DBC World Service Dijeli Troops Fly out to Join CIS' Joint Strike Force ![]() Dijeli Infantrymen of the 1st Infantry Regiment embark their transports at the Compangh Airbase Following rising tensions between the WARSAW alliance and the CSTO, the first Dijeli troops have today flown out to join the newly-created CIS Joint Strike Force, which is currently mustering in anticipation of its inaugural large-scale training exercise at an undisclosed location in Verover. The Dijeli troops dispatched to this new peacekeeping organisation include the much-vaunted First Infantry Regiment, known by their moniker 'the First and Only', and the infamous Twelfth Mechanised Regiment, their chequered history noted by their nickname 'the Bastard's Dozen'. Although the Government in Dijelibeybi strenuously denies that this deployment has anything to do with the present international situation, instead insisting that these exercises have been planned for some time, many of the more sceptical commentators have noted the auspicious strength of the force; a full three divisions supported by air and sea assets. Lieutenant-Colonel Aubrey Sinclair, commanding the 47th Mechanised Infantry Regiment, speaking to a DBS reporter shortly before her unit departed, said: "No, this is definitely not a combat deployment, at least not in the immediate future. Although we are equipped to fight, should the need arise, this is because the JSF is a peacekeeping force, and must always be ready..... Yes, this exercise has been in the works for some time, but has unfortunately been delayed until now" |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION NarcoStix in Federal Ban ![]() The imported NarcoStix brand has caused controversy since its introduction in recent months The controversial coffee-based beverage known as 'NarcoStix' has today been banned from sale in all states of the Dijel after a damning report by the Dijeli Medical Association (DMA). The controversial drink, which has been linked to several deaths since its introduction from Tristantia last month, was marketed as containing only 'legal' narcotics, however, several prohibited or heavily regulated substances were discovered in a sample taken from several well-known outlets analysed by the DMA. According to government sources, the Justice Department is considering launching prosecutions against those responsible for the introduction and marketing of the product in the Federation, citing charges of supplying prohibited substances, mis-selling of goods and several counts of manslaughter. Dr Sandrina Alusivić, the lead researcher on the DMA's investigation into NarcoSitx, said: "This is definitely the right decision: this is, without a doubt, a dangerous product with an alarmingly inconsistent cocktail of drugs. Unfortunately, it is too late for some, but hopefully this will be a stark warning on the dangers of such narcotics... Yes, I do think those responsible should be prosecuted, and even jailed, if possible" |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Dijeli Olympic Team Return Triumphant Team DJ athletes pose in Dijelibeybi International Airport This week, Dijeli athletes have returned from the inaugural Independent Order Games, after an impressive performance that has seen them punch well above their weight. With a grand total of 39 medals, including an impressive 15 golds, Team DJ finished 4th in the overall competition after a strong showing in the early stages, even topping the leaderboards for several days. Although their gold haul was second only to Chernobereg, and equal to Verover and Eipa Negara, Team DJ missed out on a top 3 finish by literally 3 silver medals. Despite closely missing out on making IOG history, Team DJ were nonetheless in high spirits on their return, with several members sporting one, or even more, medals of all colours. Speaking at a press conference after their return, Team DJ coaching staff made a statement of intent; declaring that it was their aim to build on this epic performance with an even higher medal tally next time, and even competing for that converted top spot. And this success has certainly proven to be an inspiration back home, with uptake levels in several sports up sharply, particularly among the young, and Team DJ motifs and merchandise popping up all over the Dijel during the games. Although final victory fell away at the last minute, you wouldn't know it from the welcome they've received, which pretty well sums up the Dijeli experience at the IOG. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION FDDF Trial New Battle Tank Designs ![]() The RKA FV42 is one of the two designs competing to replace current generation FDDF tanks. As the current-generation FDDF (Federation of the Dijel Defence Force) battle tanks, such as the FV2 Anraya, begin their slide into obsolescence, the FDDF high command has begun field testing two new home-grown designs to replace them. First is the RKA (Royal Klatchan Armoury) FV42, manufactured by the same company who designed the FV2 some 45 years ago, the FV42 was first unveiled as a project two years ago, and has been designed alongside the MCV-14, the new Infantry Fighting Vehicle set to enter into FDDF service early next month. ![]() The Sto Defence Company (SDC) A-09-III is the other model competing with the FV42. The second design tended to the Defence Committee comes from the Sto Defence Company, a much newer company than RKA, who have yet to successfully entered a defence product of this standing, although a recent press release from SDC was very confident of the capabilities of the A-09-III, which is their most advanced design to date. Trials are due to end sometime in the next week, after which the Defence Committee will deliberate over which design to choose, with production of either able to begin next month at the earliest, after the MCV-14. In the meantime, some regiments' FV2 tanks have begun to be mothballed, while others have begun to be turned over to tank crew training schools, both of which are limiting the capability of FDDF armoured ground forces in the short term. This move comes as an extension of the current drive to modernise the FDDF, which has already begun to bring the SA10 rifle into service, replacing older AKM and AK-74 models previously in service, and that will bring in the MCV-14 to replace ageing BMP fighting vehicles. This programme is set to continue for some time, as naval and air force officials eye their own equipment. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Fibre-Optic Rollout Begins ![]() Optical fibres are set to replace older copper cables The Rollout of new optical fibre networks have begun today in the Dijel, aiming to update the ageing information infrastructure in many parts of the country. The project, known in government circles as 'Project Incy-Wincy', has begun in Dijelibeybi, with the mayor symbolically opening the first section at a ceremony this morning. In recent times, the Dijeli communications system has come under scrutiny for its age and lack of competitiveness compared to foreign systems, and has been blamed for the lack of startup businesses in some parts of the country. Hopefully now, however, more areas outside the current industrial zones will be able to benefit from the growth that has been seen in the big cities in recent years. However, some commentators have dismissed this as a mere political ploy, that will fizzle out as soon as the media spotlight shifts, due to the upcoming national elections in august. Only time will tell. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Prime Minister Issues Statement Over FMA 'Crisis' PM Ronan Vallerius speakimg earlier, during a break from the Congress of Albion The Office of the Dijeli Prime Minister issued a statement earlier today, regarding the recent diplomatic row over the creation of the 'Free Market Alliance' (FMA). In the statement, the PM criticised the FMA as "paranoid and intolerant; a force of repression in the world" However, he also leveled accusations against the international responce to the FMA, saying "The responce we have seen to this event, from communist and capitalist countries alike, has been heavy-handed to say the least... We must not lose sight of the fact that this group, regardless of their stated intention, have yet to commit a single hostile act" In his closing statement, the PM emphisised the need for calm, calling on the natons of the world to stop acting "In a manner unbefitting of people of such standing" Shortly after this statement went out, the opposition labelled it as 'a test of the standing this government has built on the international stage' - if this call for calm is heeded, it will be a great boost for the government at the polls, while a reversal could potentially blow the competition open for several other parties to gain a foothold in the polls. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION FDDF Re-Vamped! ![]() Dijeli 3rd Mechanised Regiment on parade with new equipment Following recent trials, a new main battle tank has earlier been announced as the successor to the long-serving FV2 Anraya: the A-09-III, designed and manufactured by the Sto Defence Company at their plant in Sto Laat. With production beginning immediately, this new piece of hardware will begin phasing out the existing armour almost soon after, although several units have already had their FV2s decommissioned. The second-placed design which competed to replace the FV2, the FV42, has been cleared for use as an export model, although several systems have reportedly been removed. Alongside this new tank, the fruits of several other modernisation projects are currently or soon to be coming into FDDF service: the SA10 series are coming into service, replacing most current small-arms currently in service, and the MCV-14 Infantry Fighting Vehicle currently entering service with Dijeli armoured infantry units. This comes as FDDF Naval chiefs announce plans to introduce some of the systems Integrated into the outstanding FDDS Heart of Gold throughout the fleet, pending the availability of funds to construct further warships from scratch. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Dijeli Warship Investigates Saferen Crisis The cruiser FDDS Darkheart, photographed here on patrol off Dauntel Following the recent government collapse in Saferen, the FDDF have sanctioned the deployment of the Heart-class cruiser FDDS Darkheart to the stricken country, with the mission of recovering Dijeli nationals belived to have been in the country, and to attempt to assist stabilisation in the country, if at all possible. Having been previously been based out of Port Illyria, FDDS Darkheart was redeployed to the Great Northern Sea when the situation in Saferen began to become unstable, according to FDDF sources, although no other actions were taken at the time. The Dijeli Foreign Office has since issued travel advice against entering Saferen, citing the situation on the ground as "Seriously unsafe, a serious threat to life" However, at the time of the collapse, this was not in place, so a small number of Dijeli citizens, including embassy staff, have been identified as 'in need of rescue' due to their current official status as 'missing'. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION DBC World Service to Carry New Features ![]() The logo of 'Away Days' was leaked earlier this week. The DBC World Service is to carry all-new features, it has been announced today. The new programmes, named as Away Days and Defence Review Periodical, will be shown both on the domestic DBC 1, as well as here on the World Service, due to their relevant foreign interest and entertainment values. At the same press conference, DBC bosses revealed that the World Service will also be carrying results from domestic Dijeli football and rugby leagues, beginning at the start of the new season this autumn. This will no doubt panda to the growing number of Dijeli citizens working or living abroad, mainly in other CIS nations thanks to reduced travel restrictions. The new programming, Away Days and Defence Review Periodical will both go to air periodically on the World Service, although bosses have stated their aim to produce at least one of the pair on a fortnightly basis. Despite this, lips were sealed on exact details of these programmes, although Away Days was described vaguely as 'a travel programme', whilst Defence Review Periodical is rather more self-explanitory, although is apparently 'part entertainment, part documentary'. The first is allegedly set to go to press this friday, although which only time will tell. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Away Days - Dijelibeybi (Pilot) ![]() Dijelibeybi by night - looking out over the river in the Merchants Quarter This week in Away Days, we're looking at the city of Dijelibeybi, the ancient heart of the Federation of the Dijel. In recent years, this place has seen a boom in the tourist industry, but why? Location, Location, LocationTM Dijelibeybi is located on the banks of the river Dijeli, about 80 miles from the sea, in the rather unimaginatively named Dijelibeybi province of the Federation of the Dijel. Away from the river, things tend to get a little bit hot, being as it is in a desert, giving the city a rather unusual elongated sausage-shape, following the rather lesurely curve of the river. Accommodation For those lookig to stay the night, a variety of B&B facilities and Inns are available in the Merchants Quarter, varying from ultra-budget to the hight of comfort. Visitors are warned to stay close to the more tourist-orientated areas, however, as some less-reputable establishments exist off the beaten track. For those with money to spend, it is worth giving a thought to the grand hotels of the Royal Quarter - many of there have hosted royalty, world leaders and wealthy buisness people, so the well-refined visitor will find themselves in good company. A full list of Travel Bureaux Certified establishments can be found at: www.visitdijelibeybi.org.dj Travel Routes Dijelibeybi International Airport is, for many, the primary gateway into Dijelibeybi, with airlines operating flights in and out to places all over the world: from East Moreland, Quintopia, Elpa Negara and all points in between. However, it is not the only way to get to Dijelibeybi: the railway station provides connections to the rest of the Dijel, with lines out into Albion planned in the near future; ferry services are avalable down the Dijel from Compangh; and then there is always the option of driving, with new motorways linking Dijelibeybi to Escart, Sto Laat, Tsort and Ephebe. Climate Being, as it is, in the middle of a desert, the weather is almost always very hot; travel or exertion during daylight is not advised for the elderly or weak of temperament and frequent hydration is a must. At night, however, the temperature drips right down, meaning that this is the time when the city is busiest. Headgear is reccomended but shorts are optional. History The some 3,000 years of Dijelibeybi history could fill dozens of articles like this; as such, it is rather more prudent to point the interested traveler in the direction of the excellent museums which chronicle this history in far more detail: the Palace of Stars in the Royal Quarter, the Sands and Civilisation Museum in the Old City and the Museum of the Royal Dijeli Legion in the Merchants Quarter are all fine starting points, although simply wandering the Old City will allow the casual observer to learn much of the city's history. Culture Dijelibeybi culture, both traditional and modern, is almost constantly on display somewhere in the city: from the open-air amphitheatre in the Old City, to the Drum public house and Qunit's Corner Club in the city centre, there is an awful lot to see and do, at very reasonable prices. There are also fortnughtly displays by the Dijelibeybi Fellowship, a company of historic battle re-enacters, in the Khe'Lo park, located just outside the South Gate. Night-Life The night life of Dijelibeybi is largely centered around the north bank, an area including part of the Old City and part of the Merchants Quarter, and tends to last from around 7pm into the wee hours on a friday or saturday night. It is advised to leave before or soon after midnight, however, as drunken violence has led to a police crack-down on late-night revelers in some places. On weeknights, there is a good selection of fabulous restaurants and cafés are avalable for the more discerning palette, as well as traditional local street-food vendors. It is advised to regrain from consuming the local delicacy known as 'sausage inna bun'. The Local's Tip "Wocha, gov" Says a large, jovial man in a greasy apron "If I woz ter give you one bit o' advice about Dijelibeybi, it would be this: do not, and I repeat not, buy or eat anyfin' offered to you by anyone named 'Dibbler'. That, an' come ter the Flaming Kookaburra all-night takaway fer happy mondays. Thasa lot" ((OOC: If anyone wants one of their cities to feature in any subsiquent episodes of Away Days, PM me)) |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Dijeli Paratroops Deployed to Safraen ![]() The Dijeli paratroops left Kápin Gol airbase earlier today, embarking on the largest active deployment by the FDDF to date. Following the recent deployment of a Dijeli warship, FDDS Darkheat, to investigate the situation in the crisis-hit state of Safraen, the FDDF has confirmed that a company of Dijeli paratroopers has been deployed to support the operation, in conjunction with the JET, the recently-founded international emergancy reaction organisation. The unit, identified as 3 Company of the 1st Parachute Regiment, was, until recently stationed at an airbase in eastern Akim-Navosh province, and is largely drawn from just across the boarder in rural Klatch. There has yet to be any reported casualties on the Dijeli side of the conflict and, although the FDDF has yet declined to comment on the situation, such a large deployment of troops is a surefire indicator that the situation on the ground is dire. In a press-release from Prime Minister Ronan Vallerius on the matter, he pledged to do all in his power to bring peace and stablility to the people of Safraen, and hoped that, working together with JET, the Federation of the Dijel could help to avert what is potentially one of the greatest humanitarian disasters of our time, on a scale with the war in Thetmata, albeit further from the eyes of the world. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Hetzmaal Solar Array Opens ![]() An aerial view of the Solar Array, the biggest of its kind to date. Hetzmaal-2 is visable in the top-right. Hetzmaal-1, the largest solar array in the world, has earlier today officially opened and begun producing electricity. The array, located in Dijelibeybi province, in the desert some twenty kilometres southwest of Dijelibeybi itself, is an advancement on the earlier Dos Contos site, which has been a testbed for solar electricity generation technology, and together the two plants will fully supply the city of Dijelibeybi and several surrounding towns, replacing the Dijelibeybi Power Station, a coal-fired plant due to be demolished in early 2015 to make way for new developments. Construction of a second array at the site, Hetzmaal-2, is currently under construction and is due to be finished by mid-July, and will lead the way in the Federation's transition from fossil fuels to renewables. The current government has pledged that, should they win another term at this summer's upcoming election, they will aim to get the Dijel fully running on renewables by 2018. The opposition, however, has dismissed this development as merely a gimmick, and maintain that the government is not truly committed to its renewables programme, and that such money would be better spent on solving social issues, rather than 'bougeoisie hobbies', as one party spokesperson descriped the project. Despite this, the Dijeli desert climate lends itself perfectly to solar generation, due to its year-round sunshine and low rainfall, encoraging private companies to experiment with the technology here, as well as government-backed projects such as this. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Dijeli Rugby Squad Confirmed for Confederation Cup ![]() Dijeli players unveiled their new international kit at a 7s warm-up tournament earlier this week. The Dijeli Rugby Union Association (DRUA) have today announced the squad that will travel to Ndambia for saturday's opening game of the inaugural Confederation Cup. The squad is as follows: 1. Jan D'Tarnzt 2. Harral Kaemann 3. James Blackwell 4. Elmaan Elmarsto 5. Kheen Salraden 6. Imaal Irilenko 7. Keith Sandersson 8. Mannei Toulaggen 9. Seamus Plicklen (C) 10. Lee Halbrhinu 11. Simeon Sto Laat 12. Jedo Harker 13. Ronald Sto Heilat 14. Kaal Clarke 15. Thomal Tural 16. Emmerson Tsali 17. Quantu Dheli-Ehmus 18. Sean Canston 19. Ahman Vallerius 20. Riccardo vos Simonds 21. Hanzkam Rhazmusen 22. Ellian DoPrado 23. Koster Smithsot The president of the DURA, Reginald Hopahl, has stated that he hopes that a good showing in the cup will boost the burgeoning Dijeli rugby scene to the same kind of scale of Association Football, which has grown massively in recent years, although was regarded somewhat as the unofficial national game. This ambition has been backed up by a government programme to encourage people to play sport regularly, which has led to money being made available for the establishment of new facilities and clubs, as well as rugby now being introduced into the Dijeli national curriculum for Physical Education, where previously it was the preserve of private educational establishments. DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Worker Injured in Escart Explosion ![]() Two TBMs begun work on the northern line from the Escart Central hub two weeks ago. A construction worker has been injured by a blast believed to be from an unexploded munition, while working on the new metro system in the city centre, the Escart Board of Public Works has confirmed. The worker, who has yet to be named publicly, is said to be in a stable condition at the Escart and Provincial Hospital. Next of kin have been informed. The proposed metro system, set to be only the third in the country, after Tsort and Ephebe, will run electrically-powered train service from the city centre hub to several outlying stations, with plans to expand in the future. This blast is said to have occurred on the northern line, leading to speculation that the explosion was caused when unexploded ordinance, dating back to the 1979 Dijeli Revolution, was disturbed by the workers. During the revolution, several types of munition were employed by the regime in Escart, most of which have previously been cleared, although this is believed to part of an unrecovered salvo fired by No. 6 (Northern) Battery, historians say, indicating the possibility of further 3" and 6" shells lying dormant in the area. Work is continuing, albeit at a slower rate, whilst the Mayor of Escart, Sammiel Bronkbach, has called for 'a war on unexploded ordinence' in the notoriously trouble-hit Shadowlands province. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Defeat to Ndambia in Confederation Cup ![]() Forward James Blackwell, known colloquially as 'The Caveman', at the end of today's away tie. In a shock turn-around, the Dijel have lost 24-17 away to Ndambia in the first weekend Confederation Cup, putting them 5th in the current standings, above Achkerain on points difference. Despite all the hype beforehand, several commentators have criticised the performance of the Dijeli team, especially for conceding tries so easily, although the coach has defended his team, calling the defeat a 'bonding experience' and saying it will 'bring the team down to earth' ahed of their game next week, at home the Central Ossario Republic, who currently sit atop the table. On the positive side of events, such as they are, two tries were scored by the Dijeli team, both of which were ably converted by kicker Lee Halbrhinu, with a field penelty dispatched equally adeptly in the 71st minute, although it proved too little too late to salvage the game. One Dijeli try scorer, back Jedo Harker, was awarded man of the match by DURA, for his heroic marshalling of the back line during the final minutes of the game, as well as his personal contribution to the scoresheet after Kheen Salraden set him up for a quick dash inside the Ndambian twenty-two. Responce to the defeat on social media were largely negative, as might be expected, although a considerable section were hopefull to see the international team in its first ever home performance during a competative game. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Announcement of Safraen Disaster ![]() A quarantine order has been placed over Safraen and her citizens In an announcement late last night, the Dijeli health ministry announced an official quarantine has been placed over Dijeli-controlled areas of Safraen, namely the far west, quelling fears that infected refugees could return to the Dijel with the troops. However, the spokesperson hastened to add, refugee centres are said to be under construction in Mornfire province, which will house large numbers of refugees until the crisis has abated. With regards to returning service personnel, however, the ministry have stressed that this appears to be a primarily water-borne illness, with no confirmed reports yet of it being spread via interpersonal contact, although precautions will be taken with wounded or withdrawing troops. The hospital ship FDDS Saving Grace has been dispatched to Mornfire District Centre, the current operations hub in the region, and will ferry injured soldiers home, under observation, should casualties occur. Medical relief operations in Polau have been turned over to allied and JET forces, it has been noted. In other Safraen news, a platoon of the 31st Armoured Regiment are set to fly out to the fallen nation later today, feeding rumours that the country has fallen into the hands of organised extremist factions, although the MoD have declined to comment, for the time being, at least. However, supporters of the current Prime Minister, Ronan Vallerius, will be saying that this shows his resolve to tackle the situation, and that the Dijel will stand by Safraen when others, most notably Elpidia, have recently reclassified Safraen as a 'failed state', while Dijeli government sources refer to the situation as a 'high-impact natural disaster' and reference renewed elections in the country as part of the long-term re-stabilisation plan. DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Borland Separatist Suspect Arrested ![]() Ephebe Police Department officers stand guard outside a suburban property raided in connection with the terrorist group. In a police raid on a property in a western Ephebe suburb earlier today, it has been reported that an alleged Borland suspect has been taken into custody. The East Moreland group were recently categorised as terrorists after they claimed responsibility for a missile attack on civilians in the country, and, have more recently claimed to have successfully assassinated the king of East Moreland, an event which has attracted international condemnation. Pseudopolis Yard has yet to confirm the identity of the alleged suspect, although they have announced that, following an operation in the early hours of this morning by a specialist armed police unit, one individual has been taken into custody under the Terrorist Activities Act (1993), and three further individuals have been arrested at the same address on charges relating to 'prohibited substances'. This comes following a minor bomb scare in Tsort yesterday, prompting rumours that the detonation during construction of the Escart metro system three days ago was an act of terror, rather than unexploded ordnance, as was the official verdict. However, no group has yet claimed responsibility for these incidents, and prior to this arrest none were known to have been active within the Dijel, so, for now, the terror alert remains negligible. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Prime Minister in Ndambia Row ![]() PM Vallerius in parliament earlier, during a heated debate with opposition leaders In the Dijeli parliament today, a stormy debate took place between the Prime Minister, Ronan Vallerius, whose Liberal Party have pledged to support the legitimate Ndambian government, and a coalition of opposition parties, who have declared such measures to be 'interventionist'. Mr Vallerius, under whom the Dijel has become a cornerstone member of the Confederation of Independent States, has already sanctioned the deployment of FDDF troops to the Safraen crisis, a move which has prompted fiery resistance from the more right-of-centre parties in parliament, although there has been no reported casualties among the Dijeli troops as of yet. This debate, however, is different: the CIS treaty includes a mutual defence pact, Mr Vallerius has noted, which would mean that the Dijel is bound to come to the defence of Ndambia, and others, in the event of such crises. However, opposition members have countered, since this is an internal situation, this does not apply. Still at loggerheads, neither side looks set to back down soon in what is building up to be a key point of contention at his summers' elections. Since the government currently has a voting majority in parliament, the point is effectively moot in terms of immediate policy making, although it could have great ramifications for future policymaking and foreign relations. Although public surveys do seem to suggest that a large number of Dijeli people do support the government's pro-internationalist stance, the PM must tread carefully, as the prospect of becoming embroiled in a full-scale conventional war, and a civil war at that, would surely have dire results in the ballot box. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Dijeli Troops in Intervention Exercise ![]() Dijeli units storm ashore during the initial phase of the four-day exercise In an exercise at a military training ground earlier this week, sources report, Dijeli air, sea and land forces staged a large-scale amphibious landing exercise. Coming as the crisis in Ndambia intensifies, many domestic commentators are pointing to this as proof that the government are preparing to launch a military intervention in the country, although the government has so far declined to comment officially on this development. FDDF sources indicate that this was pre-planned, although the scale has been upped slightly, given recent international developments. In related developments, it appears that the recent military modernisation programme that has re-equipped most ground units recently is set to move on to other branches, with prototype missile defence systems apparently on display during the exercise. In other news, the Dijeli team triumphed 17-3 over the COR to win thir second game of the tournament. This victory in their first home game has propelled them to second overall, on point differance, as it stands. In the post-match interview, the coach praised his two wingers, who provided a constant danger down the flanks that their opponants were never able to truely contain. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Naval Units Deployed to Ndambia ![]() The Carrier FDDS Teppicamemanon, the current fleet flagship, alongside the destroyer FDDS Compangh, off the coast of Ndambia Following reports from the Dijeli Ambassador to Ndambia that rebel forces have attempted to take the capital, the FDDF have revealed that a carrier battlegroup has been given orders to move into position off the coast and commence enforcement of a no-fly zone for rebel aircraft. Having reportedly left port several days ago, the force is now in position, with initial sorties apparently due to begin later this evening. The battlegroup is known to contain nine vessels, after a press release from the FDDF earlier, including the aircraft carrier FDDS Teppicamemanon, the fleet flagship, the light cruiser FDDS Lionheart, the destroyers FDDS Compangh and FDDS Hetzmaal, alongside the frigates FDDS Venture, FDDS Indomitable Guardian, FDDS Hunter, FDDS Ranger and FDDS Sentinel. However, the government have stressed, there is currently no Dijeli ground units deployed in the area, and this is merely the response to a request for aid in this capacity from the Ndambian ambassador at the CIS headquarters. With Ossiran naval units, with similar fleet air arm capacity, already in place off the Ndambian coast, as well as the Ndambian air force units that have remained loyal to Queen Kangala, this mission against rebel air units is believed to be relatively routine, according to military sources. In other news, the foreign office has released a statement today in support of the much-criticised East Moreland government under Prince Regent James. Despite recent claims in foreign news networks, the statement said, it is eminent that the Regent remain during this period of transition, until such a time as a true monarch sits the throne of East Moreland once more. The Dijeli Ambassador was notably one of the few foreign representatives at a memorial service held earlier today for King David, whose aircraft was downed in a suspected Borland Separatist attack earlier this month. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Moreland King Back From the Dead! ![]() King David III of East Moreland, apparently now back from the dead In a unprecidented turn of events, David III of East Moreland, belived dead after a terrorist attack several weeks ago, has appearred in an online viral video apparently shot at a local television studio somewhere in northern East Moreland at some point in the last 48 hours. This follows several allegations in recent days of foul play on the part of Prince Regent James from various nations, based on evidence apparently collected by CIS special forces units in the aftermath of the attack, although the Dijeli government have played no part. After this latest development, which has apparently blindsided Dijeli intelligence services, a foreign office spokesperson has asserted that this apparent resurrection will be investigated, although they refused to acknowledge the Dijeli government's official stance on the matter, although the Wikipedia.dj entry for the errant royal has been amended to read: "King David was deposed in an attempted coup in April 2014, and he has since launched an attempt to reclaim his throne" This marks a paradigm shift in public opinion towards the Prince Regent, who was previously regarded with some sympathy by the Dijeli public, but is now largely looked upon with suspicion, if not outright scorn, my many who are now questioning the position this government have taken over this matter. In parliment, the far-right have been howling for blood, demanding 'affirmative action' to restore the rightful monarch, while the leftmost echelons of the RPP have warned that this is par for monarchies, and that the Dijeli should not involve themselves with such authoritarian regimes. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Republican Declaration form Safraen ![]() The Safraen flag, now flying over Mornfire DC, alongside the Dijeli battle standard, once more In the last few hours, according to our correspondent in Mornfire DC, a group of citizens of the former state of Safraen have presented themselves before the base's command centre claiming to represent the newly-founded Republic of Safraen, a successor state to the old Safraen, a state that is now no longer technically recognised by many of the international community. Mornfire DC, the Dijeli base of operations in the stricken country, has an attached refugee camp, reported to be known locally as Goodlanding, which is home to an estimated 15,000 displaced persons from the old Mornfire province and beyond. In a rushed briefing within the last hour, the foreign secretary, Quanii Laat, announced to gathered domestic and foreign news reporters that the Federation of the Dijel has now officially recognised the Republic of Safraen as a sovereign state, although the foreign secretary did not comment on the matter of the eastern territories of old Safraen, which are claimed by the RoS, although are reputedly now under the de-facto control of the USR. In a parallel development, the Ministry of Defence have announced that the 600-strong LDV (Local Defence Volunteers), a force of Safraen militia recruited by the MoD to help police the Goodlanding refugee camp, have now been turned over to the RoS to form the basis of the new Republic of Safraen Army. It is known that the LDV were supplied with Dijeli weapons and equipment, including the recently phased-out FV2 tank, and this arrangement is believed to be set to continue with this new force. In other news, the return of King David III to East Moreland has been met with elation, according to a government source, with the Prime Minister, Ronan Vallerius, announcing his support for the monarch soon after the news broke. At the same time, one prominent film director pledged to bring the story, which is not yet fully known, to the big screen, tweeting earlier 'The world is once more a better place, thanks to the greatest epic since the Iliad, a tale that simply must be told #returnoftheking' |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION First Blows of Election Campaign Struck! ![]() The Dijeli Labour Party, pictured here, are one of the many parties stepping up campaigning ahed of the general elections this June With just over a month before the Dijeli general election takes place, campaigning by the four man parties in Dijeli politics has begun in earnest today, with the Safraen situation, among other issues, dominating proceedings. In the coming weeks, the DBC will be following each of the party leaders in their campaigns as they attempt to woo over the Dijeli public in this next crucial month. Starting his reelection campaign in his hometown of Wae, in the Dijel delta area, Ronan Vallerius adressed a large gathering of the Liberal faithful, first taking a moment to praise the bravery of the three Dijeli soldiers killed in Safraen last week, before moving on to chronical the progress made by his government since they took power in the summer of 2011. Meanwhile, in Port Illyria, both Martha Heilat and Katerina Delbrovnic, of the Dijeli Labour Party and Reformed Peoples' Party respectively, adressed crowds at two sperate events in the city, each peddling their own vision for the next three years, while taking the oppertunity to launch probing attacks against one anothers' credentials. Rounding out the competition is somewhat of a wildcard, Ihmran Ibn Nassir, whose Guiding Light Party kicked off their first general election campaign earlier over in Tsort, where Mr Nassir made a passionate rallying cry for the furthest right of the major parties. This has occured against a backdrop of rugby fever, as the climactic game of the Confederation Cup approaches next weekend - away to East Moreland. A win for either side would see them take the cup, although, the head coach acknowledged in an interview earlier, this is by no means an easy game; the Honey Badgers are unbeaten in the tourniment so far, dropping only one point in a draw against Verover on the opening night. Despite that, the team are said to be quietly confident, having won all three games, two of which without conceding, since their shock defeat in Ndambia in the first game. In an effort to galvanise the supporters, travel and accomidation for away fans is being laid on by the team, with several large screens being erected in public spaces around the country for those unable to attend. 'Whatever the result' the coach concluded in the interview 'this is set to be one hell of a game of rugby'. Truer words were never spoken, in the views of this reporter. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Ministry of Defence Release Details of 'Bionic Arm' Project ![]() With the first Dijeli wounded now begining to return home from the war in Safraen, artficial limbs like this one could become an increcingly common sight on the streets of Dijeli cities Details of a so-called 'Bionic Arm' project, apparently aimed at creating more natural-looking artificial limbs for wounded FDDF service personnel returning from the conflict in Safraen. The project, which was apparently initiated in Febuary of 2013 by Santios Technologies at the request of the MoD, has been part-funded by the Dijeli government. However, untill now, the project has recived little attention from either military or civilian officials, although additional funds were apparently released to the project at the outbreak of the Safrean conflict. Although still in the late prototype phase, evaluation of casuelties aboard the FDDS Respite, the hospital ship moored at Hel Point Naval Station currently serving as quarentine quarters for returning wounded servicepeople, has yielded several potential candidates to be the first to recive the new limb, with the first operations potentially being able to go ahed in early June. The device itself utilises a revolutionary system whereby the limb function is controlled through nerve endings formerly attatched to the lost limb, and, although this is somewhat dependant on the condition of said nerves, this is a development which could revolutionise treatment of amputees across Mundus, with several medical groups apparently eyeing this project for possible introduction into civilian and foreign markets. In a parallel devlopment, FDDF sources report that a reorganisation of Dijeli forces in Safraen is imminent, following a similar announcement from East Moreland, with a shift in emphisis towards supporting the Republic of Safraen Army through the deployment of engineering and air units to replace the company-group mixed infantry and armour force currently forming the mainstayof Dijeli forces operating in Mornfire province. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Safraen Efforts Stepped Up ![]() Troops from the 14th Engineering Regiment embark their transport aircraft in Akim-Navosh, before heading to Safraen Following the recent successful military operations by Dijeli marine and parachute units in the west of Safraen, in parallel to those mounted by East Moreland in Polau and the USR in the east of the country, the FDDF has today announced that, over the last few hours and days, some 3,000 troops of the so-called 'Battlegroup Safraen' have been deployed to the Dijeli base of Mornfire DC, in Safraen's westernmost province. The force, it has been confirmed, consists of four Dijeli regiments: 8th Engineers, 14th Engineers, 12th Mechinised and 19th Armoured, between them fielding 2,250 infantry, 150 A-09-III battle tanks and 75 MCV-14 infantry fighting vehichles. The formation's commander, Brigadier Sir Steven Dabu, will take over command of Dijeli operations in the region from one Captain Garrien DaVosni, who commanded the initial crisis mission to the country some weeks ago. This will also mark the withdrawal of the 'first wave' of soldiers who were used to respond to the crisis - one company of paratroops, one tank platoon and the warship FDDS Darkheart - who will be brought back under quarentine conditions, to allay fears that the so-called 'Kaiju Virus' could be spread to the Dijeli population. In addition to these new ground units, which are to be deployed in support of the new Republic of Safraen Army units and to assist with rebuiling efforts, FDDF air and naval units are to be deployed to the area, it has been confirmed. Three destroyers, FDDS Escart, FDDS Wae and FDDS Tsort, have set sail from their base at Hel Point, Dauntel, for Mornfire DC, where they will be used to produce fresh water and for their precision-strike capability. Alongside, a squadron of Mi-24D mod. 8 multirole helicopters are to be deployed over the next few days to provide support and airlifting capabilities across the mountainous terrain. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Dijeli Rugby Team Triumphant in Confederation Cup! ![]() Dijeli players Quantu Dheli-Ehmus and Kheen Salraden celebrate on the pitch after the final whistle, while East Moreland players sink to the ground around them At the end of a thrilling five weeks, the Dijel have come out on top in the Confederation Cup, beating East Moreland, known as the 'Honey Badgers', in Northfort earlier today. After outstanding performances all round, in what was effectively the deciding match of the tourniment, the Dijeli team won a narrow victory over their opponents in what one commentator described as 'Quite possably the game of the decade, and certainly one of the greatest sporting sporting contests I have ever been lucky enough to witness'. After the end of the game, Dijeli captain Seamus Pickeln adressed the sell-out crowd, as his team-mates hoisted the trophy aloft, saying: "Yeah, I'm immensely proud of all the lads, but we wouldn't be here without either our backroom staff or our supporters, who've stuck with us all the way. This match was always gonna be tough, and these Moreland boys are rightfully one of the best teams in the world, but I think I speak for all the lads when I say that we're already looking forward to inviting them to Dijelibeybi next year!" With the 80,000-seater King David stadium filled to capacity, roughly 300,000 people belived to have watched the game on big screens in Northfort and Dijelibeybi, plus a peak television audience of well over two-hundered million in the Dijel alone, this match topped even the Independent Order Games in the DBC all-time most viewed live event, contributing an estimated R2,300,000 ($5,060,000) to the combined Dijeli and Moreland economies through shirt-sales, advertising and the local retail industries of all the cities showing the game live in public spaces. In the words of substitute Emmmerson Tsali: "I do love playing away!" Edited by Dijel, 10th May 2014 - 03:45 PM.

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Election Debate Moves Onto Foreign Policy ![]() Ihmran Ibn Nassir, leader of the Guiding Light party, speaking in a recent campaign broadcast The Dijeli general election campaign has today shifted focus onto foreign policy, with all four party leaders outlining their visions for future dealings abroad. With the Safraen crisis still ongoing, the oposition have also take the opertunity to berate the governing Liberal Alliance over their handling of the events, leaving Ronan Vallerius to defend his conduct of foreign affairs, citing sucesses with the CIS and Confederation Cup as proof of their adept handling of foreign affairs. Ihmran Ibn Nassir, leader of the Guiding Light party, has meanwhile broken most radically with the government line, criticizing both the government's delaings with the USR, which Mr Nassir has branded 'the greatest evil of our time', and the involvement of Dijeli troops in Safraen, on which he has accused the government of attempting to inflate their own image abroad with no regard to the cost to the Dijeli people. If his party win power this June, Mr Nassir said in an interview yesterday, they would immidiately sever ties with the USR and withdraw Dijeli troops from both Safraen and the Rokkenjima Sea, instead adopting a posture of so-called 'Proactive Protection' - to avoid Dijeli involvement in all but mattrs directly involving the Dijel, and to adopt a more assertive stance in Albion and the Sea of Kyne. Both the RPP and Labour Party, however, have stayed more the conventinal line, with the Labour Party applauding the swift deployment of assets to Safraen to mitigate the worst effects of the disaster, although deploring what they see as the government failing to prevent Safraen becoming merely another pawn in the ongoing struggle between the CSTO and WARSAW, a rivalry that pre-dates Dijeli involvement abroad. The RPP have rather focused their campaign more on domestic issues, arguing for Quintoppian-style reforms, should they be elected, and any future RPP government is widely expected to make sweeping cuts to the FDDF in order to finance these reforms. While preliminary reports suggest that the Liberal Alliance, currently in government, have the highest approval at present, there are still some weeks to go before the Dijel goes to the polls, and all three oposition parties will be looking to undermine what looks to have been a pretty successful term in office for Mr Vallerius. It is still, as they say, all to play for. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Dijeli PM Backs Aeternumese Calls for Superpower Restraint ![]() Aternumese Premier Alexander Zhou making his earlier adress Following comments made by the Aeternumese Premier, Alexander Zhou, broadcast on WKZ-tv earlier today, just as international leaders are said to be gathering in Northfort, East Moreland, to discuss the issue of Safraen, Dijeli Prime Minister Ronan Vallerius has publicly backed the Premier's call for the international community to 'Remember why we came to Safraen'. This comes as, in recent weeks, both the USR and CTSO have committed to troop deployments in the Cotf Arrayne region, with Safraen acting as another potential spark in their deadly game if superpower chess. Despite this, the CSTO has not yet had any direct involvement in Safraen itself, where USR and CIS, including Dijeli and East Moreland units, have predominantly been involved in disaster relief efforts, alongside the rival successor states known as the Republic of Safraen and the Socialist Republic of Safraen, respectively backed by the CIS and USR. Although this rivalry has led to fears of confrontation between the forces on the ground, both sides, in keeping with the calls for calm, maintained some form of working relationship; thus far, anyway. Taking a break from his reelection campaign, currently in the Klatchan city of Al Khali, the Prime Minister applauded the efforts of his Aeternumese counterpart, expressing the need for the international community to 'keep things in perspective' and not to 'forget the efforts of those who have died in the conflict - those who fought to save the people of Safraen, not to plunge the world into more senseless violence'. Unusually, opposition groups have also joined the appeal for calm, although, as many commentators have pointed out, none of them wants to risk inheriting a potentially dire situation, should they win next month's general election. Weather or not these calls will be heeded remains to be seen, with the hope being that the attendees of the 'Safraen Conference' in Northfort will heed these calls, although only time will tell. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION First Details of Safraen Operation Announced ![]() Dijeli and Republic of Safraen soldiers secure a village in Olr province, western Safraen Yesterday, the FDDF have announced, Dijeli, East Moreland and Republic of Safraen troops launched an operation to secure the province of Olr, in the central-western portion of the country, titled as 'Operation Archangel'. This move, coming amidst recent tensions over the region, has nonetheless been defended by the FDDF high command, who have commented that this is a Safraen-led operation to secure an area of the country that has so-far been beyond the reach of aid organisations since the disaster first struck. Futhermore, it has been noted, none of the constituent forces in this operation have any connection to the CSTO-USR build up around the Cotf Arrayne region. Having recently taken delivery of both arms and armour from their allies, including a warship from East Moreland that has reestablished the Safraen Navy, this has been the biggest test so far of Republic of Safraen resolve, with allied units acting in a more supporting role than they have thus far in the crisis. In addition to this, FDDF soutces have hinted that the Republic could be supplied with Dijeli JAS 39 fighter jets, which are currently in service with FDDF air units, although it is not known weather these will include decommissioned or currently active aircraft. By the end of this operation, it is hoped, the Republic of Safraen will find itself in control of fully two of the five former provinces of Safraen, Mornfire and Olr, with an additional sliver of territory around the former capital of Polau, which is currently home to both USR and CIS forces, along with other minor involved parties, in a kind of uneasy alliance. This will still leave the Republic, territorially speaking, on a fairly even footing with the Socialist Safraen, the USR-backed puppet state in the east of the country, although the Republic claims to have a far greater number of citizens within its boarders, with reports of refugees still continuing to find their way west to camps near the coast, particularly Goodlanding, which as become essentially the acting capital of the country. Against this backdrop, a recent Rokkenjiman declaration offering a so-called 'Diplomatic Off-Ramp' for the USR in the tensions between the two over the region has been met with a sense of incredulousness from prominent members of the Republic, with Professor Leroy Haltzinger, a member of the ruling triumvirate interim government, speaking at the DBC office in Goodlanding earlier, said: "I cannot belive what has been proposed here - Rokkenjima proposes to give away what they have no claim to: when we found ourselves in our darkest hour, they would not lift a finger in our aid, and now that we are rising to our feet once more they take it upon themselves to decide our fate! And they accuse the USR of imperialism! Pah, at least the Chairman Stalin has the decency to get his hands dirty before making outragous declarations" |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Prime Minister Hints at FDDF Naval Plan The FDDS Excalibur, an experimental missile frigate currently undergoing sea trials, could be in service with the FDDF as early as this July, with other vessels in her class roumored to be planned After a recent spate of naval expantion orders in recent weeks, including those announced by neighbouring Dartfordia, current Prime Minister, Ronan Vallerius, has finally given a stance on the matter. Speaking at a local party conference in Karanak, Dijelibeybi province, ahed of next months' general election, he hinted that his ongoing programme of military equipment renewal could be rolled out to the navy, should he win reelection. Presumably, this would include to some extent the FDDS Excalibur project, currently being run by the FDDF naval office, to produce an effective surface-to-surface light combat vessel with some form of stealth capability. However, he reiterated that this vessel should not be taken as any kind of threat, implicit or otherwise, against neighbouring nations. Instead, he cited the need for the FDDF to 'move with the times', noting that the currently large fleet of ships includes a variety of classes of varying age, with the oldest vessel curretly in service being FDDS Ironhand, an Iron-class Battlecruiser laid down in 1897, which is currently in service as a gunnery training ship, although this role is largely nominal, as her plethora of battle honors make her an object of national distinction, having served in several of the pivitol Dijeli sea battles of the las centuary. This vessel the Prime Minister vowed to turn over as a museum piece, subsiquently declaring that: "The first line of defence for the Dijel has always been our diplomatic corps: tact and grace can do much more to protect our people than all the guns and bombs in the world". During the same conference, the Prime Minister was drawn on the matter of the Illumic Channel blockade, saying "I feel for the lad, I really do, he's clearly been quite spooked by such a large force arrive practically at his doorstep, especially for such an inexperienced statesman, but I don't feel as if either side has handled this particularly well. As for us, the only warships we have beyond the channel are safely ensconced in Goodlanding, and our supply routes to Safraen are largely conducted by air, so we have little reason to become involved - this, at least, should be one crisis that we can weather from a safe distance" In a related development, the forces involved in Operation Lone Ranger, the initial intervention mission in Safraen, primarily the crew and marines of FDDS Darkheart, are to recive a new battle honor, it has been announced. Upon their return, the honor 'Into the Heart of Darkness (2014)' will be added to their tally, alongside a number of personal decorations for their part played in the international aid effort to the country. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Dijlei Squad for Tytor World Cup Confirmed! ![]() The Dijeli team lines up ahed of a friendly last week, showing off their new kit for the first time New manager Sven Fredrichsson has made the biggest move of his tenure so far in the hot seat, naming his squad for the second World Cup, which is to be held in Tytor, after his appointment in the wake of the previous cup, for which the Dijel fell agonisingly short of qualifying for. With speculation having run rife since his selection of a providional squad, shortly after his apoointment, Mr Fredrichsson has seemingly left it late to announce his chosen 23-man squad who will compete in the tourniment, although weather this is a deliberate tactic or simply a sign of indecision is a hot topic for football fans around the country. Without further ado, the squad has been announced as follows: Goalkeepers: GK: L. Allegro - #1 GK: D. Kayanne - #13 GK: B. Chalukkia - #23 Defenders: LB: T. Svannson - #2 LB: S. Borenov - #12 CB: B. Ossenhausen - #3 CB: F. Richtenburg - #4 CB: L. Simmonds - #14 CB: K. Zorah - #19 RB: E. von Bune - #5 RB: A. Bluth-Konn - #15 Midfielders: CDM: P. Imal - #17 LM: R. Tishmel - #6 LM: F. Lothar - #21 CM: C. Dorlan - #7 CM: A. Ackbarr - #8 CM: F. T'Laali - #16 RM: K. Delponte - #9 RM: M. Chakwas - #20 CAM: W. Hoolen - #10 Attackers: RW: N. Goji - #22 ST: K. Sponnar - #11 ST: P. Motić - #18 This reveals several changes from the provisional squad, which are reflected in both the changing fortunes of teams in the Dijeli Premier League (DPL) and a slight change in ethos from the manager, who is apparently unhappy with the attitudes shown by several players during friendly games. Of the first eleven - although these do not dictate who will start every match, they are an indicator of intent - only three have changed from the provisional side, with Kevin Sponnar, Adam Ackbarr and Freddie Richtenburg coming in for Phillip Motić, Martaan Sto Laat and Verlan Martains. Otherwise, the squad is fairly ballanced, with an indication of a 4-4-1-1 formation to be played, as was on display during last weeks' friendly, with Nikolas Goji giving the option of a threat down either flank and Petros Imal providing a solid holding midfield role, should the team have to dig in and protect a lead. This comes as the DPL, the leage from which the majority of these players are drawn, looks to make itself more exportable, with a weekly results roundup potentially moving to the DBC world service at the beginning of next season. And, while the memories of the recent Confederation Cup win are still fresh in the minds of the Dijeli people, the government has sought to build on the growing popularity of such sporting events to encorage more people into sport, with construction underway on community sports facilities in several cities throughout the federation. Although, from the point of view of the DPL, this only serves to strengthen their competition, as the fledgling rugby leagues have seen a massive boost in ticket sales since that cup arrived in Dijelibeybi, so the footballers will be hoping to bring home some silverwear of their own from this outing. |

[big[DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION[/big] Ministry of Culture Promises Events ![]() The ministry of culture in Dijelibeybi, from where these latest initiatives have been planned In a break from international affairs, the Dijeli ministry of culture has announced a series of initiatives due to run across the summer period. Although several political commentators have dismissed these as an election-year gimmick, the MoC maintains that these have been on the books for some time, and will not only be aimed at Dijeli citizens, but also tourists and international entries, too. With the 2014 Dijelibeybi Air Show due to begin in just under a weeks' time, it is certainly a busy time for the ministry, who have often been overlooked in the past in favour of the more influential foreign and defence ministries, both of whom have also been rather proactive in recent months. With the Tytor World Cup very much in the public eye of late, it came as no suprise that one of the most-hyped planned initiatives was the proposal to schedule several international friendlies after the tourniment has completed, although both the mens and womens teams will be in action, if suitable opponents can be found. Another popular proposal was the announcement that an international music festival would be held later this year in Al Khali, on the Klatchan coast, with tickets being offerred at the nominal price of R1, in an effort to boost tourism in the area. The third and final proposed initiative to come out of the MoC today was for an upscaling of DBC services to occur from July, with re-vamped weekly news bullitains and a ressurection of the 'new programming' cut due to budget restrictions some months ago. In other news, the foreign office recently issued a small comgratulatory statement towards the members of the newly-founded CSU, an extention of the long-lived Cross-Straits-Treaty-Organisation, who now constitute the largest trading bloc on mundus, overtaking the five-strong CIS, which includes the Dijel, overnight. Despite this potential for rivalry, the foreign office stated that they remain committed to the principals of free-trade and welcome any move to reduce trade restrictions actoss Mundus. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Tytor World Cup Gets Underway ![]() The squad training at their World Cup base in Tytor, ahed of their upcoming group match against Novincia Following the commencing of the second IFFA World Cup, hosted in Tytor, pundits have begun circling in the Dijeli camp over the team's prospects in the competition. Their grouping, in with hosts Tytor and veterans Novincia, has put pressure on the management to deliver from the off, and the wait for their first game has been agonising, as tw players could only look on as Tytor cruised to a 3-1 win over Novincia in the first game of the group. Due to that result, this first game could be crucial for Dijel: a win would put them firmly in contention to win the group, while a loss would be disastrous. However, the team will not go into this game without support: thousands of Dijeli fans have flocked to the World Cup, some staying in Tytor and others traveling in on the Albion rail network, only a short journy from Sto Laat. Squad morale is also said to be high, with this being their first oppertunity to prove themselves in a competitive international match, and the proposition of facing a side who suffered such a crushing defeat such a short time ago has left some fans sensing blood. Despite this, all agree, most of the players will feel much better when they get their first feel of Tytorian turf under their boots in Tsarguard on Thursday; rhe match will be broadcast live on DBC 1, do be sure to tune in! Tactically, Mr Fredrichsson will most likely be looking to capitalise on Novincia's poor defending in their last match, with Nikolas Goji odds-on to start ahed of the more defensively-minded Kevin Delponte on the right side of midfield. Additionally, speculation has it that both of the squad's strikers, Motić and Sponnar, may start this match, in place of the favoured five-across-the-middle, in an effort to capitalise on the situation, although the starting eleven will not be confirmed untill match day, and some find it quite unlikely that Mr Fredrichsson would risk all three of his front men in a single match, with only attacking midfielder Wes Hoolen able to bost any real of experience playing up front outside of these three players. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Guiding Light Party in Dijelibeybi March ![]() A Guiding Light party member holds aloft a placard bearing an image of their party leader, Mr Ihmran Ibn Nassir Earlier today, a large-scale political rally took place in Dijelibeybi's Salzuka Square, in the north of the city, where Guiding Light Party supporters turned out in droves to support their leaders' first visit to the capital during this general election campaign. Despite the large numbers of people out on the streets, between 7,000 and 10,000 by most estimates, proceedings mercifully went by peacefully, with a modorate police presence to allay fears of violence breaking out between Mr Ibn Nassir's supporters and the far-right Dijeli National Faction (DNF). And, although the DNF did stage their planned counter-march, only one arrest was made, police report, as a DNF activist attempted to disrupt the Guiding Light Party's speeches by throwing a maritime distress flare into the square. Among a glut of guest speekers, Mr Ibn Nassir himself made an impassioned and crowd-pleasing speech to his supporters in the square, with the sound reported at one point to be audible from four miles away. In his usual charismatic style, Mr Ibn Nassir, regarded by many as a rising star of Dijeli politics, reiterated the main points of his party's general election campaign so far: an end to 'interventionalism' in foreign affairs, a reform of the monarchy and a reduction of spending on the FDDF. Although largely focusing on positive points, he also took a swipe at his fellow oposition parties, berating the Dijeli Labour Party for being "embittered and angry" while later labelling the Reformed Peoples' Party (RPP) as "Hopeless dreamers - university socialists with no knowledge of the real world" In a paralell development, the Ministry of Defence has earlier announced that a contract to construct further vessels of the type seen in FDDS Excalibur, now officially designated as the Excalibur-class corvette, has been awarded to Dijelibeybi and Provincial Heavy Industry (DPHI), with work being due to begin later this week. Although the MoD have declined to comment on the cost or number of the vessels to be produced, the number is known to be 'higher than a dozen', with the new vessel expected to take over the duties of existing small warships by the end of 2015. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION FDDF Confirm Safraen Fatalities An FDDF LCV-10 on patrol in Mornfire province, western Safraen In the last week, an FDDF spokesperson has today confirmed, three Dijeli soldiers have been killed in action in Safraen, taking the total number of Dijeli fatalities in the two-month old conflict up to seven. The soldiers, all believed to be from C Company, 3rd Marine Infantry Regiment, attached to the warship FDDS Darkheart, which was deployed at the very beginning of the crisis, with men from the vessel's marine detachment being the first foreign troops to make landfall in the stricken country after the crisis began. Although the identities of the fallen soldiers have not been publicly released, their next of kin have been informed, their names will soon be added to the Khe'Lao war memorial, in Dijelibeybi, alongside those of every Dijeli soldier killed whilst on duty since the creation of the FDDF in 1979. Furthermore, the Dijeli football team will be wearing black arm bands during their upcoming match against Novincia, with a request for a one-minute silence before the start of play submitted to the Tytorian World Cup authorities. In the same statement, it was disclosed that all three of the dead soldiers were among the twelve listed as 'missing in action' since two weeks ago, although the remaining nine have returned to allied lines alive and well, with their families, too, having been notified of this development. With regards of the ongoing Safraen conference, the foreign ministry have commented, saying that this sacrifice must not be forgotten, but honoured, pledging to find a solution for the crisis and bring the some 3,000 Dijeli troops currently deployed to the country. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION 'Our War' Documentary Airs on DBC1 ![]() Reporter Louis Gianfranco poses with troops from C Company, 1st Parachute Regiment on their return from Safraen The documentary 'Our War' has this evening aired on DBC1, a mainstay of the Dijeli terrestrial television roster, detailing the true stories of Dijeli soldiers on the ground in Safraen, with a team of reporters sharing the lives of the soldiers around Goodlanding, Sangran and Kyrimyre. The programme also fetures 'helmet cam' footage, shot by some of the soldiers themselves, including a sequence from the initial marine landings on the coast of Mornfire, where the city of Goodlanding has since come to be. The film has caused a wave of sentiment back in the Dijel, with donations to ex-servicemen's charities rising sharply during and after the hour-long programme. One of the main participants in the project, Cprl Joeseph 'Joe' Varlo, of C Company 1st Parachute Regiment, unde the callsign 'Outback 5-5', provided footage shot through his personal helmet camera detailing the battles of Sangran and Kyrimyre, as well as the day-to-day lives of the soldiers in his platoon, and was later interviewed by Gianfranco at FOB Kyrimyre, providing a unique insight into the workings of the FDDF and their involvement in Safraen. In the end, the programme paid tribute to those seven killed in the conflict so far, and showed a short clip of injured paratrooper Lt Sam 'Kevin' Peters, who lost part of his leg during the battle for Kyrimyre, reciving a new artificial limb based off the so-called 'Bionic Arm' project, detailed in a DBC article some weeks ago. The overall view is a positive, if somewhat sobering, take on the Safraen disaster from the viewpoint of some of the men who were there. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Republic of Safraen Reclaim Polau ![]() Polau, the capital of Safraen, as it stood in 2009, high up in the mountains that dominate much of the country Yesterday, it has been announced, Republic of Safraen Army troops reached Polau, the pre-disaster capital of Safraen, ending the two-month absence of Safraenese rule in the city. For the majority of that time, the city has been under the control of a joint multinational force, including troops from both WARSAW and CIS nations, with the JET and Ossirian CDIC administering aid to the survivors. Although Dijeli involvement has been largely confined to the west of the country, a small congrigent of FDDF marines are now known to have participated in a long-distance mission into the city early in the crisis, with the most recent three fatalites of the FDDF occuring in the city. With the Republic of Safraen now appearing to retake control of Polau, the crisis would seem to be largely under control, although there still remains the question of the Soviet successor state in the east of the country, which the authorities in Goodland seem quite happy to ignore, for the time being. Despite this doubt, the FDDF has today applauded the efforts of the RoSA, stating that this marks the begining of the the withdrawal phase of Dijeli troops from the country, although a small numer of Dijeli personnel could remain behind to assist the Republic in more specialist areas, it was added. In other news, today is the East Moreland festival known as the Feast of Greenflowers. Due to the lifting of travel restrictions under the CIS, Dijelibeybi has garnered a small community of Moreland expatriates, as have several other Dijeli cities, with small celebrations due to take place in the capital and elsewhere to mark the event. We here at the DBC wish them all a good time. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION 2014 Dijelibeybi Air Show Takes Off ![]() Spectators gather in Dijelibeybi to witness the premier gathering of advanced aircraft on Mundus The 2014 Dijelibeybi Air Show has today begun, with this morning's exibition of EMAC's Dragonskin fighter jet being the first of this years' show. The show, which features demonstrations of military and civilian aircraft, has been widely touted as the foremost stage for advanced aviation, with domestic hype fuelled by rumors that a next-generation fighter jet will be unveiled at the show, following a comment from an FDDF official that the Republic of Safraen could recive the JAS 39 fighters currently in service with the FDDF air forces. EMAC are one of several international manufacturers participating in the air show for the first time, along with companies from Kazarovia, Aeternum and newcomers to the international stage Tener. Despite this emphisis on international buisness, the air show remains a big date on the local calendar, with tens of thousands of people from around the Dijel expected to attend the show, if only for the spectacle. In addition, tomorrow will also see a preliminary test by Team HoneyBadger, the Moreland team attempting to beat the current land speed record; although not, strictly speaking, and aircraft, their strong links to the aerospace industry, as well as their crowd drawing potential, convinced the organisers to include them in their schedule. In other news, the Dijeli General Elections are only a few weeks away now, and all four main political parties stepping up their efforts to attract votors in several key constituencies. Ronan Vallerius' Liberal Alliance leading the opinion polls going into the last few weeks, although the radical Guiding Light party seem to be the suprise package this year, with a tenfold increace in approval from three years ago. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION FDDF Reveal New Fighter Aircraft! ![]() An image of the fighter, apparently taken during testing over Klatch, circulated at the Dijelibeybi Air Show This morning, at the Dijelibeybi Air Show, a new Dijeli fighter aircraft has been exhibited, known as the JAS 44, or Gyrfalcon. The aircraft, which has been developed by Saewoo Avionics of Ephebe, will apparently be replacing the current-generation fighter jet, the JAS 39 'Grippen', later this year, after some quarter of a centuary of service. As hinted by the FDDF in recent weeks, some decommissioned JAS 39 aircraft will likely be used to reequip the Republic of Safraen Air Force, while others may be transferred to training schools or sold off to private collectors or foreign allies. This follows a broader pattern of FDDF modernisation, with the Excalibur-class corvette due to enter naval service later this year and ground forces having already recived completely new small-arms and armour. Analysts and commentators are split on this development, however, with some claiming that this new aircraft signals a more aggressive stance in foreign policy, as the stealth charicteristics and air-to-ground armament of this aircraft could potentially allow it to hold a first-strike threat against foreign targets, even those protected by sophisticated anit-aircraft defences. On the other hand, some view this aircraft having a more defensive role, arguing that its payload it too light to facilitate a stratigic threat, although its speed and air-to-air potency would allow it to fulfil more the role of interceptor, with the stealth aspects being included to provide an edge over most hostile aircraft in a missile engagement. The FDDF has so far declined to comment further. In other news, the Dijel have sufferred an early defeat to Novincia in Tytor, sending them bottom of their World Cup group, although they have more games to play. The game finished 2-3, although Dijel pulled ahed twice they were twice pegged pack, finally being beaten by an injury-time sickener. Despite the loss, the Dijeli players interviewed post-match seemed upbeat about their situation overall, with goalscorer Kevin Sponnar bemoaning a penality shout he's had in the first ten minutes, going down under the challenge of a Novincian centre-half from a corner. However, he continued, the result stood and they could only hope that their form could bring them better results in future. Midfielder Christian Dorlan scored the second Dijeli goal, and later collected man of the match, despite apparently giving the ball away in the buildup to the second Novincian goal. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Royal Conundrum Plagues Politicians ![]() The present monarch, King Teppicamemanon IX, pictured here at a recent civic engagement In the recent election campaigns, the Dijeli monarchy have been much in the limelight, with their current ceremonial existance causing a certain headache for Dijeli politicians. As it stands, the monarch has very few powers, largely due to the manner of their reinstatement, in 1980, when the King returned from excile to post-revolutionary Dijel, apparently under the impression that his family would be restored to power, and was promptly reduced to attending civic functions and traditional events. At this present time, the Dijeli crown is belived to be the least empowered on Mundus. Lately, however, the issue has once again come under scrutiny, after a Reformed Peoples' Party candidate for Al Khali let slip that she considerred the monarchy to be archaic and would back plans to remove them in favour of an elected head of state, with increased powers over those currently enjoyed by the crown. This has led to speculation on social media of a 'Dijeli Doge' being elected, should the RPP win next months' ballot. The Dijeli Labour Party (DUP) have since added fuel to the fire, a party spokesperson announcing that they would support a referendum on the matter, while the governing Liberal Alliance (LA) have defended their current stance to preserve the monarchy as is, describing them as 'a centeral part of our history and culture, and definately a boost to tourism'. The Guiding Light Party (GLP), however, have gone the other way, promicing to increace the monarch's powers, pointing to East Moreland and Rokkenjima as successful examples of modern monarchal government. DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION FDDF Completes Safraen Withdrawal ![]() Handing over: Dijeli soldiers run down the flag at Mornfire DC for the last time Earlier today, an FDDF spokesperson has announced, the last Dijeli units were withdrawn from Safraen, some having spent nearly three months in the country, since responding to the disaster there. However, it was added, a small number of Dijeli military personnel will remain in the country, acting in an advisory role to local security forces, although the Republic of Safraen army have now assumed total control over all bases in the country established by the FDDF durning their time there. During the withdrawal, it has been stressed, all returning equipment was thoroughly sanitised before being flown back, and all personnel from Battlegroup Safraen will go through stringent medical screening, followed by a short quarantine period, before being allowed to return home. That said, a good deal of equipment has been left to the Republic, including LCV-10 all-terrain vehicles, armoured engineering vehicles surplus rations. This has taised some eyebrows back home, however, with some questioning why the Republic of Safraen has recived so much military equipment, when what is really required on the ground is basic food and medical supplies, although the Foreign Office has been quick to stress that all these things being left behind do have practical applications, either in rebuilding or distributing aid, and that large amounts of Dijeli aid have already been delivered and distributed, including shelters, food and clean water. In other news, the CIS (Confederation of Independant States) headquarters has today formally been moved to Achkaerin, from its original location in Verover, one of the founding members of the alliance which has unfortunately withdrawn recently from the Confederation due to domestic issues. This move has followed a competition to design a new headquarters, in which several Dijeli designers competed, although evidently none were successful. |

DIJELI BRIADCASTING CORPORATION Back in the Game! ![]() Striker Phillip Motić celebrates his winning goal against hosts Tytor At the World Cup, Dijel have bounced back from their first-game dissapointment against Novincia, winning a cagey 1-0 victory overs hosts Tytor, with out of favour forward Phillip Motić netting the first, and only, goal of the game in the 62nd minute, blasting a half-volley from the edge of the area past the Tytorian keeper. This result puts Dijel back on points parity with the other teams in their group, both of whom are ranked higher by the IFFA, and second on goal difference, with qualification for the knockout stage 'well within their grasp', according to the manager. This has been taken as a credit to the resilience of the Dijeli players, whom, having lost in injury time to Novincia, put in a sterling performance at the back to keep their first clean sheet of the competition. All this, however, comes after a considerable shake-up at the back, with marauding left-back Tim Svannson being replaced by the more stallwart Steván Borenov, and prospect Liam Simmonds replacing the injured Frank Richtenburg. A further change to the side that lost against Novincia was the reinstatement of Phillip Motić as a supporting striker, at the expence of attacking midfielder Wesly Hoolen, although Hoolen did make a brief cameo after coming on for youngster Kevin Sponnar in the 85th minute. In other news, the Dijeli government has, earlier this morning, condemned a terrorist attack in Northfort, apparently an assasination attempt against King Josiah I of Seaforth, departing the Moreland capital following talks with King David of East Moreland, himself the target of an attempted assasination earlier in the year. The King of Seaforth has said to have survived the attack, and is reciving medical care in East Moreland, although the authorities have declined to comment on his current condition. The Federal government has also announced that it is 'considering measures' to track down Princess Harper Rhodes of Seaforth, suspected by the Seaforthian governent of being behind the attack, with an arrest warrent issued in the wake of the attack being passed on to police. More on this story as it develops. Edited by Dijel, 19th June 2014 - 04:56 PM.

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Scientists Warn of Desertification Effect ![]() The Dijeli desert currently covers large parts of both the provinces of Dijelibeybi and Klatch, and is growing steadily, according to scientists A report, based on reaserch conducted by scientists at the Muala Kona Institute in Klatch, has been published today, indicating that, if current trends continue, three quarters of the Dijel could be coverred in desert within fifty years, with that projected ratio increacing to ninety-five percent after a centuary. The report, however, is based on preliminary data, although this trend of 'desertification' has been noted previously, although this is the first report to put such a stark figure on it. This trend is put down to several factors, including rising global temperatures and over-farming along the edges of the desert zone, while the planting of woodland to create 'buffer zones' has been touted as one possible solution. The political reaction to this finding has been mixed, with most parties takimg the neutral political line, for example the ruling Liberal Alliance pledging to 'consider all options to resolve this situation' and encoraging that their green policies, such as the switch away from fossil fuel power stations, are helping to relive the situation. The Guiding Light party, usually the political outlier, were markedly muted on the situation, despite one of their parliamentary candidates supposedly claiming that this is 'god's punishment for homosexuality', apparently relating to the legal status of gay marrage in the Dijel. The Reformed Peoples' Party, however, announced bold plans for the irrigation of certain parts of the desert fringe, both preventing desert expantion and providing employment oppertunities in one fell swoop. The Dijeli desert has a fair amount fo significance in Dijeli culture, having shaped the lifestyle of the early Dijeli people and later provided protection from foreign invasion. It has, however, posed significant issues, like this one, for example, and traditionalists and locals are bound to oppose any measure that would drastically effect their home and way of life. Whatever happens, this is an issue the next government will, without a doubt, have to face. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Further Arrests in Borland Drugs Case! ![]() Armed police were deployed to the Klatchan town of Surban early this morning Several arrests have been made following an early-hours police raid in the Klatchan town of Surban, 115Km north of Tsort, a police spokesperson has confirmed. The operation, conducted by an armed police unit using what have been described as commando-style tactics, has apparently uncoverred a substantial drug facility, along with several members of the Espinenza cartel, a group with supposed links to the Borland terrorist group. This haul, amounting to several tonnes of prohibited substances, is among the largest ever seizures of drugs by Dijeli police, and has been counted as a major blow against a group who have caused growing problems in the southeast over recent years. The Espinenza cartel, a group believed by some intelligence analysts to have links to East Moreland's Borland separatist group, among other foreign criminal organisations, have been posing increasing problems for local authorities in Klatch and Akim-Navosh since their move into the area in mid-2012, and are known to have a hand in several illicit activities, such as narcotics, human trafficking and arms dealing. This raid is the second large-scale operation conducted against them this year, the first targeting a regional leader in Ephebe, an indicator of just how seriously law enforcement agencies regard them to be. This policy was vindicated by a recent estimate that this group alone are involved in up to 45% of narcotic-related offences in the Dijel, weather supplying or being caught in possession. Political leaders have rallied against such activities in the aftermath of this operation, however, with several different policies being touted as possible solutions to the matter. The Dijeli Labour Party have backed a proposal to legalise and regulate the narcotics industry, cutting off the demand for illegal drug smuggling and thus starving the cartel of income. The Guiding Light Party, however, have taken the opposite stance, promising a tougher line against such criminals, with extended sentences and a greater use of armed police units to 'tackle the problem head on'. The ruling Liberal Alliance, meanwhile, have pledged to continue their 'smart campaign' against the cartel, educating children to the dangers of drugs, as well as a targeted use of police resources to slowly squeeze the cartel into an ever tighter corner. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Ministry of Defence Confirms New Shipbuilding Contracts ![]() An artists' concept image of the Alliance-Class Frigate, one of several new designs being introduced into the FDDF fleet The FDDF Naval Command has today revealed plans to revamp the Dijeli fleet, following similar reforms this year of ground and air forces. Several new classes are to be introduced, including the recently-announced Excalibur-class corvette, with vessels expected to be deliverred from early June through to the end of January 2015. With the aforementioned corvettes to be takng over duties from the plethora of current small vessels in the Dijeli fleet, the Alliance-class will be replacing current-generation frigates and the Town-class will be taking over destroyer duties in the near future. While Heart-class cruisers will be maintained, as will both aircraft carriers, all other cruisers and heavy cruisers have been declared obselite, and are shortly to be retired or sold off for scrap. Despite this tremendous outlay, the Ministry of Defence have defended their actions in ordering these ships, pointing out that, although a significant number of vessels are to be built, they will be replacing an even larger number of older vessels, providing better long-term value for money than maintaining and upgrading an aging fleet. Furthermore, by phasing out the exensive heavy cruisers, increasingly irrelivent in the modern world, a switch to smaller, more flexable warships has been facilitated, increacing humanitarian, as well as warfighting, capability within the fleet. In other news, the Dijeli team for this months' Ostlake Military Games, the East Moreland military competition in which allied nations will be competing in for the first time, has today been announced. A mixed-unit team, feturing the best of the FDDF's sporting talent, although, naturally, certain units have dominated certain areas. A detatchment from the 85th Infrantry Regiment wil be taking over drill duties, having spent the last six months on ceremonial duties around Dijelibeybi, while the sharphooting team is dominated by members of the 101st Infantry Regiment. The Prime Minister has wished the team luck as they flew out earlier, expressing his support for both international exchanges, and the Dijeli ex-servicemens' charities hoping to benefit from the event. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Bring It On, Says Team Captain ![]() Dijeli players file dejectedly from the pitch, following their previous loss to Novincia earlier in the campaign With the second IFFA match against Novincia coming up in only a few days, Dijeli captain Charlie Dorlan has spoken out on social media, in an attempt to galvanise the Dijeli fans and his team mates into action, perhaps hoping to avoid a repeat of their earlier encounter with Novincia, in which they lost to an injury time penelty. Since then, the Dijel have scored a victory agaist hosts Tytor, and currently have a game in hand over their group rivals, although they currently sit bottom of the group by a single point. In his rallying call, Charlie quoted a well-known Dijeli chef and football fan, coining the tag #letsbeavinyou, which has since been reposted thousands of times on various media sites. The twenty-eight year-old Christopher Dorlan first broke into the national team almost a decade ago, an has since been a reliable performer in the middle of the park, gaining the captaincy for this world cup campaign, the first under new manager Fredrichsson, over several more experienced players in the squad. Having scored once so far in the tourniment, in their first meeting with Novincia, making him joint top scorer alongside strikers Kevin Sponnar and Phillip Motić. In other news, the Reformed Peoples' Party have criticised the government's recent decision to order the procurment of dozens of new warships for the FDDF, announcing that, if they were elected, they would reduce, if now withdraw completely, the order, diverting funding instead to their favoured areas of social welfare and education. DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION The Damming Question ![]() A concept drawing of one of the proposed dams, this one on the upper Dijel Dijeli politicians have again locked horns over a proposal for the constuction of a series of dams, along the river Dijel and ofher waterways in Klatch, as a potential suppliment to the current solar energy programme. The project would also create a two large man-made lakes, both in southern Dijelibeybi province, which proponents of the scheme argue could be utilised to help irrigate sections of the Dijeli desert, turning the arid land either side of the lush river corridor into productive farmland. However, opponents of the scheme maintain that, by effectively blocking waterways, this scheme would have a devistating impact on the biological diversity of Dijeli waterways. The scheme, which would be a collaboration between the government and several private firms, has been touted as part of the current government's green energy scheme, alongside solar arrays already in place and the planned tidal barrages around the mouth of the Dijel and Dauntel. Current coal-fired fossil fuel power stations are due to be decommissioned in late 2017, with the few nuclear plants currently in operation to begin winding down two years later, so projects like this are neciccary, the government claim, to ensure that the energy supply in future is secure. In other news, one of the leading members of the Espinenza cartel, arrested last weekend during a major drug raid in the Klatchan town of Surban, has gone on trial today at Tsort High Court. Michael Steffintulatio, 49, has apparently pleaded not guilty to eight charges of possession of banned substances with intent to supply, three charges of possession of an unlicenced firearm and one charge of conspiricy to commit murder. The trial is expected to last for some time, with the prosecution pressing for a maximum life sentence for Mr Steffintulatio, although the defendant is well-reprisented. In a seperate case, police are said to be investigating the rumoured links between the Espinenza cartel and the Borland terrorist group, based on documents discoverred during the raid, raising the possibility of further charges of conspiring with a terrorist organisation or conspiricy to commit acts of terror being brought against the Mr Steffintulation and other members of the Espinenza cartel currently in custody. More on this as it comes out. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION The Dijel Goes to the Polls ![]() Crowds thronged the streets of Dijelibeybi earlier, as a traditional public holiday spans the election period Voting has today begun in the 2014 Dijeli General Elections, with polling stations open from six o'clock this morning until the same time tomorrow afternoon, and results expected to be confirmed at some point on friday. So far in this campaign, the ruling Liberal Alliance, in power since their last victory back in 2013, have been edging ahed, although three other main parties look set to make good headway in the race to form the next government, with the Guiding Light Party being touted as the potential surprise package this time around. Aside from the 'big four' parties: the Liberal Alliance, Reformed Peoples' Party, Dijeli Labour Party and Guiding Light Party, a number of smaller parties and limited-agenda movements are vying for voters' attention, although none is expected to get more than a handful of MPs at the Federal Assembly. The current largest minority party, the Green Party, currently hold 34 of the 1,000 seats in the assembly, although their geographic diversity has thus-far prevented them from gaining any major footholds in Provincial Assemblies, although they do control Wae city council, and have a fair record in local elections. At the present time, six parties have MPs in the Federal assembly, with even more expected to contest the thousand seats up for grabs over the next two days. In addition to representing their constituency on a Federal level, MPs are also tasked with participating in Provincial Assemblies, as the Dijel is a Federation, giving parties with strong regional connections an edge over those without. A conclusive list of parties contesting this election is below: Liberal Alliance - 481 Seats Leader: Ronan Vallerius Reformed Peoples' Party - 182 Seats Leader: Katerina Delbrovnic Dijeli Labour Party - 224 Seats Leader: Martha Heilat Guiding Light Party - 62 Seats Leader: Ihmran Ibn Nassir Green Party - 34 Seats Leader: Elsie Williams Dijeli Royalist Party - 17 Seats Leader: Edmund Sto Heilat National Liberation Front - 0 Seats Leader: Rene Bouchard Dijeli Pirate Party - 0 Seats Leader: Elroy Barque Klatchan Freedom Movement - 0 Seats Leader: Christi dos Karrelier National Front - 0 Seats Leader: Ryan Forstell Localist Alliance - 0 Seats Leader: Bolo T'Losi |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION And The Winner Is… ![]() Results have unfortunately been delayed by a day due to above-expectation turnout With all the votes from the 2014 Dijeli General Election now in and counted, the results are now in. Winning a landmark second term in office, Ronan Vallerius' Liberal Alliance have again triumphed, albeit at a reduced margin from three years ago, despite a significant shakeup of the lowwer orders. Riding on the back of a fairly successful three years, the Liberal Alliance have led the polls throughout, so this win has come as little suprise for the politically astute, although a number of issues have been used by the opposition in an attempt to undermine the government's position, particularly the conservative backlash over the Dijeli entry into the Safraen crisis, although public opinion has since vindicated the government's decision to become involved in the crisis. In his victory speech, to a gathering of the party faithful in Dijelibeybi, Prime Minister Vallerius thanked those who had voted for him, whilst promicing to build on his previous term in driving the country forward. Meanwhile, although the Liberal Alliance have retained their position, a shake-up of Dijeli government hierarchy, particularly ministerial positions, is expected in the near future, as the Prime Minister seeks to build on this win. A full break-down of the election results is displayed below: Liberal Alliance - 455 Seats (-26) Leader: Ronan Vallerius Dijeli Labour Party - 240 Seats (+16) Leader: Martha Heilat Reformed Peoples' Party - 157 Seats (-25) Leader: Katerina Delbrovnic Guiding Light Party - 90 Seats (+28) Leader: Ihmran Ibn Nassir Green Party - 24 Seats (-8) Leader: Elsie Williams Dijeli Royalist Party - 18 Seats (+1) Leader: Edmund Sto Heilat Localist Alliance - 7 Seats (+7) Leader: Bolo T'Losi National Liberation Front - 5 Seats (+5) Leader: Rene Bouchard Dijeli Pirate Party - 2 Seats (+2) Leader: Elroy Barque Klatchan Freedom Movement - 0 Seats Leader: Christi dos Karrelier National Front - 0 Seats Leader: Ryan Forstell |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Vallerius in Cabinet Resuffle ![]() In office for his second term; PM Ronan Vallerius announced his latest upper echelon changes at a press conference this afternoon After the recent election triumph of his Liberal Alliance at last weeks' general elections, Prime Minister Ronan Vallerius has today announced a major reshuffle of his Liberal-dominated cabinet, although a number of prominent members of the Liberals' minor partners have been included, in an effort to show that he is 'building on success' - as the slogan goes - rather than presenting 'more of the same' - as the opposition claim. This comes despite the earlier announcement that the Dijeli Labour Party and Reformed Peoples' Party had come to an arrangement to form a much larger opposition bloc, which, although the Liberal Alliance still hold sway at a national level, gives them a large amount of ground at both a local and provincial level, particularly in the urban areas that both parties have historically done well in. A full list of cabinet ministers is given below: •Prime Minister - Ronan Vallerius (LBA) •Deputy Prime Minister - Sally Kartulion (LBA) •Home Secretary - Elroy Quinn (LBA) •Foreign Minister - Quanii Laat (LBA) •Defence Minister - Sir Steven Dabu (DRP) •Culture Minister - Shiniji Allaro (LBA) •Industries Minister - Sigmund Borsig (LBA) •Justice Minister - Kasabdra Elpar (LBA) •Environment Minister - Bolo T'Losi (LOA) In other news, FDDS Excalibur, the first Excalibur Class corvette to be constructed, has earlier enterted service with the FDDF, having completed her sea trials recently. As what Defence Minister Sir Steven Dabu, a veteran of the Safraen conflict, has described as "A revolution in Dijeli ship design", she will be immediately replacing a pair of older vessels, with more of her class planned to enter service in the coming months, as one of the latter stages of a larger programme of FDDF modernisation. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Dijelibeybi Stands Still for Filming ![]() Areas of the city were temporerily transformed into a post-apocalyptic landscape today From early this morning, certain areas of the capital, Dijelibeybi, have been transformed into a disaster zone - all in the name of an upcoming film from famed Dijeli producer and director Lillian Sheng. The filming, which took part in several locations throughout the city over the course of the day, was well planned and clinically executed, minimising disruption for the public, although, as a thank-you to the people of Dijelibeybi, Ms Sheng has announced, the finished version will be freely screened in Dijelibeybi upon full release later this year. The majority of the films' outdoor urban scenes were filmed today, it has been announced, whilst other filming has been taking place both at their Ephebe studio and at another location in the Klatchan desert. This film, along with others both currently in the works or already out, has been part of a larger plan to expand and grow the Dijeli cultural industries - such as film, music and the arts - with certain government subsidies avalable to small filmmakers such as these. The natural progression of this, some encorage, is a Dijeli entry into the CETO (Cultural Exchange Treaty Organisation); not a viewpoint yet endorced by the Dijeli government, at least in public, although Foreign Minister Quanii Laat is reputed to have attended the inaugral talks of the group in East Moreland. Alternatively, with a film and culture festival said to be upcoming in the Navoshi city of Eaat, some say that the government's cultural policy has gone too far the other way, absorbing funding which would be better spent elsewhere. In other news, the Dijeli footballers will have one last chance to salvage their reputation at the Tytor world cup, in their upcoming game against the hosts' side in Tsargard. A win will see Dijel go through to the knockout stages for the first time in their history, while a loss or draw will see them crash out at the bottom of their group. Despite suffering a morale-sapping loss against Novincia in their last match, Dijeli performed well in their last meeting with the hosts, winning 1-0 against them earlier in the tourniment. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Crash and Burn Where did it all go wrong? Dijeli players file from the pitch after their final game against Tytor The Dijel have today been eliminated from their first ever appearence at an IFFA world cup, having lost their last game 2-1 to hosts Tytor. Despite edging ahed early on, thanks to a 26th minute strike from veteran striker Phillp Motić, although they were unable to hang on to this advantage, which would've put them through into the next round. Coming after Dijeli successes in the Comfederation Cup and Olympics, this failure to qualify has come as a great shock to many, although, as manager Fredrichsson admitted at his post-match interview, Dijeli football is still developing, and maybe such high hopes were somewhat misplaced. Nonetheless, he added, with the current investment in Dijeli sport at a grassroots level, as well as the growth if the DPL and Dijeli Football League, Dijeli football is on the up, meaning better results could be on the cards in future, although it is doubtful waether the current management staff will still be in place when that time comes. Despite this debacle, rumors continue to circulate over the possibility of an all-Albion football tourniment, following an alleged leak from a government official that such a scheme could be in the works. While the prospect of seeking a chance to better world cup nemisis Tytor has some football fans salivating at the mouth, others are more balanced on the subject, asserting that matches against local opponants, such as Dartfordia and the UNP, could be a way to build experience within the current squad, with game time together being touted as a vital ingredient of future success. In other news, an alleged member of the imfamous Espinenza cartel has today been jailed for at least 25 years for charges including drug possetion, intent to supply banned substances and extortion. Following the sentancing at Ephebe Crown Court earlier today, the issue of how to best deal with the group has again been raised in local political circles, with the opposition Guiding Light councillors demanding tougher measures from the governemt, who remain reseloutely behind their current, measured approach to the group. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Medival History Set to Make Comeback ![]() An image of 12th centuary Dijeli warriors, belived to have been painted somewhat more recently History enthusiasts across the Dijel, and possably wider Mundus, are set to be in for a treat in the near future, as the Culture Ministry has today unveiled plans for a so-called 'Medival Olympics' - an event feturing competition and culture from the period. The moniker, created by press sources at the prospect of recreating competative jousting and the like recreated, has largely stuck, and also reflects that the competition could potentially be expanded to include international competitors, although this has yet to be confirmed by government. The actual event will likely take place in the next few weeks, with the venue set to be at Harrinâl Gol, a historic fortress on the coast in the far east of the Shadowlands. This comes amidst a recent upwell in public interest in the area, which can at least partially be attributed to recent high-profile events involving various monarchs, and has been criticized by some as the Culture Ministry simply jumping on the bandwagon, although the prospect was generally well recived. Furthermore, some rather more toungue-in-cheek comentators have described it as a good way to forget the recent World Cup collapse in Tytor, and quite possably the best that does not come in a bottle. In other news, the FDDF is apparently considering the introduction of dedicated reconnaissance regiments, following complaints by some senior officers that Dijeli forces sufferred from a lack of mobility during the Safraen crisis. The Dijeli armed forces have been without dedicated reconnaissance units since the abolition of the old cavalry regiments as a cost-cutting measure in the early 1990's, with reconnaissance duties having since fallen largely on infantry and aerial units, although the FDDF has retained in storage large numbers of the SCV-91 (Scout Combat Vehichle 1991) which formerly equipped the disbanded regiments. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Dartfordia Blast Hits Dignitaries ![]() The Lenira Hotel, Churchill, Dartfordia, following the blast Earlier today, a blast occurred at the Lenira Hotel, in Dartfordia, where foreign representatives, including our own Ronan Vallerius, were staying ahed of the planned conference on universal rights. So far, rescuers have confirmed that at least six fatalities have occurred, notably including Elpidian Lord Protector Edward Truden, whom is believed to have been the target of the attack, which is alleged to have been carried out by the secretive Elpidian group known as the 'Iron Crown'. While several foreign representatives are believed to have been injured in the attack, the Foreign Office have confirmed that the Prime Minister is allive and well following the incident, despite rumours that he had been killed spreading on social media, largely stemming from the swift arrival of Deputy Prime Minister Sally Kartulion in the capital shortly following the blast. Despite this attack, which a Foreign Office spokesperson has branded as 'cowardly and entirely unwarranted', the conference is se to go ahed in the coming days, with those injured likely to be replaced at the conference table itself. Furthermore, other than promising an investigation into the incident, along side international partners, no official government action has yet been taken over the incident, although a statement released on behalf of the Prime Minister was highly praising of the Dartfordian emergency services who responded to the scene, although rather less so of the hotel's security staff. In a related story, DBC bosses are said to be considering legal action against the Dartfordian Broadcasting Corporation over fraudulent use of the DBC name and branding. There has, however, yet to be an official statement on the matter, other than an advertisement run on DBC Klatch, a local arm of the DBC, proclaiming that they are 'The Real DBC'. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Shatyr Gol Conference Centre Opens ![]() The Shatyr Gol Conference Centre (SGCC) in Wae, Dijelibeybi province, during the grand opening of the building The Shatyr Gol Conference Centre, built and owned by the powerful Dijeli Tussah Corporation, has today opened in Wae, Dijelibeybi province, following the official opening ceremony late last night. The building itself rises one hundered and fifty metres above the city streets in the east of the city, and is reported by local media sources to be the largest tented structure in the whole of Mundus - with a highly unorthadox tensile structure suspended between the central column and a more traditional base clasifying the building as a tent. Aside from an ample conference space, the structure also houses its own shopping centre and office space, while power demands are met by the large network of solar pannels positioned across the large fabric surface of the tent, reducing the requirements placed upon mains power by 65% against structures of a comparable size. The building is one of several flagship projects run by the Tussah Corporation in recent years, alongside the likes of Dijelibeybi's Tussah Towers and Team Tussah racing yacht that took part in this years' global ocean race. Aside from these, the company is heavily involved in the construction, maritime engineering and reaserch and design sectors, along with a smattering of smaller interests worldwide, and a subisiary, Dijelibeybi and Provincial Shipyard, were awarded a section of the government contract for new FDDF warships, issued earlier this year. While this has led some commentators to fear that the corporation has simply grown too large, employing several thousand staff throughout the Dijel, public opinion generally paints the company in a positive light, due at least in part to their emphisis on sustainable investment, which has brought large numbers of technical apprenticeships, and other opportunities, to many of the otherwise more impovrished areas of the country. In other news, Industries Minister Sigmund Borsig has today announced plans to introduce government subsidies to university students studying the so-called 'STEM' subjects - science, technologies, engineering and maths - in an effort to ensure long-term economic growth. Whilst the current heigher education system is already quite heavily regulated by government, who provide student loans and grants to disadvanteged students, this recent move has been generally well recived by indistrialists and students alike, although there have predictably been belated protests from the Guiding Light party, who view the measures as rather too socialist. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Ministry of Defence to Re-Form Reconnaissance Regiments An example of an upgraded SCV-91/14 on display following the announcement Following speculation in recent weeks, the Ministry of Defence has today comfirmed plans to re-form the FDDF's dedicated reconnaissance units - the cavalry regiments. Whilst these regiments were initially disbanded back in the mid 1990's as a cost-cutting measure, FDDF sources indicate that experiences on the ground in Safraen have revealed a need for autonomous light-armoured units on the ground, filling a gap somewhere between the heavy A-09-III battle tank and the much more fragile LCV-10 utility vehichle. The former mainstay of the old cavalry regiments, the SCV-91 reconnaissance vehicle, is also set to make a comeback, having been extensively upgraded for the purpose, resulting in a new machine - the SCV-91/14 - which will be fielded by all five of the newly reformed regiments. Uniquely among the FDDF's regiments, the former cavalry regiments maintained strong traditional links both to the monarchy and historical formations by way of insignia and ceremonial titles - a trend that is set to continue in their new form. Furthermore, it has been stressed, although the majority of the soldiers in these regiments will be new recruits, most of the new regiments' senior personnel will be drafted in from existing FDDF regiments, with an emphisis on personnel with links to the old cavalry regiments. However, it has also been noted, this move has not been intended to in any way intimidate or threaten regional neighbours or international partners, rater to refine the FDDF for future missions based on combat experience on the ground during the Safraen conflict. This, however, was largely inplicit, due to the relitively small numbers of recruits being added to the FDDF - 3,750 men combined across all five regiments - and the generally smaller size of the FDDF overall when compared to their international counterparts. In other news, the Prime Minister Ronan Vallerius is currently attending an international conference on human rights, taking place in Churchill, Dartfordia despite a recent bomb attack in the city targeting the representitives. Foreign minister Quanii Laat is also attending the conference, which a government spokesperson has stated is hoped will establish international standards for human rights, although critics have already suggested that the only signitories are likely to be those who have already been adhering to ethical practices. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Hydrogen the Way Forwards? ![]() A concept drawing for the Häpfer-Koss e-1, affectionately duabbed 'the Lemon' - one of several hydrogen-powerred vehicles said to be in the pipeline According to some government sources, legislation could be brought in to phase out traditional fossil-fuel powerred vehicles as early as 2018, although this has yet to be officially confirmed. The supposed move, which would be a major extention of current green-energy programme, would allegedly see a major increase in government investment in hydrogen fuel technologies over the next few years, since hydrogen is generally the favoured next generation fuel in the Dijel, owing to the generally inhospitable conditions making biofuels less viable, although solar-powered electric designed have also been considerred. Whilst the Dijeli national grid is almost free of fossil-fuel power stations, with a mixture of solar farms, tidal barrages and nuclear power stations now providing the bulk of Dijeli energy needs, the majority of motor vehicles are still reliant on fossil fuels, leaving only a minority of largely unsatisfactory electric and hybrid cars that are not. Projects like the HK e-1, however, have aimed at producing a viable zero-emissions vehicle powered by hydrogen fuel cell technology with some success - the model is due to go on sale late next year. In other news, DBC chiefs have hinted at an upcoming flagship drama, due to air later in the year. This has provoked mild interest and speculation in social media circles, especially since the DBC currently lacks any major entertainment franchises in its lineup, although, to most, this has been a fairly low-key affair, especially since the opening date is so far in the future. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Heading For War? ![]() A pair of Alliance-Class frigates - FDDS Ace and FDDS Ajax - manoeuvre off Dauntel, following an increacing international standoff around the Sea of Kyne With tensions between the CSTO and WARSAW once again reaching boiling point, and again over Themata, Mundus once again stands on the brink of war. With some forces already on allert following a request from the CIS over a crisis with Veashak, the FDDF have been called to high alert, the Ministry of Defence have confirmed, with the island province of Dauntel looking to be at the centre of a gathering storm on the Sea of Kyne. Dijeli naval forces have apparently stepped up patrols of terratorial waters around the island, particularly vital due to the presance of the Hel Point naval base in the west of the province, and are reported to have been tracking a large WARSAW naval force for several days heading south and passing within relitively close proximity to the western shores of Dauntel. This recent bout of standoffs has apparently been sparked by the collapse of the Thematan revolutionary government, formed in the wake of the First Thematan War, and a subsequent alleged infiltration of the country by WARSAW insurgents. Although the Dijel is aligned with neither the CSTO nor the WARSAW pact, with the CIS in fact having taken steps to foster peacefull relations with both factions, the government is said to be monitoring the situation carefully. Despite this lack of immidiate danger, Dijeli forces had already been readied for action against Veashak, whom were earlier placed under Level 3 status by the members of the CIS' general council following an attack by Veashaki militants against a CETO civillian project site manned by archeologists from East Moreland amd Acharaen, among other CETO scholars. In other news, the Dijel has today been officially admitted into the Cultural Exchange Treaty Organisation (CETO), although the official reprisentative university has yet to be announced. The prestigious University of Wae is highly tipped, although Eaat Technical University is still an outside chance, alongside the Sto Laat University. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Expaditionary Force to Deploy to Seaforth ![]() An RCV-91/14 armoured car is loaded onto a transport, before heading off to Seaforth A Dijeli expaditionary force will be deployed to Seaforth, amid heightening tensions in the region, the Ministry of Defence has announced. Nine-thousand men and women, drawn from twelve different regiments, will make up the force, which will be taksed with balstering the defences of the CIS' newest member against any widening of the current conflict between WARSAW and the CSTO. This comes as rumors of a buildup of WARSAW troops along Seaforth's eastern boarder, although no hostilities currently exist between any of the CIS member nations and WARSAW, no chances are being taken in such unpredictable times. According to defence sources, satilite imaging has identified a large buildup of what are belived to be Russian troops in the badlands east of Seaforth and Severina, although it is doubtful weather this is actually intended as a move against the CIS, with various sources touting Elpidia, weakened after the so-called 'Iron Crown' plot, as a possible target for these preparations, which would make the disptch of this expaditionary force a precaution in case WARSAW would attempt to force a path through Seaforth in order to get to their target. In other news, hostilities have officially begun between the CSTO and WARSAW, with the two superpower blocs squaring off across the Sea of Kyne following months of posturing and brinksmanship from both sides. While the Dijel, as a CIS member nation, has so far remained neutral in the conflict, the Foreign Office have nonetheless issued travel advisories against traveling to several verified conflict zones, including Themata and Novincia, while security measures around shipping in Dijeli waters in the Sea of Kyne due to increaced militarisation in the region. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION War ![]() Dijeli marines on parade in Compangh, as the declaration of war is announced We are now at war with Veashak. Those dread words were utterred by Prime Minister Ronan Vallerius at an emergancy press conference held early this morning at a guarded government briefing room. This was not totally unexpected, following reports that the Veashaki government had issued a decoaration of war against the CIS as a whole, following weeks of tension between several CIS members and Veashak over terrorist actions undertaken by Veashaki terrorist elements against Moreland and Achkaerin civilian archeologists working as part of the Cultural Exchange Treaty Organisation. With the FDDF already on high alert following conflict between WARSAW and the CSTO in the Sea of Kyne and around Dauntel, although these have so far stayed clear of Dijeli interests in the region, some commentators have pushed for immidiate involvement from the Dijeli forces against Veashak before the enemy can launch an attack on Dijeli soil. Despite this, no operation has been so far announced bu the FDDF or Ministry of Defence, although, with it likely that any operation would be a joint-CIS enterprise, this is not necicarily an indicator of a purely defensive stratagy. Following experiences of war in Ndambia and Safraen, public support for the war is, while not exactly enthusiastic, certainally strong, as is FDDF morale following rapid advanced in equipment and tactics in the aftermath of those conflicts. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Defence Minister Comments on 'Phony War' ![]() Dijeli troops of the 1st Armoured Cavalry Regiment await orders at their forward bases along the Ossario-Veashak boarder The Defence Secretary, Sir Steven Dabu, himself a veteran of the Safraen conflict, has, at a press conference earlier today, branded the current state of conflict with Veashak as a 'Phony War'. The conflict, begun following an attack by what are belived to have been Veashaki forces on a team of Moreland and Achkaerin civilians, has so far rumbled on without either side apparently prepared to launch a major operation to break the stalemate, although CIS warships have maintained a tight blockade of the Matilda Canals since the early days of the war in early August. Almost 10,000 Dijel troops are currently deployed overseas, forming the Dijeli Expaditionary Force, and have recently been redeployed to southern Ossario following the outbreak of hostilities with Veashak, alongside East Moreland's Duke Legion and large numbers of Ossarian regular and reserve troops. Meanwhile, WARSAW and the CSTO continue to square off against each other across the Sea of Kyne, with the CSTO and their allies begining to gain the upper hand in Themata, while WARSAW forces have apparently made gains in their invasion of Novincia. Although the Dijeli government refuses to become directly involved, there have been growing calls from certain sectors for a contribution to be made to the various humanitarian efforts ongoing around most of the major conflict zones, primarily by JET but also by neutral states and other organisations, highlighted earlier this week when a Liberal Alliance MP apparently quit the party, labeling their failure to establish a coherent aid package as 'morally indefencable'. In other news, hydrogen-powered road vehichles have today come a step closer as the governent pass ledgislation setting out safety standards for handling and storing the volitile fuel. This comes as Häpfer-Koss, one of the leading car manufacturers investing in environmentally-friendly vehicles, have announced plans to begin limit-testing their hydrogen-cell engine design destined for their e-1 design. Despite these advances, however, a consortium of petrolium producers continue to oppose the project, with the Dijeli Imperial Petrolium Company (DIPC) recently announcing plans to contest the ledgislation at the High Court, claiming that any plans to put volitile fuel hydrogen in 'unqualified hands' would be 'a national disaster waiting to happen'. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Dauntel Coastguard in Daring WARSAW Rescue ![]() Dauntel lifeboats deployed amidst heavy seas late yesterday, following reports of men in the water Yesterday evening, Dauntel province lifeboat crews were involved in a large-scale operation off the island's southwest coast, following reports of large numbers of men still in the water in the aftermath of a confrontation between Quinnopian and WARSAW warships on Monday. The rescued men, reported to number around 120 of Thomodian origin, have been taken under guard to the Hel Point Naval Base, a Defence Ministry spokesperson confirmed this morning, where they are said to be reciving medical care for numerous injuries, predominantly exposure. Despite a heavy naval build up by both CSTO and WARSAW forces in the Sea of Kyne around Dauntel, this is the first time personnel from either side have actually entered Dijeli territory. The FDDF, who have been monitoring the situation carefully, have been accused by some of taking prisoners in a foreign conflict, although it is largely expected that the rescued seamen will be returned home at some point. These dramatic events have caused some to challenge the government's neutral position in the conflict, with growing calls for the Dijeli government to work with their other CIS counterparts to force some kind of settlement between the warring factions. Public opinion, however, still remains largely in favour of the CSTO, as it has done since the actions of USR forces in Safraen caused a wave of indignation among Dijeli voters. Despite this, the ruling Liberal Alliance under Ronan Vallerius has opted to maintain at least cordial relations with the WARSAW powers, although it is still a point of debate as to what status should be afforded to the rescued Thomdorians, or weather they should be returned home immediately, or at the end of the conflict. In other news, the Foreign Office has confirmed that one passenger on the lost Zarussian flight 39 was a Dijeli national, although they have yet to he publicly named. The aircraft, of an unknown model, apparently disappeared from radar screens somewhere over the eastern portion of the Great Northern Sea, having departed Polau, in the Republic of Safraen, just hours earlier, with over one hundred people missing, presumed dead, following the incident. The Foreign Office did state that they would be offering consular assistance to those effected, although no Dijeli personel would be involved in the investigation efforts. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Dijeli Football League Kicks Off ![]() Dijelibeybi City wideman Kevin Delponte in action against Tsort Athletic this afternoon The Dijeli football league season has today kicked off, with results from the DPL being carried on the DBC World Service for the first time, marking an attempt to increace the profile of Dijeli domestic sport. Last season's winners, Dijelieybi City, got off to a good start with a three-nill win over Sporting Karanack, while the newly promoted trio of Eaas Academical, Sto Heilat Sportsclub and Al Khali Provincial were more of a mixed bag, getting a win, a draw and a loss between them. Results: Al Khali and Provincial 2 - 1 Wae FC Sporting Karanack 0 - 3 Dijeibeybi City Dijelibeybi Klatchan 1 - 0 Sto Heilat Sportsclub Compangh Rovers 2 - 2 Ephebe FC Tsort Athletic 3 - 1 Dijelibeybi FC Illyria FC 0 - 0 Eaat Technical In other news, despite the failure of any Dijeli team to gain entry to the Formula Mundus competition, the Culture Ministry is said to be assisting in the creation of a Mundus Rally Championship, a motorsport competitor of Formula Mundus, through which Dijeli automotive manufacturers would be able to level the playingfield against their foreign competitors. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Winter Olympics? What Winter? ![]() Competitors struggle through the Klatchan desert in daytime temperatures up to 55 degrees celsius Despite success largely eluding the Dijeli winter olympic team competing out in Achkaerin, a sporting event arguably featuring more prominently in the Dijeli sporting calendar has today come to its conclusion. The Great Klatchan Marathon, widely touted as the toughest foot race on Mundus, earlier today concluded in Tsort, five days after the first competitors crossed the starting line 150Km further north in the town of Beqqula. This year's winner, Kaspar J'Eltar - a professional survivalist and explorer hailing from Al Khali, Klatch - completed the distance early this morning, with other competitors reaching the finishing line throughout the day. The marathon, which takes place annually over the same 150Km stretch of parched Klatchan interior, has been a staple of the Dijeli sporting calendar since its inception in 1982, allegedly inspired by a story from the time of the Dijeli revolution three years earlier, and has held the benchmark for extreme events ever since. Competition is open to men and women, running either in groups or individually, and is heavily monitored by support teams, although competition is reliant on one's own survival skills. In other news, the Achkaerin Winter Olympics have continued over the last three days, with Dijeli athletes bringing in the not-insubstantial tally of two gold, two silver and a singe bronze medal. Despite a shortage of suitable training areas at home, the team have managed wonders on a much tighter budget than their summer counterparts, one member of their coaching staff is quoted as saying, despite the relatively low-key reporting on the games in Dijeli media. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION The USR - Under New Management ![]() Boris Brezhnev, the new Chairman of the USR, in one of the few pictures of him avalable to DBC reporters Following the shock news yesterday of the death of Chairman Stalin, the former iron-fisted dictator of the USR and WARSAW headman, news of his replacement has this afternoon emerged - Boris Brezhnev, himslef of advanced age and, according to Soviet news sources, a close ally of the former chairman. With much of the world still reeling - or celebrating, as the case may be - at the death of Stalin, the emergance of this new leader could mark a turning point in Mundus' history, with the potential for the USR to 'come in from the cold', as one observer put it 'or for a totally new and previously unconsiderred threat to emerge from eastern Cotf Arrayne'. That said, however, in the aftermath of the Second Themata War, which left both the CSTO and WARSAW powers seemingly war-weary, the potential for positive reforms to take place in the USR is considerred to be high by most Dijeli political observers, a process which many are keen to have their government attempt to accelerate, given to their largely cordial relations with the USR historically. This comes as Foreign Office sources report the department to be mulling a long-term security solution in the Sea of Kyne, an issue arrising due to the presance of large numbers of warships from all three of the main blocs in a region home to so many comercially vital shipping lanes. In other news, the last FDDF forces have returned home from the conflict with Veashak, known generally as the Matilda Canals Conflict, with, remarkably, no casuelties confirmed on the allied side. Although Ministry of Defence sources admit that there had been plans in place at one stage for a ground invasion of the country, such a step was never required. |

DIJELI BROACASTING CORPORATION Oppsition in Soviet-Meche Criticism ![]() Ihmran Ibn Nassir, leader of the Guiding Light Party in opposition, during a television broadcast earlier today In an impassioned television broadcast earlier today, captured live on DBC News, Ihmran Ibn Nassir, leader of the opposition Guiding Light Party, spoke out against the Soviet invasion of their neighbouring nation of Meche, calling on the Dijeli government to utilise the full machinery of the CIS and their allies to attempt to force the withdrawal of the invading Soviet forces. Despite protests from his party at the deployment of Dijeli troops to Safraen during the crisis in the countey earlier this year, Mr Ibn Nassir insists that he is sticking to his principals, instead citing diplomatic and economic levers that he has called on tje government to utilise to force the USR to back down in such a clearly agressive conflict. This comes as the government have drawn criticizm from certain sectors, even from some back-benchers in the Liberal Alliance, over their responce to the conflict, which has been extremely mooted, to say the least, and over their continuation of notmal relations with a Soviet government that appears to be increacingly agressive in their outlook, both at home and abroad. The Prime Minister, however, has maintained that his position on events so far has been sound, even as East Moreland announced a renewed deployment to the Republic of Safraen recently, citing reasons of national interest for this stance. In other news, the Ministry of Defence have unveiled plans to introduce unmanned aircraft into active service with the FDDF 'in the near future', although an exact timeframe has yet to be confirmed. The MoD is known to have a UAV programme ongoing, however, leading some commentators to seculate that an announcement over this may be forthcoming in the next few days, whilst others have suggested it may be a signal that they are preparing to import a foreign design for service, touting several designs from across Mundus as possible competitors. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Ministry of Defence Unveils UAV Programme ![]() The working UAV prototype in its inaugural public appearance Earlier today, following speculation in recent days, the Ministry of Defence showcased the fruits of their ongoing UAV project to assembled members of the press and public at the Irri-Assaidi airbase in northern Klatch. The prototype, introduced under the working name UCAV-107, took off from the runway before performing several maneuvers for the assembled crowd, after which members of the team held a brief press conference detailing certain aspects of their work. Notably, a vague date for possible introduction was given, with live testing apparently scheduled to start from the end of October this year, with the first production models due to be delivered to their units 'around Christmas time'. Apparently, one observer quipped, the if new Defence Minister has started his Christmas shopping early, then he better be ordering a bloody big tree to put this little lot under. Of the technical spesifications of the aircraft, however, details were, naturally, rather more scarce, with little about the aircraft's flight performance or control systems given away during the showcase, although the weapons bay - and one was clearly visable on the underside of the fusalage, appears to be consistant in size with current-generation FDDF equipment, including the BAT (Ballistic All-Terrain) missile family which equip most models of aircraft currently in service. Of further interest, however, was the revelation of a second design on a similar format, under the project title TUAV-17, apparently in development for tactical use by ground and naval forces. Few details on this were avalable, however, with a passing reference within the team's slideshow presentation prompting speculation by some over what this could mean. In a related development, a provisional deal is said to have been struck that will see the FDDF acquire a pair of the currently in-development Moreland drone carriers, apparently in an effort to supplement the two full-sized aircraft carriers currently in service, for an unknown fee. Although this is yet to be officially confirmed, the deal is widely expected to be announced in the coming days, with the prospect of the first non-native warships to enter FDDF service being seen as some as an increasingly international outlook from the Ministry. DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION 3D Printing… Concrete? ![]() Staff and student reserchers at Eaat University pose with a printed concrete section Research students at Eaat University, a prominent educational institution in southern Dijelibeybi province, have unveiled today a groundbreaking device capable of producing 3D printed sections of concrete for use in structures. This development, they claim, could allow the creation of printed concrete structural components on-site in the future, propelling the Dijeli construction industry well and truly into the modern world, possibly assisting in the proliferation of more economical prefabricated, or partially prefabricated, structures. Furthermore, the research team claim, their printer is capable of impregnating concrete sections with more modern reinforcements, including polymer fibres and steel wire, while also allowing cable and pipe ducts to be incorporated into the structure of a building, saving space inside future structures. In the short term, however, this system is very much still in the prototype stage, with only two such printers currently operated by the University, although the team are said to be confident that they will be able to have a commercial model available within two years. This could serve to be a significant boost to the Dijeli construction industry, especially in more isolated parts of Klatch and the Sto Plains, to which it is more difficult to deliver sufficient materials for more conventional structures, as well as the possibility of creating more space-efficient structures for cramped urban centres. In other news, the government are said to be considering commissioning a new generation of nuclear power stations, in order to cover a projected shortfall in energy generation after the last conventional fossil-fuel stations are shut down by 2017, but before the currently under-development generation of 'green' energy supplies come fully on line. This, however, remains a controversial proposition, with the public largely supporting the new environmentally-friendly energy schemes. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Drone Carriers to Enter Service A Royal East Moreland Navy Cyborg-Class drone carrier - the same type as those ordered by the FDDF The FDDF is to procure a pair of the East Morland-built Cyborg-Class drone carriers, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed, which will operate the shortly to be operational Dijeli UCAV-107 'Dragon' stealth drone. The new vessels have already been named, the Ministry confirmed, with both FDDS Badger and FDDS Burnside will join the FDDF fleet under the collective designation of the 'Badger-class Drone Carrier', with the first vessel expected to be under Dijeli colours 'within weeks'. Furthermore, it was noted, both vessels will be retrofitted briefly with Dijeli-spec radios and other electronic equipment, including modifcations to the hangar bays to better accomidate the Dijeli aircraft they will be opperating, although this is supposed to limit their first avalability date 'by a few days, no more'. Whilst some commentators have accused the government of continuing an armament programme that had been advitised as being wound down, others have encoraged this as a positive development in securing Dijeli territory now and in the future, especially folowing recent troubles in Safraen and other areas of Cotf Arrayne. The drones that will be operated from these new carriers, meanwhile, have attracted rather less contoroversy, although largely due to their markedly lowwer profile, other than their unveiling on DBC news in September. In other news, the CIS attempt to liberate Soviet-occupied Safraen has hit the headlines recently, despite a pledge from Prime Minister Ronan Vallerius that Dijeli troops would not become directly involved in the fighting this time around. This time, however, the headline focused rather more on the actions of forces supposedly allied to the liberating forces; Verovan troops fighting in the northeast of the country are alleged to have commited war crimes by executing surrendering Soviet soldiers. These allegations are said to be under investigation - more on this as it comes out. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Verover Suspended Amid Safraen War Row ![]() Republic of Safraen Army troops operating inside Soviet East Safraen - here pictured south of Elmarch Town Verover has officially been suspended from the Confederation of Independent States, the organisation confirmed in a press release yesterday. This comes following accusations of war crimes levied against Verovan troops taking part in the CIS-backed liberation of Soviet-occupied East Safraen, alongside units from Seaforth, East Moreland, Achkaerin, Ossario and the Republic of Safraen. Whilst the FDDF have been notably absent from this conflict, it was noted that the Dijeli ambassador to the CIS - veteran diplomat Sir Roland Sto Heilat - did support the motion to suspend Verover from the organisation, albeit temporarily, despite ties between the two countries dating back to the initial formation of the Confederation earlier in the year. In this vein, public perception of the Verovan government had worsened considerably in the Dijel since the election of a self-proclaimed 'fascist' government there in September, although only with these recent revelations of war crimes have some in the opposition begun to question the Dijeli government's close relationship with their southerly neighbour. While Verover, along with the Dijel and Ndambia, was a founding member state of the CIS - in fact hosting their original headquarters before they were moved to their present home in Leonase, Achkaerin - these recent events serve to highlight the changes in the organisation since its inception, and its uniqueness amidst an international scene dominated by bloc politics and unilateral action; some commentators have purported that the CIS is the only major organisation that can truly regulate itself. In other news, the Dijeli teams competing in the inaugural Champions League, an international competition in which the winners and runners up of the DPL, plus the winners of the DFA Cup, are competing, got off too a mixed start at the weekend. Title holders Dijelibeybi FC came unstuck at home to Achkaerin-based Valtheim FC, whilst underdogs Tsort Athletic scraped a hard-earned point in Quinnopolis thanks to Christopher Keitel's 71st minute equaliser. Sporting Karanak were also in action, recording a modest 1-0 win at home against Togari side East Togatopia thanks to a second-half goal from youngster Jason Freundlich. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Work Starts on High-Speed Rail Network A concept provided by Kilküze Heavy Industry (KHI) of one of the engines to be utilised on the new network The government is set to invest millions in a new national high-speed rail network, which will operate in concert with existing rail lines for the time being, to connect the major Dijeli cities both with the capital and with the Trans-Albion Rail Network terminus in Sto Laat. Branches will be run from each of the mainland provincial capitals both to Dijelibeybi and to the aforementioned Sto Laat terminal, providing 'comparatively inexpensive and unequivocally quick' transport links between the most densely populated areas of the country. Whilst a project of this scale alone has struck many as groundbreaking enough, a contract with heavy engineering specialists Kilküze Heavy Engineering (KHI) has apparently been agreed that will see current hydrogen-cell technology utilised for the first time in a rail locomotive, with the first reportedly planned for operation as soon as March 2015, in what has been touted variously as the government's attempt to secure the country's status as a technological world leader and a colossal waste of time and resources. Meanwhile, however, this move has served to reignite the debate over the nation's rail network, which is entirely state-owned, with the sole exception of the section of the Trans-Albion Rail Network in the Sto Plains region, which is jointly operated by the attendees of the Congress of Albion, held earlier in the year. On the subject of national rail, however, many have criticised the government of being 'stuck in the past' on the matter, with some among the business community drawing rather unfavourable comparisons between the existing Dijeli rail network and those currently in operation abroad, in Achkaerin or East Moreland, for example. Trade Unions, however, have preemptively fought off any calls thus far for any degree of privatisation of the rail network, justifying their actions as being 'very much in the best interests of their members'. In other news, the first UCAV-107 'Dragon' drone aircraft have apparently been delivered to FDDF units this week, although both Badger-Class Drone Carriers have been confirmed as undergoing refit until early next week at the earliest by Defence Ministry sources. In a parallel development, sources within Saewoo Aviation, the company primarily responsible for the development of the 'Dragon' are reported to have indicated that a deal has been struck that could see several hundred of the aircraft exported overseas. The Ministry of Defence has yet to comment on such reports, however. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION We Are One Nation: Safraen Reunited ![]() Safraenese activists dismantle a Soviet barricade in Elmrich Town, former East Safraen "We are one nation" Was the message from former Interim President of the Republic of Safraen, Lady Marie Dupois, speaking to a DBC news team covering the conflict in the east of the country. This comes several weeks after units from the Republic of Safraen Army, backed by forces from several CIS nations, launched an offensive into Soviet Safraen, a state established by the USR following their ocupation of the region during the First Safraen Crisis earlier in the year. The reason behind this liberation was said to be the rumoured return of the dreaded Kaiju virus, an outbreak of which catalyed the first crisis, although this has yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed that a number of FDDF soldiers were involved in the operation, althouh have emphisised that this has not breeched FDDF protocol due to their sole employment in supporting the Republic of Safraen Army, rather than invading East Safraen in their own right. The soldiers, confirmed by an MoD spokesperson to be from the 78th Infantry Regient, known as the Royal Sto Boaders, were reported to number 'around ten'. One soldier from the group, yet to be publically named, was confirmed to have been killed in action during the conflict. Next of kin have been informed, although the circumstances surrounding the death are supposedly under investigation at this time. In other news, proposed plans to contruct a new nuclear power plant near to the village of Elmar in the Shadowlands have been contested by local people following concerns about the safety of the site. The power plant, designed to provide additional power to the Escart area as part of the 'intermediate phase' of the government's energy plan, was origionally supposed to enter into operation by early 2016, though, according to local council members, this challenge coul set the scheme back by several months. The government in Dijelibeybi is keen to push nuclear power as a kind of stop-gap, to tide the country over in the period between the decommision of fossil fuel power plants, currently slated for 2017, and the full readyness of the green-energy so-called 'final phase' power generaltion facilities, some of which, such as the Hetzmaal solar array near Dijelibeybi, are already an inportant part of the Dijeli National Grid. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Future of Wae's Historic Souk Questioned ![]() Part of the Wae Souk on Korfa Lane, in the city centre The future of Wae's historic Souk, dating in parts back to the ninth century, has today been called into question by the city planners, in a report on the predicted development of the city's economy over the next three decades. The planning office criticizes the Souk, which is located on an area of prime real estate in the city centre, as being 'antiquated, with no real future in a modern city' and even 'a potential cause for health and safety concern, especially as time goes on'. This, however, is largely considered to fly in the face of public opinion, not least because the Souk and other historic areas of the city have such a large draw for tourists, who in turn drive an industry that employs a considerable number of people in the Wae area. Historic Souk districts, similar to the one in Wae, feature in many Dijeli towns and cities, including a particularly large one in Dijelibeybi's Old City, and have seen something of a renaissance in recent years, with many locals, as well as tourists, opting to shop there rather than at larger retail chains and the like. This serves as a stark contrast to the Souks in the late 80's and early 90's, when large numbers of stalls were uniccupied, and several of the Souk areas developed rather unsavoury reputations as criminal elements moved in. However, thanks to a drive from the Culture Ministry during the late 90's and into the early 00's, most Souks aroumd the country have been returned to their former glory. In other news, plans to introduce a tram network for Dijelibeybi have today been revealed, with the intension of reducing congestion in the city centre during certain hours. The plans, while only preliminary at this stage, have been well recived by some commentators already, largely due to the much-maligned public transport network currently operating in the capital. Busses, in particular, have taken significant flack recently, being labeled as 'too big, too polluting' by some, despite attempts by some companies to convert their busses to run on LPG. The proposed trams, however, are to be electrically driven from overhead lines, making them the much more environmentally-friendly option. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION 'Firelight' To Represent The Dijel At Mundovision Song Contest ![]() The band celebrate their selection on stage in Dijelibeybi last night A little-known band called 'Firelight' have been selected to represent the Dijel at the upcoming Mundovision song contest, which will be held in this inaugural year in Dartfordia, the Culture Ministry have announced. The group, hailing from Ephebe in Akim-Navosh, will be performing their track 'Coming Home' in the competition, which the group's singer-songwriter, Guy Gabli, described as 'A real good feeling song… something I feel that anyone who travels much will probably be able to relate to'. While the group are almost unheard of in mainstream Dijeli music, they have been tipped for success by several local Navoshi radio stations in recent years, even featuring as a warm-up act on the up-and-coming stage of this years' Al Khali music festival. Since their selection to represent the nation, the band have announced that their first album, which is self-titled, will be released in early December. The Mundovision Song Contest has been rather well-received in Dijeli music circles, with several industry commentators praising the Ministry's selection of a lesser-known indie group, although the decision did prove controversial for some. The fact that the competition is being held in neighbouring Dartfordia has also been a prominent topic, with the ease of travel for Dijeli music lovers largely being overshadowed by the issue of confusion between the DBC logo and that of the hosts' 'Dartfordian Broadcasting Company', which is confusingly, also known as the 'DBC'. While nationalist groups have been up in arms once again over the issue, calling for DBC bosses to bring a law suit against the 'other DBC', government officials have offered a much more conciliatory line, with one MP urging people to 'get over it and enjoy the music'. In other news, the Dijeli contingent involved in the Liberation of Safraen have returned home safely, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed, with the aircraft carrying the nine soldiers touching down at Nos Tala Airbase, forty kilometres north of Dijelibeybi, in the early hours of this morning. The body of the one Dijeli casualty of the war, 28 year-old Corporal Theodore Willikins, was flown in to Dijeliebybi yesterday, where the young soldier will be buried at the nearby Westerhill military cemetery. In a brief press conference, Defence Minister Sir Steven Dabu praised the bravery of all the allied soldiers involved in the operation, lamenting the fallen on all sides, but pledging that their deaths were not in vein: 'Though we will all morn the loss of one of our best and boldest' Sir Steven has been quoted as saying 'I can tell you this now - the lives that have been touched by his sacrifice, and those of the fallen from all the CIS countries involved, are innumerable'. |

Despite a poor performance at the last world cup in Tytor, the Dijel have been ceded fourth in the world, which, Dijeli fans hope, will grant their team an easier run through the group stages. This time around, however, manager Kevin Fredichsson has plumped for more of a blend between youth and experince this time around, with several veterans from his previous campaign reappearing alongside young guns who have begun to make themselves known in the DPL this season. The squad is as follows: Goalkeepers: GK: L. Allegro - #1 GK: J. Rüdi - #13 GK: W. Ries - #23 Defenders: LB: S. Borenov - #2 LB: M. Ohlsom - #12 CB: B. Ossenhousen - #3 CB: L. Simmonds - #4 CB: F. DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Reach For the Stars, Says Billionare Businessman ![]() A virtual rendition of Tussah Interstellar's Mk.1 Spacecraft in low Mundus orbit. The spacecraft has yet to reach such altitudes in testing, however Dijeli billionare buisnessman Desmond Tussah has today launched an appeal to the government to begin investment in space industries, while promoting his own Tussah Interstellar venture, a branch of his TussahCorp conglomorate. The Tussah Intersteller buisness model is one of space tourism, with the stated end goal of running commercial trips beyond Mundus' atmosphere, although they admit that this is still 'some years off'. At current, the company have been openly testing their Mk. 1 Spacecraft from their privately-owned facility in northeastern Klatch, with reports of the rocket-powerred craft entering the upper atmosphere on several occasions, belived to be currently the only non-governmental group on Mundus with such a capability. The Dijeli government, meanwhile, has been markedly less enthusiastic on the subject of space travel, with the majority of existing infrastructure, such as that in use by Tussah Interstellar, dating from the early 1970's and the ill-conceived space programme of communist dictator Qui al-Manir. While foreign powers, including Quinnopia, the USR and the UNP, have initiated space programmes of their own, Dijeli Prime Minister Ronan Vallerius has publically shown no interest in the idea, with hints of such projects not appearing in the manifesto this year of his Liberal Alliance, as it also did not in any of the other major political parties' platform. Despite this apparent apathy among the national leadership, however, some flickers of interest have been seen in recent years, such as a preliminary drawing for a spaceport to be constructed near to Dijelibeybi which surfaced last year. In other news, events in Toshigawa have led to the Foreign Ministry issuing travel advice to Dijeli citizens to avoid visiting the northern Alba Karayna nation, citing fears over political instability. With this, Toshigawa joins a short list of states, incluting the likes of Jonithania, the USR and Meche, to which Dijeli nationals are encouraged not to travel. While of little concern to most, it has been viewed by some as a signal that the government do not wish to be drawn into what they perceive to be a growing threat of violence in the country, coming days after the Toshigawan leader died unexpectedly, apparently the victim of political assasination. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION The Dijel Gears Up for Remembrance Sunday ![]() A memorial to Dijeli war dead in Karanack, bearing names of the fallen from several recent conflicts The Dijel is gearing up to Remembrance Sunday tomorrow, with large crowds expected to turn out for public services due to be held in towns and cities nationwide. This year is set to be particularly poignant, with Dijeli troops having twice been deployed to conflict zones in Safraen, with several new names being added to the Dijelibeybi memorial wall in the process. While the fallen are remembered, it is the survivors of the Dijel's recent wars whom have been at the centre of this years' remembrance appeal, with the profile of ex-servicemen's charities having been raised significantly following the two most recent conflicts, especially with the release this summer of the documentary 'Our War', aired of DBC 1 this summer, which covered the Dijeli involvement in the First Safraen Crisis from the points of view of those fighting on the front lines. Meanwhile, however, attention has recently turned to conflicts bubbling up abroad, with the war in Meche still rumbling on after the Soviet invasion of the country earlier this year, despite a multinational effort to drive out the invaders. Otherwise making headlines recently has been the regime change in Toshigawa, with a new right-wing 'emperor' declaring his affiliation with the WARSAW power bloc, along with former CIS-applicant Transvaal, in a move strongly opposed by Rokkenjima and her allies. While the Federation has shown no intentions thus far of becoming embroiled in either of these conflicts, there have been fears that outstanding treaty commitments may cause Dijeli forces to be drawn into a future conflict in Toshigawa, owing to the proximity of the country to East Moreland, with which the Dijeli government has become closely associated. In other news, the Dijel drew two-all with East Moreland in their group B world cup game in Achkaerin, while Borland won a surprise victory against Meche in the other game of the group. With their next game against Meche, the Dijeli team will be looking to make amends for twice letting the lead slip this time around. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Delponte 'Man of the Moment' at World Cup ![]() Kevin Delponte thrashes home his second against Meche, his third of the tourniment The Dijel have triumphed in a tense Group B match against Meche in Achkaerin, with roving winger Kevin Delponte on target twice, either side of half time, despite a quick goal from Meche on the counter within the first ten minutes. While Meche remain firmly at the bottom of Group B, Dijeli manager Martain Fredrichsson reported to be happy with his side's performance, praising his players' resiliance after going behind so early on. After a close-fought draw against East Moreland in their first game, this result stands the team in good stead for their final group game against suprise packages Borland, who have so far won resoundingly against both East Moreland and Meche, despite some contriversal flare-ups during their tie with the former, unsurprising considering the international status of the 'Borland' group. Elsewhere in the competition, hosts Achkaerin and defending champions Quinnopia seem set to cruise to easy victories over their respective groups, while Group C looks to be heading for a tight run-in between Tytor and Seaforth, although the UNP are not yet out of contention either. With the winners of Group C set to play the runners-up from Group B, and vice versa, in the Quarter Final stages, most Dijeli fans are cautiously optomistic about their side's chances, needing only a point against Borland to see them through to the next stage. Some apprehension may be expected, however, as the possability of a remach against Tytor - the side that dashed Dijeli hopes at the last World Cup - looms large in the consciousness, although team captain and midfielder Christopher Dorlan, when pushed on the matter at interview, said that the team would 'take each game as it comes, confident that we are at least capable of contending with the best out there'. In other news, the forthcoming Dijeli-based online game 'Mundus of Tanks' has hit open Beta testing earlier today, ahed of the game's full release in December. While the free-to-play format has proved controversial in the past, the government has recently been attempting to encorage growth the Dijeli creative industries, with many commentators tipping this home-grown project to have successes in a global market. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Albion 'Safest in World' - Dabu ![]() Troops fighting in the recent conflict in Safraen, one of several recent worldwide flashpoints Albion is the 'Safest continent in the world', according to Defence Secretary Sir Steven Dabu in a recent press conference. Sir Steven, speaking at a Defence Ministry conference yesterday, cited recent conflicts in other areas of the world, most prominently Cotf Arrayne and Alba Karayna, as evidence of Albion's relative tranquillity. However, he continued to note, this has not come from nothing: the peacefulness of Albion, according to the Defence Secretary, is the product of the vigilance and hard work of the governments of Albion, although he emphisised the need to maintain this vigilance, especially with the recent flare-up in Thomdoria and Dyfedia, just the other side of the Sea of Kyne to the northernmost states of Albion, the Dijel included. This has led some to speculate that the Defence Secretary is planning further changes to the FDDF, prompting criticism from the more libertarian political commentators, some of who have worried that the government could be preparing to take a more forthright stance on the international stage than at this current time, which, they claim, could see more Dijeli lives lost in future conflicts overseas, especially poignant with Rememberance Sunday a little under a week gone. Other commentators, however, have welcomed the prospect of further increaces to the FDDF, citing the diminutive size of the force in comparison with its foreign counterparts, with a little under 200,000 personnel across all three branches, fewer than most of the other world powers, who, there is a feeling among some, the Dijel should be looking to compete with on a more even keel. In other news, work on the Dijelibeybi guided tramway has today begun in the capital, with the electrically-powered mass transit system slated to open early next year to replace several bus routes around the city centre. The system will draw power from a network of overhead cables, which caused quite some contoversy during the planning stage, although the trams were eventually accepted in a public referendum in October. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Mundus Solar Rally Coming Up ![]() Students from Eaat University pose with their winning design from last year The 2015 Mundus Solar Rally was unveiled by the Culture Ministy yesterday, in what has been re-branded from last year's Tsort-Al Khali University Solar Rally. The competition, which will be open to international competitors for the first time this year, challenges teams of university students to design and construct solar-powered vehicles to compete in the eighty-five kilometer road race across the Klatchan desert. Last years winning team, from Eaat University in southern Dijelibeybi province, have already declared their intention to re-enter, as have half a dozen ther Dijeli institutions with records in the competition. Dijeli universities have come under increasing scrutiny in recent years, with their state funding being questioned by the political opposition, who have advocated introducing fees for some courses. While graduate employment has tended tocbe high, and most Dijeli degree programmes tend to be viewed as worthwhile, some more unorthadox examples, such as undergraduate hairdressing or bovine management, have been used by the opposition to ridicule the government's position. In other news, tensions in the Illumic region have been drawing attention from the Dijeli public, with Seaforthian and East Moreland forces becoming embroiled in a conflict that some fear could draw in the Federation due to their outtanding treaty commitments with the aforementioned nations. With memories still fresh from the Veashak Crisis earlier this year, which saw the FDDF drawn into a stand-off with Veashaki forces over their agitation of other CIS nations, many are apprihensive about this ongoing confrontation on the far side of the world. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Submarine Force To Be Axed, Defence Ministry Confirms ![]() Alliance-Class frigates FDDS Ajax and FDDS Aurora underway off of the Dijeli coast; vessels similar to those planned to replace the axed submarines The last six submarines currently remaining in FDDF Fleet service are to be decommissioned by the end of this year, the Defence Ministry has confirmed, with the vessels to be replaced on a one-to-one basis with more modern surface warships. Five of the decomissioned submarines are slated to be broken up for scrap in the new year, while the sixth will be preserved by the FDDF Fleet as a museum ship in Compangh, the former home of the Dijeli submarine force, chronicling the history of the service arm from its early days up to its dissolution. The Defence Ministry has meanwhile also confirmed that no personnel will be laid off amidst these latest changes, with the ships' companies offered the chance to retrain on the surface warships being constructed to replace the decommissioned submarines. The replacement warships will be constructed in Dijeli shipyards, contrary to earlier rumors that more elements of FDDF procurement could be outsourced after the decision to aquire a pair of Moreland drone carriers, with the orders being split between Kilkûze Heavy Industries of Ephebe, Klatchan and Provincial of Tsort and Wölfe Shipyards of Port Illyria. Between them, three new frigates of the Alliance-Class, and the same number of corvettes of the Excalibur-Class, will be constructed, due to be completed and ready for duty in around the new year. Ships of both these classes have entered service with the FDDF Fleet for the first time this year, some vessels seeing action shortly after delivery during the Veashak Crisis. In other news, the Foreign Ministry has announced official recognition of the new Free Principality of Takeda, a successor state to the old Toshigawan Empire in northern Alba Karayna. This ends several months of confrontation between Toshigawa and the CSTO over the former's move to join the WARSAW alliance, bringing the group back into the Illumic region after their previous escapade in the area ended in crisis. While the Dijel was never directly involved, events at some points threatened to boil over, with the Foreign Ministry issuing now-retracted travel advice against visiting the region. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION 'We Will Rebuild' - Fredrichsson ![]() Dijeli players after being knocked out of the Achkaerin World Cup Martin Fredrichsson, incumbent manager of the Dijeli national football team, has vowed to rebuild his side after another poor performance at his second IFFA World Cup, with the Dijel finishing bottom of Group C after a string of bad results in the second half of the group stages. Defensive weaknesses, a lacklustre approach going forwards and a lack of motivation are all accusations that have been levelled against Fredrichsson's side, who managed only one solitary win in their latest escapade - against a Meche side who, by the embattled manager's own admission, 'managed to be even worse than us'. While a handful of individual efforts did manage to capture the public's imagination, including Dijelibeybi FC midfield duo Christopher Dorlan and Kevin Delponte and starlet striker Kevin Sponnar, even they were not immune from the pundits' wrath, with the normally stalwart Dorlan's showing in the second loss against Borland being described as 'a shambles; certainly not from the man we've been seeing for the past few years'. Meanwhile, current Dijelibeybi FC boss Neil Lonnon has fuelled speculation that Friedrichsson may be on the way out, after commenting that he 'would be interested' in the job, if it were offered. While the DFA (Dijeli Football Association) have yet to officially comment on this speculation, they have notably not rushed to the defence of their manager as they did following disappointment at the previous world cup in Tytor. While Lonnon is the current bookmakers favourite to take over the post, a whole host of other names have also been proffered, including current Eaat Academical boss Voss Ebianski, League One side Tzazis AFC gaffer Kanin al-Hfahr and even freelance ex-player Jan Temple. In other news, Defence Minister Sir Steven Dabu has today announced a raft of new defence spending increases, including a modest expansion of FDDF personnel, although not on a level that would put the Federation on a par with the more militarised nations of Mundus, it has been noted. Following the reported success of the experimental Marine Pathfinder Platoon, a unit formed in the aftermath of the First Safraen Crisis, several new so-called 'Pathfinder Companies' are set to be established, along with a pair of new Armoured Cavalry regiments, creating 'thousands' of new job opportunities within the FDDF Land Forces. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Vallerius: 'Retreat Inwards Not An Option' ![]() Prime Minister Ronan Vallerius delivering his New Year's Day Adress to the Federal Assembly yesterday Ronan Vallerius, the Prime Minister, has warned against the policy of so-called 'retreat inwards' advocated by conservative think-tank Harmony, decrying the concept as being 'Overly pessimistic, self-destructive and akin to poking our own eye out'. The concept of 'retreat inwards' was drawn up by the think-tankers last year, and largely entails the withdrawal of the Federation from international affairs and the institution of heavily protectionist tariffs, and has in fact already been endorsed by the minority Royalist Party, a fringe pro-monarchist conservative party with a handful of representatives at the Federal Assembly, with the Guiding Light Party showing some interest in the concept. The Prime Minister, meanwhile, favours a more open approach to international affairs, as indicated by his decision to participate in the formation of the CIS last year, though he has also stated his commitment to avoiding the Federation becoming, as he put it, 'an international policeman'. This comes as the international scene appears to become increasingly precarious, with simultaneous crises across Mundus undermining public confidence in the government's liberal foreign policy and increacingly boosting more conservative parties in the polls, although this is largely superficial with the next national elections so far away. While the Foreign Ministry appear to have been happy to let the situation develop in recent weeks, there is talk that this stance will be cast aside shortly, to be superseded by a more assertive stance to stabilise the situation and win back the political initiative from the opposition. This coincides with the announcement from the Ministry of Defence that the last of the new-model warships has been delivered to the FDDF and will enter service before the middle of next week. Alliance-Class frigates FDDS Abstinent, FDDS Arctic Fox and FDDS Artemis will follow the three Excalibur-Class corvettes also ordered in November of last year - FDDS Euphoria, FDDS Europa and FDDS Exquisite - into service with the FDDF Fleet. In other news, the transformation of the neighbouring Confederation of Allied Sepratists into the United Amcin Emirates, or UAE, under new Emir Jeziel Kasim, has caused quite a stir among the Dijeli media in particular, with the pro-CAS contingent being swift to applaud the changes and congratulate the new Emir. Armament increaces by the new UAE, however, whilst causing a few raised eyebrows in diplomatic circles, have done little to offset the generally positive outlook towards the Emirates in Dijeli opinion polls. |

DIJEL BROADCASTING CORPORATION Cleric Calls for Seaforth Action ![]() Delomon al-Raqui Nussrah, a radical cleric and prominent activist within the Guiding Light party, has a record of igniting controversy with his sermons Controversial cleric Delomon al-Raqui Nussah, best known for his firey sermons and nationalist agenda, has again made headlines in the Dijel following his call for action against the Catholic Church of Seafoth, following recent revelations concerning a centuries-old eugenics programme run by the organisation. Speaking from his shrine in the western Shadowlands town of Arlapol, al-Raqui is reported to have called on the government in Dijelibeybi to 'punish these heretics for their sins - purge their mortal corruption with rightous flames and cast their immortal souls down into the abyss where they belong!' While Mr al-Raqui is a well-known activist for the Guiding Light party, his radical views have often put him on the periphery of the party - with the party leadership rumoured to hold him as a liability, and he has indeed run them into trouble in the past, particularly with his opposition to the open boarder policy within the CIS. While such views undeniably have a certain following, no cleric has held a government post since the days of the Dijeli Kingdom, which was overthrown in the so-called 'Red Revolution' of 1928. The Federal Government has so far declined to comment upon either the situation in Seaforth or al-Raqui's words. In other news, police in Klatch have recently begun a drugs crackdown following the appearance of the so-called 'Oculus Spliff', a play on the name of a popular virtual reality headset, on the streets of Tsort and other major cities. These concoctions are said to contain high concentrations of hallucinogens and other harmful substances, and police reports suggest that they are linked with at least three recent deaths in Tsort alone. The Espenoza drug cartel, an organisation said to have links with foreign groups including the Borland terrorists, is belived by police to be the primary suspect, though they have more recently been in the headlines following an online petition for them to enter a team at the next world cup. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Vallerius Plans Second Albion Congress ![]() The historic Karanack Royal Quarter, where the congress is planned to take place A second Congress of Albion is to take place, Foreign Ministry sources have confirmed, following the conclusion of the first congress in the middle of last year. This second congress will focus upon the creation of a pan-Albion political organisation, based on a model similar to that utilised by the Alba Karinya Organisation. This, according to the Foreign Ministry, is designed to build on the successes of the first Congress, namely the construction of the Albion Continental Railway, and to continue to support peaceful development on the continent. The Federation already maintains some strong diplomatic links with other Albion nations, particularly the UAE, but has also worked in the past with Dartfordia, Tytor and the UNP. Following this revelation, the reaction has been mixed. While the Guiding Light Party have long expressed their opposition to such international integration, what they term as 'surrendering of sovereignty', though most of the mainstream parties have expressed official support for such initiatives following the successes achieved by the CIS. Within hours of the announcement, it has been noted, Rokkenjima declared a similar initiative among the Ardian nations, leading some to speculate that Dijeli prestige abroad may be on the up once more, much to the chagrin of the political right, who have traditionally used accusations of weakness as a political stick with which to beat the governing Liberal Alliance. In other news, the first commercial use of the prototype hybrid generators known as 'Squid', developed by Dijeli company TussahEnergy. The buoy-like generators feature a combination of wind, tidal and solar generators on a single oceanic platform, with these first units being initially tethered off the Navoshi coast, providing power to Ephebe in combination with existing supplies. This pattern of generators are expected to come into widespread use in coastal regions later in the year. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Paras Fly Out to Achkaerin ![]() Soldiers from the 1st Airborne Regiment embark transport aircraft at their Al-Elipya base FDDF airborne soldiers will shortly be flying out to Achkaerin for large-scale cold-weather training operations, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed. The troops, including the 42nd (Air Landing) Engineering Regiment and No. 2 Airborne Pathfinder Company, have been permitted, under an agreement with the Achkaerinese government, to conduct training exercises in much colder climes than would otherwise be possible due to the climactic limitations of their native training areas. This constitutes the largest overseas deployment of Dijeli troops since nearly 10,000 men and women were deployed to Ossario during the Veashak Crisis last autumn, which thankfully was ultimately concluded peacefully. While some commentators have speculated that this could constitute a prelude to a Dijeli and CIS intervention in Seaforth, which has been under the control of an unrecognised church-led junta since the recent death of King Josiah II and lies within the operational range of military aircraft based in Achkaerin, there has yet to be any official comment on the possibility of such an intervention from the Ministry of Defence. While the nature of the FDDF as a national Defence Force restricts its use abroad, analysts have concluded that the mutual defence component of the CIS Treaty could be activated by exiled Seaforthian royal Joshua Rhodes, who is officially recognised as the de Jure sovereign of Seaforth by the Dijeli government. In other news, the upcoming Pan-Albion Congress, arranged by the Foreign Ministry and already having attracted the endorsement of all five of the major continental powers, has been re-located to Eisinken Manor, outside of the city of Al-Khali, Klatch, following security concerns relating to the venue previously announced on the DBC. The Manor lies on the east coast, overlooking Bad Wolf Bay, which separates Dartfordia from the Dijel. Edited by Dijel, 29th January 2015 - 10:37 PM.

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Calls for Triumvirate to Resign As Evidence Mounts - Vallerius Ponders ![]() The Seaforthian Catholic Church have been accused of orchestrating a recent coup, and of crimes against humanity, in recent weeks The Dijeli Federal Assembly has today been presented with a motion that could see an expansion of the Dijeli military presence in the Illumic-Northern Ocean region, following a 'call to arms' from Seaforthian Prince-in-excile Joshua Rhodes. The royal is internationally recognised as the de Jure ruler of Seaforth, a move confirmed by the CIS, despite the continued de Facto rule of the Seaforthian Catholic Church; an organisation against which condemning evidence has come to light in recent weeks. While foreign governments have clamoured against this new Seaforthian junta, Vallerius' administration has been largely muted on the issue, despite an upwelling in public opinion on the side of the exciled Prince Joshua, with significant calls from both the political left and right that more could - and should - be done to topple the Triumvirate. With several analysts predicting that this would likely lead to a military confrontation between the CIS and forces loyal to the Seaforthian Church, however, any such move would be fraught with danger, although defence analysts have predicted that the military ones, at least, should be relitively easy to overcome, especially given experiences gained from working under not dissimilar conditions in Safraen last year. While public opinion could easily shift against the government if they were to get bogged down in a long-term foreign conflict, failure to act decisively could be just as diastrous, especially with the radical Guiding Light Party growing in confidence in their attacks on government policy, having most recently declared that Mr Vallerius should 'either stick to his principals in his dealings abroad, or not be involved at all'. Despite this, a sizeable contingent of Dijeli troops are already in the region, having been based in southern Achkaerin since earlier in the month, and there have been suggestions that their numbers could be further bolstered by personnel from the Dijeli Foreign Legion, a force lacking the political constraints that could make a full-scale deployment of regular FDDF troops difficult. In other news, Dijeli sporting disaster has continued unabated at the IOG, with the team having collected less than a dozen medals between them so far. This following an embarrassing group-stage exit from the World Cup last year, the sporting establishment has increasingly come under fire from both fans and the media recently, though with the Confederation Cup very firmly on the radar, the nation will be hoping its rugby players will be able to salvage the Dijeli sporting reputation. In spite of repeatedly poor showings at an elite level, it must be noted, a government initiative begun early last year has begun to bear fruit, with significant increases in grassroots participation across the board, although weather or not this will translate to success at the top in the future remains to be seen. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Seaforth Action Official ![]() Alliance-Class frigate FDDS Appolo underway off Dauntel yesterday, leading the naval task force Military action against the Church-backed Seaforthian junta has today been confirmed by Defence Minister Sir Steven Dabu, following similar actions already underway by Dijeli allies in the region. While this announcement has not come as a suprise for many people, especially since the departure of a significant portion of the FDDF Fleet from their bases during the week, which had led some to speculate that Dijeli warships were already supporting CIS operations in the region. Meanwhile, as many as a dozen regular FDDF Regiments could be set to shortly bolster the CIS FOB in Transvaal, a nation that once sought to join the alliance, while at least three Air Arm Squadrons are reported to be set for a similar move. A DBC news team has already arrived at the CIS forward base, in anticipation of the coming conflict. The responce to this almost declaration of war - it is not oficially considerred a declaration of war, since the Triumvirate Seaforthian regime is considerred illigitimate - has been mixed, both politically and from the public. A Guiding-Light Party spokesperson commented that the Prime Minister had 'finally strapped his man-pants on', while the Dijeli Labour Party applauded this move, adding that they 'hope this can be resolved as quickly and cleanly as possible'. With the Federation having already become embroiled in a number of low-intensity conflicts under Mr Vallerius' government, there are signs that some groups are begining to become disaffected with his leadership, though the responce has been largely positive, especially following revelations about the activities of the Seaforthian Catholic Church, which have already led to one anti-Church demonstration, when an effigy of the pope was burned in central Tsort two days ago. In other news, the first operational installation of TussahEnergy's new 'Squid' electrical generators is set to begin in the next week off the northern Navoshi coast. These new machines utilise wind, tidal and solar energy tecniques on a single platform, and have been bought by the Akim-Navosh provincial government on a trial basis, although they have stated that these devices have shown promise as a long-term alternative to their current fossil-fuel and nuclear power stations, although the last instances of the former are currently in the process of being wound-down. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Allies Advance on the Ground in Seaforth ![]() A Dijeli RCV-96/14 advances through southern Seaforth, as part of a general allied ground invasion from Transvaal Allied forces have made large advances in Seaforth, the Defence Ministry have announced, as the political focus back home has begun to swing towards how best to deal with the aftermath of the conflict, once hostilities are resolved. Most controversially, a group of Guiding Light Party backbenchers have called for Seaforthian church leader Pope Innocent, among other senior clergymen, to be arrested by Dijeli forces to stand trial for historic crimes alleged to have been committed by church-sanctioned forces during the mevial crusades, although there is some doubt weather sufficient evidence for such a case could be produced, even if Seaforthian clergy were to be detained by Dijeli forces. The Dijeli Labour Party, meanwhile, have pressed for some condition of democratisation to be placed upon returning Seaforthian royal Joshua Rhodes, by way of repayment for the international support for his government-in-excile. The government, meanwhile, have remained coy about their plans for postwar Seaforth, with the official line emphasising that the conflict is still very much in progress, although they proclaim their best intentions to bring the conflict to an end with the minimum possible loss of life. The FDDF, meanwhile, have maintained an air of quiet confidence since their involvement in the conflict was announced, although some have speculated that this may only last as long as no casualty reports come out, despite the recent announcement that the Serious Trauma Centre at Hel Point Naval Station had been put on alert earlier in the week, as well as the presence of Naval Auxiliary hospital ships out in the Illumic Sea off Seaforth. Alongside as many as 11,000 FDDF soldiers who have been deployed to Seaforth, another 4,000 men and women from the Dijeli Foreign Legion, an entity in itself which has faced significant questions about its usefulness, have been deployed alongside their Dijeli counterparts to fight in the conflict. The DFL has faced criticism in the past, and has a tendency to be viewed as a relic, which it is, to an extent - the Legion was formed in the eighteenth century under the Twin Kingdoms, and briefly reorganised following the 1928 revolution as an overseas volunteer arm. Under the Federation, however, the Legion was reinstated, despite question marks hanging over the force, which is currently classified as a light infantry unit under the Defence Ministry, but not organisationally connected to the mainstream FDDF. In other news, the Dijeli mens' football team have gone some way towards redeeming their reputation recently, securing Olympic silver, narrowly loosing in the final 3-1 to an Achkaerin side who have continued to impress. Despite this coup, all eyes in the Dijeli sporting world are firmly fixed upon the Olympic rugby sevens, with both the men and women contesting for gold in the final, against East Moreland and the Slavic Confederation respectively. The former is more highly anticipated, however, being a repeat fixture of the deciding match of the 2014 Confederation Cup, which saw the Dijeli men sweap the trophy from under the noses of an East Moreland side who had been undefeated up to that point. If a repeat performance can be produced, only time will tell. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Government Warning Over Paleshtim Situation ![]() An image of the Paleshtimian landscape that has been circulating widely in the Dijeli press, exact location unknown The Dijieli Foreign Ministry has today issued a warning to the Yacovi government over recent concerns of growing violence against the state of Paleshtim, which has apparently culminated in video footage that appeared online earlier today purporting to show Yacovi military aircraft circling over bomb-damaged buildings in the border region. This has so far begun to stir things up on Dijeli social media, with an online appeal from the Guiding Light party for the Dijeli government to offer greater protection to the people of Paleshtim gaining several thousand 'likes' in the space of a few hours. While evidence has emerged implicating both sides in the recent escalation, the mainstream public reaction in the Dijel has been one of sympathy for the Paleshtimians more so than the Yacovi, who have generally been recived as the aggressors in this situation. Nevertheless, any attempt to curtail the violence peacefully is likely to garner the government more plaudits back home than an aggressive solution, especially given that the conflict in Seafoprth is still rumbling on, with the first confirmed reports of Dijeli fatalities coming in during the week. The ongoing conflict in Seaforth, meanwhile, has enjoyed a period of political respite, among Dijeli circles at least, with some degree of consensus that such action was nececary having been reached between the mainstream political parties. Following their recent record of success and efficiency, during the two Safraen Crises and the Veashak Incident, some commentators have begun to speculate that the government may be begining to increacingly see the FDDF as a 'safe bet' when the issue of foreign intervention comes up. While the Forces themselves have a relitively high level of public support, preliminary surveys conducted by the Federal Office for Statistics (FOS) have indicated that any move towards an 'international policing' role is likely to be met with suspicion from the electorate, and could play into the hands of far-right parties, such as Guiding Light, who have noted with approval the expansion of anti-globalisation parties in various nations across Mundus. In other news, the Dijeli men's Rugby Sevens team narrowly lost out in the Olympic final match against East Moreland, a fixture that has been increasingly billed as one of the more prominent rivalries in international sports, and certainly the greatest of its kind in international rugby. While the final scoreline, 24-21 in the Honey Badgers' favour, is indictive of the intensity of the match, it has certainally ratcheted up the tempo ahed of the upcoming Confederation Cup, which the Dijel will enter as defending champions, with both sides expressing their determination to bring home the trophy this time around. The Rugby Sevens was not a complete loss, however, with the womens' team romping home to an easy victory in their game against the Slavic Confederation to take the gold in style. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Backlash Against Rise of 'Mega Corporations' ![]() Protest march in Wae against the operation of so-called 'Mega Corporations' in the Federation The rapid international growth of so-called 'mega corporations' - huge conglomerates including the likes of Abstergo and Cerberus - has caused a recent stir in domestic politics, with several groups coming out against them. Foremost amongst these voices has been the Guiding Light Party, which regards these corporations as a kind of industrial 'invasive spiecies', and have called for increaced protection for homegrown businesses against these huge foreign competitors. While there is little evidence yet to suggest that any of these corporations has been able to establish much of a foothold in the Dijeli domestic markets, much less threaten the position of any major native companies, the Guiding Light Party has nonetheless apparently identified a certain resonant anxiety among many Dijelis against the impact of big businesses, especially international ones, which have a reputation for poor tax accounting and little regard for public wellbeing. Along with the Guiding Light Party, several lesser factions from the political right, including the Dijeli Defence League and the Royalist Party, have joined the more general anti-conglomerate crescendo, with the Defence League holding a ten-thousand strong rally in the centre of Wae against what they term as the 'Invasive Corporate Menace'. In a rare display of solidarity, elements of the political left joined the general condemnation of the 'mega corporations', with both the Dijeli Labour Party and Reformed Peoples' Party issuing statements in support of imposing various degrees of limitation upon such organisations. Cerberus, in particular, came under fire from the RPP's extreme left as the Justice Bureau issued as scathing statement blasting the organisation as 'a complete rejection of socialist values... In bringing such an organisation into being, Quinnopia has turned its back on the principals both they and the greater communist movement was built upon, all to play superpower politics with their burgois compatriots'. While the government, which wields an absolute majority in the Federal Assembly without the concent of such opposition groups, has so far maintained a policy of indifferance on the subject of such overseas conglomorates - which are taxed as foreign entities regardless of their regional opperations within the Federation or the CIS' free trade area - although they have effectively submitted to a de facto buycott of their major services in the areas of defence and security through their commitment to offering contracts exclusively to native industries. In other news, Ministry of Defence sources have confirmed multiple Dijeli casualties following a major battle in the Seaforth conflict around the city of St Catherine's, in the south of the country. Seventeen Dijeli service personnel are confirmed to have been killed in action during the operation to secure the town, with over one-hundred and twenty serious injuries confirmed. These losses, together with casualties sustained by FDDF units fighting further north, in Arc Royal, bring the total number of Dijeli fatalities in the war up to twenty-nine - the highest of any overseas Dijeli operation to date. In spite of these, the public has continued to rally around their forces personnel, with donations to ex-servicemen's charities up by nearly fifty percent in the first two months of the year, compared to the same period last year. In comparison to other nations involved in the conflict, it has been noted, these losses have been graciously light, leading Sir Steven Dabu, the Defence Minister, to praise the work of Dijeli MERT (Medical Emergency Response Teams) and field hospital teams operating in Seaforth during his most recent press release on the conflict. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION FDDF to Get Seaforth Boost ![]() An SA10 assault rifle fitted with a prototype SUSAI (Sight Unit Small Arms Integrated) at a technical demonstration earlier in the week The FDDF forces fighting in Seaforth are set to get an equipment boost in coming days, it has been announced, through a process known in military as Operational Demand Procurement, which has seen extra funding pumped into technologies currently in the final stages of development in an effort to make them ready for limited deployment with FDDF units currently fighting on the ground in Seaforth. Among these 'new technologies' set for trial deployments are the so-called LARS (Light Armour Reinforcement System) and MIBIN (Modern Intergrated Battlefield Information Network) systems, both of which were confirmed to have been put in development by the Ministry of Defence following the First Safraen Crisis: LARS, as the name suggests, encompasses a package of light reinforcement systems for Dijeli armoured vehicles, including the FDDF's first operational hardkill active protection system, while MIBIN represents a larger programme of modern electronic warfare and support systems, such as the SUSAI pictured, some of which have already begun to enter service in the guise of the UCAV-17 'Dragonfly' - a small, lightweight cousin of the much larger UCAV-107 'Dragon' which recently entered service with the FDDF Air Arm. While these pieces of equipment have been procured at some considerable cost, it has been stressed by official sources that these have been met in full by the Ministry of Defence, and that the money had been earmarked for some time for use in such an R&D project. While such defence investment has proved controversial in the past - there is some degree of sympathy with South Hillsian defence analyst Blake Imahara's conclusion that 'armed deterance' is ineffective - the fact that this programme has been tied to an ongoing operation will likely be used to justify the expence domestically. Furthermore, with the outlay on these projects speculated to be considerably less than international contemporaries - the phrase 'budgitary efficiancy' has been bandied about in comparing LARS to projects such as Rokkenjima's T-1 and East Moreland's Stealth Tank - the government can justifiably claim to have successfully balanced spending against capability considerations. On the other hand, however, such defence increases are always like to be a risky gambit in the world of public opinion, being likely to polarise the electorate between those who support active foreign and defence engagement and those who vehemently oppose such activities. Internationally, these revelations are not expected to cause much of a stir, given the generally good standing of the Federation under the level hand of current Prime Minister Ronan Vallerius, and an international climate that encourages such developments. In other news, preparations for the first anneversary of the Confederation of Independant States, of which the Dijel was a founding member, are said to be underway, including events around the organisation's headquarters in Achkaerin as well as each of the national capitals of the member states, including Dijelibeybi. While the exact details have so far been kept firmly under wraps, Interior Ministry sources have confirmed that an undisclosed civic event is to be held in the capital, and that Federation Square will be closed to road traffic at the start of March, around the time of the first anneversary celebrations. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Foreign Affairs Poll: Results In ![]() Where you going? The results of this poll are expected to reflect chosen holiday and travel destinations The results of a landmark foreign affairs opinion survey have today been released, the first of its kind to be conducted in the Federation. Modeled on a similar scheme operated in Rokkenjima, among others, the survey has been conducted systematically over the last month across all six provinces by a team from the Foreign Ministry, assisted by students from East University's International Relations department. While much of the report will offer little in the way of surprises for those familiar with the subject area, particularly those who follow the DBC's World Service, although the foreign Ministry have emphasised that they will take the results of this poll seriously when considering their dealings abroad. An extract of the report's summery sheet has been included below: [/big]
In other news, the government has announced plans to decommission the last of the country's coal-fired power stations by the end of the year, as part of a programme aimed at eliminating all fossil fuel reliance from the grid, with the exception of backup generators for vital installations, such as hospitals. The two remaining coal-fired stations, one in the Shadowlands and the other in Akim-Navosh, are set to be decommissioned in August this year, following the completion of a hydroelectric dam to replace the first, while the second will be replaced by a transitional nuclear reactor located nearby. Thereafter, less than a dozen of the relatively modern gas- and oil-fired power stations will remain in service, at least until 2017, when the last of these is slated for decommission. DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Confederation of Independent States First Anniversary Celebrated ![]() Fireworks over Dijelibeybi last night, during the CIS' First Anniversary celebrations The Confederation of Independent States, an international organisation first conceved back in 2014 as an alliance between the Dijel and the former Verovan Empire, has celebrated the first anniversary of its creation, with huge public events both in the organisation's current headquarters, in Leonaise, Achkaerin, as well as each of the member states' capitals, including Dijelibeybi. In the first year of its operation, the Confederation has grown from the three founding members - including the Dijel - to a total of six member states, and has seen its role on the world stage evolve from humble origins to become among the political and economic powerhouses of Mundus, rivaled only by the CSTO in terms of size and influence. Despite this success, the organisation has needed to adapt and change with the times, however, being born into the period of cold war between the CSTO and the former WARSAW alliance, during which some took to viewing the CIS as a kind of counterbalance force between the two, while after the fall of the USR the Confederation took a leading role on the world stage. Recent speculation, however, is that the alliance will shortly be shifting back to a more supportive role as the CTO develops, though the official Dijeli government line remains dismissive of the new organisation, which is still in its formative stages. The celebration itself has certainly been well received, with week of public and educational events preceeding a public holiday on the day of the anniversary, as well as several large open-air concerts around the country, including a stunning firework display over the capital. The centre of attention, meanwhile, has been firmly fixed on Leonaise, where an even larger event took place, including a parade including members of the FDDF who fought in the campaigns in Safraen and Seaforth, as well as an exhibition rugby match between the CIS Lions and Dartfordia. An unprecidented gathering of the organisation's leaders, too, is reported to have taken placeduring the days' events, attended by Dijeli dignatories including Ronan Vallerius, the Prime Minister, and Vert Andersson, a former ambassidor to Verover who attended the origional conference at which the concept of the Confederation was first floated. In other news, Royal Klatchan Armouries, the defence sector giant based in Tsort, have today revealed a preview of their latest project - a vehicle programme known ander the acronym HCV-XX. While little has been revealed about the programme other than a few concept images and a vague projected specification, a brief press conference confirmed that a prototype is slated to be ready for the upcoming CIS Defence Expo. The specification includes a unique 55mm rapid-firing high velocity autocannon, in-built systems compatible with the brand new LARS and MIBIN systems and an equivalent level of armoured protection on the frontal arc to an A-09 MBT, paired with a size and mobility more akin to IFVs. It is not yet known weather this new vehicle will be fielded by the FDDF, offered as an export model, or maybe even both. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Vallerius Bordering On 'Irrational' Anti-Rokkenjima Foreign Policy - Think-Tank ![]() The logo of the Liberal Union think-tank, authors of the recent report and renowned pro-intergrationalist lobby group Prime Minister Ronan Vallerius is in danger of leading the Federation down a path of 'irrational' opposition to Rokkenjima and her allies, according to a recent report from the Liberal Union, an influential centre-left think-tank based in Pseudopolis. The report, which warns against bending to mounting pressure from the political right, particularly nationalist and fundementalist elements, cites multiple areas of overlap between current Dijeli and Rokkenjiman policy goals, particularly with regaRDS to environmentally friendly energy, which both nations have invested heavily in. This has echoed sentiments coming the other way in recent weeks, with the Dijeli-Rokkenjiman relationship being described as 'lacking' in a recent RBC article, though a more recent clash of interests over the Abstergo mega-corporation, which is Rokkenjiman owned, but reviled by some sections of Dijeli society, threatened to exasperate this further. The 'nationalist pressures' cited in this report have been further underlined by the response to comments made in a further article, which has been depicted by some as an attempt by an imperial power to force an entrance into outside regional politics. At a more superficial level, some will doubtless be keen to identify with the Federalist Party of Rokkenjima, though no political party has yet taken this step. Moreover from such regional issues, the report warns against Dijeli disengagement from the embryonic Commonwealth Treaty Organisation, which has been touted as the organisation that the Covenant of Nations always should have been among some liberal circles, but blasted as the new facét of Rokkenjiman Imperialism by the fundementalist Guiding Light Party. Despite apparently being overlooked for the conference aimed at drawing up the founding treaty of this new organisation, the Dijeli government has not to date made public intent to shun the organisation indefinately, though neither have they clamoured for entry into the conference, a stance not dissimilar to that of the Kingdom of Tytor, another regional neighbour with an apparently similar agenda, especially having clashed with other members of the CSTO over last year's Mundus Convention on Universal Rights. With the recent first anneversary of the CIS still fresh in the memory, the mood in Dijelibeybi is still very much one of engagement and conciliation, however, leading to speculation that some commitment to this end is very much on the agenda for the near future. In other news, the Guiding Light Party have recently announced plans to reintroduce public modesty laws, not dissimilar to those currently in force in the UAE, in their most recent manifesto. The prospective measures were revealed to be at least partially based on those repealed following the 'Red Revolution' of 1928, which were rejected for reintroduction following a controversial attempt to revive the measures shortly after the consolidation of the Federation in 1979. While less severe than the Amcin modesty laws, the former rejection of these measures was seen, at the time, as a major gain for the liberal and leftist elements during the formation of the Federation, though the popular support base was, and still is, largely confined to the Shadowlands region in the west of the country. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Reformed Peoples' Party In Zachachevania Solidarity ![]() Street art which appeared on the corner of one building close to Federation Square, believed to have been painted by RPP activists In an official party statement, the Reformed Peoples' Party (RPP) has officially condemned the Rosocor reigime of Zachachevania, declaring their solidarity with the oppressed people in that country living under a government 'less socialist than the Forbes rich list'. The RPP, themselves originating as a breakaway faction from the then-ruling Dijeli Peoples' Party in the 1970's, echoed the similar anti-Rosocor message delivered by Communist Quinnopia on the issue, adding a call for international volunteers to assist individuals attempting to escape the brutal dictatorship, both at sea and across the land border into Ndambia. A party spokesperson revealed that, at a recent local party conference in Wae, around a hundred Dijeli volunteers signed up for what has optimistically been termed as an 'International Brigade', with a stated target of developing a presence in Ndambia within a week. While, under Dijeli law, the group will not be able to acquire arm, there has been some speculation that they will attempt to do so abroad, or apply for classification as security contractors, especially given that most, if not all, will have passed a basic military training course as part of their military service. While the Roscor regime has come in for heavy ideological criticism from both the RPP and the more moderate Dijeli Labour Party in the past, this is the first concrete resolution on record. Though the government has made it clear that this particular endeavour is in no way endorsed by or encouraged by any official body or agency, this is considered unlikely to deter the RPP, which maintains a dedicated following and significant financial and other resources of its own, through its connection a with socialist sympathisers and trade unions. While several nations have pledged warships to resume the blockade of the rogue state of Zachachevania, the RPP are believed to be the first NGO to take a serious interest in the country, though most would consider these plucky volunteers to be taking a risk to far in what some apparently see as a crusade against the forces of facism. In other news, Foreign Minister Quanii Laat has hit out against the Guiding Light Party's proclaimed intentions to introduce so-called public modesty laws, blasting them as 'rediculously out of touch with a country looking to the future, not digging up these skeletons'. As arguably the foremost woman in Dijeli politics, Ms Laat has always been an outspoken critic of the Guiding Light Party and their fundementalist politics, while the party, in turn, have offered scathing criticisms of her, especially following her revelation that she considerred Rokkenjiman Empress Beatrice Anselmo 'a feminist icon' at a Q&A session in her Pseudopolis constituancy. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Zachachevania - Hands off Ndambia: Dabu Dijeli RCV-96/14 armoured vehicles on parade in Dijelibeybi to mark the recent 1st Anniversary of the CIS Defence Minister, and former FDDF Brigadier, Sir Steven Dabu has today issued a warning to Zachachevania's Rosocor regime to 'stay out of Ndambia' following reports of a troop build-up on the border between the Ardian states. While several other nations have similarly condemned the rogue state following the apparent massacre of over five-hundred civilians close to the same border, and a few have even moved warships off of the Zachacevanian coast, threatening to resume a naval blockade of the country, though this apparent build-up on a sensitive land border has apparently gone largely unnoticed by the wider international community, at least outside of the CIS. While the Ndambian authorities have played down the possibility of invasion, and not without reason, seeing as Zachachevania have traditionally reserved their hostility for CSTO nations, Sir Steven has pledged to place Dijeli forces on alert for short-notice deployment in support of their Ndambian allies for the duration of the crisis. According to Defence Ministry sources, Zachachevanian forces across the Ndambian border are estimated to number between one and two million in strength, at least five times the sum strength of the FDDF's ground forces, though they are believed to comprise largely of ill-equiped and poorly trained conscript soldiers, downplaying the threat posed by these forces. Furthermore, while in the event of a Zachachevanian invasion of Ndambia the Dijel would be treaty-bound to come to the aid of the Ndambian government - and not for the first time - so too would the rest of the CIS, which includes nations with substantial military forces, namely Achkaerin and East Moreland, though both of these have been more heavily engaged in the recent Seaforth conflict, leading to speculation that, in the event of such a conflict, the FDDF would be obliged to provide the bulk of relief forces to Ndambia. While involvement of Dijeli forces in the recent Seaforth conflict has brought a boost to investment in the armed forces, and the FDDF is now ranked by some as amongst the most efficient fighting forces on Mundus, there are concerns among some that the government has become blasé over the employment of its armed services. In other news, Beatrice Anselmo, the Empress of Rokkenjima, has apparently scheduled a visit to the Federation, having recently begun a similar engagement in the UAE. While the Federal government has had mixed, if fleeting, encounters with their Rokkenjiman counterparts to date, formal relations have never been established. Although the news has generally been well recieved by press and public alike, some on the far right have speculated that the Prime Minister may be loosing his nerve over sovereignty issues, becoming, in the words of a Dijeli Defence League spokesperson, 'the next Dartfordia'. |

DIJELI BROADCASTING CORPORATION Häpfer-Koss Motors Unveil First Commercial Hydrogen Fuelled Car ![]() The HK e-5 Fuel Cell Vehicle, the latest of the company's hydrogen-fuelled models, though the first to go to market The Häpfer-Koss Motor Company, one of the Dijel's leading automotive corporations, among the likes of Tussah Automotive and al-Uddiah Djaddala Industrial (AUDI), have today announced the release of their first commercial hydrogen a fuelled vehicle, the HK e-5 (pictured). This latest model, which is considered to be the spiritual successor to the earlier e-series designs, such as the HK e-1, known affectionately as 'the Lemon', is said to be based on technology refined in these earlier projects, including safe storage methods for the highly combustible hydrogen fuel. While, in recent years, Häpfer-Koss have become widely renowned for their hydrogen-fuel reaserch, and have made considerable investment into the technology, this will be the first time they will be able to recoup some of the cost thereof, with the unit cost of the new machines expected to be initially high. Their competitors, meanwhile, are also reported to have rival zero-carbon projects in development, with Tussah Automotive said to be investing heavily in solar-electric power, while AUDI have followed suit with HK, having launched their own hydrogen-fuel project several years ago. This drive towards zero-carbon vehicles has been heavily endorsed by Environment Minister Bolo T'losi, who is known for her self-proclaimed target of eliminating all fossil-fuel power stations on the national grid by 2017. More recently, Ms T'losi made local headlines in Akim-Navosh, where she unveiled plans for a government subsidised hydrogen-fuel generation ststion on the Gulf of Akim. The facility, which would produce hydrogen gas from seawater through the process of electrolysis, would be powerred by a network of renewable energy sources, including wind and wave power, and be completely self-sufficient from the national grid. While such initiatives are a core tennant of the Liberal Alliance's platform, with the zero-carbon by 2017 scheme officially adopted onto the party's manifesto just before the last election, such a huge investment into what would effectively be a private-sector venture has proved somewhat decisive, with some in the party pushing for the creation of a national hydrogen-fuel production company to manage the facility under government control, which would be a parallel to foreign national oil companies. In other news, the creation of a new international organisation has earlier been marked in the inception of the Socialist International, a left-wing bloc including states such as Quinnopia and Vendosia, as well as political groups, including the Dijel's Reformed People's Party, a section of which once heavily criticised the Quinnopian government for their role in creating the multinational conglomorate Cerberus, though, at least for the moment, this spat appears to have been forgotten. While this organisation is a far cry from the former WARSAW alliance, which was socialist in name only, this new body asserts itself as a true bastion of left-wing ideals, an ideology with a sizable following in the Federation, although the trade-union linked Dijeli Labour Party have expressed no intent of joining, maintaining that they are dictated by their membership, rather than foreign bodies. |
