Chief of Household Alex Redfern placed the two children in car seats a man attempted to leap the security barrier, Royal Protection Agent Will Buckley tackled the man to the ground and was seen to scuffle briefly as a second agent tasered the man. Several police officers on duty nearby quickly arrived in the scene and helped secure the man who has yet to be named. A device thought to be a grenade was found on the man while another was removed from the man by Officer Buckley during the scuffle. In a statement from Northfort police Commander Green said "A 37 year old man is in custody while we investigate the matter, as such there are plans to charge the individual with crimes relating to terrorism." Police Commander Green refused to confirm the man was a Borland Separatist instead stating "That is one avenue we are investigating." Security at the hospital where Queen Matilda is being treated is being increased with a squad of Red Legionnaires arriving within an hour of the incident. It is thought Prince Caspian and Princess Rhiannon were unaffected by the incident. ![]() RHIANNON THE FIERCE VOTED 2nd GREATEST MUNDUSIAN In a recent CETO poll East Moreland's Queen Rhiannon the Fierce was voted the 2nd Greatest Mundusian of all time, the result proved somewhat of a surprise to East Moreland CETO representative Dr.Merriman. "I am delighted the world recognises how great a woman she is, I'm truly shocked though that she came higher than Robert the Unifier, a man who created our Kingdom, I suppose however a warrior Queen from the 1400's inspires more than just those from our own nation." Lulu Sobesk has recently played Rhiannon the Fierce in a hit film in East Morleand called "The Fierce Queen" and she was less surprised by the result. "Rhiannon is the very epitome of a great woman, brave, protective of those she loves, kind, intelligent and didn't take a back seat to anyone." the film which was released last year is thought to see an increase in sales following what is bound to be global interest in the Queen. "I just hope the film does her justice, trimming the life of an amazing role model to just under 3hours is quiet a tough thing to do." said Sobesk. Queen Rhiannon came 2nd in the pool behind Empress Beatrice Anselmo of Rokkenjima. |

![]() ![]() HIGH END TOURIST VENTURE UNDERWAY East Moreland Aircraft Company, OsmanTech and SFR today unveiled the first of their of two proposed Island Yacht Resorts. The first which will open next month will be 10km West of Portworth with a second due to open in Ostlake in early March. The resort will be made up of several jetties and a central recreational area. Holiday makers will be able to moor either a purchased or rented "Island Yacht" at the resort. These yachts feature luxury accomodation for up to ten people, sun decks, pools, BBQ decks and a large lounge. Alan Maybury CEO of EMAC and one of the first to own one of the yachts said. "Essentially these are like your own private holiday resort which is mobile. I can head out to sea and get away from it all or join up with others at centres like this one and enjoy things like bars, restaurants, night clubs and for the more active sports facilities." OsmanTech have two of the yachts, one being used as a prototype for new technologies and the other being made avaliable for use to their employees. Lord Lucas Osman said, "I'm quiet looking forward to trying mine out, its certainly as good if not better than any 5 star hotel I've stayed in with the added bonus of being able to put it where I want." The yachts are equipped with large solar panels and mini wind turbines providing all the energy that the yacht requires. Excess energy is used to help purify salt water into drinking water and water filters on-board ensure that only water of drinking quality is returned to the ocean. Each yacht also enjoys a large selection of plant life ensuring a tranquil setting and ambiance. The yachts are capable of ocean travel however only up to sea state four conditions. They have a top speed of around 15 knots and are designed mainly for short coastal trips. "We envisage people having one of these and maybe rotating between Portworth and Ostlake, perhaps with investment overseas this will become a global venture." ![]() |

EMTV BREAKING NEWS![]() "We interrupt your normal viewing for some breaking news." The cameras switch to Northfort Palace where Chief of Household Alex Redfern stands at the Palace gates. "I must pass onto the nation a message which moments ago was expressed to all embassies within East Moreland. It is with deep regret that I make this announcement. Several moments ago I was presented with two letters by Princess Freya which express concern about the health of His Majesty King David III of East Moreland. Following a period in which he has seen attempts on his children's life, a wife seriously ill in hospital and increasing international tensions medical staff have decided that he needs to limit his responsibilities. As a man firmly commited to his family His Majesty will be taking some time away from government in order to care for Prince Caspian and Princess Rhiannon and spend more time at the bedside of Queen Matilda. Therefore under Article 1.5 of the Inheritance of the Throne Act I am obligated to announce that Her Highness Princess Freya will inherit all the powers of His Majesty King David until such a time as he has recuperated enough to return to government. She will speak for the Kingdom in all matters both foreign and domestic. This situation will be reviewed in 14 days time. I would ask all Morelanders to keep His Majesty and his family in their prayers. Thank You." Mr.Redfern turns and re-enters the Palace. |

![]() ![]() OSTLAKE MILITARY CONFERENCE SEES BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS On the first day of the annual Ostlake Military Conference several important announcements were made by Princess Freya. The annual conference sees the heads of each unit convene to discuss objectives and organisation for the year ahead as well as see presentations from arms manufacturers and equipment makers to determine any new purchases. On her arrival Princess Freya announced that over the coming days we can expect a series of announcements. "My brother was always a cautious man with our spending, for the length of his reign the military has been run on 2% of our GDP, many nations run much larger budgets, however he reserved much of the money to ensure we could conduct future conflicts without hurting other areas of our economy, however the time has come to raid the piggy bank so to speak." The first new procurement was announced early on, the Royal East Moreland Navy will be acquiring two new frigates, to be known as the Red Class. The ship is to be the first built at Technology City and will be one of the largest classes of Frigate in operation in the world. The ship will be made by Taylors Dockyard and is designed to be able to operate for around 5,000 hours year. The ship will also feature a "two island" system meaning every function of the ship will be duplicated in a different location on the vessel. The Navy will also receive a 2nd Flagship Class Amphibious support vessel to compliment REMNS King Robert. A Naval spokesman has said "King Robert has been stretched over the last two years and its vital we have that kind of equipment ready to go at a moments notice, having a second ship in this class will see our ability to respond globally improve greatly." Experts believe that new destroyers will also be purchased in the coming days. ![]() EMAC AND RAS ANNOUNCE UPCOMING TEST FLIGHT East Moreland Aircraft Company and the Royal Aeronautical Society have announced the first of a series of test flights in the coming months. The agency responsible for the exploration of space and the nations biggest aircraft manufacture have joined forces to build a series of satellites. The first to be launched will be a satellite for dedicated military mapping, the same launch will also feature a satellite designed to link up with other satellites and space debris. This unique type of satellite known as the "Sweeper" and will be made commercially avaliable to support nations allied with East Moreland. Professor Leary of the RAS said, "We know at some point the satellites we launch will require maintenance, having the ability to do minor tasks remotely by capturing satellites will save us potentially large sums of money, also as more nations place objects into orbit there may someday be a need to remove this and the Sweeper will give us that capability." The Sweeper will be tested by first releasing a small remote probe which the Sweeper will then chase. |

![]() ![]() NAVAL PROCUREMENT CONTINUES As the 2nd day of the Ostlake Military Conference drew to a close Princess Freya announced the intention to build two Duke Class Destroyers. The new vessel will feature a capacity to fire 128 missiles and an Aegis combat system. The vessels will be built by Graymane Shipyards close to Illumic Command and are expected to form part of a dedicated Illumic fleet. Princess Freya made the announcement following yesterdays acquisition of frigates and an amphibious warfare ship. "The new equipment marks our continued investment in national excellence, our engineers and developers in East Moreland are second to none and I firmly believe that they will equip our service men and women with excellent equipment allowing them to do their jobs." DRONES CRASH NEAR SEATOWERS A "WARNING TO BORLANDERS" ![]() In the daily press conference at the Military Conference Princess Freya announced that two days ago several East Moreland drones launched off REMNS Cylon were intentionally crashed into the sea surronding SeaTowers. "This operation was part of a programme of making it transparently clear to our enemies that we can strike them no matter where they are. The Borlanders will now be left with no doubt that should we wish to we can destroy SeaTowers, however we are keen to avoid an environmental incident therefore this was our best option to show that message." The exact number of drones used was not revealed nor was the type, however it is assumed they would have been the older EMAC Hifil drones. |

![]() ![]() FIRST SWEEPER TEST FAILS The Royal Aeronautical Society today announced that the first test of the new Sweeper satellite failed to correctly capture the target satellite. Yesterday two satellites where released using an improvised Icarus launch vehicle. The first satellite known as "The Golden Snitch" was released and allowed to take up position in orbit, on the next pass of its orbit the Icarus vehicle released a second satellite known as "The Seeker". The Seeker satellite then used its onboard guidance and tracking system to move towards the Golden Snitch. Using a robotic arm the Seeker was supposed to grab hold of the Golden Snitch and then remove its power supply thus bringing the test to an end, however the two collided at a higher speed than anticipated and the robotic arm was destroyed. Dr.Leary of the RAS made the announcement "while we are gutted that our first test wasn't a 100% success we are encouraged, the fact that all the software to track and manouver to the satellite worked is a good first step, we will reprogramme the Seeker 2 and use this now to capture Seeker 1 and dispose of it." The second test is expected to take place later this week. Dr.Felicia Henry, the royal physician announced this morning that the Queen had regained conciousness following several weeks in a coma. The Queen was moved over the weekend to Highwick Manor, the royal families private residence in the countryside, and after several hours began showing signs of conciousness. The news has been greeted with celebration throughout the Kingdom however Dr.Henry was keen to point out that the people shouldn't expect to see her out and about for some time. "She's had a considerable amount of surgery and was without a significant amount of blood for some time. It will take her a few months to fully recover but the prognosis looks good." A leading medical expert we talked to suggests however that it may be much longer. "Conditions of this kind can have a major impact on a patients life, quiet often parts of the brain suffer a lack of oxygen and it is not uncommon for their to be memory loss, loss of mobility and fine motor skills, essentially we can be looking at years to regain the same quality of life that was had before the operation." The extent of any long term damage to the Queen is unknown at this time. Meanwhile the two royal children, Prince Caspian and Princess Rhiannon are said to be doing fine. |

![]() ![]() SWEEPER TEST SUCCESSFUL Today the Royal Aeronuatical Society and EMAC announced that the second attempt at the Sweeper Satellite Capture System was a success. The second of a series of pairs of satellites were released, the first, known as the Golden Snitch was released followed an orbit later by The Seeker. The Golden Snitch was captured on the second attempt. The Seeker satellite then carried out a simulated maintenance operation before releasing the Golden Snitch again, only to capture it and set it into a trajectory taking it clear of Mundus orbit. The exercise is the first instance of a satellite capturing another in orbit. The Seeker will now remain in orbit while further tests are conducted, EMAC have manufactured a further two Seeker satellites which will form part of the Sweeper System which will be used to remove defunct satellites from orbit or help with maintenance, it is also thought that the system will be able to be primarily for East Moreland satellites in orbit yet also available commercially to private enterprises and other nations. Dr.Leary of the RAS was asked about the potential military use of the Sweeper system, "While the satellites could clearly be used to disrupt other nations satellites we have no plans for this, the system is merely a cost effective way of keeping Mundus clear of debris, more and more private companies and nations put hardware into space creating hazards for newer projects. Now rather than costly EVA missions we can simply use Sweeper systems to push the defunct satellites out of orbit and into deep space." |

![]() ![]() SWEEPER SYSTEM ACTIVE The Royal Aeronautical Society have today completed the launch of the remaining Sweeper System satellites. Three of the satellites catching devices now are in orbit. Dr.Leary of RAS made the announcement just after midday "Following the last 48 hours of work we have successfully placed the satellites into orbit. They will act as communications relays and will be avaliable to help maintain any satellites that may be an issue. Rather than now having to blow up degrading satellites which will leave debris we are now able to simply grab them, move their orbit and send them off towards the sun." The three satellites that make up the system are known as "The Seeker", "The Bludger" and "The Chaser" will each be positioned at regular intervals around Mundus. The RAS believes that in the future nations other than East Moreland may ask for them to be used to capture obsolete satellites, move orbits or help maintain them. The system marks East Moreland's first solo space project and Dr.Leary hopes it will be the first of many more. ![]() EAST MORELAND MILITARY TO HAVE LANGUAGE TRAINING The last day of the Ostlake Military Conference saw Princess Freya announce that any officer wishing to advance above the rank of Major would have to demonstrate the ability to speak a language other than English or Morelandish. The move comes as a result of lessons learned during the two Safraen Crisis'. "While out there we struggled to communicate, it made basic everyday tasks hard and it can be impossible to build up a working relationship with those from allied forces and more importantly the locals. After the Verovian Commanders went rouge we struggled convincing the USR and Soviet forces to surrender as there was a clear language barrier, in the future we hope that can be avoided." The level of competency will be set at that of a 12 year old from that nation in terms of speaking and listening. Princess Freya went on to explain, "When I was in Safraen I had very little need to write the language or read it, however just a simple "please" and "Thank you" in a persons own language goes a long way." With the Princess serving as a Major in the 1st Light Scout Regiment she will effected by the new policy herself, "I'm a military officer at heart and I hope once my brother is recovered to return to the military and climb the career ladder, I've already enrolled on a course to learn some Rokkenjiman, maybe it will come in handy." |

![]() ![]() FOOTAGE OF YOUNG KING FOUND As a new exhibition on the modern monarchy opened at Northfort Royal Museum a member of the public came forward with a rare piece of film footage. The 5 minute long clip shows a four year old Prince David marching and drilling alongside a member of East Morelands prestigious Red Legion outside Northfort Palace. The King can be seen trying to match the soldiers movements while dressed in a child's version of their iconic uniform and carrying a toy rifle. 76 year old Thomas Sullivan brought the footage to the museum where it has been donated. "I was cleaning out my loft when I found a box of old video films, I sat down with the grand kids and we spotted one of our trip with their parents to Northfort Palace, it was during the video the clip of the now King came on and my youngest grandchild spotted the royal resemblance." The video has been viewed by members of the royal household who confirmed that it was indeed the King in his infancy. New Head of Royal Household Victoria Brennan said, "Princess Freya found the video highly amusing but did confirm that it was her brother, she's thrilled that it will now be on display in the museum as it shows that the royal family are just as normal as everyone else." One of the guests at the exhibitions opening was Major Daniel Frost of the Alpine Cadre, the regiment that the King is a reservist in, the Major was overseeing the donations of items from the regiments museum connected to the King. "I served with the King and I can confirm his standard of drill has only slightly improved since those days." The exhibition will be open to the public for the next two months. You can view the footage on our website here |

![]() ![]() RYTOL RACING MAKE PODIUM In a close race in Braz,Ndambia Rytol Racing's Matt Cooke took 2nd place, finishing just 9 seconds behind Daniel Miles from PBR. The 31 year old driver from Silverhills has made significant progress over the last few races and has now moved up to 6th in the Drivers Championship. Speaking to the EMTV "FM Live Show" the driver said "The team brought quiet a few modifications to Braz which we hope will see us through the rest of the season in good shape, the car felt great and everything seemed to come together. It's just a shame Mark suffered so many problems." His team mate Mark Lindley finished 12th after suffering a KERS failure and then suffering a damaged front wing after hitting a piece of rubber left on the track following an earlier on track incident. The resulting pitstop saw him slip down the standings and his inability to operate KERS saw him dealing with reduced horsepower. The team now sit in 5th in the Constructors Championship with 6 races to go. ![]() DRAGON X AIRCRAFT ENTER "EVALUATION" PERIOD Three DragonX aircraft have been delivered to 1st Squadron of the Royal East Moreland Air Force for front line evaluation. The three aircraft will operate alongside their existing Dragonbreath aircraft for two months before officially entering service should all be deemed operational ready. The aircraft made by EMAC is expected to form part of the new 38th and 39th squadron extending the Air Force to a total of 43 operational squadrons. ![]() ARCHDUCHESS TO TRY FOR IO GAMES After being in the top five for her age group for the last six years Archduchess Sophie has announced her intention to move up to the senior ranks in order to try and secure a place in the Independent Order Games team. The 17 year old has competed in Cross Country since the age of 11 and holds the East Moreland Junior 5km record at Under 16 level. This year she won the East Moreland Schools Championship and her coaches believe that she stands an outside chance of making Team EM for the up coming games. Jacob Harvey, Team EM's Youth Director said, "The Archduchess has proved to have great potential, she's coming to the end of the possibilities at Junior level and with the games so close the move to Senior level makes sense, distance runners take time to develop and competing alongside stronger and more tactically aware runners will see her develop much quicker than continuing in the Under 21 category." With the team due to send four female cross country runners the Archduchess has an outside chance of making the team. "I just want to concentrate on the upcoming East Moreland Open in Roberton, after that I'll see how well I can do against my new peers and I'll be able to assess how much work I have to do." the Archduchess told the Northfort News, "I know I have a lot to juggle, school, training and my auntie Freya wants me to take on some royal duties too, however I'm sure I can fit everything in." The East Moreland royal family have a heritage of running, King David represents the Alpine Cadre in the Ostlake Challenge every year at the Ostlake Games, while his sister Princess Freya competes in the 10km Combat Run. Sophie's grandfather King Sven II of East Moreland was also a good runner winning the Ostlake Military Games Marathon in 1978. Edited by DaveIronside, 14th December 2014 - 06:11 PM.

![]() ![]() REMNS BORG BEGINS OPERATIONAL TESTING The Kingdom's second Cyborg Class drone carrier today entered operational testing. REMNS Borg was launched at Portworth by Prime Minister Harry Samuelson. The launch now see's just REMNS Dalek due to be launched which is expected to come in around 6 months time. Portworth Dockyards are also building a fourth Cyborg class carrier for the Dijel Navy marking the Kingdom's first overseas sale of naval equipment. During the launching ceremony Prime Minister Samuelson spoke of his pride at East Moreland's achievements, "We have lead the way time and again when it comes to innovation, we can thank our teachers, universities, parents and corporations for instilling our brightest young minds with the creativity and ambition to undertake such great projects. Long may it continue." It is believed that the REMNS Borg will make its first run across the Illumic next week following sessions in the Mhorish Sea, it is then expected to take up patrols with escorts in the souther Great North Sea. REJECTED CARRIER PICTURE LEAKED ![]() A Ministry of Defence spokesman today confirmed that the leaked picture of a concept for a "Nuclear Carrier Sub" was infact one that was considered, however the plan has been rejected. The project was dreamt up by designers from fledgling military technology company SmartWar and was including in the competition eventually won by the Cyborg Class drone carrier. The brief given to prospective contractors was to build "a carrier capable of ensuring East Moreland could launch a variety of aircraft from any point in the world." Martin Dawson the CEO of SmartWar gave this comment to the press once the MoD confirmed the leak was accurate. "We're a small company that prides ourselves on out of the box thinking, war is today about being able to do the unpredictable and retain the element of suprise. This was the first contract we bid for, it won't be the last, the Cyborg class carrier is a fine piece of equipment and I'm not disappointed to have lost, we learnt hell of a lot during the bidding process and we have a few more cool gadgets up our sleeves, companies like EMAC, EMRC and Porworth Dockyards didn't make their fortune and names overnight, our nation has a reputation for reliable and quality military equipment, we aim to add to that reputation." When shown the concept former Royal Navy pilot and media analyst Bruce Pearson said "I'm glad it got rejected, being a Naval pilot is hard enough without having to land on that, beside the thought of being cooped up underwater for days at a time would freak me out." The basic concept was to mount a flight deck and water tight hangers onto a wider than normal submarine, these could have then used stealth and submarine warfare tactics to get close to enemy coast lines before surfacing and launching it's aircraft. Bruce Pearson believed however this wouldn't work. "At the end of the day its slightly bonkers, once launched the sub would be pretty much defenceless and wouldn't be able to dive again until the planes returned and we're submerged, it does sound cool though." |

![]() ROYAL NAVY LAUNCH DRONE WHILE UNDERWATER ![]() East Moreland's newest technology company SmartWar today successfully demonstrated a system capable of launching a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle from a submerged submarine. REMNS Jekar was seconded to SmartWar for the test overseen by CEO Martin Dawson, the small UAV was fired in a specially constructed capsule out of the subs torpedo tube, using an on board air canister the container rose to the surface before firing the UAV vertical allowing it to unfold. The moment was captured in a series of images by a Northfort News photographer who was invited to the test. The UAV known as "The Guillemot" undertook a two hour test flight before landing at a airstrip at Illumic Command. Martin Dawson was pleased with the result. "Clearly this has no offensive weapons however it has a multitude of uses, communication, over the horizon surveillance and can be used to monitor communications. We plan to keep working on a range of drones for various missions. They must however be compact enough to be stored on a sub." Royal Navy spokesman Admiral Mintoff was also positive about the project. "Anything that provides us with extra capabilities is worth investigating. This project allows us to get a birdseye view of anywhere we can get a sub, and that means we can use stealth to gather intel in almost any theatre we are assigned" It is expected twenty of these capsules are being purchased initially with them requiring no special adaptations to the vessels other than installing the software. EAST MORELAND SILENT ON GUNGNIR DEMANDS Following the hijacking of Nordwind Flight 540 the East Moreland government have remained silent on the terrorist groups demands. The Gungnir demanded the release of several members of the Borland Separatists in exchange for East Moreland citizens being held, they also demanded James Clusky be included in an exchange. It is expected the government will be taking the usual stance of not negotiating with terrorists. It is expected that members of Red Legion will be offered to Dartfordia in order to help bring the situation under control. The Red Legion have been working side by side the Union of Nordic People military personnel in order to create the UNP's first commando unit. In a semi related matter the Emperor and Empress of Rokkenjima have both spoken out criticising Head of Longhouse Willa Sunbrek's alleged affair with one of the passengers. Foreign Minister Robert Kennedy was asked his opinion on the timing of the criticism. "I understand it had nothing to do with Emperor Alex Anselmo and was a piece done some time ago, therefore any insensitivity must lie with the tabloid not the Emperor and his wife. As for our stance we consider Willa Sunbrek a great leader and someone who has built a good relationship with the Kingdom, I'm pretty sure we've all made mistakes in our private life and we won't be beating her over the head with her's while she's in a crisis." ![]() JAMES CLUSKY KNIFED Reports released today from Northfort Military Prison reveal that the Borland Seperatist, serving a life sentence for helping carry out several terrorist attacks, was knifed by a fellow prisoner. Warden of the prison, Squadron Leader Miles said "I can confirm that Prisoner James Clusky was indeed involved in an altercation with a fellow prisoner, during a scuffle it would appear that an imporvised weapon was used to stab Clusky who is currently receiving specialist medical care at a local hospital." The prison is home to around 80 prisoners serving sentences for a range of crimes against military law, ranging from petty theft to being AWOL. The prison is also home to several "High Profile" prisoners whom the government believe would be safer in the more disciplined environment of a military prison. The former Prince Regent James Ironside is one of these and is currently serving life imprisonment for treason, mass murder and collaborating with terrorists. It is expected that James Clusky will survive the attack and when able return to the prison. ![]() HIGH PRIESTESS SPEAKS OF OUTREACH PROGRAM High Priestess Joanna today spoke of a proposed plan by the Priesthood to help followers of the Cult outside East Moreland and also promote the charity work expected of followers of the Cult. Speaking at the unveiling of a reconditioned statue of Jekar in Northfort the High Priestess made the following announcement to explain the program. "The Cult of Helus is a religion that has found itself relatively confined to the continent of Alba Karinya, with a few outposts around Mundus. In the past many of these worshippers have had to rely on the East Moreland embassy shrines to allow them to pray and take part in communal festivals. We earlier this year saw excellent work by our embassy staff in Dartfordia in which they took food during the Festival of Marissa to the people of Dartfordia, regardless of their faith. The word "Cult" to many has negative meaning, however that is not the case for us. We believe our religion is one of peace and charity, in which no one is compelled. I therefore plan on requesting that every nation in Mundus allow the Priesthood to build a temple in their capital city, or if not possible as close by as would be reasonable. I would request that we send Priests and Priestesses to these temples to help the faithful fully embrace their beliefs. While there the Temple will be tasked with helping the poor, the hungry and the needy, regardless of their faith. The first rule of our faith is that it is our personal responsibility to defend and protect those who can not do so for themselves. In recent times I believe we have been lacking in that, we have only had a mind for our neighbours, Helus commanded us to do much more. I plan on making a formal request soon to all nations of the world and I look forward to the responses." Edited by DaveIronside, 18th December 2014 - 09:28 PM.

![]() POSITIVE RESPONSE TO TEMPLE PROGRAMME ![]() The High Priestess today confirmed that she had received positive responses to her global request to build more Temples for the Cult of Helus. The request came following a meeting of the Priesthood in which the High Priestess stated she believed they were failing the faithful who live outside East Moreland. The move received widespread support amongst East Moreland citizens. Within just 24 hours of the initial request the Union of Nordic People, Severina, Supreme Sovereignty and Meche had responded positively to the programme. It is widely expected that once planning approval is granted building work will start early in the new year. "I am delighted these nations can see the benefit of granting religious freedom and support to their minority groups, I am thrilled we will have the chance to help those in need regardless of faith or nationality, I pray that I'll be able to visit these new places of worship soon and see how we can best work with local communities. There has though been one less than positive response. The Pope of Transvaal placed several conditions on the building of the Temple, namely being that it would not be permitted in Pretoria and Holland and only able to serve East Moreland citizens residing in Transvaal. High Priestess Joanna said, " I am disappointed with this response. "Earlier in the year the Pope contacted me about building a Church on a site in East Moreland, we granted permission with a few conditions ourselves, however these conditions limited the size and style of the church, much as the building of any type of new construction would be limited. We place no controls over what faith people follow, I am therefore sad to see the Pope imposing such harsh conditions on our religious community after we tried so hard to accommodate them. Dialogue between religions is, in my opinion, a key part of building a tolerant future. What amazes me even more is that Pope Frederick signed the MCHR which enshrines religious freedoms yet no seems to limit those freedoms within his homeland." ![]() PRINCESS FREYA ASKED ABOUT POTENTIAL "TUG OF WAR" As Princess Freya today left a cabinet meeting she stopped for her weekly chat to the press. One of the questions focused on the situation East Moreland may face itself in as Dartfordia's Prince Alex Anselmo and Seaforth's King Josiah II once again enter a war of words. "It's disappointing to see two men of the standing of the Prince and King unable to co-operate. Time and time again the CIS and CSTO have found themselves on the same page after shaky starts between Seaforth and the CSTO. I had hoped that was put behind us, however as these two once again start shouting off against each other these tensions will build. East Moreland will not be taking sides, we clearly thank Seaforth for its continued friendship and support and I would gladly speak in their defence at not being a threat to Rokkenjima. Meanwhile we are rebuilding things with Dartfordia and I am hopeful we can build close ties with them, and I personally believe from what my brother has told me that Alex Anselmo is a man of honour, otherwise I doubt my brother would have choosen him to be a shield parent, an honour I share with him. Perhaps Alex and Josiah need to consider the tension their words can cause their mutual friends such as ourselves and Rokkenjima." Princess Freya was then pushed about her view on the Emperor of Rokkenjima and Prince of Littlebrooks comments on Willa Sunbrek, "The Union of Nordic People is a nation we are opening up contact with, in that time I have found Willa Sunbrek to be someone worthy of respect and our friendship. My opinion on her relationship is unimportant as who she shares her bed with doesn't effect us here in East Moreland, therefore its none of my business. I prefer to concentrate on the fact that time and again she has been a rock of stability in the world." |

![]() KING AND PRINCESS SPOTTED AT ROCKHAMPTON ![]() King David was today seen in public for the first time since handing over control of the Kingdom temporarily to his sister Princess Freya. The King and his daughter Princess Rhiannon were spotted at the Rockhampton Street Market. The annual end of year market festival in the Northern city sees thousands of stalls from craftsman and artisans from across Alba Karinya. The King was seen browsing the stalls while pushing Rhiannon around in a pushchair. He was approached by several journalists but refused to answer questions relating to the Regency. He did however tell reporters that Queen Matilda's recovery was progressing "steadily" and that Crown Prince Caspian "was doing well". The King was accompanied by various members of his security detail as well as former military colleague Danny Frost. The King also stopped to speak with well wishers and was overheard telling one that "he was now an expert on changing nappies" and that he was "in the market for a mountain of stuffed toys" Later that day he was seen buying several handmade stuffed bears, honeybadgers and dogs from a local craftsman Stephen Horobin, "Knowing the future monarch is playing with toys our family have made is fantastic, I hope they get much joy from them." Meanwhile it is thought that Queen Matilda and Crown Prince Caspian's medical conditions meant they were forced to stay away from the crowds. ![]() DOUBLE DELIGHT FOR CARPENTER ![]() East Moreland Chief Councillor Timothy Carpenter today discovered that his biography, written by former lecturer Prof.Marcus Merriman has topped the East Moreland best sellers list. "The Carpenter Chronciles" document the politicians life from that of an Army child whose father died when he was aged 16, until his unarmed charge against the treasonous Blue Legion during the Regency Crisis. Professor Merriman briefly mentored Carpenter when he was completing his national service and still considers the Chief Councillor a close friend. "Tim has lead a very eventful life, the loss of his father, tragedy in his personal life and being an eye witness to two of the most important events in East Moreland's recent history, the Borland attack on Freestone and the Regency Crisis. The nice thing is knowing Tim there is far more yet to come." The Chief Councillor was interviewed many times by Professor Merriman and said the experience was rather "surreal" he added "being faced with reviewing your life with someone who has influenced my life so much was kind of awkward at first, but Marcus has a way of putting me at ease." Rumours are now circulating that an East Moreland based movie studio are considering making a biopic of the book. "I think I'd avoid seeing that." Tim joked, "Unless of course they got someone like Johnny Depp to play me or something, but that's unlikely." Later that day it was announced that the three new Red Class Frigates will break with the convention of being named after monarchs of East Moreland. A Ministry of Defence official said, "Essentially we've run out of monarchs, after several meetings with Princess Freya, serving members of the Navy and the general public we decieded to name all ships after people considered national heroes. Therefore the new ships will be REMNS Melissa Gunning, REMNS Graham Carpenter and REMNS Timothy Carpenter." The Melissa Gunning will be named after the High School teacher who died saving her class during the Freestone Missile Attack and who became the first female inducted into the Order of Canley in 100 years. Meanwhile the Graham Carpenter will be named after Chief Councillor Tim's father, a former Red Legionnaire who died in combat attempting to save members of his own Legion. In a statement made in Council Tim Carpenter said. "I am deeply honoured to know my father's sacrifice for the nation has not been forgotten, to have a ship named after myself and placed alongside a true heroine such as Melissa Gunning is the greatest honour I think I could ever receive. I am eternally grateful for being given this honour." Edited by DaveIronside, 22nd December 2014 - 08:05 PM.

![]() HOSTAGES RETURNED TO NORTHFORT ![]() There were emotional scenes today at Northfort's King Robert Airport as the East Moreland hostages involved in the Gungnir's hijacking of a Nordwind plane. After being involved in a stand off for two days at Sisko, Dartfordia, the 18 hostages were returned on a government plane that landed just after midday. The freed hostages were re-united with their loved ones who were waiting. The stand off was resolved when members of the Union of Nordic People's commando unit "The Mjoliner" stormed the aircraft killing all five of the gunmen who had taken the plane. One survivor, Holly Proctor said "It was terrifying, we heard explosions and our ears began to ring, the next thing we knew there were masked men in black running down the aisle firing at the terrorists telling us to stay down. The whole thing seemed to take less than a minute and then all we heard was people crying as we huddled on the floor together." Another of the freed hostages Kieran Peet said " I was sat with my eight year old daughter when I felt a blast and a blinding light shocked me, I just grabbed my daughter and began crying, the next minute I hear someone tell me it was over." The action is the first carried out by the UNP's new commando unit after they were set up by East Moreland's Red Legion. One rescued hostage believed that some of those who stormed the plane may have infact been members of Red Legion. Graham Rowentree, a former East Moreland Marine was onboard the aircraft, "I recognised some very strong East Moreland accents yelling at us to stay down amongst the heavily accented Nordic shouts, one group at the front of the plane wore no uniform markings while those at the back had badges stuck everywhere." We put these claims to General Oppenworth at the Ministry of Defence, "As the media are aware we do not discuss Red Legion operations until long after the event. In the past we have aided the UNP with their training and operational tasks." PRINCESS FREYA ANNOUNCES NEW YEARS HONOURS LIST ![]() ![]() ![]() Princess Freya today announced the traditional new years honours list. The list usually drawn up by the monarch in conversation with representatives of the elected government, however this year the input of King David III is unknown. Amongst those being honoured are skiier Lindsay Morton who won the nations first ever Gold Medal in the Winter Games, she is to be given a Moreland Medal, awarded to those who have commited some act considered inspirational to the nation. She is one of six members of the Team EM to be given this honour. Major Simon Collins who was the captain of Team EM was made a Sir for both services to the nation in sports and military duty. Lindsay Morton said "I'm deeply honoured to be given this award, if I've made just one young person take up skiing then I'd have been delighted, but to be considered an inspiration is really humbling." Squadron leader Danny Jules receives a Knighthood and The Moreland Cross for being the driver of SSC HoneyBadger which broke the 1000mph barrier earlier this year. Sqd Ldr Jules is currently back on duty with the Air Force carrying out training on the new DragonX fighter which is due to enter service soon. He is one of four members of Team HoneyBadger who received awards. One of the leading developers and funders of the car is EMAC CEO Sir Alan Maybury who find himself promoted to Lord Maybury. Dr.Felicia Henry will be inducted into the Order of Royal Squires for giving meritorious service to the Royal family and nation. Dr.Henry has been the royal doctor for a number of years and was responsible for helping in the delivery of the royal twins as well as operating on Queen Matilda following the birth. In the days following the birth King David III told the media she was " a rock that our family have become to rely on greatly in our most difficult moments." Oddly some traditions were broken, most notably the outgoing Chief of Royal Household has always received an honour, however Alex Redfern is absent from the list further fuelling speculation that he left the job following arguments with the new Regent. |

![]() INCREASED PATROLS IN THE ILLUMIC ![]() Following a statement from Supreme Sovereignty stating they are sending troops to support the Daimyo Mori and the announcement of a Church run eugenics programme in Seaforth, the Admiralty have announced that they are to increase patrols in the Illumic. "We have in the region two organisations very capable of sorting this mess in Toshikawa out, both the Alba Karinya Organisation and the Illumic Council exist with procedures in place to handle this yet several members of the international community have sought to circumvent this despite not coming from the region. We urge Commandant Wesley to reconsider supporting this Daimyo whom has not proven he has the support of the people of Toshikawa or that he will abide by things such as the MCUR or regional agreements. Meanwhile territories more familiar with the situation on the ground such as Jenka and Takeda have called a conference with a different Diamyo who has stated in intent to preserve both Takeda and Jenka . We therefore are increasing our patrols and will not permit any military vessels of nations declaring support for Mori to transverse our waters." It is expected that a further force of the aircraft carrier REMNS Portworth, Destroyers, REMNS Robert The Second, REMNS Frederick The Wise, REMNS Eoin The Second and REMNS David The Poet as well as Frigates REMNS Walter The First, REMNS Christian The Dark, REMNS Rolande The First, REMNS Alexander The First, REMNS Robert The Third and REMNS Cameron The First will supplement the regular patrols in the Illumic. These forces will be supported with aircraft flying out of both Illumic Command and Illumic East. SEAFORTH EUGENICS PROGRAMME In documents verified by the Northfort News it has been discovered that the Seaforth Church has for centuries manipulated blood lines to create different "castes" within society. The documents were leaked to the press by a reporter going by the name of Tara X, these documents show that this manipulation began in 1923 and even included the royal family. Princess Freya was quick to make a statement in which she condemned the practice but offered her support for the Rhodes family. This support was echoed by Prime Minister Harry Samuelson. "The Rhodes have ever been friends to East Moreland and I have been proud to consider that nation an ally. That has not changed, the royals of Seaforth have always tried to act honourably as too has the military of Seaforth that many Morelanders have had the honour to serve alongside. We will lend the people of Seaforth whatever support is needed at this difficult time, be that moral support in our prayers or physical help by offering asylum to any who fear the Churches programme. I would urge the Rhodes family to get in touch with us so we can support them working through this difficult time." |

![]() HIGH PRIESTESS CALLS BARREN MARRIAGE "HERESY" ![]() Following news that the Borlanders "High Priestess" has granted Kyle Barren permission to take a 2nd wife, High Priestess Joanna Ironside has responded by calling it a Heresy. In a press conference following prayers in Northfort she said "The Priesthood of Helus saw fit to grant me the title of High Priestess because of my knowledge of scripture, never in my 20 years of studying it have I ever heard of the line that Mary Sutton is claiming, yes Marissa had a child with Elief but in every version of the scripture that was prior to Elief marrying his human wife." Prime Minister Harry Samuelson also commented on the news during his statement in today's Council session. "Nothing surprises me anymore about the Borlanders, not only are they intent on killing East Moreland they are now intent on destroying the faith millions of people, including their own, hold dear. The news of Barren taking a young wife with permission of the Priesthood is abhorrent. This is surely a move just to try and ensure the future of his polluted blood." ![]() KING DAVID MAKES RARE VISIT TO NORTHFORT King David III today was spotted attending the Ministry of Defence building in Northfort. This marks a rare visit since the birth of his children to the capital and what appears to be an official piece of business. This sparked rumour that the King was authorising the use of the armed forces in regards to the situation unfolding in Seaforth. While the King refused to be drawn on that rumour he did say, "The Kingdom of Seaforth are our more than our allies, they are our friends, we always stand by our friends. Those friends are not a corrupt entity like the Church appears to be, those friends are the millions of ordinary Seaforthians and their royal family, should the situation require it then East Moreland military personnel would do right by those friends." Later that day it was announced that over the coming weeks Duke Legion will be taking parts in what the Ministry of Defence has called "Logistical Exercises" at Illumic East, a spokesman saying. "This new base has been one we have been slowly building up, we need to ensure our forces are familiar with it and we have the ability to quickly and effectively support operations there if need be. These exercises had been planned for weeks and have nothing to do with what is happening in Seaforth" |

![]() MoD ANNOUNCE FINAL PROCUREMENT ![]() Fast Frigate Artists Impression Over the last twelve months the Ministry of Defence have spoken of the need to expand the East Moreland Navy, Prime Minister Harry Samuelson stated several months ago that he felt "East Moreland face growing needs to support operation around the world and this has seen a switch in focus from our superb Army and Air Force to our Navy. For decades they've been kept reasonably small, just enough to defend our nation, however the Safraen crisis and the issue with Veashek in the Matilda Canals saw us need to stretch our capabilities. That is unacceptable." Today the Ministry of Defence announced what Junior Minister Clayton described as "The final spending for the foreseable future." Having earlier in the year announced the construction of two Duke Class Destroyers, three Red Class Frigates and a further Flagship Class AWS the MoD have announced today six more ships to join the expanded Navy. The first acqusition will be a joint CSTO/CIS project to build a Missile Cruiser The East Moreland government have been involved with several other national governments in the research and development stage of the project and will now acquire three of the vessels to suppliment the Duke Class Destroyers. Another new collaborative project was announced with the "Fast Frigate Class" that is a project between East Moreland, Seaforth, Rokkenjima, Dartfordia, Achkaerin and Quinntopia. One of the EMAC team who worked on the R&D of the project described it as a unique design. "We've essentially come up with a Frigate that can be outfitted for each mission. While the hull and superstructure will be standard nations can literally unbolt and bolt in modular systems to create a vessel unique to their nation and mission. We've calculated for example the main gun can be changed within 48 hours because of the system and the finer adjustments made while at sea. The East Moreland version will be utilising the PAAMS radar system from EMAC which will allow the vessel to track in excess of 1,000 targets at ranges of up-to 400 km providing excellent coverage. The main strength of the vessel is its hull structure which will make minimal radar signatures while allowing speeds of up to 40knts to be achieved. East Moreland will be ordering five of the Fast Frigates. ![]() |

![]() REGENT MAKES NEW YEARS ADDRESS IN FREESTONE ![]() At this years Freestone Festival the traditional New Years Address given prior to the headline act was given by Princess Freya, it marks the first time in fifteen years that a member of the royal family has made it. She took to the stage prior to the performance of 2Cellos and recieved a warm welcome from the crowd. She used her address to review the nations achievements in the past 12 months and highlight her views on the year ahead.
Following the address the Princess boarded a helicopter and flew to Highwick Manor to see in the New Year with the Ironside and Lucas families. ![]() 2 CELLOS ROCK FREESTONE Luka Šulić and Stjepan Hauser known as 2Cellos headlined the traditional New Years Music Festival in Freestone. They were introduced on stage by Chief Councillor Timothy Carpenter who was seen during their performance dancing backstage. The pair are natives of Freestone and their high energy performance was watched by around 100,000 people crammed into the streets and on big screens around the City Plaza. The show ended what has been an incredible year for the pair who took part in their first overseas tour when they played in Achkaerin. They are also due to play at Mundus Pride in Uppsala in the coming month. Luka told us after the performance, "It was incredible, to have the fireworks go off at midnight after finishing one song, to then start performing again straight after was a buzz, the crowd seemed really up for it too , this has been my favourite performance so far." Stjepan meanwhile said he was looking forward to a big 2015, "Getting to play with loads of performers from around Mundus in Uppsala is going to be great. I think many of them will be surprised what two blokes with horse hair bows and cellos can do. I also plan on doing some serious crowd surfing." Edited by DaveIronside, 1st January 2015 - 11:26 AM.

![]() SEAFORTH CONFUSION SEE'S ALERT LEVEL RAISED ![]() After the discredited Church of Seaforth announced the death of King Josiah the members of Duke Legion who had been part of a logistics exercise at Illumic East have been placed on high alert. The news came that the King had died of mutated Lassa Fever. Princess Freya started her cabinet meeting with words in honour of the deceased King. "King Josiah was a great leader of his country, he also proved himself to be a great friend to our nation he will be greatly missed and our thoughts and prayers are with his children, and his people at this difficult time." Soon after reports came through of an attempted coup by members of Seaforth's military. This coup has appeared to fail and has seen an arrest warrant issued for several members of the Seaforth military. It was this that lead the Ministry of Defence to place Duke Legion on standby. Princess Freya announced the move to the cabinet saying, "Clearly something is rotten in the state of Seaforth, our responsibility as a member of the CIS is to help ensure the stability of Seaforth. As far as my understanding goes Prince Joshua is now King of Seaforth, as such we will take our lead from him and we stand ready to support him in his reign as he has done East Moreland." The move also comes just days after an increase in the number of ships patrolling the Illumic was announced. ![]() ROCKETS SEIZED IN ILLEGAL SHIPMENT A vessel entering East Moreland territorial water was today boarded by the Royal East Moreland Navy and 27 artillery rockets were discovered onboard hidden amongst pipes. The vessel was brought to Illumic Command where the boat was impounded and the crew placed under arrest. The rockets are of a design seen amongst Borland weapons caches that were hit last month and have an effective range of around 100km. The Ministry of Defence declined to comment on the potential number of these rockets the Borlanders had, however they did state. "Following the Freestone attack we have significantly beefed up our Jekar Shield system and shortly this will be supplemented with the Jekar Arrow and Jekar Eye systems. " The rockets are significantly less sophisticated than those that hit Freestone , and have significantly less destructive power. |

![]() IO GAMES COME TO NORTHFORT ![]() Yesterday the Indpendent Order Games voting closed and East Moreland was chosen to host the prestigious sporting event. It marks the nations first time hosting a major international event. Dame Henrietta Quinn, Minister of Culture and Tradition was instrumental in putting together the East Moreland bid which will be centred around the newly built Northfort Sports Academy. Dame Quinn headed a committee following the nations first involvement in the IO Games, which was responsible for establishing the facility. "In the past we'd relied on our armed forces to bring through sporting talent, while we were happy with the performance in the last games we knew we had to invest in sport if we wanted to raise our game, the fact these facilities will be used for the first time at such a prestigious event shows we must have done something right." The Academy was due to host its first events in the coming spring but now the IO Games will be the venue's debut. One of the athletes on the committee was 19 year old swimmer Daisy Greechan. The youngster became the first East Morelander to win gold in the freestyle and anchored the teams silver winning relay. "I was asked to give advice from a young persons perspective, never did I imagine my feedback would help us get the IO games so quickly. I dreamt in Kazarovia of one day competing at the games in front of my home fans but didn't expect it to be the next games, its going to be amazing." The youngster is expected to feature as one of the faces of the games and expectation on her is going to be huge. Since winning the medals in Kazarovia she has completed high school and is currently serving her national service as a rescue swimmer onboard REMNS King Robert. More details of the games are due to be released in the coming days but already venues are being flooded with enquires about tickets. ![]() EAST MORELAND PRIDE DELEGATES ANNOUNCED Princess Freya and her niece the Archduchess Sophie Harrison-Ironside will lead the East Moreland delegation attending Mundus Pride in Uppsala. Princess Freya has recently visited Uppsala in order to conclude some diplomatic talks with the Union of Nordic People, however this time her visit will be less formal. Speaking to the Northfort News she said "East Moreland has long been accepting of the LGBT community, I mean we even had a God who many could say was Transgender, Helus often changed himself into a woman to better hide amongst humans, so how could we be anything other. It did however take us longer than many nations to allow same sex marriage but we got their eventually. That's not to say the LGBT community in East Moreland don't face issues, as their regent it's my duty to ensure I protect their rights just as much as any other group within society, attending Pride is an oppurtunity for me to show my support and also learn a lot from the community itself. Hopefully its also a chance to have some fun." Meanwhile it is suggested that the Archduchess' attendance is another step in grooming her to one day assume more responsibility within the royal family. She has so far made one official visit which was to Supreme Sovreignty which ended in a failed assassination attempt, the regent spoke of her nieces need to experience more of the role of a royal by saying "Sophie is a bright young girl who will make an outstanding ambassador for this nation, this trip will be a chance for her to experience more of Mundus, maybe meet some other dignities and put the unfortunate issue of her last trip behind her. After Pride though she'll be focusing on her athletics career in the build up to the IO Games." The rest of the East Moreland delegation is to be made up of Chief Councillor Timothy Carpenter and High Priestess Joanna Ironside |

![]() TEAM HONEYBADGER TO GO AQUATIC ![]() EMAC, Portworth Ship Yard and Technology City Engineering Institute today announced that they are working on a project to break the Mundus Water Speed Record. The current record stands at 317.596 mph (511.121 km/h) and was set in 1978. There have been many attempts to break the record since and these have seen an 70% of attempts end in a fatality it is considered the most dangerous sporting record in Mundus. Sir Alan Maybury of EMAC, who was also the project leader of SSC HoneyBadger was part of the team that made the announcement. "Through the 40's and 50's teams tried this on a regular basis, sadly often fatal, today however safety has improved vastly and we believe that we can get a safe and record breaking vehicle. We demonstrated the great technological skills we have in this nation when we broke the 1000mph mark with the SSC HoneyBadger, now we basically intend to take the wheels off, stick a hull on and see what we can do on water. Although I suspect it will be slightly more technical and complex than that." Sir Maybury also went on to explain the reason for doing this, "After SSC HoneyBadger we saw an increase in the number of young people considering a career in engineering or science, it captured the imagination, we believe this project will keep that momentum going, who knows following this we'll go for the air speed record and East Moreland will be able to call itself the Kingdom of Speed." The craft will be known as the WaterBadger and around 70% of the engineers from SSC HoneyBadger will be involved, Sqd Ldr Danny Jules however will be replaced at the controls by East Moreland's number one ranked Powerboat Racer Kevin Trace, a former Air Force fast jet pilot like Jules. "I'm well aware of the dangers of this event, however the last serious attempts came in the 1970's, the world's developed a lot since then and I'm confident the boffins wouldn't put me in a boat thats likely to kill me. I'm excited to have a chance to help develop a wonderous machine." the team appeared at Technology City with a mock up of the boat described by one engineer as a "Jet Engine powered torpedo". ![]() "VOICE OF BORLAND" ARRESTED Graham Barrett, known by many as the "voice of Borland" was yesterday arrested when Red Legion carried out an early evening raid on a suspected arms cache of the Borlanders. The 20 year old has been making pirate radio broadcasts around Mundus for the last two years in an attempt to rally support for the Borlanders illegitimate claims. It is known that the illegal station had broadcast from both High Rock and Sea Towers, often using the internet as a way of spreading their message of hate. In one broadcast Barrett played Kool and The Gang's "Celebration" after announcing the missile attack on Freestone which killed close to 200 people while playing Rage Against The Machine's Bullet to the Head following the assassination of the King's mother Lady Helena. The reason for the youngster being in the warehouse are yet to be announced but many suspect he was preparing for another illegal broadcast. He has in the past also been accused as acting as a conduit for Borland terror cells to pass information. Prime Minister Harry Samuelson stated, "This arrest may seem insignificant to those on the outside, yet this snot nosed youth had been a constant mocker of East Moreland during our times of tragedy and clearly has been aiding a terrorist group, the fact these things will now stop and in fact a large hinderance to the Borland organisation." However international groups have said they believe Barrett was merely "exercising his right to freedom of expression." Barrett is expected to appear in Northfort Crown Court after the weekend. |

![]() ROYALS ANNOUNCE "PROGRESS" WITH SHOW OF SUPPORT ![]() Speaking in Portworth at the Marine Institute the King and Queen announced an intended "Royal Progress" something not seen in East Moreland for over two hundred years. The traditional journey touring around the Kingdom's major towns and cities was a regular feature of the royal family until the 18th Century when it became less regular. The announcement also saw the royal family appear together for the first time in six months, each wearing a Dire Wolf badge, the King embroidered on his blazer and the Queen with a pin badge on her scarf. They pair spoke to the press for around twenty minutes before driving back to Highwick Manor. During the press conference the King spoke of the reason behind the progress. "For the last six months I've felt detached from my Kingdom, so much is going on in East Moreland that I should be seeing, my subjects doing great things, I've also been going a little stir crazy at the manor." meanwhile Queen Matilda added, "According to my physio I need to try and be more mobile, I cant think of a better way than getting out around the country." The first stop on the visit will be Valeview Primary School in Northfort, a school at which Queen Matilda volunteered with an eco-garden project and was actually visiting when she went into labour. "I'm very excited to see the class again, they are wonderful children and they were so excited to have the garden, I can't wait to see it and them again." following a stay in Northfort for two days the family will head to Roberton to see the cities famous Orchestra premier a new piece. When asked about the Dire Wolf badges the King responded by saying "I've always made it clear that I recognise the Rhodes family as the legitamate authority in Seaforth, these are difficult times for their nation and I just want to let the people there know they have my full support" meanwhile Queen Matilda replied by saying, "When our family faced problems, King Joshua was there to lend us support, this is us trying to repay that kindness. The people of Seaforth are our neighbours and friends and we want to let them know they are in our thoughts." |

![]() KING OPENS LITERACY TEEPEE The King and Queen began their Royal Progress today by visiting Valeview Primary School in Northfort. The small school is used by around 100 students and was part of a series of projects supported by Queen Matilda before giving birth. While volunteering at the school she helped construct a garden for the students to help promote their understanding of the environment. It was while opening this garden that the Queen went into labour. This was however the King's first visit to the school and he was unexpectedly asked to unveil the schools "Literacy Teepee" , a task he happily performed. The Royal Twins accompanied their parents and one of the first to use the new teepee was Prince Caspian who seemed to enjoy a nap in the tent designed as a comfortable quiet reading area for students. A large crowd turned out to see the Royal Family who spent several hours at the school. The Queen spent time with the students she had worked with during her volunteer work while the King sat for portraits painted by the Year 4 students before allowing himself to be interview by the Year 6 students for the school newsletter. As he left the school the King said, "Today has been a very productive day, I think we've got a few new portraits for the Royal Galleries and perhaps you folks at the Northfort News can retire." Morgan Harewood of Class 6B was one of the students who interviewed the King, "He was very friendly and answered all our questions like what a King has for breakfast and whether he has servants who brush his teeth for him." the young interviewer confirmed that the King does not. Tomorrow the Royal Family will visit the Royal Museum where an exhibit on King David, Princess Freya and High Priestess Joanna is being displayed. ![]() CHIEF COUNCILLOR REFUSES TO REGISTER AS BEING PARTY AFFILIATED As elections draw closer the deadline for establishing a political party eligable for the TV debates came today. Seven parties have been registered, these include East Moreland's first political party the National Traditionalist Party and former military hero Hugo McGregor's People Party. The major surprise of the day however came when Chief Councillor Tim Carpenter announced that he would not register an affiliation with any party. This makes him one of only 76 Councillors in the 600 member Assembly that has not affiliated themselves with a party. Speaking at a demonstration outside the Seaforth Embassy, where his legendary megaphone made an appearance, the Chief Councillor stated, "I was elected to represent the people of Freestone and East Moreland, I was not elected to represent a political ideology or the agenda of a certain group of individuals. If this means that I lose my position as Chief Councillor in a few months then so be it, it's been a fun ride, I will be standing for re-election in Freestone and I hope to remain in the Assembly, whether that's as a simple representative of the city or being given the privledge to remain in this role well that's for the voters to decide I guess." Meanwhile Prime Minister Harry Samuelson, who is appointed by the King, commented "Personally I'd have preferred to see the assembly remain the domain of independent's, however this seemed a remote possibility once the nations 1st Assembly was elected. I believe a time will come when the elected portion of the Royal Council will be made up of political parties as well." When asked whether he intended to join a party he said, "If I'm honest I know very little about many of them, I will take the time to read up on them before considering whether to give any my support. At present I'm very impressed by what Miss Prohbert of the Justice Party is saying, however time will tell." |

![]() OSMANTECH AIM TO REDUCE MALNUTRITION ![]() Today Lord Lucas Osman, the owner of OsmanTech, announced a programme the company hoped would have a severe impact on malnutrition in developing countries. Speaking at a press conference at the companies HQ at Portworth he said, "OsmanTech will be making mebendazole and albendazole tablets available to nations where parasitic worms are a problem. These tablets will be provided without charge and we hope that it will have a significant impact on the lives of many young people." In developing nations parasitic worms can be present in up to 50% of the population and can be responsible for diverting valuable proteins and nutrients away from their unwitting host. Lord Osman continued by saying, "I am only to aware that this will not be some magic bullet to solve the problems of malnutrition however I hope this move will put the issue of malnutrition on the global radar and maybe make a difference to the lives of many young people who see their development slowed by these worms." Experts say that the treatment will have negligible impact on the condition of those effected as the primary problem is the general lack of food, however many agree that this act by OsmanTech will highlight the issue. ![]() "CARPENTER COMMITED CAREER SUICIDE" SAYS McGREGOR Representative Councillor for Oldcliffe and new leader of the People's Party, Hugo McGregor today claims Chief Councillor Timothy Carpenter has commited "career suicide" Speaking in the first interview given by a political party leader Mr.McGregor, a former Colonel of the 1st Light Scouts, said, "I believe Mr.Carpenter has done an exceptional job, especially for the Morelanders under the age of 30, however us older gents feel neglected by his term in office, I think he could have had a bright future in politics but by refusing to join a political party he's essentially telling voters he doesn't stand for anything and I think that'll turn them off from voting for him, essentially it'll prove to be career suicide." Mr.McGregor represents the neighbouring constituency to Chief Councillor Carpenter and the pair have collaborated on my projects in Freestone. ![]() REMNS TOM PICKLE LAUNCHED East Moreland's second Flagship Class Amphibious Warfare ship was launched today at Portworth. ![]() ROYAL MAUSOLEUM VANDALISM LEADS TO TERROR DISCOVERY ![]() The Ironside family Mausoleum located on Temple Hill just outside Northfort today was found to have been vandalised. The Masusoleum was built in the 17th Century by King Conner I and contains the funeral urns of every member of the Ironside family to have died since 1703. The structure also contains a shrine to the God of Death and the Afterlife, Rolaf, and is visited by several tens of thousands of pilgrims a year. Today during a routine security sweep the plaque bearing the dates of birth and death of the Ironside family had been defaced, added to the list was "Prince Caspian, 3rd June 2014 - 24th January 2015" Upon discovery of the damage security teams alerted the Police who within an hour had reviewed footage and discovered the identity on the individual who had commited the damage. Upon attending the individuals address they discovered several illegal firearms and photographs of the King and Queen taken during their recent visit to Northfort. Northfort Police Chief Stephen Mailer said "Royal security is exceptionally good and as a result we see no need to increase it, the Borlanders are forever making threats against the King and Queen, should we react to everyone with knee jerk horror then the royal couple would never go anywhere." The Police then proceeded to release details of the individual who they believe was responsible for the damage. "We are looking to speak to a Simon Marshall, anyone aware of his whereabouts is asked to contact the police as soon as possible." The royal family were expected to be visiting Technology City on Saturday however it is yet to be confirmed whether this planned visit is still going ahead. ELECTION DATE CONFIRMED AND CIVIC DEMOCRAT PARTY COME OUT SWINGING ![]() Prime Minister Harry Samuelson today announced that elections for the Representative Council will take place on the 13th of February. The elections will be the first in East Moreland to feature political parties and the Civic Democrat Party lead by Clayton Rollins were quick to start their campaign. Speaking in his Keepton constituancy he announced that he was seeking to make the Prime Minister a directly elected position. "While we believe Mr.Samuelson to be an honourable man who has done a great service for this nation he is one of the King's men, he works for the monarch and not for the people, it is vital we have a government that is fully elected by the people it is supposed to serve." Currently the Civic Democrat party has 197 seats in the current Council giving them 32% of the current Council, the party are expected to pick up a few more seats in the coming elections. |

![]() ![]() IO GAMES FEVER HITS EAST MORELAND As we reach of the eve of the Independent Order Games in Northfort the city has been swept with sporting fever. Thousands of people have flooded into Northfort from all corners of Mundus to watch the sporting spectacular and the city has become awash with colours. Every hotel, every bar and restaurant has the flags of various nations hanging outside and already "Fan Zones" have begun catering to visitors and locals alike. The largest "fan zone" is located within Mayfield Park and has already been featuring re-runs of great moments from past games as well as appearances of local musical performers. Today the captain of Team EM, Duke Legion Major Chris Collins, said that he was excited by "the wealth of young talent in the team that are sure to thrive in their own backyard." In an interview Collins said, "We saw at the Winter Games how the East Moreland team rose spectacularly to the targets set, now we have to do the same." The epee fencer went on to pick his four young stars to watch. DAISY GREECHAN - (Top Left) Won a gold and a silver at the last games in the swimming, a then 16 year old freestyler she has gone on to expand her repetra of events, including open water swimming. She has spent the last 12 months spliting her time between training and serving as a rescue diver in the East Moreland Navy. The 18 year old is expected to once again anchor the women's relay team. JON JOE GUPPY (Top Right) a 16 year old foil and sabre fencer the youngster exploded onto the East Moreland fencing scene just 6 months ago. With an aggressive style and on off piste obsession with playing the drums he is seen as a charismatic youngster with a bright future in the sport. Already the East Moreland Under 18 Champion in Sabre he hopes to add to the title during the games. MAX SUMMERBEE ( Bottom Right) The 22 year old track and road cycler has earned a reputation for being a long distance finisher, taking the East Moreland Road Race Title he broke 17km from home to hold off the chasing pack. A broken collarbone stopped him competing in the last IO Games and he has been keen to make up for lost time in the run up to these. ARCHDUCHESS SOPHIE HARRISON-IRONSIDE (Bottom Left) In a nation obsessed with it's royal family the 17 year old's life sounds like something out of a film already. The child of High Priestess Joanna she was adopted at a young age and only discovered her true identity six months ago, by which time people where already touting her as a potential outside hope of a IO Games medal. A cross country runner she has achieved limited success on the track and will compete in both the women's cross country and 30,000 meters. Considered more of a medal hopeful for the next games her inclusion is certainly no publicity stunt. |

![]() ![]() KING ANGRY OVER LACK OF PROGRESS FINDING FUGATIVE The King today was overheard lambasting the Police over their inability to find Simon Marshall, a suspected Borlander who has threatened to kill Prince Caspian tomorrow. In a press release the Police of Keepton said they believed he was hiding somewhere in the city and released a photograph from the fugitive's Facebook account showing him posing with an AK-47, a preferred weapon of the Borland Separatists. The Chief of Police in Keepton, Martin Scorn warned people that they should consider him a "dangerous individual with little to lose" and that he "should not be approached". Meanwhile the King was heard in the corridors of the Northfort Police HQ following a press conference yelling at Northfort Police Chief Stephen Mailer. During an expletive laden rant the King was overheard yelling. "I don't give a **** about your code of conduct, if I have to drive up to Keepton and snap the trigger finger off every man I see I'll ****ing do it. Should one hair of my son's head be so much as out of place a swear to Helus I will drive to your house, take your own hand gun, shove it up your arse and pull the trigger til it goes click, at which point I will ****ing beat you to death with it. I want this **** found and I don't give a **** if he's killed." The rant saw the Palace's new Head of Communications, Malcolm Tucker make an apology on the King's behalf. "Clearly these are difficult times for the King, he is clearly worried for the safety of his family and I don't know of any father who would remain calm in those circumstances. I am sure the King wishes his people to know that he is fully supportive of the Police and knows they are doing everything possible to ensure Caspian's safety." The King will still be visiting Technology City as scheduled however the Queen and Royal Twins will not be taking part in the visit. Edited by DaveIronside, 24th January 2015 - 01:13 PM.

![]() ![]() FOUR DEAD, TEN INJURED AS KING TARGETTED As the King returned from a visit to Technology City his convoy was attacked by the Borland Seperatsists using a remote controlled improvised mortar. Three rockets were fired, the first flipping the King's vehicle on its roof, the second narrowly missing and the third seemed to purposely be delayed to fire in mid air catching people in the open with flying shrapnel. The attack comes on a day that an alleged Borlander by the name Simon Marshall had threatened the death of Prince Caspian. During the attack three members of the King's security detail and one 19 year old man were killed while several others were caught in the blast of the third rocket. The vehicle was found several streets away and seemed to have been fired remotely using an electrical device and powered using dmoestically avalaible chemicals. Within a minute of the first explosion the Rapid Reaction Force from the local barracks was inbound and evacuated the King and his wounded head of security William Buckley. They were both taken to the hospital at the army barracks where Buckley required surgury on an abdominal injury while the King had a concussion, minor cut to his head and a dislocated shoulder. The King is being kept in over night but doctors said this was a "precaution" 19 year old Sam Tate was killed by the third blast as he was offering medical assistance to one of the injured security agents. A local medical student his friends described him as " a young man dedicated to helping others" and "a person with the ability to light up a room." Several of the injured people in the attack were also running towards the scene as the third rocket exploded. One was 34 year old waitress Mary Hendry. "I heard a loud bang and saw a vehicle on it's roof I assumed there had been a car accident so I took my pinny off and headed out to help as I've done some first aid. I then got knocked off my feet as the second thing exploded, it probably saved my life as I fell behind a flowerbed which the third one left terribly damaged by the flying metal." Miss Hendry suffered minor cuts to her legs and a perforated ear drum. Princess Freya flew to the hospital to visit her brother and then made the following statement. "Once again the Borlanders have shown that they are nothing but cowards, purposely making a weapon to harm good Samaritans. I am thankful to all those who tried to aid those stricken by these attacks and rest assured our security services will find whoever did this and they will be brought to justice. Our prayers are with those today who have been brutally murdered." In response to the attacks there has been an increased Police presence on the streets supported by members of Duke Legion. ![]() ![]() MILITARY MAKE ARRESTS, ACCUSED OF BRUTALITY In response to the attempted assassination of King David a few days ago the Army today raided a number of properties across the Kingdom making 23 arrests. The majority of these came in Roberton where 15 people where arrested in two raids. During one of the arrests members of the Tactical Support Regiment, usually a unit giving support to counter terrorism operations, were spotted beating a young suspect while he was on the ground. An eye witness captured the moment on their mobile phone and the footage has since gone global. This footage also included the conclusion of the attack where the young man, covered in blood, was placed in the back of an armoured vehicle. The names of the suspects has not yet been released. General Middleton, commander of the armed forces stated, "We are aware of the arrests and successful operation carried out by the TSR. This kind of operation presents a unique set of challenges and our men and woman overcame them robustly." Meanwhile an eye witness spoke of the attack. "One man knelt on the man's neck as two others put their boots in, one aimed kicks at his head. I had no idea who he was but he looked to be about twenty. He didn't put up any fight, I mean he couldn't, everything was just so fast he had no chance to defend himself." Reports on the condition of the suspect have not been released to the press despite several requests. Some bystanders however believed nothing was wrong. "The man is a Borlander, they routinely do far worse to the people of East Moreland and no one says anything, the youth got what he had coming to him, if I'd had my way I'd have dragged him behind a wall and shot him, I say he got off lightly." The incident could spark investigations under either the MCUR or the Uppsala Convention and Amnesty International have already called for the military to be open about what took place and allow a full independent investigation. |

![]() ![]() ARCHDUCHESS AMONGST THE MEDALS On Day Six of the games Archduchess Sophie earned herself two silver medals. The 17 year old came 2nd in the individual event and her time contributed to the East Moreland women's team finishing in 2nd place behind Achkaerin. The youngster was considered a long shot for a medal but a confident run saw her tuck in behind the Ackhaerin winner and narrowly miss out on a sprint for the finish. The games so far see East Moreland in fourth place in the medal table having earned 8 Golds. Daisy Greechan added to her medal tally of a silver in the 200m Butterfly and Bronze in 100m Freestyle, by taking the Bronze in the 10km Open Water swim, while the Dunne brothers took Gold in the Coxless Pairs rowing. Later that day medals came thick and fast in the fencing, something that is bound to please the home crowd in a nation that prides itself on its fencing pedigree. Ian Brennan took silver in the Men's Kendo while his training partners Rebecca Ellis and Isla Hutchinson took the Gold and Bronze in the women's event. All the events of the games have so far been well attended with tickets selling quickly for each event. Speaking to the media following her silver medal performance the young royal said "It felt incredible to head into the home stretch and hear all the fans cheering, it'll be a moment that will live with me all my life. I'm just disappointed I had nothing left in the tank at the very end. On behalf of the athletes I'd like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting us, its been an amazing games so far." The Archduchess' Uncle King David III was present at the finish along with the rest of the royal family. "To have a medal winning athlete in the family is a very proud moment, she's a long career ahead of her and hopefully a trophy room full of metal wear." |

![]() ![]() PEGASUS LEGION REACH HALIFAX After landing in Seaforth several days ago the forces of Pegasus Legion have slowly begun to link up with local loyalists forces. This morning word was received that following a successful link up with the Seaforth Foreign Legion contingent lead by Joshua Rhodes that the first major town has fallen under control of forces loyal to the Rhodes family. Members of the 4th Royal Rifles entered the city following fierce street to street fighting supported by air sorties from Illumic East and REMNS Portworth in the Illumic itself. One Royal East Moreland Air Force aircraft was shot down, however its pilot ejected safely as was later recovered by Search and Rescue teams, however 9 Legionnaires were killed during actions within Halifax. The fall of Halifax marks the first populated area to fall to the loyalists, medical teams moved into the area to help treat those who were suffering from Lassa Fever. Princess Freya spoke of her pride at her Legion's achievement. "As a member of Pegasus Legion I'm exceptionally proud at what they have achieved and the work they are doing. I pray they will soon have helped free the whole of Seaforth from the tyranny of the SCC and that they return home safely." ERIN OSMAN TO APPEAR ON "I'M A CELEBRITY" ![]() The Queen's youngest sister, Erin Osman, has been announced as one of the contestants on the up coming "I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here". The 24 year old socialite will be perhaps the biggest name to appear on what some have described as "nothing more than media swill." East Moreland has long remained clear of reality TV that has gained a foothold around Mundus, however this programme marks the first step into this field of media in the Kingdom. Erin Osman is expected to be joined by major names in the fields of sport, music and film. The youngest member of the Osman family however appears to be more well known for her family name and a string of relationships with East Moreland's most eligable bachelors which includes rugby player Dan Lugars, Formula Mundus Driver Matt Cooke and former Head of Royal Household Alex Redfern. ![]() EAST MORELAND GO 2nd IN MEDAL TABLE On Day 7 of the games the host nation moved into 2nd place in the medal table. The day saw Gold come in the Men's Team Kendo where Team EM beat Transvaal 3-2. The victory marks the first sword discipline gold for the nation at this games, something that will delight the nation as much of the nations culture is based on swordsmanship. Katie Morris then added a Bronze to the teams tally with a Bronze in the Tumbling event, the 16 year old from Northfort missed out on a silver by 0.025 of a point, she then picked up a 2nd Bronze in the teams event before seeing the men's team take the Gold. Jasmin Annaelle became the first woman to take a diving gold by winning the 10m Platform event to round off a very successful day for the nations athletes. |

![]() ![]() NORTHFORT TAKES TO STREETS Following what has become known as the "Day of Terror" the city of Northfort was brough to a halt this evening as hundreds of thousands of people headed out onto the streets. The string of horrific terrorist attacks began in the city after Borlanders used commercial drones to land improvised explosive devices inside the Rokkenjiman embassy compound killing nine members of embassy staff. Further attacks came in the city when another improvised mortar attack was carried out of Seatfoth's sovereign territory of Falkenrith Lodge, meanwhile at the same time a bomb exploded outside Achkaerin's Riverie Corporations Technology City HQ. It was then soon reported that a series of bombs had exploded in Dartfordia killing around 200, while our own High Priestess was almost assassinated while visiting Achkaerin's Lunar Isle. The day's string of attacks carried out around the globe seem to indicate a well co-ordianted operation made up of actions of several terrorist organisations. The largest loss of life of Morelanders came however in a shooting carried out by a member of the SCC in Illumic East, a lone gunman murdered 13 servicemen before being killed himself. Princess Freya attended the vigil held in the city centre and spoke briefly to the crowd.
![]() TEAM EM STAY TOP OF MEDAL TABLE Team EM remain top of the medal table as the IO Games reached the end of Day 9. With a total of 18 golds and 45 medals overall the team are narrowly ahead of Achkaerin. Today saw William Tate win a silver on the High Bar in gymnastics, followed by Ian Baggins taking the silver in the Men's Omnium in the velodrome. Success on two wheels continued as Peter Maddy took the Gold medal in the Men's Mountain Bike race, the 30 year old from Rockhampton is a relatively recent convert to mountain biking from track stage racing. A second gold medal came as 19 year old Tammy Collins took the Gold in the women's 75kg Boxing. As the final day of the Equestrian comes tomorrow Team EM stand in 2nd place narrowly behind Achkaerin. ![]() DRAGON X ENTER SEAFORTH THEATRE The Ministry of Defence last night confirmed that Dragon X fighters had taken part in their first operations over Seaforth. ![]() ![]() SMARTWAR UNVEIL CHAMELEON TANK East Moreland's newest arms company, SmartWar, today unveiled their flagship project the Chameleon Tank. The East Moreland Army has been considering a new breed of tank for some time and SmartWar appear to be ahead of Henley, the nations traditional supplier of tanks, with their current offering for the contract. The tank has some very unique features. It's armour is made up of hundreds of tiles which can easily be replaced if damaged in battle. Each panel also contains a heating and cooling element and is attached to a central computer. This gives the tank the possibility of changing it's appearence to infared devices. CEO of SmartWar James Connolly said, "As most modern targetting, identification and observation equipment works in the IR spectrum, our onboard cameras can monitor the surroundings and then tell each panel to change temperature to blend in, add to that an on-board library of signatures we can theoretically make the tank appear like a car. " The company then released a video of the tank doing exactly that. The tanks body is also designed to try and limit RADAR identification and upgrades are planned to allow it to be more RADAR absorbent making it more of a stealth tank. The tank also features an unmanned turret which is modular in design allowing quicker turn around for maintenance and repair. The Chameloen was designed to field a 105mm or 120mm smoothbore cannon, that will be capable of firing sabot, high explosive, or guided missile rounds, this will be complimented with a 7.62mm coaxial gun internally mounted turret right next to the main gun, in a similar configuration to the Abrams, as well as a detachable remotely controlled 7.62 or 50 caliber independent gun turret system. Mr.Connolly said, "We are very excited by this project and the support we have received so far from our nations military, we look forward to feedback from their trials and hope to see it in service soon. We haven't ruled out exports of the tank but that depends on licencing from our government." |

[/centerrr]![]() MEMORABLE DAY AT GAMES East Moreland remained at the head of the medal table after Day 15 of competition. The day saw Archduchess Sophie improve on her pair of Silver medals in the cross country by taking Gold by around half a second from the competitor from Farhland in the 3000m steeplechase. Soon after one of rugby's biggest rivalries was resumed when East Moreland defeated Dijel 24-21 in the rugby sevens, while the womens team narrowly missed out on a Bronze after a defeat to Achkaerin. The Archduchess has been competing in steeplechases as a means of improving her speed over the cross country events, however she has shown some talent for the event and her coaches faith in placing her in the team for the IO Games competition was well justified. The Princess set the pace for much of the event before kicking for home with two jumps remaining. Jack Carter her coach said "Sophie has done incredibly well during these games, what we thought would merely be a learning experience has made the world sit up and take notice that she has an exceedingly high amount of talent. She needs to however keep improving, she'd now going to have a massive bullseye on her back in every competition she enters." Meanwhile over at King Robert Arena, Chris Robinshaw's Team HoneyBadger defeated the nations rival Dijel by just 3 points, the game was full of action as both teams scored plenty of tries. "The fans of sevens expect action and they certainly got it" Robinshaw, the team captain said, "We're now looking forward to renewing this kind of action in the Confederation's Cup, rivalries like this can only be good for the sport." ![]() PRINCE CASPIAN RUSHED TO HOSPITAL Last night Prince Caspian was rushed to the Northfort Royal Infirmary. The 8 month of old Prince was suffering from breathing problems and was taken by members of the royal security detail who raced through the city streets. Dr.Felicia Henry, the royal families physician later spoke to the press on the steps of the hospital. "Prince Caspian is now in a stable condition and is not in any danger. As a consequence of his pre-existing condition he occasionally has build ups of fluid on his chest and this needs to be mobilised from time to time. This time there was a sudden build up that we have not witnessed happen before and as a result his left lung wasn't inflating fully causing some discomfort. The wonderful staff here have carried out a minor procedure to ensure the lung can fully inflate and now it is important that he be allowed to recover in peace." Two hours after the statement the royal families official Twitter released a photo of the sleeping Prince with the words "Thank you for all the prayers". Experts on Hunter's Syndrome say that events like these are likely to be a regular occurrence in the Prince's life especially as tissues in the throat thicken. |

[/centerrr]![]() QUEEN ON MEND? Queen Matilda was today seen in public for the first time without her walking stick since the birth of the Royal twins. Following giving birth to Prince Caspian and Princess Rhiannon the Queen suffered a major loss of blood that saw her brain lack oxygen for some time. In the past it had been confirmed that this has lead to her losing some mobility in her left side and also some short term to long term memory issues. Today however the Queen and her husband where spotted strolling from a small beach front cafe in Portworth back to the Queen's old apartment in the city, the journey was only around four hundred meters but the lack of a walking stick has given many reason to believe the Queen is on the mend. The couple had been out visiting some of the Queen's former University friends in the city when they unexpectedly stopped at a local cafe for a bite to eat. Following coffee and cake the royal twins where placed back in vehicles and driven home while the King and Queen strolled the short distance back. The pair refused to pose for photographs as they customarily have done on many other sightings in public. The King did however respond to photographers requesting them to stop for a photo by saying "Hey...we're on a roll here, can't stop it now" The pair are thought to be spending the week in Portworth along with the twins in order to be close to the Queens family while Caspian recovers from a medical scare several days ago. COOPE GETS NEW OWNER ![]() The royal family made a traditional hand over prior to the King departing for Portworth. In 1958 King David II of East Moreland purchased a then brand new Mini Cooper car for his eldest daughter, the future Queen Philippa I, the car has been in the royal family ever since. Traditionally the car has been in the possession of the last member of the royal family to pass their driving test and with Archduchess Sophie Harrison-Ironside passing her test yesterday the car has a new owner. The car has been in the possession of three monarchs of East Moreland and in total 13 members of the Ironside family have owned the car. High Priestess Joanna, the birth mother of the Archduchess was asked about the tradition. "It's just a bit of fun, all of us have owned him at some point and then had to save up and buy our first car, our parents made sure we knew the value of money and our cars, Sophie will be no different. Coope has many good years left and I'm sure that my nephew and niece will be getting passed the keys at some point." Meanwhile Princess Freya, about to embark on several diplomatic visits jokingly added, "It was a sad day handing over the keys, I've had Coope many years and he's always made me smile, although I do prefer my motorbike. Promise not to tell Coope." In some circles the car is a bit of a celebrity. Mini Owners Club President Stephen Goodfellow said, "Coope is a bit of an icon in our community, he's kind of the King of the Mini's, I've owned Mini's all my life and I know the Archduchess is going to have many years of fond memories with that car." JUSTICE PARTY AHEAD IN FIRST OPINION POLL ![]() With the elections just over 90 days away the first opinion poll places the newly formed Justice Party under their leader Sally Probert well in the lead. The results are listed below. National Traditionalist Party:- 19% Liberal Party:-14% Justice Party:- 41% Civic Democrat Party:- 4% People's Party:- 10% Workers Party:- 6% Conservative Party:- 6% Their leader Sally Probert was pleased with initial polling, "It's early days and a lot can change. I think what this poll clearly shows however is that people believe that under the current system of government we've gone soft on major crime. Borlanders being let off for their crimes because we are more concerned with looking good to nations like Rokkenjima and the CIS, the people of East Moreland want swift and decisive justice and we will deliver that if elected." The party stand on a platform of civic duty and responsibility with those who Mrs. Probert describes as "Shirking or neglecting" this being made to "pay the price." he party advocated a return of the penal Legion, disbanded after the Regency Crisis, automatic death penalty for Borlanders convicted of terror offences, removal of the Kings power to overturn these death sentences and people causing "self inflicted illnesses" through things such as smoking, drinking and over eating to be made to pay for medical care. |

![]() ![]() THE WHO CLOSE IO GAMES IN STYLE While the closing message of the East Moreland hosted IO Games was about how King David III hoped the games would encourage more youngsters to take up competitive sport it was left to one of the oldest rock bands on Mundus to bring down the curtain. Following 18 days of sporting action East Moreland came out on top of the medal table something Team EM Captain John Cooper said was "An amazing achievement but not surprising, the home nation always has a massive advantage in games like this, the crowd tend to be dominated by locals, its easier for home athletes to acclimatise and often they've competed hundreds of times in the arenas" The highlight of the games for East Moreland had to be the achievements of two of the female athletes, swimmer Daisy Greechan added to her two previous IO Games medals with three more making her the nations most successful IO Games competitor. The 19 year old is currently serving in the Navy as a rescue diver and is fast becoming a national icon. "No matter how many more games I go to I think this will always remain my favourite. To have won medals in front of a home crowd is a moment that will always live in my mind. On those early morning swims it'll be the mental image of those crowds that make me keep going." It is expected that Daisy will now be joining her comrades on-board REMNS Portworth currently on duty in the Illumic Channel supporting operations in Seaforth. Meanwhile the 17 year old Archduchess gave the closing speech after her uncle the King handed over to her. The young runner won 2 silver and one gold medal, in her speech she spoke of how she believed the games had brought people together and hoped politicians could learn lessons from the way athletes co-existed during the games. At the conclusion she introduced The Who before joining the rest of the athletes to party into the early hours. HUGO MCGREGOR DEMANDS CIS REFERENDUM ![]() The former Colonel of the 1st Light Scouts, turned politican Hugo MacGregor announced his party would demand a referendum on the continued membership of the CIS as the price for his parties support in a coalition. The former military man formed the People's Party six months ago with the ambition of giving the oridnary citizen more rights and a louder voice in the running of their country. If elected he would introduce a system of direct democracy similar to that seen in the Union of Nordic People, as well as reduce some of the power of the monarchy. His most surprising policy however is his view on the CIS. "I believe the CIS is facing many issues, as we've seen the creation of regional organisations, such as the AKO and Illumic Councils, these better serve our nations interests, our seperate treaty with Seaforth and Rokkenjima is I believe far more useful to the nation than the CIS. In fact if we look at what the CIS has done for East Moreland it is mainly fill funeral urns with the ashes of young men and women. We were the spearhead of the 2nd Safraen Crisis, and now again as we go into Seaforth, yet in return we get very little back. The CIS either needs to offer more or we need to leave, however as a party that believes firmly that the final say in all matters should go to the people I will put aside my own personal feelings and open a debate on the matter followed by a referendum." |

![]() ![]() FOUR ARRESTED FOR "DAY OF TERROR" This morning teams of Red Legionnaires raided two farms on the outskirts of Keepton. One of the farms was found abandoned but large quantaties of material suitable for making improvised mortars were found. Meanwhile some 10km further North a 2nd raid at another isolated farm saw four suspected Borlander's arrested and two more killed during a brief fire fight. Several commercially brought Drones were also discovered at the 2nd address. The arrests mark the first to be made in East Moreland following the internationally co-ordinated Day of Terror. It is suspected the men arrested where involved in either the mortar attack on Falkenrith Lodge or the drone bombs used on the Rokkenjima embassy in Northfort. The men were named as Nathanial Clyne (aged 22), Frank Gary (aged 23), Robert Moss (aged 38) and Archie Moss (aged 40). All four men were taken to various military installations around the nation for further questioning. It is expected charges will be levelled within the next 24 hours with the men making their first court appearances soon after. The trial of Graham Barrett, the infamous Borlander Pirate Radio Operator began today in Northfort. The 20 year old known as "The Voice of Borland" is charged with several charges including "Conspiracy to Murder", "Illegal Communications" and "Incitement to commit acts of Terror". The court case is expected to be brief with a potential death sentence hanging over the accused. |

The King attended the organisations annual "Family Day" along with Prince Caspian. MPS was set up in 2001 to provide a wide range of support to both those suffering from the wide range of genetic conditions and their families. The organisation also fund research into exploring treatments for the conditions. MPS conditions are ones in which certain enzymes within the body are either absent of malfunctioning. Prince Caspian suffers from Hunter's Syndrome a condition which prevents the body creating enzymes that help process Proteins leading to stunted development. The King attended the meeting held at the organisations HQ in Northfort where he attended talks about the conditions, took part in a parent/child swimming session, followed by a BBQ. The King spoke briefly with the charities media agents stating "If I'm honest I'd never heard of MPS before my son was daignosed, I can now understand the massive impact the diagnosis can have on a whole family and for quiet some time it had got me depressed thinking of what it would be like for Capian growing up. Today though I've had the chance to meet some very remarkable young men and women who have learned to lead full and active lives with the conditions they face." 12 year old Stephen Baker was one one of the children who attends the centre. "MPS have been very helpful to me and my family. I have friends here who understand what I'm going through and look out for me. It was great seeing the King today, I hope his son gets as much fun here as I've had." MPS Chairwoman Debbie Jackson believes this could help the organisation in the long term, "MPS receives very little funding, it's so rare many drug and medical companies see it as pointless, I believe however that if we have the King supporting us we can shed a light on the organisation and maybe one day find that all important cure." CHIEF COUNCILLOR JOINS FLASH PROTEST AT ROYAL UNIVERSITY OF NORTHFORT Early this morning it was announced that Professor Marcus Merriman of the Royal University of Northfort was being made redundant by the University he has taught at for the past 35 years. Just two weeks after celebrating his 70th birthday Dr.Merriman, the nations representative to CETO was informed of the decision by the University Dean. Once word reached the students of the History faculty around 45 students walked out of classes and started protesting. They were soon joined by former students of the Professor including Chief Councillor Timothy Carpenter. University Dean Simon Cummins stated, "Dr.Merriman has given exceptional service to the University, however he is now getting old and his style of teaching, which has always been unorthadox, is today seen as outdated and after recent quality assurance programmes highlighted short comings in his work we had little choice, we had hoped he could leave quietly and enjoy a long deserved retirement." Meanwhile Student Union President Callum Short stated, "Dr.Merriman isn't just a lecturer, he is the embodiment of the University, his passion for his subject is unmatched and the fact that he see's us not just as someone who needs to pass an exam but people who have potential to do great things makes him the best tutor in this place." Chief Councillor Carpenter joined the protest stating "When I was direction-less in life it was Dr.Merriman who gave me a purpose in life, he's an inspiration to hundreds of students who have been through his classes, you need only look at his alumni and the great things they've done, members of the Council's , military leaders, business inovators, even the King attended his classes. This man was one of the leading lights in CETO and you can't cast that aside." Less than two hours after the announcement was made one former student, current CEO of SmartWar Martin Dawson had started a crowd funding website in order to create a new University called the "Dr.Merriman Academy", the amount raised already stands at EM£ 180,000. Professor Merriman has declined to comment. |

![]() ![]() OSMANTECH REVEAL MICRONEEDLE PILL OsmanTech today revealed their latest medical innovation, referred to as the "Microneedle Pill". The drug delivery capsule is capable of injecting drugs for various conditions directly into the stomach lining after the pill is swallowed. The capsule contains a single dose of the drug and is coated in a material which disolves inside the stomach exposing a series of tiny needles which can inject directly into the stomach lining. The capsule then continues to dissolve before being expelled from the digestive track naturally. OsmanTech founder and CEO Lord Lucas Osman helped develop the new delivery method. "Many people if given a choice would prefer to take a pill daily than inject themselves externally into their stomach. This is particularly a problem in children who can often find the process of self administering injections difficult. This eliminates the need for this as they can now simply swallow a pill." The new capsule has been tested by vets to deliver antibiotics. "We carried out extensive tests and discovered that a capsule of 2 centimetres length and 1 centimetre in diameter, worked perfectly fine in primates at Northfort Zoo." Lord Osman also explained how the capsule's tiny needles cause no pain as the protective coat is dissolved and only then can they inject and as the GI track. "We begin human tests this week with several voulenteers with a range of conditions ranging from diabetics, to Crohn’s disease taking the capsules daily for a month. After that we'll review and hopefully the government will green light the use nationwide." Lord Osman said optimistically. "We are already working on other methods of delivery using similar methods to construct a slow release method for other conditions." The medical arm of OsmanTech netted profits of 2.09 billion East Moreland Pounds in the last year and Lord Osman believes this new development could help increase that. "We have a commitment to help fund anti-retroviral drugs for some of the worlds poorest nations and we also intend to establish a specialist Medical University soon as a Mundus wide centre of excellence. We have always prided ourselves on using the companies profits ethically and I see no reason why that can't continue." KING CREATES ROYAL MERRIMAN UNIVERSITY ![]() King David today entered the arguement over the removal of Dr.Merriman from duties at Royal Northfort University. The King spent three years studing at East Moreland's oldest University and attended many of Dr.Merriman's lectures, previously the King has said, "Dr. Merriman opened my mind to many different ways of thinking about the world, he always challenged us to learn not just of History but of the world around us, in a way we can say his teaching and my father's vision created a desire to end the Kingdom's isolationism." As students continued protests the King presented Chief Councillor Timothy Carpenter, another student of Dr.Merriman's, a Royal charter creating a new University to be named the Royal Merriman University. The document also granted the new University the land of Rough Hill Folly a 17th century manor house that belonged to the royal family. The King gave a statement to the press following the announcement in which he said, "Education has to be the corner stone of our nation. I'm a firm believer that knowledge is power and our nations education system can not afford to lose the talents of Dr.Merriman, a man who has dedicated his life to encouraging the pursuit of knowledge. This small university will be a hub of education excellence in Humanities subjects and I have appointed several patrons to oversee its creation, while I can not directly instruct them who to appoint I truly hope they make Dr.Merriman the Universities first dean. Who know's if he'll have me perhaps I may even study my Masters there." The King has long had the desire to eventually study a PhD in History. |

![]() ![]() BIG PLANS FOR FEAST OF HELUS As the nations largest religious holiday looms preparations across the Kingdom, and the rest of Mundus has begun. The Feast of Helus celebrates the God's victories over the Underlords, while commemorating Raimond Unasson laying down his life to protect the weak during this battle. Festivities will begin at midnight tonight with the High Priestess extinguishing the candle that symbolises Unasson's life, she will immediately light a new one which will burn until the next feast, thus symbolising his sacrifice not being forgot. Similar ceremonies will happen in Temples across Mundus. The royal family will make several visits around the city in the morning and attend the street parades before spending the afternoon at the palace for the traditional feast. In the evening the King will light a traditional bonfire at Helus Barrow, the place that scripture states the god Helus ascended to the heavens following the great battle. There will then follow a large open air party in the park surronding the Barrow. Internationally the Cult has grown as over the last twelve months temples have sprung up in Achkaerin, the UAE, the UNP, Rokkenjima and Supreme Sovereignty. It is expected large celebrations will take place at these Temples as they celebrate their first Feast of Helus. The High Priestess Joanna Ironside has stated her desire to ensure that followers of the Cult can worship together in a proper temple, regardless of where in the world they are. In the past this responsibility has fallen to embassy staff and this will continue in nations such as Dartfordia and many others. Ambassador to Dartfordia Sir Graham Allan said "We look forward to these festivals every year, it helps us remember home and gives us an opportunity to welcome our hosts into our home and share with them our culture and hopefully some good food. As usual we'll be sending a plate of goodies to the royal family here and Head's of State in other nations." The King will also give his annual speech in which it is expected that he will announce plans to begin retaking the reigns of power. The royal children who turn one in a few days will also experience their first Feast of Helus, as Queen Matilda left Valeview Primary School, where she is once again helping with ecological projects, she said "Rhiannon and Caspian probably won't be too aware of what's happening but we plan on taking them to see the fireworks and parades, its very important they learn about the importance of these events in our nation's heritage and that can't start soon enough." |

![]() ![]() McGREGOR CALLS FOR SUCCESSION CLARIFICATION In the Representative Council today Mr.Hugo McGregor, leader of the People's Party called for the King to clarify the situation regarding the succession of the crown. During a debate on the ending of the Regency Mr.McGregor said, "We are fortunate at the moment to have a King who has proven himself to be an able statesman and when the need has arisen his sister Princess Freya has been a more than capable caretaker. However if we fast forward to the day we lose these members of the royal family we need to ensure the Kingdom is in safe hands. Sadly we have a heir to the throne who I believe will not prove capable of taking the reigns of power on medical grounds. I believe therefore it is the duty of King David to settle the matter on the issue of the succession sooner rather than later. It is my belief that he should announce that Princess Rhiannon is his heir and that Prince Caspian should sadly be removed from the line of succession." The comments where meet with a hostile reception amongst fellow Councillors, Thomas Moore, leader of the Traditionalist Party said "I believe everything will be done by His Majesty to ensure the future stability of this Kingdom, he already did that creating our national constitution and I have no doubt that document provides the nation the means of ensuring the monarch is an effective member of the government." Northfort New's legal expert Simon Curruthers however believes that McGregor's comments are just "Political point scoring. He has vowed to reduce the power of the monarchy and I believe this move is designed to put the King between a rock and a hard place close to the elections. My understanding of the Inheritance of the Throne Act is that Article 1.5 which says "if the Monarch is classed as being mentally unfit for rule by two doctors and then confirmed again 14 days later a motion will be placed before the Executive and Representative Councils calling for Article 2 to come into effect. A 3/4 majority of both Councils will be required." gives the Kingdom the security to ensure that a monarch is capable of taking the throne and its powers." Dr.Felicia Henry, the royal physician stated "I sadly believe we are talking about an issue that will never come to light, people diagnosed with Hunter's Syndrome rarely reach adulthood and as the Constitution states a person must be 21 before inheriting the throne and have completed some form of national service I sadly believe that Caspian will not fulfil these criteria." The King has so far declined to comment. |

![]() ![]() FAST FRIGATE RADAR SUCCESS During tests in the Mhorish Sea the new designs "Principal Anti Air Missile System (PAAMS)" successfully tracked and fired upon 16 targets simultaneously. During a battery of tests the system also showed the capability of tracking 1,000 targets at the same time. In a final test the system successfully shot and downed a drone target simulating a sea-skimming supersonic anti-ship cruise missile traveling at speeds Mach 2.5 (3000 km/h) while at an altitude of less than 5 metres. East Moreland Naval spokesman, Admiral Charles Worthy said, "The PAAMS system we've seen today is certainly impressive, I believe that defensive capability, paired with the high speed, modular system and automated systems we have on our hands an extremely effective weapons platform." Members of the Navy from Seaforth, Rokkenjima, Dartfordia, Achkaerin and Quinntopia also witnessed the trial which marks one of the final ones before nations begin modular construction. It is expected that the East Moreland version will feature modules designed to maintain the vessels speed and allow for it to support amphibious assault operations. It is expected that combat trials will begin in around six months. ![]() ROYAL MERRIMAN UNIVERSITY GETS FIRST TWO STUDENTS With students due to arrive in the summer the Royal Merriman University has accepted its first two students. King David III will be undertaking a Part time Master's degree in History over four years, while his niece the Archduchess Sophie Harrison-Ironside will study modules from the BA(Hons) in CETO Studies there before hopefully spending a year studying abroad. The King completed part of his studies with Dr.Merriman at the Royal Northfort University, an institute that recently terminated the Professor's contract. Royal Media Spokesman Malcolm Tucker informed the press of the King's decision during the weekly press briefing at the Palace by saying, "The King's love of history is well documented and he enjoyed his time at University, clearly he doesn't have the time to be a full time student but he spends much of his down time reading history books so the odd essay shouldn't be too hard to fit in." Meanwhile the Archduchess is said to have made the decision based on "my uncle's stories of the way. Dr.Merriman inspired his students and continues to do so long after they have graduated." ![]() MORELANDER ARRESTED OVER SHORTS A 28 year old woman faces a fine of around £EM 1,000 and 6 months in prison for wearing a pair of denim shorts. Bethany Reynold moved to the Amcin Emirates around two months ago and was arrested by that nations police responsible for maintaining women dressing in a certain way. The arrest has caused controversy in East Moreland where relations with the UAE are already at a low. Minister of Justice Alex Newman addressed the matter on his way into the Ministerial Wing of the Palace this morning. "It is the duty of every person to comply with the laws of the nation in which they reside, however the policing of how people dress is clearly ridiculous, it wasn't as though this lady was wandering around naked. In my view a crime is something that causes loss, injury or harm , Miss Reynold did neither of those things so to now face the prospect of several months in prison is ridiculous." Meanwhile Foreign Minister Robert Kennedy was less tactful, "Frankly what can one expect from the UAE, first they believe they can tell East Moreland where it can and can't go in it's own continent, an act for which all we have had is one pathetic press statement of an apology, now they tell people how they can dress. We will clearly be doing all we can to aid Miss Reynold." It is believed that moves will be put in place to get the fine paid and Miss Reynold returned home. A statement from the Foreign Office addressed the need for understanding local laws and customs, "It is the responsibility of travellers to ensure they are familiar with all local laws to ensure incidents like this do not happen, however we would expect a more educational rather than draconian response from local police." |

![]() ![]() ALPINE CADRE TO BE HONOURED The Ministry of Defence today that East Moreland's Alpine Cadre, a specialist mountain and artic warfare regiment will be renamed the Royal Alpine Cadre. The decision comes as the regiment celebrated its 200th Anniversay. Originally founded as the Alpine Militia in 1815 the regiment has been involved in every major conflict East Moreland has found itself involved in. The regiment has also see three King's serve in it's ranks. King John I was the first to join when he was a 18 year old Prince, his great grandson, King Sven served in the regiment and was then followed by his son, the current King. After completing University King David served in the Cadre and is currently classed as a reservist Major within the regiment. The Cadre is currently fighting in Seaforth yet current commanding officer Brigadier Frank Sealey said, "I am exceptionally proud to receive this honour on behalf of the Cadre, over two centuries the brave men and women of the white beret have defended the north of our nation, braved the field of battle wherever they have been called, and done so in a manner that Jerkar would be proud. To be able to consider ourselves part of the proud Regiments that hold the title Royal is the highest honour we could have received." It is believed that His Majesty King David III will present the men with a royal standard once they return from Seaforth. ![]() GRAHAM BARRETT FOUND GUILTY The 20 year old known as the "Voice of Borland" , Graham Barrett has been found guilty of Conspiracy to Murder , Illegal Communications and Incitement to commit acts of Terror. After the two month long case Barrett, who ran a pirate radio station which broadcast Borland Propaganda, was found guilty unanimously after just fifteen minutes. The council for the Defence had attempted to suggest that he was merely a misguided young man who broadcast music and at worst was guilty of making "jokes in poor taste". Meanwhile Alec Newman, Minister of Justice, said it is clear that Barrett is guilty of every single crime he was accused of, maybe even more, I hope this sends a message that no matter what role you play in the Borland movement we will track you down and you will face justice." The judge pronounced the sentence of life imprisonment despite calls from many for the death sentence, amongst those was Sally Probert, leader of the justice party, whose son was killed in the missile attack on Freestone several years ago. "It is vital families start to see real justice, we must start to see judges using the full force of the law on these terrorists and that means executing every Borlander found guilty." |

![]() ![]() PRINCESS FREYA HANDS BACK POWER Following serving 11 months as regent Princess Freya today signed a letter officially handing back the reigns of power to her brother King David III. The Princess assumed the Regency following the birth of Prince Caspian and Princess Rhiannon as her brother spent time with his ill wife, who at the time was critically ill. During her time as Regent the 29 year old Princess has overseen the restoration of relationships with Dartfordia following the High Rock incident and also brought about closer relationships with Cohdinha and MacThomais. Many political analysts have described her regency as being "efficient and steady." It is thought that the Princess will now return to her military duties while occasionally acting as a diplomat for the Kingdom. The Princess formally attended the Royal Council meeting alongside her brother as the pair signed the necessary letter confirming the Princess was standing down as regent "being reassured of the monarchs capabilities to resume his duties with due diligence". The Princess received a vote of thanks from the council for her stewardship before her brother announced that he would be conducting her into The Order of Royal Squires, making her the first Princess to ever be part of the 30 person order. The honour is given to those who have served the Kingdom and monarch honourably and places are limited to 30 members. The King then left on his first duties after re-assuming his full powers. The King is believed to have travelled to Dartfordia for talks with the Cross Straits Union about potential economic treaties. |

![]() ![]() FAST FRIGATE ONE BEGINS SEA TRIALS The multi-national development of a "Fast Frigate" class of ship enters the final stage before entering service. The first of the design to be completed has entered evaluation with the navies of the developing nations after a highly successful RADAR test a few weeks ago. The boat will undergo a range of tests with crews made up of members of the contributing navies, the final test will come in a weeks time when the vessel will be part of a simulated naval battle between elements of the Royal East Moreland Navy. It is thought that if everything is in order the vessels will be outfitted with their nations chosen modules and enter service soon after. The Royal East Moreland Navy is expected to order four of the vessels which are expected to be named after former member of the Court of Canley, East Moreland's highest chivalric order. MoD spokesman Admiral Kenzie stated, "This vessel not only marks an increase in our navies capabilities, but also marks a momentous moment in the relationship between the nations involved in it's construction. I personally look forward to working alongside the sailors from the other nations and seeing the real life capabilities of the fast frigate." WMO CAMERA TRAP PICKS UP STRANGE CREATURE ![]() A sensor operated camera near Roberton yesterday picked up images of some strange creature in a camera trap designed for monitoring Wild Boer movements. The image shows a large creature with shaggy white fur and vaguely humanoid features. In the 30 second long footage the creature appears to be following the stream uphill before stopping to inspect the remains of a mountain goat killed earlier by wolves before heading back the way it had come. Zoologist Malcolm Henderson from the University of Rockhampton said, " In all my years I haven't seen anything like this before, sadly I know what will happen, everyone will start shouting Yeti or Bigfoot, in reality I think we're probably looking at something like an escaped ape filmed at a weird angle or perhaps even a Bear. We'll be working with wildlife centres to see if they've had any lost animals recently. I like a good mystery and we'll be trying to find out what this was and solve this mystery." Meanwhile Liam Froggart from Rockhampton said "For centuries people have talked about seeing a strange mountain man wandering the hills, we've all heard stories of it's footprints but no one has ever captured one this clearly. The University can't deny it any longer, the Alpine Ghost is a real thing." Locals in the area have talked of the mythical beast as a story since 1703 when a local fiction writer wrote a story of the beast as part of a collection of short horror stories. FOREIGN MINISTER TALKS OF POSSIBLE ISSUES WITH DIJEL ![]() While East Moreland have always enjoyed close relationships with Dijel Foreign Minister Robert Kennedy says he believes the first challenge to that relationship could be on the horizon. Speaking to EMTV's royal and political correspondent Shelly Coe the Minister said. "Dijel has always been a nation we're proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with, our armed forces have fought well side by side under the CIS banner and I am happy to say despite a rugby rivalry we're going to come out on top in that their people seem to value the relationship as much as our own citizens. My concern though is two fold, we've seen in recent weeks Dijel becoming closer to the UAE, a nation we have a sour relationship with, while we would not dream of telling our close allies who they can and can not have friendship with we are clearly concerned that they would so willingly befriend a nation who so recently believed they had a right to tell us what we can and can't do in the Illumic. Now I am shocked to hear they are introducing a "decency laws". We find these to be laws that take away the rights of women, and seek to place controls on them. The law in the UAE states that women must cover their ankles and shoulders in certain areas, I hope the Dijel will think twice on this issue, as should they go down this route we would for example find it difficult to send our armed forces to Dijel. Our female soldiers regularly wear shorts and vests for PT, also the robes of Priestesses of Helus often involve the Priestess having bare shoulders, we would see any changes to this being a restriction on faith. I hope that Dijel avoids going down the route of limiting it's citizens rights as I believe Dijel to be a nation that has proudly fought to extend people's rights around Mundus and that is how I would prefer to have our close friend's reputation remain." |

![]() ![]() RADIO FREE SEAFORTH TO HEAD SOUTH Following news that Zachachevania has executed a large number of civilians heading for CIS partner Ndambia's boarder the King has authorised the Radio Free Seaforth vessel to once again be recommissioned. Formally known as the REMNS David the Poet, the 1980's electronic warfare ship was put out of service in 2006 and moved to Ostlake West where it was used as a training vessel. The ship was recommisioned after a quick refit to turn it into a mobile radio station when the Eugenics War was heating up. The vessel helped transmit non-Church approved messages deep into Seaforth and was manned by members of East Moreland's small Cyborg Legion, a specialist warfare unit of less than 500 personnel. The ship had only just returned to Ostlake when this incident occured and as many nations have discussed establishing news broadcasts the King decieded to return the ship to the same duty, now though still bearing the name Radio Free Seaforth the vessel will head towards Zachachevania where it is expected to join up with navies of several allies including CIS nations and Rokkenjima. It is also expected in the coming days that a fleet will venture south to stand on station in case of escalation towards Ndambia. It is expected that REMNS Tom Pickle will form part of this fleet marking it's first operational use outside of the Illumic. The amphibious warfare ship is the sister ship of the East Moreland flagship REMNS King Robert and is capable of lading almost 800 Marines unsupported. REMNS Dalek is also expected to be part of the operation as it has been on duty in the Mhorish Sea. ![]() FURTHER ALPINE GHOST SIGHTING For the second day running a remote camera in the Alps near Roberton has captured a strange creature on camera. This time the creature many are saying is the mythical "Alpine Ghost" was spotted on a remote camera trap some 20km west of the city, this is around 5km away from the sighting the previous day. This time the footage was captured at night as a shape seemed to run past the camera. University Zoologist Malcolm Henderson said "the chances of this being someone messing about in a suit is very remote, the location of these camera traps are kept confidential between the research team." The creature was described as "running almost upright, it's movement resembled that of a Gorilla running however the shape is far from that of any Gorilla." Police have contacted local wildlife centres in the area but none have reported having any animals escape or go missing. |

![]() ![]() PRINCESS FREYA TO BECOME A RED? It was announced today by the Ministry of Defence that Princess Freya, a serving Major in the 1st Light Scouts, has been accepted onto July's Red Legion selection course. The 31 week long selection course is considered by many to be the toughest military selection test on Mundus and is proceeded by a further 25 weeks of training and then a 12 month probation period. The Princess has served 10 years in the military and has seen combat in a number of theatres. A Ministry of Defence spokesman said "This is no publicity stunt, the Princess is a combat veteran and has proved herself an extremely capable solider and commander, her time during the first Safraen Crisis saw her work side by side with Red Legionnaires and reports appear to suggest she worked well with them." Should the Princess successfully complete the selection, training and probation period she will become the first female Legionnaire. The Legion has always been open to women yet none have successfully completed the three tier process, however several female's serve with the Legion as Auxillaries, highly trained soldiers carrying out support tasks for the Legion such as HQ Communications, air transport and logistics. The Princess talked about her future ambitions during an interview for Northfort News following her regency. "I'm extremely excited to get this opportunity, in my opinion the Red's are the best on Mundus and to even be given the chance to try and become one is something I'm extremely proud of. I understand how difficult it will be and how unlikely it is that I'll be successful but I've always wanted to test myself against the best." The Princess was then asked about whether she thought it should be easier for women to join the Red Legion, "Categorically no, the Red's are the best because they don't compromise, if we're not good enough then that's life. No barrier exists to women being able to join and to me that's fair enough. We see several nations around the world with much worse records in terms of equality for women and thankfully that's never been an issue in East Moreland, women stood shoulder to shoulder with men and Gods to fight the Underlords, women fought at Greenflowers and our greatest Morelander ever was determined to be Rhiannon the Fierce, that's a record of equality I'm very proud of our Kingdom for." When asked who she was referring to the Princess said, "I'm rather saddened to see a nation like the UAE enforcing laws on women's dress in the name of decency, it's like something we'd expect to see in the medieval period. Meanwhile the Slavic Federation pass laws taking away the most fundamental rights of women, to say a woman can fight and die for her nation but not select those who would send her to die is a disgrace. When I heard of the Slavic Federation freeing themselves from the yoke of the USR I hoped that the people there would see an improvement in their civil rights, sadly that is not the case." The Princess was finally asked about her views on the situation developing in Ndambia. "I commend Rokkenjima for seeking to aid a neighbour, I am surprised though, Ndambia are our CIS allies and they have so far kept us out of the loop, Dijel, Achkaerin and ourselves have always shown that we would back up our allies, Seaforth too, although their situation may prevent that this time. Seeing several hundred thousand Rokkenjiman reservist troops called up to help Ndambia while the CIS could have provided support does seem in my mind a slight knee jerk." The Princess is expected to spend the next few months preparing for her Red Legion selection as well as undertaking a short tour at Illumic East with comrades from the Light Scouts. |

EMTV INTERRUPTS REGULAR PROGRAMMES The camera shows the King sat at his desk at Northfort Palace. "Moments ago I received word from Red Legion teams at Ostlake that they have taken into custody Rebekah Barren, the so called wife of the terrorist Kyle Barren. This lady has not only claimed to be the Queen of our enemy she has killed tens of innocent Morelanders and members of the military. She has publicly bragged of her pride in commanding a group of terrorists. By capturing her we have shown that we have the capability, determination and resources to find Borlanders wherever they may hide. She is currently being taken to a secure location where she will be questioned, charged with murder, terrorism offenses and various other crimes. She will face a trial in a court of law and I suspect if found guilty the death penalty. No doubt her so called husband will make threats, attempt to scare us into submission so he can claim his mistress and unborn child. We will not bend to these when they undoubtedly come and the people of East Moreland have may oath that should she be found guilty I will not stand in the way of any death penalty that is sanctioned by a court of law. The Barrens have long plagued our nation and my family, by making herself a Queen of these people she approves of these crimes and deserves to pay whatever penalty my judges think appropriate. I would like to thank the members of our Intelligence Agency and Red Legion for their part in these operations. I have always been proud to command such remarkable and professional men and women. Tonight the nation owes them a large debt of gratitude and I am thankful that I can say despite the dangers no Moreland life was lost in this operation. Tonight they have sent a message to Kyle Barren that his days are numbered and if we can get his Rebekah it will only be a matter of time until we get him. I wish you all a pleasant evening, May The Gods Watch Over You and Your Family Sleep Sound." |

![]() ![]() KING HOSTS MPS EVENT & OUTLINES NEW POLICIES King David today opened up the grounds of Northfort Palace to the Mucopolysaccharidosis research and support charity MPS of which he has become Honorary President. The King's son Prince Caspian suffers from Hunter's syndrome, one of a range of conditions that falls into the family of Mucopolysaccharidosis, the King and the Prince have been regular attenders at the MPS organisations support centre where Caspian has been involved in many programmes to support him with his illness. The King hosted a garden party for members of the business community where he hoped to raise in excess of EM£ 4,000,000 for the charity. The King has recently donated an area of land outside Portworth to the charity which now plans on building a respite care centre. MPS Chairwoman Debbie Jackson spoke of the plans for the centre. "Caring for children, and adults with these conditions can be very tiring for parents, we hope this centre will be a place where children can come, have fun, learn and meet people with similar issues to themselves. We've found in the past people can be cruel to these children and MPS children suffer a much higher occurrence of bullying while at school, a centre like this could be a place of stability and calm for them while at the same time giving parents time to themselves." During the garden party the King find time to speak to the Northfort News about policies for the upcoming year. "Clearly we have a very solid foundation to work from here in East Moreland, our economy is strong, our unemployment rate low and our record on human rights is excellent, however that doesn't mean we can't do more. I intend over the next 12 months to build of Chief Councillor Carpenter's policies of focusing on improving opportunities for young people. We need to instill in them a desire to achieve, after all they will be the ones that carry on the nations greatness. We will be creating government scholarships for the top fifty students in the final year of high school in Maths, Science, Morelandish, Humanities and Computer Science, these students will each recieve £EM 10,000 to help them fund places at University. We will also create a system of entrepreneurship clubs, a place young people with business ideas can go, get funding and support from established business leaders to put their ideas into practice. Away from the economy I intend to place an emphasis on continuing to keep our traditions and culture alive. Our society is very moralistic based on our old Code of Canley. We intend to introduce measures to ensure the sexualisation of the young does not occur. I'm frankly terrfied, as a father I see young girls at the age of six being able to buy stuffed bra's, t-shirts with slogans such as "Future Trophy Wife" and other such things on. I'm dreading the day Rhiannon starts seeing them. Our children should be exactly that, children. We intend to bring in legislation ensuring children are less likely to see images of highly sexualised behaviour in things such as music videos. We won't however be following the UAE's ridiculous lead. It is expected that the King will present these bills to Council for discussion in the coming weeks. ARCHDUCHESS TO BE ON REALITY TV ![]() EMTV announced today that they had persuaded Archduchess Sophie Harrison-Ironside to take part in their annual "Superstars" sports contest. The show features sporting stars of East Moreland competing in a wide variety of events including cross-country running, swimming, speed skating, cycling, rowing and the dreaded gym test (one minute of squat thrusts followed by one minute of bar dips). The Archduchess proved her sporting credentials by winning the East Moreland Junior Cross Country Championship before winning Two Silvers and a Gold at the Independent Order Games. Other contestants include Daisy Greechan, Martin Jonson, Simon Coleman and Ben Swift, all of whom have been in secret training for two weeks. Contestants can not compete in events they are classed as specialists in and act as coaches to those taking part. The Archduchess has been working with East Moreland Speed Skater Colin Yates who believes he may have discovered a sporting gem. "Sophie works incredibly hard in training, her work ethic is second to none, she's taken to the skating with ease and I suspect with some gentle arm twisting, if security let me, we could see her make a stab at competing in this year's East Moreland Speed Skating Championships, I'd certainly expect to see her win the Superstars version of the event." |

![]() ![]() KINGS ANGER AT UAE "INCONSISTENCY" Following the arrest of East Morelander Bethany Reynold in the UAE some weeks ago the King has spoke at his frustration, "Some weeks ago Bethany was arrested over her shorts shortly after we had a police official say "it is a universal law. Amzaar teaches modesty and conservatism for women and it applies to Morelander, Rokkenjiman and Amcin. They are all treated in the same manner and you cannot be surprised that if you break the law, you have to pay for it." It would however appear this is not the case, as if your a Rokkenjiman Empress the leader of the UAE can forget all about the universal law and will personally greet you from your plane. We see our ordinary citizens fined and languishing in a UAE jail, meanwhile an Empress arrives wearing a not to disimilar garment and the Emir is happy to sit for diplomatic talks with her, obviously his morals aren't as important as the Police there would think. The UAE is a nation that doesn't hold to anything it says. We've seen them ignore our friendship which was secured with treaties, and now their very leader is happy to ignore his nations own laws." Empress Beatrice Anselmo is currently in the UAE for diplomatic talks and caused controversey in the UAE with her own atire. King David added, "The Empresses dress sense may be less than conventional for diplomats I agree, however that is no reason for the disgusting way the media in the UAE have treated her, anyone who has worked with her or actually follows real world news and not some Zachachevania rag knows she is a woman of great integrity and honour. If Rhiannon were to grow up to have just half the qualities of the Empress I'd be thrilled because I know East Moreland would be in safe hands." When asked what the future holds for UAE/East Moreland relations the King said, "I'm not hopeful, its been some time since the Illumic Crisis which saw them literally order us to stay out of our own backyard. Since then despite my sister leaving the door open for restoration we have had zero response and then this incident. We are a nation that value deeds not words and frankly inconsistency in the way you treat people is not a way to endear yourself with the worlds population." |

![]() ![]() REBEKAH BARREN SENTENCED TO DEATH One of the two so called Queen's of Borland, Rebekah Barren was today found guilty at Northfort Crown Court and was sentenced to be executed. The execution will take place within 48 hours unless Barren files an appeal which would, if accepted see her sentence carried out 48hours after the conclusion of that, assuming the sentence stands. There have been no exeuctions in East Moreland in over fifty years, the previous death sentence issued to James Clusky being commuted to life imprisonment by King David. It is however highly unlikely the King will intervene in this case as he stated prior to the case commencing that he stated "the people of East Moreland have may oath that should she be found guilty I will not stand in the way of any death penalty that is sanctioned by a court of law." The execution however could be postponed as the "Queen" is currently around six months pregnant, this has sparked much internet debate about the sentence. One website had comments made calling for the 48 hour rule to be put aside and the sentence carried out once the child was born. This is a view shared by Priestess Sarah Miller who is a member of the youth rights charity "Children First". On her internet blog she said "It would be wrong to punish the child for the mothers evil. Barren is no longer a threat, she's behind bars, guarded and can't harm anyone, what damage would be done waiting three months." A similar view was echoed by Hugo McGregor of the People's Party who wrote on his own parties website, "I'm no doctor but you hear all the time of children being born very prematurely, lets cut the thing out of her and string her up, she deserves no sympathy and no pity, I'm pretty sure had the Borlanders got their hands on a pregnant Queen Matilda they'd not be having this debate, nor should we." Sally Probert however of the Justice Party was much more unsympathetic. "The child is a Barren, it has Barren's blood flowing through every inch of its veins, our nation must not rest until every Barren, every Borlander and every Borland apologist is done. The child would be a rallying point for their cause, kill the child, kill the cause." With no precedent to base a decision on it is expected that Mr.Harrison, the barrister who conducted the defence, will file an appeal on behalf of the unborn child, this is likely to trigger another case that could well rumble on for months making the outcome mute. Another issue that has been raised is East Moreland's signing of the Mundus Convention on Universal Rights. Article 2 enshrines the Right to Life by saying "No one shall be deprived of his life intentionally save in the execution of a sentence of a court" , some would argue that this may well mean the child would be considered to have not been sentenced so should be saved, others meanwhile say the child is not yet classed as living so the Article does not apply. It is expected that the debate will be a key part of today's Councillor's Question Time with Tim Carpenter. |
