At long last, I've finally succumbed to the combined pressure of my sisters and my curiosity. I have watched Disney's Frozen for the first time. My reaction? This movie is SO overrated. Of course, I knew going in that there was absolutely no way it could live up to its hype, but there you go. I mean, yes, it is a good movie. In fact, I'd say it's even one of Disney's better ones. But it is quite certainly NOT their best. I would put it up with Beauty and the Beast, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and The Little Mermaid. However, it is easily outdone by others such as The Lion King, Wreck-It Ralph, and Dumbo.

Anyway, to the point. Y'all are a bunch of Disney-movie-watchers like myself (lookin' at you, CGJ). So, my all-time favorite film from Walt Disney Animation Studios is The Great Mouse Detective. Which one is yours?

I'd propose an additional option for those who don't have a direct preference. Each period has its own pros/cons, good and bad films...not to sit on the fence but err...None of the Above? :P

Also, I would actually agree Frozen is over-hyped, I just enjoy participating in the hype.

Darn it, I should have included that option. And the italics didn't work!

The Little Mermaid is overrated. Dumbo and The Fox and The Hound still make me cry. The original Fantasia was my favorite movie for a long time. I fan girl for Wreck-it Ralph. Beauty and the Beast paired with Aladdin made me vote the way I did, however. Lots to say but I'll end with, I hate The Little Mermaid by Disney.

True, The Little Mermaid IS rather overrated. Much like Frozen, in fact. It's better than some, easily surpassed by others, and overall stuck in the (rather large) mediocre middle, like most other Disney Princess films. And yet, it broke all records on release. If you like, you could see it as a "necessary evil" due to the fact that it launched the Disney Renaissance.
