New Speaker of the House elected After a two-month election period a new Speaker of the House has been elected ; 55 year old Francis Underwood, former mayor of our Nation's Capital ; Starling City. Mr. Underwood will be succeeding the former Speaker of the House ; Andrew Keirn. Mr. Keirn will be retiring at age 64 and spend the rest of his life living with his wife Lauren in their estate in the countryside, The Weazel News staff would like to congratulate Mr. Underwood on his victory and new position in the Saint Monterrey Senate and wish Mr. Keirn and his wife nothing but the best in their futures. The election had been surrounded with controversy as it was rumoured that Mr. Underwood allegedly had bought votes from several high-profile officials and politicians, but this has not been proven as of yet. Upcoming Neo Nazi conference infuriates community Small riots reportedly have broken out in the heart of Starling City because of a Neo Nazi conference that will be taking place this week in the Merlyn Stadium. The Jewish community and many concerned parents have demanded that Starling City's mayor Garrett Powell needs to ban the conference from the city right away and have the Neo Nazi sympathizers removed from the streets by the SCPD. Mayor Powell has stated that he will not do this as that would be a violation of their right of freedom of speech, a right that applies to every Saint Monterranian. This statement has infuriated a lot of the city's citizens, some even going as far as saying that elections should be held to replace this "Hitler lover". Mayor Powell has been taken to an undisclosed secure location together with his family to protect them from possible harm by disgruntled citizens. The SCPD has advised the citizens of Starling City to lock their doors and windows and remain inside their houses for the rest of the day in case the riots might escalate. "Weazel News: Confirming your prejudices!" 15-6-14 News Broadcast A new religious advisor has been chosen .. ? Today, the President has chosen a new religious advisor for the Republic of Saint Monterrey. Former schoolteacher Miss Elizabeth Licorish was chosen for the job, but left the religious community of Saint Monterrey stunned after she declared "I hereby immediately resign from my position, because frankly, God is a big load of hokey. I'll be doing everyone a favor by just shutting up about it." Miss Licorish has been transported to an undisclosed location by the SCPD after immediate attempts to take her life were thwarted. We at Weasel News hope that Miss Licorish will come out of this situation unscathed and that she will be able to continue her normal life soon. Also, the President himself will issue a statement regarding this situation later today. ==== Presidential Statement ==== After the unfortunate events that had taken place earlier today during the inauguration of Miss Licorish as the new religious advisor of Saint Monterrey, I, President Anthony Gibbs, have made the decision that the position of Religious Advisor of the Republic has officially been retired. Now, this does not mean that religion has completely been banned from our glorious nation, but the government will only not actively participate nor acknowledge it. People of Saint Monterrey, I humbly request to you the people, to cease violent actions against Miss Licorish and let her return to her normal life in our society. The same I request for Mayor Powell of Starling City and his family, he only made sure that the freedom of speech in our nation would not be censored in any way and did not intend to hurt you, the citizens of Starling City in any way. "Weazel News: Confirming your prejudices!" 17-6-14 News Broadcast "Before I start this news broadcast, I , John Teller, your loyal News Anchor for over twelve years, would like to apologize for the lack of news yesterday. Our servers had crashed and there was no way to recover the items for yesterday's broadcast. Post-Mortem Organ donation now mandatory As of today, organ donation after you have passed away is now mandatory. The Senate has ruled that people now must donate their organs, instead of having the choice of donating or not donating them. This has drawn the ire of activist group "MBMONG" (My body, my organs, not the goverment's!), who have set up several "Protest Points" as they like to call them in several places in Starling City. Doctor Randy Mistletoe, a big supporter of organ donation has stated the following: "Every day, people die because we don't have the organs to save them. Well, that and widespread under-funding of the health system. But the point is, if the government allowed us to take organs from dead people, we could save hundreds of lives a year. It would be ridiculous if the government would deny us the abililty to save hundreds of lives every year!" Increase in Police? No! says Saint Monterranian Congress. Communities have called for the increase of Police Officers as the crime rate raises, but Congress denies this request. One of the leading figures in Congress has stated "Studies repeatedly show that crime is caused by poverty and poor education. Increase government spending in these areas, and crime will fall! Maybe not overnight, but it will happen. Mark my words, if this bill doesn't pass, it'll get much worse. Does anyone of you want that kind of blood on your hands? Huh?!" There simply was nothing to report! Death sentence to be reintroduced? Politicians say yes! A tragic double-murder in our nation's Capital has shaken up the entire country, local power couple "Bradine" - Brad Myers and Nadine Archer , both known for their roles in several popular movies- have been slain in gruesome fashion after attending a press conference by Minister Balley who was coincidentally rallying AGAINST the death penalty. Many politicians have had enough of the growing crime rate, and demanded that the death penalty should be reinstated to be able to 'treat the cancer' of our nation. Several democratic politicians have called this outrageous, but reluctantly accept this as it's in "the name of Political Freedom". Voting for the bill will start tomorrow afternoon, more shocking details on the murder to be revealed later in this news broadcast. Power couple murdered, V.P. of Saint Monterrey to death row. Earlier this week, power couple "Bradine" has been brutally slaughtered by machine-gunfire after having attended a press conference from Minister Balley in the heart of Starling City. As of two days ago, intensive Police investigation has concluded that the fingerprints and grey hair found on the murder weapon belonged to our own Vice President, James Harding. Our .. our nation has been shocked by this .. this horrifying discovery .. *sniff* .. and SCPD has *sniff* .. has arrested the Vice President at his *sniff* home and has taken him to Danebury State Penitentiary, he .. he will be *sniff* awaiting his trial in a cell on .. on .. *sniff* death row. His w-wife *sniff* has reportedly left *sniff* Saint Monterrey, her destination is unknown. Many l-leaders of the countries in the Independent Order have voiced their disgust on this matter .. s-since they c-can't wrap *sniff* their heads around the fact that *sniff* our own Vice President is a cold blooded murderer *sob*. -- Short break because of "technical difficulties" -- The belief in the Saint Monterranian Government is that Minister Gabriel Lithgow will fill the seat of Vice President of Saint Monterrey. Lithgow is a seasoned politician, and is believed to be the best man for the job. Following our last broadcast, Aeternum-based company "Cognoscenti Technologies" has responded to your statement regarding the development of this new technology that will 'connect the cities of Saint Monterrey'. They said that, and I quote C.E.O Dimon; "Our system has been in development for years. We had an extremely good product to base ctOS off of, which was C3D. Our C3D system was extremely flawed at first, and I'm sure that theirs will be extremely flawed as well. I would like to see how their system will stack up against ours." Today, the Saint Monterranian Senate has voted for a new Vice President. Our new Vice President will be, as expected; Minister Gabriel Lithgow. Vice President Lithgow had gotten the majority of the votes in the Senate, but it was a close battle for the votes between him and Speaker of the House; Francis Underwood, who was also participating in the Vice-Presidential elections! After the votes had been counted and the result had been announced, Mr. Underwood commented with:  "It's always good to see a new face in the Government, I am sure that he will do nothing but good things for our nation." Vice President Lithgow is currently meeting with President Gibbs, discussing several events that are currently happening in our country, and in the Independent Order.  Vice President Lithgow, awaiting the results of the voting process earlier today ================================================================================================================================================================== High Profile Nightclub taken over by A.O.A. M.C. Earlier this week, the A.O.A. Motor Club, better known as the "Angels of Anarchy" have purchased the 'Golden Dragon' Nightclub in downtown BlackWater. The A.O.A. M.C. is known for drug and weapons trafficking, the purchase of the venue may serve as a 'distribution center' for their drugs and weapons. Police Chief Kellerman of the BWPD has stated earlier that the BWPD will not hesistate to use heavy force against the M.C. if they need to. ================================================================================================================================================================== Dangerous convicts on the run A Prison transport has been 'robbed' today on its way to a maximum-security Correctional Facility, a correctional officer who managed to flee the scene has told Weazel News that the 'robbers' used Military grade weaponry and vehicles to take out the transport and aid two convicts with their escape. Empire Bay State Police has revealed the identities of the escaped convicts:  "Theodore 'T-Bag' Bagwell  Arnold Shaw Bagwell had been convicted for several murders in first degree and weapon trafficking, while Shaw was convicted for setting up several drug trafficking routes and one first degree murder. Both men have strong ties with the Gravelli mob, of which people believe that Shaw is their boss and Bagwell being his most trusted enforcer. Everyone living in the state of Empire Bay has been advised to stay clear of both men and contact their local Law Enforcement Agency if they would spot them, as they are armed and dangerous. It remains unclear how the perpetrators had been able to gain access to Military grade weapons and vehicles, and effectively use them in this escape. "Weazel News: Confirming your prejudices!" 12-7-14 News Broadcast Breaking news! President Gibbs target of assassination attempt Here's some breaking news for you! Our own President Gibbs would have been DEAD today if Saint Monterrey's National Guard would not have been present at the scene. A black SUV appeared out of nowhere and four men opened fire on the President's motorcade, but thanks to the National Guard the President got out of this sticky situation practically unharmed. The 'Saint Monterrey Liberation Front', better known as 'S.M.L.F.' has claimed responsibility for this villainous deed. Three of the shooters have been arrested and are currently being interrogated by the S.Y.I.A. (Saint Monterrey Intelligence Agency), the fourth shooter has been shot to death during the short gunfight. This group of rebels claimed that "The cleansing of Saint Monterrey starts now! We want a new President, and government by Saint Monterranians .. FOR Saint Monterranians. We will not cease our actions until our demands are met." Security for all Government Officials has been increased and a curfew for every Saint Monterranian has been set until further notice. Nobody is allowed to get out on the streets from 8 P.M. until 8 A.M. , anyone who DOES go out on the streets during the curfew will be shot to death without any warning. Vice President demands "modern" Capitol. Change was promised, and change we may get! Vice President Lithgow has demanded that Saint Monterrey's Congress needs a 'new look' and therefore a new Capitol! Word is that the V.P. has reached out to several architects in the Independent Order in search for the 'perfect design' for the Capitol that will represent the 'identity' of our nation. This has been the main subject of debate in Saint Monterrey's Government and amongst the citizens across the country. Many people have declared that they want to return to the 'old ways' of Saint Monterrey, and have a King ruling the country as it is 'supposed' to be. If a King would be chosen as our Nation's ruler, current President Anthony Gibbs, 24th President of Saint Monterrey, will have to step down as President. "Weazel News: Confirming your prejudices!" 24-7-14 News Broadcast Saint Monterranian Delegation headed for East Moreland A Presidential Press Statement released earlier today, has confirmed that a Delegation is on its way to East Moreland to attend the Royal wedding of King David the Third and his bride, Miss Osman. Vice President Lithgow, the father of President Gibbs; Anthony Gibbs Sr. , and the Chief Justice Mr. Harold Walker all have been confirmed to be part of the Delegation. Also rumored to be travelling to East Moreland with the delegation to attend the ceremony is Katia Alexis Monterne, youngest daughter of one of the last living members of the Royal 'Monterne' family but this has not been officially confirmed by the government. President Gibbs will unfortunately not be able to attend the ceremony, due to several internal affairs in the Saint Monterranian Government. My heartfelt congratulations on behalf of myself and the Weasel News staff go out to King David III and his soon-to-be wife! May the two of you have a long and prosperous life together. |

[OOC: I'm so late with everything ..] "Weazel News: Confirming your prejudices!" 11-8-14 News Broadcast All aboard! Earlier today, at 2:30pm the newest addition to the fleet of Saint Monterranian cruiseships has been unveiled in the Harbour of Starling City! It has been named "MS King Henry", after Saint Monterrey's first King. The ship is approximately 1,111.9 ft long and was built by the ZanCO Shipyard. The ship has a total of eighteen decks, of which fifteen are available to its passengers.  The construction of the ship was completed a week ago after five years work, and definitely is sea worthy. It is capable of 'carrying' over four thousand passengers and over one thousand crew members. The first journey of the MS King Henry is expected to be a Royal one, as the new -soon to be revealed- King is rumored to be planning a 'cruise' open to all nation leaders as a way of 'tightening the bonds' between Saint Monterrey and the other nations in the Independent Order. |

"Weazel News: Confirming your prejudices!" 11-8-14 News Broadcast Royal Library in ashes Earlier this morning, the Starling City Fire Department did their best to extinguish a fiery fire, but to no avail. The Royal Library of Saint Monterrey, is no more. Investigators have concluded that the fire, was in fact the work of a pyromaniac who has been haunting our nation for years. This has been confirmed by a large wolve's head being spraypainted on several walls inside the library.  The fire had started in the King Henry hall, and quickly spread to other parts of the Library. Many historical documents have been destroyed as a result of the fire, including many hand-written letters from Kings and Queens to foreign leaders. King Danforth is also rumored to be devastated because of the fire, as he enjoyed reading historic Saint Monterranian literature. The Royal Library had been founded in the year of 1940, by the famous Saint Monterranian archeologist; Sir Andrew Moore. |

"Weazel News: Confirming your prejudices!" 22-8-14 News Broadcast Two Saint Monterranian soldiers gone missing  Sgt. Abramov on the right, Lt. Haynes on the left. Earlier today, two Saint Monterranian soldiers have misteriously disappeared from Fort Braxton near Boulder City in the state of Port Jefferson. The barracks the two had been staying in were trashed completely, as if there had been a huge fight inside of it. Oddly enough, no one had noticed the disappearance of the two men until the barracks were about to be inspected around 6:00 pm. Foul play is suspected, as the two soldiers had been praised for their discipline and hard work recently by General Darby, one of the highest ranking military officials in the country. The Saint Monterranian Department of Defense suspects Borlanders being involved, as King Isaak Danforth I had declared that Saint Monterrey officially recognized Borland as a sovereign nation, but withdrew that statement hours later, according to an anonymous source from inside the palace, after our King had contacted the King of East Moreland; David III. The whereabouts of the two soldiers are unknown as of now, and the Saint Monterranian Department of Defense is rumored to be reaching out to their counterparts in East Moreland and Borland. "Weazel News: Confirming your prejudices!" 26-8-14 News Broadcast Life in SPACE?! For the past week King Isaak has been meeting up with several top scientists from all across the country, and it seems like they are discussing the possibility of living in SPACE! According to a source in the Palace, King Isaak is looking into the options of living in a 'big space station' somewhere outside of the earth's orbit. According to the same source, who requested to remain anonymous, has sent us a photo that indicates what the futuristic 'habitat' for us humans will possibly look like. Obviously, this is not the definite design of the big cities in space and it will not just serve as a home to the King and his family and staff, but it will also serve as a home for all Saint Monterranians!  Will this be our new home in 10(100?) years from now? King Isaak is said to be hoping that the plans will be realized and that Saint Monterrey will be a "space nation" in around 10 or 100 years from now! More on this story, as we get it! |

"Weazel News: Confirming your prejudices!" 26-8-14 News Broadcast Sign of life from missing soldiers. In a video message sent to us earlier today by the so-called "government" from "Borland", a sign of life from the two missing Saint Monterranian soldiers has been shown. The two seem to be doing fine, or so it seems. In the video the two urge King Danforth to pay up and declare that Saint Monterrey recognizes "Borland" as a sovereign nation, or else the two brave soldiers may not see their families ever again. We will keep Sgt. Abramov and Lt. Haynes in our prayers through this difficult time, and hope that they shall return home soon. We, at Weazel News also pray for the demise of Kyle Barren and his so-called "nation" in the near future. |

The USR Pravda had announced earlier today, that Stalin had died. Of course, paired with some brain-washing propaganda about how great and kind he was. But you and I know better than that right, people of Saint Monterrey? Many Saint Monterranians have gone out onto the streets and celebrate the news of his death, likewise in Rokkenjima, Dartfordia, East Moreland, and Quinntopia. Even King Danforth has sent out a statement regarding the death of his 'colleague'.

The Department of Homeland Security has released a statement to the press today, saying that any Borlander who currently is residing or travelling in Saint Monterrey will be deported and denied access to our nation indefinitely. Or in other words, Borlanders are not welcome here. This is a result of those .. 'Borlanders' kidnapping two of our soldiers from their barracks in Fort Braxton. Anyone with a 'Borland passport', and with 'Borland passport' I mean piece of paper with a name and picture on it, will be detained by the local authorities and will be deported as soon as possible. Of course not to Borland, but they will receive a one-way ticket to East Moreland. And we at Weazel News, are more than certain that East Moreland will welcome these traitors with open arms! So yes, my fellow Saint Monterranians that may mean you will have to have your passport with you at any time of the day for the upcoming weeks, but that is all for a greater good! And with greater good, I mean getting rid of these filthy 'Borlanders'. |

"Weazel News: Confirming your prejudices!" 4-11-14 News Broadcast Nation mourns the loss of former King  The nation has been engulfed in sadness, upon hearing the news of the passing of our former King; Isaak Danforth the First. King Danforth had been diagnosed with abdominal cancer twenty years ago, and it seemed like he had won the battle ten years later after several treatments. But the disease returned three weeks ago, and eventually caused him to abdicate not long after. King Danforth had been hospitalized in the King Henry Memorial Hospital and he even underwent surgery, which was successful and had been told that he would live at least another ten years upon his awakening. But his condition worsened sunday night, and many doctors had stated that he would not even make it through the night. He had been blessed by Daron and he pulled through the night, and the two nights after. But at five a.m. this morning, the King passed away, he was surrounded by friends and family for weeks until his death and died peacefully in his sleep. King Danforth is survived by his wife, Diane Danforth - Harlowe and by his two months old son, Markus Danforth. A memorial service will be held this weekend after the King's burial on sunday morning, where current President Benoît will give a eulogy for him. King Danforth will be buried in a sarcophagus in the crypts of the Westminster Church, next to all other former Kings and Queens of Saint Monterrey who have passed away. God bless Saint Monterrey .. Today, at 3:30 A.M. this morning .. former President Anthony Gibbs Jr. has been arrested by the Port Jefferson State Police in the Forager's National Park. "Weazel News: Confirming your prejudices!" 28-11-14 News Broadcast Unmarked fighter jets spotted. Several reports of unmarked fighter jets approaching the nation from overseas have been brought to our attention today, the planes are said to have entered the Saint Monterranian airspace in great numbers. Many witnesses have described them as 'armed and dangerous.'. Weazel News has reached out to the Saint Monterranian Department of Defense earlier today, they gave us the following statement:
We, at Weazel News, of course are aware of the fact that any Government department that is asked to explain similar situations does not always tell the truth. Therefore, we advise you to stay calm but stay alert. We will do our best to get to the bottom of this, and report it to you, the people, when we know more. |

"Weazel News: Confirming your prejudices!" 29-11-14 News Broadcast *BREAKING NEWS* Nation engulfed in panic *BREAKING NEWS* After having witnessed what what has happened merely twenty minutes ago, the nation has been engulfed in total chaos and panic. The President, who turned out to be exactly the up-to-no-good slimeball who we thought he could be, has declared that Saint Monterrey is now called "Königsgrad", and fighter jets flew over the Capitol towards the inner city of what we assume to be called 'Soumont' still. Several explosions in the city have been reported, which we believe to have been caused by the planes flying over the city. Even in other parts of the nation there have been several explosions, the source of these is unknown. People of Saint Monterrey, we urge you to remain inside your homes for the remainder of the day and keep your windows and doors closed. This may very well be the last time we are able to send out a broadcast to you, so this is a 'goodbye and see you soon' from Weazel News Staff. Hopefully this madness will be solved as soon as possible .. |
