![]() GENSTATUM ANNOUNCES INTENTION TO JOIN COUNCIL OF UNALIGNED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL Genstatum has broken from its mold of largely ignoring international politics today with its request for membership into the Council of Unaligned Nations (CUN). The announcement by Emperor Julian Princeps that he will ratify the charter of the CUN later this week comes as a surprise to many. There has been little indication before now that Genstatum has had any interest in involving itself with the organization. The Emperor gave a short press release today stating that "Genstatum is a nation that cannot ignore the international stage any longer. In order for us to grow as a nation, and as a people, we must become part of the greater global community. Joining with the Council of Unaligned Nations is an excellent way to do that without violating our existing neutral stance in international politics. Hopefully, this will lead to greater cooperation by Genstatum in the international community, as serve to foster growth not only domestically but for all people." The Emperor later in the press release announced that he intended to name Spurius Antius Ambassador to the CUN. Antius is the former Head of the Office of Foreign Affairs, who stepped down in 2009 following the death of his wife. We reached out to him for comment on the announcement and he had the following response: "I have had a long history of serving this great nation. Although personal tragedy has interrupted that in the past, I am excited to once again serve this nation." There has been some public concern over the sudden nature of the announcement, but support for joining the CUN is overwhelmingly positive. |

![]() EMPEROR JULIAN FOLDS TO PUBLIC PRESSURE INTERNATIONAL | POLITICAL Following a set of speeches by prominent Senators calling for opposition to the Emperor's attendance to the Dunwich Summit for the establishment of the Association of Crowns there has been a series of large protests outside the Imperial Palace. They have occurred over the space of the last week and over 20,000 people filled the forum outside of the major governmental buildings yesterday in protest of the Emperor's attendance in the largest protest to date. Organizers of the event stated that it was their intention to have Genstatum become a fully democratic state and to peacefully remove the Emperor. They claim that the institution of an Emperor is archaic and that free and fair elections must be held for all those who would govern the country. Senator Flavius Felix, one of the Emperor's most outspoken critics, had the following to say: "It is time that Genstatum took true steps towards democracy. This system that we have now merely panders to the idea of democratic rule with most of the power being in the hands of a man that was not selected by the people he governs but by the position of his birth. These protests show that the people of Genstatum recognize that truth. Emperor Princeps should respond to the will of his people and make way for true democracy." The Emperor's Administration did not make a direct response to either the organizers of the protests or to the statement given by Senator Felix. They did however announce this morning that the Emperor will no longer be attending the summit. They did not give an official reason in their press statement for this change in plans. |

![]() EMPEROR RATIFIES CUN CHARTER INTERNATIONAL Earlier today Emperor Julian Princeps followed through with his promise to ratify the charter of the Council of Unaligned Nations. Following this ratification, Genstatum is now a member of the CUN alongside Orsus Iberia, the Union of Nordic People and Nueva Ardia. Immediate preceding the ratification Emperor Julian gave a short statement: "With the ratification of this document, The Empire of Genstatum will become a full member of the Council of Unaligned Nations. In alignment with the stated goals of the charter being ratified today, my administration will pursue greater diplomatic, cultural, and economic relations with not only the other members of the CUN but with all nations of Mundus." TRADE DEAL IN WORKS WITH EAST MORELAND INTERNATIONAL | FINANCIAL King David Ironside III has been on a diplomatic visit to Genstatum. There has been widespread speculation as to the intention and results of this visit but the Office of Foreign Affairs today announced the general public the opening of reciprocal embassies between Genstatum and East Moreland. The announcement also included the mention of a large scale trade deal in the works between the two nations. Following this announcement, there was a flurry of activity in the Genstatum stock market with the market closing 2 percent higher. SUCCESS IN THE IOBA INTERNATIONAL | SPORTS Following the conclusion of the 11th game of the inaugural season of the IOBA, the three Genstatum teams in the league have winning records. The Imperials were first in the league until recently when two losses dropped them into second place. The Steel and The Legionnaires have made major advances in the standing, tied for 3rd and 4th in the league respectively, up from their position at the bottom of the league earlier in the season. |

![]() GENSTATUM NAVY TO PERFORM MANEUVERS IN THE SEA OF KYNE INTERNATIONAL
Following a diplomatic deal with the new Nueva Ardian government, the Genstatum Navy gained access to Nueva Ardian ports for refueling purposes. This expands the reach of the Genstatum Navy outside of Krimeon Sea and into the Sea of Kyne, which is a major strategic advancement for the military according to the Military spokesman at an announcement this morning. In preparation for future operations in the region, a small task group has left Genstatum for the Sea of Kyne, with plans to refuel in Nueva Ardia before performing a small survey operation and mock search and rescue drills. Emperor Julian released a small statement this morning in conjunction with the announcement by the military: "This is an important deal for Genstatum, not only for its strategic importance but also for the relationship that it is cultivating. Nueva Ardia has been tumultuous in recent weeks, but we have full confidence in the new government. This deal is a sign of our support and recognition of the newly established government. I have high hopes that this deal will only lead to greater cooperation and connection between our two peoples." TRADE DEAL WITH EAST MORELAND FINALIZED POLITICAL A diplomatic mission by East Moreland to Genstatum has bore fruit, the Office of Foreign Affairs announced this morning that an official trade deal between the two countries has been signed. Following a diplomatic lunch with major political leaders of Genstatum, a personal meeting between Emperor Julian Princeps and King David Ironside III of East Moreland occurred in which the trade deal was created. Many corporations have come out in support of the deal, with Currum Motor Company being one of the most outspoken. CMC has, for years, encouraged the current administration to take a more active role in establishing free and open trade with other nations. The automobile company has a significant portion of the domestic market but has been looking to expand overseas. The company spokesman referred to the trade deal as "a wonderful development" and that Currum Motor Company would be "seriously investigating the possibility of expanding operations into East Moreland in the near future" in a short phone interview. The official contents of the trade deal can be seen below: TRADE AGREEMENT

![]() TERRORIST ATTACKS ACROSS GENSTATUM ![]() Today, tragedy struck Genstatum. There have been at least 3 suicide bombings across the nation today that have resulted in high civilian casualties. The terrorist group The Sorority of Materna claimed responsibility for the attacks. At least 90 people have died in the attacks with over 60 more being hospitalized. The three attacks occurred within half an hour of each other at various locations across the nation. The first occurred on a bus in downtown Jupiter that resulted in 11 casualties, the second was at a mall in Juno with 17 casualties, and the third and most devastating attack occurred at the graduation ceremonies for the Genstatum Military Academy in which at least 62 people have been confirmed killed with many more injured. The initial blasts were not the source of most of the casualties, but instead the most fatal component of the bombs was a chemical agent dispersed in the blast. Despite serious fatalities resulting from the agent, the National Police has assured the public that the agent has been properly dealt with and that those who were exposed to only a small amount have a very good chance of recovery but is encouraging all those in the area of the blast to be examined by a medical professional just in case. A spokesman for the Office of Justice released the following statement: "This was a tragic day for Genstatum. The Office of Justice and the National Police will be working tirelessly to find those responsible and bring them to justice. We express our condolences to all those affected by the attacks, and we will endeavor to make sure that a tragedy like this never happens again." |

![]() ESTABLISHMENT OF VENDOSIAN-GENSTATUM TREATY INTERNATIONAL ![]() Following a low profile discussion between the the two nations a diplomatic treaty has been agreed upon by both governments. The treaty marks the first official interaction between the nations. In a surprise announcement the Genstatum Office of Foreign Affairs announced today in a written statement that in addition to an exchange of embassies with Vendosia, there is also a Reciprocal Refueling Agreement for naval vessels, and an Non-Aggression Pact. When asked to comment on the surprise announcement Genstatum Head of the Office of Foreign Affairs Valgius Rufus had the following to say: "This agreement was worked on by both governments informally at first but eventually evolved into a discussion that warranted official diplomatic relations. This treaty hopeful marks the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship and opens the door for potential cooperation in the future." Vendosian Foreign Minister Cristian da Rosa released the following comments on the treaty: "We hope that this agreement between our two great nations will not only expand the range of our navy, but also win us a new friend in the international community. Solidarity and strong bonds between nation states are the tools that we can use to make the world a better place. The audaciousness of some greater powers will not keep us from striving for greater goals." This announcement is the second of its kind in recent days for the Genstatum government, and represents another major strategic advancement for Genstatum. |

![]() GENSTATUM SIGNS MAJOR INTERNATIONAL TREATIES GOVERNMENT | INTERNATIONAL This week marks a huge step in Genstatum's foreign policy actions. After much deliberation by the Princeps administration, Valgius Rufus, the Head of the Office of Foreign Affairs officially signed both the Fair Seas Concordat and the Mundus Convention on Universal rights. These internationally recognized treaties are important steps to the involvement of the nations in a more significant way with the international community at large. International relations experts mark this as an important turning point in Genstatum's foreign policy. Professor Claudius Aelianus of the Genstatum National University and our foreign policy consultant marked the signing of these two treaties as fundamentally differing from typical Genstatum foreign policy, pointing out that this is the first time the signing of a foreign treaty will result in significant legal changes. As is commonly known, slavery was never officially outlawed within Genstatum, but has fallen out of favor significantly in the last 100 years. Now days, only death row inmates can decide to sell themselves as slaves in exchange for their lives and only to certain people with the proper licenses. The census last year found only 67 people were currently enslaved in Genstatum. While it is not a significant change in actual practice, with only an extremely small percentage of citizens being enslaved, the Mundus Convention on Universal Rights ban on slavery will represent a huge ideological turn in the Genstatum legal system as the government typically balks at any sort of foreign interference in domestic affairs. However, earlier this week before the signing of the Convention, Emperor Julian broke precedent and outlawed slavery specifically stating the MCUR in the reason for the change. Civil rights groups have applauded the change they considered long overdue. Those currently enslaved within Genstatum will be re-entered into the prison system but it is unsure as of yet whether or not they will be replaced on death row. CIS MILITARY EXPO LEADS TO DEAL GOVERMENT | INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE & TECH ![]() The CIS Military Expo is being held in Dijel and is showcasing some of the most advanced technology the world has ever seen. One example is the SMART GUN produced by the East Moreland Rifle Company, which features a coded firing system and the potential for many non-lethal options for subduing targets. The Genstatum National Police announced today its intention to purchase 50 of these units for deployment among their operatives, expressing that this will give officers many non-lethal options when dealing with potentially dangerous situations. |

![]() PRO-DEMOCRACY DEMONSTRATIONS BEGIN AGAIN POLITICAL Following the recent terrorist attacks by the Sorority of Materna, the series of pro-democracy protests that had been calling for the peaceful removal of Emperor Julian from power and the implementation of free and fair elections had been called off. However, they began again in full force last night. Key organizer Voce Magna had had the following to say on the matter: "This country needs true democracy, that is not changed by a few terrorist attacks. In fact, the crucial mismanagement that allowed for these attacks to happen were because of mistakes by the Julian government. We don't have crucial national defense infrastructure because the Senate doesn't trust an Emperor with those powers. They would trust a democratically elected leader, and perhaps if there had been trust between those two groups this situation would never have happened. People will criticize us for protesting so soon after the attacks, but the Emperor himself said that we cannot allow the terrorists to win by having us be paralyzed. We must continue to do what we would do if the attacks had never happened." While these comments have drawn ire from many groups, they seem to be aligned with public consensus on the matter. In a public opinion poll published yesterday, the Princeps regime dropped to it's lowest approval ratings in years with only 36% of the public feeling that the government was adequately responding to current events and over 80% of those polled saying that they felt that the terrorist attacks were at least partially due to mistakes on the part of the current administration. The Princeps administration has not released an official response to these comments or polls. |

![]() BOMBING IN DOWNTOWN JUPITER DOMESTIC An explosion rocked the capital this afternoon as the headquarters of the National Police suffered a terrorist attack. Despite security crackdowns following the attacks by the Sorority of Materna the attackers managed to successfully leave a large car bomb outside the building. The blast killed 8 people and did significant structural damage to the front of the building. Strong suspicion fell on the Sorority due to their recent actions in Genstatum, but the group has been uncharacteristically silent. Each of the other attacks were claimed by the group within minutes of them occurring, but police say that there has been no such action this time. According to details released by the police, this attack appears to significantly differ from the previous attacks. Unlike the previous attacks by the Sorority, this was not a suicide bombing nor was a chemical agent used. Initial findings seem to indicate that the explosives and the car used in the attack were both Genstatum military issue. This information has sparked a series of concerned statements by government officials, military officers, and the general public about the current state of security of Genstatum. The Emperor's administration has been under severe fire for their perceived mismanagement not only national security issues but also the investigation into the attacks by the Sorority of Materna. The investigation into the attacks has yet so far yielded no significant results and no arrests associated with the attacks. A lot of the criticism has arisen out of the Head of the National Police being a cousin of the Emperor's wife, while supporters of the Emperor have pointed out that the selection was a valid one due to his experience and track record it was met with some opposition when it occurred, and that opposition has resurfaced following the recent terrorist attacks. The criticism of the Emperor's administration is sure to increase following this attack on the National Police headquarters. The investigation is still ongoing at the time of this article and we will release any updates as we receive them. |

Valiant efforts were made in other events such as the Men's 10km Cross Country (6th out of 40), Individual Rifle (8th out of 40), and the Drum Corp Preliminary (4th out of 15) in which the Genstatum team missed progression to the final by 3 points. ![]() SENATOR FELIX CALLS FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF REFERENDUM POLITICAL Pictured here is Senator Flavius Felix at last night's rally Nightly protests have been held outside the Imperial Palace for the past couple weeks. These protests have been organized by several pro-democracy groups and are calling for the peaceful removal of the Emperor and the implementation of a fully democratic system. The protests have been growing in size over the past few weeks due to the perceived mismanagement of the investigations of the Sorority of Materna terrorist attacks. The movement has also received widespread support from many major Senators, many of which have donated staff to help organized the events. Senator Flavius Felix, the most outspoken critic of the Emperor, gave a speech addressing over six thousand people at the latest protest criticizing the Emperor for many of his policies, the mismanagement of the terrorist investigations, and the escalating border tensions with the United States of Epanastasia. His speech concluded with a call for the Emperor to implement a referendum system. Senator Felix spoke with one of our reporters following the speech and gave the following statement:
The Emperor's Press Office has not issued a response to this latest rally, and one is not expected as the Emperor has been completely silent on the issue yet so far. |

![]() HUMANITARIAN MISSION BEGINS IN ZIMALIA INTERNATIONAL | HEALTH ![]() Following an outbreak of disease in Zimalia, a humanitarian aid team from the Genstatum Office of Disease Management has been sent to provide medical treatment to those infected. Recently, an outbreak of the disease occurred in Genstatum after a Professor from the University of Minerva studying in Zimalia contracted the disease and brought it back from his trip. Twenty-six people died from the outbreak in Genstatum, but it was contained relatively early and the outbreak was suppressed. Lucius Otho, Head of the Office of Health, announced the humanitarian mission this morning, calling this effort a "moral necessity as a citizen of the world" and calling for support by all nations of the world in helping Zimalia combat the illness. ![]() EMPEROR BREAKS PRECEDENT, ANNOUNCES REFERENDUM POLITICAL | INTERNATIONAL Pictured above is the symbol of the CTOIn a history making announcement, Emperor Julian Princeps just released a statement declaring the imminence of the first ever referendum to be held in Genstatum's history. The referendum vote will determine if Genstatum will join the Commonwealth Treaty Organization (CTO). Joining the organization would represent a huge step forward for the Genstatum government in their international relations policy. Despite signing both the Mundus Convention on Universal Rights and the Fair Seas Concordat, two major international treaties, the current administration has held off on joining the CTO. The statement, made on the front steps of the Imperial Palace this afternoon, did not specifically mention the pro-democracy protests that have been occurring across the nation but it is widely speculated that this move is an attempt to appease those who have so vocally criticized the Emperor. The referendum is being scheduled for early July, with voting planned to remaining open for several days to allow for more public involvement. Edited by Genstatum, 27th June 2015 - 08:44 PM.

![]() REFERENDUM PREPERATIONS AT FULL STEAM POLITICAL | INTERNATIONAL ![]() Pictured above is a Pro-CTO campaign office in downtown Jupiter With the referendum on membership in the Commonwealth Treaty Organization now officially announced, campaign centers like the one pictured above in downtown Jupiter, have erupted all over the nation both in support and in opposition of membership to the CTO. Pro-democracy groups, which have been extremely vocal in the past few months, are throwing themselves into public awareness campaigns, and have continually expressed the importance of great voter turnout at this inaugural referendum. Public opinion seems split at this point along rural and urban lines. Polls of urban citizens seem to be mostly in favor of membership with the CTO, where as the rural agricultural areas have been more vocally opposed to the membership. A spokesperson for a major agricultural collective issued a statement early on in the process that expressed concerns that membership in the CTO and international involvement in genreal, may result in pressures from outside forces to remove many of the protectionist policies Genstatum has in place for its agricultural sectors. The spokesperson claimed that a vote for membership to the CTO was a vote against the farmers of Genstatum, which he referred to as "the backbone of Genstatum". His concerns have been mirrored by other agricultural representative groups and a few industrial unions. Secretary General of the CTO, Timothy Carpenter is expected to make a visit to Genstatum in the weeks preceding the vote to help assuage some of the fears associated with joining the CTO. EPANASTASIAN TENSIONS AT ALL TIME HIGH INTERNATIONAL ![]() Pictured above is Private Marcus Julian preparing a defensive emplacement Following a border dispute with Epanastasia a few weeks back, both nations have been on high alert. Genstatum's military has established a defensive perimeter along the border and diplomatic talks have stagnated. A resolution to the situation in the near future seems unlikely. Several soldiers interviewed expressed their hopes that the diplomatic talks would resume in the near future and that this situation would be resolved without bloodshed. Private Marcus Julian had this to say about the issue "All of us would prefer not to go to war, but if Epanastasia wants to go to war we really don't have much of a choice do we? All of us are here because we want to protect Genstatum, it's what we promised we would do. If they want to hurt Genstatum, they have to go through us, and I can guarantee that they won't have an easy time of that." Tensions erupted after a Genstatum squad was allegedly found inside Epanastasia. The Genstatum government has denied all claims that this was intentional by the Epanastasian government. Diplomatic channels opened up immediately following the incident, but have been silent for quite some time. Valgius Rufus of the Office of Foreign Relations has expressed his frustration over the lack of communication: "We want a peaceful resolution to this issue, but the Epanastasian government has been silent. We have not been allowed access to the supposed site of the incident and therefore have not been able to perform our own investigation and they have not released the results of their own investigation. There is no flow of information at this point. Diplomacy only works through reciprocal communication, without communication no peaceful resolution can be reached. Our administration has tried to encourage a peaceful resolution, but it seems most of our attempts have fallen on deaf ears." |

![]() NUEVA ARDIAN UNREST SPOOKS GENSTATUM INTERNATIONAL ![]() Valgius Rufus, Head of the Office of Foreign Affairs Following a large degree of unrest in Nueva Ardia in recent times, the Genstatum Office of Foreign Affairs announced today that they would be closing their embassy in Nueva Ardia and recalling all embassy personnel. The Office of Foreign Affairs also announced the termination of the current naval treaty Genstatum had in place with Nueva Ardia. The diplomatic talks that spawned the initial exchange of embassies and the naval treaty were held with the government underneath the now deceased Abran Penultimo. Following his death the country has suffered a significant amount of political turmoil and violence. Valgius Rufus when questioned on the issue stated: "We have enjoyed our relationship with the Nueva Ardian people, and we hope to resume it in the future. However, the situation within the country is very fluid at the current moment and the administration thought it would be better to observe the situation, and then reevaluate our official relations with the Nueva Ardian government." As of the time of the announcement, all Genstatum embassy personnel have been evacuated for their safety and were safely aboard a plane back to Genstatum. ![]() TIMOTHY CARPENTER WELL RECEIVED IN GENSTATUM POLITICAL | INTERNATIONAL ![]() Recently, Timothy Carpenter, current Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Treaty Organization, gave a speech in Genstatum's capital in an attempt to persuade the nation to vote to join the CTO in an upcoming referendum vote. The issue has largely been split along geographic lines, with the rural areas being highly opposed to joining the CTO over perceived dangers that it would cause to the large agricultural production industry in Genstatum. However, Carpenter seems to have won over even more of Genstatum, with over 80 percent of those polled in urban and suburban areas being in favor of joining the CTO. Numbers in favor of joining the CTO have increased slightly in rural areas as well, but an overwhelming majority is still opposed to CTO membership. With the referendum vote fast approaching, leaders in the YES campaign have expressed their confidence following latest polling numbers but have said that they will still be active in their campaign all the way up until the voting period closes. |

The team, affectionately nicknamed the "Baby Blues" by its fans, is coached by Genstatum native Constantine Athleta. ![]() GENSTATUM VOTES TO JOIN THE CTO BY SHALLOW MARGIN POLITICAL | INTERNATIONAL ![]() Following the first ever referendum vote in Genstatum, the country will be applying for membership to the Commonwealth Treaty Organization. Taking the opportunity to seize this rare moment of popular control, over 85% of all citizens of voting age turned out for the referendum. Although it was a narrow margin with the YES campaign garnering 50.8% of the votes, it seems that strong efforts by the YES campaign turned the tide in favor of the CTO. The voting occurred mostly along geographic lines with urban citizens being overwhelmingly in favor of the CTO, with the rural agricultural regions being vocally opposed to joining the CTO. Emperor Julian Princeps spoke on the steps of the Imperial Palace following the conclusion of the voting: "This is a momentous day for Genstatum. This enormous turnout shows that the average citizen of Genstatum is deeply concerned with the future of this nation, and I could not be more proud of my nation on this day. It is my sincere hope that the choice made by the people of this nation will lead it to success." Political analysts have suggested that this referendum vote was merely an attempt to appease the vocal pro-democracy groups that have been hosting protests all over Genstatum, but are predicting that this vote may have the opposite effect. Senator Felix, an outspoken critic of the Imperial Administration, released a statement just after the Emperor's speech : "The average citizen has now had a taste of democracy. Power, for a brief second, was no longer monopolized in this country by those with the privilege of a certain birth. It is my hope that the citizens of Genstatum will realize now that they do not need the Emperor to rule this nation, but that they are perfectly capable of doing it themselves. Democracy has been a long time coming, and now our nation stands on the edge of something great. I can only hope that we as a nation have the courage to step out and take control of what is rightfully ours." |

![]() MILITARY COMMITS ASSETS TO CTOMM INTERNATIONAL Following recent developments surrounding the CTOMM (Commonwealth Treaty Organization Mission in Marseilles), the Genstatum military has decided to commit military assets to the operation intended to combat the Sorority of Materna. Despite the fatal terrorist attacks by the Sorority of Materna against the citizens of Genstatum, the government has, until now, not enacted any military action against the group. An official spokesperson for the Office of Military Affairs said today that the government had made plans immediately following the attacks, but were discouraged from unilateral action due to logistical concerns and international opinion. After the creation of the CTOMM, they still refrained from committing assets due to their lack of comfort with committing Genstatum military assets to an organization to which they did not belong. However, following the recent referendum vote to join the CTO, those plans that were initially scrapped were reevaluated and lead to the recent decision. Underneath the command of Major General Kaeso Aruns almost 6,000 servicemen in two combat brigades will be deployed to Marseilles for action against the Sorority of Materna. All deployed troops will be part of the elite Alpini corps, which specializes in mountainous operations. This specialization is "well suited to the mountainous terrain of Marseilles" according to the spokesperson as way of reasoning for the deployment of these particular combat brigades. Traditionally the Alpini have served as the defensive force for the mountainous northern border of Genstatum, and historically have rarely seen action outside of Genstatum since their creation in 1872. This will be the first deployment of combat troops for both the Alpini corps, and the Genstatum Army in general, in over 150 years. |

![]() TERO MELOS THREATENS DEAL BETWEEN GENSTATUM AND NUEVA ARDIA INTERNATIONAL Former Revolutionary - Now President Tero MelosWith recent allegations of Tero Melos taking questionable action against the accused assaulter of his daughter, the recent trade deal with Genstatum has been called into question. Industry leaders agreed to go along with the deal negotiated personally by the Emperor with the Nueva Ardian government due to insistence by the Emperor that Nueva Ardia was stable. The deal would have involved the trade of agricultural equipment from Genstatum suppliers to the newly closed Nueva Ardian economy in exchange for preferential access to the large oil market. This deal will be immensely profitable for Genstatum if it succeeds as it would have allowed significantly cheaper access to oil. Business leaders have now become increasingly wary of any connection with Nueva Ardia, many citing concerns that a man that would torture and maim an a teenager is someone that is unsuited to be a leader. They called into question the stability of a nation with such a man at its head. The Genstatum government has asked for patience while investigations into the truthfulness of these rumors are made. The current administration has historically been very willing to be involved with Nueva Ardia despite multiple governments and numerous allegations of human rights violations. A government spokesperson said this morning "We have always been supporters of the Nueva Ardian people. While these allegations are disconcerting, I would urge everyone not to jump to conclusions without proper evidence." |

![]() THE REPUBLIC RISES POLITICAL | INTERNATIONAL | FINANCIAL A long period of silence by the Genstatum government, which was accompanied by a near freeze of all international diplomatic relations and closed borders, was broken today with an announcement by a newly formed Government. The announcement was made former Senator Flavius Felix in a morning press conference with both domestic and foreign news agencies:
Despite the Emperor's reassurances, many of the things said in this address have come as a surprise to the average citizen of Genstatum. Following the death of the Emperor there were widespread media blackouts and rumors of detention of high level government officials. This is speculated to have been as a precautionary measure by the Senators to prevent the cousin of the Emperor from acquiring international support. Since the Emperor had no children, the line of succession would have fallen to his cousin. During his tenure as a Senator, Flavius Felix has been a vocal critic of the Emperor and the imperial system advocating constantly for a return to democratic elections. It appears as though he took drastic measures to take advantage of the opportunity. Hours after the Emperor had died, and before any announcement, the borders to the country were closed, all embassies went into lockdown, there was occupation of major news organizations by police forces, and widespread failure of major communication systems. When the veil of secrecy was finally lifted, the Senate had completed a new Constitution and had ratified it. The exact text of the new legal code has yet to be distributed but the former Senator has made promises that it represents a new democratic step for the country. But despite insistence in other news conferences that the new government will attempt to honor the old, a recent press release has indicated that all former treaties and international agreements made by the former government have been nullified. Genstatum's economy has been in freefall during the closure of the country, and that drop is expected to continue without a quick infusion of foreign aid and economic treaties. Political analysts are expecting a mixed response to this sudden change of government. While the shift to a more democratic system is surely going to be supported by much of the international community, the suspicious and sudden circumstances of the change are sure to draw criticism especially from allies of the former government. |

![]() CONSTITUTIONAL TEXT RELEASED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC POLITICAL Following through on promises made earlier this week, the Senate has released the text of the new Constitution of the Genstata Republic. The Constitution was hurriedly passed in the confusion following the death of the Emperor without knowledge or release of the text to the general public. The secretive and hurried nature of the new governing documented has drawn heavy criticism from many political commentators and supporters of the Imperial Authority, with many accusing the proposer of the new Constitution, Senator Flavius Felix, of creating chaos and widespread media and telecommunications blackouts to allow the forcing through of a new legal code. Despite accusations of underhanded tactics, the majority of citizens approve of the change to a full democratic system over the former system. In the months preceding the death of the Emperor their were widespread protests in favor of switching to a fully democratic system lead by Senator Flavius Felix. The new constitution was voted in unanimously in a closed vote less than 24 hours after the death of the Emperor Julian Princeps. Although no admission has been made, it is assumed that there was a prestanding agreement by the Senators on a new legal text that would be voted on to end Imperial Authority over the Senate if an opportunity arose. The newly announced democratic system will hold elections in the very near future. The text of the Constitution was released at a press conference held by Senate leaders earlier today. Political and legal experts from GNN have reviewed the document and have provided the following summary of the new political structure:
As always we will keep updated as soon as we have any more information on the election. Edited by Genstatum, 28th March 2016 - 11:47 PM.

![]() A LUCKY ELECTION FOR FLAVIUS FELIX POLITICAL The first democratic election has come to a conclusion in the Genstata Republic and sitting at the head of this new democratic nation is Flavius Felix. A former Senator from the capital city of Jupiter, he was a long time advocate for democracy and staunch opposer of the Imperial authority. He was by far the most popular name in politics besides the Emperor so it comes as little surprise that he and his supporters have come out on top in the election. He has been the center of some controversy following the sudden death of the Emperor, which marked the end of the hereditary line due to the Emperor having no children and not having named a successor. There have been widespread accusations that the newly elected Consul both took advantage of and caused large scale chaos as a way to force through a new constitution and bring about democratic elections. Opposition leaders have called these actions as "Merely a glimpse of the authoritarian intentions of the so called supporter of democracy, Flavius Felix". The move has secured widespread support apparently, as Consul Felix now leads the country. Public opinion polls show that a large portion of the population view this move to democracy as a good thing even despite the allegedy extreme steps taken to bring it about. The new Consul has made no comment publicly about his role in the widespread media blackouts, utility shutoffs, border closures, and complete recall of the International Diplomatic Corps. Consul Flavius Felix now takes on his role as Head of State for the next three years. He will preside over a fairly receptive Senate with his Party controlling a large percentage of the 132 available seats. The Consul has promised to take a more active role in international politics, stating a personal belief that the new Genstata Republic has a lot to offer to the world and that domestic prosperity would surely follow international interest in the nation. The second in command, Kaeso Aruns, elected from the Action Party has a different approach to international politics. The former military leader, most known for his involvement with the CTOMM, believes that in this time of international instability the best action is to consolidate and to protect the nation. Exact figures of the election can be seen below.
MERCIA IS FELIX'S FIRST DIPLOMATIC TARGET INTERNATIONAL Minister for Foreign Affairs Valgius Rufus, a holdover from the Imperial administration, has been dispatched to Merica for some soft diplomacy according to the Consul's Office. Citing the opportunity as a way for the Genstata Republic to show it's new face, the administration stated in their press briefing that they believed a small low pressure situation was an excellent way to build some good will and to build up the name of the new nation. The Minister will be meeting with several other delegations to attend the dedication of of a new Temple in the nation of Mercia. Edited by Genstatum, 2nd April 2016 - 07:05 PM.

![]() GENSTATA REPUBLIC COMMITS RESOURCES TO FELYSIAN RELIEF EFFORTS POLITICAL | INTERNATIONAL Members of the Genstata Navy preparing supplies for the relief effotThe Felysian Islands, a small group of unclaimed islands in the Great Northern Ocean, have been the center of a relief effort over the last few weeks. Home to a large number of isolated tribes that are notoriously hostile to outsiders, the islands have had little to no interaction with the outside world. The inhabitants of the islands have been studied by anthropologist and sociologists, but most expeditions are short lived due to both weather conditions and the hostile sometimes even murderous reactions of the local inhabitants. Due to the low lying nature of the islands, they are extremely vulnerable to rising tides associated with global warming and a recent report by the International Environmental Protection Organization (IEPO) has predicted that islands will fully disappear in the very near future. They have called for an international effort to begin a relocation effort to move the native tribes to locations that will allow them to survive the impending disaster. The islands were also the location of a recent tsunami which has caused massive issues for the native people devastating the little infrastructure that had been established by the primitive locals. The damage is something far beyond the capabilities of the pre-industrial tribes to handle by themselves. In response to both the tsunami relief efforts and the beginning of the planning of the relocation process the Genstata Republic has pledged humanitarian and logistical support. They announced plans to initiate a disaster relief program based off of their aircraft carrier the GRN Coelus. Planning to initially operate the humanitarian mission off the aircraft carrier until land based infrastructure can be established, the carrier accompanied by several other ships will bring military personnel, members of humanitarian relief groups, and experts in both Felysian culture and relocation efforts. The carrier group is expected to arrive in the Felysian Islands later this week and to begin the relief efforts. The mission, proposed by Consul Flavius Felix, was passed with widespread support in the Senate. Planning is already beginning to find a new location to relocate the local inhabitants to, as well as preparing to increase the immigration quotas in the Genstata Republic to accept refugees. The administration claims that it will be coordinating with several other international governments on the relief effort. |

![]() GENSTATA REPUBLIC NAMED AS FINALIST IN POLYMISER RELOCATION FINANCIAL | SCIENCE & TECH After announcing its plan to expand overseas, the company Polymiser, a large polymer production and development firm, fielded a large number of proposals from various nations and economic zones attempting to woo the company. The Neputune Economic Zone, one of the three major areas of planned high tech industry expansion designated by Consul Felix's new economic plan, has been listed as a finalist for the location of the new Polymiser plant. Estimated to bring in over 10,000 jobs during the construction phase and 4,000 permanent positions, this would be a huge win for the fledgling government. While some small Genstata based businesses have taken advantage of the economic development plan, this would represent the first major international firm that would be coming into Genstata as a result of the new economic initiative. The final announcement is expected to be made soon with the Neptune Economic Zone competing against Technology City in East Moreland and Nakim Bay Industrial Crescent in Lakhzovia. ![]() THE GENSTATA REPUBLIC CALLS FOR INTERNATIONAL DENOUNCEMENT OF MERCIAN ACTIONS[1] INTERNATIONAL Following a small dispute over religiously charged wording of a oath of loyalty, the Mercian government has taken heavy handed action that has put international dignitaries in harms way. Following an armed standoff in which Minister of Foreign Affairs was trapped, the government released this small statement on the matter.
The Genstata Republic has reaffirmed it's stance, calling for a peaceful resolution and international denouncement of the actions in a later press release given by the Consul himself. Adding that not only was this a matter of religious freedom but also a matter of extremely poor judgement, the Consul once again urged the international community to denounce these actions. ECONOMIC INIATIVE HAS FIRST MAJOR VICTORY INTERNATIONAL As part of the the Consul's new economic plan, a large focus has been made on attracting high tech and manufacturing firms to the Genstata Republic. The plan has focused around the establishment of three new economic zones outside several major cities as areas of targeted development. A package of incentives for companies moving into these areas has been successful in attracting it's first new business. Polymiser, a large polymer manufacturing company, has decided to open a site in the Neptune Economic Zone. The Minister of the Economy released statements earlier today showing optimism that this is only the first of many companies to come. At the same meeting, he also announced that several key members of OsmanTech were scheduled to visit and that a delegation from Hrael would be visiting in the near future to discuss possible economic agreements and partnerships. ![]() THE GENSTATA REPUBLIC COMMITS TO CTO INTERVENTION IN IO/UPA CONFLICT INTERNATIONAL Genstata soldiers performing last minute exercises to prepare for deploymentToday, the Genstata Republic officially announced it's support of a resolution proposed to the CTO Security Council which called for intervention on humanitarian grounds in the conflict between Iunctus Ordo and The United Provinces of Austreos. The war between the two began suddenly and gathered little international interest. That is, until multiple videos of brutal war crimes and ethnic cleansings being performed Iunctus Ordo soldiers were released onto the internet. This evidence spurred East Moreland into action who called for coordinated intervention in the war zone. The nation also deployed troops into the area in anticipation of action. They were recently forced into action when unilateral action by Addyseian forces began to take a turn for the worse. Expressing support for the action, the Genstata Republic has decided to commit to military intervention in the conflict in an attempt to halt the atrocities currently being performed. The announcement has come after the beginning of the invasion effort by East Moreland and Addysian ground forces, so it seems unlikely that they will be involved in the initial invasion effort, instead the force is anticipated to reach the war zone after the initial invasion and is intending to offer support and reinforcement to the existing effort. This will represent the second foreign deployment in recent years, and the first of the new democratic government, of military forces. The Alpini regiments, which were the only Genstata units to see action during the CTO actions against the Sorority of Materna, will once again be deployed to the area. The 1st and 2nd Alpini Brigade will be joined by the 1st Armored Brigade. This deployment will represent almost 10,000 troops and they are expected to reach the warzone in about a week. Support for the deployment has been vocal with a majority of polls showing support for actions. The authority to the action was voted in favor today, mostly led by a coalition of the two major parties, the Republicans and the Action Party. The Action Party, lead by former CTOMM Commander Kaeso Aruns, strongly supported the action claiming that the use of force was necessary to prevent further senseless loss of life. |
