![]() A New Beginning Hello and Welcome to the Daily Emirate, your new news network here to provide the most recent national updates from across the Amcin Emirates. From Arlestyne to Kirjastan, the Steppes of Manir to the Peaks of Blymid to the Kirji Desert, we're here to give the Amcin people the information that they deserve. Our story tonight, perhaps the most important we will ever broadcast: We are a new nation! Following a complete governmental shake up by Grand Viceroy Jeziel Munir, the Allied Council was reformed into a much more watered down form of government headed by the self proclaimed Emir, heightening his original family name to glory in a bid to show his rise from the bottom of society. In a speech of some grandeur, the Emir highlighted the failure of the Confederacy in showing the world the strength and righteousness of the Amcin people. It had only served to conglomerate the "dregs of secession". Thousands were admitted into Modinna's Political Quarter to the Emir's Palace (formerly the Parliament Building) to witness their ruler's statement. Akin to a massed political rally, fanatics and loyalists cheered and chanted whilst banners flew above the heads of the people. The elite paramilitary private army of the Emir were out in the hundreds on crowd control duty, making many question whether or not the new order will feature a more militarised doctrine. As to the governmental details, the previous members of the Allied Council: Eduard Lyonne, Alen Mullimaahs, Louess Richhiel and Benje Barness have been honorarily titled as Sharifs, princes of each Amcin Emirate. Faron Fazareche has not been seen for many weeks and rumors have spread as a result of his disappearance. As such, Sharif Barness is overseeing rulership of Gille until the Emir announces otherwise. Sharif Mullimaahs has been named Sayyid, and will lead the Amcin people in all religious matters. He says that he is "privileged to be deigned a descendant of Amzaar." Furthermore, Sharif Lyonne has been sworn in as Royal Sheikh, the Emir's second-in-command in state leadership. With the Allied Parliament officially being torn down, many Representatives (Governors) have protested that democracy has been wiped out of the country and given to one "power-crazed tyrant and his cronies in friendship" so says the Governor for North Merchzii. It is yet to be announced whether or not the Emir and Sharifs are hereditary positions or elected ones, though the information currently points towards a hereditary government. The Socialist Group, once the voice of fierce opposition to the "Karsim Cabal" in the parliament, says that the move was "inevitable and what we should expect from the corporatist, walking god-complex that is Jeziel Karsim." They protest that it was an attack on political freedoms to "shut us up". The Socialists say that they were gaining more support each day in parliament and they will continue to fight the government. Little more has been announced and we expect the Emir and his deputies to drip feed us information on policy change as the days pass. Many hope that it will better establish the nation after the dreaded 'Toshikawa Crisis'. More to come on The Daily Emirate... |

Over Distant Horizons The Emirates' forecast in foreign policy ![]() Left to Right: Sharif Barness, Emir Karsim and Leott Tarkkin overlooking the Gillish horizon The Royal Office has today released a statement today regarding the short term foreign policies that the United Amcin Emirates will adopt. In the statement, little legislation and talk of trade is evident, leaving critics sceptical as to if the Emir has a fully thought out policy at all. It comes after public pressure over the diplomatic handicaps brought about by the Toshikawan Crisis, which left the country on hostile terms with the First Empire of Rokkenjima and the Kingdom of Dartfordia, and on tense lines with East Moreland. Other countries have displayed their disapproval, including South Hills and Seaforth. The statement reads: "Our first priority with regards to foreign policy is to open ourselves to diplomatic talks with the First Empire and East Moreland. Our ability to establish Offices in these nations again is paramount for our global outreach and diplomatic strength. Two of the world's most prominent powers have suggested opening talks with us after they see positive results of our great nation on the international stage. With Offices in place, after what we hope will be beneficial talks, our ability to influence overseas will be improved, promoting ourselves as a warm nation and not one of bitter rivalry and corporatist means." This seemed satisfactory for many, but the majority of 'Karsim-Kritics' wanted more information on sustainability and long term foreign policy. In the statement, it was scarcely mentioned: "After the turbulence has subsided, we will work to expand our trade links and outsource our resources and commercial backbone even more. By the day we would hope to reach every nation's heart with diplomacy, trade and friendliness." Leena Hazim, leader of the Socialist revolutionary group 'Imaan', described the statement as: "Airy, diluted and completely senseless." We will be pressing the Royal Office for more answers, but Emir Karsim has stated: "Empress Anselmo is an understanding figure and I am sure that we will reach a convivial agreement between our two nations. 'Ideologically opposed?', I will not be deterred from friendship under the auspices of this pathetic line of thinking." Interestingly enough, the nation of Dyfedia, once a part of Thomradia, was also mentioned. "We were sceptical of Dyfedia and announced this concern, but never stated that we would take action. In turn they twisted our concerned words and made then hostile threats. We would want to access diplomacy with them to entice friendliness and cooperation. The same can be said for Meche who have yet to lift their ludicrous sanctions against us. I am confident that such can be achieved." We will keep you updated as we are given snippets of the latest government 'Manifesto'. Edited by Jeziel, 27th December 2014 - 12:17 AM.

Military Spending on the Increase UAE to commit to expansion of ground, air, and naval forces The Royal Office has confirmed that one of the new changes in policy will be a massive increase in Military spending of between 50%-60%. The change has come about after growing resentment amongst citizens after the Government's attempts to establish a military foothold in Alba Karinya, which failed completely at the hands of Rokkenjima and her allies. The Emir has apologised and stressed that relations need to be rebuilt, so why then has he felt pressured to direct money into the forces? In a statement, Emir Karsim stated that "our population is deceptively large for a country of our size. Our armed forces are deceptively minuscule in terms of our population. We are not a major player in the world on this issue, and it is imperative that we are. We have the capacity, wealth and general diplomatic neutrality to successfully achieve this goal." The armed forces are entirely supplied by private manufacturers and part funded by private equity. The government has allowed for vast expenses - somewhere between 6 and 12 billion Credj - to start a short term contract with monopolised arms manufacturer, Stahl Arms Ltd. This is simply an opening contract and is subject to change and grow. The exact figures will not be released yet, but we know that as far as heavy, light, and weapons manufacturing is concerned, the rate of such is massive. It is not just the existing vehicles, weapons, ships and aircraft that will be put into turbodrive, but also the development of new weapons and technologies by Stahl Arms Ltd. and other private firms that will decide the fate of the future Amcin Military - with plans to research missile defence systems and technologies to combat anti-missile technology. As well as the spending, recruitment will become mandatory by law and increase massively, with four men recruited for every one previously - five in Kirjastan. "Albion is by far the most peaceful and well intentioned continent in the world. Of that there is no doubt" says Royal Sheikh Eduard Lyonne, "but we must be ready for anything, and unlike the Dijeli army, we are not an elite core of soldiers but an army of rank and file soldiers. We need to make an impact. We rely not on foreign allies to fight wars for us and we hope we will never have to use the new Emirati Armed Forces in the near or far future." Landing Craft transporting mechanised vehicles and munitions across from Isis to Gille with Siege Platforms in the background Emir releases statement regarding the blockade of Zachachevania In a public interview, Emir Karsim described his thoughts on the blockade of The United Socialist Republics of Zachachevania: "Actually, we were looking to establish real, genuine trade routes with Zachachevania. Commerce is something that I feel they need to progress on the world stage and I would deny and scorn any who accuse me or the UAE of conspiring with a nation who allegedly funds terrorists... "Well on that issue I can honestly say that I don't know. But such events cannot get in the way of commerce and trade when it comes to countries like ours who, actually, have nothing to do with that sort of thing. We refuse to buy into any particular side. "Yes, building relations with Rokkenjima is a priority, and it should not impede us trading with Zachachevania. Simple as that. "Look, I don't endorse their government. Communism, corrupt or pure, is not ideal at all. The Amcin people have always rejected these left wing virtues and it is radical to agree with their government. But government does not diminish the potential profit that we could achieve and at the moment, this blockade certainly does not speak for us or our freedoms. It is unnecessary and, having learned from our past interventions, rather unwise. How can we expect to send ships into their ports without repercussion? How can we expect to establish trade deals without being painted as the bad guy?" "Naturally, Emir, your friend the Khan of Jassinar,Ijil Ka'llik, is in trouble for alleged comments made against Zachachevania. He is noted as saying 'thank goodness that they (Zach.) didn't join the student exchange programme with us. I imagine those poor brainwashed commie-kids would suffer great illness inside this most ardent haven of free marketeers.' It's on record." "Well, look. We are some of the most ardent free marketeers in the world, that is my genuine opinion. And it was said using very colourful terms and not in the best taste, but I do see the sense. There is a certain level of intervention by the government with those children and the radical change would give them a bit of a shock." "Not pneumonia, then?" "No, haha, not pneumonia. Barely a sniffle I'd say. Actually that would be impossible it's much hotter here anyway!" Edited by Jeziel, 17th February 2015 - 12:20 PM.

No to Human Rights? Royals say 'no' to joining the MCUR After pressure from campaigning groups and broadcasters and in light of several accusations of the Gypsy population being beaten and mistreated by government bodies, the Royal Office - or more specifically the high group the Sharifate - has released a statement announcing that the UAE will not be a signatory to the Mundus Convention on Universal Rights. The statement is signed by Sharif Barness and reads as such: "We are a proud people with our own culture and history. We will not pander to a general consensus which decides how the rights of the citizens a specific country should be abolished and morphed into a single, united body. Human rights exist in this country in the Amcin Citizen's Constitution - if these protesters even bothered to read it. It is an independent charter that protects Amcin people and defends their liberties and well-being. Because we do not want to sign a foreign charter does not mean that we do not care and cater for our own people. This is a deliberate attempt to once again federalise and deprive this nation of its sovereignty and we will not allow that." On the Kaamin accusations, Sharif Barness said: "The Kaamin people are not Amcin and therefore do not technically fall under the Constitution. But to say that they are mistreated by the government and that there is, to quote the socialist Leena Hazim 'a secret purge', is utter madness. We are not violating the rights of the Kaamin population but it must be clear that so long as they refuse to abide by our laws and customs they may be subjected to intolerance by the population. It is that simple." The Emir has not spoken on this issue and it is assumed that he chairs the secret commission known as the Sharifate. It would seem that the MCUR is not in our government's eyes, but they insist that they do not oppose the convention itself but rather the notion that each country needs to sign up to one set of rules rather than develop its own. Critics such as Leena Hazim have described it as "backward looking and inverted." Supporting commentators of the right wing papers say that "creating an Amcin code of rights is entirely reasonable and would ensure that the individual needs and cultures of the Amcin society is met. We are different cultures and we need to acknowledge that rights are not simply concreted into every nation as one body." Edited by Jeziel, 6th January 2015 - 08:21 PM.

Gille becoming centre of attention Execution announced! It has been hinted that the political developments in Gille are stirring up to become the centrepiece of the entire Amcin Emirates. It has stood now for a few months that Faron Fazareche, the former Viceroy of Gille, has been out of the public eye with no trace. ![]() The Sharifate has allowed its spokesperson, the Royal Vizier, Leott Tarkkin, to express that the noble son of the wealthiest banking CEO in the country will be making a comeback appearance onto our screens...but not as one would expect. The Emir is going to release a statement very soon announcing to the world the execution of Raʾīs Fazareche. His crimes are not expected to be broadcast, though the word 'treachery' was uttered a few times, and the Emir has apparently decided that the method of death will be via stoning before being hanged in a public display much like before the Reformation Act in 1954. Faron Fazareche was a wealthy boy with a privileged upbringing coming nearly as close to royalty as Sharif Richhiel. Following the general confusion as to why he was not named Sharif of Gille and appointed to the Sharifate left, the Gillish people were in shock that they were being temporarily stewarded by Sharif Barness. We will be broadcasting the execution as and when it is set to occur. Fazareche Replacement already! Following the announcement of Raʾīs Fazareche's execution, rather mysteriously, the Royal Vizier went on to name the successor and ruler of the Emirate of Gille. Lalla Maramya al'Waaz, a noble lady and wife of the Lord Raʾīs Abdallah has been personally appointed as Her Sharifa of Gille Emirati. She has been an avid follower of Emir Karsim and Lord Abdallah was one of the wealthy people to back the Emir when he was a Governor running for Viceroy of Eyre Mercatus. But even more astonishing is the fact that Sharifa Maramya will be the first female political ruler in Amcin history! The Sharifate will release a statement soon to publicly congratulate her on achieving such a momentous and unprecedented status. We rejoice with the Amcin people at the death of an alleged traitor to our glorious Emir and the appointment of a monumental woman to sit with the Royal Sharifs.

Emir in struggle over Fazareche issue International pressure is mounting on Emir Karsim after opposition to his execution plans Both the First Empire of Rokkenjima and the Kingdom of Dartfordia have spoken out against the Emir's announcement of Ex-Viceroy Faron Fazareche's execution via public stoning and hanging. There has been no official response from the government and the Emir remains silent in response to these powerful voices of opposition. Dartfordia has taken one step further, threatening to impose sanctions against the Emirates unless evidence is provided. The crime has never been announced and it is confirmed that a trial may have taken place in secret. Emir Karsim is put under pressure as nations question his decision Public support is, generally, rallying behind the Emir, with crowds gathering in the streets and throwing stones at effigies of the disgraced young noble - a grim yet just example of what may be to come. Flags conveying messages of insult to both Rokkenjima and Dartfordia have been flying in the streets also, it seems as though the majority of Amcin people do not respect the opinions of other nations when coming to internal affairs. Many describe the powerful nations as "interfering" and "a soft touch". The Empress of Rokkenjima has hinted that she is open to communication, and many speculate that she and the Emir are discussing the matter in private. As of yet, the execution is only a few days away and no change has been made to this yet. We'll keep you updated on this issue at all times. |

Emir and Empress revealed to be in conversation 'Karsim and Anselmo are discussing Fazareche execution in private' sources confirm The Emir has been revealed to be discussing the matters regarding the execution of the alleged traitor Faron Fazareche with the Empress of Rokkenjima. Beatrice Anselmo communicated to the Emir that she was open for discussion and it seems that he has been seemingly all-too-eager to jump on board with the Empress. Their conversation, which is ongoing, is entirely private. Many of the Emir's more traditional supporters praised him for bringing Rokkenjima into the UAE's sphere, even if the issue was extremely undesirable. However, the noble classes in the conservative air of society hailed him as taking a dangerous step towards surrendering national tradition and culture under international pressure. One of the Emir's closest associates, Lord al'Adda-im said that 'if the Emir jumps into bed with the Empress then the UAE will wake up with a Rokkenjiman new-order knocking on the door.' The Emir has finally come out and released this statement - 'I am absolutely committed to finding a suitable platform to engage with the Empress and her nation. I respect her immensely and whilst I am not in agreement with much of her views and the general direction of the First Empire, I see no reason as to why we cannot focus our efforts on working together to create a better future for all involved. I am not a soft touch, and will not give way easily unless a suitable compromise is reached. Please understand that I do not wish to kill one of my best friends, but until the Empress and I are happy with a resolution, it is looking as though this will be an occurrence. I am postponing the execution until we reach a conclusion to these discussions.' The Amcin people now have their eyes on Beatrice Anselmo, who will be frantically trying to urge information out of the Emir to release to the public. |

Corporation Tax to be Slashed Government announces new tax policy on big business ![]() The Royal Office has announced that the UAE will virtually scrap corporation tax for many large companies and enterprises. The tax rate is currently 12% maximum and the new proposals will put it at 5% - the new maximum that is. For many corporations who have shown devotion to the government and a willingness to assist the Amcin people, such as the East Isis Trading Company and Stahl Arms, the rate is 1% if not 0%. An economics spokesman stated that 'well established corporations which have become successful and ingrained into our culture are an invaluable asset. Therefore we will not be asking them to pay tax in this country.' The urge for foreign investment is not a huge one, as the low tax barriers have been naturally attractive for businesses regardless, but the new proposals are now looking to attract a wider range of foreign investment into the inner-city hub of Modinna. When asked where the extra money would come from, the spokesman said this: 'we are a rising economy in many ways and the wealth creation is limitless. With no public sector or social welfare to redistribute money into, we have never needed vast sums of money for expenditure. The move will create more competition, strengthen our markets and provide jobs for thousands.' Critics have said that it is another move for the government to tie itself further with corrupt businesses. Socialist Movement spokeswoman Adiin Mayamma said that 'the corporatist elite have sold us out again. They only care about their friends and themselves, the rich and the powerful.' The policy is not a short term one, and is forecast to remain in place for many years to come. The Sharif for Arlestyne and the Royal Sheikh Eduard Lyonne said that 'we have always regarded ourselves as friends of business and as a nation, being described as a 'tax haven' would, for me anyway, do us just fine. 'The level of anti-business and anti-wealth creation amongst our critics is astounding. These are people who would happily carpet bomb our economy back into the Dark Ages! Their objections are laughable. We are not corporatists at all but large endorsers of enterprise and innovation. Imagine if you were a business owner who wouldn't have to pay any tax because of your devotion and love of Amcinia." There have been hints that the numbers and top rates of tax may be subject to change but anything above 8.5% has been ruled out. The policy for income tax still remains at 15% but the spokesman stated that: 'if this policy proves as successful as we predict it to, then we could be entering a new era of big tax breaks. Out potential is very high at the moment.' |

Controversy Over Moreland Arrest An East Moreland Woman has been fined and arrested over her clothing ![]() A woman from East Moreland is in Sharjah Police custody after being arrested earlier today for having her shoulders and ankles revealed in a town square. Bethany Reynold, 28, is a citizen of East Moreland who has lived in the Isis Emirate for little over two months. Upon her arrest, she was issued with a fine of C1050j, which she has yet to pay. She is currently facing judicial action and may have to spend time in a Penal Institution in Abu Jama. The sentence will not be more than a couple of months and will be substantially reduced if the fine is paid. Ms Reynold is reported to have been wearing a white tank top and denim shorts in the entrance to a large bazaar. Complaints of shock and disbelief were reported as the young woman strode about with her shoulders and legs out for all to see. The law is very simple in the UAE: Women must cover their shoulders and ankles in certain public areas. Beaches and holiday resorts as well as private dinners and other such affairs are tolerated but in a marketplace or on the street there is a zero-tolerance policy. The Faith of Āzar is clear that modesty and conservative mannerisms are amongst the most important features of a woman's character and must be reflected through her appearance. Amzaar: Book 12, Chapter 2 states that: 'there is no shame with which a woman can endure more so than with herself open to the world's evils, lest she turn to darkness.' It is a controversial law and tradition which many around the world view as ancient and barbaric as well as demeaning to women. For the Amcin people, it represents respect and modesty. As Ms Reynold has broken the law, she will be subject to trial in two days in Sharjah's Criminal Affairs Court unless she is able to pay the substantial fine. |

Religious Fervour on the Rise Zealous Āzarati increasing massively amongst religious communities ![]() The Faith of Āzar is the primary, and virtually only, religion in the UAE. It is a religion which spans thousands of years and was, until a few decades ago, the primary form of government in the Amcin lifestyle. A recent poll has shown that since the reformation of the CAS into the UAE, the number of Amcin who have adopted the Faith rose by 3%, making the religion followed by 90% of the populace. More significantly however is that the number of Amcin who responded to the nation-wide poll who stated that they are much more zealous and dogmatic in their following of Āzar had risen by over 70%. The religion is very strict and the devotion to the teachings of the Prophet Amzaar is higher than ever. The Sayyid, holy descendant of Amzaar, Alen Mulimaahs said that: "We are an Āzari nation who follow the rules and laws of the Prophet. I am glad to see that many have awoken the burning fire of our Faith in their hearts. It is a righteous and honoured existence to be a follower of the religion. Currently, the Faith is heavily scrutinised by foreign critics as a political force which affects the governing of the people. The monopoly of the Faith in the Emirates is an example of the lack of capacity for religious freedoms, some say. The biggest criticism by far is the level of oppression which the Faith puts on women. It dictates their role in life is the maintainer of the private home life and discourages them to obtain jobs in favour of bringing up children. They are told what they are able to wear in public and arranged marriages, though not as popular today, still remain commonplace - especially in the East. The Sharifate has admitted that the strive to unite Amcin people under the Faith is one of its primary objectives and stated that it "would not be unusual for the Faith to be a prominent voice in the governing of the nation." Recent controversy has been sparked after an East Moreland citizen was arrested by Isisian police over her outrageous and disrespectful attire. The Sharif for Isis, Prince Louess Richhiel said that "I am disappointed at [Ms Reynold's] disregard for local customs. After living here for such a significant amount of time you would have thought it would be clear by now. I do not want her to face time in an Institution and would hope that she can pay the fine. It does not bode well for our desires to repair damaged relations with East Moreland." The Police Official responsible for overseeing the proceedings regarding Ms Reynold stated that "it is a universal law. Amzaar teaches modesty and conservatism for women and it applies to Morelander, Rokkenjiman and Amcin. They are all treated in the same manner and you cannot be surprised that if you break the law, you have to pay for it." Radical Clerics as high as a Kirjastinian Lord have pushed for a more traditional punishment for such offences as inappropriate dress and adultery. Some advocate lashings and others stoning. The Sharifate has not commented on this but it is suspected that they will dismiss these demands as extreme and fundamentalist. ![]() A Maddiq overcrowded with Āzarati worshippers |

A Memorable First Impression The Imperial Couple have made a provocative start to official discussions It was supposed to be a warm and promising start to the long awaited talks between the UAE and the Fist Empire as well as Dartfordia. The Emir was to receive the Emperor, Empress, and the Dartfordian Prime Minister Harold Saxon with a warm embrace knowing full well that he would be facing substantial flak from the world leaders. Well, the sort of flak that he was expecting was something of a diplomatic type. However, what he was treated to, accompanied by Her Sharifa al'Waaz and Sayyid-Sharif Mulimaahs, was a spectacle of complete disrespect and derision for Amcin people everywhere. ![]() Upon emerging from the plane, the Empress had clearly shown no intention of adhering to the Amcin Modesty Regulation which states that women should be covered in general public places - an airport being one of them. Garbed in a questionably short skirt and long stockings of some sort, she seemed to show no remorse for the disregard of laws and customs. It is clear that the Empress is avowedly opposed to the culture of the Amcin people and abhors the traditions which we hold so dear to our hearts, and she has chosen to blindly show her protest via the flaunting of her milky-white thighs for all to see. As a paragon of supposed respect and tolerance, it appears that the Empress' true colours are showing, in more ways than one! The Amcin people should be ashamed of the Rokkenjiman leader and the Lord Hidal Fialis has called for her arrest, something which the Emir would naturally never consider. It is not just the Empress however who has so willingly and confidently nettled the UAE. The Emperor of Rokkenjima, Alexander Anselmo, has played a calculated and intolerable jest on the Emir by presenting him, amongst the other genuine gifts from the Prime Minister and Empress, a pair of extremely short denim shorts, an ode to the Bethany Reynold case. Worse still, it was presented to Her Sharifa al'Waaz, a sign of complete disregard for a woman's decency and status of dress. We mourn the sad and pathetic acts of childish japes and slutty appearances thus far by two of the most prominent and 'revered' individuals in the world. Already people cry 'whore' and 'traitor' with the people rallying in major cities to protest the vulgar acts. The Emir naturally played it off with a laugh and a shrug, though no comment has been made from the Royal Office. Meanwhile, Faith officials call for retribution and punishment for the ignorance and hatred expressed towards the Amcin people, women especially. We have little comprehension as to how this will affect relations between the UAE and the First Empire and Dartfordia, but we will keep you updated on this issue when we hear more. For now, the visitors are settled within the walls of the Political Quarter and extra security has been placed around the acres of perimeter. |

Sheikh Fires Back at King Royal Sheikh Eduard Lyonne scorns East Moreland and King David in exclusive interview with the DE ![]() Following the recent comments made by King David Ironside of East Moreland, the Daily Emirate has been granted an exclusive interview with the Royal Sheikh and Sharif of Arlestyne Eduard Lyonne. The interview is as follows: Interviewer: "So how do you feel about these comments from East Moreland?" Lyonne: "Not just East Moreland, but the King himself! I mean -- come on it's a bit outdated now, isn't it? I know that everyone in the Emirates is sick to death of hearing these pathetic whines about the Illumic. You've got to hand it to them, they [Morelanders] know how to hold a grudge. It shows the sort of possessive, militaristic side that they try to keep suppressed. "Ooh, these people telling us where to go in our backyard blah blah blah..." I mean really? The way they cradle the Illumic you'd have thought it was their child, wouldn't you?" Interviewer: "Sorry to interrupt, but do you really think that it was right of us, despite their wild obsession with it, to intervene there in the first place?" Lyonne: "Absolutely! We had a military agreement and we stuck to it. It was, in the end, misguided and foolish, but never say that we are not people of honour and keeping our word." Interviewer: "So why then, if it was a diplomatic and honourable intervention, do East Moreland revile us as wicked for doing this?" Lyonne: "Because they are so immensely conceited. Their goal, I think, is to control the Illumic for themselves. I can't imagine why our message was so badly received! I admit, I went absolutely insane at the Continental Officer when I heard the news, but in hindsight I can't see what was wrong with it! In a nutshell it was: "Hey, East Moreland! Because we're on quit good terms we wouldn't want there to be any potential damage caused to your vessels in this area because...you know...we're fighting a war there!" We weren't telling them "where to go". For all I care they could have sailed in front of the Armada but it was a caution that there was the risk of something going wrong!" Interviewer: "Right, except you did caution them to steer clear, though. That is telling them, as they put it, "where to go."" Lyonne: "No -- no it isn't. It's a warzone! Someone may get hit! I mean for the sake of the Prophet it's a stretch of water! The King and his family need to grow up a bit and realise their own hypocrisy! Regent Freya Ironside threatened to blow our ships to pieces if we didn't leave their shores! We were telling them that we didn't want to blow them to pieces, but their aggressive nature is showing...the mask is slipping, East Moreland, and the Amcin people grow tired of your whining and pathetic grudge holding." Interviewer: "Okay, let's leave it there and move on to another topic if I may." Lyonne: "Sure." Interviewer: "The Empress has landed." Lyonne: "She most certainly has, and I see you've made little delay in publishing your articles on it." Interviewer: "Can you blame us? It's shocking behaviour! They've broken the law. Why are they not in prison?" Lyonne: "Because I don't want to get bombed." Interviewer: "It seems like a cowardly move, arresting Beth Reynold but not Beatrice Anselmo. Ironside's right there -- it's hypocrisy." Lyonne: "Miss Reynold has been living her for two months, never before has she been flagged up for indecent dress but all of a sudden she does it. I want to know why but what is for certain is that her time in prison is only three weeks, that's the most likely outcome. Beatrice Anselmo is sending us a message here and the Emir wants to see diplomacy and attempt to reason with her regarding the Modesty Regulations. I'm sure there will be fruitful outcomes from these talks, despite their insults." Interviewer: "But they have insulted us, that's the point here." Lyonne: "Yes, and I resent it. We can only hope to reach an understanding. Let's not joke around for one second. They are two of the richest, most powerful countries in the world. I resent their regimes and progressive, domineering attitudes but it would be pragmatic to open up trade and cooperation. Don't be fooled, we want trade and friendship, but not assimilation and the abolition of our heritage." Interviewer: "Zachachevania agrees with us." Lyonne: "So? They are so anti-Rokkenjima it isn't even funny. We condemn a lot of what their regime has done but we admire their courage to oppose the First Empire despite the overwhelming adversarial force pressed against them. It may be misguided but it is brave." Interviewer: "Where do you see us in 50 years?" Lyonne: "A big player on the world stage, I have no doubt of that." Interviewer: "Sheikh-Sharif Lyonne, thank you very much." Lyonne: "Thank you, it's been a pleasure." |

Education Reform? Rumours begin to stir that new reforms regarding issues such as 'Gender' and 'Class' are being reviewed in the education system ![]() A source has been able to provide information that the Sharifate is considering changing the laws in schools on social and curricular issues. A Royal Correspondent noted that issues such as the separation of boys and girls in schools as well as the disadvantages placed on girls through cultural deterrences to be educated at all were raised at the last sitting. The Amcin education system is currently quite varied depending on which Emirate a child is educated in. The rules surrounding gender in schools has apparently been raised by Her Sharifa Al-Waaz and Sharif Richhiel. The law forbids girls attending the same schools as boys and there is less encouragement for girls to go to school at all. It is the societal belief that the girls should remain at home and focus on a more domestic education ready for a life in the 'real world' as noted by a senior cleric. New rules would put in place campaigns to make mixed schools an option as well as encourage families to send their young girls to school. Currently 74% of students aged 4-18 are boys whilst the other 26% are girls. The government has apparently said that it should not be 50-50 but that increased opportunity is paramount. Another supposed policy review is that of the 'Amcin Merit Laws' which were scrapped in 1995 under the CAS Education Reform. The system awarded bright youngsters from poor underprivileged backgrounds to be admitted into a top institution from a young age for free. Since families must pay for their children to attend school, the poor children are often left without a proper education. The scheme made social mobility via scholarships and free-entries a vital factor in Amcin society. The new legislation would apparently give each child who lives in a household below a certain wage bracket the opportunity to access tutoring and then sit entry exams to gain free access to several of the top schools in the country. Let us bear in mind that our Emir benefited from such a system before it was abolished, allowing him access to the most prestigious 'Ophelia Education'. The only reform that our source was confident about was the policies regarding compulsory Amcin Studies and a much stricter emphasis on an Āzarati education, instilling religious teachings and values in every class and every institution. Corporal punishment was not discussed and remains very prevalent in the system and a new policy was to have every school bear the flag of the UAE and its respective Emirate in a show of pride to the young people of the nation was passed. None of this is set in stone apart from the more religiously-imposed curriculum and the banner proposition but many remain hopeful that the gender and class issues will become resolved as a result of the concerns raised on the Sharifate. |

Breaking News! Riots in Kinslaak Masses of rioters clash with Military Police over shooting ![]() A young Gillish gang member named as Abba Digani was beaten mercilessly before being shot after a small skirmish between his gang and a patrol of armed officers in the Gillish capital of Kinslaak. Digani, aged 19, was a member of one of the many gangs which infest the city and had reportedly been, along with many of his friends, asked to move along from an alleyway where the patrol had been informed of 'suspicious behaviour.' Digani and his friends had repeatedly refused to listen to the squad members and began using hostile language. One witness said that Digani pulled out a knife on the officer and as a consequence was taken down and beaten with batons by the squad leader and another officer. The other gang members began to retaliate but were beaten off by the officers and managed to make an escape. ![]() Digani had managed to set his knife on a young officer as he tried to pull the broken youngster to his feet, having apparently not been disarmed. The squad leader, Warrant Officer Isim al'daak, reportedly pulled out his firearm and shot Digani twice before tending to his wounded officer. Within a few hours, there amassed a riot of unbelievable proportions with armies of young people looting and ransacking the streets, even attacking innocent citizens who fled for shelter. The Commandant of the Gillish Military Police issued a stage 5 warning and closed down the city. Over 1000 armed officers were deployed to tackle the crowd which was growing into its thousands. Many of these rioters were gang members who were affiliated with Digani or the gang that he belonged to. It provided also an excuse for rival gangs to cause mayhem and act out their fiendish fantasies of destruction and anarchy. ![]() The Military Police managed to keep the riots from spreading and the officials introduced an order for people to stay off the streets at their own expense. The clashes were brutal and it is reported that 15 officers are dead and around three times that are injured. The number of dead or injured rioters is unknown but is estimated to be extremely costly. The permission of live rounds was granted and tear gas was implemented in vast quantities. One witness describes the skirmishes amidst clouds of gas and burning vehicles as a war zone without limit or mercy. This week, Her Sharifa of Gille Emirati is expected to deliver a speech condemning the riots. ![]() There has been a great problem and increase in the presence of gangs mainly comprised of young people in the big cities of Gille, many resorting to crimes of the highest order such as murder, rape and the burning of Holy Scriptures. The Minister for Justice said that it was 'high time something was done about this. I am drafting orders as we speak to ensure that we can forcefully weed out this scourge and put it to rest. Gang culture knows only violence and we are losing the fight by using highly paid social workers. Violence is how they will be kept in line.' The Emir gave his comments live from the palace, saying 'it was a brutal and bloody affair and none of us will come out of it changed for the better. I can only give my sympathies to the families and friends of those who have lost their lives. We will eliminate gang culture and, though costly in the short term, will ensure a better future for us all. I have grown up in fear of gangs, having to trek through these neighbourhoods on my way to school as a young child. This is not new to us, but these measures will be. For the sake of the Amcin people I will do everything I must to make sure nothing like this happens again.' Social workers have spoken out against this, saying that they are stoking the fires and fuelling more hatred and violence which will spread across all six Emirates. We can only wait and see. |

Her Sharifa Gives Speech on Riots New anti-gang policy of Affirmative Action announced ![]() Her Sharifa of Gille Emirati Maramya al'Waaz delivered a speech earlier today in light of the dramatic riot in the Gillish capital of Kinslaak. Her Sharifa has taken full responsibility for the actions of the authorities and says that it was her final decision to permit the use of live rounds against rioters. "My Amcin brothers and sisters, particularly those of Gille and Kinslaak itself. What we saw so recently in my home city was unimaginable. It was an affront to our way of life and to all those who follow the teachings of Amzaar and abide by the Faith. It was a disgrace to which I feel utter shame and embarrassment and I hope to amend for the chaos caused under my guardianship. "We have a problem. Gang culture is something which thousands partake in inside this city alone. It is the vermin who reside in the impoverished ghettos through to the luxury villas. It is in our veins and must be drained out. These are not 'misguided' and 'let down' people. They are criminals who exercise their unholy and extremely Kaamin savagery through violence, unrest and every illegal practise under our sun. We will show them that they cannot stand so tall in reality. Our armed police will beat their pride into humility. "The damage caused by the greed and vicious nature of these scourges will not go unavenged! As of now, in consultation with our High Minister for Justice, we are launching a new policy called the Affirmative Action Plan. The Armoured Police Division is going to sweep the streets until we find any and all who are affiliated with this vile practise of gang culture. We are taking the fight to you! Road by road, house by house, we will find you! We will profile you, monitor you and, with sufficient evidence, arrest you! Be warned, if you continue to participate in gang activity, the consequences will be dire." A short speech, but one which gets the point accross, don't you think? For many, it was a speech of fear-espousing and violent incitement. The plans are to be outlined and broadcast in the next few days. Most thought that Her Sharifa would be the voice of compassion and tolerance on the Sharifate, it appears to be quite the opposite. ![]() Citizen life in Kinslaak will become much more different as Police take over city during Affirmative Action procedures |

Female Pilot Takes Flight! Air Theatre Awards Rank of Major to Female Hot-Shot A very skilled and experienced pilot in the Amcin Air Theatre has been awarded the rank of Major after years of rising through the ranks. The new Major Amiyya al'Mansoor (29) has been recognised as one of the most valuable female members of the Theatre, proving not only her capabilities as a pilot but also as a tactician and innovative thinker. Her skills were recognised a year into her recruitment seven years ago, aged 19, when an A.A.T overseer noted her special knack for simulator control and offered her a place on an advanced training programme. al'Mansoor was the first woman to ever achieve this. The course is one of the most intense in the Amcin Military and despite that, she came out with a pass score of 92% - the fourteenth highest out of the fifty cadets. She has flown ten operations as part of routine military flights and has earned the respect of all those around her. After coming in the top twenty in the Advanced Pilot Programme, she was offered an invitation to become an officer which she gladly accepted. From there Amiyya has worked her way through the ranks, commanding her own squadron for two years. Having become the first female officer in the Air Theatre, she has exceeded all expectations and is now one of the most respected commanding officers and despite the odds, has consistently failed to disappoint. "Many people want to know if I was and still am discriminated against -- you know -- for being a woman. Well, yes. I was. But not much more than any other new recruit. I was eighteen when I was recruited and was seen as a bit of an enigma. But it's different in the military. You hold strong bonds and deep ties with your comrades. If you've got the guts and determination to make it, your gender does not matter. I am proud to have become a Major and will continue to serve my country and my fellow Amcin people." The Major is expected to attend a ceremonial evening at the Emir's Palace where she will meet and discuss with Emir Karsim and Officials a broad range of issues, formal and informal.

Affirmative to Affirmative Action City-Wide Police Operation Under Way in Full Effect ![]() The Police Operation, named 'Affirmative Action', has finally been enacted today as both the Tactical Armed Officers and the Gillish Control Force were deployed in overwhelming numbers all across the Gillish capital of Kinslaak. All Gillish citizens in the city were issued with the information and had 48 hours notice before the operation was put into effect. Citizens were instructed to open their doors to the officers so that they could apprehend any people affiliated with gang activity, or search for any evidence which would aid their crusade against the oppressing gang culture. If the officers were met with refusal from properties where intelligence identified strong gang links then they had been given permission to force their entry. Citizens were advised that if they had nothing to hide or conceal then the inspection would be quick and without mishap. The city was cordoned off by police to ensure that as few criminals as possible could leave the city. Virtually every property is expected to be checked, with intelligence profiles proving helpful in the apprehension of gang members across the city. Extra guards were placed around the Estate of Her Sharifa and several police HQs in order to protect the most important figures in the operation. The Gillish Control Force, nicknamed 'whiteheads' took to the streets in force to keep away any more rioters and confront those who would want to cause trouble after trying to flee their homes. Again, live rounds were authorised for the most serious of situations, with pepper spray and tear gas used in substantial amounts. The Tactical Armed Officers assisted the Warrant Officers in charge of inspecting and occasionally raiding homes. ![]() There has been public outrage at the use of police force to invade their personal property and lives, but their concerns have been dismissed by High Command as, 'selfish' and 'misunderstanding'. The Police have said that there can no longer be a soft touch on this issue because, as they say, that is why the gang problem is as bad as it is. They claim that this approach bypasses the 'useless' process of being politically correct and is a clear example of head versus heart. 'Emotion on whether this is mean or not' one official stated 'is irrelevant. Every citizen must cooperate to ensure that their communities and lives are improved with immediate effect. If that means allowing an officer into their home, then it is very Amcin of them to comply.' ![]() Protests have broken out in other cities as this has created a well predicted knock on effect. Luckily police units have been on standby for this and have isolated the protests before they could get out of hand. A shocking statistic from the Royal Office of Demographics states that 78% of all gang activity is caused by young Kaamin people, sparking even more prejudice for the travelling people. Pro-Kaamin groups say that it is a made up figure used to stir up hatred by the government. So far the strategy is proving effective with gang members being arrested and torn from their homes and families and cast into detention centres. Each will receive a trial in the Royal Gillish Court before a jury. Along with the gang members themselves, police have apprehended a large amount of drugs and other illegal items. Many citizens have been found guilty of harbouring and hiding gang members and covering up their operations. These households have been pinpointed and ransacked by police before the arrests were made. The UAE has a strict Zero-Tolerance policy on crime, and until now, gang activity was left to the social services. New legislation would bring it into the criminal sphere and certain social workers, many former gang members, are being arrested and charged for affiliation and compliance with gang culture. So far, the innocent in the city have been unmolested and their homes free from damage as many feel it is only right to comply with the law to bring about an end to this corruption within our society. We'll keep you up to date on this issue as it unfolds. |

Sharif's son named Prince Emir names Royal Sheikh's son 'Prince of Arle' The Royal Sheikh Eduard Lyonne and his wife Kiennie have today received a surprising and jubilant visit from their close friend Emir Karsim on their son's first birthday. Azam al-Adaad Lyonne, whose first birthday is today, was greeted by his 'Uncle' Jeziel today at the Sheikh's home in Outer-Saffrea, Arlestyne. Aside from the lavish and expensive presents bestowed unto the little Azam, the Emir saved his best gift for last. Handing over a parchment with the Emir's personal seal stamped onto it, Sheikh-Sharif Lyonne could never have imagined what it would have said. Handwritten by Karsim himself, it read that by decree of his Emir of the Amcin People that Azam al-Adaad Lyonne of Eduard and Kiennie is to be named Prince of Arle, thereby asserting the one year old as a true member of the royal classes. Currently there are only twelve 'True-Royals', the Emir and Sharif Richhiel the only two in the government. The Emir gave this statement outside the Lyonne residence: "Eduard and Kiennie are like my brother and sister, we are a closely knit group of people, politics aside. What we have to remember is that the little ones like Azam are our future. Also, considering what Eduard has done for me since I've known him, I think it only right that his son be made a true royal figure." When asked about his own views surrounding the Emir's succession, he responded with a warm smile: "Well I evidently have no children of my own, but I am hopeful that I remain Emir for many years to come yet. I guess we'll know closer to the time." Sheikh-Sharif Lyonne and his wife Kiennie posed on their balcony for pictures with the newly crowned Prince Azam of Arle. Afterwards, the proud father said this: "My title is royal, but only ceremoniously. To have my son decreed a Prince means that the Lyonne name will carry on alongside the Richhiels and Karsims. I could not be prouder nor happier. I don't think my wife and I will ever be able to come to terms." Lyonne was asked if he felt bitter that the Emir had not named him a Prince, and his reply was: "No, not at all. Jeziel named me Sheikh which in effect is second only to the Emir himself. I want to do everything I can to raise my son to become a leading figure in our strive for Amcinia. A Princedom is something I could never have provided him with. He loves his uncle Jeziel and when he's older it will be his royalty rather than stupid faces and silly noises that makes him adore our Emir. "He's great with kids, you know. And even I am wondering if he'll ever have any at this rate. Hell, technically I'm the heir to the throne. But you can't rush these things, I was lucky with Kiennie." |

Terrorist Strike Kills Dozens Sorority take responsibility for violent attack in Blymidis ![]() It is a day of great mourning as the Amcin people bear witness to one of the most heinous acts committed in recent history. At 3:24pm yesterday, the Afijid Bazaar in the Blymidian capital of Aba Daani was victim to a brutal car bombing which decimated virtually the entire market, killing around 52 people, 44 Amcin, and injuring 31. As emergency personnel arrived on the scene to begin their work clearing the area and aiding the wounded, the market was victim to a further, more grisly attack. A gas attack, believed to have been caused by a hijacked paramedic ambulance, spread viciously through the ruination, killing emergency personnel and civilians alike. Even more morbidly was that the poor victims, many writhing and choking from the gas, were ripped apart by a lethal shrapnel-like explosion which shredded whatever was left from the bombing. It is thought that over 100 people were killed, 25 foreign nationals. What was a peaceful and vibrant afternoon in one of the oldest bazaars in the country had turned into a bloodbath of decimation and slaughter. The vile terrorist organisation, known as the Sorority of Materna, have claimed full responsibility for the attack. Justifying their deplorable actions by falsely blaming the government for alleged abuse and relegation of women in Amcin society, the organisation seems content to slaughter women as keenly as men to prove their fictitious and fanatical point. Many have called for immediate retaliation in response to the affront, campaigners wishing for full military action against the terrorists. Nothing has been decided but the government, headed up by Emir Karsim, are reviewing their options. In a speech, the Emir stated:
It appears that military action is inevitable, as it has been leaked that the Royal Amcin Air Theatre has begun routine flights and is preparing its craft for launch and combat. Whether or not this is merely a precaution remains to be seen. ![]() Stand strong, all of us, and we will defeat this enemy. Salaam Amcinia. |

(OOC: A bit delayed but assume it is timely) Sorority Invasion! Terrorists cross into Amcin territory and attack settlements! It was not anticipated that the Sorority of Materna would conduct such an operation as moving units across the border from Barrej to Arlestyne, however it happened. The remote landscape to the south of the Emirate bordering Odmony, known as the Sau Siddan Plains, saw the self proclaimed Matriarchy of Barrej's forces overrun the border and assault two towns just miles into the Sau Siddan. The Arlestynian Defence Force has limited activity in the area and so it was an easy target for the terrorists. One town was left in ruins with hundreds killed and injured whilst the second was only partly-damaged. Relief crews are being sent along with the ADF to ensure that the wounded and homeless could be cared for properly. It is reported that around thirty Arlestynians, all women, have been kidnapped and taken over the border. It is clear that there will be continued attacks such as this one unless action is taken. ![]() It was a lightning strike of an attack, a hit and run with the intention to show that the UAE is unsafe from within and without. Already domestic policies have been put in place to ensure that any infiltrations are met with dire consequences. Martial law has been given the green light in many areas where the military is using its intelligence to root out any Sorority terrorists or sympathisers. It has been leaked that the Royal Office will plead with the government of Odmony to form a military pact in order to counteract the corruption in Barrej. The part that the UAE will also play in the CTOMM under the leadership of Rokkenjima to contribute the end of the Sorority in Marseilles is also being reviewed. The Emir will particularly be looking for support from members of the Odminian Āzarati Moral Alliance to aid in supporting the case for Amcin troops to cross into Barrej to occupy the region in order to quell the Matriarchy. ![]() It has already been planned that the soldiers of the ADF (pictured above) will act as a temporary military presence should an occupation be granted. The Faith of Āzar is calling this a religious issue of great urgency and high Faith officials are calling for a crusade against the Sorority in the name of the Prophet. More of this story as time continues. |

Emirates Quiet on Refugee Crisis Amcin Royal Office seemingly unprepared to take in refugees By Afeem Diyawa - Activist for the Amcin Socialist Collective The war in Marseilles has seen bloody conflict on all sides unfold and it has been particularly devastating for the civilian population of the nation. En masse, civilians have fled the country hoping to escape the war and find protection and solidarity in other nations. Thus far, there have been many appeals and contributions made by world nations to take in refugees and make sure that they are looked after and cared for. However, the elite of the UAE have stood by as thousands flee across the continent to find refuge and peace and have done nothing. It is believed that current plans are to not adopt a single refugee, as has been the case when Amcin Border Police fought off groups of struggling, desperate refugees at the Sidan Crossing, the main southern entrance into the country. Our findings have shown that there has been a large increase of troops on the southern borders of the country to turn the strands of refugees who filter towards the top of the continent. Though no official statement has been given by the Royal Office, it is quite clear that our 'esteemed' and 'loving' rulers do not care for the lives of the desperate innocent forced from their homes by gruesome conflict. For a nation that seemingly boasts a fair amount of wealth, it is ludicrous to suggest that we cannot take in and house thousands, if not tens of thousands of these poor, frightened people. Instead, our ruling class seems content to watch as more people die and risk their lives to find safe haven in other nations. Many media outlets in the country as well as commentators and activists are demanding to know why the Sharifate has condemned these people to prolonged suffering instead of helping them in the proper humanitarian values that we hold dear. This is another example of the cruel and uncaring vision that our ruling elite have for our nation and it moves me to tears that people would risk everything to reach our country only to be turned away by police under threat of injury or worse. Civilians from Barrej have been coming in such high numbers as a direct result of Amcin military action in the region and it is our duty to look after those whose lives we have ruined. I am sick to my stomach of the oligarchy which cares not for the common man and woman and would leave children dead at their feet. It is time for revolutionary change and the ASC will be at the forefront of campaigning for humanity and love in this dreadful and horrific crisis.

Village to be Destroyed for Oil Thousands ordered to leave homes as new oil deposits discovered A small village two miles into the Al-Nefat desert is to be demolished as it is replaced by a new oil refinery after officials, tasked with locating new deposits in the area, confirmed that a vast deposit lay underneath the sands. The village, home to around a thousand rural citizens, is said to be positioned near the centre of the proposed refining area, and as such it must be removed to allow for excavating to begin. The village was approached weeks earlier with a substantial offer of rehousing and financial compensation but the leaders refused to co-operate, apparently suggesting that their lives and homes could not be bought. It is unknown whether it was the Kemaal Oil Ltd. or the government who approached the village. No further action was taken until early yesterday morning when a vast convoy of vehicles from Kemaal Oil Ltd. were seen driving to the site. A spokesperson from the company said that they had been given permission to proceed with the operation. ![]() Since oil and petroleum are such linchpins to the country's economy, as well as natural gas and financial services, officials stated that every opportunity must be taken to ensure that the UAE remains a significant player in the world commodity and energy markets. The size of the deposit has not yet been fully estimated, but it has been told that it could yield a 70% recovery factor, thus highlighting its significance. There has been no apparent plans for the villagers in terms of relocation and it is assumed that they will be forcibly removed so that extraction can proceed. A government official implied that the villagers would be looked after but did not give any details. ![]() There are hundreds of small settlements around the borders of the Al-Nefat, those who live much simpler, traditional lives. No doubt there may be more incidents like this as the expansion into the area intensifies to increase petroleum exports. |
