AHJISTAN BROADCASTING DIRECTORATE The Ahjistan Broadcasting Directorate (ABD) is the official mouthpiece of the Confederated Borderlands of Ahjistan. Overseen by the Executive Council with an advisory board of the Conclave, the ABD monopolizes all broadcast media, including television and radio. The ABD also publishes official dispatches in the form of pamphlets and public bulletins. The three main programs are the Ahjistan Prophet, a general news and announcement program, the Chief of Staff's Desk which handles official govermnetal declarations and “The Five Rugs,” a state sponsored infotainment show featuring five individuals themed after a traditional Ahjistan folktale who provide commentary on current events, as well as serving as a subtle means by which the regime can influence public opinion. The ABD also operates multiple radio stations on shortwave, FM and AM bands broadcasting everything from music to religious programming to technical educational programs. Again, those Faithful serving Ahjistan in the 3rd and 4th Territorial Reserve Brigades are to report to their respective armories in preparation for service by 12:00 AM tonight in accordance with General Edict 7221. Of course we speak of the call up of our brothers in the Territorial Reserves. Many from Kolmar, many from the Central Wastes.” Fire Rug: “And do we wonder why? USR like a shooting star streaks across the continent. They wage war on their very friends!” Flowing Rug: “Do you suggest then that they are preparing to strike us as well?” The Host: “What a preposterous notion. Why do you even suggest such a thing in this public place? The USR and Ahjistan have no enmity. They ignore the natural order, yes, but look, look. We share arms, we wear their uniforms, we have never waged war.” Fire Rug: “Can they be trusted? I say no. What is to keep them and their tanks from pouring over the mountains?” Tempest Rug: “Mountains do! Besides that, common sense! They are bringing a brother back into their fold: would you take a stranger into your house just because he is your neighbor?” Flowing Rug: “Also, can they afford to? I hear my Russian friends, I have many of them. They whisper amongst themselves, of their families and friends having their bread pinched day by day.” The Host: “And there it is! This is why I think our brothers and sisters are not enjoying their morning tea. Again, the foresight of the Chief and scholars is apparent. Odus Insurgent Activity Decreasing. Today, Minister of the Interior Lt. General Josef Naroma announced that Odus insurgent activity has declined across all indicators for the second consecutive month. Kidnappings are down 30%, while bombings, especially roadside, are down 40%. Attacks on security forces are down 10%, but Lt. General Naroma explains that these numbers include engagements that occurred due to security forces striking at the dens of the insurgent vipers. "I can explain our success in two ways," said the Lt. General, "First, we can attribute our success to the brave and resourceful men and women of the Ahjistan security forces... and second, we can attribute it... to the peoples of Malcentralia and Malsouthralia who have begun to cooperate in order to secure a more peaceful future for Ahjistan." The current spate of violence began earlier this year when a marketsquare bombing in the Malsouthralia capital of Trenchtown claimed the lives of 100 innocent civilians, the largest loss of life since the 2002 raid on Ronnrey Hershes compound which marked the end of the Second Wave terrorist network. Since the bombing, an initiative lead by Lt. General Josef Naroma utilizing new, population centric tactics and a notable lack of carpet bombing has resulted in a quicker than average suppression of Odus insurgents. "At this rate, we hope to contain the present insurrection within the next month. Of course, this entirely depends on the desire for the Odus people to ban together to reject this senseless violence, before we are forced to begin utilizing time honored tactics known to be effective against such infestations." Second Two Headed Cow Bred, Claims Malsouthralia Farmer Mr. Adelo, of Norris Town, Malsouthralia, has claimed that he has successfully bred another Two Headed specimen of the Red Blade Bull. The Red Blade Bull, held sacred by our Faith, has throughout history been rumored to breed a symmetric male of the variety every hundred years. Once thought an improbable blessing of nature, Mr. Adelo in 1996 claimed that he had intentionally bred a Symmetric. However, the creature was eaten by dingos before photographic evidence could be produced. Mr. Adelo, a former agricultural professor at the Ahjistan Academy for the Useful Arts and Sciences, has devoted his life to breeding a Symetric ever since his post-doctorate work revealed an attempt throughout our history to reproduce the Devoted One's companion. Now Mr. Adelo has sent pictures of the specimen to the Conclave who have dispatched an envoy to determine whether or not Mr. Adelo will be put to death or to be praised for furthering Ahjistan Naturalism. Several corporations are offering massive cash sums for Mr. Adelo's genetic property, but some members of the Fanning Delta faction of the Conclave have publicly stated that the knowledge belongs to all Faithful, and thus the Conclave should have the rights to the Symmetric's genetic code.
