![]() Welcome to all within the empire and a special welcome to those from across the region who are tuning in for the first time. Crisis Control Unit Launched ![]() Today the Senate of the Holy Achkaerin Empire achieved Royal approval for the newly proposed Crisis Control Unit. The unit is a new state service designed to handle various crisis scenario's. The seal of approval was stamped on the legislation at 11am this morning. Rion Ayanami, 24, (pictured above) has been named as the Crisis Controller. The former Justicar will head up units of specialised personnel in humanitarian and rescue operations. Upon examination of the constitution that governs the unit it appears that unless it is a military situation the Crisis Control Unit has overriding authority in the field, in fact it would appear that the only people the unit cannot pull rank on are the Senate, the Royal Court, the Round Table Conference, Military when situation is dependent, Emperor and heir to the throne. ![]() ![]() EMPEROR PETER SPEAKS OUT ON HELGARA CONFLICT Following major changes in the way the Helgara crisis has developed against how many thought it would develop, Emperor Peter has today issued a statement:
So what does this tell us about the situation? Well the use of napalm by Zachachevanian forces has most certainly got the attention of the international community with Achkaerin joining East Moreland and Rokkenjima in condemning the use of those weapons. Action on this by the CTO is expected in the coming days once the election cycle there is done and there are rumors that Achkaerin intends to work with Rokkenjima to draft a submission on this to the Security Council, though many will hope to avoid a repeat of the CTOMM resolution debacle. Meanwhile President Solon of Sparta is probably feeling totally vindicated right about now while the Spartan Senate has egg on its face. Either way the use of napalm, an indiscriminate weapon, has brought the international community into the 'game', maybe a little late but the important thing is that there is now sufficient attention for pressure to be applied. ![]() ARCTIC FOX SIGN OFF WITH DOUBLE GOLD ![]() ![]() Achkaerin's curling teams celebrate their victories The final day in Krokom, and what a day it was. Drama right until the very end with the home fans hopes of taking the top spot on the medal table dashed by the country they gained independence from as Nya Aland's men lost their gold medal match in the ice hockey to the UNP in over time. Things were more straightforward on the women's side as Seaforth annihilated the UNP to take the gold, while in the women's bronze medal match Achkaerin's women poured further misery onto the home crowd by winning 4-3 against Nya Aland. But it was over at the curling where Achkaerin's real drama was to unfold- Kevin Houghton led the men's team out first and they did precisely what they needed to do, they played a very professional textbook game against East Moreland, keeping it tight but also scoring heavily when the chances arose, the result? Achkaerin won 9-5 taking the gold medal. As for the women well they had it tougher in a real nail biter against Sverige but when they had the hammer in the eighth end at 6-6 the skip Melanie Stewart showed her mettle and taking her situation style approach to the fore she decided to blank both the eighth and the ninth ends in order to have the last stone in the last end, effectively meaning that she had control of the gold medal's destination so when the time came she played her shot and her team mates swept it home to win the gold 7-6. Both golds meant that Achkaerin slipped past East Moreland to take third place on the final medal table, a great finishing position made all the sweeter as the team exceeded both their overall medal target but also their gold medal target. ![]() ![]() CROWN PRINCESS NOMINATED IN ELECTIONS ![]() In a major surprise, the Imperial Senate today voted to nominate Crown Princess Serenity Azurewind for the position of Secretary-General of the CTO. The position presently held by Charles Foster Ofdensen of Rokkenjima is the leadership position within the organisation a role previously held by Tim Carpenter of East Moreland. Consul Michael Williams explained the reason for the nomination stating: "In recent weeks and months the Crown Princess has demonstrated her leadership qualities and diplomatic abilities, she has a fantastic success rate and most significantly more than enough diplomatic experience on the international stage having been a major negotiating presence at several major treaty meetings including the CETO treaty, MCUR and the Commonwealth Treaty itself. Practically every person who has more experience in the area at this point is a Head of State. Unless we're mistaken she's also the only person to sit across the table from Zachachevania's President Fetu and put him in his place, which is what happened at the Ardian Diplomatic Convention. She's more than capable of doing the job and in fairness she's earned the chance, it would be wrong of us not to nominate her considering all of this, we have of course to ensure the integrity of the CTO Secretariat placed conditions on the nomination." The Consul went on to explain that in the event of the Crown Princess becoming the Secretary General that her commission of Lt Commander in the Imperial Navy would be conditionally resigned meaning that for the duration of her term in office she would not be considered to be a member of the Imperial Navy she would therefore be free of the duties, responsibilities and implications of the position, it's widely expected that after the term ended she'd get the position back but the significant point is that she would not be a member of the Achkaerin armed forces whilst in office. As for the Crown Princess's governmental responsibilities those would be taken up by her brother Prince Simon. When asked for comment the Crown Princess gave the following statement: "It's a surprise to be nominated for such a position as this, to hold the position would be an honor. Do I have a plan for a term in office if elected? Well not one with the specifics filled in, but I do have some ideas." |

![]() ![]() GOWU UNVEILS PRIDE LOGO ![]() The Gowu Pride 2016 organizing committee has today unveiled the logo for the event. The logo displays the expected rainbow images as well as the word 'Pride' but in a surprise twist the word 'Pride' written in large letters has within the confines of those letters the same word written in a multitude of languages. This was explained as follows by Culture Spokeswoman Kay Wight: "Pride is at its heart a celebration of three things- love, hope and freedom these are qualities that transcend barriers that are all inclusive regardless of who you are or where you live everyone understands the meaning of those words. Earlier this year in Uppsala the focus of Pride was around the theme of acceptance or at least that was what it appeared to be- in Gowu it is our hope to use these three words as guidelines to promote our chosen theme of unity. We show the word pride in multiple languages because we want to illustrate this sense of unity and show that it is at the core of what the festival will mean." ![]() At the same time it was also announced that an official twitter account for Pride 2016 had gone live- this account will be used to make announcements in the run up to the event and to also allow people to share their feelings about the event before, during and after it takes place. It is understood that the Chief Councilor's daughter Kirsty Tsu will be responsible for managing this account. |

![]() ![]() ROYAL PREGNANCY ANNOUNCED Well it's been a few months of speculation but the most long awaited announcement in recent Mundus history has finally been made. Crown Princess Serenity is pregnant, the announcement comes on the day that Duke Isaac has reportedly returned to Supreme Sovereignty to take closer order of the Enlightenment situation unfolding there. The Crown Princess is four months pregnant though she has revealed that she only suspected that she was pregnant recently and only had it checked in the last few days. It is apparently quite the present for Serenity who celebrates her eighteenth birthday today though it is bitter sweet with the Enlightenment crisis developing. Many people are already placing their bets on whether it will be a boy or girl and what the name of the baby will be. ![]() PRISM TO LEAD LINE AT PRIDE ![]() Prism's RAINBOW unit In the first of what's expected to be a few major announcements in the coming days the organizing committee for Pride 2016 has revealed that the new Achkaerinese musical sensation the group Prism[1] will be leading the line of performers at Pride in the new year, the group is popular for not only their singing but also their way of performing while skating on ice. The Prism group much like Achkaerin music heavyweights AKB48 have multiple sub units within their main group and it's expected that they will all be on the performance list. An excited manager Kyoko Asechi stated "I couldn't believe it when I got the call but the group's up for this when they found out they were all straight onto the rink rehearsing being new also means that no one knows what to expect so the opportunity is there to win a lot more fans. Though I never expected us to be put into the pole position slot as it were, guess we'll have to maybe try a few new combinations." [1] OOC- Basically I've been raiding various music anime's for groups and I've got a few that are going to debut at Pride. Edited by Achkaerin, 20th November 2015 - 11:41 PM.

![]() ![]() ACHKAERINESE FORCES DEPLOY TO SUPREME SOVEREIGNTY ![]() Minister of Defence Adam Shepard giving his address earlier today Following the stepping up of offensive action by the terrorist group known as the Enlightenment resulting in a major risk to the people of Supreme Sovereignty the military forces of Achkaerin in conjunction with their CIS allies Dijel are deploying troops to the area. The decision was explained in an address by minister of defence Adam Shepard:
Public opinion at the present time is largely in favor of the intervention, analysts are hopeful that a strong CIS intervention can at least stem the Enlightenment's momentum if they can't reverse it of course. If the conflict drags on then there's always the possibility that the CTO may send support either way with the international community coming in like the cavalry the days of the Enlightenment seem to be fleeting ones. ![]() ACHKAERIN SPACE AGENCY UNVEILS COOPERATIVE PROJECT ![]() Proposed design of the Cooperative Project extension to the ASA facility in Djana-Ville The Achkaerin Space Agency has today announced its latest project and this one doesn't involve building something tangible, which makes a change normally when I report on something like this I end up reporting on a new rocket or something but today I'm reporting on a new initiative. The Achkaerin space program is one of the most advanced on Mundus and recognizing this the agency has decided to let nations with less developed space programs learn from the Achkaerin Space Agency through hands on side by side training with Achkaerin personnel, this is thought to include the possibility of inclusion on future Achkaerin space missions. It has been announced that interested parties need only contact the ASA and arrange things on a case by case basis. There are rumors circulating that at least one deal in regards to this has already been struck although nothing definite could be discerned today. In related news the Athena II craft 'Star Slinger' returned safely to Mundus today with the crew reporting a great success to their mission and now all eyes are on Director of Flight Operations Nicola Fernley as she looks to finalize the landing attempt of the Athena III mission. ![]() ![]() RIVIERE UNVEILS MYRMIDON TANK ![]() Riviere Corporation has today announced that their latest development for the Achkaerin military- the Myrmidon tank is ready to undergo trials. The Myrmidon is reportedly a return to 'basic counter tank tactics' as its main role is that of a tank destroyer though it's lightness and speed also make it an ideal scouting vehicle, the theme of scouting possibilities is continued with the inclusion of a thermal masking system making the tank that much harder to track, the Achkaerin military is believed to be obtaining two hundred of these tanks which it has stated "will serve to support the main thrust of our armored corp." the comment is believed to be a reference to the Hoplite type tank that makes up the backbone of Achkaerin's armored vehicles. Riviere Corporation have denied that this announcement is ahead of schedule due to the Enlightenment situation in Supreme Sovereignty although speaking personally I remain unconvinced and believe that it's possible once the final trials are conducted that these tanks may be seen on Sovereigntyian soil in the near future, I believe this because the announcement specifically included mention of the words 'tank destroyer' which reading between the lines could be a response to the seizing of Aperture assets in particular tanks by the Enlightenment. |

![]() ![]() EMPEROR VISITS EMBASSY IN BOMBING AFTERMATH ![]() It was just an ordinary morning in Valtheim, well at least it was until half past ten when a bomb went off inside the East Moreland embassy. Though the blast was nowhere near the scale of other terrorist attacks it is this fact that has the police severely concerned in an official statement they say- "This was a well planned, well timed and well executed terrorist attack. The nature of the explosion was clearly designed to kill people and not be sufficiently forceful to bring the building down. This notion of selective targeting makes them more dangerous than most terrorist threats. In the meantime the investigation is ongoing and East Moreland authorities are being kept informed." It was three hours following the blast that the Emperor visited the embassy himself, accompanied by his partner Renee Sandiego the pair spent time talking with embassy staff and those investigators that were on the scene. At the conclusion of the visit the Emperor gave the following statement: "Today is a tragedy, that East Moreland citizens have lost their lives on Achkaerin soil is tragic, my thoughts go out to the families of those who've died. At this time the investigation is ongoing and being handled by our very best, East Moreland authorities are being kept in the loop and are cooperating where asked to do so. I would like to assure the public that the perpetrators of this attack will be found and brought to justice. It's clear that the Borland cause will only be harmed by such attacks as this, especially in a country that has called for the actions referred to by today's attackers to be answered to." The group responsible for the attack 'The King's Blood' a splinter group of the Borland Separatists though maybe not a complete splinter since this group is headed up by Kyle Barren's cousin, is a new ping on the Achkaerinese national security radar but with today's attack it is likely that this group has just become the centre of attention. |

![]() ![]() SAKURA-UMEKO ACCORD "DISAPPOINTING" SAYS GOWU MINISTER ![]() Senator Mai Bell, Minister for Gowu Today's Senate session is one normally set aside for pressing international issues, today however it was the recently signed Sakura-Umeko Accord between Rokkenjima and Toshikawa that took centre stage, the treaty regarded by the two parties as a significant milestone is undoubtedly a solid foundation on which to build an international relationship however not everyone is impressed. A point best made by Senator Mai Bell, the Minister for Gowu who stated the following during today's session: "The Sakura-Umeko Accord is a significant document no one is going to take anything away from that but it is disappointing. It is disappointing because it leaves six and a half million people scratching their heads wondering where this leaves them, to put it another way there is no accounting for Gowu in this treaty- this treaty employs the lowering of tariffs for the exporting and importing of goods between Rokkenjima and Toshikawa- the damage that will do to the Gowu economy is potentially devastating especially considering the luring effect this will have on Toshikawan business's to look north to Rokkenjima rather than to Gowu. I personally hope this is an oversight by the Empress of Rokkenjima but if it isn't I suggest that the Marble Palace aids the Chief Councillor of Gowu in rectifying this mess as soon as possible." In response to this the Marble Palace has stated that the Emperor will seek to address the Empress of Rokkenjima about this at the earliest opportunity, however sources within the Senate suggest that the Emperor may be under pressure a little this time as some Senators within the Endeavour, Progressive and Puritan Parties are pushing for a vote of disapproval in the treaty- a motion that if carried would radically alter Achkaerin's foreign policy relations with both Rokkenjima and Toshikawa. |

![]() ![]() EMPEROR ENRAGED BY ROKKENJIMAN REMARKS ![]() Emperor Peter gave his response to Ms Sanders during his fencing exercise The Palace of Nations is presently in the midst of a politically divisive debate concerning the Principality of Northern Borland, however earlier today the Rokkenjiman delegate Ms Stacey Sanders very much crossed the line stating: "Another factor absent from this discussion is your Crown Princess' time with the Borlanders and the impact it has had upon her judgement towards Borland, a factor which has raised questions in prior international situations involving Achkaerin and the Separatists. We all know that Mr. Barren seeks greater legitimacy, both for himself and his 'nation', two motives which would certainly be that much closer to being accomplished through CTO membership. Hopefully that doesn't prove to be the case, however, these are factors which need to be considered given Achkaerin's keen interests in securing membership in the CTO for the Borland Separatists." Ms Sanders was removed shortly after making the statement. However the insult to Crown Princess Serenity was so strong that the Emperor allowed me into his fencing exercises (something he never does) to give his reaction: "I can understand why given some of this country's governments previous actions that people may think that Achkaerin is sympathetic to the Borlanders, we're not but that appears to be beside the point. However to dare to smear the good name and good reputation of my daughter when she does not have the opportunity to defend herself because she's busy fighting on the front lines in Supreme Sovereignty is something I find highly unacceptable, Ms Sanders would do well to remember that Serenity was at Kyle Barren's mercy for three days and it took all her wits, cunning, guile and intelligence to survive it, along with a fair bit of help from our East Moreland and Seaforth friends. I am glad that Empress Beatrice has stated that she does not support Ms Sanders's statement and that it is not an official Rokkenjiman government position, since it does make the decision myself and my daughter have taken. Having spoken to Serenity a few moments ago I intend to engage the advice of the family's solicitor with an eye to potentially suing Ms Sanders for this outrage." It was obviously not possible to get the reaction of the Crown Princess for the reasons that the Emperor stated, however it is understood that 70% of Achkaerinese citizens are believed to support the Emperors intention with 17% believing he's going a little far. However speaking personally for a moment to defending the family honor, loyalty and name is something the Azurewind house has always taken very seriously. ![]() "RESOLUTION MUST BE LEGALLY CORRECT" SAYS SENATOR HOLMES ![]() Minister for Commonwealth Affairs, Senator Cheryl Holmes has in the last hour given a short statement regarding the resolution presently before the General Assembly of the CTO, the resolution concerns the potential admission of the so called 'Principality of Northern Borland' and if passed could lead to a vote that admits the aforementioned state into the organisation. Commenting on this the Minister who has been one of the more active participants in the debate said the following: "The debate has so far been very much the charged affair that we expected it would be, there are many issues in play the majority of which have basis in morality to think that Kyle Barren could have representatives inside the CTO, it's not something you dream of seeing let's put it that way. However now is not the time for the issues of morality to be used, they will have their time when we come to discuss the actual admission of Northern Borland. What is important right now is to get the resolution right, the resolution must be legally correct, legally correct to the letter of the Commonwealth treaty. Especially in this case for two major reasons- firstly this is the first time a resolution concerning the admission of a potential member has been brought so the basis of this resolution will form the basis of all future such resolutions this is the rule of precedent. The second reason is that this concerns the 'Principality of Northern Borland' headed up by Kyle Barren, a man who takes every possible opportunity to shout about the 'oppressive and biased international community' it is very important therefore that this time we do not give him yet another stick to beat us with. The vote when it comes can be conducted with morality in mind and its result will stand whichever way it goes provided that the legal framework for it is correct and that is what this resolution does, I don't know which I way I will choose to vote but I do know that I will only vote if the foundation is sound." ![]() STAR WARS VISITS NEWS CENTRE AS FILM OPENING DRAWS NEAR ![]() It's not often that I do a report about a couple of my colleagues but that's what I'm doing tonight, today to promote the upcoming Star Wars film, the presenters of the local Valkyrian Coast news station were joined by two stormtroopers. The film, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens opens in cinemas in the coming weeks. But for two presenters and a lot of behind the scenes staff today probably felt like they were in their own version of the film. Anticipation for the film is very high among fans and given the success of the franchise so far over the years this latest installment will have an awful lot to live up to. Whether it will be a shining success or fall to the dark side, only the Force that is the box office knows and it isn't telling yet. |

![]() ![]() AZUREWINDS TO SEEK LEGAL ACTION ![]() Not really a surprise, since following the Emperor's recent outrage on the matter it was expected, the Marble Palace has confirmed that they intend to pursue legal action against the former Rokkenjiman Liaison to the Commonwealth Treaty Organisation Ms Stacey Sanders. The announcement came following a visit by the Emperor to the Azurewind family's lawyer Ms Carla Fenchurch (pictured above) when asked for specifics Ms Fenchurch said the following: "Having examined the comments the statement is clearly defamatory in that it has the potential to damage the reputation of the Crown Princess, given that records of General Assembly debates are kept online and broadcast on television channels this could be either libel or slander, but the point is the defamation of character that the Crown Princess suffers as a result of Ms Sanders's statement. I have informed the Emperor that legal action can be taken and he has engaged my services and those of my colleagues in this matter- we shall restore the Crown Princess's reputation and we shall see justice done." |

![]() ![]() PRIDE TO SHOWCASE NEW TALENT ![]() It's not every day I'm asked to write an impression of a musical lineup though normally when I am I'm expected to critique it for the person on the other end so that they can make the best assessment possible based on what I say. After Gowu was awarded the honor of hosting Mundus Pride 2016 I was approached by several important people on the Achkaerin music scene to be the musical coordinator for the Achkaerinese acts participating in the event. I knew at that point that I was already giving the opening address following the Chief Councilor's welcome so I agreed. When I started advising on the Achkaerinese acts that should go to Pride that the big names would have to be on the list if they wanted to be- the likes of AKB48 and Alchemy Naismith pull in the crowds night after night, they've played at festivals across Mundus so they were natural choices. The thing was that the theme the Pride organizing committee have gone for is very much a theme of 'a continuing journey' so I made a decision to try and incorporate some of that with the choice of acts, fortunately there are hidden meanings behind quite a lot of Achkaerinese music so there wasn't really any shortage. So eventually I decided on PRISM because when I looked at recordings from their concerts they have a great set list to be lead off and they have a rather unique tendency to sing whilst ice skating, Starlight (pictured above) I'd heard some stuff about from my sources in the entertainment industry and what I've seen of them was more than enough for them to justify being given an offer, finally μ's an up and coming act from Gowu a perfect fit for a lineup focused not only on the now but the future. So overall as the coordinator what do I think? It's a balanced lineup featuring the big names that will pull the crowds but also the next generation that will hopefully gain great experience and have a great time performing. Pride's also an international festival so if the big names are there then this can go even better. ![]() WORLD CUP DRAW GOOD TO FOX'S Following the draw for the MFA IV Men's World Cup, Dame Julia McCabe the manager of the Achkaerin national team has given her reaction. The draw sees Achkaerin drawn in Group C alongside Odmony, the Fairview Islands and Zimalia, the opening game for Achkaerin will be against Zimalia. McCabe gave the following reaction a short time ago. "It was always going to be an interesting draw because the absence of Quinntopia was always going to shift the attention to us in more ways than one, we will likely be the overwhelming favorites with the bookmakers but firstly we need to remember that while we are the defending champions no one has ever defended that title- there were plenty who thought Quinntopia would be able to do it last time but we had the smile of the Goddess of victory that night. Now without Quinntopia I'm well aware that there are people saying when we defend not if we defend a ball hasn't been kicked yet and there are plenty of potential surprise packages in this tournament and while on paper we are arguably the best team recent history at club level shows that the best team doesn't always win so I'm not taking anything for granted, I will be announcing the squad in the next few days and then we'll go and acclimatize in Sparta. As for our group well we play everyone twice and looking at it the group is winnable if we play in the way we usually play and at the same level then we can win our group." |

![]() ![]() CROWN PRINCESS TO BE FIRST COTF ARANYE PARTNERSHIP PRESIDENT ![]() ![]() Crown Princess Serenity and her cousin Sheriff of Leonaise Sakura Sheppard It may soon be betting season with the World Cup just around the corner but never was there as much of a sure fire betting certainty as this. Crown Princess Serenity has been appointed to be the first chair of the Cotf Aranye Partnership Commission, in short the organisations President. The Crown Princess has been appointed due to her "Extensive political experience and strong leadership attributes. She also played a significant part in the birth of this organisation." or so says Minister of Foreign Affairs Gordon Laithwaite. The Crown Princess is presently serving with the Imperial Navy in the Supreme Sovereignty conflict, it is not therefore expected that she will be able to assume her duties within the Cotf Aranye Partnership when the Partnership's opening session officially begins in a few weeks time. In the meantime the duties will be carried out by Sakura Sheppard the Sheriff of Leonaise. Ms Sheppard is expected to journey to Aranye City in Lakhzovia in the coming days to start setting things in place for the first term, it is understood that until the first All Aranye Assembly elections are held that the matters will be mainly administratively based. ![]() ACHKAERIN WORLD CUP SQUAD ANNOUNCED Achkaerin national team manager Julia McCabe Dame Julia McCabe has announced the squad that she hopes will be able to defend Achkaerin's World Cup title. The team consists of mostly familiar faces but there are some new members to the squad this time around:
The team features three new faces as midfielder Harrison Shibuki joins the squad while there are two changes in the striker positions with James Kazmierczek and Esteban Morova losing out as Nick Mizuki and Mark Ichinose come in. The team departs for Sparta tomorrow. ![]() CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE BATTLE HEATS UP ![]() ![]() Well it's that time of year again, the competition to see who will be Christmas Number one in Achkaerin is entering the final chapter, last year saw AKB48, Alchemy Naismith and Sanna Nielsen battle it out and this year it is again an all girl affair as PRISM and Starlight fight it out for the honor, PRISM's entry coming from their RAINBOW sub unit is Butterfly Effect while Starlight's newest release Etude of Radiance has rocketed up the charts in recent days. The mood in the music world is that it could go either way and while it is expected to be close many people are surprised that it is two lesser known groups vying for it this year with no established name anywhere in sight. Though with both groups set to perform at Pride whoever wins will serve to draw more people to that festival and that can only be a good thing. |

![]() ![]() MERRIMAN OFFERED FIRST LECTURE...JUST NOT THAT MERRIMAN (left) Donna Steele (right) Amelia Merriman It's been the centre of much speculation in the Achkaerin academic community of late- who would be picked by Dr Donna Steele to give the first Steele Lecture? Most expected that Professor Marcus Merriman would get the call, well they were partially right in that it is a Merriman who's been offered the opportunity except it's the grand daughter Amelia. When asked for the reason for her decision Doctor Steele said the following: "Well firstly it still feels weird to have a lecture named after me, normally you have to be dead to earn that honour however the university decided that my work as the inaugural chair of the CETO was worth the award. The advantage to this lecture is that I get to pick the speaker and it isn't limited to a specific academic field, heck if I wanted to I could have invited the Emperor of Rokkenjima who is perfectly capable of talking powerfully, honestly and objectively about a great many things. But for this first one I wanted something a little special, something different, unexpected and I can't think of something better than a nineteen year old student having the opportunity to address her peers on a subject of her choosing." ![]() FOX'S BREEZE PAST ZIMALIA IN WORLD CUP OPENER Achkaerin 5-0 Zimalia ![]() Mark Ichinose celebrating his hat trick goal Achkaerin's World Cup team today got their title defence underway and they did it in a way worthy of their world champion status. Heavily tipped to beat Zimalia the players and manager knew that only a comfortable victory would suffice and that is what they delivered. The team lining up in their now synonymous 3-5-2 formation produced the performance level expected of them; the pass and move game, interchanging positions and changing tempo- all staples of the Achkaerin style of football were on show and given a thorough polishing. As for the goals the first came ten minutes in as a through ball from defensive midfielder Anders Asamoah put Achkaerin's Dani Leonidas through to score his 46th international goal with a trademark slotted finish into the bottom corner, leaving him three of equaling the national record. The second came on the stroke of half time as left winger Nico Heizenberg somehow managed to score directly with a corner kick. The second half however belonged to Mark Ichinose, making his international debut as a half time substitute for Joshua Schilling with Achkaerin in total control and with one eye on what are likely to be tougher games the teams manager Dame Julia McCabe probably took the chance to rest some players with the game won. The Valor Athletic striker (Ichinose) took full advantage of the opportunity given to him, firstly with a precisely placed penalty on the hour mark after the teams captain Robert Kinnay was brought down in the area, his second was a bullet header from a Rory Doherty cross, but his confidence really showed with his third picking up the ball thirty yards from goal he beat two defenders and chipped the ball over the keeper to make his debut a night to remember with a hat trick. After the game Dame Julia McCabe gave the following reaction: "Let's not get ahead of ourselves, we were predicted to easily win tonight and we did. The fact is if we were going to pick the opposition for our opening game we'd have picked Zimalia because our chances of getting the winning start and three points are higher. We haven't done anything we weren't expected to do. That said I'm very pleased with the disciplined nature of tonight's performance we kept it tight, we bossed the game, dominated possession and could have scored more, Mark was fantastic tonight it's a great way to mark his debut and it justifies his selection. Now we go and try to win our next game we do that and we tighten our hold on top spot in the group, there are of course still five games left in the group and anything can happen but there's a lot on the line for us in this tournament and I'm hoping that the team's focus on achieving the one thing they have got left to achieve will take them where they want to go." The other game in group C finished Fairview Islands 3-1 Odmony. So with the next game for the Fox's being against the Fairview Islands the winner will have control of Group C. ![]() ![]() Welcome to the Achkaerin News Service Christmas edition, yes we know it's in fact Boxing Day but as is tradition unless there's a sudden emergency along apocalyptic lines we don't actually report the news on Christmas but we do so on Boxing Day. ![]() Emperor's Christmas Message ![]() There are many reasons I love Christmas- the turkey, the films, the atmosphere and of course the Doctor Who Christmas special but from a professional point of view I always enjoy having the opportunity to critique the Emperor's Christmas message, this year the Emperor chose to focus on the world of the future as well as reflecting on the past year.
Naturally given that the message was pre-recorded the recent tragic events in East Moreland are not mentioned in the speech though it is reported that upon hearing the news of the attack at Northfort Palace, which resulted in the deaths of many prominent figures including Conrad Black the Achkaerinese ambassador to East Moreland that the Emperor immediately gave orders for a visit to East Moreland. ![]() FORCES CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS IN SUPREME SOVEREIGNTY ![]() Lt Chloe Taki and Capt Fleur Mishima enjoying their Christmas dinner The spirit of Christmas is something universal and so it doesn't matter that it's the middle of a warzone, Christmas even comes to soldiers on the front lines. The two thousand Achkaerinese soldiers presently in Supreme Sovereignty celebrated the festive season with a mostly traditional Christmas meal. The day was best summed up by Capt Mishima: "It's always odd when you spend Christmas away from home and family, it's the one day of the year even us soldiers hope to be at home. This year we drew the on call deployment and here we are, but we've got a Christmas dinner, not cooked as you'd expect but barbecued, but heck it's Christmas." RIVIERE'S CHRISTMAS PRESENT TO ACHKAERIN AIR FORCE- THE WYVERN ![]() The timing is what makes this a Christmas present, though sources inside Riviere Corporation have stated that what's being called the 'Achkaerin Air Force invigoration' program has been on the cards for a while- the program will see the introduction of three new types of aircraft, including the first purpose designed spotting aircraft, a supplemental long range strike craft to support the Raven type and first the Wyvern class- a supersonic fighter[1] designed to strike fast and hard, with a view to being seen side by side with the Harpy and Kestrel type aircraft as Achkaerin's leading combat aircraft. Of great personal interest is of course the wing design, Riviere Corporation has kept tight lipped on what that design means but with an educated guess I would personally suggest that it's something to do with the agility of the craft and how to best give it an edge over other similar craft. ![]() STARLIGHT TAKE CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE ![]() The up and coming group Starlight have won the battle for Achkaerin Christmas Number one with their song Etude of Radiance, they saw off the challenge from rivals PRISM on the final day to take the spot by over five thousand sales including internet downloads. The group who are set to perform at Mundus Pride in a couple of weeks time have confirmed that they are reviewing their set list to include their winning song. [1] OOC- Will be similar to this |

![]() ![]() FOX'S CHARGE ONWARDS Achkaerin 3-1 Fairview Islands ![]() Achkaerin's footballers have seized control of Group C at the MFA World Cup with a 3-1 victory over the Fairview Islands. They had a sterner test this time out than they did against Zimalia but they came through with a powerful second half display finally wearing down a stubborn opponent who took them by surprise in the first forty five and led at 1-0 at the break, but a Joshua Schilling volley brought the Fox's level then on the hour mark a penalty from captain Robert Kinnay (pictured above) put Achkaerin ahead, victory was secured ten minutes from time with a goal from substitute James H'Daen, breaking through to fire past the onrushing keeper. This leaves Achkaerin atop Group C with a three point cushion and with their next game against Odmony and the one after against Zimalia hopes are high that the team can secure qualification for the knockout stages at the earliest opportunity. ![]() HROTHGAR FACILITY TO BE DEVELOPED ![]() In an announcement that may attract some interest and raised eyebrows the Achkaerin military has confirmed that they intend to build a facility on Hrothgar, the facility is expected to primarily serve as a training and resupply base for Achkaerin forces. In a formal statement Minister of Defence Adam Sheppard said: "We already send troops over to Hrothgar as part of their survival training so they can get accustomed to operating in that climate it is simply common sense that we should establish a fully operational facility such as this to provide a safety net for that harsh element of the training. The base will also double as a search and rescue base on Hrothgar. Now thanks to the efforts of analysts from both Riviere Corporation and CORAL we have found a way to do this without absolutely destroying the environment of the area." Overall both the scientific and military communities have viewed this as a positive development with one military analyst saying "It's been a long time coming" What the international community will make of this is yet to be seen. ![]() BEHOLD THE OWL ![]() In my second report on the new aircraft of the Achkaerin Air Force I take a look at the first purpose designed spotter aircraft that the Air Force will have- the Owl type. The Owl type houses a crew of five and will be categorized as a logistical craft, it is odd in that the cockpit is off centre though from what I've seen that is to accommodate the equipment required for the craft to do its job. Of course the Owl does boast some form of defensive capability in the form of two gun positions. Of course being a logistical aircraft the Owl is not likely to be seen in any great numbers but its development will ease the strain on the Nightingale type aircraft already in use by the Air Force. |

![]() ![]() EMPEROR SPEAKS FOLLOWING EAST MORELAND TRAGEDY ![]() The Emperor discussing the tragedy with girlfriend Renee Sandiego Emperor Peter has visited Northfort Palace in the aftermath of the King's Blood attack, during the visit he talked with Achkaerinese intelligence officials and with other members of the investigation team, it is not known whether the Emperor has spoken with members of the East Moreland government, however what was clear was that the Emperor was visibly moved by the tragedy, when pressed for comment he gave the following statement:
Shortly following giving that statement the Emperor is believed to have headed for the hospital to offer support to the East Moreland Royal Family. ![]() THE HUMMINGBIRD: SUCCESSOR TO THE RAVEN? ![]() In my final report on the new additions to the Achkaerin Air Force I've been taking a look at the new long range strike aircraft (termed bomber by the Air Force) the Hummingbird, intended to be seen in a supporting role to the Raven type aircraft, the Hummingbird offers excellent agility a design based around evasive flying and also a longer range on its weapons specification, it is also capable of carrying greater payloads and it is these last two points that make me suspect that in the future it will be the Hummingbird that makes up the spine of the Air Force bomber squadrons with the Raven's being phased down into the supporting role, though I wouldn't be expecting that to happen for a while yet. The testing of the Wyvern, Owl and Hummingbird are expected to occur within the next few weeks to months. |

![]() ![]() Happy 2016 to all our readers, today we bring you the New Years edition of the news. ![]() ATHENA III ASTRONAUTS REVEALED ![]() (top row left to right) Pilot: David Anderson, Commander: Sophia Kiriya, Engineer: Lucas Murray (bottom row left to right) Scientist: Adaeko Daikyoto, Scientist: Rebecca Hardy, Scientist: Radmilo Zemlinsky[1] Well I've been speculating about this announcement for months and frankly so have many scientists the world over, ever since the Achkaerin Space Agency announced its intention to put the first human on Ishtar everyone's been asking the same thing- just who would be put on the manned mission to Ishtar? Well today we got our answer, the crew revealed today at Achkaerin Mission Control are pictured above, as expected it is a multi national crew, in terms of makeup it's a crew of four men and two women. The crew will be flown from Mundus to Ishtar orbit by Achkaerinese pilot David Anderson, from Unison City David came the conventional route to the ASA going first into the Air Force and then after three years transferring over to the space program, David's logged more flying hours than all the other pilots who were under consideration for this mission. Making sure they get there in one piece is the engineer Lucas Murray also from Achkaerin born in Solaria and a graduate of Riviere Corporation Technology College with a first class award in engineering. David as it turns out will be ably supported by Radmilo Zemlinsky from Lakhzovia and Adaeko Daiyoto from Toshikawa both within the context of this mission have been described as 'jacks of all trades' these two also form part of the landing team that will have the opportunity to walk the surface of Ishtar. The final scientist is experienced Rokkenjiman astronaut Rebecca Hardy who has orbited Ishtar in the past and studied the planet from afar for quite some time. The crew is rounded out by its commander; Achkaerin's Sophia Kiriya who not only commands the mission but will pilot the Seaforthian made landing module down to the surface of Ishtar and then back up again, it will also be Sophia who takes the first human steps on Ishtar. The mission is scheduled to launch in a few days time from the Achkaerin Space Agency facility in Dijel and marks the first time where the ASA has cooperated on a mission of this magnitude with other nations and with two further Ishtar missions scheduled it's doubtful that it'll be the last time either. ![]() SPORTS STARS HEAD NEW YEARS HONORS LIST (left) Tennis Star Melody Cartwright (centre) Tennis Star David H'Daen (right) 'Queen of Cycling' Sammy Lawson This is always a fun time of year, it's the time of year when the Emperor rewards excellence in many different fields. As has become convention in recent years most of the awards have gone to many unsung heroes and this year has been no exception with over one thousand awards being given out in this vein. However inevitably it is the big names, the stars of their field that have attracted the most attention. The two world number one's in tennis David H'Daen on the men's side and Melody Cartwright on the women's side have received knighthoods these recognize a year where they not only rose to the top of their sports but they stayed there each finishing the year on top of the world rankings with gold medals from the Mundus Games in East Moreland to boot. There is also a knighthood for Achkaerin's leading cyclist Sammy Lawson, who showed her stuff at home and abroad bringing three gold medals back from East Moreland, however it is her drive to inspire the next generation and get kids out from in front of the computer and television and into exercising and being active that has brought her this award. For Sammy this undoubtedly caps off a great year following not only her success in East Moreland but also being named Achkaerin's Sports Personality of the Year. ![]() FOX'S NOTCH UP ANOTHER WIN Achkaerin 3-0 Odmony Achkaerin's men's football team have maintained their unbeaten record in the world cup, following victories over Zimalia and the Fairview Islands it was the turn of Odmony to fall victim to the world champions who put in a very good performance against a tricky opponent, the goals would come on the half hour mark from a Cesc Santiago free kick, then on the stroke of half time from a Rory Doherty mazy run and roofing of the ball into the net. The final goal came from Nick Mizuki (in red above) as he raced through the defence to slot home and consign Odmony to defeat up until that goal in the 68th minute Odmony had been looking quite threatening but Mizuki's goal seemed to give the Fox's the breathing space they needed. Speaking after the game the team's manager Dame Julia McCabe said the following: "Sometimes a result gives an impression of a game that is a misrepresentation, we've won three to nothing tonight but let's be clear Odmony were a lot better than the scoreline suggests had we not got that third goal when we did...well anything could have happened. The good news is that we're on form and next time out we'll be going into the second half of the group stage and while all the pundits will be doing the equations for us it's just one game at a time." Achkaerin will next play Zimalia and if they win then they will go to within a point of qualification for the quarter finals, however should Achkaerin win and the Odmony v Fairview Islands game end in a draw then Achkaerin will qualify as group winners. ![]() ![]() FOX'S PERFECT TEN Achkaerin 10-0 Zimalia ![]() Dani Leondias celebrates taking the national goal scoring record Anyone who thought the days of Achkaerin and world cup shocks were behind us, well you were wrong. The Fox's have pulled off a heck of a shock by beating Zimalia by ten goals to nil, something no one saw coming but on a day of high scoring throughout the games played Achkaerin booked their quarter final place with a lot of style. The game was only two minutes old when Robert Kinnay was brought down in the penalty area, the resulting penalty led to the opening goal from Dani Leonidas. The second a volley from Nico Heizenberg, the third a header from Joshua Schilling and the fourth a slotted finish from Leonidas came in a seven minute burst towards the end of the half and on the stroke of half time it was Anders Asamoah who added the fifth. The second half produced more of the same Leonidas bagged his hat trick on the hour with a well timed finish after being put clear through, Robert Kinnay would make it seven, Cesc Santiago eight from a free kick and then substitute Mark Ichinose nine, but the last act would fittingly go to Dani Leonidas having equaled the national record with his hat trick was put through once more by Cesc Santiago and finished with a neat chip to score his fourth of the night and take the national record outright. Speaking after the game the manager Julia McCabe said the following: "It's not often I just have to stand there and watch the lads play, they were excellent tonight to score ten without reply is something practically unheard of but considering the opposition it was possible. We dominated and we took our chances in very merciless fashion and that is what champions do. We've booked our quarter final spot now we go and try to win this group." A point in their next game against the Fairview Islands will see Achkaerin win Group C with a game to spare. |

![]() ![]() ATHENA III LAUNCHES ![]() In the early hours of this morning in Dijel or late at night in Achkaerin the Athena III mission launched. The six astronauts selected to go beyond what has been done before received a great send off from the locals and tourists alike. The choice of the Dijel facility as the launch site for this mission is clearly a sensible one since there's no danger of an unexpected northern ocean storm. The launch according to mission control was a good one with 'phase one' of the mission that is to say getting the craft into space and then heading in the right direction going like 'clockwork'. Where this mission will get tricky is when the astronauts go from relying on experience to having to trust in theory, according to all the data provided everything should be fine but there are always concerns when stepping into the unknown. The key moment will be what happens when the lander hits the surface. Even the best estimates only establish that the lander will last an hour at most on the surface. Of course the same people when asked to estimate the astronauts time on the surface outside the capsule also stated that it was approximately forty five minutes though considering the modifications made to the suits have never been tested at the temperatures of Ishtar in practice, only simulated, there is a lot of skepticism about whether the suits will work for long enough and that only leads to one thing- a lot of crossed fingers. ![]() RESHUFFLE TRIGGERS BY-ELECTION ![]() ![]() (left) the former Minister of Foreign Affairs now Minister of Aranye Affairs Mr Gordon Laithwaite (right) the new Minister of Foreign Affairs Senator Richard Chambers Not really a reshuffle but it's what it will inevitably be called, Gordon Laithwaite a long time member of the Unity Party and stalwart Foreign Affairs Minister has taken up the opportunity to lead the Achkaerinese membership of the All Aranye Assembly in the Cotf Aranye Partnership. Taking up the opportunity means that Mr Laithwaite has to give up his seat in the Senate. Thus triggering a by-election for the south west Artaxia constituency which he has held for twelve years, his constituents have wished him all the best and will now wait to see who contests the seat in the coming days. Of course Mr Laithwaite leaving his position as Minister of Foreign Affairs meant that there was a vacancy in the Government and it has been filled by Senator Richard Chambers of the Patriot Party, this is significant because the Vice Consul is no longer the only Patriot Party member in the 'Quintet' which is to say the Consul, Vice Consul, Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Economic Affairs. Speaking following the Consul's decision the Vice Consul Rhian Kennedy said the following: "I'm thrilled for Richard he's a man of great conscience and morality he's also been a fantastic senator for many years and has in its short history been a great cornerstone of the Patriot Party, I am pleased that the Consul has recognized this without me having to pitch anyone for the position, I know how hard Richard works he has taught me a lot over my short career thus far so I'm intrigued to see what effect his work ethic will have on the Government." |

![]() ![]() PATRIOT PARTY WINS BY-ELECTION WITH STUNNING REVERSAL ![]() Victoria Leighton, the present Youth President of Achkaerin now becomes the youngest Senator Unity Party 58%, Endeavor Party 22%, Liberal Party 10%, Patriot Party 8%, others 2%. That was the vote share in last years Senate elections for the South West Artaxia constituency. This time around the Patriot Party, the minority partner in the governing coalition, took 60% of the vote reducing the Unity Party to 20%, the Endeavor party to 15%, the Liberal Party to 3% and the others remaining at 2%. The result has left many people in the field of political analysis scratching their heads wondering how such a reversal is possible, not that the Patriot Party will mind at all. The winning candidate is Victoria Leighton the outgoing Youth President of Achkaerin who upon the result gave the following speech:
It is quite interesting that the new Senator chooses this speech to target both the Governments of Achkaerin and Rokkenjima, which have been at loggerheads in recent times, and give them a less than subtle nudge to sort the mess out. Though with Rokkenjima refusing the offer to visit for such talks it is not yet obvious if the implied issue will be resolved any time soon. ![]() FOX'S WRAP UP GROUP WITH VICTORY Achkaerin 3-0 Fairview Islands ![]() Achkaerin's football team, already qualified for the quarter finals of the World Cup, wrapped up their group with a three nil victory against the Fairview Islands, goals from Nick Mizuki, substitute Joshua Schilling and then captain Robert Kinnay (pictured above) from the penalty spot completed a perfect group stage for the Fox's as they register six wins out of six games boasting the best defence in the competition with only a single goal conceded but at the other end twenty six goals scored. It has been stressed by the team management that they weren't expected to do anything other than this. Achkaerin will play Nya Aland in the quarter finals in what is expected to be a tricky game, though having looked through the quarter final draw it does indicate a changing of the guard to some extent in that only two of the last eight are expected, the other six are to varying degrees surprises. ![]() ![]() ANTARES BASE GOES TO CONDITION RED FOLLOWING SENATE VOTE ![]() Two Harpy class fighters standby for launch on the INS Simon Azurewind After days of the political back and forth between Achkaerin and Rokkenjima dominating Senate sessions (which came to an end today in rather unexpected fashion see article below) the business moved to the matter of the conflict in Nueva Ardia. While not something that would normally merit discussion on the Senate floor due to the great geographical distance between the Achkaerin and Nueva Ardia, however following several reports similar to one made by the Free Mundus Network the Senate today voted to raise the alert level at Antares military base on Dauntel to condition red- meaning a deployment is imminent, the reason was outline by Minister of Defence Adam Sheppard as follows: "International politics of late appears to do nothing except reduce international treaties, that many people sweated blood to establish, to the role of toilet paper we cannot have nations tear up such documents without expecting consequences. This situation in Nueva Ardia is one such example, given the conditions that people are living in, the tactics in use by the Toshikawan forces and other factors we will enforce our rights under article 1.3 of the Uppsala Convention and ensure that Toshikawan and any other forces are compliant with that document, if we come into knowledge that there have been violations then I will make known now that due process for them to be held accountable will be swiftly dispensed." The Government also stated that to cover all bases the Rokkenjiman Government had been informed of the deployment. ![]() ROYAL COURT VETO'S PURITAN "VENDETTA" AS TENSIONS PEAK ![]() ![]() (left) Senator Brian McHale, leader of the Puritan Party (right) Lady Kristina Ayanami The day in the Senate started as most of the recent ones have finished with the debate focusing around the recent exchange of words between Pyrenna and Valtheim. However today there was to be a surprise as the Puritan Party riding a wave of public outrage over Rokkenjima's 'protest' brought a motion calling for the removal of Queen Cecelia Military Base from Meridian Island. The motion fiercely resisted by the governing coalition did appear to have a fair amount of support however after the lunch adjournment the Speaker of the Senate declared the motion was 'Struck out following Royal veto'. This is a mechanism that has not been used for one hundred and thirty years it allows the reigning monarch to veto a Senate motion. Senator McHale outraged stated: "Abuse of power and process and a democratic obstacle." However Lady Kristina Ayanami, the Marqueeza of Artaxia, who is presently leading the country at home stated: "Senator McHale's motion is frankly even more absurd than the Rokkenjiman protest that it is a reaction to. At least the protest which is marginally reasoned but mostly misinformed and poorly thought out shares concerns that we are trying to address, something now made easier with the passing of the Admissions Procedure resolution by the CTO. To even suggest the closing of QCMB is an absurdity we are nowhere near that yet. I know the Emperor and I know he would never go there so following discussion with both him, his Chief of Staff and the Attorney General I employed the Royal Veto." Whether this will prove to be the beginning of the end of tensions between Achkaerin and Rokkenjima is yet to be seen. ![]() PRIDE STARTS WITH REMEMBRANCE MOMENT Tonight saw the formal beginning of Mundus Pride 2016, hosted in the city of Gowu, the opening event of the festival was a music concert in the Harmonic Arena in which several high profile acts from Achkaerin took part including the likes of AKB48 and Starlight with PRISM's RAINBOW unit opening the proceedings. The official opening of Pride was handled by Kirsty Tsu (pictured above) the daughter of Chief Councilor Xiaoling Tsu as she gave a personal and passionate speech about the late Shogun of Toshikawa Sora Yoshimo:
![]() FOX'S MAKE LAST FOUR Achkaerin 4-1 Nya Aland ![]() Achkaerin's footballers have booked themselves a semi final spot at the world cup with a victory over Nya Aland, despite falling behind early on the Fox's bounced back thanks to their two wide players Nico Heizenberg on the left and (pictured above in red) Rory Doherty on the right causing trouble all game long and both were rewarded as it was Heizenberg who got the equalizer on the half hour mark. In the second half it was Rory Doherty who netted a brace- the first a neat finish into an open net and the second a well placed shot from the edge of the area. The scoring was completed and the game made safe with twenty minutes left when Peter Adams rose highest to head in from a corner. Achkaerin will play Tytor in the last four which Julia McCabe, the teams manager has described as the following: "There are only three teams on Mundus that we've played who have caused us problems- Quinntopia, Toshikawa and Tytor. Yes fine there's Blue Shadow but they aren't around anymore. Anyway the point is that we're in the semi finals which means that when the new world rankings are announced post tournament we'll have wrestled the number one spot from Quinntopia. In terms of the Tytor game it'll be tight and it'll be tricky last time we played them we won by two goals to one I hope it won't be that close this time." |

![]() ![]() CROWN PRINCESS SERENITY ENLIGHTENMENT PRISONER ![]() Following a report by the Free Mundus Network, Brigadier Xiaoyu Ibara, the ranking officer for Achkaerin forces deployed in Supreme Sovereignty in the ongoing conflict against the Enlightenment has confirmed that Crown Princess Serenity is now being held prisoner by the enemy. In a short statement the Brigadier confirmed that the Crown Princess was reported missing at midnight in Supreme Sovereignty having been captured an hour earlier. The only other details received concern the manner of the 'abduction' this does not appear to have been a normal kidnapping, reports suggest that the Crown Princess willingly gave herself up in order to prevent an implied attack on the city that presently houses the CIS forces. The brigadier also went on to say that "Every effort to ensure the safety of the Crown Princess will be made and we will get her back." There will be more on this story as it develops. ![]() IS THIS THE FUTURE OF AIRPORT STAFF? ![]() (left) the ATR (right) the controller setup Just when I think I've seen everything Riviere Corporation surprise me. Today they revealed their latest innovation for the workplace of the airport- the Air Traffic Robot otherwise referred to as the ATR is set to be rolled out on trial in several airports across the nation following what Riviere Corporation CEO Catriona Rowan has called "Superb results from tests on military aircraft carriers" it was confirmed upon questioning that none of these robots are actually in use in combat areas they are aboard the INS Simon Azurewind and the INS Daedalus which served as the controlled environment for the trial period. The robots work by means of what's been described as 'mirror motion' which is to say that when in the control chamber a highly sophisticated set up of sensors and transmitters allows the controller to move the robot by simply moving their own body. Or at least that's the theory it's not possible at this time due to various barriers for the robot to accurately mimic each precise detail however the broad movements required to communicate and signal pilots are perfectly possible. So is this something innovative? Does it make airports safer for the staff or put passengers at risk? That's not yet clear though when asked about the latter Ms Rowan did state that "Should the signal connection fail there is a backup system which allows the robot to act autonomously within a pre-determined sequence of actions for a limited amount of time. This also allows for decisions regarding human intervention to be taken by the airport controller." The first airport expected to trial the ATR in a civic setting is Avalon airport with the trial being rolled out to Valkyria and Neo Gowu in the next two weeks. Additional information has also suggested that the technology used forms the basis of an Achkaerin Space Agency probe development program for an upcoming mission. ![]() FOX'S BOUNCE BACK TO TAKE THIRD Achkaerin 2-0 Dijel ![]() Achkaerin's footballers bounced back from their penalty shootout loss to Tytor with a storming performance to defeat Dijel by two goals to nil in the third place playoff. Determined to prove a point the Fox's took control of the game from the start and played their natural game with a goal from Dani Leonidas coming at the mid point of the first half following a flowing passing move. The second half was an equally dominant performance with the second goal coming on the hour thanks to Harrison Shibuki slotting in from close range. With their tournament over the Fox's are expected to return in the next couple of days and despite being robbed of the opportunity to defend their title by the roulette of a penalty shootout they do come home with a prize in the form of the number one spot on the provisional world rankings list. |

![]() ![]() THE HERALDING FIRST STEP: ASTRONAUTS WALK ON ISHTAR ![]() Sophia Kiriya geared up walks the surface of Ishtar At approximately 22:30 hours Achkaerin Standard Time last night the Seaforthian manufactured lander known as Ishtar Two but christened Nycelene by the Achkaerin Space Agency touched down on the surface of Ishtar, five minutes later at 22:35 the outer door was opened and the mission commander Sophia Kiriya took the first human steps on the planet, she was soon joined on the surface by three other astronauts featuring Rebecca Hardy of Rokkenjima- a quite amusing sight considering the current political back and forth between Achkaerin and Rokkenjima. As is tradition when the first step was taken there came first words in Sophia's case they were: "All journey's begin with a single step, let this be the step that heralds a new era of exploration of the wondrous frontier we call space." A fitting choice though not original these were words used by Director of Flight Operations Nicola Fernley when she took up her post a few years ago, words that inspired the revival of the Achkaerin astronaut program and brought astronauts such as Sophia Kiriya, David Anderson and Lucas Murray into the fold. It is expected that space exploration will continue to be the priority of the Achkaerin Space Agency with several projects reportedly under consideration, the acquisition of Seaforthian built landing modules also means that the training program will now expand to include landings on the moon as 'field training.' What the future specifically holds is unsure but I'll be sure to keep my eyes and ears open. OOC- Now before anyone else cries foul I will state that prior to posting the associated vignette I checked with Beatrice whether my understanding of space missions within the RP context was correct, the reply I received was that my understanding was correct and that I was permitted to post the landing. ![]() ![]() EMPEROR LEAVES FOR ROKKENJIMA ![]() Royal Press Secretary Hannah Cartwright delivered an official statement minutes after the Emperor departed the Marble Palace Emperor Peter has departed Achkaerin for Rokkenjima reportedly to clear the air with the Empress of Rokkenjima following recent frank exchanges between the two nations. The Emperor's departure was followed by an official statement delivered by Royal Press Secretary Hannah Cartwright:
It is yet to be seen what progress can be made at this point especially as recent events have put the situation in regards to Borland firmly in the hands of the CTO and beyond the control of any individual nation. CHIDORI MISSILE DEFENCE SYSTEM GIVEN 'OBVIOUS' TESTING ![]() Following a recent missile test conducted by Toshikawa in the Sea of Kyne the Imperial Navy has in conjunction with the Achkaerin Air Force conducted a missile attack simulation test at Antares base on the Dijel island of Dauntel. The test ,which was supposedly planned well in advance though the timing is suspect in my opinion, was of the newly installed Chidori missile defence system. The Air Force launched the mock attack from the direction of the Dijel mainland and the attack was intercepted by the Chidori missiles 2000km from Dauntel's easternmost point. The commander of Antares base Fleet Captain Aoife Thorn stated: "The very notion that Toshikawa pursues greater destructive technology or at least seems to means that we need to prove that should this so called 'cold war' between them and Dijel boil over that the capability exists to blunt the Toshikawan weaponry, this is what the Chidori system combined with the Shuriken system allows us to do. Dijel is a CIS partner that we are strongly allied with and we will not sit by and do nothing when such an obvious provocative act is carried out. TOSHIKAWAN MISSILE TESTS GET CRITICISM IN SENATE The missile tests in the Sea of Kyne carried out by Toshikawa and the planned battery of tests over Hygelac has been debated in the Senate attracting much condemnation of the tests themselves, with many seeing it as Toshikawa flexing its muscles as suggestions of 'Toshikawan imperialism' become much more common. The main concern was over the planned Hygelac test and was addressed by Senator Siobhan Williams, the minister of Environmental and agricultural affairs:

![]() ![]() ROYAL PRINCESSES CELEBRATE FIRST BIRTHDAY ![]() ![]() (left) Princess Lamia (right) Princess Aeolia Princess Aeolia and her sister Princess Lamia have today celebrated their first birthday, the daughters of Prince Simon and his wife the Sheriff of Gowu Lydia Daniels officially turned one year old today but there was no party with the absence of all the Royal family due to commitments overseas including in this instance both parents who are serving in Supreme Sovereignty at the present moment. While the nation has celebrated the birthday it has been stated by the Marble Palace that "A party for the young Princess's shall be arranged once the situation in Supreme Sovereignty is resolved and their parents are back home." Of course this moment of joy is also set against the ongoing situation concerning Crown Princess Serenity, but it is understood that all steps to get her back safely are being taken. ![]() "IARO HAS HAD A SUCCESSFUL FIRST OUTING" RIVIERE CEO Following reports in the Dijel press it would seem that the Achkaerinese-Dijeli IARO partnership has brought it's first project into being. The VSTOL jet named the JAS 49c Sea Shrike for the Dijel forces shall become the Siren type jet in the Achkaerin Air Force. This is also a significant milestone in the production of Achkaerinese military equipment as this marks the first occasion where certain areas of the process have been open to another state. The CEO of Riviere Corporation, Catriona Rowan (pictured above) stated the following: "The IARO was always an interesting opportunity for businesses in both Achkaerin and Dijel who are in this line of manufacturing and having looked at the data for the Siren. I couldn't be happier with the result. The IARO has had a successful first outing, we have a nice shiny new jet that will enable the Achkaerin Air Force to supplement the Kestrel jet already in use and diversify the air force power somewhat, until the Air Force Commanders have had the opportunity to do the maths we're obviously not going to know how many Siren's we'll be getting but we will be getting some. The opportunity to work alongside other business's is something that should never be sniffed at, we didn't sniff and we've had a good result. Hopefully this is just the first of many such ventures." Speculation has been made that with the Imperial Navy looking to redesign the Defiant class frigate that the IARO's next project may be closer than thought in fact it may already be underway. ![]() CONSUL CALLS FOR PREVENTATIVE MEASURES AFTER CLIMB DOWN ![]() Following the intervention of the Shogun Kei Taira, the much criticized missile test over Hygelac set to be carried out by Toshikawa has been cancelled. In the wake of this the international community has been taking a deep breath, however Consul Michael Williams has today called on the international community to take steps to ensure that such an event is never seen again. During his regular weekly televised public questions session the Consul made the following statement:
![]() SURPRISE SONG SHOOTS TO #1 IN MUSIC CHARTS Music sensations are often triggered by outside events affecting the listeners attitude, but for the last few days as the situation with the now cancelled missile test in Hygelac unfolded, Achkaerin's music lovers apparently made their opinion known by sending AKB48's 'Hashire Penguin' to the number one spot in the charts where it has sat since, racking up the internet downloads and sales. Many don't expect the song to stay there now that the crisis has passed but members of the band's management, who like everyone else were surprised, retain a level of cautious optimism ahead of an interesting musical year. ![]() ![]() ROKKENJIMA MUST ANSWER KEY QUESTION AND ADDRESS MAJOR FAILING ![]() As tensions between Achkaerin and Rokkenjima once more run very high, the constant back and forth appears to wearing patience thin even in the Senate where the present state of affairs has led to several short remarks, today the Vice-Consul Rhian Kennedy sought to address the key factors at the core of the latest chapter in this 'rough patch' of the relationship between the two nations:
![]() NEW DEFIANT CLASS UNVEILED ![]() Riviere Corporation has unveiled the latest Achkaerin naval vessel to have undergone an overhaul- the Defiant Class frigate. This latest Defiant Class once playfully referred to as a 'tough little ship' by the Emperor during his days in the Imperial Navy is the second project of the Achkaerinese-Dijeli Inter-Allied Research Organisation. In the coming weeks the present eight Defiant Class frigates will be retired and replaced with this new model and first off the production line is the INS Valiant, the ship once commanded by the Emperor. At the unveiling Riviere Corporation CEO Catriona Rowan gave the following statement: "The Defiant class has always been a key component of Achkaerin's modern navy and this stays true to our principles the trimaran hull design gives her speed and she's got plenty of teeth as well. We are very pleased with the results and having seen the work ethic of the Dijel engineers we partnered up with for this I may be considering opening up a Riviere Corporation Technology College campus in Dijel at some point soon, they have some great engineering talent. The Defiant has a few tricks, stealth capability foremost among them, capability to transport four Mermaid scout vessels and a mobile helipad with room for up to two helicopters it's one impressive ship. Granted there will be differences, the Achkaerin version like all Imperial Navy craft will operate off our own operating systems, the version made available to Dijel will obviously not. There will be other differences as well but they will not take away from what is in our opinion a great ship that fulfills the brief we were asked for- a ship capable of fighting the threats faced in not just the present but the future as well, a ship that is outfitted with our prototype 'Chameleon' system I am rather intrigued to see how that pans out." It is expected that Dijel will be receiving several of these vessels but no details as to that have yet been announced. |

![]() ![]() SENSATIONAL SAMMY IGNITES ACHKAERIN MEDAL CHALLENGE ![]() Sammy Lawson (2nd place in picture) at the mid point of the race A new year of sports means the latest installment of the Mundus Games. Day one of the games going to Mercia by virtue of the only gold being won on the day being won by that nation. Day two saw the competition broaden out into other disciplines as swimmers and shooters joined the cyclists in competing for medals. In the pool Achkaerin's swimmers surprised bringing home one gold, one silver and two bronzes. The gold was won by Faith Bates in the women's 200m freestyle, one of the bronzes came from her sister Eloise Bates in the women's 50m backstroke with the other coming from Joe Miller in the men's 200m backstroke and the silver was earned by Steven Owens in the men's 100m butterfly- there were no medals in the shooting. However the main event as far as day two for Achkaerin was concerned was the women's cycling road race. The surprise showing of Mercia in the men's race on day one only added to the speculation of what might happen, there were plenty of talented cyclists lining up on the start line but the defending champion was in Achkaerinese colors, Sammy Lawson regarded as one of the best road racing cyclists on Mundus, Sammy came into the games knowing she had a target on her back and with the extra pressure of being selected as the team's captain for these games. However she didn't disappoint and brought home the gold. The race itself went against the norm, in that rather than settle for the usual reasonably paced peloton and sprint, the race went at a much more broken pace, about a third of the way in a series of breakaways slimmed the field down and then at just over half distance there was another break in which the top five consisting of three Mercians, Sammy Lawson and fellow Achkaerin cyclist Melanie Parker went away from the pack, no one watching would think that a breakaway could see it out especially over this distance but as they entered the last twenty kilometres they were still clear by a great margin. The decisive moment came thanks to what Rod Heaton, the road racing coach for Achkaerin called "Greater experience of race craft" as the two Achkaerin cyclists seemed to catch the Mercian trio by surprise allowing them to drop one of their competitors, this attack would be repeated shortly afterwards and then Sammy was released to go from twelve kilometres out in a one on one race with the last of the Mercian's a race she would go on to win by four seconds, Melanie would finish fourth. After the race Sammy gave her reaction: "I think I preferred it last year because there was far less pressure. Coming back as the defending champion is always hard in any event and I wasn't sure we could do it, especially the way the race unfolded but we took a gamble and Melanie's absolutely buried herself into the ground to get me into a position where I could win, I'm going to have to buy her a heck of a drink tonight to say thanks for that and then we'll look forward to the time trial. And I'm just happy that at the third attempt my brother's here to watch me compete. Still we've done it and the captain's led the way, so I've got to hope that this medal sets off the chain reaction that bags the team a massive haul." MUNDUS GAMES ONES TO WATCH So the Mundus Games are back for a third installment and so far our athletes have bagged five medals and there's plenty more opportunity's to come so speaking as a former competitor, here are the main contenders for medals. Sammy Lawson With one gold already to her name, the Achkaerinese team captain will be a force to be reckoned with when the time for the time trial comes her great stamina level coupled with her seemingly natural ability to read the situation presented to her make her the best cyclist in Achkaerin she regularly beats men on the domestic circuit and is seen as a great ambassador for cycling, she also goes in her favorite event the Omnium on day twelve of the games. She'll also be looking to provide inspiration to the rest of Achkaerin's cycling team including the so called 'Fernley Quartet' that go in the women's team pursuit and sprint events. Britney Hammond If you went to East Moreland you'd probably hear the words "Heart breaker" in reference to Britney, she shattered the dreams of the hosts a year ago by taking the cross country gold from right under their Arch-Duchess's nose and looks to defend her title here, she'll also hope to double up with the team gold. She's in action on day five so doesn't have long to wait. The Fox's and Vixen's Well if ever there was an obvious challenge this is it. Achkaerin's men's football team is ranked number one in the world but the recently deposed world champions will be looking to prove a point and their doubters wrong by putting in a performance worthy of their status. The women who hold the title world champions and the top ranked position in the world will have less pressure on them than the men but will also hope to put on a good show. It's a football event they should be there or thereabouts at the end of this. Sazame Hatake Skilled with both bow and blade, this Maiden Sister goes in the women's katana on day nine and with plenty of other Maiden Sisters expected to be competing the chances of fencing medals remain high. The only thing that will probably annoy Sazame is that the event is only a single blade event so she won't be able to demonstrate her poise, grace and talent with two blades. ![]() Emperor Peter Azurewind Yes the Emperor is competing for the second time. He goes in the three day eventing discipline of the equestrian events and will also compete in the puissance event towards the end of the games. Having impressed last time out he will be looking for more of the same. Though with the three day eventing team also including Lady Kristina Ayanami and with Sakura Sheppard reportedly on her way to the CTO the question has to be asked: Who's running the country? Kimberly Ravers With injury robbing Achkaerin number one Melody Cartwright of the opportunity to compete this time, the Achkaerin women's tennis challenge will be borne by Kimberly Ravers, the young gun has impressed with several minor titles to her name domestically and a gold in the mixed doubles from the last Mundus Games also bagged she'll be hoping to prove her skill on the singles court. Known for her counter punching hitting from the back of the court she'll be hoping for a good run in the days to come. On the men's side David H'Daen will look to take control of things and bring the gold back. Abigail Snowden The "Queen of the Floor" as she's known back home, Abigail will be entering her third Mundus Games and will be looking to add to her haul of three gold medals from previous games. She leads the women's all around team and also competes in the individual all around competition as well as the individual floor event. She'll be one of few competitors in action on the final day of competition but she does hold the national title in the all around discipline so there is cause for optimism when it comes to her chances. |

![]() ![]() BRITTAIN BRACE CONTINUES MEDAL MOMENTUM ![]() Becky Brittain celebrating her 800m freestyle gold On day three of the Mundus Games the success's for the Achkaerin team have continued, with golds coming from Scarlet Hendricks in the women's 50m pistol, following her bronze in the 10m event and with Kristina Ayanami taking the gold in the individual dressage the medal haul was climbing nicely. But it was in the pool where the big story was to be found- Becky Brittain doubling up with gold medals in the 400m and 800m freestyle events. The Avalon based swimmer has further opportunities in the medley event at her preferred distance of 800m as well as in the relays so there's reasonable cause for optimism that the swimmers aren't done yet. In other swimming events Elyse Sawyer took the silver in the women's 400m butterfly and in the weightlifting there was a silver for Ashton Shelton in the men's 94kg. Looking ahead to day four of the game's there appears to be very little for Achkaerin fans to be thinking about in terms of medal opportunities most of their success will probably come in the events that are in the elimination tournament format, but Becky Brittain already has two medals to her name and will fancy her chances of making it three tomorrow. |

![]() ![]() BRITTAIN MAKES IT THREE AS MEDAL COUNT RISES ![]() Day Four of the Mundus Games and more medals won by Achkaerin's athletes. First Olivia Villanen shot her way to bronze in the women's skeet shooting event a medal she secured in a shoot off with the Ubakasan competitor. There was a gold medal for Maddison Fletcher in the women's 69kg weightlifting category and several teams and partnerships progressed in the other events. However the day from an Achkaerin point of view belonged to swimmer Becky Brittain. Having already bagged two golds yesterday she progressed through to the final of the 800m medley with ease and lined up as the second fastest qualifier. However eight hundred metres of swimming later it was Becky who was smiling as the winner. A solid race, commented by pundits and her coach as "one of her best" saw her edge out East Moreland's famed Daisy Greechan to take the gold medal by just over four tenths of a second. The pair had spent most of the race going virtually stroke for stroke but an early kick for home from 250 metres was in the end to prove decisive for Becky. After her victory Becky spoke to us giving the following reaction: "I never thought I'd win three golds here, because to do it that means having to beat a very talented swimmer and today that wasn't just one swimmer but the entire field upped their game. To win a race like this you need to stay with the leader, be at your best but also be constantly evaluating when you're going to try and go for it- especially when you aren't the favorite. I saw I was still alongside Daisy at the 600 metre mark and I decided to to take it out from the 650 metre mark figuring it better to go early than bet on being able to out sprint Daisy on the freestyle leg, I got the advantage and I held it, I knew down that last fifty that she was coming back and I was praying for that wall to hurry up and be there, fortunately it was because if it had been a few metres later she may well have caught me." ![]() ![]() GOLDEN GIRLS TAKE CROSS COUNTRY GLORY ![]() Day five of the Mundus Games saw the return of the cross country events, Sparta's run at the top of the table continued as they took the team gold in the men's event. But it was the Achkaerin team that shone in the women's event as the best of friends in Britney Hammond and Olivia Swire played out the latest installment in their friendly rivalry with Britney coming out on top and with the gold medal, Olivia took the silver and this combined with top twenty finishes for Terri Lloyd who finished nineteenth and Irma Waters who finished eighth brought double delight as they took the team gold. Britney gave the following reaction. "It's always special to win a gold medal but this is a team sport and you have to work together to position yourselves to have the advantage, we're no different to cyclists in that respect except we run and they pedal and I've got to hand credit to Terri, Irma and Olivia they did a great job in spacing the race out and staying high up and then when the time came Olivia pushed me all the way but I saw my opportunity and I took it. It's slightly more special in that as per tradition because today's Djana's Day we compete in our alternative colors because it's something we don't normally get to compete wearing at this level." ![]() ![]() Elsewhere on the gold medal front there was a surprise gold in the women's coxless pairs rowing event as Jasmine Houghton and Kimberly Taylor powered their way to gold by a margin of close to four seconds. In the pool the Achkaerin racers signed off with a gold in the 4x200m medley relay with a strong final leg by Becky Brittain anchoring the team to gold. Other medals came in the women's coxed eights where the team took bronze, there was also a bronze for Neil Hartson in the Men's Time Trial. Finally the Achkaerin men's football team won their last sixteen match with a convincing three nil victory over East Moreland, not that anything less was expected over a nation that is at best semi-professional but it should serve as a good nerve settler for the remainder of the competition. Already buoyed by her road race victory on day two of the games the young rider was in no mood to fail achieving the road cycling double of road race and time trial golds. She rode with her usual confidence and understanding of the situation in regards to time, eventually taking the gold medal by close to nine seconds from the Tytorian rider in second. Her success has led to the director of Achkaerin Cycling Rod Heaton saying that "Sammy Lawson stands on the brink of legendary status. I've had the pleasure to coach her since she was a seven year old girl and she's come on leaps and bounds to be the premier cyclist that she is now, she never knows when she's beaten and she never gives up, she is a true inspiration. ![]() ![]() TRIUMPHANT TRIATHLETES ![]() ![]() Triathlete gold medalists Adam Carter and Victoria Carson Day Seven in Tytor and a glorious day for Achkaerin as the athletes won gold medals in both triathlon events. Adam Carter showed his pace on the run to create a decisive margin with which to win his gold, while his female counterpart Victoria Carson struck early on in the cycling discipline and held her lead across the line, both in the end comfortable victories and both will be confident when the team version of the event is contested. Elsewhere in the games there was a surprise as Amy Waterman took gold in the women's 60kg boxing event winning by KO over her Ubakasa opponent, and it was Yuko Motomiya who took the women's Kendo title. Today also saw the start of the equestrian three day eventing competition and the Achkaerin team are off to a good start, high place finish's including top spot from Kristina Ayanami have given the team hope of success leading into the cross country tomorrow, as a team they know that their chances of gold rapidly increase if they hold their positions through tomorrow. Finally Achkaerin's male footballers saw off Wegry-Szwecja 4-2 to advance to the semi finals where they'll get a chance of revenge for their world cup penalty shootout exit when they play Tytor. Last time these two teams met on Tytorian soil the Fox's emerged victorious 2-1 and will be confident knowing that but they will have a point to prove. |

![]() ![]() FERNLEY SISTERS SHOW THEIR CLASS ![]() Sisters Caitlin, Ruth, Niamh and Lucy Fernley in the women's team pursuit event Day Ten of the Mundus Games and the return of the cycling, not outside this time, now it was the turn of track cycling. The focus for the day in the velodrome was the team events and Achkaerin's cyclists were consistent, the men's team pursuit quartet took the bronze medal and despite a blip in the men's team sprint it was even then a good day. The best however was still to come the 'Fernley Quartet' took to the track and set the fastest qualification time before out racing their Tytor rivals to claim gold in the women's team pursuit by half a second. Following this success Niamh and Lucy Fernley would return to the track later to take their second golds of the day in the women's team sprint, again at the expense of the hosts. With the individual events to come tomorrow and the Omnium the day after there are reasons to believe more success is to come. However day ten belonged to the nation of Ubakasa, as they knocked Sparta off the top of the medal table- something people were beginning to wonder about as in 'is that ever going to happen?' But happen it has and with other nations starting to find their feet in the events and put their own medal runs together we could be in for one breathtaking finish to the games as far as the medal table is concerned. |

![]() ![]() CYCLISTS CONTINUE SUCCESS AT GAMES ![]() Ruth Fernley celebrating her elimination race victory Day Eleven and with cyclists bang in form, there was a mood of optimism around the Achkaerin team today. Mark Kaymer got the team off to a great start by taking the gold in the men's individual sprint, there was a silver for David Foster in the men's Keirin and also a bronze for him in the elimination race. But it was the Fernley Quartet that took the headlines, Caitlin took gold in the women's individual pursuit, Niamh got her gold in the women's individual sprint, Lucy bagged herself a silver in the women's keirin and rounding off the set came Ruth with a gold in the women's elimination race, this means that in Mundus Games competition all four of the sisters now have individual titles to go with their team success. We were able to get a word with the eldest of the four, Caitlin after the days events, she gave the following reaction: "The Mundus Games are always something special and coming in to today's events we were reasonably confident, Lucy got a little unlucky in the keirin it would have been nice to have had all four of us taking two golds home, but she won't lose too much sleep over that she just ran out of track before she got past. I'm happy with my performance today, I took it out by a second which is a comfortable margin any day of the week, Niamh brought home gold in style as well, Lucy I've already talked about, however I think today we let Ruth have the spotlight she executed a great race- hang at the back and pick off the opposition one at a time and then go long on the last two to get across the line." The cycling continues tomorrow with the Omnium events and for Achkaerin fans there's also interest in the football medal matches where the chance for a double gold is on- the men's match already has enough significance attached to it but tomorrow the Fox's ranked number one in the world will line up against World Cup winners Luvonia. |

![]() ![]() FOX'S PROVE THEIR POINT ![]() Today's gold medal match at the Mundus Games for the Achkaerin's men's football team was built up as carrying more pressure than any previous game they've played in recent memory lining up against their successors as world champions the question was being asked 'are they still as good as they used to be?' Well judging from the result the answer is an unequivocal yes. The Fox's, in no mood to fail, took the opposition apart convincingly and were worthy three nil winners. The goals came from winger Rory Doherty and captain Robert Kinnay in the first half and despite a resurgent Luvonia in the second half, it was Danni Leonidas with the third goal (pictured above) that killed the game off on sixty eight minutes. After the game the team's manager Dame Julia McCabe gave the following reaction: "It's not often I use the phrase 'must win game' but tonight was a must win game, we lost our world crown on the lottery of a penalty shootout and having gained a measure of revenge for that by beating Tytor in our previous game, we needed to prove that we're back and tonight we did that. We went out there with high energy, pressed them high, put them under pressure and when we had the ball we played our game we were patient, we were calm and above all we were clinical. This is up there with our world cup victory in terms of performance, I'm just immensely proud of the team tonight." In the other football gold medal match the Achkaerin women followed the men's lead coming from behind to beat Toshikawa two to one with a brace from Amy Bell. ![]() Away from the football it was the final day of action in the velodrome and Achkaerin's cyclists signed off in style, Sammy Lawson was back in action and took her medal total for the games to three by securing gold in the women's omnium while there was also a gold in the men's omnium courtesy of Mark Kaymer. Kaymer not originally from Achkaerin said that he was "Proud of my accomplishments but disappointed that for various reasons I can't wear the jersey of my own nation, hopefully I may get that chance one day." ![]() ![]() CROWN PRINCESS SERENITY AND FAMILY RESCUED ![]() The following is an official statement released by myself on behalf of the Marble Palace: At approximately 22:00 hours Sovereigntyian time last night, Achkaerin Special Forces launched an assault on an Enlightenment stronghold where Crown Princess Serenity and Prince Isaac were being held. The rescue authorized at the highest level of government was successfully carried out, the Crown Princess and Prince are presently in Gowu and are expected to return to Achkaerin in the next few hours. Additionally prior to the rescue operation being executed Crown Princess Serenity gave birth to her first child- a daughter, the latest addition to the royal family Princess Astrid Azurewind is in good health and the rest of the family are quite eager to meet their newest relative. The Royal Family wish to extend their gratitude to all those involved in the rescue operation. ![]() EMPEROR MAKES NEW APPOINTMENT IN INTERNATIONAL FIELD ![]() Emperor Peter has today authorized the creation of a new position in the field of international relations- the creation of the Ardia Prefect Office is intended to facilitate the flow of information between Achkaerin and its Ardian allies with attention being paid to ensuring that such information flow comes in both directions. The search for a suitable location for the office is underway but for the moment it is going to be based in the Achkaerin embassy in Rokkenjima. The first Ardia Prefect to give the official title is to be Emalet Silvermist who for the last seven years has served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Royal Family under Kumiko Arkwright. When asked for her reaction to the appointment Ms Arkwright stated: "Emalet knows Ardia better than anyone else of the available field in the Achkaerin political system, she studied her rather odd university course choice of Law, Politics and Psychology at university in Athania achieving the highest possible qualification to her studies there, she has spent seven years working in the shadows helping me on a daily basis and standing in for me when I've been otherwise engaged, she has other advantages that she can make use of as well. When the Emperor asked my opinion on this office and who should hold it she was without question the only candidate for it in my opinion and I wish her well in her new job." Following the announcement Ms Silvermist gave the following statement:
![]() KAYLEIGH CARSON MAKES DREAMS COME ALIVE ![]() Two days of athletics in Tytor and things couldn't get much more interesting, a tight medal table towards the top end and medals aplenty, but it's not the success that's sometimes the most interesting thing. Sometimes it's the story, and as stories go they don't get much better than this one- Kayleigh Carson (pictured above #11), forty two years of age having never won a gold medal at any major championship in her long illustrious career and coming into the twilight years of her time as an athlete finally struck gold with victory in the women's ten thousand metres with Achkaerin's cross country hero's Britney Hammond and Olivia Swire adding to their personal medal hauls with silver and bronze respectively in the same event, Hammond would also take the gold in the three thousand metre steeplechase later in the evening but there was very much an air of 'run for Kayleigh' in the Achkaerin team for the ten thousand, something not lost on the winner who wasted no time paying tribute to her team mates after the end of the race. With three days of competition left history is set to be made, never before has a nation taken home one hundred medals in these games and with three days left Sparta presently holds ninety three, Ubakasa eighty eight, East Moreland eighty five and Achkaerin eighty four- so seven short, twelve short, fifteen short and sixteen short respectively. At the very least Sparta should break the one hundred barrier and all four will hope to. As for who will finish top of the medal table- well we'll be able to make a better guess on that after day fifteen's events but it's going to very close and may depend entirely on who has opportunities for medals in the elimination tournament events that have yet to be concluded. ![]() ![]() IMMEDIATE ACTION TO SAVE ECONOMY WILL BE TAKEN ![]() Winston Bobble- Gowu Home Affairs Councilor Normally a fall in the Toshikawan economy would not prove devastating for Gowu, since there are several avenues that could otherwise be considered. However thanks to the terms of the much criticized addendum to the Sakura-Umeko Accord the Rokkenjiman Ducat is now the supporting currency of both Rokkenjima and Toshikawa, this means that the performance of the Toshikawan economy directly impacts the Ducat's strength in relation to other currencies- add in the complications this throws up for the CSU and not only does it become complicated but it makes the 'Darxit' possibility seem nothing short of visionary. The CSU being affected is of more concern as that affects Gowu, citizens are understandably concerned what this could mean, business leaders have been holding talks with the Deputy Chief Councilor today, the Chief Councilor has been consulting economic experts and a few hours ago it was left to Councilor for Home Affairs Winston Bobble to issue a formal statement on the matter:
![]() ACHKAERIN'S ATHLETES MOUNT FINAL MEDAL ASSAULT ![]() Heptathlete gold medalist Hannah Nikaido Well we've had to wait a long time for it, but finally on day fifteen of the Mundus Games we have a day that has on the medal count belonged to Achkaerin. With medals coming thick and fast- bronze in the men's and women's 4x400m relay, gold in the men's 4x100m with a silver in the women's version. In the gymnastics Achkaerin's men scored bronze medals in the rings and floor, with a silver coming in the pommel horse. On the women's side Abigail Snowden took gold as Achkaerin pulled off a clean sweep on the women's floor. There was also a silver in the vault, on the baseball field Achkaerin's women took bronze. However it was the athletics stadium that saw the highlight moment from an Achkaerin point of view- Hannah Nikaido taking gold in the heptathlon, Nikaido a Lt in the Achkaerin Air Force wasn't predicted to do well but having won gold in the event at the Ostlake Military Games last year she had earned her spot on the team. Among the first to congratulate her was Prince Simon who said: "I know Hannah well enough to say that I'm effectively her training partner though not much of one since she puts me to shame every time we go out for a run. I was proud of her at Ostlake last year and I'm even prouder today." In terms of the challenge for top spot on the medal table it's a case of 'and then there were three.' With a maximum of six golds available to them and being seven behind Sparta on gold medals there's no chance of East Moreland repeating last years feat. So it's down to Sparta, Ubakasa and Achkaerin- Sparta and Ubakasa both have six opportunities, Achkaerin has nine but as various coaching personnel have pointed out the odds of Achkaerin beating Dijel in two rugby matches are 'slim to none.' while the teams manager Sir Gabriel Higginson has said "We'll try our best but we're under no illusions that despite having the most opportunities that our chance of top spot is the slimmest. But it's not our style to give up." [1] They have the Ducat as their currency as well and that place is a war zone Edited by Achkaerin, 3rd March 2016 - 06:25 PM.

![]() ![]() EVERYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO PROTECT WILL BE DONE ![]() Kirsty Tsu, daughter of Chief Councilor Xiaoling Tsu As tensions inside Toshikawa continue to rise, with a civil war seemingly inevitable, there have been questions asked in political circles about the course of action the Gowu Government intends to take, today that answer was given in a statement by Kirsty Tsu, the daughter of the Chief Councilor as well as Chief of Staff for Gowu:
![]() SPACE AGENCY UNVEILS NEW TELESCOPE AS FUTURE VENTURES TAKE SHAPE ![]() After a couple of months of quiet the Achkaerin Space Agency has announced it's future plans at the unveiling of its new radio telescope- the telescope named the 'Nicola Fernley telescope' after the present Director of Flight Operations is believed to be the most advanced such device on Mundus, it's unveiling led to speculation that the Agency was planning deep space missions, something proven when Nicola Fernley gave the following statement: "It's a little weird to have something like this telescope named after me, especially when I'm still alive. This telescope will allow us to monitor things at the furthest reaches of our capability in greater detail, we will be able to do things more efficiently. We presently have three ongoing projects the first involves sending probes to Marduk and Sehkma[1] these probes will be specially designed and we hope to learn more about these planets from the data we collect. The second project is the one we're presently most invested in- following the construction of our newest type of spacecraft the 'Constellation' type we have the capability to move much larger pieces of kit into space than we had previously, our intention is to go asteroid mining we will start with tests of the equipment on Luna and then Nergal to ensure that the variables stack up before attempting to find a suitable asteroid to mine. It is unfortunate that this mission was not set to go a few weeks ago otherwise the devastation visited on the UNP might have been preventable. Our final project is perhaps our most exciting, I won't be confirming more than the basic outline today but there will be more released as the project develops- we call it 'Science Star' we're talking about a long term planetary study of Nergal conducted from a small orbital facility by a team of astronauts using a variety of pieces of equipment and carrying out a variety of different tasks, we all know that eventually Mundus is going to become unsuitable for habitation for any one of several different reasons so the sooner we start acting towards alternatives the better." ![]() ![]() ALEXANDRIA SAVAGE CAPTURED - TO FACE TRIAL BY ROYAL COURT ![]() In a surprise twist to the rescue of Prince Isaac, Crown Princess Serenity and Princess Astrid that we've previously covered, it has now also been revealed that in the course of that rescue mission that the leader of the Enlightenment Alexandria Savage- the daughter of Lord Minister James Savage of Supreme Sovereignty was captured. The Marble Palace revealed this information to the press by means of a personal statement from the Emperor in which he stated that: "We didn't alert the press immediately because we felt it appropriate to inform the Supreme Sovereignty Government of this first. Alexandria Savage is in Achkaerinese custody and having reviewed the situation a decision has been made that she should be held accountable for her actions- due to both personal reasons on the part of Ms Savage and potential issues under the Mundus Convention of Universal Rights this will be done through a Trial by Royal Court, international observation of the process will be permitted but to respect the privacy of those involved we will be keeping the camera's out of the court on this occasion. I expect the verdict to be respected whichever way it goes." Trial by Royal Court is a surprising choice it's a process not used for over three hundred years- the last time was at the end of the Achkaerin Civil War when the Court of the newly crowned Empress Djana Azurewind exiled the Elsif family, the process as the name suggests involves the Royal Court including Royalty and the nobility sitting as an inquisitorial panel, hearing the evidence and then person by person passing judgement. Though somewhat antiquated it is still legal and many of Achkaerin's Senators have given supportive reactions to the Emperor's decision. ![]() SENATE SUPPORTS GOWU DECISION CALLING IT "COMMON SENSE" Minister for Cross Straits Affairs, Jonathon Hunt during his speech today Following comments made by Premier Abe of Rokkenjima Senator Jonathon Hunt, the Minister for Cross Strait Affairs gave a response during today's Senate session. ![]() ![]() NATIONAL TREASURES TO BE GIVEN SPECIAL VIEWING ![]() 'Bond Forged in Moonlight' by Edmund Adamson For the first time in many years several of Achkaerin's greatest treasures are to be given a special public viewing, the event has reportedly been in the planning stages for many weeks and following the discovery of the lost city of Alaris on the ocean floor it's been announced. The exhibition will see artifacts of Achkaerin's heritage that haven't normally been open for public viewing available for such viewing for the first time since the Emperors great grandfather sat on the throne- when asked to comment the Emperor stated "These works are the heritage of every Achkaerinese citizen, everyone should be given the opportunity to view them, this is why we're expanding the Royal Museum of Art in Valtheim to provide space in the future for these works to go on display." The main attractions are thought to be two groups of paintings- the first is a set of paintings by noted artist Edmund Adamson (1745-1820) best known for his works centred around the beginnings of Achkaerin's existence. The second group of paintings have a more global influence and are by the young artist Carth Vittori. The main attraction is likely to be the painting pictured above 'Bond Forged in Moonlight' something of a rarity in that it's a painting of an event in the first days of the relationship between Titus Achkaerin, who would go on to be the first Emperor of Achkaerin and Morgana Azurewind who would go on to be his wife. There's also a rumor that the IMS Arovium of the Blue Star Line may have been contracted to host the exhibition though that has yet to be confirmed. ![]() FOX'S WIN CONFEDERATION CUP OPENER Supreme Sovereignty 12 - 32 Achkaerin ![]() Percy Kanzaki scoring his try Achkaerin have won their opening match of the 2016 CIS Confederation Cup beating Supreme Sovereignty 32-12 to go top of the table after the first round on points difference from Dijel. Tries from Peter Matthews and Percy Kanzaki, both converted by Oscar Reynolds put Achkaerin in control and despite a Supreme Sovereignty resurgence in the second half the precise kicking of Reynolds with penalties kept the scoreboard ticking over, the result being a twenty point victory. Following the game the team's coach David Nightingale gave the following statement: "This is the sort of start we wanted, a winning start now we've got ourselves a chance of winning the tournament, we know if we're going to win this thing that we have to take it to the last game for winner takes all, not needing a specific winning margin so we'll look at this in the next couple of days and then start working for the Seaforth game next time out. Win that game and anything can happen." ARTAXIA BEAT FRESHWATER IN LATEST BOAT RACE BATTLE ![]() ![]() Forget Valtheim United v Valkyria Rangers at football, when it comes to Achkaerinese rivalries they don't come any fiercer than Artaxia University v Freshwater University on the River Seraphim for four point two miles. For the 161st time the men competed while for the women it was the 71st time. In near perfect conditions it was to be double delight for the underdogs of Artaxia as they edged out their rivals in both races winning by eight and ten seconds respectively, the victory in the men's boat race brings to an end a twelve year winning streak of Freshwater while on the women's side Artaxia have won for the first time in six years. |

It's impossible to call at the moment because no one knows the various stats on each others cars but come the end of the second practice session tomorrow we'll have some initial data to work with, providing of course that it doesn't rain. ![]() ![]() IUNCTUS ORDO UNDER THE MICROSCOPE AS AIR FORCE GOES ON STANDBY ![]() Sky Commander Sam Fernley during his statement The war between Austreos and Iunctus Ordo continues to rage on with rumors circling of precisely what is going on in the midst of it. As the situation threatens to spill out of control the Achkaerin Military has issued a statement delivered by the commander of the Achkaerin Air Force Sky Commander Sam Fernley in which he said: "What we have is a war going on on Aranye soil that is apparently motiveless, unprovoked and frankly unacceptable. We have agreed to allow the nations of East Moreland and Addysia access to the Antares base on Dauntel, while we do not at this time have the capability to deploy the Imperial Navy to the area in question the Achkaerin Air Force has been placed on standby, we will be flying missions to support Addysian forces for the moment. There is presently a resolution concerning this matter before the CTO Security Council, if that resolution is not dealt with in a timely manner or the situation on the ground drastically changes then the Achkaerin Air Force shall be forced into what we call a 'coalition of the willing' with nations who actually care about this sort of situation." ![]() HARRISON WINS SEASON OPENER ![]() Megan Harrison has won the first race of the Formula Mundus season in Vafleon, starting fourth the Riviere number two got a good start taking her up to second in the early stages, while behind her a second lap incident dropped team mate Z Kennedy down the field though she would recover to finish fifth. Megan held for two thirds of the race passing the lightning starter Rahman Hussein just after the second round of pit stops. After the race she gave the following reaction- "It's always important to get off to a good start in a season but I didn't expect to win we saw how fast the competition was in the previous two days so it's going to be a close season by the looks of it. Still though this is a more technical circuit, the track in Dijel will be different as will the conditions, we're still in the learning part of the season so we'll enjoy our time on the top for now." |

![]() ![]() MAYORAL CANDIDATE RECEIVES DEATH THREAT ![]() Andrew Richmond was either unphased by the threat or didn't let it show today as he addressed supporters With the Mayoral elections for Valtheim only two weeks away, the campaigning has been fast and furious for a while as the two leading candidates Andrew Richmond of the Patriot Party and William Parker of the Progressive Party have been wearing a lot of shoe leather into the pavement, however today the ante was upped substantially when an anonymous threat to the life of Councilor Richmond was posted online the message read: "For the crimes of his faith Councilor Richmond will pay with his life." The Councilor is a Christian which has led many to link the threat against his life to the situation unfolding in the Commonwealth of Mercia, the police are investigating the threat and all measures to ensure the Councilor's safety are being taken. Earlier tonight the Councilor did give a statement to the press concerning this matter:

King David is one of the most honorable and respected men on the planet and we see without a shred of proof his name being dragged through the mud by the tabloid press, now obviously the child's DNA is known as I understand it it is being held pending a potential paternity test from King David. I'm not about to call for him to take that test ultimately that is his decision but he will surely know that the longer this issue festers the more quizzical people will become as they wonder why that test isn't happening. ![]() ![]() GOWU 'DECLARES WAR' ON FAMINE ![]() Gowu Economics Spokesman Paul Myers appearing on television earlier today Following the revelations by the Free Mundus Network of the deteriorating situation in Toshindai as the famine continues to bite, the latest estimates indicating that the famine is responsible for the deaths of up to twenty five million people, the Gowu Government has today issued what they have termed a 'declaration of war' against the famine. The announcement was made by the Economics Spokesman Paul Myers who stated the following: "It is unacceptable that a famine of this magnitude goes unanswered and unchecked, that people in this day and age die from starvation. Considering how much waste food exists it is wholly intolerable. Well today the Government of Gowu says 'enough'. We hereby declare war against this famine we will send humanitarian and medical assistance to help these people, we will have our finest minds explore ways of patching the situation in the short term, but ultimately what is required in the long term is simple- Toshindai must be rebuilt and for our part we have no intention of washing our hands of our responsibility to help the people do just that. We will supply food and aid and I call on other nations to join us in this effort." ![]() KENNEDY ROARS TO EAST MORELAND VICTORY Z Kennedy has won the third round of the Formula Mundus season. Starting from second the Riviere driver got the best possible start as she was able to successfully pass home favorite Sam Holliday of Rytol into the first corner and from there it was a textbook race for her as she made both her stops and never looked back taking the flag with a gap of almost thirty eight seconds to her team mate Megan Harrison in second. For Megan the race was a little trickier she started from the second row and while Z was making hay Megan had to use patience, a change in strategy allowed her to pass Samuel Wood of Quality Auto Supplies and then eventually make a key move on Holliday to take second. And so a one two finish for Riviere Corporation Racing was secured. After the race the key players within the team gave their reactions: Z Kennedy (winner): "It's a fantastic feeling to get my first win of the season and to cement Riviere's early season start, the way qualifying yesterday played out we had a chance to steal a massive march on our rivals and we took full advantage. I'm happy with my performance in that I knew if I was going to win this then taking my chances was vital and I took the first one I got." Megan Harrison (second place): "I'm happy with second behind Z, today she was the better driver she had track position and she had the pace today, I had to concentrate on getting the maximum I could which considering the two other drivers I was fighting with was second. I've still got my championship lead, but it's still early days there are a lot of races left." Satella Watts (Team Principal): "I'm overjoyed with today's result both girls did a great job, Z took the lead and made the field eat her dust while Megan showed her race craft to make her way past two other strong drivers and take second. Now I know there will be people asking 'Shouldn't you have had Z move over for Megan?' the answer is quite simply this- we're way too early in the season to even begin considering team orders and even if were later on my answer will always be the same they are free to race, it is not my job to crown the champion through strategic decisions within the team, if these two are going to be in this title fight then they'll have to earn the title 'world champion' on the track." The result of today's grand prix leaves Riviere Corporation Racing atop the constructors standings with one hundred and one points while in the drivers standing Megan Harrison leads the way with fifty eight points followed by team mate Z Kennedy on forty three points. ![]() AKB48 LEADS ACHKAERINESE LINE AT GLASTOMUNDUS...AGAIN ![]() In a not so surprise announcement the Achkaerin applicants rumored to be performing at this years Glastomundus festival have been revealed. The leading act is Achkaerin's leading musical act AKB48, the girl group make their third trip to the festival this year, they are joined in the third time performer stakes by Sanna Neilsen and Alchemy Naismith. Other acts making reprises from last year are Michael Ball, Alfie Boe and Lea Salonga while Julian Ovenden and New Directions will make their festival debuts, the latter are coached by the Emperor's partner Renee Sandiego. While there aren't any surprises in the musical acts- it has also been announced that noted comedians Michael Mcintyre and Lucy Porter will form part of the line up in the comedy tent at this years festival, both are reported to be over the moon at the news or at least that's what they said as they rapidly started thinking of fresh material. |

![]() ![]() EARLY SUCCESS AT SECOND ROUNDTABLE ![]() In the last few hours it has been revealed that there has been early success at the Second Roundtable Conference in Gowu. The Conference chaired by Crown Princess Serenity and Rokkenjima has apparently had its first major breakthrough with an agreement between the three 'Toshindai states' the Crown Princess has given the following comment to the Achkaerin media. "I don't think anyone expected it would be as easy as it was to get this initial agreement it could be that outside factors have played a part but we have got a signed agreement between Rennyo, Karisto Kakumei and Snow Flower Hold, it is a treaty that ensures their peaceful co-existence, their mutual prosperity and mutual security, it also most critically leaves the door to potential reunification later on wide open. It is not a success to be understated this treaty the Edelweiss Concordat effective ends the war in Toshindai. But that is not the end of these talks we must now turn our attention to the famine in Toshindai and look at ways to cope with that issue in the short term whilst also looking at the long term solution of rebuilding Toshindai. In tandem with that the Achkaerinese, Quintaxian and Rokkenjiman delegations will negotiate their own agreement that will further shore up the independent existence of the three 'Toshindai' states. Hopefully I will be able to confirm further progress at a later time." ![]() CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PREVIEW ON COMPETITION'S EVE ![]() The Mundus Champions League, the most prestigious club competition in the world and it's about to start again. Last year saw IFK Krokom stun the world and win it all, though perhaps the semi pro Northfort United making it to the final was the bigger story. This year sees forty teams vie for the title, five of them are Achkaerinese as Leonaise, Valtheim United, Valkyria Rangers, Ivyfield Wanderers and Dovah City take on the best from around Mundus. So what chance do they have? Let's start with Valtheim United, they're a top side, great squad, great depth and they play very solid attacking football. They also have a world class manager in Peter Massey, I know he won't mind me calling him a wily old fox because that's what he is. His experience of the game and how that helps him turn games around will make Valtheim United a tough team to beat, they also boast arguably the best goalkeeper on Mundus in Gary Tyler. They've been drawn in Group A which won't necessarily be an easy draw but they've got every chance of progressing to the later rounds. Valkyria Rangers are at the other end of the spectrum from Valtheim, they're a team that seems to have lost its way, despite a top four finish this year the fans are growing impatient for success and failure in the Champions League could see their manager Thomas Spencer out of a job, as a fellow manager I don't like to see colleagues sacked but there does come a point when these decisions must be made. Valkyria are despite all of their off the pitch pressures the Achkaerin Championship League's highest scorers this year thanks largely to their so called three magicians of the second line Daniel Vilani, Matthew Kirkvist and George Mattimeo, had all three been fully fit throughout the season then these three youngsters could have brought Valkyria glory but injury's conspired against them however all three appear fit for Thursday's opener against FC Crete. It'll come as no surprise that this is the club closest to my heart Leonaise F.C, where I won three consecutive league titles, Emperor's Cups, where I shattered the glass ceiling in sport and broke down the gender barrier. I always like watching Leonaise play, because they're allowed to play with a freedom, fluidity and speed that suits them, they play according to the situation something I got them doing and something my successor Mika Dawson has made sure to continue. Leonaise made the semi finals last year and they have the most pressure on them out of any team in this years competition- why? Well the absence of any Quinntopian team makes Leonaise as the Achkaerinese league champions the bookies favorite for the competition and with good reason they have on paper an easy ish group draw, they have Shaun Griffin and Lucas Williams the centre back partnership for Achkaerin at international level, the country's captain Robert Kinnay in the midfield not to mention MFA World Cup goal scoring record holder Danni Leonidas up front. They will be a tough team to beat. For the romantics among the Achkaerinese fans this is probably the club to pull for- Dovah City. Not got those world class star players of the big teams, not got the budget to compete either but they run themselves ragged week in week out to mix it with the best of them. Harry Naughton has got them playing a style that works for them and yields results. They'll hope to punch above their weight in the competition and while not many will think they'll do well- anything can happen in football. Ivyfield Wanderers almost shattered the Achkaerin footballing establishment this season, they had the title all but won going into the last weekend all they had to do against Leonaise was avoid defeat and what happens? Robert Kinnay finds Danni Leonidas in the last minute who fires home to snatch the title. Still Ivyfield will be proud with that success though how much psychological scarring there is after coming so close to winning the domestic title is yet to be seen and that will be the true test for Eric Waterstone's men, but there will be a level of confidence among the fans. |

![]() ![]() STATEMENT ON COMMANDANT WESLEY - A BRAVE MAN FALLS ![]() Royal Press Secretary Hannah Cartwright on Breakfast this morning giving a statement on the late Commandant Wesley (right) As has been reported across Mundus the ruler of Supreme Sovereignty Commandant Randy Wesley has been killed during a speech during which the Commandant paid tribute to the soldiers that had fallen. With the future of Supreme Sovereignty now a major talking point attention has shifted to Crown Prince Isaac and his wife Achkaerin's Crown Princess Serenity. An official statement issued by the Marble Palace was given by Royal Press Secretary Hannah Cartwright on Breakfast this morning:
![]() HUNT ON DARXIT, SOUTH HILLS AND THE FUTURE ![]() The former Vice-Consul now Minister for Cross-Straits Affairs, Senator Johnathon Hunt has spoken about several things during an interview at the Headquarters of the Cross-Straits Union in Dartfordia. On Darxit: "Firstly let's be clear that at present this is a possibility not a certainty we have yet to see Prime Minister Cleaver's proposed reforms and even then this would need the agreement of Rokkenjima, Eisendorf, Quinntopia and Luvonia in addition to ourselves. Let's also dispel the myth that Darxit would mean no trade deals between Dartfordia and CSU nations, what is likely to be ruled out is an East Moreland-CSU style trade agreement but this does not prevent Dartfordia from doing deals with individual countries within the CSU, would Achkaerin do a trade deal with Dartfordia? Probably. After all we have to get our trains from somewhere don't we? Though as an aside let's just remember that Darxit would have one major change for the CSU, we'd be looking for a new home." On South Hills: "It's a good thing Santos beat out O'Donnell, otherwise the amount of high level conversations going on between various governments would have meant that some of Mundus's politicians wouldn't be sleeping for a few days. The result means that the likely protests and such in the event of the alternative won't now occur and that the measures that were being considered won't be taken. I congratulate President Santos on his re-election." On the future: "It's an interesting future unfolding before us, Rokkenjima's withdrawal from the CSTO creates a much more stable future in that the last of the 'aggressive orientated alliances' by which I mean an organisation whose military is a sword not a shield has lost its most significant member, ultimately a lot is going to depend on how long it takes for the CTO to accept that it needs a serious amount of reform, some of this Evanthe Rhodes has achieved but there are area's it needs to go to and it is going to be the challenge to the next Secretary-General whoever it may be to pick that baton up and run with it. The key will be ensuring that the position of the CTO remains as it is- the supreme organisation on the planet. " ![]() ACHKAERIN SPACE AGENCY SUCCESSFULLY TESTS MINING DRILL ON LUNA ![]() The Achkaerin Space Agency has announced the success of their first test of their new drilling machine. Dubbed the 'Mole' the machine is essentially one huge drill designed to enable exploration of extraterrestrial bodies by burrowing beneath the surface. The current success marks the clearing of the first hurdle as Director of Flight Operations Nicola Fernley explains: "We're essentially just doing a three stage test of this equipment for future use, at the moment we've got success on Luna, next we'll see what happens when we drop her on Nergal and then if all goes to plan we'll see what happens on an asteroid. The telemetry will help Riviere Corporation design other variations of the equipment for other environments. What we're looking towards in the future I'm not going to say because we're nowhere near ready for that yet." ![]() CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BACK WITH A BANG ![]() Matthew Kirkvist heads Valkyria Ranger's winner against FC Crete After the first round of Champions League games the Achkaerinese teams are all smiles, Valtheim United ran out three nil winners against Roberton AFC courtesy of a James Kazmierczek hat trick, Leonaise routed Grpyhon F.C five nil establishing themselves as strong contenders early on- the pick of the goals there being a free kick from Robert Kinnay. Ivyfield Wanderers played out an epic three all draw with FC Oahautica while Valkyria Rangers took a little heat off manager Thomas Spencer with a crucial one nil victory over FC Crete thanks to a late header from midfielder Matthew Kirkvist. So for the moment it's all smiles but this is only one game in there are seven more games to come for these teams before we get to the knockout stages. |

![]() ![]() REACTION TO GENOCIDE CLAIMS ![]() Following revelations made in the Free Mundus Network the international community has been left seemingly scrambling for cover, with dismissals in places, strong statements and promises being made. Today however when Crown Princess Serenity was asked about it during a routine interview she struck a surprise tone giving the following statement:
![]() Aside from the CTO the other organisation implicated by the statements of Zavala is the CSU, this has prompted a response from Achkaerin's Minister for Cross-Straits Affairs Johnathon Hunt who took a break from campaigning for Dartfordia to remain inside the CSU to address the allegations: [2] [1] OOC- sorry but at no point was it RP'd or even mentioned to me and with Matt inactive it should have been. [2] I would just like to give a big thanks to CGJ for steering me in the direction of the site where the two images were put together (link) It makes it look a lot more interesting and cooler. ![]() ![]() ROSLYN BRIDGE DESTROYED IN TERROR ATTACK ![]() The Roslyn Bridge that connects the Achkaerin mainland to Meridian island has been blown up in what is believed to be a terrorist attack. Early indications are that the rail and road bridge succumbed to a detonation from a bomb aboard an express train. The investigating authorities have not yet disclosed further details except that they presently estimate around one hundred people have been killed in the incident though they expect that number to be revised upwards in the coming hours. There has been no claim of responsibility at this time and seemingly no motive for the attack. ![]() LIONS LOSE OPENING TEST ![]() The CIS Lion's have lost the opening test of their three match series against East Moreland's Honeybadgers by a score of 24-21. It was the tight game everyone expected with both sides playing to a high standard. With effectively only a penalty kick separating them in the end there is plenty of optimism in the Lions camp for the next test in Portworth at the weekend as Coach David Nightingale explains: "We've given them a good game tonight and on another night we might have been the winning team but we've shown that we can mix it with the best now we'll spend the week working on tightening up on our weaknesses and planning ahead for the game in Portworth to try and take the series to the deciding game in Northfort." ![]() DOVAH CITY LEAD ACHKAERINESE SUCCESS IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ![]() There was more success for Achkaerinese teams in the Mundus Champions League on the second match day. With Valtheim United and Leonaise F.C sitting this round out it was down to Ivyfield Wanderers, Valkyria Rangers and Dovah City to uphold Achkaerinese traditions, and they did their country proud. Valkyria Rangers were able to earn a 2-2 draw with Roberton F.C away from home, Ivyfield Wanderers won out in Dartfordia with a 3-1 victory over Berk Wanderers while in Rosegarden Dovah City stole the show by thrashing Rosegarden United 4-0 thanks mainly to a hat trick from striker Nick Mizuki, their manager Harry Naughton described the win as "Near perfect." |

![]() ![]() WILL SHE OR WON'T SHE? CROWN PRINCESS FOR SECRETARY GENERAL? ![]() As the present term of the CTO's Secretary General nears its end, the rumor mill has once more started concerning who may replace Evanthe Rhodes in the leadership position, so far there have been hints that defeated Presidential candidate Amadeus O'Donnell of South Hills may run for the position. Closer to home the rumor mill seems to have started regarding the possibility of Crown Princess Serenity making a second bid for the position, the Crown Princess who lost out to Birgit Strand not that long ago has continued to expand her political CV adding the Edelweiss Concordat to the list of her accomplishments. When asked to comment on the rumors during a trip to a nursery school this morning the Crown Princess stated: "I am considering my options as to whether I throw my hat into the ring or not. However following recent events such as the Andean Genocide and CSU scandal I have to consider even more carefully what I could bring to the table to guide the CTO past this present crisis and to ensure it never happens again. If I believe I have the right package of reforms and initiatives then I will run, if I don't think that I won't." |

![]() ![]() ROKKENJIMA STILL NOT HELPING ITSELF ![]() Tensions at the CTO over the Andean Genocide continue to mount with Rokkenjiman stubbornness at the fore, in response to the latest statement by Charles Ofdensen Cheryl Holmes, the lead Achkaerinese delegate, has stated: "I'm now beginning to wonder if Mr Ofdensen is even sat watching the same debate as myself and every other delegate. It is very clear from what Mr Zavala has said in the course of the debate that Nueva Ardia believes that war crimes were committed by Toshindai forces following the implementation of the Addendum to the Sakura-Umeko Accord otherwise he has no reason to name who he has named. This is precisely why the resolution seeks to establish a tribunal to investigate what happened both before the addendum and after it because the only legitimate response to this situation is to satisfy within international law the accusations made by the Nueva Ardians. Mr Ofdensen would do well to stop being obstructive because it only serves to damage what very little is left of Rokkenjima's international credibility and help the CTO establish the tribunal proposed in the resolution so that it can do the job that needs doing which may include at its conclusion the exoneration of Rokkenjima in this affair, but it is the tribunal's place and not Mr Ofdensen's to determine Rokkenjima's involvement if any. ![]() ![]() RESOLUTION WILL STAND: SECRETARY GENERAL ![]() It's been another busy day for Crown Princess Serenity in her capacity as CTO Secretary General, the issue of the Andean Genocide does not seem like it will go away, but comments made in the Rokkenjiman Press have not impressed at the Palace of Nations nor have they impressed the Secretary General as she stated: "It's simple enough an abstention is an active decision not to cast a vote therefore they do not count this means that Resolution #0005 has a 75% majority in favor of passing it. That's more than the two thirds required under article 17(2) it is therefore safe, the resolution Rokkenjima brings is clearly baseless and shows a considerable lack of understanding of #0005, demonstrates a lack of respect for the CTO to the point of contempt and only adds more fuel to the speculation that Rokkenjima has in this instance something to hide. It is nothing short of insulting to the CTO that rather than address matters that are more urgent such as a contentious application and Security Council reform that we have to rebuff a Rokkenjiman counter. The resolution was fairly passed, Rokkenjima had ample opportunity to present an argument and now we are seeing once more the equivalent of toys being thrown from the pram, to the point where I'm certain my eight month old daughter has a better temperament than Rokkenjima. It is a disgrace that Rokkenjima insists on pushing for something that it has already lost, no guilt has yet been apportioned it is subject to an investigation which will hopefully be headed up by Nya Aland's Minister of Defence or failing that a representative from the ICJ, if there are guilty parties to be found in Rokkenjima then they will be prosecuted it's that simple and if Rokkenjima continues to protest this before the CTO then the organisation will have little choice other than to take action against Rokkenjima, now no one wants to see a nation acted against where the cause isn't justified but let's be clear Resolution #0005 is of significant enough importance, it is legally correct and was correctly put through the process and implemented correctly, there is nothing illegal about it, therefore that resolution will stand all Rokkenjima will achieve in this is drawing perceived guilt." In other CTO news there have been unconfirmed rumors that East Moreland's Harry Samuelson has been offered the position of Deputy Secretary-General. ![]() HALF TERM REPORTS IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE REPORT ![]() At the halfway point in this years Champions League all looks good at this stage for Achkaerin's teams, Valtheim United are away and clear at the top of Group A and will go into the next round of games knowing that if they win and results elsewhere go their way then they could qualify for the knockout round. Leonaise F.C will likely have to wait longer but they're well on their way in Group D. Dovah City find themselves in the tightest group where the top four teams in that group all sit on the same points tally, so every point is going to be crucial there. Valkyria Rangers and Ivyfield Wanderers will both hope to continue their good form. The odds of them all progressing are in all likelihood slim but so far so good. |

![]() ![]() EMPEROR PAYS TRIBUTE TO A "GREAT WOMAN" ![]() Emperor Peter has today paid tribute to the former Head of Longhouse in the UNP Willa Sunbrek, Ms Sunbrek died in the tragic events of the meteor strike in the UNP some days ago, speaking the Emperor said the following: "When people talk of great men and women they think of the likes of royalty and military, people who have made themselves known to the world through some act of greatness as if planting a flag atop a mountain. But true greatness is not sought, it is thrust upon you and that was what Willa Sunbrek had. A woman chosen to lead what was at the time a fairly minor nation and look at the work she did- the Uppsala Convention will perhaps be her greatest legacy and there can be nothing more fitting for a tribute to as a great a woman as Willa was than by remembering her proud achievements, that is what we must remember about this woman, that is our tribute to her. In fact the greatest honor that Mundus can pay such a selfless woman is for nations not signed up to the Uppsala Convention to sign it." It is believed that the Emperor will be attending the funeral of Ms Sunbrek in the coming days. In other parts of his weekly interview the Emperor has confirmed that orders for the Achkaerinese military to lend support to East Moreland efforts in Mercia have been issued. ![]() PREPARATIONS FOR NYWALN UNDERWAY ![]() The Chief Executive of Avalon Mr Jared Cohen has today announced that preparations for the annual Nywaln are well underway and on schedule, they are in fact expected to be completed within the week. Nywaln is the name of the annual swell and storm that buffets the Achkaerin west coast around a month prior to the arrival of the regular storm season. In years gone by there has been great concern around this storm but in the present, Avalon's unique design and the innovations it embodies take a sizable chunk of the storms edge off, lessening the blow on the mainland significantly. Speaking today Mr Cohen said: "We're on schedule, we've finished the inspections of the tidal defences, the hydro-electrical turbines, the wind turbines and our lightning transformers and they all check out. Our present priority is the preparation of the evacuation shelters and underground safe zones. We're trained for this, we know what we're in for, we know that we're looking at an average of three days of stormy weather and we know that a couple of years ago it was five days long. We're not going to start taking chances, the city will be ready and do what we've done for the last nine years we'll take the sting out of the Nywaln." ![]() BOWIE ROCKS GLASTOMUNDUS ![]() The world's biggest music festival has taken place and it's been some year for it. The big surprise was that Achkaerin's David Bowie headlined the Pyramid Stage on the Saturday night playing to an audience reported to be around 130,000 with some of his best hits including Space Oddity and Life on Mars. Ably supported earlier in the evening by Alchemy Naismith who on her third successive Glastomundus pulled in the crowds and on the same stage on Sunday so did AKB48. Former Mundovision entrant Sanna Neilsen played on the other stage on the Monday while Alfie Boe played there on the Sunday. And speaking of the Sunday there appears to be a rapidly forming festival tradition whereby certain Achkaerinese Acts get put together as a block and perform at the Big Top to ease everyone out of their hangovers this year this most interesting of newly branded tradition fell to Julian Ovenden, Michael Ball, Lea Salonga and the Three Tenors. But it was Bowie on the Saturday that stole the show becoming the first Achkaerinese act to headline any stage at the festival and if this year's anything to go by he will quite likely be back in years to come. |

![]() ![]() ROYAL HUNT BECOMES TERRORIST TARGET: EMPEROR SERIOUSLY INJURED ![]() The Emperor with Marqueeza Emma Elsif and Count Oliver Weiss before the hunt began In the last hour the annual wildcat hunt of the Royal Hunt has been attacked by terrorists. The event taking place in Crystalline Valley represents a reminder of the Azurewind family's victory over the Elsif's in the Achkaerin civil war more than three hundred years ago. Today's hunt was supposed to be remembered for the symbolism of the Marqueeza of the Valkyrian Coast Emma Elsif taking part instead it became the scene of destruction. Eyewitness's reported hearing three explosions and gunfire, the end result is that thirty five people have lost their lives and fifty two have been injured. A total of seventeen horses have had to be put down, remarkably however none of the hounds were injured. Among the fifty two injured is Emperor Peter, whose condition has been stated as follows by Royal Physician Maddy Dale "The Emperor has lost a lot of blood, his condition is serious but stable, early indications are that he has suffered a spinal injury but he is expected to in time recover from that. The more pressing matter is that it has been necessary to amputate his right arm beneath the shoulder, it is safe to say that his schedule will be affected by this. However at the same time we are not leaving anything to chance his condition will be closely monitored for signs of infection due to the rather 'interesting' nature of the amputation. There will be regular updates on his condition." ![]() VALTHEIM UNITED FIRST TO QUALIFY Valtheim United have become the first team to book their place in the knockout rounds of this seasons Mundus Champions League with a 2-0 victory over AFC Roberton. Goals from winger Rory Doherty in the first half and striker James Kazmeirczek (pictured above) in the second half secured the victory but that was only half the equation, qualification was sealed when the other Group A game between Dynamo Gaia and Mars FC finished 1-1. Speaking after the game Peter Massey the manager of Valtheim United said: "We played well, we kept our shape, we kept our discipline and did everything we could. We didn't expect to qualify tonight but it was sure difficult to not keep one eye on events in Lodja. As it is we've qualified with three games to spare but we're not quite done yet, now we go and try to win the group, once we've done that we can look forward to the knockout rounds." Elsewhere in the Champions League there was a big 6-0 victory for Leonaise F.C away from home which effectively means they've qualified for the knockout stages though mathematically speaking they still need one more point to be certain however considering their dominant goal difference in the group they are effectively through. Ivyfield Wanderer's scored a 5-0 victory over FC Oahautica to stay top of Group H, while Valkyria Rangers continue flattering to deceive with a 1-1 draw at FC Crete. Next week will likely see the progression of Leonaise F.C, one of the teams many fancy to go all the way and win the tournament, however nothing is certain. ![]() ![]() JACOB SUMMERS- CAN HE SAVE THE CSU? ![]() Now that the Peninsular War Crimes Tribunal has delivered its findings the Cross Straits Court of Justice inquiry can also get underway, leading that inquiry is as has been reported in the Dartfordian Press Achkaerin's Jacob Summers. Speaking at the pre-inquiry conference this morning Mr Justice Summers said the following:
When asked what he thought of the present argument being made by Rokkenjima in relation to events Mr Justice Summers said "As a legal professional I have to say that Rokkenjima on the face of it does not have a case, it seems perfectly clear that the Secretary General executed only the powers granted to her in appointing three nations. If they wish to challenge the appointments then they must bear in mind events from Birgit Strand's time in office but they must also be careful when citing their proposed Borland resolution. No doubt this will be painful for some in Rokkenjima to hear but on that particular issue Achkaerin's representatives in the General Assembly were correct, simply because there are two scenario's aside from a 'No' vote where resolutions at the CTO fall, the first is when they lose their legal foundation as was the case with the attempt to strike Resolution #0005, the second is when they attempt to beyond the powers of the CTO, this is what happened with Rokkenjima's Borland proposal- it was rightly argued not only by Achkaerin but also by Lahkzovia and Tytor that the CTO does not have the power to grant or with hold sovereignty and yet Rokkenjima's resolution clearly indicates a clear desire to have the CTO effectively say 'Borland isn't sovereign' well that was never a concern, legally speaking the question of Borland sovereignty was for Zimalia to answer not the CTO." ![]() NEW TOYS FOR THE MILITARY ![]() Following one of the most hushed development stages in living memory (spanning six months) around Riviere Corporation they have today announced the development of a new vessel for the Imperial Navy, though specific details as to performance have not yet been released, Imperial Navy Command has stated "This new class that we hope to call the Astrid Class is designed to be a long range multi-role vessel that will hopefully boost both the Northern and Kyne fleets." Additionally the Achkaerin Air Force is getting a boost with the introduction of the Bat class aircraft (pictured above) pitched as a partner for the already in service Robin Class interceptor, the Bat is reported to be a VSTOL aircraft with a strong armament though no specifics have yet been given. Both the Bat and the Astrid class are expected to undergo trials in the coming weeks. |

![]() ![]() THE CYBORG EMPEROR? ![]() ![]() The Marble Palace has today revealed that the Emperor Peter yesterday afternoon went under the knife for the purposes of attaching what is being described as a 'bionic' arm, to all intents and purposes it is superior to the standard prosthetic and will allow the Emperor the use of his new right arm, the arm comes with several special features such as a built flashlight, smart watch and apparently he can even control a small off the shelf drone from it- though he is reportedly annoyed that it doesn't come with a cup holder. Royal Press Secretary Hannah Cartwright following the announcement of the operation also confirmed that the Emperor is expected to take time off to recover from his other injuries which include what is believed to be temporary paralysis, though it is thought that the Emperor will keep his appointment to attend East Moreland's Festival of Sail. On the subject of the Festival of Sail it is believed that Prince Simon and his wife Lydia will be in attendance with their three year old twin daughters Princess Aeolia and Princess Lamia, this will mark the first trip abroad for the young princesses and the young girls are supposedly very eager to see somewhere new. ![]() ![]() ROKKENJIMA BREAKS TREATY: FINAL CHANCE OFFERED ![]() Following the latest developments in the ongoing discord between Achkaerin and Rokkenjima Lady Kristina Ayanami the acting head of state has issued the following statement: "I would have thought better of Rokkenjima than to breach international treaties- Article IX of the treaty we have with them is clear: 'This Treaty shall remain in force until in the opinions of the Governments of Rokkenjima and Achkaerin it no longer serves the best interests of the Parties. However, after the Treaty has been in force for ten years, either Party may give notice to the other Party of its intention to terminate the Treaty, in which case the Treaty shall terminate one year after such notice has been given. We're presently six years short of the ten year point mentioned in the treaty meaning that both governments have to agree that this treaty has no future purpose- and following discussions with the Achkaerinese cabinet we in fact disagree, we believe that such a dramatic shift will only serve the interests of those who wish to cause trouble, or would the imperial government have us believe that there is no correlation between their conduct and the now several genocides going on across the face of the planet. Many nations with shall we say questionable leaderships look at Rokkenjima this great bastion of 'international principles' and see them shrug off all responsibility for their actions- we see Yuriko Faust lie to the General Assembly, we see Charles Ofdensen conduct himself in a manner not becoming of a former Secretary General, we see Rokkenjima submit resolutions to the CTO without legal foundation or beyond the remit and powers of the organisation and then continue to pursue those resolutions that is definitely obstructive and that shows contempt for the CTO, we see Rokkenjima say one thing and then not follow it up, we see Rokkenjima awarded command of CTOMM with a promise of 30,000 troops committed to the action that don't materialize, we see a failure on Rokkenjima's part to consult with affected parties prior to the Mentorship of Toshindai- a consultation that could have upwards of thirty million lives. This emboldens a lot of nations, they see that supposedly one of the most respected nations on the planet can get away with something and they imitate it, they see a nation that does not live up to its word, they see a nation that they, as Toshindai did, take advantage of. Rokkenjima may wish to continue with this illegal action but if it does we will sue them for breach of treaty before the ICJ, and if they shrug that off then we remind them that they cannot cherry pick aspects of a treaty to keep in play and aspects to kick into touch. If they want to continue with Article IX illegally then we'll disregard the mutual defence clause and we'll demand the removal of all Rokkenjiman assets and personnel from QCMB within forty eight hours. Rokkenjima wants to mention the tribunal? Go right ahead, but Rokkenjima needs to understand that nowhere was it stated that the Tribunal was a court of law, it was an investigation that was required to report its findings and make recommendations on how to proceed, based on the evidence that investigation found the logical progression is that charges be brought and the people responsible face justice. If Rokkenjima desires a second investigation then fine we won't prevent it but the evidence is still there and still clear, any investigation will look at that, Rokkenjima would do better to back off and present their defence in a court of law rather than during the investigative phase. And as for any suggestion about the present CTO Secretary General, Rokkenjima should bear in mind that the Crown Princess was a lot fairer than she needed to be- she gave Rokkenjima enough time to submit a withdrawal[1] when this didn't happen she exercised the power of her office to dismiss the resolution, something that she would have been well within her rights to do the second the debate opened. We also refute any suggestion of Achkaerin pursuing unequal diplomacy- that is defamatory because there is no proof. Compare that to legitimate implications drawn about Rokkenjima from recent history and the difference is as clear as night and day- Achkaerin's relationships with East Moreland, Dijel, Supreme Sovereignty and Dartfordia to name but a handful are all based on equality, we hope to establish a new one with Protoa and rekindle an old one with Veduro based on this principle. To be perfectly honest the Achkaerinese leadership is fed up of being dictated to by a nation that gives a very good impression of thinking it is owed something by the world for past glories, Rokkenjima needs to wake up and realize the time it now is and that it's contributions to international security lately have been found wanting, the USR is gone, WARSAW is dismantled and the most pressing concern right now is the amount of genocides going on, yet while troops from Achkaerin and East Moreland, in terms of CTO nations, stretch themselves to breaking point with the help of others to try and contain this Rokkenjima continues to argue about something that is yet to come to court. As far as we are concerned this is the last chance Rokkenjima is going to be given, we extend the invitation one final time to Rokkenjima to open up a line of communication with us and resolve this now. Finally if Rokkenjima wants to do something sensible and useful in the current climate then it can start by formally declining to enforce the international arrest warrant issued by Mercia for Tim Carpenter, doing this will at least help resolve the situation in Mercia." ![]() ![]() MARQUIS OF SOLARIA ASSASSINATED ![]() The body of Lord Ian Jackson, the Marquis of Solaria, was discovered at his home this morning. The only official comment has been that the Marquis died from gunshot wounds in an apparent execution. It is believed that the Marquis's death was perpetrated by the same people responsible for the attempt on the Emperor's life and the destruction of Roslyn Bridge in recent weeks. It is expected that Lady Kristina Ayanami will consult with the Emperor in the coming days and name the new Marquis as soon as possible. ![]() PREPARATIONS FOR ROYAL ARTISAN EXHIBITION BEGIN The Royal Artisan Exhibition is a Gowu tradition dating back years, it was given the royal seal following the reclamation of Gowu in 1986 and subsequent referendum. Each year the exhibition showcases some of the best work from across Achkaerin and more recently Mundus as a whole, and to add a little spice to the occasion each year an art student from Gowu university is asked to provide the central exhibit, there has been one notable exception to that rule when Carth Vittori was selected two years ago. This year the honor has fallen on the daughter of Gowu's Chief Councilor (and god daughter of the Emperor) Kirsty Tsu. When asked for comment Ms Tsu said "I am presently in the initial phases of construction with luck I shall have four out of the five pieces completed within a fortnight, the final piece is however potentially going to run right to the deadline." Ms Tsu is a sculptor and as a first year student at Gowu university breaks new ground with this exhibition, or at least she will in the next few weeks. ![]() PARKING GOES CONTACTLESS IN MINISTER'S TECH DRIVE ![]() ![]() A car park in Freshwater becomes the first car park to be fully outfitted with three contactless car parks (right) Minister of Economic Affairs Matthew Patterson As part of the Minister of Economic Affair's 'Tech Drive'- a plan to keep Achkaerin competitive and prosperous in an ever evolving world the government today unveiled improvements to three car parks in the city of Freshwater with a further two being announced in Saika. These aren't new car parks so what could possibly be interesting? Well the method of payment is- these car parks utilize contactless payment. Speaking earlier today Minister Patterson said "This is common sense and has been planned for a while, by giving people the option to use contactless we massively decrease the waiting time, ease worries and reduce the amount of lost chips in car parks, it's something I'm happy to see happen and while we're only trialing it for a couple of months at the moment we do expect good results and then we may see this rolled out across the nation." ![]() MOVE OVER HERE COMES H2O ![]() Artaxia University's science department has revealed its intention to build a car that uses water as its fuel source. The car dubbed 'Seahorse' is a joint project between the university and Riviere Corporation's R&D division and rather than pursue sophisticated means of renewable energy powering cars this one boasts to be 'less technical' as it utilizes a tricky but not so tricky switch between gasoline and water- and the best bit is that it doesn't matter where the water comes from in terms of source. Project leader Clark Franklin from Riviere Corporation has overseen the project, when asked for comment he said "It's a major undertaking and we at Riviere have barely been involved if this works the credit goes to the students at Artaxia, we only got involved to double check their working and to give them the solid backing they needed to get a set of wheels from a car manufacturer, hopefully all the simulations will be proved accurate and within a few months we'll have a working prototype out on the road." |

![]() ![]() HOMECOMING DAY ![]() In a surprise announcement earlier today the Dominion of Veduro announced that it will be seeking a return to protectorate status in regards to its relationship with Achkaerin. This is something not seen in the relationship between the nations in the last seventy years. The move which comes at the same time as negotiations between the Achkaerinese and Veduran governments also supposedly includes a trade deal, easing of travel restrictions and an exchange of embassy's. The Imperial Senate is expected to debate the matter next week where it's believed that Consul Michael Williams and Vice Consul Rhian Kennedy as the leaders of the coalition government will call for the Senate to pass an Act formerly supporting the will of Veduro in this matter. The Act is expected to receive broad support across the Senate but there are rumblings from the Achkaerin Workers Alliance and Progressive Party that there may be opposition to this, though neither party has the influence to prevent such a broadly supported move. The Marble Palace has yet to issue a statement on the matter and it is believed that the Royal Family and Court will wait and see what the result in the Senate is first. ![]() CTO MUST ASSERT IT'S POSITION AND VALUES OR LOSE BOTH ![]() Crown Princess Serenity during her interview Crown Princess Serenity, the CTO Secretary General has given an interview following the latest round of debates at the CTO, during the course of the interview she spoke about the Mauxi Genocide and the continuing saga of the Andean Genocide.
![]() ACHKAERIN SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH PROTOA ![]() the proposed Chrysalis base forms a central highlight of the agreement Achkaerin and Protoa have signed what is being touted as a significant agreement that according to analysts is right up there with already existing agreements between Achkaerin and the likes of Rokkenjima, East Moreland and Dijel. The agreement reportedly includes easing of trade, easing of travel restrictions, aid for Protoa's new space program, a commitment for a CORAL facility in lake Escarion and what are being termed 'military matters'. These military matters reportedly include officer exchanges between Achkaerinese and Protoan forces, periodic joint military exercises and most notably an exchange of military facilities. Protoa has been permitted to construct a base named Cadia on Achkaerinese soil, in exchange Achkaerin plans to build Chrysalis base towards the most westerly point of Protoa. It was the responsibility of the Emperor's niece Sakura Sheppard to negotiate the agreement and she gave the following statement: "As the world changes nations need to change their way of thinking, old alliances while beyond comparison should not be what is settled for, nations need to establish new relationships to achieve a safer world, given the present state of Mundus where we see genocides go unanswered, an increase in tensions and the usual amount of international position jockeying, if anything we've seen an increase in the latter situation. Today we have a deal that increases our own security and that of our friends and allies." |

![]() ![]() RIVIERE HITS TOUGH PATCH ![]() RCR drivers (left) Z Kennedy and (right) Megan Harrison, pictured in Tytor last weekend Following wins for Sam Holliday of Rytol in Dartfordia and Tytor, there's been a noted concern from fans of Riviere Corporation Racing that Megan Harrison's championship lead has been eroded down to seven points to her own team mate Z Kennedy. However as the Formula Mundus paddock rolls into Kaiser Adolf the team principal Satella Watts has stated: "A season like this is full of ups and downs, everyone goes through a rough patch but we're the early season leaders so when a driver has a bad couple of races everyone starts to wonder if we're losing our edge- it's only natural. But we've had a look at the track out here in Kaiser Adolf today and we look set to have another tough time of it, but there's a long way to go and both championships are still up for grabs." Both drivers also gave comments with Z Kennedy stating "We're not even thinking about the titles it's way too early in the season for that, Megan's where she is on merit she's been the consistent driver, we'll bounce back." meanwhile championship leader Megan Harrison said "I know I've not had a good couple of races but these things happen, Rytol's had the car working well the last couple of races so now we have to weather the rough patch and then start thinking about what comes next." GROUP STAGE EXIT COSTS SPENCER HIS JOB ![]() Following a rather unimpressive Mundus Champions League campaign Valkyria Rangers have today sacked their manager Thomas Spencer. The team crashed out of the Champions League in rather spectacular style- despite winning their final game against Greenville F.C on the pitch by a score of 2-0, the conduct of the teams fans both before and after the game was so poor that the MFA with the authority of the MSC reversed the result and awarded Greenville a 3-0 walkover in an official statement the MSC President Naomi Lewington stated: "No organisation that forms part of the MSC tolerates hooliganism in sports events, we take a zero tolerance approach to this. These sorts of acts have no place in sport and sadly the only way to send the message to the fans that it is not acceptable is to punish the clubs themselves. In this case the result was reversed and Greenville progressed at the expense of Valkyria Rangers." In an official statement Valkyria Rangers said that they "Respect and understand the MSC's action but note that the decision to dismiss Mr Spencer was based on poor team performances throughout the competition." There are numerous candidates thought to be lined up as potential replacements for Mr Spencer and a decision is expected in a few days. In related news there are two Achkaerinese teams in the quarter finals of the Champions League- Valtheim United face Hammerfell People's after taking Charlette Saints out of the competition, while Leonaise F.C will face the defending champions IFK Krokom in a repeat of last years semi final. ![]() ![]() UFO OVER VALKYRIA ![]() Holiday makers on Valkyria beach today spotted what is being officially defined as an Unidentified Flying Object. The object reportedly streaked across the skies at immense speed and high altitude- one holiday maker was able to snap the picture shown above on their phone. Civilian Authorities have stated that no civilian aircraft was flying in the area at the time. This has led to several conspiracy theorists beating the drum for the old favorite the 'Night Fury' conspiracy as explained by popular UFO theorist Gary Thomas: "This photograph is the strongest proof yet that the Night Fury exists, the Achkaerinese government and military have denied for decades that this plane exists, let's see them deny it now." The Achkaerinese Military has not commented as yet. ![]() IÑARRA AND POSTEL LIGHTING UP AZREA ![]() ![]() (left) Garaitz Iñarra of Greenville (right) Élyie Postel of Larston Several Achkaerinese players are presently playing in the Azreaan Football League, most of them are the hot prospects for the future the youngsters transferred out to gain experience before coming home. But two big names stand out bucking the trend Garaitz Iñarra and Élyie Postel, both play centrally in midfield though Iñarra plays slightly deeper than Postel. Both are however giants of the Achkaerinese game, Iñarra's range of passing and set piece expertise are loved by many fans and Postel's knack for timing the late run right to nick goals is something acknowledged by Dame Julia McCabe (Achkaerin's international team manager) to the point where Élyie Postel is the preferred midfield partner for Robert Kinnay however injury has denied Postel the opportunity to compete internationally over the last few years and with the fifth World Cup looming up on the far horizon there's speculation that both players may yet make it into the squad. For the moment however both players are happy where they are for Garaitz Iñarra this is an opportunity to help a much younger Greenville F.C team develop and mature by sharing all his footballing wisdom and experience, for Élyie Postel it's a chance to rediscover his form at Larston and if the results are anything to go by he's accomplishing this. Both also seem to be attracting major fan followings within their new clubs something that Garaitz Iñarra has described as the "opportunity to inspire the next generation." and Élyie Postel as "A reminder that the fans are why we go and give it our all when we play." We'll be bringing more updates on the Achkaerinese players involved in the Azrean League as their stories through the season develop. |

![]() ![]() FUTURE OF CSU ON KNIFE EGDE AS DARXIT LOOMS LARGE ![]() On the eve of the referendum concerning Dartfordia's membership of the CSU, there has been great interest generated internationally by the situation. Where it once looked like a certain victory for the remain camp it is now on a knife edge. Speaking on Dartfordia's Andrew Marr Show the nominee for Chair of the Cross Straits Council Madison Gayle the leader of the Achkaerinese Liberal Party, subject to the vote on her appointment in the Cross Straits Parliament, gave the following remarks to some key questions: Has the Rokkenjima situation damaged the chances of Dartfordia staying in the CSU? "Of course it has. Leaving aside for the moment the very serious questions of Rokkenjima's long term leadership and the capability of the Empress to lead that nation as it stands, it doesn't help to see a lack of decisive action especially when one minute Rokkenjima has stated support for Nova Ardia, then reviewed it and then thrown in behind Ionia. It simply demonstrates a lack of direction, a lack of focus which understandably transfers to the Dartfordian voters because it makes people wonder if a similar indecisive nature may be applicable to policy regarding the CSU." What's the future for Dartfordia-CSU relations in the event of Darxit? "If that happens and I stress if then the CSU has to decide on an approach. Achkaerinese representatives at the CSU have been clear that they would not support a CSU-Dartfordia agreement similar to the one presently enjoyed between the CSU and East Moreland. Instead Dartfordia would have to look to establish individual agreements with the CSU nations, something I'm sure the government of Dartfordia is capable of doing but it will take time, the Dartfordian's have to decide whether they think their country is capable of being stable enough at all levels during that time. Because this must be a rational decision, not a knee jerk." If confirmed as Council Chair later today what are you hoping to be doing tomorrow? "If the Cross Straits Parliament confirms me later today then tomorrow I will be sitting down across a table from Prime Minister Cleaver and negotiating the only question is whether it will be the reform package that fell at the CSU summit or the start of a Dartfordian exit. I hope it's a remain victory because I believe we're stronger together especially in the current climate but if it's a leave vote then that must be respected." |

The predominantly lighthearted interview did have one serious point- when asked what he thought about Councilor Taylor's comments the Prince gave the following answer:
![]() INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR OPENS EDELWEISS FESTIVAL ![]() ![]() One of the reasons the Edelweiss Festival is eagerly anticipated is that knowledge of the opening act on opening night. This year was no exception and it didn't disappoint as taking to the stage in the Royal Concert Hall were the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Ellie Lampard accompanied by special guests from East Moreland 2Cello's. The performance was a mixture of classical and more modern. This was explained by Ms Lampard afterwards saying "It's great to finally perform what we've been working on for years. We started collaborating with the East Moreland guys a couple of years back, and we've been working on an album ever since, tonight we got the chance to perform it and we're ecstatic with how it went, I have to say a special thanks to the boys for agreeing to come along." The collaborative album titled 'Eternal Harmony' goes on sale on Friday. [1] In Achkaerinese eyes the title of Empress is a birthright so technically Adrianna holds that not Evanthe. |

![]() ![]() FORMER QUINTAXIAN NOBLE NAMED IN ROYAL COURT SURPRISE ![]() Ever since the death of Ian Jackson the former Marquis of Solaria at the hands of domestic terrorists some weeks ago there has been a vacant seat among the major six seats in the Achkaerinese Royal Court, today it has been announced that the seat is to be filled by former Quintaxian noble Joan Du Toit.[1] The announcement has prompted great interest from several quarters with many people wondering why Ms Du Toit was chosen, the Emperor was unavailable for comment but Royal Press Secretary Ms Hannah Cartwright has stated "The Emperor never makes decisions lightly, they always involve a period of consultation with relevant people, a great deal of thought and then before a final decision is made a review of the decision making process to ensure that there has been no erring in the logic. Ms Du Toit is a long standing friend of Achkaerin and her appointment was supported by a majority of the Royal Court." While the Royal Court has approved and legally that is all that matters, Senator Brian McHale leader of the Puritan Party has been stirring up tensions in Liberty Hall, in addressing a session of the Senate he called the appointment a "Scandalous betrayal of the Achkaerinese people." though this has been vehemently opposed by a majority of Senators the present public attitude towards the appointment is one of confusion with many people expressing a string desire for a more personal explanation of the reasons from the Emperor- the Marble Palace is presently considering this. PRIESTESS TRIES TO CALM TENSIONS AT HOME ![]() Priestess Hinata Akido, who leads the Cult of Helus in Achkaerin has sought to address the concerns of some members of the Cult domestically following statements made by former Priestess Jinny Denman over in East Moreland. Speaking this morning Priestess Hinata said "This is a common problem with many religious texts of many different faiths, they exist for the time they were written at least in the most part they do. Saying that the purest blood is reserved for the nobility is a very by modern standards archaic sentiment, these days everyone including Royals marry more for love than anything else and I find it unlikely that any Deity of any faith would wish unhappiness on their followers. Though what angers me most about Miss Denman's statements are those surrounding the late High Priestess. Let's not disgrace the memory of a great woman by suggesting that as a victim of the most serious of sexual assaults that she is to use Ms Denman's words 'a whore' Joanna Ironside deserves better than that and so does Arch Duchess Sophie." ![]() COUNT RAVENSWOOD EXPECTED TO HEAD UP DIALOGUE WITH ROKKENJIMA ![]() Count Emerson Ravenswood of Saika has according to rumors been chosen to head up the Achkaerinese side of dialogue proposed by Rokkenjima to try and patch up the relationship between the two states. The Count is seen as a moderate voice in the debate in that while he supports the positions taken by the Emperor and Lady Kristina he doesn't advocate the blame being at Rokkenjima's feet but more down to a simple lack of understanding coming from Pyrena and a lack of willingness to explain coming out of Valtheim as a direct result, in a recent ad hoc statement the Count said: "It's clear enough to those in the know that the goals sought by Achkaerin and Rokkenjima are common goals they just have differing philosophy's about how to go about it, the problem is that the arrogance of the previous regime in Pyrena often resulted in knee jerk statements being issued that hindered both countries chances, the issue of accuracy in such statements is one that the new Rokkenjiman regime must address but there's not a lot else that can be faulted at this point since we have yet to establish whether this new regime is going to be more of the same or something different. However this can all be sensibly controlled if when one of the two nations does something that raises an eyebrow the other asks privately what's going on because speaking as someone who knows more than he's allowed to tell, Rokkenjima would be mightily surprised to learn the answers to questions they haven't bothered to ask." This is believed to be a pre-emptive measure as explained earlier today by Minister for agriculture and the environment Siobhan Williams: "Last year the Emperor, with the support of the government, made it clear that this was a cultural issue and this year we maintain that position, there are adequate safeguards in place according to other sources so as long as they don't end up hunting an endangered species everything should be fine. We've placed our naval assets in the area on alert because the sheer logistics and scale of the hunt mean that it's possible trouble may occur and if it does then it's possible that our obligations under the Fair Seas Concordat will require us to render assistance, we also haven't forgotten the steps taken by some last year in protest and while we note the change in attitude coming out of Rokkenjima we are aware that there may be others who would seek to cause trouble so we hope to at least in part deter such a thing from happening." The main ship affected by the order is expected to be the INS Ninetales (pictured above), one of the navy's Sovereign Class cruisers which has since the end of formal operations in the UNP been patrolling the Sea of Alucard combating piracy, people trafficking and smuggling while the region affected by the meteor strike recovers. ![]() CONSUL ECHOES PROBERT ON CTO CONCERNS ![]() As the Imperial Senate prepares to formally return from its Summer Recess Consul Michael Williams has been elaborating on the governments plans for the next Senate term these include initially the budget, as well as matters at home and abroad but perhaps most intriguing of all was a remark concerning the CTO: "I think Sally Probert's got the right idea. The CTO is supposed to be a multi-national organisation where all members contribute to the efforts of that organisation, now while this seems to work fine on the debating floor it doesn't seem to translate to the military operations undertaken by the CTO. You can't even call them CTO operations in all honesty they've been combined operations primarily between ourselves, East Moreland and South Hills. The only exception being Mercia where of the CTO members it was ourselves and East Moreland only. It's completely unacceptable that two nations whose combined army strength barely scrapes over a million men should be shouldering two thirds of the burden most of the time when you have other nations with larger armed forces that sit and do nothing, the international community needs to pick up the slack because one day, one crisis the leaderships of East Moreland, Achkaerin and South Hills will say 'no.' and then what's going to happen? Either the CTO gets it act together or it abandons the idea of having a Security Council all together because at this point that organ is worthless. And if it can't get its act together then tough decisions will need to be made by this government." It hasn't taken long for political analysts to conclude that the implication made by the Consul is that the relationship between Achkaerin and the CTO as an organisation may well be up for review. ![]() FOXES READY FOR WORLD CUP ![]() The Achkaerinese Rugby Team affectionately nicknamed the Foxes are ready for the World Cup, at least according to head coach David Nightingale (pictured above). The team has arrived in Vaguzia, trained well and appear focused on the task ahead of them. The team is as follows: 1. Daniel Hakate, 2. Charles Nikaido, 3. Jack Colt, 4. Peter Matthews, 5. Shaun Davies, 6. Keith Hughes, 7. Brian Hennessey, 8. Luke Wiltshire, 9. Oscar Reynolds, 10. Tovan Holtz (Captain), 11. Samuel Wilson, 12. Phillip Dawson, 13. Simon Colt, 14. Jason Leonidas, 15. George Bolt, 16. Johnny Ransome, 17. Matthew Sadler, 18. Harry Knight, 19. Ralph Kendal, 20. Lucas Ainsworth, 21. Gary Hayden, 22. Percy Kanzaki, 23. Norman Irvine. Coach Nightingale has said the following about the team's chances: "We've as good a chance as anyone else has of winning this thing. The absence of Dijel essentially pours all the pressure onto the Honeybadgers, and we know how they always rise to the occasion, when you consider that it took a 'dream team' of Dijeli, Achkaerinese and Revanan players playing 'no mistake rugby' to win a series against them in East Moreland you understand just how good they are- but even champions can succumb and there are unknown teams in the mix here but the biggest shake up is the group stage format with six teams per group this isn't about fifteen players this is about the whole squad, everyone is going to need to play their part for teams to progress to the quarter finals." Achkaerin's first game sees them up against Quinntopia, on the football pitch this is the biggest rivalry in the international game, in rugby it's not as big but given the amount of pride both nations take in their sporting prowess the match is sure to be a hotly contested one. ![]() EDELWEISS KID'S NIGHT PUSHES FUNDRAISING TOTAL AHEAD OF EXPECTATIONS ![]() The Kids night on the fifth night of the Edelweiss Festival has pushed the total of money raised thus far ahead of schedule. Event organizers had hoped to be on close to ∑4,000,000 after the first five days but with performances from Lea Salonga, the McClain Sisters, Demi Lovato (pictured above) and others the total presently stands at ∑4,983,117- almost an entire million iso's ahead of where they thought they'd be. Such a statistic has raised a few eyebrows with the organizers, most believing that the more mainstream broadcasting and easier accesibility of the festival has this year made a significant difference. The Silvermist family who organizes this each year has also issued the following reaction to events thus far: "We are pleasantly surprised and astonished at the success of the festival thus far, when we hit our target for opening night we thought things looked good but to be almost a million ahead of target with nine days still to go is beyond what anyone though would happen. We are now confident that we will surpass the target of ∑45,000,000 we set in the build up to the event and we once more express our gratitude both to those who have already donated but also to those yet to donate the people who will benefit from this will never be the same again, you will have made such a difference." As in previous years the charities funded by the donations are to do with child welfare, injured service personnel and fighting poverty. And with the second week including the major names of Achkaerinese music there is cause for optimism. On a related note in attendance at last nights show were Princesses Aeolia and Lamia along with their parents Prince Simon and Lydia Daniels when asked what they thought of the show afterwards the Princesses said that it was "Awesome." ![]() ![]() LEONAISE WIN DRAMATIC CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL ![]() Robert Kinnay heads the winner in the dying moments In a dramatic night of football at the King Robert Arena in Northfort Leonaise FC defeated the Lodjan team of Spartak Leubin 2-1 to lift the Mundus Champions League trophy. After falling behind early on in the first half it took until the last twenty minutes for Leonaise to hit back which they did thanks to a moment of brilliance from striker Dani Leonidas, worried fans were suddenly jubilant but better was to come as in the dying moments of added time a cross into the box met the head of captain Robert Kinnay to steal the win at the last possible moment, cue joyous celebrations in the stands and back in Leonaise. It is a great achievement in of itself but will go down in Achkaerinese history because Leonaise have also won the Achkaerinese Championship League and Emperor's Cup this season. To unpick such a great season for this club we've compiled two special reports on the clubs leaders. The Manager: Mika Dawson ![]() Before taking up my position with the Men's team all of three years ago now I was the Leonaise FC manager, Mika back then was one of the coach's on my staff. But even back then her talent as a potential manager was obvious she could get the best out of the players, she did the homework on the opposition and when I heard that she was my replacement I was happy that the club had been trusted to safe hands. Since then she's taken the club up a few levels, the style of play that I established there she has managed to see evolve, she's trusted to an investment in grass roots football rather than big name international signings and forged a strong team with a squad of great depth and ability. She's been brave as well along the way this season, some have questioned her team selection at times but she's managed to balance the various games and pick the right players at the right time- there aren't many who would have wanted to bench James H'Daen for the Emperor's Cup final but with last nights game on the horizon it proved an inspired choice. I was once referred to as the exception in a male dominated profession, well I don't think I'm the only established name there any longer. Mika's a close friend and she's earned this the hard way, she's proved a great many things this season and will hopefully continue to do so. The Captain: Robert Kinnay ![]() No doubt Robert will nag me for agreeing to write this article on him but if there's one thing that should never be underestimated in sport it is the captain's spirit. Thanks to the way that the Achkaerinese system works I was able to play alongside Robert at the junior levels where we got nicknamed the 'brother and sister midfield team' even then it was obvious that he didn't just have the talent to play the game, he had something else that none except the best coaches can give you- he had a 'never give up' attitude, he was always the sort of player that never left anything in reserve so when he was made captain of Leonaise five years ago he took that attitude with him and it seems to have become contagious among the players, the team quite simply doesn't know when it's beaten and if things look bad he seems to be able to find a way to lift them. |

![]() ![]() FOXES WIN WORLD CUP OPENER ![]() The Foxes have won their opening game of the Rugby World Cup beating old rivals Quinntopia 25-18. Tries from forward Jack Colt and Brian Hennessey coupled with the accurate kicking of Oscar Reynolds gave them the edge at the break and as the game took its toll physically it was the bench that proved strong with the final try coming from substitute Matthew Sadler, but throughout the boot of Reynolds was pivotal to the victory. Afterwards Coach David Nightingale said: "We played well and everything went to plan for us, we need to tighten up defensively a little because seven point games are not something I enjoy, but our offence was strong and we gave the Achkaerinese style of rugby a good polishing against very tough opposition so I'm happy." ![]() EDELWEISS ENDS FIRST WEEK UP ON TARGET ![]() The Edelweiss Music Festival has reached the halfway point with the total funding amount so far standing at ∑15,000,000 on the dot. This is ∑30,000,000 down on the final set target but the event organizers are optimistic ahead of the second week that not only will that target be met but will be 'smashed' because according to one source 'All the big acts are in the second week and watching the last night is something of a tradition in the country.' this afternoon performances from Michael Ball and Alfie Boe brought the fundraising total steadily up. Whether the optimism of the organizers is well founded or not is still to be seen. But what is for certain is that tomorrow evening's performance will be significant as PRISM brings their unique performance style to the festival, the ice rink is going in over night and will hopefully be performance ready by curtain up tomorrow evening. |

![]() ![]() CROWN PRINCESS REMAINS IN OFFICE AT CTO FOLLOWING "ELECTION THAT NEVER WAS" ![]() In a big shock at the CTO Crown Princess Serenity has retained the position of Secretary-General for a second term despite not running in the recent election cycle. How has this happened? Because there were no nominee's so she has retained the position by virtue of being the present incumbent this has since been termed the "election that never was". Today she gave what had previously been expected to be a reflective interview but is also now for this reason forward looking.
![]() IONIA OPERATIONS UNDERWAY ![]() Harpy fighter jets flying over the Ionian Coast hours ago It has been confirmed tonight that operations authorized by the CTO in respect of the situation in Ionia have begun. The action code named Operation Nightshade went into effect some three hours ago and at the moment is in its early stages as the CTO force moves in to establish the DMZ part of its mandate. Speaking at a press conference earlier General Kakashi Fuji announced the action as follows: "As of twenty two hundred hours Achkaerinese Standard Time tonight the CTO forces committed to my command have begun to execute Operation Nightshade this is an operation with three prime objectives, the establishment of the DMZ along the Ionian-Nova Ardian border, the return of law and order to Vienra and then finally the distribution of humanitarian aid to the Ionians. Through coordination between the respective forces involved we will see a peaceful resolution to this situation and I hope that once the DMZ is established that the parties will come to the table and agree a mutually acceptable path to the referendum on Vienra's future." When asked what he thought about the Dominion of Crissar's (Quintax) apparent threat against the CTO forces the General said: "We're not overly concerned, worried maybe but it won't stop us from doing our jobs." ![]() PRISM DAZZLE AT EDELWEISS ![]() PRISM's MAR's unit headlined the groups performance Day eight of the Edelweiss Festival and the night was handed over to the most unique act in Achkaerin- PRISM. The group that mixes ice skating with dancing and singing made its festival debut with a close to full repertoire, opening up with their RAINBOW unit and proceeding through the others until finishing with their MARS unit. A special encore from two of the RAINBOW unit at the end of the night broke records alone as it's transpired that it alone raised ∑30,000 alone according to analysts, or at least that's how much money was donated during the encore. The group have stated that they enjoyed performing at the festival and look forward to enjoying the rest of it. The total for the festival now stands at ∑23,000,000 and with tomorrow night featuring Alchemy Naismith that total will surely rise ever closer to the set target. |

![]() ![]() PATTERSON GIVES "PROGRESSIVE" BUDGET ![]() Minister of Economic Affairs Matthew Patterson in Liberty Hall earlier today It's budget day in Achkaerin, and there was a little more interest than in recent years since this was the first post Darxit budget. However despite the various possible economic implications of the Dartfordian exit from the Cross-Straits Union, Minister of Economic Affairs Matthew Patterson maintained an upbeat tone throughout the address.
In response to the statement leader of the opposition Endeavour Party Senator Syusuke Park said that Mr Patterson's budget was Flim flam and failed to pin point where the money for several key elements was coming from. The budget debate itself is expected next week. ![]() LEONAISE F.C SHOW OFF TROPHY ![]() Leonaise F.C today showed off the Mundus Champions League trophy they won against Spartak Leubin. In an open top bus parade through Leonaise. Thousands lined the streets to cheer the team through the city, in the city square where the parade ended onlookers would have been hard pressed to find anywhere that wasn't decked out in red and gold colors. The party atmosphere continued well into the night. It also provided the opportunity to get the thoughts of the teams manager Mika Dawson a few days after their historic victory, she said: "As the boys would say this is for each and every Leonaise fan. We got a chance to take a trophy we were fancied to take last season and this time we made no mistake. We wanted this from the first game of the group stage against Gryphon F.C to the final a few days ago. I just hope King David of East Moreland wasn't in the stands cheering for the Lodjan's otherwise I think we may have spoiled his evening. But I also want to pay tribute to the players each and every one of them put their body on the line when they had to and did everything asked of them and more to win the final. I'd have liked an easier time of it, but as the manager I'm bound to say that. It's been a momentous season for us, to win all three competitions we were competing in is something I don't think will ever be emulated but we'll sure as heck try." ![]() ALCHEMY TURNS SOUND INTO MUSIC AT EDELWEISS ![]() On day nine of the Edelweiss Music Festival it was time for the first of the three big name's to take to the stage. Alchemy Naismith put on a fabulous performance going through most of her greatest hits from the last few years. The total started the night at ∑23,000,000 but by the end of the night was ∑36,000,000 nine million iso's short of the pre festival target. But there are still five days of the festival to go and at this moment no one is speculating on what the final total will be. |

![]() ![]() MOLE DEPARTS FOR NERGAL TEST ![]() The Achkaerin Space Agency has today seen the lauynch of the second stage of its Saint Barbara program, the program which is designed to test the capability of a drilling machine dubbed the 'Mole' has previously seen success during tests on Luna. Now though the bar is being raised with Nergal as the new testing ground in an official statement the Achkaerin Space Agency has said: "It's important for potential future projects that we establish the capability of the Mole to work in the actual conditions it may be required to work during in the future. We are also very eager with this test to see how the close in remote control capability will work, because if it doesn't then the end objective of the program is essentially at this point a bust." The mission sees the return to space of David Anderson, Lucas Murray and Sophia Kiriya, best known for their exploits in the Athena program. When asked about the announced agreement concerning the Tarragonan EM Drive Director the ASA Gary Hale said "It's a significant step forwards if this works. The potential implications of the drive are huge for our area. We're hoping to clear the Saint Barbara program before we begin working with this new piece of kit though, but I don't think anything dramatic should be expected from us when time comes to try it out." ![]() FOXES CHARGE INTO QUARTERS ![]() Captain Tovan Holtz scoring his try against Elpidia Achkaerin's men's rugby team have maintained their perfect record at the World Cup in Vaguzia winning their fourth straight game, after victories over Sparta, Quinntopia and Dartfordia last night the Foxes ran out 24-12 winners over Elpidia to secure their spot in the quarter finals. Tries from Luke Wiltshire and captain Tovan Holtz were backed up by the ever reliable boot of Oscar Reynolds as the scoreboard was kept ticking over and Elpidia kept out of the game. Speaking afterwards Coach David Nightingale said: "It was important that we qualified from the group tonight because we didn't want that still up in the air going into the Vaguzia game. In a tournament like this any game against the hosts is going to be tough and we don't want to add to the atmosphere, as it is tonight we've been professional, we've played our game and we've got the result and our place in the last eight, now we go and try to win the group." ![]() μ's DASH PAST EDELWEISS TARGET ![]() Day ten of the Edelweiss festival and it was the turn of up and coming groups to have the stage, the night was headlined by μ's, a group based out of Gowu making their first concert appearance outside of the city after headlining the closing night of Mundus Pride earlier in the year. The nine strong girl group brought energy, sparkle and a touch of showmanship to the night as they took the cumulative total past the pre event target of ∑45,000,000, it now stands at ∑60,000,000 with four days to go. Even when they were ahead of the target the organizers were cagey about would they hit the big number of one hundred million iso's but tonight rumor is that they are quietly confident of hitting that mark and possibly going beyond it, though a lot rides on tomorrow's headline act as AKB48 take to the stage. ![]() ![]() LAKHZOVIAN PRESIDENT HAS PLENTY TO ANSWER FOR ![]() "President Kadassa has some serious questions to answer" well at least that's the opinion of Sakura Sheppard, niece of the Emperor and Sheriff of Leonaise, Ms Sheppard who is presently in attendance at the Wilderness Conference in Nya Aland was speaking in response to events in Lakhzovia. In an informal question and answer session prior to the conference beginning Ms Sheppard stated the following: "No matter how tragic the crime every criminal is entitled to due process you cannot simply tear up the rule book just because it's this sort of crime or it's this ethnic background. The response of President Kadassa to the events that unfolded last night is questionable at best and downright wrong at worst. The death penalty is abhorrent regardless but to execute prisoners before they've even been afforded a fair trial, a right recognized by the majority of the nations on Mundus, is completely and utterly disgraceful.[1] To deny this right of the accused is to make a mockery of justice. And what is even more alarming, if that's even possible under the circumstances, is that this use of power by the Lakhzovian President is apparently completely legal. This just seems completely wrong that a head of state can bypass the judicial process on a whim, granted there are other nations that have the death penalty but at least they also ensure that everything that comes before it is fair and just. What President Kadassa has done is lower himself to the level of those who attacked his nation and made a mockery of everything he claims to stand for, he has tarnished his standing in doing so and will have some serious questions to answer when the dust settles." IMPERIAL NAVY READY TO PUT ROKKENJIMAN'S TO THE TEST ![]() The INS Phoenix operating in the Sea of Alucard earlier this week The Achkaerinese Imperial Navy is reportedly looking forward to putting their Rokkenjiman counterparts to the test. With a Rokkenjiman battle group visiting Achkaerin's Chrysalis base in Protoa this provides the opportunity for the two navies which both stand as two of the best on Mundus to see how they stack up against each other. It will be an opportunity for the Circe Class frigate (pictured above) to test it's capabilities against some of the most advanced weapons systems on Mundus. While it is also expected that the Rokkenjiman ships will get to experience first hand the various methodology's of the Achkaerinese Navy in order to test their own weaknesses. There has been some suggestion that the visit and subsequent exercises are a knee jerk to the situation with regards to Protoa's recent actions over in the Rokkenjiman Sea however according to Minister of Defence Adam Sheppard- "This is not the case, this visit and these exercises have been on the books for a while, we just hadn't decided where they would be, with the situation in Ionia being what it is it meant that we couldn't use Antares because we needed to keep the lanes around Dauntel clear, so we settled for Chrysalis." The sight of the Imperial Rokkenjiman Navy in an Achkaerinese base has apparently been popular among the various naval officers but the prospect of taking the Rokkenjiman's on in some specifically designed exercises is seemingly topping that and no one need worry about them playing with kids gloves as was explained by Captain Anja Frost of the INS Amaterasu: "Today we're all naval officers and sailors that love ships and being at sea so we're naturally inquisitive around each others toys. We're planning on some joint testing, but when we get the call to go to simulated drills with Rokkenjima in the other corner you can bet we're going to put everything into it and yes we intend to give them a damn good thrashing." On a final note when the base commander Brigadier Xiaoyu Ibarra was asked about deployments to Scordisci she said "No Comment" ![]() AKB48 TURN HOPE INTO EXPECTATION ![]() No introduction necessary, no warm up acts necessary, such is the standing, reputation and size of Achkaerin's best known musical group. AKB48 took the stage at the Edelweiss festival tonight and did what many hoped they would do- push the fundraising total higher than any had dreamed it could go. It was ∑60,000,000 at the start of the night and by the end it was ∑90,000,000. An energetic nights work in which the depth of the group was used to good effect saw the greatest single night of the festival so far. A spokesman for the group said the following "We always look forward to events like this because we're told to perform for the night, it's something we can do because we have enough songs and members to do it." So three days to go and the total sits at ten million below the unthinkable one hundred million mark. Many now expect this mark to be beaten with one major group left tomorrow, the special guest performance on the penultimate night and then the traditional last night, analysts are even speculating the total could be smashed with a surplus of twenty million though not even the organizers are commenting on that. ![]() ![]() KILLER OF MARQUEEZA IN APPEAL AGAINST SENTENCE ![]() Danielle Leonidas, the former Marqueeza of West Water, murdered eight years ago The murder of Danielle Leonidas is an event that shook Achkaerin, eight years ago on the 15th of July the former Marqueeza was gunned down as she spoke at a ceremony that marked the completion of the city of Avalon. The killer, George Hughes, was arrested three months later and convicted a further six months later. Now eight years after the event Mr Hughes is appealing against his sentence on the grounds of 'Misinterpretation of the case law on the part of the judge, denial of right to a fair trial, incompetency on the part of his defence team and prosecutorial malpractice' according to his legal team Mr Hughes "Was let down by the legal system, he was convicted on the most tenuous evidence and that is evidence that is questionable as to relevance and origin." the said evidence includes a confession Mr Hughes alleges was forced and a recording of a conversation between Mr Hughes and a middle man that Mr Hughes has continuously claimed never took place. Mr Hughes has always maintained his innocence and believes that he was made a 'scapegoat' and that the real killer is still out there. When asked for comment Olivia Leonidas, Danielle's daughter and the present Marqueeza of West Water said "Eight years ago I was fourteen and I lost my mother, my sister Maia was twelve, she wasn't there but I was I saw my own mother killed by a sniper. I still have dreams about that day, I sat in court in days listening to the evidence and I am convinced that the right man was sentenced. So to have this suddenly revisited is not what I or my sister need right now." A date for the appeal is expected to be set within the coming days. ![]() CROWN PRINCESS WARNS AGAINST PULLING THE TRIGGER ![]() Crown Princess Serenity has today warned the international community against pulling the trigger on the situation in Scordisci, the Crown Princess who is the serving Secretary General of the CTO was speaking during a three day visit home where it is expected that she will attend the last two nights of the Edelweiss Music Festival. When asked about the situation in Scordisci she had this to say:
![]() FOXES PROGRESS TO SEMI'S ![]() Achkaerin's men's rugby team have won their World Cup quarter final defeating Ui Cenneslaig 28-15. In a tight physical game it was all about the last fifteen minutes as the Fox's found their second wind and cut loose. Tries from Matthew Sadler and Percy Kanzaki proved the difference late on in a game that was dominated more by the boot than anything, fortunately for Achkaerin Oscar Reynolds remained calm under the pressure. Next up for the Fox's is a semi final against defending champions East Moreland, it's not going to be an easy game by any means but being the underdogs will send the Achkaerinese in with no pressure. ![]() STARLIGHT BURN BRIGHT ![]() Day twelve of the Edelweiss Festival saw Starlight on the stage and it saw the total rise. The group which rose to prominence last year stealing the Christmas number one spot in the process put on a performance worthy of their standing as an up and coming act. As for the total it has risen from ∑90,000,000 to ∑110,000,000 and there are still two nights to go. There is plenty of mystery surrounding tomorrow nights performance with seemingly no one knowing who is listed to perform. [1] subject to a load of...don't ask. ![]() ![]() ACHKAERIN TO GIVE SCORDISCI HUMANITARIAN AID ![]() As the situation in Scordisci continues to escalate, the Achkaerinese government has announced that an agreement to provide humanitarian aid to Scordisci has been reached. This will involve the INS Nebula one of the Imperial Navy's hospital ships making port in Scordisci, the question of course remains what will the Ui Cenneslaig navy do since they presently sit in the path of this aid effort, when asked this question Royal Press Secretary Hannah Cartwright stated "At the present time we would hope that King Finley would realize that humanitarian aid to Scordisci is not something to play games about, they need it and they've accepted what we're offering, we're hoping that as both Achkaerin and Ui Cenneslaig are members of the Joint Emergency Team that the shared values in that team will come to the fore here." When later asked what effect the events in Cantabria would have on Achkaerinese policy the response was "The Achkaerinese government has yet to form an opinion on that. We would prefer all the facts before being rushed to judgement" |

![]() ![]() EMPEROR GETS ENGAGED DURING SURPRISE FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE ![]() Emperor Peter and his fiancee Renee Sandiego Emperor Peter and his girlfriend Renee Sandiego have announced their engagement. The announcement comes following a surprise performance by the Emperor on the penultimate night of the Edelweiss Festival. It has been revealed that the Emperor proposed during the performance which also featured tributes to his family including a special one for his deceased wife Duchess Iona Azurewind. In an official statement the Royal Press Secretary Hannah Cartwright has said "The Emperor and his partner Renee Sandiego are pleased to announce their engagement, and look forward to their life together. Details regarding the wedding will be made available in the coming days and weeks." The announcement has been greeted with celebration in Achkaerin while the Royal College of Music in Valtheim, where Ms Sandiego teaches, has reportedly been hanging hurriedly made decorations to celebrate the announcement around the campus. In terms of the festival the Emperor's performance raised ∑40,000,000 making the grand total with one night to go ∑150,000,000. The Marble Palace has also refused to comment on suggestions that the Emperor is considering a career in show business or that several requests for official tours have come in. |

![]() ![]() EDELWEISS FINISHES WITH POMP AND PATRIOTISM ![]() The Edelweiss Music Festival drew to a close last night with the usual fanfare and patriotism. The traditional favorites for the last night were played out as the music paid tribute to the Achkaerinese Armed Forces and emphasized the pride in those armed forces. It was especially appropriate this year as in recent times the Achkaerinese military have been in more action than expected. In attendance fresh from the previous evening was the Emperor and his fiancee Renee Sandiego along with Prince Simon and Crown Princess Serenity. The final total of funds raised at this years festival is ∑182,146,203. This is a staggering total which the organizers have said "Goes well beyond what was expected. ![]() ![]() "SCORDISCI CONFLICT WILL BE A DEFINING MOMENT" - AIR MARSHALL NEKOTA ![]() The situation in Scordisci has today escalated with the reported use of chemical weapons by the Scordisci military against Ui Cenneslaig forces. This development does increase the risk to Achkaerinese forces on the ground but as yet there have been no reports of any serious effects on Achkaerinese troops administering humanitarian aid the response from Silver Fox Fort has been "The Achkaerinese military operates on very strict protocols, none are more strict than those governing Combat Medical Team's, they are well trained and know what to do in these circumstances." Air Marshall Nekota who has been placed in command of Achkaerinese assets concerned with the Scordisci situation has today called the situation in Scordisci 'a defining moment' stating: "This is a defining moment for not only for the people directly involved but also for the future of Mundus. The precedent it would set to allow Ui Cenneslaig forces to remain in Scordisci territory is not something to be entertained, they have to be withdrawn. This is not a conflict like any that has been fought before it is not a conventional war in that we have seen politics weaponized more than the actual weapons used by soldiers. We've seen Ui Cenneslaig forces slowly advance unchecked because of this. In the aftermath of the Andean Genocide it became critical to put down the actions of those emboldened by that tragedy. And we're talking about putting them down hard- this happened in Mercia, it's happened in Ionia and now we have to make it happen again in Scordisci. This of course does not mean we are blind to the use of forbidden weapons by Scordisci, we don't like it, we don't approve of it, but we do understand it- when your backed into a corner desperation often replaces reason. The very future of Mundus hangs in the balance, the world of order against the world of chaos and I know which I'd prefer to live in. There will be no letting up on this until there is a resolution that is justified." |

![]() ![]() FIRST FAEJEON CAPTAIN COMMISSIONED IN THE IMPERIAL NAVY - QUOTA FILLING OR LANDMARK MOMENT? ![]() the now Captain Floria Silvana For centuries the Faejeon Tribe have lived isolated from the rest of Achkaerin on Meridian Island, that all changed seventy seven years ago when the second world war visited the skies over Achkaerin, on one morning at the height of that battle the Faejeon Tribe came out of the hills, away from their secluded and primitive lifestyle and joined the relief effort in the City of Mossflower following a devastating bombing attack by Valertinette the previous night. This contributed to many lives being saved before another night of bombings and began a long process of integration between the two peoples that has seen many strides forward in recent years following the Mossflower Accord, to the point where fourteen years ago at his coronation Emperor Peter had the ceremony modified to include promises to protect the Faejeon Tribe with all his strength alongside the promise to the Achkaerinese people. He also vowed in the days following his coronation that he would allow for the first time members of the Faejeon Tribe to join the Achkaerinese military, in so doing he reversed a centuries old position. Today Commander Floria Silvana the XO aboard the INS Tethys was officially promoted to the rank of Captain and posted to command the INS Avalon, she becomes the first member of the Faejeon Tribe to receive such a posting. Elements within the Puritan Party and other extreme nationalist groups have dismissed the appointment as 'the Navy is throwing a bone to the Faejeon.' however sources within the Navy maintain that 'Captain Silvana is the best person for the job.' this has however not stopped a spontaneous protest of the appointment outside the offices of the Imperial Navy in Valtheim, demanding that it be reversed. An official statement from the Marble Palace has stated its support of the appointment as follows - "As commander in chief of the Achkaerinese Military the Emperor personally approves all promotions, he does not rubber stamp them he carefully reviews all the service records and fitness reports of candidates, he is not in the habit of giving people jobs because of some pre-ordained quote system, he makes the decisions based on who he believes can best do the job.' ![]() CHIEF COUNCILOR'S DAUGHTER PUTS NATIONAL TITLE ON THE LINE ![]() Kirsty Tsu, the daughter of Gowu's Chief Councilor is to put her reputation and title of Achkaerin's national chess champion on the line in a nine game series against an artificial intelligence designed by Riviere Corporation. The AI dubbed 'Dark Star' is being developed for long range space missions of the unmanned variety and this is seen as a way of testing the programming. When asked for a statement Ms Tsu said: "I was surprised to get asked. But that said I'm always up for a challenge and I have no intention of losing my title to a machine, bring it on and let's see if the machine has surpassed the human." The series of games is expected to be scheduled for two weeks time. |

![]() ![]() OPERATION NIGHTSHADE ESTABLISHES DMZ ![]() After many weeks of mainly moving, with next to combat occurring the High Command for Operation Nightshade, the CTO mission in Ionia, has confirmed that the De-Militarized Zone has been established along the Nova Ardia/Ionia border. The news comes not a moment too soon according to some analysts considering the increasing instability in central Ardia relating to Nova Tarragona. The announcement made by General Kakashi Fuji also contained a note of surprise as he explained: "You always hope for the best and prepare for the worst, the threats made by the Nir'Shado group didn't materialize and coupled with the Nova Ardian withdrawal we have had a much easier time of it than would otherwise be expected, actual conflict has been sporadic and sparse and we've begun to roll the humanitarian aid into the area. We've established the DMZ fully in compliance with international law and conventions and will now look to fulfill the rest of our mandate, but of course we're going to be keeping one eye on the other side of the border to see what happens with Nova Tarragona." ![]() MASON'S MARNAVRA MAGIC ![]() Day one of the Winter Games in Marnavra and already shocks resonate up and down the venues. From an Achkaerin perspective they've exceeded expectations already grabbing a bronze in the men's downhill skiing but also a shock gold in the women's slalom skiing courtesy of Belinda Mason. Mason won gold in the women's giant slalom in Nya Aland last year but chose to move down to the normal slalom for this year following a string of injury problems, there are also rumors that she may be considering retiring from competition following these games but this is unconfirmed. However the day clearly belonged to Nova Tarragona as they racked up six medals to sit top of the table. Day Two sees the biathlon events begin, historically Achkaerin have done well in these events and will look to do so again, however the team to watch may well be East Moreland. Away from that the women's ice hockey will be getting underway and the Achkaerin women will be hoping for the same sort of start that the men had as they brushed aside Mercia 5-0. KENNEDY SOUNDS RIVIERE'S DEFIANT ROAR IN VALKYRIA ![]() Z Kennedy celebrates her victory It's been a while but Riviere Corporation Racing have reclaimed top spot on the podium with victory on home soil in the Valkyria Grand Prix. The victory was secured by Z Kennedy while team mate Megan Harrison finished second. This marks the first Riviere victory since Harrison took the checkered flag first time around in Korion Coast eight races ago, a period of time that has seen the emergence of Rytol as challengers and seen Megan Harrison lose her championship lead to Sam Halliday of Rytol. Such a lapse in form had led to many analysts and pundits questioning Riviere's title credentials. But this victory will hopefully reaffirm the competitiveness of Riviere. The race demonstrated a mixture of team work and talent as off the line the two Riviere drivers attacked Halliday on different sides and when Halliday moved to block Harrison it allowed Kennedy the lead which she wouldn't relinquish at any point. As for Megan Harrison she would have to wait until three laps from the end before finally passing Halliday's Rytol. Speaking afterwards Z gave the following reaction: "We wanted this win, it's been a while and we're on home soil starting second and third, me and Megan had a chat before the race about what we were going to off the line so that we didn't end up taking each other out, she went one way I went the other and I got through the first corner in the lead and put the hammer down. We had to send a message today and we did." The team's manager Satella Watts also gave her reaction to the result: "This is a big win for us. It's been eight races and we've seen Halliday come along and snatch the championship lead from Megan last time out, it was important that she didn't lose anymore ground to him points wise so we threw everything at qualifying but despite that the Rytol ended up on pole, that said the girls played the start well they both attacked and Halliday covered Megan leaving Z open to the lead. We'd have liked to have gotten Megan through earlier than the dying laps because it would have stopped us all worrying. At the end of the day we've cut the championship lead driver wise to two points and extended our constructors lead to ninety points. It's been a successful weekend for us and we'll hope to see it continue for the rest of the season because this is shaping up to be one heck of a dogfight all the way to the flag in Silverhills." As we near the business end of the season eyes turn to the standings, the drivers championship isn't clear at the moment but the constructors has a clear equation, with eight races to go Riviere sit on a ninety point lead knowing that nearest challengers Rytol can reach a maximum of five hundred and eighty eight points if they were to obtain one twos in each remaining race. Given how unlikely such an occurrence is it would seem the constructors championship looms on the horizon and it is something that the Riviere team will want to put to bed as quickly as possible to enable to focus on the duel between Megan Harrison and Sam Halliday at the top of the driver's standings. ![]() ![]() SILVER TAKES GOLD IN WINTER GAMES BIATHLON ![]() Day two and three of the winter games saw the main event of the Biathlon events and more medals for the Achkaerinese team, a bronze for Harry Peters in the men's 20km individual was backed up by Jess Hutchinson taking gold in the mass start event and then by Danielle Silver taking gold in the women's 15km individual. The highlight of the day being Silver's gold as she recovered from a poor opening shoot to return to medal contention and then take the lead off the penultimate shoot. However despite this success day would belong to the East Morelander's something that was expected. Day three saw Peters, Hutchinson and Silver joined by fellow competitor Thomas Carter in the mixed team biathlon an event they would go on to take gold in though it wasn't easy to overcome the East Moreland team. Away from the snow there was a silver for the men's four bobsled team which comes as a surprise, though day three was to be the hosts day as Satanica rose up to head the medal table once again. Achkaerin presently sit third having won seven medals thus far and they will hope to win more in the coming days. |

It's been stated by his aide Alexandria Savage that 'The Emperor is attending to some personal matters and then hopes to take in some of the sights of the Winter Games' there was no comment about what personal matters were being attended to. The Emperor was also seen entering the hotel with Arthur Whitaker his uncle, leading to several interesting rumors of the nature of the visit. There will be more on this as it develops. ![]() VICE CONSUL WARNS AGAINST TEMCLUSE EXUBERANCE ![]() Following the announcement of Operation Tidal Wave by Temcluse, the expected session of the Achkaerinese Senate to discuss amendments to the law concerning safety on civilian aircraft was replaced by an urgent question brought by the Endeavor Party asking for clarification on the matter. There was also bronze in the mixed ice dancing. Day six saw no medals since only the women's ice hockey team were in action for Achkaerin, they won their final group game three to one against Sparta and have booked themselves a daunting semi final against one of the gold medal favorites Nya Aland. Tomorrow see's Temari Shiroe, Achkaerin's leading short track speed skater go for gold once again. |

![]() ![]() RIVIERE GIVES VAGUZIA A KICK START ![]() Felicity Turner is to head up Riviere operations in Vaguzia Riviere Corporation has today announced that it has struck a deal with the Vaguzian Government to expand its operations to that country. This marks a potential turning point for the Vaguzian economy in that it sees the first significant investment come in since the nation was forced to declare bankruptcy. Riviere Corporation has appointed Felicity Turner to head up operations in Vaguzia, speaking of the task at hand Ms Turner said the following: "What we're hoping to achieve here is kick start the Vaguzian economy, we don't expect it to be a powerful kick but we're hoping it will be a spark. If we can through our projects get the Vaguzian manufacturing industry going we should be able to generate more job opportunities, by sourcing some resources locally we'll get other industries moving as well. No one is saying it will be easy to accomplish but we're hoping that we can help Vaguzia weather this storm." It is expected that Riviere will announce the first project to be undertaken at its new Vaguzia facility in the coming days. Additionally it has been confirmed that the now infamous aircraft carrier commissioned by Vaguzia is now owned by the Achkaerin Space Agency. ![]() ASA JOINT PROJECT AIMED AT THE SUN ![]() The Achkaerin Space Agency has announced its latest project. Dubbed 'Prometheus' the project is intended to launch a probe at the sun with the intention of acquiring a sample of a solar wind and then return the probe to Mundus. What makes this project special however is not the target but that the ASA is to partner their counterparts in Revana in this effort, though suggestions of the potential involvement of the North Ardian Space Initiative have yet to be answered. It is expected that the Achkaerinese mission controllers will take primary responsibility for mission oversight as a means of giving their Revana counterparts experience of such operations through observation. It is however expected that it will be a Revanan rocket that carries the probe, though the probe itself is expected to be Achkaerinese in origin. When asked for comment the Director of the Achkaerin Space Agency said the following: "This is something we've been wanting to do for a while. We're not members of the NASI should it be formed but we are potentially a major supporter, we support the Revanan space program, we support the Protoan space program, if you want to get really pedantic we also still have a Tarranovan EM drive to test in the next few weeks. The point is that we've put considerable effort into helping other nations with their programs, this is the first significant milestone for us in this capacity and hopefully it won't be the last." ![]() TERRIFIC TEMARI TRIPLE AND THEN ANOTHER WITH SOME FRIENDS WRITES HISTORY ![]() Day Seven and Day Eight of the winter games saw the short track speed skating program take place, though if you're Achkaerinese this was really all about one person- Temari Shiroe trying to defend the four golds she won last year in Nya Aland against the big names from East Moreland and Vaguzia. She won the five hundred by a hairs breath from the Tarranovan, there wasn't really anything in the one thousand as she clashed with familiar rivals from East Moreland, the fifteen hundred was perhaps the most comfortable as she came through the field in the last six hundred to take the title. She was back in action the following day with history beckoning, the pressure immense, expectation palpable and sure enough with team mates Ellen Hunt and Lauren Dyer it was to be Temari's day again. It is believed that this is the last time she will compete in all three of the individual events at the winter games however and there are many within the Achkaerinese team who have paid their tributes to a fantastic two days from the so called 'red comet'. |

![]() ![]() RIVIERE PANTHER GOES ON SALE ![]() Princess Freya Ironside of East Moreland was surprisingly involved in the promotional work of the Panther Riviere Corporation's newest product the Panther motorbike has gone on sale today with the sale numbers reaching record levels in Vaguzia. Felicity Turner who heads up Riviere's operations in Vaguzia oversaw the projects development and gave her reaction saying: "This is a significant moment not just for ourselves but for Vaguzia, it was important to play to the strengths of the Vaguzian economy and so we went for a motorbike, this bike is light, fast and smart, it's designed to make the ride as safe as possible for the rider, so safe that because of the wearable tech nature of the bespoke suit that comes with the Panther the rider potentially can manage without the usual protective measures. The digital visor worn like glasses is very straightforward in that it contains a Heads Up Display that focuses on speed and cornering and we've also added satellite navigation to give the Panther the chance to be used everyday by people. It has been tested extensively in real world conditions by Riviere's elite testing division and we're confident of the success of the product." Surprisingly Princess Freya of East Moreland was used in the promotional material and has bought a Panther, Ms Turner explained this as follows: "What's most important with products like the Panther is how you live with it every day and for that you need the opinion's of people who know the product type, and when it comes to motorbikes Princess Freya is at the top of the list of people to go to. Her insights were of great help to the products development and we thank her immensely for it." |

![]() ACHKAERIN TEAM FOR WORLD CUP ANNOUNCED ![]() National Team Manager Dame Julia McCabe overseeing the first training session of the national team in preparation for the World Cup Dame Julia McCabe has today unveiled the twenty three man squad that she will be taking to this years World Cup. Achkaerin's Fox's ranked number one in the world by the MFA will be fancied by many and with the likely absence at this stage of old rivals Quinntopia the team will be buoyed with the chance for success. The squad features several changes as new blood replaces some established names for various reasons, among the headlines are the return to international action of Garaitz Iñarra and Élyie Postel following good seasons in the Azrean League, joining them also from that league is young gun Åge Lied and young talent Reitse Attem. Speaking during the press conference where she announced the team Dame Julia said the following: "We know we'll be the bookies favorites at the start and we've earned that tag, we're ranked number one for a reason, but that said we aren't going to take anything for granted, we will approach each and every game with the same level of preparation and professionalism that we always have. Sure it's great to be the best in the world on rankings but we want that trophy back, it's been two years since we won it on home soil and you can bet we want it back. The squad I've announced consists in my view of the players most likely to be able to deliver this, there are some old faces I'm pleased to welcome back and some new faces that deserve the chance to show the world what they've got." The squad is as follows:
HARRISON HALTS HALLIDAY CHARGE IN SUPREME STYLE ![]() Megan Harrison was all smiles after her win The streets of Gowu played host to the latest round of this years Formula Mundus championship and it didn't disappoint. With Rytol's Sam Halliday having stolen the lead in the driver's championship a couple of races earlier it was a critical time for long time championship leader Megan Harrison of Riviere Corporation Racing, she answered to the pressure in qualifying by putting her car on pole position and then on race day took home the win, though it wasn't that easy as title rival Halliday would apply all manner of pressure in the closing laps. The result gives Megan back the championship lead and she will now hope to maintain that advantage to the end of the season. After the race she spoke to us saying: "That was a heck of a race, I got a clean start, held the lead into the first corner and went for it, the Rytol was stronger on the harder compound we knew that after qualifying so we adjusted strategy which was why we did a short stint on the harder tyre, it was a risk because of tyre wear and durability of course and with that Rytol bearing down we just had to hope it would be enough to hold to the flag, fortunately as we always say in this sport catching is one thing passing is something else and I just had to do everything I could to make it as difficult as possible for Sam and I managed it." The Princess Class is the next evolution of the Tisiphone and we have today have commissioned Riviere Corporation with the contract of developing this machine." Riviere Corporation are reportedly eager to start work on the Princess Class though since there are several projects presently in the development stages it is unlikely that the Princess class will be seen any time soon.
