The Countdown is on

Parliament now official dissolved means campaigning proper starts. Thought it would be nice to have a thread for people to discuss the campaigns, also inform those not in the UK of what's going on (If there interested)

I'll also be posting bits and pieces from the UK news here every now and again to inform those overseas of the in's and out's (if they care).

So bring on the ballot papers. My personal prediction at this point is some kind of minority government.

Definitely, definitely will be a Hung Parliament this year. Am hoping for a Labour-Lib Dem/Green/SNP coalition/supply and demand deal.

As far as I'm concerned this will be a hung Parliament and I'll be very surprised if Ed Miliband isn't Prime Minister when all is said and done.

So yeah I think Labour will get most seats but will probably work with the Lib Dems and Greens to get over the line. Do I think the SNP will be involved in any way whether coalition or support? Well I certainly hope not.

Agreed I really don't want the SNP in coalition or a supporting role.

Personally, I see a Labour-SNP coalition as the most likely outcome, since it sounds like the SNP will scoop what has in the past been Scottish Labour support north of the border.

Can't see the Lib Dems going the distance, even as a minor coalition partner, seeing as they've comprihensively alienated their main support base in students.

Greens might go in with Lab-SNP thing if needed, but might end up becoming the new Lib Dems.

Hey ho, let's see what happens.

Can't see Labour- SNP happening since Miliband's already said no to it and it'd be political stupidity to backtrack on it.

Anyway having watched the debate tonight or as I now like to think of it:

I can firmly say that not much was done to sway me one way or the other from my initial thoughts. As a Law graduate I make the issue of the relationship with Europe the greatest concern in this election, so I was pleasantly surprised by the common sense coming out of Leanne Wood (Plaid Cymru) leader when she proposed a method of conducting the referendum if it happens, a method I'd be willing to bet won't be employed.

Overall I hate to say it but I think Sturgeon and the SNP came out on top. However I'm also glad that six leaders were able to rip Nigel Farage's facade away.
