We have a new term ahead of us. The following Senators have managed to keep their seats: DaveIronside Achkaerin Major_Thom Tytor Sekkanar Let us have an election for Speaker. Any nominations? DISCLAIMER: If you (1) are Dave or (2) have accepted a ministerial portfolio from him, you are disqualified from serving as Speaker. The new Speaker will be charged with appointing a deputy and adding two pieces of legislation and a treaty to "Passed Legislation" (sorry about my forgetfulness!) immediately upon masking. |

Tytor I was hoping you'd stay in the role of Speaker having done a top notch job through the last term.

I'd be happy to. But that really depends on the will of the rest of the Senate. By the way, how many of our Senators are in your cabinet this time around?

I'd also back Tytor to remain in post. As for senators doubling as ministers I'd make an educated guess it's three. |

Perhaps, Dave's approached me about becoming a junior minister though, so I'd like to get that sorted out first.

Junior Minister's aren't covered by the Constitution etc, there essentially going to be positions as like an assistant, its a bit experimental. I would personally say there would be no issue being a Junior Minister and a Deputy Speaker, if one of the roles becomes "Full Time" however it would mean resigning the other. At least that's how I view it. I hope everyone else is OK with that, if so I fully support Sekkanar being deputy speaker. |

This is a non-issue as it stands, the Deputy Speaker can be a minister- the only people barred are the Premier and Vice Premier. Therefore a junior minister can hold the position of Deputy Speaker. However a minister (and I would suggest Junior Ministers are included in this) are not permitted to hold the office of speaker. Either way I've got a constimendment in the works so I'll probably add this clarification to the one I'm drafting. |
