Legislation Query: Civil law?; Enquiry to find out whether there are any civil laws...

Honoured Speaker of the Senate,

I would like to ask for clarification. Article IV clause 36 states that...

Quote:

36)The High Court will hear cases of criminal and civil prosecution, as well as provide advice onthe constitutional legality of any matter brought before it.

As far as I understand it Criminal law is a "Crime against the state", for which we have a criminal code. However there appears to be no information regarding Civil matters which is frequently "Crimes against the Person."

I would like to know then, if there are any laws regarding the matter of Civil law or any guidance offered for such matters.

Yours Respectfully,

Safraen has fallen.

Dretsyej,

Thanks for getting in touch...again. Hehe.

Currently there are no Senate-issued laws or guidelines regarding Civil Law. However, I believe that there were plans of creating a 'Civil Code', much like the Criminal Code. This would be an issue I'm sure you would like to push for in the upcoming elections ;)

Regards,

...eh why create more work for myself! I look forwards to supporting the Senator that has the Civil Code as a priority on their electoral campaign.

Dear Honoured Speaker of the Senate,

Further more to this topic, I would like to draw your attention to Article IV clause 37 which states that:

Quote:

(37)The Senate is required to create a criminal code, in order to define what acts are criminal and civil offenses

At this point in time, the Senate may in theory be in violation of the constitution by not declaring that, "There are no current civil offenses".

I am aware this is a bit pendantry but the constitution in this matter is clear cut, specifically regarding the reasons for creating the criminal code in the first place.

Dear Dretsyej,

I was not a member of the Senate when the Criminal Code passed, however I understand the potential severity of our existing position. I will consult with other Senators regarding how we should proceed.

I can write a civil code but you will have to give me a day or two.

I look forwards to reading it!

Please be very careful about that civil code. Particularly re: conspiracy corner.
