In a similar vein to the military, climate and world powers topics I thought it would be interesting to see what languages would be considered global. Naturally English would be a universal language, though what other languages do you feel would see a global reach?

Rokkenjiman would be a popular one. Though because of the predominance of English in practically every major economy (including Rokkenjima, South Hills, EM, Seaforth, Dartfordia and Achkaerin), individual languages like Rokkenjiman, Nordic, Aetermese, etc. would probably have a much more limited reach than, say, German or French does in the real world.

Historically, when the communist regime came into a power there was a lot of migration from Nueva Ardia, immigrants c=would have brought the Andean culture and language(Spanish). Though I'm not sure how far the migration spread, the size or influence it had quite yet, because of this migration the culture and language could be prevalent in various parts of the world.

The Federation's official language is Russian, and outside the major cities it is usually the only language spoken, with English having limited reach outside the capital. Thomradia mostly speaks Russian, but also some Gaelic in the south, due to its proximity to Dyfedia.

You must also look at how easy a language is to learn, i.e a person who is fluent in English is going to have an easier time learning German than say Mongolian. Also in Transvaal the national language would be Dutch (Transvaalian) and most people would be fluent in English based on proximity to other nations in the region.

I guess Spanish and German would be considered semi-global, since many smaller countries seem to have them. But the predominence of English is hard to neglect, to a point where learning any other language seems pointless.

Morelandish was a dying language a few years ago, however because of education policies it's making a resurgence but I'd find it unlikely anyone outside East Moreland would speak it.

Morelandish is the new Welsh.

Sovereigntyian is the natural language of Supreme Sovereignty, which is very similar to Russian, though like the other nations, English is dominant. A lot of the other national languages are known in SS too because our schools require everyone to learn at least one language from another nation in the Order.

There are only a small number of Tytorians who do not speak English, primarily either Floodwaterians (who sometimes speak an English-based creole) or recent immigrants; however, both groups often speak English already, which makes the issue rather moot.

Aside from English and Floodwaterian Creole, which are mutually intelligible with each other, there are also sizeable Rokkenjiman and Quinntopian expatriate communities in the larger cities, each of which tend to be bilingual, speaking both English and the traditional languages of their nations of origin. There are also a few scattered groups who still speak Old Tytoric, a Romance language with strong Germanic influences; Old Tytoric is the language of instruction at the Vigil Academy of Fine Arts.

While Sky Coast is host to many languages and their subsequent dialects, the people refer to several distinct tongues as native to this nation's provinces.

Popular Native Languages:
Gagana Fa'a Sāmoa
Nihongo
Uchinaaguchi

Other Native Languages:
Phasa Thai
Ryūkyū-goha
Shima Kutuba

Most Common Languages:
English (usually referred to as Common or the Common Tongue)
Español

Other Notable Languages:
Russky Yazyk
Deutsch
Filipino

The Sky Coast has no official language but the Latin Alphabet is used as often as possible. English and Spanish are the languages most often printed. English is considered the language of modern business and is therefore studied more often. According to Sky Coastians, if a language of theirs is spoken in another land, it is considered one of the many celebrated dialects.

I'm still a little unsure about where to go with my nation language-wise. While English to some extent is a given, I've been toying with the idea of some kind of Arabic-esque native language.
