Posts: 88 Group: Independent Nation Member #446 Joined: 9 July 2014 NationStates Nation In Our Region Empire of the White Feathered Alliance	World News In a sudden turn of events, a Odinist terrorist group "Gungnir" have taken hostage around 239 passengers on passenger craft Nordwind Flight 540. While most of the passengers remain unharmed, the deaths of two individuals have been confirmed, and the suspected death of a third is still under investigation. The Führer, while not directly supporting the terrorist organization, has shown signs of sympathy towards their cause, stating: Quote: "The struggles of these peoples is no more than the struggles we suffered under a corrupt and broken government year prior. We should not be so quick to label, but look into the deeper causes of why these people feel the way they do. If we understand and cooperate with these 'Terrorists' we may find a way to end this situation with as little violence as possible. It is important to remember that one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter, and outright killing this group of people might insight rebellions in other regions of the UNP."

The previous space agency, Ostenvolker National Aeronautics Society, participated and contributed little to space exploration. With a total of 8 satellites launched in its 10 year career, all of which now under military control, the space agency lived a very uneventful and wasteful career. The Führer promised a larger Ostenvolke presence in orbit and throughout the cosmos in the coming years to make up for the failures of the republic in years past. The new agency, Ostenvolker Osten Nautica, has proposed a mission to launch not only a Ostenvolke into space, but even go as far as performing a close flyby of the moon. This mission, dubbed 'Geburt einer Zivilisation' is still mostly in the works, however the agency has promised a policy of complete openness to the public to ensure the population can keep up to date with this historic and monumental event. While critics have been quick to point out how small the achievement will look in comparison to that of other nations, such of Rokkenjima and Quinntopia, the event is more than a simple flex of muscle, rather a symbol of how prosperous our nation has become under the guiding hand of the Führer himself.

The act of generosity has saved lives, but has the international community commended the act? The answer is no following the Rokkenjiman Empresses wish to both embargo and levy sanctions against the nation of Ostenvolker for 'supporting and funding' a terrorist organization. The Führer, unable to speak on the current matter due to personal struggles, has allowed the minister of security to speak on his behalf. Quote: People of Ostenvolker, our proud and strong people. We have found ourselves insulted and bullied by what some would consider 'The model nation' of Rokkenjima. This nation and their Empress has condemned our generous donation for the safety of multiple innocents in a hostage situation. We knew of the consequences should we not have allowed those people safe passage off the plane. We knew of the fate that awaited some or even most of them. This money was donated while these so called 'Super Powers' and 'Champions of Human Rights' meddled idly while the real threat was still, very much, at large. It has become apparent then, that in the pretext of saving lives, our nation has found ourselves demonized and victimized by the global powers. It would appear that our National struggle is not over, and that it will take many years before we can be accepted as long as these powers think they can bully us into submission. I say take pride in this, each and everyone of you; take pride in the fact that the nation of Ostenvolker has saved lives. Take pride in the fact that the nation is not afraid of what a few pompous figures abroad think of them. Take pride in the fact that our nation will endure through the hatred and sanctions.
