For those of us in the UK the big night is less than an hour away. So I thought to get in the mood I'd start this thread. So the following questions apply, give your answer and your reason. 1. Favourite Doctor 2. Favourite companion 3. Favourite alien 4. Most scary alien 5. Favourite character other than the doctor or companion. |

1. David Tennant. A good Doctor needs to be equally funny and badass. Tennant could switch from one to the other so easily. 2. Rory Pond. Loved the idea of him just being the Centurion who hung around. I think he was also so different to other companions in many ways. 3. The Sontarin. They just make me laugh 4. The weeping Angels. I think we all relate to the thing moving in the corner of your eye and I hate that ominous "don't blink" idea because you know sooner or later your screwed. 5. River Sung. Just for the line to the Nazi about being on her way to a guy Jewish barmitvah or something along those lines. |

1. Matt Smith, in my opinion the best I've seen and my favorite because he wasn't played as the hero type instead he was much more human and easier to relate to just a "Mad man with a box". Though this may be down to better writing on Steven Moffat's part than Russell T Davie's. And they didn't repeat the same mistakes with his incarnation. 2. Amy Pond (obviously) for plenty of reasons, the main one being that she was a well thought out character with twists that you never thought would happen I never had her pegged as River's mother until the episode we found out. But it was the chemistry between her and the Doctor I found really great (series 5 episode 4 is a prime example of this) 3. The Silurians- purely for the Sherlock Holmes wannabe Silurian who seems to have appeared in Victorian times. 4. The Weeping Angels- for all the reasons Dave said 5. The Master (as played by John Sim) a brilliant reincarnation of the old rival/foe, and the sequence at the start of Series 3 episode 13 is just hilarious, but I also appreciated the 'redemption' moment when him and Tennant's Doctor combined to stop the return of the Time Lord's the whole "Get out of the way" thing was brilliant. 1. The Fourth Doctor! He was my first Doctor, and Tom Baker will always be who I think of first when thinking of the series. Of new Who, Tennant is my favorite. 2. Well, Sarah Jane Smith, considering she was the 4th's companion for a while. Of new Who, Amy Pond takes it for me. 3. I think the Judoon are pretty cool, but I don't have a good answer for this one. 4. FRICKIN. WEEPING. ANGELS. My fiancee's parents have a (non angel) statue in their back yard and I always have to keep an eye on it. The only one that I would say could be as scary as them is the Vashta Nerada. 5. Madame de Pompadour. The Girl in the Fireplace is my absolute favorite episode of all time. Added bonus, favorite new Who quote: "Good men don't need rules. Today is not the day to find out why I have so many." EDIT: Oh, and by the way, it's a pretty big day for those of us not in the UK too ![]() SECOND EDIT: Realized I had a spoiler in here for people who hadn't watched the special. Edited it out. 1. Favourite Doctor: Matt Smith - IMO most charismatic. Had lots of habits and mannerisms Never actually watched that much of David Tenant's stuff, so never really warmed to him. 2. Favourite companion: Amy Pond - Most elaborate character art and most interesting back story. Had tangible impacts on the plot arc and the development of her and the eleventh doctor. 3. Favourite alien: It really has to be daleks. So recognizable and consistently terrifying. 4. Most scary alien: Weeping Angels. *shudders* 5. Favourite character other than the doctor or companion. River Song, her back and forth parley with the doctor is hilarious and I like the dynamic of their 'reversed' timeline. |

1. Favourite Doctor: David Tennant...I probably will always associate him as being 'my' Doctor, as his was the first series I ever really watched. Then again, Capaldi... 2. Favourite Companion: Donna Noble. She, out of all companions, genuinely thought of herself as being well...nothing. And she worked so well with the Doctor because of it – and also Catherine Tate, she was brilliant. I do, however, have to give a special mention for Sarah Jane Smith, she not only made oldWho fans fall in love with her alongside Pertwee and Baker, she made a whole new generation of kids love her with the Sarah Jane Adventures. 3. Madam Vastra: She and Jenny are just so undeniably CUTE!!! 4. Most scary alien: Weeping Angels. They were scary, man Until Moffat had to go and ruin them5. Favourite other character: I would probably say Strax...he's just flippin' brilliant. |

Well, Weeping Angels didn't exist then. Although I found the original Cybermen a little more daunting than the original Daleks, personally. |

1. William Hartnell, the first Doctor. He was kind of abrasive while remaining likable and compassionate, all while becoming less abrasive as time went on. I see some traits of the first in Capaldi's Doctor, and look forward to seeing where the 12th goes. ![]() 2. Amy Pond, others have stated plenty of reasons and I feel they've covered them well enough. 3. Madam Vastra. C's reason applies, and she simply kicks ass. ![]() 4. I'm going to break the trend and go with the Daleks (which I considered for favourite aliens as well). I mean, unless you're the Doctor they're fairly unstoppable and would make just about any day a bad day. 5. Again, like C, going to go with Strax. Why? He makes me laugh.
