Mr Speaker, It has been brought to my attention that, through an Order in Council, the Most Honourable Marchioness Beatrice PC has been appointed Vice Chancellor of the Independent Order. According to Section (5) of the Vice Chancellor Act (2014):
Therefore, I beg to move that the Senate expels the Most Honourable member from this chamber. May I also take this moment to thank the Most Honourable member for her services to this chamber and to the Independent Order, she has been one of our most active Senators, contributing a great deal to our legislative agenda. I hope we can all wish her well in her new role as Vice Chancellor. Edited by CGJ, 7th July 2014 - 12:05 PM.

I'd like to say thank you to Beatrice for the amazing jobs she's done as part of the government and while its regretable she can't be a member of the government anymore I know she'll be an amazing Vice-Chancellor. I support CGJ's motion.

I, too, must support this motion, as the law is quite clear, although Beatrice has been a truely outstanding member of the Independant Order's government.

I'd like to thank you all for the privilege to serve alongside you, and for your kind words! It has been an honour to serve as a Senator, and a Minister for the Premier! Don't fret though, I'm not going anywhere and I'm sure we'll still be working together, if just in a different capacity. Am I allowed to support my own expulsion motion?

While I support the motion, I'm not sure it's necessary. We could just say that acceding to the office of Vice Chancellor removes one from the Senate, or she could resign

Following the principle used in the House of Commons, as the Most Honourable member has been appointed to an 'illegal' position during her time as a Senator, she is acting contrary to constitutional law and thus should be expelled by other members. Of course, she could resign*, but my motion has already carried** ![]() *Edit: She could have resigned earlier, definitely, but the process AFTER she has been appointed is sketchy (or more to the point, non-existent) - thus we shall set a precedent ![]() **Edit 2: and carried before B's resignation.
