President Yeoman Enacts Law Against Nueva Ardian Business and Forces the Close of Nueva Ardian Military Base  “Nueva Ardian business, including the supposed Worker-owned businesses of Nueva Ardia have exploited our lands, and our people long enough through militaristic and economic imperialism on our lands.” Says Yeoman. “Recently they’ve used aggressive tactics of bribing officials for the allowance of Nueva Ardian capitalization on Qinjing’s vast oil resources and other un-tapped raw materials. Resources that we’ve been unable to tap ourselves because of their outright oppression of our capabilities and exploitation.” This outburst against Nueva Ardia, in the beginning of Yeomans first term, has promised to safeguard economic and political sovereignty from Nueva Ardia. One of first moves was increasing corporate business tax, aimed specifically at the many worker-owned businesses in Nueva Ardia, this move already having backlash by many generally saying, “These new enforced policies, without consent of the legislature are anti-business. “ Yeoman’s next move: Shutting down the Nueva Ardian military base stationed on the Northern Canals. This has received the most criticism as many state this action breaks the peace treaty with Nueva Ardia, so far Nueva Ardian naval and army forces in the base have refused to move until there is direct confirmation from the Qinjing legislature. Prince Abran Penultimo saying, “Without the agreement of both sides the base cannot be moved, as to the terms agreed on in 1991, however if we are forced to move this is breaking a binding peace treaty. Also, I don’t see Qinjing with much room in this situation, they are indebted to us by billions of Yen and Pesos.” So far, Yeoman has not stated anything else, Qinjing military movement towards the Nueva Ardian base has also halted and the base seems to be staying. Universal Healthcare Defeated  The fourth time a UHC Bill was passed through the Legislative Council it has been denied, Speaker of the High Council stating, “Universal Healthcare is a form of slavery, forcing doctors to work and treat patients without being paid for their services.” This fourth vote has caused more outrage and protest as much as the State’s illegalization of Homosexuality, leading to the execution of hundreds across the nation. Qinjingese activist, Tao Maora says. “It’s a combination of complete privatization of our healthcare system and underground corporate run state. They tell us our taxes will be raised to ‘astronomical’ heights and that the nation will be forced deeper in the poverty line. That universal healthcare will destroy the state and proper human rights are against the morals of Toshi. I read differently in the Toshi religious scripts, all I see the state doing is preying on the illiterate by manipulating out religion to fulfill their own agenda.” |
