 Connect3D Under Fire After Traffic Control Security Breach Several accidents occurred around major intersections and freeways after a security breach in the Connect3D system caused multiple lane control and traffic lights to short out, causing at least one casualty. No other casualties have been confirmed. Connect3D executive Aiden Privett released a statement, stating that they have developed and deployed a patch to the system. This is the second time this month that a hacker has broken into the Connect3D system this month, the first causing several minor injuries when an unoccupied subway car was moved onto the wrong track, crashing into the wall at the end of Subway Line 2. "We are working overtime on finding and patching security breaches in the Connect3D system. Such a breach is extremely rare, and is almost always fixed right after." said Privett. Connect3D has been extremely controversial since it's implementation, with worries over stolen SSNs, 24/7 government monitoring, and citywide blackout. "Connect3D is a lie! It doesn't reduce crime, in fact, it promotes it! Rogue hackers can break into this system and steal our personal information!" said Blake Caraballo, a citizen of Navin. Connect3D is set to release a major patch later this month. |

 Aeternum Military Intervention in Great Jonathania "Huge Success", says Zachary Deng, Commander of the Air Force  The newest fighter in the RALAF: The C-97 "Gyrofalcon" training over Northwood-Halcyon Airport "It's hard to overstate my satisfaction." said Zachary Deng, Commander of the Republic of Aeternum Liberation Air Force, in a press conference earlier today. "The cooperation between Aeternum and the Central Ossarian Republic was one of a kind, combined with the skill of both air force's pilots." In an unexpected move, Deng allowed for two wings (about 20 planes) of C-24 "Hawk" fighters to intervene in the Jonathanian uprising. They operated with COR F-22 "Raptor" fighters to provide cover for ground forces. The Aeternum Military declined to comment. This is before multiple militaries of different countries are set to participate in naval exercises in the Krimeon Sea. Elections to Start Soon in Aeternum  Words of Advice: Politician and Premier hopeful Scott McCloud speaks to a Democratic group earlier this week The time when we can decide which person can rule our country is almost here. The Premier elections are set to take place in three weeks, when the polls will open for two weeks, and the people decide who is the most deserving of Premier. We have learned that there are three politicians vying for this spot. Alexander Zhou, a Democratic Socialist and our current Premier, who is going for his third year of reelection after bringing social and economic reforms to Aeternum; Scott McCloud, a charismatic Democrat who has served in the People's Congress and was loved by everyone for passing the law that stopped spam email from being legal; Allen Tang, a man with a fairly Communist mindset who thinks that the current form of government still puts too much power with the government and wishes to change the form to a communistic society. Well, it seems that the Goddess of Life was feeling sentimental, as a video of presumed-dead King David III was released today, gaining popularity over all mediums of communication. The first is: Who tried to kill me? To be honest, I don't know. Carcer City C3D Control Center Destroyed In Viceroy Attack  Ruined: The destroyed Control Center In another sign of Viceroy notoriety, the armed gang destroyed the Carcer City C3D control center in the frenzy caused by the nationwide blackout. It was our fault. We didn't secure the system well enough, and Incognito - this group of rogue hackers - were able to breach and cripple it. This initiative will allow Aeternumese cities, and any other cities of other countries that would like to participate, to communicate with each other on a global stage. Alliance Airlines Jet Overshoots Runway at Northwood-Halcyon International Airport, 32 Injured  Overshoot: Alliance 291 after overshooting the runway at NHIA An Alliance Airlines jet overshot the runway today at Northwood-Halcyon International Airport. The jet, Alliance 291, was on a scheduled flight from Salema Int'l Airport. According to Federal Safety Board reports, the jet attempted to land in a heavy rainstorm. It was reportedly cleared by air traffic control as being "safe to land." The jet landed in the designated landing area, but then was unable to stop even after applying reverse thrust. It overshot the runway, crashing through a fence and coming to rest in a field. 32 passengers were injured, 4 of them seriously. There were no casualties. Alliance Airlines has had a history of being one of the safest air carriers, with only 7 reported incidents since its founding. Only one of those incidents has had a fatality. In an unexpected press conference earlier today, Aeternumese premier Alexander Zhou addressed the citizens of Aeternum and of the world regarding Aeternum's stance on WARSAW/CSTO hostilities. 'It is true that we are a member of the NCAA, and we will uphold that alliance. However, we are also held by other agreements and the morality of some of our officers, and it has been decided that Aeternum will not take an active role in these hostilities unless provoked. We will also provide safe haven for any WARSAW or WARSAW-allied ships operating in the Krimeon and Kyne Seas and safe haven for WARSAW aircraft. We will also open up refugee shelters and centers, and prepare humanitarian aide services.' Skeptics have pointed out that Aeternum is close to both Novincia and the continent of Ardia, and could be used as a forward operating base of sorts for WARSAW to launch attacks on both areas. Aeternumese Emergency Shelters Rife With Problems  Marked: Not all emergency shelters, unlike this one in Chaoyang Park, are clearly marked "What?" exclaims a passerby in Eternia's iconic Oriental Outlook. "There's a emergency shelter here? Where?" We didn't know either. After asking around for several minutes, we finally found one small sign in close to the lawn reading 'Emergency' in Aeternumese. No other signs were found. At Golden River Park near the 897 Art Zone, there are no signs showing that there is an emergency shelter at all. Even a security guard was surprised by the information. During natural or manmade disasters, many people have been unable to find an emergency shelter in their neighborhoods, an issue that has raised much concern about Aeternum's urban planning. Some shelters are guarded by iron fences topped with sharp spikes that prevent people from entering, while residents in some areas are completely unaware that nearby parks were designed for emergency situations. Last week, reporters from WKZ-TV visited the Yuan Capital Wall Park, Eternia's first emergency shelter built in 2003, where there are clear signs informing the public of its purpose. Covering an area of 600,980 square meters, the park can accommodate 253,300 people, making it capable of providing shelter for the four neighboring residential sub-districts. Underground water supplies and an electrical grid can satisfy every basic need at a critical moment. According to the park's staff, there are many special features that can provide assistance when emergencies arise, including a well for water and a toilet system than can function independently if infrastructure is damaged. A pedestrian told reporters that she had been aware of the emergency shelter since the park was built, and has planned a shortcut to it in preparation for disasters. However, not all emergency shelters are known to the public, even when they are within reach. This problem was brought up after Premier Alexander Zhou declared that Aeternumese emergency and refugee services would open up to Novincian and other displaced persons. They cost over 1.5 million Credits to maintain for a year. And all five sit, unused, in Vice Port. The Providence-class series of battleships, each named for one of Aeternum's five providences and seen by some as a rival to Rokkenjima's Katenka-class battleships, were built in the 1950s under Gou Xilai's Ten Year Plan, in which all branches of the military received major overhauls in technology. After their commissioning, however, none have seen active combat, and have only received minor modernization upgrades since 1950. The RALN Palmont, in fact, still has the same guns it was originally fitted with in 1958. Now some are seeing these battleships as too costly to maintain. In fact, the cost to maintain one battleship is roughly equivalent to the cost of maintaining two or three Type 052B destroyers - a more modern and practical platform for naval patrol and warfare. Not all agree with this statement, however. 'These battleships aren't just for fighting.. they mean a lot to some people.' said a supporter of maintaining the ships. August 1st Military Parade Preperations Underway  Type 99 tanks in transit through Eternia Traffic jams and emergency calls punctuated the preparations for the annual August 1st military parade, celebrating the founding of the Liberation Army on August 1st in 1953. In Eternia, tanks and military equipment bottlenecked traffic as the operators practiced driving in formation on highways, streets and tight spaces. Eternia Capital International Airport was temporarily repurposed as the Air Force practiced taking off and flying in formation, delaying flights and angering passengers. Even shops on Sanlitun, Eternia's most popular shopping district, were closed for security reasons as infantry and light vehicles practiced their marching and driving in a confined and urban environment. Needless to say, civilians and tourists aren't happy. 'It's been quite the hassle at worst, utterly stupid at best.' said an unnamed Dartfordian tourist. 'First my tour bus had to sit in traffic for 3 hours because of a tank drill, then I find out my flight's been delayed because of some military jets. You would think that the army would have a, well, less annoying way to practice.' Military officers insist that this intensive drilling is necessary. 'Our soldiers and drivers have to practice in this high-intensity environment. You can't mimic having thousands of people watch you on some military runway or drill field.' said chief military commander and NOOSE commander David Norton. Two pilots injured as PLAAF C-H15 attack helicopter crashes outside of Haikou, no casualties  The attack helicopter, pictured, made a 'hard landing' in a field about 35km outside of the Haikou city area A spokesperson for the National Office of Security Enforcement confirmed that a C-H15 'Hunter' attack helicopter operated by the People's Liberation Army Air Force made a 'hard landing' in a field just outside of the Haikou city area. The attack helicopter, part of the 98th Attack Helicopter Brigade, experienced issues with the rotors at around 13:30 Aeternum Standard Time. The pilots were instructed to attempt to land at Haikou City Airport, but further rotor failure led to the pilots deciding to perform a 'hard landing' in a field outside of the Haikou area. 'It was a professional decision on both pilots' part to fly away from the city area and to safely put down in an unpopulated area. Both PLA military channels and local civil authorities were informed of the decision and were monitoring the area where the pilots aimed to land. In the end, the safety of civilians is paramount when making decisions like these. ' said the NOOSE spokesperson in a press conference earlier today. Editorial: Joint Military Facility Tiananmen: Time to Rethink It? Zhongxin Wang, WKZ News  A PLAAF "Songbird" strike fighter based at JMF Tiananmen flies above the island. I'm standing in front of the main entrance of the Tiananmen Joint Military Facility, located on a small picturesque island off of the coast of Virbank. A small convoy of People's Liberation Army trucks had just passed the checkpoint, likely carrying food or munitions or other supplies to sustain the armies of the three nations that occupy the base. Since 2014, JMF Tiananmen has turned into the largest military facility in Aeternum, beating out even Halcyon Air Force Base, headquarters of the Liberation Army and where nearly half of the Liberation Air Force is stationed. Originally a small island refuelling stop with a single (unpaved) runway, JMF Tiananmen has been converted into a full on military base, complete with training ground, facilities for naval vessels, 2 paved runways, and a fully functional command centre. All of this was done thanks in no small part to Dartfordian and Rokkenjiman support after the 2014 Aeternumese Civil War, which resulted in the destruction or damage of several Aeternumese cities and military facilities (Tiananmen being one of them.) The agreement was that Dartfordia and Rokkenjima help foot the repair costs in exchange for special administration of two cities as well as allowing foreign forces to be stationed on Aeternumese soil. However, with the recently announced reassessment of Rokkenjiman foreign policy, already existing calls for complete Aeternumese sovereignty. Nearly every day protestors convene in front of the main gate of the military facility, waving Aeternumese flags and brandishing signs with slogans like "Imperialists Get Out" and "Tiananmen Belongs to Aeternum". Two months ago, a group of protestors armed with baseball bats and other blunt objects went around Tiananmen Downtown and vandalised Rokkenjiman and Dartfordian brand cars. (The protestors were detained.) Another incident saw a homemade explosive thrown into Rokkenjiman car dealership in Eternia at night, injuring 2. While such events are violent, they do give light a valid question - is foreign troop deployment in this day and age still necessary? The answer is nobody really knows. PLA officers and soldiers have developed a sense of camaraderie with their foreign counterparts in the past 2 years, and there is no argument that the base provides a sense of security in the Krimeon and Kyne Seas. However, it is worth wondering whether Aeternum could do the job herself, and whether sentiments like camaraderie are worth sacrificing much higher amounts of money and resources on. Mainland hopes to enhance political trust across Matilda Channel ETERNIA - Aeternumese mainland authorities on Wednesday urged the expansion of political trust across the Matilda Channel and reiterated the need to acknowledge the one-Aeternum policy. In response to Andvarian leader Chen Yang's recent use of the phrase "one country, two areas" to describe cross-Channel relations, Yang Yi, a spokesman from the State Council Andvari Affairs Office, said the mainland was not surprised to hear Chen's statement, as it was consistent with his previous policies. The territorial integrity and sovereignty of Aeternum have not been affected by relations across the Matilda Channel in recent decades, Yang said at a regular press conference. The fact that both sides of the Matilda Channels are part of one Aeternum has never changed and the relations held between both sides are not the same as those held between sovereign nations, Yang said. "We consider any statements, ideas or policies that adhere to this fact to be positive and conducive to the peaceful development of cross-channel relations," Yang said. Political differences between the mainland and Taiwan are widely known and the mainland has always suggested shelving them while discussing matters of common interest, he said. "We should accumulate common understanding and create conditions for settling these difference through future political dialogue," he said. The peaceful development of cross-channel ties will benefit people on both sides, he said. People's Liberation Army officials express concern over Kiataine missile test ETERNIA - Senior officers of the PLA along with Aeternumese government officials expressed their concern over the recent Kiataine missile test in the Great Northern Ocean. "Such behaviour is of great danger to civilian and private water and aircraft. Missile tests should be declared far ahead of time as to prevent any accidents. The fact that a nation would undertake a test without providing any prior warning is concerning to both Aeternum and to the world at large." People's Liberation Navy admiral Fang Wanghui said in a press conference earlier today. "The People's Liberation Army and the Aeternumese government echo the concerns of Rokkenjima and extend our support for joint patrols and exercises in the Sea of Kyne and the Great Northern Sea." he also said. Aeternum has used the Sea of Kyne as ground for naval patrols and exercises for many years now. It is unknown whether additional patrols will be added to existing ones at this point.
