Government wins historic victory against union bosses

The government today won an historic victory against the Transit Registry Workers Union (TRWU) bosses who had been threatening the travel plans of thousands of Lakhsov citizens during the upcoming Independence Day holiday week, forcing them to give in to all government demands.

With Independence Day a matter of weeks away the thousands of Lakhsov citizens have been submitting their itineraries to the Transit Registry in hopes of getting a transit permit for the week long holiday, a time used by many to visit family in other parts of the country or simply to vacation in any number of the nations beauty spots.

As anyone who has ever submitted an itinerary at this time of year will know the Transit Registry regularly finds itself able to deal with the volume of applications, the result being a backlog that usually isn't cleared until after the holidays themselves. With this year being the 30th anniversary of the founding of our state the number seeking to travel is set to be the highest ever. Anticipating this the government has sought to ensure that the Registry is fit to handle the increase by requesting a suspension of leave for the pre-holiday period and the extension of overtime.

However those plans have been obstructed by the TRWU which organises the R1 to R3 civil service pay bands, the government has accused union bosses of sowing discontent among the registry workers in an attempt to force the government to withdraw the temporary requirements. It is alleged that the union has been utilising its network of activists to actively spread misinformation, distortions and outright lies leading to a deterioration in workplace discipline.

Having exhausted reasoned negotiations with union bosses the Transit Registry began to prepare a petition to the courts requesting a judicial intervention into the debate, a move many feared may trigger a strike rather than prevent one. However the dispute having come to the attention of the President was resolved almost immediately after Kadassa personally intervened placing a phone call to the union bosses. The union subsequently signed an undertaking to cease workplace agitation for a period of six months.

A source inside the Registry praised the Presidents decisive intervention saying "Having spent the better part of two weeks locked in negotiations with the bosses I can attest to just how gruelling an ordeal it can be. These are not decent men, they're stubborn, arrogant ruffians. It's testament to our Presidents skills as a brilliant and reasoned negotiator that he was able to bring these thugs to see reason and agree to desist with their activities. A lot more people are going to make it to see family this year and it's all thanks to Kadassa."

Security forces on high alert as Utman rioters clash with Police

Security forces have been put on high alert across Transmecuria province after Utman rioters clashed with police attempting to disperse their unauthorised protest held in Donmeh city centre. The protest itself was a deliberate provocation calling on the Utman to come out and rally to demonstrate their displeasure at the independence of the Lakhzovian Republic. The police stepped in after protesters had congregated on Balik Dar Street which marks the boundary of one of the major Lakhzov neighbourhoods and begun to harass innocent Lakhzov citizens going about their business.

In response to increasing tensions in Transmecuria the regional council has convened an emergency session to review security arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.

Curfew Announced after Terror Strike

The government has declared a curfew between the hours of 20:00 - 07:00 for the whole of Transmecuria following recent riots and a terror attack. Security forces poured across the region establishing control points and roadblocks after terrorists attacked the Transmecurian Transit Registry with chlorine gas a highly toxic and corrosive substance that causes significant injury. Three registry workers were taken to hospital suffering respiratory difficulties while one is in intensive care having suffered severe burns and respiratory failure.

The government has declared that it will not allow such provocations to overshadow the coming independence day celebrations and has promised that anyone disrupting the peace or attack the functioning of the state will be dealt with severely

Media Blackout Lifted in Time for Independence Day!

Infoi Yedayi returns to print today after the media blackout declared two weeks ago was lifted by Presidential order today. Infoi Yedayi can now reveal that the media blackout was instituted by an special session of the Emergency Response Committee (ERC) convened in the wake of rising tensions in the Transmecuria province.

After riots and a terror attack utilising chemical agents against the Transit Ministry the military was called in to calm the situation. The curfew, which was renewed last night by the review court, remains in effect and the military has established a network of checkpoints throughout the region while major roads remain closed to traffic.

Rioting continues in the city of Khalin where Uttman extremists have daily been trying to prevent the city's preparations for Independence Day celebrations. The Governor of Khalin insists that the celebrations will go ahead and that the city will not bow to pressure from a noisy, violent minority.

The governor has been granted special permission by the ERC to create a 'green zone' in the city centre and Lakhzov districts where extraordinary measures are authorised to guarantee security during the national holiday.

Greatest Threat to Peace in a Decade - Nueva Ardia Number 1 Sponsor of Terror!

The government is being urged to take action after a recent investigation by Infoi Yedayi discovered that high profile terrorist Utaman Racip is currently being pampered in the state of Nueva Ardia the government of which is reportedly providing support to the extremist Uttman nationalist movement. Providing material and logistical support Nueva Ardia has been collaborating with Racip in pursuit of a return to the state of civil war from which the country has yet to fully recover.

Infoi Yedayi confronted the Nueva Ardian Press Office with the allegations and received a response that they "endorse revolution... sometimes, violent means are necessary to change the world." and when pressed on whether the state considers it to be right for a power to interfere in the domestic crises of a sovereign nation they said "the answer is no, but in this special circumstance, yes. This all boils down to: By any Means Necessary."

An open letter to the government signed by fifty-three Members of the Legislature demanded that the government take firm action against Nueva Ardia and bring in tighter travel restrictions for Uttman citizens to degrade the organisational capabilities of the Uttman nationalists, most importantly comprehensive action must be taken to prevent logistic and material support being supplied to the Uttmans by NA.

President Kadassa's office has hinted that he is preparing to make an announcement regarding recent events in his state of the nation speech at Independence Day.

National Lands Act Passes

The Senate today passed the National Lands Act by an overwhelming majority. The new act contains three major provisions granting significant new powers to the government to aid the pursuit of much needed land reforms.

Under the National Forests Provision major areas of wooded land over 200Km2 will be designated national forests and pass into government ownership with the extension of leases to previous owners in cases where there was one. This nationalisation of one of our nations greatest resources will allow for a far better planned and conserved exploitation of these vital economic sectors.

The Strategic Resources Provision grants the government full control over deposits of key mineral resources, as with the forests provision the law requires the offering of lease to those who previously occupied the land for exploitation. This provision is to ensure that the development of these vital resources is able to meet the strategic needs of the entire nation.

The third major section is the Land Reconciliation and Reform Provision, this orders the opening of a Land Reconciliation Committee to investigate historical claims of land ownership and pass legally binding judgements on land entitlement. Further to this untitled lands and land controlled by absentee landlords will be re-designated as National Lands, leases will be offered to the current occupiers.

Lakhzovia and Zachachevania forge alliance!

Tesan Cikniye shakes hands with Gregory Hu after signing historic treaty in Nakim

The government today announced the signing of a treaty entering Lakhzovia in to an alliance with the nation of Zachachevania. The treaty is expected to strengthen the Lakhzovian economy and increase freedom of movement and cooperation between the nations.

Key points of the agreement

Visa free travel to Zachachevania: Those holding a Lakhzovian passport are now able to travel to Zachachevania without a visa, that allows for the free movement of labour, businessmen and tourists boosting the economy.

Investment in infrastructure: Zachachevanian companies will be investing in developing the natural resources of the country, plans are already being drawn up to build a series of hydroelectric dams in the hill country providing cheap electricity, abundant water for consumption and irrigation as well as regulating water flow down the lower water courses dramatically limiting the destructive flooding in the rainy season.

Defensive Pact: Under the terms of the defensive agreement Zachachevania will intervene in defense of Lakhzovia should any nation ever seek attack our people.

Military cooperation: Zachachevanian forces will be able to make use of Lakhzovian military infrastructure while Lakhzovia will be able to freely move forces through Zachachevanian territory.

Arms deal: The treaty also commits to a deal to buy $13 billion of heavy arms and aircraft as a part of the ambitious military modernisation programme that President Kadassa has been vocally pushing.

Speaking after the signing First Minister for Foreign Affairs Tesan Cikniye said "Today is historic for Lakhzovia. We have gone from a shunned and isolated state fractured by civil war to a proud, unified nation prepared to embrace the future. In signing this treaty we have not only guaranteed the best path to the future our people deserve but also have finally taken a place of significance on the world stage. I am confident that together with our friends in Zachachevania we shall see a future where Lakhzovia finally takes its rightful place as a influental and respected member of the family of nations."

Construction Resumes on Kashani Dam

Posted Image
Thanks to the new Lakhzov-Zachachevanian partnership long delayed projects such as the Kashani Dam are once again underway.

The Kashani Dam, long considered to be an embarrassment by the government was begun in the years prior to independence in the last days of the United Peoples' Republic and construction was halted after the country dissolved in to civil war. Two subsequent attempts were made to complete the project however funding shortages during the long recession led the the project being shelved both times.

However the new treaty with Zachachevania has changed things for the better. Facilitated by the treaty arrangements the governments Lakhzovia Development Corporation has entered in to partnership with Zachachevanian companies to begin the largest infrastructure development programme in the country's history.

While the Kashani Dam is the current flagship project it is but one of five dams planned to provide a considerable supply of cheap clean electricity and fresh water to the country. In addition to these large scale development of other supporting industries is also taking place with the cement production of Transmecuria expected to double within nine months.

However not everyone is pleased by the renewed life of this project, rising waters from the completed dam are expected to submerge at least 28 Utman villages as well as a the tomb of a local Utman Holy Man. The size of the daily protests at the site perimeter has been growing steadily since work resumed nine weeks ago.

A government spokesman we contacted for comment told us that the greater good to the nation cannot be held to ransom by so few a number. The government will not be turned from its decision and that arrangements are being made to rehouse those displaced by the rising waters.

FM Cikniye slams Lakhzovia's Detractors

Posted Image
Tesan Cikniye speaking outside the Ministry for Foreign Affairs

Foreign Minister Tesan Cikniye spoke out against East Moreland and Rokkenjima today after the two nations expressed concerns about the planning and construction of the Kashani dam. Speaking within hours of the initial news articles appearing Cikniye set out to put the record straight and provide the world with the genuine picture.

"Esteemed people of Lakhzovia and the world, good evening and thank you for being here.

Today the honour of Lakkhzovia was besmirched, foreign officials giving speeches accusing our long suffering country of the crime of ethnic cleansing, the given reason? Because the Kashani dam is due to be finished. These nations seek to deny Lakhzovia the basic rights as a sovereign nation to plan for and accommodate the needs of all our citizens. If Utman villages are to be flooded as a result it is not out of design or malice, but a simple unfortunate fact that the Utman live in the region of our land best suited for hydroelectric power. I feel it should also be pointed out that the dams planning and initial construction phase began during the Unite Peoples' Republic, a government dominated by ethnic Utman, they certainly wouldn't be accused of ethnic cleansing for planning that dam, so why are we accused of it for completing it?

These accusations of ethnic cleansing are the basic elements of the Utman propagandist toolbox. The Utman have been engaged in a long campaign to de-legitimise the Lakhzov government and fracture the states control on the country. They use provocation, riots attacks on innocent pedestrians and then concoct stories of atrocities against themselves that they peddle to sensationalist writers of foreign news outlets where truth takes a back seat to marketability; and yes the underdog story is a good seller but it is just that, a story.

The economic deprivation of the Utman is the result of a war of attrition they initiated. The security measures in the Utman belt are a product of their actions, they cannot offend and claim that the measures instigated to protect the innocent are oppression.

The government of Lakhzovia reaffirms our sovereign right to dictate our own national policy in regards to infrastructure planning, we also reject calls to allow observers to investigate our country; our nation would never stand for such a humiliating indignity, nor would we ever seek to hand the violent separatists in our midst a perceived victory that would spur further destabilising actions on their part.

We call on East Moreland and Rokkenjima to reconsider their stance and apologise for the damage they have done to the reputation and honour of an entire people."

Thousands Rally in Nakim Square in Support of Government

Posted Image
Protesters burned Rokkenjiman flags during angry scenes at a demonstration called to show support for the government at a time when it is coming under criticism from the international community.

Thousands of protesters descended on Nakim square in the heart of the administrative new city in a show of support for the government. Many are angry at what they perceive as an unjust attack on the nation's honour while some, including certain outspoken senators, claim that the recent boycott of Lakhzovia by Rokkenjima, the threat of sanctions and their attempt to spread the boycott are being used as a form of collective punishment against the entire Lakhzov people due to Rokkenjiman displeasure at the recent treaty signing between Lakhzovia and Zachachevania.

While Rokkenjima is not alone in its criticism of the governments handling of the domestic crisis it is widely seen to be the ring leader in what many feel is an international witch hunt by a snubbed imperialist bloc. With so many believing that the ultimate aim of the imperialists is to weaken the country in order to force either a change of policy or leadership there is little surprise that the loyal people of Lakhzovia would turn out in their thousands to show their firm resolve in the face of imperialist threats.

Scenes turned tense at one point with demonstrators burning Rokkenjiman flags to chants of "People of the Lakhzov! Rokkenjima is death!1" effigies of Rokkenjiman officials were also defaced and burned by the increasingly angry crowd, however the demonstration eventually ended and dispersed with little in the way of violence with Nakim city police reporting only two arrest for minor fracas.

The government has promised to review all the options at its disposal to resolve the current diplomatic tussle. The Presidents office has indicated that they are drawing up proposals to demonstrate Lakhzovia's commitment to maintaining the rights of all minorities within the country.

1Translators Note: The word rendered here as 'death' is a Lakhzov word with no exact English counterpart. In essence it carries the meaning of irredeemable corruption or impurity, as akin to the corruption and impurity of death.

Military secure Tikur Market in Nakim after it was bombed earlier today

Lakhzovia has been rocked by a series of coordinated terror attacks against Lakhzov civilians. Powerful bombs were detonated in popular markets in three major Lakhzov cities within minutes of each other, resulting in hundreds of confirmed dead and many hundreds more injured.

The first reported detonation was in the capital city of Nakim at the heavily frequented Tikur Market. The blast came at 12:04 just as the market was reaching the peak of the trade day. Survivors report the panic that developed after the initial blast and that a number of people were killed in the subsequent stampede. In total over 150 have died so far in the capital.

Security personnel were immediate dispatched to the street and a city wide curfew was announced. Forensic teams are to begin searching for evidence while the Prefecture is reported to be reviewing all their recent intelligence. So far no one has claimed responsibility.

The next blast came at 12:05 in the troubled city of Khalin, the blast targeted the main market complex of the Lakhzov quarter of the city claiming at least 120 lives with many more missing and possibly trapped inside the burning warren of narrow alleys that make up this ancient market.

Emergency services are battling to get the fire under control leading them to believe that an incendiary bomb was used to maximize the damage.

Those victims able to talk with us upon their escape paint a terrifying picture of dark smoke filled passages, overturned tables and scattered limbs. The heat of fires, acrid smoke and screams of the injured have left them visibly shaken and emotional.

The final blast hit the Ruhaniya district in on the edge of Taldora's historic old city. The neighborhood had once hosted a heavy Utman population before the population fled during the war of independence, today the remaining Utman population lives in a tense standoff with the new Lakhzov residents.

Fearing that this attack could lead to violent repercussions and the outbreak of inter-communal violence the governor has called for calm and has ordered a complete curfew on the troubled neighborhood.

The Presidents office has promised a full response to this crisis and has given assurances that the perpetrators of these crimes will not go unpunished.

Terror Wave continues with deadly blast at Kadas Aranya Central Station

Kadas Aranya Central Station was bombed this morning, coming just days after the horrific bombing of markets across the country crushing hopes that the first attacks were a one off occurrence.

Three blasts were reported to have been heard within seconds of each other as the 08:50 suburban commuter service pulled in the the platform. Panic ensued as people desperately attempted to evacuate the station. As flames began to consume the carriages a desperate crush developed as people climbed out of windows, doors and roof vents.

So far 68 have been confirmed dead however with hundreds missing or unaccounted for that toll is liable to rise as the emergency services get the situation under control.

This latest attack in what is now being described as a terror wave by the security establishment has already provoked a strong reaction with the government ordering an immediate security review. Experts predict that the likely recommendations of the review will include a suspension of transit permits for Transmecuria, increased security on public transport including checkpoints at the entrance to all major stations and extension of curfew in the most troubled areas of the country.[/big]

Lakhzovia declares war on Helgara!

Posted Image
The Medaber Mamul, flagship of the naval task force supporting Zachachevanian operations against Helgara

This morning the government officially announced that it had declared war on the Helgaran Collective. Helgara, widely considered to be a pariah state, has been at the center of a diplomatic storm since it reneged on its obligations under international trade law by illegally seizing Zachachevanian assets and has further damaged their reputation through their disruption of the Cotif Aranye Partnership talks, culminating in their delegate staging a walk out.

This led to a tense stand off as Zachachevania instituted a blockade on the Krimeon coast of Helgara while the Collective requested a Spartan defensive presence. Analysts predicted that the Spartan force would at most delay the outbreak of hostilities, their surprise announcement of withdrawal led to the total disorganisation of the Helgaran defensive force leading Zachachevania to seize the opportunity to initiate operations.

Lakhzovia, already hosting much of the Zachachevanian force, has acted in accordance with our duty as an ally by declaring war on the recalcitrant Helgaran Collective. The Ministry of Defence has announced that the task force led by the Medaber Mamul has been diverted to offer support. The ministry has confirmed that they have not ruled out an expanded role which could see the Lakhzov airforce flying mission or even potentially Lakhzov boots on the ground.

Masked Utman terrorist murders 8 in shooting massacre

Firefighters use hose to wash blood from the street

A Masked Utman terrorist open fired in a busy market today killing eight and wounding a further 23. The attack came at 11am as the markets traffic was beginning to pick up. A witness reported that they heard a single initial shot fired followed by a terrible scream after which he heard frequent bursts of automatic gunfire.

Patrons of the market quickly ran for cover with many seeking refuge in shops, the owners locking the door to prevent the gunman access. The shooting continued for two minutes before the attacker was shot by a member of the Prefecture who had been near by and had rushed to investigate the sound of gunshots. The terrorist died at the scene from the gunshot wound he sustained in the act of subduing him.

In the aftermath the streets were red with blood, forensic investigations have been concluded and the fire brigade has begun the grisly business of cleaning the streets. The government has promised a crackdown on Utman terror and is soon to receive the report and recommendation from the Security Review Committee. The report is expected to recommend increased punitive measures to contain the violence and security actions to disrupt the terrorist networks.

In light of the deepening crisis the Senate has voted to extend the State of Emergency. This once every 5 year vote is a part of the obligatory review mandated by the Lakhzov constitution. The speaker of the Senate in announcing the result of the vote stated that "In voting in favour of the extension of the national State of Emergency, lawmakers here have given the nation the governmental stability and the necessary powers to carry out all reasonable actions to contain and eliminate the threat to national security."

New archeological find sheds light on the early days of Lakhzovia

Posted Image
The Rossetia fragment

There was much excitement in the Lakhzov archeological and scholarly community this week after it was announced that a team working in the Rossetia desert have discovered a fragment of papyrus bearing a phrase that perfectly matches a passage in the Takhmud. The papyrus has been dated to approximately 230BCE meaning it must have been penned within living memory of the prophet Naqim himself.

The small fragment bears the line:

"And Naqim went down to found the city of his name, and from there he returned to capture Kinere"

Such a find, if confirmed to be genuine, would demolish revisionist claims that the Takhmud was a product of generation of writers some six hundred years after the life of Naqsim, demonstrating as it does that written records of the Takhmud existed within a generation of the prophet.

It also raises an altogether more exciting prospect. The Rossetia desert is a sparsely populated area of the country and as far as historians are concerned it has never supported large scale settlement before the early modern period. This leaves as a mystery the true identity of the Rossetiyan tribe for who the region is named. The mystery is compounded by accounts in the Takhmud of a great kingdom in the area with a capital city that was a centre of trade and learning, these accounts have long been dismissed as a fable, poorly understood metaphor or an erroneous reference to the city of Oaz Kadassa which misplaced its location from the south to the north of the Rossetian desert.

However the discovery of the fragment written in the highly formalised old Lakhzov suggests that there may have been a nearby settlement that had reached sufficient size, wealth and influence to have scribes dedicated very early on to transcribing the Takhmud. Furthermore it would suggest a community culturally integrated in to the confirmed Lakhzov tribes of the period, suddenly the possibility that the Rossetiyans were real after all has popped up again in serious academic circles. A new team from the University of Nakim plans to begin to search for possible traces of the lost tribe in the area.

Hand of Emet militia steps up activity in troubled province

Posted Image
Hand of Emet militiamen patrol in the Lakhzov districts of Khalin

The Hand of Emet, the notorious Lakhzov militia formed during the civil war to protect the Lakhzov civilians of Transmecuria has begun to once again engage in highly visible patrols and territorial marking. Groups of armed militiamen bearing the movements flag have become a common sight in the Lakhzov districts of Transmecurian cities and even in the villages. Many neighborhoods advertise affiliation with the group by hanging Lakhzov and Emet flags in public view, a warning that an attack on the district or its inhabitants will call down the wrath of the militia.

The militia is trading off of its past reputation where it was feared by the Utman for their ruthless attacks on their settlements in revenge attacks for crimes committed against Lakhzov citizens. They apparently have made the decision to engage in open operations in response to the seemingly endless waves of violence that have been hitting the region.

The government has cautiously welcomed the new patrols with a domestic affairs spokesman saying "While we are always cautious when it comes to the involvement of non-state actors in the provision of domestic security it must be stated that at this juncture the government welcomes the initiative of the community which has raised up for itself its own defensive organisation. While the situation is not ideal the government welcomes the stability they are bringing while we conduct the longer struggle against the root of the crisis."

Government orders reopening of Mar Kotuf Naval Yards

Posted Image
Disused drydock at the Mar Kotuf Naval Yards

The government has today announced that as a part of the ongoing comprehensive security review the recommendation was received, and accepted, that it is in the best interests of the nations long term security needs to ensure that the identified naval weakness be addressed.

The navy has suffered over the past decade with many of the ageing ships inherited from the United Peoples' Republic reaching decommissioning age. With the prolonged civil war and the economic difficulties attrition warfare created the naval commissioning was low on the list of budget priorities.

However with Lakhzovia emerging as an increasingly influential player in west Cotif Aranye and the Krimeon there is a very real need for it to have successfully exercise naval power. This realisation was brought about in part by the navy's inability to effectively handle the refugee crisis which has seen thousands attempting to reach Lakhzovia's shores via boat. This coupled with the naked imperialism of Sparta across the Krimeon has led to the government prioritizing naval construction with dozens of new orders including three new classes of vessel already on the drawing board.

Recommissioning of the docks, the largest naval yards in Lakhzovia, is expected to take 14 months while training of staff is expected to be completed within 19 months. Once operating at full capacity it is expected that the docks could build up to 30 ships a year depending on class.

A government spokesman commented "The Lakhzov government takes the security of our nation very seriously, we have used the security review to appraise our long term needs and are acting to ensure those needs are met."

Naval Task Force to return to Taldora naval base

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence announced today that the naval task force led by the Md. Mamul will be returning to Taldora for resupply. The government has used the current lull in the war in order to recall the group for rearming, the outbreak of the Helgara conflict interrupted the task forces live fire exercises and caused them to arrive in Helgara poorly prepared for the theatre, it was therefore decided to seize the opportunity to reinforce Lakhzovia's ability to operate in the ongoing, if quiet for now, conflict.

A second consideration was the upcoming celebrations marking 100 years since Medaber Mamul first published his book 'The Pure Hearted State' which laid the foundations for the Lakhzov independence movement the fruit of which was realised in the reconstitution of Lakhzovia within the entirety of its historical homeland. It is believed that Kadassa was particularly insistent that the flagship, the symbol of Lakhzov naval power, sit in Nakim bay during the ceremony.

However some analysts have suggested that ulterior motives may be at play. Pointing to the ongoing tensions between Lakhzovia and Rokkenjima and the arrival of a unprecedented Rokkenjiman naval patrol in the Peniche bay some believe that the recall of the Mamul is in order to boost the Lakhzov naval presence in the bay region. While it is highly unlikely that the government will permit a standoff to develop they may feel that the Rokkenjiman provocation requires some form of response demonstrating Lakhzov authority in the area. This may not be far from the truth as sources within the government have suggested that they are preparing to make some diplomatic noise regarding the Rokkenjiman patrol.

Over 800 Arrested in Dawn Raids Amid Terror Crackdown

Posted Image
Territorial Support Officers close roads during a raid in Kadas Aranya that saw 23 arrested

Officers of the Territorial Support Agency (TSA) working in tandem with the Prefectures Counter-Insurgency Division (PCID) descended on troubled Utman neighborhoods in a coordinated series of dawn raids across the country. A statement released by the TSA confirmed that 893 suspects had been arrested during what is being billed as phase one of the long awaited crackdown on terror and incitement.

Officers began to maneuver in to position in the early hours of the morning before launching raids across the country at 04.40AM. The highest number of arrests were reported from the Duwarbesh district of Khalin where over three hundred arrests were made. Suspects are reported to have been transported to local police stations for processing, with officials suggesting that they will be relocated to a prison in Rossetia to await trial.

The TSA has confirmed that as a part of their raids they have seized a cache of light arms as well as stocks of materials that contravene the Restricted Agents Act of 1998 including a 25 kilogram sack of ammonium nitrate discovered in one apartment. Ammonium nitrate, commonly used as a fertilizer, was added to the controlled agents list as when combined in the correct ratio with fuel oil produces a powerful explosive. As the import and distribution of the material is tightly licensed officers believe that the discovery should aid them in tracing the illegal distribution network the Utman terrorists have been utilising for bomb production.

Lakhzovia Celebrates Medaber Mamul Day

Posted Image
Medaber Izmis Mamul, 1916

Lakhzovia today celebrates the centenary of the publication of the first edition of Medaber Izmis Mamul's era defining revolutionary book 'Hegam sheil Helev-Taqhoriyn' - The Pure Hearted Nation. This book, a masterpiece of philosophy, put forward the moral imperative to reclaim and redeem the land. Through use of historical research, detailied study of the Takhmud and arguments from the moral logic Medaber Mamul demonstrated that not only was Lakhzov rule of Lakhzovia a natural right but also that it was a moral duty for every Lakhzovian to work to this end.

This marked the birth of the Lakhzovian liberation movement, and today all factions which actively participated in the war of independence trace themselves back to the first organisation founded by Mamul in 1918. Growing to an impressive size by 1926 it came under attack from the ruling regime of the recently established "United Peoples' Republic", the repression saw many activists arrested and tortured before being executed for treason against the "Peoples'" revolution. Medaber Mamul himself was deported to the Iltai Fortress where he was held as a prisoner until his death in 1947.

However despite being banned Mamul's book continued to circulate with underground print houses producing illegal copies for distribution. Mamul's fractured organisation at first attempted to regroup before factional differences led to its split into a number of successors, many of which worked together to finally realise the dream of many generations.

In celebration of this anniversary President Kadassa ordered that February 22nd be a national holiday in which "...citizens can take the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of our martyrs struggles and as we enjoy the festivals, parades and family meals to remember how those who work with pure hearts and steadfastness can overcome all obstacles."

At the pinnacle of the celebrations in New Nakim President Kadassa gave a speech from the Presidential Platform in which he announced to thunderous applause that the most recent economic data, shortly to be released, shows that Lakhzov real GDP has now passed its previous high. This indicates that the economy has not only recovered to pre-independence levels, but that it has actually surpassed this.

Kadassa also announced a plan to end the blight of poverty in the resource rich Utman regions by instituting a works scheme. Under the plan Utman will be provided with secure employment in schemes actively developing the infrastructure and economic power of their local region, this project is designed to uplift the Utman people and aid their integration into the national economic life.

The Union of Nordic People has been left in ruin after a meteor struck the heart of their country destroying the economic heart of the nation with reports that the capital is in ruins. The death count has not been finalised but experts predict a heavy toll on life.

The Office of the President issued a statement shortly after the news first broke. In it a call for calm and reassurances that Lakhzovia is in no immediate danger. Calling the unfolding situation a disaster at which all humanity weeps President Kadassa has pledged to offer any assistance required in the international effort to respond.

The President's Office also confirmed that Kadassa has cancelled his meetings for tomorrow and called for an emergency meeting of the Presidential Advisory Group to assess Lakhzovia's long term response to the Mundus shaking events.

Milestone reached as GDP breaks previous high

Posted Image
Large, government funded projects such as the Kertantz ferrous ore mine (pictured)
have laid the groundwork for rapid economic expansion

The government was celebrating today after the release of figures showing that Lakhzovia's GDP has exceeded its previous pre-war high. Lakhzovia's GDP today stands at US$317.5Bn , ahead of the previous highest figure of US$311.4Bn recorded thirty five years ago.

Growth has been primarily driven by the increased output in heavy industry with mining, steel and concrete sectors showing the sharpest increase. The increased investment in infrastructure has also paid off in facilitating the growth of manufacturing including a number of high tech industries focusing on aerospace, meta-materials and electronics; the government has also sought to stimulate the pharmaceutical sector through government subsidies.

However the news is not all positive as the figures also show that the agricultural sector has not only failed to achieve its pre-war level of output but has almost ceased growing suffering a decade long period of stagnation. Experts suggest a number of possible factors including continued damage from the war, the increasing severity of winter flooding in Transmecuria and the economic alienation of the Utman farmers from the wider market.

The government has commissioned an investigative committee study the problem in detail and provide recommendations to the government.

Archaeologists announce significant historical discovery

Posted Image
Old Lakhzov inscription (enhanced bottom right) discovered in the Mausoleum of
Hardwari, part of an epitaph for Gamal Hawadiy

The archaeological community of Lakhzovia has been abuzz with excitement after rumors emerged in academic circles of a significant discovery in relation to the Mausoleum of Hardwari conservation project. The project team called a press conference for this morning in which they announced their discovery.

They announced that they had discovered the lost tomb of Gamal Hawadiy, the 11th century architect of the Askrati Shrine, the second holiest site in the Emetist religion. Long considered one of the great figures of Lakhzov and Emetist history the fate of his tomb was lost to history. During the conference the team recounted how they made the discovery during preparation work for the relocation of the structure. While removing Utman fresco for preservation a dressed stone lintel was discovered, as plaster was removed and the surface cleaned up they were astonished to find carved decoration and an inscription in old Lakhzov.

The inscription was a part of an epitaph dedicated to Gamal Hawadiy and appears to be a part of the original structure prior to its renovation after its damage in a major earthquake. One historian from the University of Nakim has speculated that the erroneous claim that the tomb was the resting place of the Utman poet Hardwari arose from the similarity of their names combined with the superstitious nature of the peasantry.

The Chief Medaber of Khalin has reportedly declared his intention to file a claim in the Court of Disputations for control of the shrine in its new location to be handed to his office in order to be consecrated and administered as an Emetist holy site. The suggestion has already sparked outrage among Utman community leaders who have threatened that they would not be able to control the outpouring of anger that such a move would generate.

Heaviest rainy season in a century leaves thousands displaced across the hill country

Posted Image
The Utman village of Dawesh, destroyed when the Kishmon river burst its banks

The withdrawal of this springs rainy season is now under way. Although the rains have eased across a good part of the North West, they do remain heavy over Grahz, parts of Kakh, and along the far northeast of Rossetia.

The situation remains critical in Transmecuria where 26 people died in the latest round of flooding. As many as 85,000 people require shelter with 214 relief camps being set up by the government.

The city of Dibrukh recorded 56mm on Saturday. The Kishmon River and many of its tributaries have breached their banks following the heavy downpours resulting in some damage to homes, roads, bridges and power lines.

There are 18 districts across Transmecuria still affected by the floods. This rainy reason has been the heaviest on record with twice the annual average falling during the season. Meteorologists at the Lakhzovia Climate Centre claim that the increased severity of the rains is due to fine particulates circulating in the atmosphere after the meteor strike in Ayland.

The government has promised swift action to provide relief to those affected by the flooding and has announced that they will be accelerating the hill country damming scheme in order to gain control over the unpredictable flooding of the territory.

Huge oil discovery boost Lakhzovia's prospects

Posted Image
For illustrative purposes

A monster offshore oil discovery could help Lakhzovia join the ranks of the world's major exporters, but full-scale extraction is unlikely for a number of years.

The shallow water Tupi field in the Peniche Bay off the coast of Mar Kotuf could hold as much as eight billion barrels of recoverable light crude, and initial production should exceed 100,000 barrels daily, said Giron Tirescu, exploration and production director of Lakhzovian state oil company Petroliy Lakhzovia (Petrolakh).

Petrolakh will start pilot pumping in 2017 or 2018 but full production would take a number more years, Tirescu said on Thursday.

Lakhzov Institute of Energy analyst Tula Nitzin estimated the value of the oil in the block at $25 billion to $60 billion depending on international prices. Tupi "is immense and marks the beginning of a new horizon for Lakhzovia," she said.

"Tapping the Tupi field will cost billions of dollars, but Petrolakh is flush with cash for strategic investments because of the generous budget allocated by the government, however discussions are underway regarding the possibility of speeding the development of the fields through allowing foreign investment and partnership projects; though of course the government will reserve the most promising areas around the Tupi field for Petrolakh."

Petrolakh chief executive Senam Oyili said the Tupi field is "only part of a new frontier" for Lakhzovian oil exploration.

Looming agricultural crisis as spring floods see late crop sowing drop by 30%

Posted Image
A farming family in the hill country sowing fields by traditional methods during the spring sowing season.

The recent floods has caused a drop of 30% in sowing of spring crops, the Ministry of Agriculture said, amid growing fears for this year's dismal conditions having knock-on effects on 2017 and potentially 2018 harvests too.

The Ministry said that "approximately 70% of target arable [planting] has been completed to date in the Lakhzovia", below a figure of 100% usually by now.

The estimate represents one of the first of the extent of the delays caused by the floods which have displaced tens of thousands of farmers across Transmecuria. With many hundreds of villages abandoned there is a very real concern that many fields will go untended causing a significant drop in the harvest. The government has confirmed that the crisis is on the agenda for the next Presidential Advisory Group meeting and will be treated as a matter of priority.

Guest Editorial: The Utman Question
By Danoi Yishveliy, Chief Medaber of Khalin

Posted Image

It is generally a good rule to commence an article with its most important point, however this time, I find it necessary to begin with an introduction, and, moreover, with a personal introduction.

I am reputed by some to hold a particular hatred of the Utman people, who wants to have them driven from Lakhzovia, and so forth. This is simply not true.

Emotionally, my attitude to the Utman is the same as to all other nations – polite indifference. Politically, my attitude is decided by two principles. Firstly, I consider it simply impossible to purge the Utman from Lakhzovia. There will always be Utman in Lakhzovia – which is good enough for me, provided that us Lakhzov remain in control of our entire ancestral homeland. And secondly, I belong to the group that thirty years ago drafted the Lakhzov National Programme, specifically the sections on the rights for all nationalities living in the State. In drawing up that programme, we had in mind not only the Lakhzov, Axicz and Utman, but all nations everywhere, and its basis is equality of rights. This seems to me a fairly peaceful credo.

But it is quite another question whether it is possible to realise a peaceful aim by peaceful means. For the answer to this question does not depend on our attitude to the Utman, but on the attitude of the Utman to us and our right to self-rule in our own homeland.

Now, after this introduction, we may proceed to the subject.

There can be no voluntary agreement between ourselves and the Utman. Not now, nor in the near future. I say this with conviction, not because I want to hurt my moderate Lakhzov brethren. I do not believe that they will be hurt. Except for those who were born blind, they realised long ago that it is utterly impossible to obtain the voluntary consent of the Utman people for reverting "The Utman Free State" from an Utman controlled territory into the Lakhzov province of Transmecuria.

Every population considering itself native, civilised or not, regards the lands in lives on as its national home, of which it is, or should be the sole master, and it wants to retain that mastery always; it will refuse to admit not only new masters but, even new partners or collaborators.

Utman Not Fools

This is equally true of the Utman. Our Peace-mongers are trying to persuade us that the Utman are either fools, who we can deceive by masking our real aims, or that they are corrupt and can be bribed to abandon to us their claim to priority in Transmecuria, in return for cultural and economic advantages. I utterly reject this conception of the Utman. Culturally they are five hundred years behind us, they have neither our endurance nor our determination; but they are just as good psychologists as we are, and their minds have been sharpened like ours by centuries of ideological conflict. We may tell them whatever we like about the innocence of our aims, feeding them sweet words to make what we intend palatable, but they know what we want, as well as we know what they do not want. They feel at least the same instinctive jealous love of Transmecuria as we do.

To imagine then, as some seem to, that they will voluntarily consent to the exercise of full Lakhzov sovereignty, in return for the moral and material conveniences which our economic development plans bring, is a foolish and misguided idea, which has at its root a sort of contempt for the Utman people; which they regard as an ignorant and corrupt mob that can be bought and sold, and are willing to give up their homeland for a good railway system and a construction job.

There is no justification for such a notion. It may be that some individual Utman do take bribes, but that does not mean that the Utman people of Transmecuria as a whole will sell that fervent patriotism that they guard so jealously. Every population in the world resists as long as it has the slightest hope of being able to rid itself of the its perceived enemy.

That is what the Utman in Transmecuria are doing, and what they will continue to do as long as there remains a a single, weak ember of hope that they will be able to prevent the transformation of "the Utman homeland" into "Transmecuria".

In frankness we cannot offer any compensation to the Utman in return for Transmecuria that will ever be considered acceptable. Therefore, there is no possibility of any voluntary agreement ever being reached. This leaves us with one conclusion, the redemption of our land can proceed and develop only under the protection of military and political power exercised with the fullest of force – we will rebuild our land from behind an iron wall of guns, which the native population cannot hope to breach.

Two brief remarks:

In the first place, if anyone claims that this point of view is immoral, I answer: It is not true: either Lakhzov rule of our ancestral and eternal homeland is moral and just ,or it is immoral and unjust. But that is a question that we should have settled before we embarked on dismantling the United Peoples' Republic. Actually we have settled that question, and in the affirmative.

We hold that Lakhzov sovereignty over the entirety of its historical range is moral and just. And since it is moral and just, justice must be done, no matter whether Racip Uttman or the Utman Liberation Organisation agree or not. There is no other morality.

Secondly, this does not mean that there can never be any agreement with the Utman. What is impossible is a voluntary agreement. As long as the Utman feel that there is the narrowest hope of freeing themselves from us they will refuse to give up this hope in return for either guarantees or for material comfort, because they are not animals, but a living people. When a living people finally yield in such vital matters it is only when there is no longer any hope of of ever obtaining their freedom because they can make no breach against our defences. Not until such a time as this comes about will they ever drop their extremist leaders, whose slogan is "Never!" but once finally their dreams of Utman domination have be utterly shattered the leadership will pass to the moderate groups, who will approach us with a proposal that we should both agree to mutual concessions. Then we may expect them to discuss practical questions with honesty, such as a guarantee against Utman displacement, the lifting of the State of Emergency and dismantling of the security apparatus with which we are strangling them in to submission.

When that happens, I am convinced that we Lakhzov will be found ready to give them satisfactory guarantees, so that both peoples can live together in peace, like good neighbours.

However the only way to obtain such an agreement, is through the imposition of our sovereignty through the force of our arms. In other words, the only way to reach a peace in the future is the abandon the nonsense pursuit of peace in the present.

Date set for Mausoleum of Hardwari Disputation

Posted Image

The Court of Disputations has released a notification of impending disputation on the status of the Mausoleum of Hardwari. The Mausoleum, long considered a minor Utman religious site, was due to be relocated in order to prevent its destruction when the valley in which it sat was to be flooded as a result of the Kashani Dam Project. An archaeological survey of the site during preparations to relocate the monument to higher ground yielded a surprising discovery. On a carved stone lintel which once would have been a part of the entrance way of the original structure was an inscription in old Lakhzov script providing the name of the man interred within as Gamal Hawadiy, a known Lakhzov figure who's burial site was believed lost. Hawadiy is most famous as the architect who drew the plans for the Askrati Shrine, the second holiest site in Emetist religion.

Shortly after the team announced their discovery Danoi Yishveliy Chief Medaber of Khalin released a statement indicating his intention to file a claim with the Court of Disputations. Utman community leaders have condemned the move and claim that there is a coordinated plot to systematically destroy their peoples historical connection to the land in order to justify continued land appropriations against them. Racip Uttaman the chairman of the Utman Liberation Organisation who is believed to be coordinating Utman violence from within neighbouring Wegry-Szwecja has outrageously labelled the act "..an example of the concerted effort to remove all trace of our people from our own homeland; that is, a cultural genocide."

Medaber Yishveliy hit back stating that "Uttaman and the ULO are engaging in grotesque historical revisionism. Recognising their own lack of historical ties to this land is a source of great unease to the Utman Nationalists. It's as if they know in the depth of their conscience that there is no justice in their cause, yet their sense of having been wronged demands to be satisfied. They have found their apparent escape from this trap through manipulation of history in order to write themselves into the rich tapestry of our lands history. Yet even their oldest 'established' historical sites turn out to be the cultural property of the Lakhzov people and Emetist faith, even the tombs of their hero's declare the lie that is their claim to an historical right to this land.

However leaving emotions aside the facts remain that this tomb has been shown to be that of a prominent figure of Lakhzov history, a man who no less than designed and oversaw construction of one of our peoples holiest shrines. The respect that such a figure warrants combined with our duty in Emet to ensure that dignity is provided in death to one of our own great sons leaves us with very little choice but to pursue the return of the tomb to the Lakhzov people as a part of our heritage through the Court.

The Utman may complain that we are trying to cut them off from the land, however the details of the case itself demonstrate that they have been beset with projection. Let us not forget that the engraved name of the tombs Lakhzov occupant was plastered over by the Utman, bearing testament to an act of cultural theft, dispossession and attempt to sever the ties of the Lakhzov community in the valley to the land. All the crimes they accuse us of wishing to inflict on them are in fact the crimes they have already committed against us."

The first round of disputations are scheduled to begin early next month.

Police Raid Illegal Utman Slaughterhouse: Rescue 48 Cattle

Posted Image
The consumption and slaughter of meat is illegal
in Lakhzovia, however the practice continues
among the Utman population.

The Transmecuria Provincial Police on Wednesday raided an illegal slaughter house operating on a private land in the Utman village of Hansapi and rescued 48 animals. Severed heads of seven bovines were also found during the operation.

After getting an anonymous call, the District Commander Ashibash Kandah along with Haypurah police team rushed to the spot in the afternoon. "The place had compound wall on all four sides and also two rooms. Apart from rescuing 48 cattle including cows, calves and bullocks, we also seized seven severed heads of bovines, indicating that the animals were being slaughtered illegally,". "We have taken the accused, Kasi Tarquz, in custody," said Kandah.

The District Commander also said that the accused has been booked for violation of the 'Basic Law on the Prohibition of Slaughter', which bans slaughter of all livestock as a part of the Emetist religious ban on the production and consumption of meat within Lakhzovia. Veterinary officer Dr Mahal Lebi, who examined the severed heads, confirmed that they were leftovers of the slaughtered bovines. "They were found in very bad conditions and it is difficult to identify whether they are of cows or bullocks," he said. He added that the rescued animals were shifted to a state cattle shelter.

Sources said the private slaughter house was operating in the area for a considerable time. "The slaughtering practice took a break for some days after the announcement of meat ban but started again subtly," they said. Infoi Yedayi has been reporting how the decades long ban on meat consumption in the country has driven the trade of meat underground. In the last two months, more than ten cases of illegal transportation of cattle have come up at different areas of Transmecuria. Animal activists and various Medaberin fear that this is just the tip of the iceberg and that more illegal slaughter houses are operating in the region.

"Strong enforcement of the ban is needed as illegal slaughter continues in the province." said Kadassa. "The consumption of flesh for food is a spiritually repugnant act. One who engages in the practice of eating death defiles the living soul that was gifted to them through Emet and in doing so become impure. The centuries of Utman rule led to the defilement of the land, our pure land was contaminated by the abominations the Utman slaughterers perform. We are now in the process of redeeming our country, we will continue to work to crush this industry of death, however long it may take."

High ranking Utman Liberation Organisation leaders arrested

Posted Image
Aftermath of Tikur Market bombing, believed to have been carried
out by the ULO

May, 05 –– Lakhzov television today triumphantly broadcast footage of captured Utman rebel chiefs responsible for the coordinated terror attacks over the past year. The men who were blindfolded and handcuffed, appeared to be in some pain as they were escorted by a Lakhzov security detail.

The first pictures of the men following their dramatic capture by Prefecture agents as they attempted to flee the country late Monday offered millions of Lakhzov irrefutable proof that some of the country's most-wanted men were in the hands of the authorities.

"Welcome to your country; you are our guest now," a security agent in a black ski mask told the men in the broadcast before trading high-fives with other members of the detail.

The leaders face a host of charges stemming from their role as heads of the Transmecuria branch of the outlawed Utman Liberation Organisation (ULO), which the Lakhzov government blames for the deaths of an estimated 30,000 people in the rebel group's decades long campaign to create an Utman homeland in north western Lakhzovia. Their arrests ended a four-month fugitive odyssey that began when they fled Khalin after the Prefecture began closing in. It continued with them deciding to leave the country for Lakhzovia's western neighbour who already hosts the heads of the ULO. From their hiding place in Mar Kotuf they sought to acquire a boat to take them to their destination but were intercepted before they were able to leave the harbour.

President Kadassa reiterated today that the men would be given a "fair and just" trial and said their interrogation had begun at the Iltai fortress, which is situated on the Isle of Iltai in the Nakim bay off the coast of Nakim city. Officials said that the fortress and island would be closed to tourists to accommodate the men and the security force guarding them.

Lakhzov officials to investigate spate of anti-Utman vandalism

Posted Image
Graffiti on a door in Ma'alet Avona reads 'Death to Utman'

Hate graffiti was discovered on the walls and front doors of Utman homes in the Ma'alet Avona neighbourhood of Khalin, on Thursday morning.

The scrawled messages read “Lakhzov wake up” and “Death to Utman”, as well as red hand prints which are historically connected with the marking of plague houses for fumigation. Security forces are investigating.

The incident was the latest in a rash of acts of vandalism that authorities suspect are part of the “act-for-act” campaign that the Hand of Emet militia and their supporters have allegedly been waging.

Earlier this week, Defense Minister Izidor Shuziye said that act-for-act attacks fall short of the state classification of terrorism but that they do constitute hate crimes. The minister lashed out at the international voices who he accused of wrongly attacking the state of Lakhzovia for crimes against the Utman, hours after two cars were torched in an Utman village and a day after a group of Lakhzov men were trapped while allegedly en route to vandalize another village.

“The unacceptable phenomenon called a 'act-for-act' attack is, in my eyes, a terrible crime in every sense of the word,” said Shuziye. “We are acting and will act to locate and contain the elements which are damaging the Lakhzov cause and reputation internationally.”

On Wednesday morning, an Utman restaurant owner in the village of Madaza, near Khalin, was startled to find a number of Lakhzov vandals outside his business, according to the NGO 'Utman Rights Monitor'.

The man claimed that two cars had been torched and that there was graffiti on the wall in red paint, reading, “Revenge for the 26,” and a red hand print. The graffiti referenced the 26 Lakhzov families that had formerly lived in Madaza but who had been forced from their homes during the country's post-partition crisis and who are involved in a lengthy legal battle to reclaim their former properties.

He unsuccessfully tried to stop the vandals from fleeing in their car, he reported, adding that they then tried to run him over. The interaction between them, he told Utman Rights Monitor, happened very quickly, and he was not able to write down the license plate number.

Foreign journalist arrested on Espionage and Terror charges

Posted Image
FMN journalist Juli Anderik, charged with espionage and terror offences

The Ministry of Justice today confirmed that a foreign journalist employed by the Free Mundus Network has been arrested in Khalin and is set to face charges of espionage and of supporting terror.

The journalist was apprehended in Khalin shortly after a meeting with a known ULO activist and sister of a convicted Utman terrorist. Prefecture watchers who had been monitoring activity in the Kalendiya market swooped in on her as she sought to cross through the local security cordon to return to her hotel. Bystanders report that she had been on the phone when approached by the Prefecture officers, became agitated and started shouting in English before she was forcefully subdued.

Prefecture officers raided her hotel room a short time later and an inspection of her belongings reveal that she was in possession of an illegal unregistered satellite phone, an unlicensed canister of pepper spray, and a laptop containing scans of highly sensitive confidential documents belonging to the Lakhzov government.

Anderik has been under interrogation for a number of days while the Prefecture is scrutinizing her links and the Free Mundus Network itself. A spokesman for the Presidents Office said "We are aware of the gravity of this situation, the arrest of a journalist is never something to be done unless absolutely necessary, press freedom is a cornerstone of a healthy society. However in the current case of Ms Anderik the line between investigative journalism and criminal activity has been crossed. We have sufficient evidence to prosecute Ms Anderik with both terror and espionage offences, to this are added additional charges including the filing of false travel itineraries with the Transit Registry, false representation to obtain a Press Visa and possession of unregistered controlled items. Questions must also be asked about the character of the Free Mundus Network for them to allow their staff to engage in such activity raises questions of criminal liability."

The Free Mundus Network has historically taken a negative line towards the Lakhzov Republic and has devoted a number of articles to the Utman cause. The news site is widely considered to be biased towards the Utman and some have called for its journalists to be banned from the country, a call that is likely to be repeated in the wake of this arrest.

If convicted at trial, Anderik could face up to 73 years in prison.

Military Unveils Missile Programme

Posted Image
The Lakhzov Ballistic Missile (LBM-01) the newest addition to our nation's arsenal

The Military today revealed the existence of a long running project to develop a ballistic missile capability. The project itself has come to fruition with the Lakhzov Ballistic Missile type 01 (LBM-01) coming into commission next month. The LBM was designed and tested in secrecy in order to provide Lakhzovia with a defensive capability against foreign intervention, with the international pressure Lakhzovia was under until the recent thaw with Rokkenjima the government decided that knowledge of the programme might be used as a pretext for an attack.

The government has said "..that while a decision had been taken in the past to keep the project a closely guarded secret, the increasing instability and tension in the world demands that action be taken to ensure security in Lakhzovia's immediate region. This programme is purely defensive, the missile do not have the range to be used offensively against the nations of the world, rather that are designed specifically for the defense requirements peculiar to Lakhzovia. In announcing this addition to our defensive arsenal we are signalling that we seek to threaten no one but are prepared and able to defend ourselves."

The military has informed us that the LBM-01 was primarily designed as an anti-ship missile with a range that allows it to hit a target within the Peniche Bay giving Lakhzovia a strong line of defense against a naval incursion. However the system is flexible and can be adapted to strike hardened positions on land as well. The system is expected to go into full service in three months time and will form a central part of the nations sea defence until the Mar Kotuf Naval Yard begins largescale production.

Government Drops Charges Against Journalist

The government has announced that it has withdrawn its charges against Juli Anderik who had been arrested on suspicion of espionage and giving support to terror after President Kadassa personally interceded.

In Briefing the press Kadassa said "Press freedom is of vital importance in any healthy society and Lakhzovia truly values the contribution of a multiplicity of voices on uncomfortable topics. However journalists must understand that with the power they wield comes responsibilities. Ms Anderik and the Free Mundus Network have been behaving in a manner unfitting of their profession and committed acts that skirt the boundaries of very serious crimes. However I do not feel that Anderik was acting with malice or intent, she overstepped the line but did so unwittingly. I therefore have decided to order that the charges against her be dropped and that she be deported back to her country of origin."

Lakhzovia back online after severe damage to communication network

Posted Image
A diver performs final checks on a replaced stretch of fibre optic

Lakhzovia has finally been reconnected to the global communications network after a severe network failure plunged the country into an information blackout. The crisis was caused by serious damage to the submarine trunk fibre optic cable that provides Lakhzovia's main connection to the global internet. While internal communications were not as severely affected the banking and financial sector initial suffered a loss of competitiveness as they had to route communications through a number of countries via the outdated network through our land borders.

The cable appears to have been severed and investigators postulate that the damage was caused by an anchor or dredge. Illegal dredging for antiquities is a common issue in the coastal waters of the bay where numerous historical shipwrecks have littered the sea floor with treasures. Some have suggested however that the damage may have been a deliberate act of sabotage by a rival power in the Peniche and investigators have confirmed that they will be considering such a possibility as a part of their final report.

Riots break out as Court of Disputations gives ruling on contested Shrine

Posted Image
The contested Mausoleum of Hardwari

The Court of Disputations announcement today of their decision regarding the status of the heavily contested Mausoleum of Hardwari was met with violent riots in Utman districts of cities across Lakhzovia with rioting in Khalin particularly severe where it is reported that ethnic Lakhzov have been attacked with a number of businesses and one home torched. Police have regained control of large parts of the city but are still working to bring order back to the worst affected areas.

The riots were a response to the decision by the court to assign the post Lakhzov structure of the Mausoleum to the Utman while recognising the human remains and pre-Utman structural elements to be the cultural property of the Lakhzov nation ordering control to be transferred to the Office of the Medaber of Khalin, a position currently held by the controversial and outspoken Medaber Danoi Yishveliy.

The Utman claim that the tomb and remains within are those of a minor Utman saint and the site is of particular spiritual significance to the Utman of the Ashanti valley region. However recent discoveries made during efforts to save the shrine from dam construction reveal that the occupant of the tomb was in fact Hawardiy, a prominent Lakhzov figure who was the chief architect of the Askrati Shrine.

The riots mark a break in the months long relative peace and many fear they represent the beginning of a new wave of violence against Lakhzov civilians. The already tense situation has been compounded by rumours that the Medaber of Khalin, emboldened by the victory, is looking to put in a case for the Askrati Shrine to be returned to Lakhzov control.

Construction underway on new Milekh Class Destroyer

Posted Image
The first of the new Milekh class destroyer under construction in the Mar
Kotuf naval yards

Construction is underway on the first of a new class of native produced destroyers which the Ministry of Defence has paraded as proof of Lakhzovia's growing ability to exert a stabilising influence in the local region. The Milekh Class are the largest destroyers ever to be constructed at Mar Kotuf Naval Docks and required a two year long programme of modernisation for the defunct yards to meet the requirements for construction.

The construction process itself has been significantly accelerated by the implementation of modular construction methods and just in time delivery of components from manufacturing sites across the country. The Milekh class share similar dimensions to the Askrati class which they are intended to replace, however they have 2,363 modifications which include major upgrades in weaponry, sensors and helicopter systems. With a standard displacement of 6,800 tons and a full-load displacement of 7,400 tons, they are the largest destroyers ever built by the Lakhzov Navy.

The class is the first stealth destroyer in the Lakhzov navy and marks a turning point in the nation's ability to provide naval security, while some in the Ministry of Defence have hinted that the new emphasis on naval capability could allow Lakhzovia to better act as a stabilising force in the Krimeon and Mhorish seas. Speaking anonymously a source close to the government said "The feeling in the government at present is that there is a global tendency towards greater instability, with a number of worrying flash points threatening to explode. With piracy in the Illumic, military interventions into ever increasing ethnic and factional crises the concern is that events may unfold in such a manner as requires Lakhzovia to actively defend itself. The orientation towards naval defence has always been a long term goal, however the recent emphasis is to produce a Lakhzov navy capable of projecting deterrent power beyond the Peniche Bay."

Utman community comes under attack from Hand of Emet after riots

An Utman House of Worship burns after Hand of Emet
attacks in Khalin

Today Utman homes, businesses, schools and community buildings in Khalin came under attack from the Hand of Emet militia in what appears to be an escalation of the 'measure for measure' campaign. Figures have not yet been released for the estimated damage or injury, so far there are reports of at least five dead as a direct result of the militia's actions.

The attacks are believed to be a response to the violent riots by the Utman community which terrorised the Lakhzov community of Khalin three days ago. Shocked crowds gathered near an Utman House of Prayer which was torched by the militia, while some reports have come in of groups of Utman roaming the fringes of the Lakhzov district and attacking easy Lakhzov targets. One Lakhzov woman has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed repeatedly by an Utman assailant who was killed during the attack by a Prefecture Officer who happened to be nearby.

The Medaber of Khalin has called for "calm vigilance" in the Lakhzov community with the message that "All Lakhzov people should choose the path of peace. I implore you not to rise to the provocations of the Utman, do not allow them to pull your soul down to the animal level of theirs. I ask all Lakhzov, for the edification of our people, to remain within your homes and communities, do not set out to do violenceto the Utman. However should they come to your home or community and seek to do you harm it is your moral duty to go to the defence of your neighbour, it is your obligation in such a situation to do whatever is necessary to preserve the lives of our people."

The government has ordered an increase in the number of Civil Defence Guards deployed to Khalin and has cancelled all leave for key emergency service workers. The President's Office has called for calm and an end to provocations on both sides.

Lost city of Rossetiya discovered!

Posted Image
Archaeologists discovered evidence of an advanced and wealthy city (pictured)

Archaeologists from the University of Nakim have announced the discovery of a city they believe to be the lost city of Rozetiya from which the modern day Rossetia province gets its name. Mentioned in the Takhmud the city played a significant role in the religious development of the Lakhzov Amphictyonic league after which it disappeared from the narrative.

Long dismissed as a myth or allegory by scholars and historians the discovery of a fragment of an ancient copy of the Takhmud provided the first clue that perhaps the city had indeed existed. A team from the University of Nakim set out to perform a survey of the area a number of months after the discovery of the Rossetia Fragment. The expected that should they find anything at all it would most likely be a small trading outpost, closer to a caravan stop than a major cultural centre. Having studied satellite images of the region they determined a number of possible sites, finally narrowing it down to one which they believed would be most likely to have been a city site.

The site they selected was a large flat topped hill situated on the bend of a former river revealed by aerial surveys. After a short time inspecting the remote area it became clear that the site was a promising candidate with numerous ceramic shards found on the surface. Excavation revealed an astonishingly advanced city with paved streets, sewers, water cisterns and stone houses matching well the descriptions of the wealthy capital of a trade empire found in the Takhmud. Team leader Dr. Tanezkhu said "This discovery will force historians to revise their existing theories regarding the early Lakhzov era and opens up exciting new avenues of archaeological, historical and scholarly research. One of the great mysteries of history has been resolved, it is a very exciting time for us."

Posted Image
The blue line shows the current course of the river while
the red shows its path during the time the city was occupied.

The city is now believed to have been abandoned when the river that provided it with its water and supported local agriculture changed its course after a landslide triggered by an earthquake forced it along a new path to Lake Ceouz.

The discovery has drawn comment from religious leaders with the Medaber of Khalin Danoi Yishveliy to remark that "The discover of Rozetiya provides further validation for the accuracy and validity of the Takhmud as the genuine and enduring history of this land. The Lakhzov people rejoice in being reunited with our glorious history."

President Kadassa is said to have called Dr. Tanezkhu to personally congratulate and thank him on behalf of the Lakhzov nation for his outstanding contribution to the our understand of our past.

Lakhzovia increases aerial patrols in response to conflict in Vaimeria

Posted Image
The airforce has begun regular patrols of the eastern airspace amid fears of rising tensions
(Pictured: The Lakhzov built Barak II Multi-role light fighter)

The Ministry of Defence announced today that Lakhzovia will be stepping up aerial patrols along the Vaimeria border, while they claim the move is precautionary they also confirmed that should the situation deteriorate further that they are authorised to begin targeted bombing of separatist infrastructure.

The conflict in Vaimeria has been worsening in recent weeks and has seen emergency meetings called across Western Cotf Aranye while there are indications that Malson is already active on the ground in the conflict zone. While the government has stressed that they would prefer a non-violent resolution to the current ethnic tensions within Vaimeria should the situation deteriorate they have vowed to take direct action to prevent a victory for the separatists.

The concern is that a successful bid by an ethnic separatist movement on the Cotf Peninsula will exacerbate existing ethnic tensions within Lakhzovia and its surrounding nations. Given the complicated demography of the region and the joint challenges facing the regions nations it is expected that the government will seek to establish a multilateral defence and security agreement between the Cotf Peninsula states.

Terror at sea as explosive laden fishing boat rams ferry

Posted Image
The Nakim Line vessel Medaber Yistaq in flames after terror attack

Terror struck on the waves today after terrorist rammed the Medaber Yistaq, a passenger ferry operated by the Nakim Bay Line, causing significant damage. The attack occurred at 11:32 as the Yistaq approached the center of the bay on its voyage from Mercu to Herzilya, one of the busiest and most economically important shipping routes.

Crew members have reported that the ferry had picked up a small vessel on their anti-collision radar and had attempted to make contact. The vessel, a fishing trawler, sailed at full power into the side of the ferry in the process detonating a large store of explosives that it had been packed with.

Luckily there have been no reported deaths and few minor injuries from the incident, with passengers and crew being evacuated from the ship shortly after. Security forces have been put on high alert after the attack and all ferries have been cancelled until Friday as a precautionary measure during security reviews.

The government has promised a swift response to the new threat on the sea with President Kadassa said to be considering issuing a decree to allow civilian vessels to be armed in order to defend themselves. There is also speculation that the government may seek to accelerate their naval strategy on the back of the incident.

Rebel leader Sasha Borov killed in Lakhzov missile strike

Posted Image
The blast from the LBM-01 completely leveled the apartment block
that had been converted into a separatist command centre

The Vaimerian government has confirmed that Sasha Borov, leader and figurehead of the Slavic separatist movement has been killed in a targeted Lakhzov missile strike on the group's headquarters.

Following increasing ethnic tensions in neighbouring Vaimeria and the outbreak of civil war the Lakhzov government has cautiously monitored the situation, fearful that the conflict could destabilise the region and lead to an increase in Utman separatist activities. After air patrols of the eastern airspace were increased and troops redeployed to the Vaimerian border the prospect of intervention by Lakhzovia began to look certain.

The Ministry of Defence provided a public briefing on the strike in which they claim that the strike was carried out with full cooperation between the Lakhzov and Vaimerian forces and was aimed at neutralising Borov without who it is likely the separatist movement will collapse. Answering concerns at the civilian nature of the target the Ministry stated that all efforts were taken to ensure the minimum number of civilian causalities. The apartment block itself had been converted by the separatists into a military command centre and was declared clear of civilians by a Vaimerian intelligence prior to the strike.

In response to the announcement two Democratic Alliance (DA) Senators issued a statement in which they warned it unwise for Lakhzovia to involve itself so directly in the domestic affairs of neighbouring countries and that doing so could set a precedent for foreign intervention into Lakhzov affairs. They also accused the government of using disproportionate force in Vaimeria "The use of a missile designed to sink aircraft carriers for the assassinate a single man is a hugely disproportionate use of force that caused massive damage to targeted area and put the lives of civilians at needless risk. We believe that rather than making a situationally appropriate use of force the use of this weapon was in order to demonstrate Lakhzovia's military capability to the world." The Chairman of the DA has issued a statement making clear that the Senators' letter was purely in their personal capacity and in no way represented an established position of the party.

Hijackers finally make contact. They have demanded the release of top ULO leaders Idi Adas, Saikil Mesharm and Hili Faruta who were arrested during last year's security crackdown on the armed wing of the ULO and are currently waiting for their trial date scheduled for 10 December. They have threatened to kill the hostages if their demands are not met.

02:27

The Government has announced that they are reaffirming their policy of refusing to negotiate or accommodate terror or terrorists in any form. The PAG has issued an ultimatum for the hijackers to release the hostages unharmed and surrender by 03:00. The government has warned that failure to do so will result in the storming of the bus and the execution of the hijackers.

Lakhzov Naval Task group deployed to protect shipping in Matilda Channels

Posted Image
A naval task group has been sent to provide protection to Lakhzov shipping

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that they have ordered a naval task group to be sent to the Matilda channels to protect Lakhzov shipping which has been subjected to unlawful interference from the state of Temcluse. The move comes after the government of the nation, which sits on the Cotf Aranye shore of the channels, ordered that all vessels navigating the straits be searched by them, this has led to many civilian vessels being illegally boarded.

The channels are some of the busiest shipping lanes on Mundus and provide a vital trade link between west and east, the disruption caused by the actions of Temcluse is therefore resulting in significant economic strains on not only the shipping companies but on industries within Lakhzovia itself that are suffering from a drop in turnover.

The task group is expected to provide protection to Lakhzov merchant vessels passing through the channels. It is expected that Temcluse will seek to avoid any direct conflict with another nations navy and that the Lakhzov naval escort will act to deter the Temcluseans from attempted illegal boardings.

A spokesman for the MoD said "It is the firm opinion of the Lakhzov government and this Ministry that the actions of the Temcluseans are highly illegal and we will be reviewing options for resolution of these grievances in the diplomatic field. Until such a resolution is reached however, we will maintain a naval presence in the channels to prevent any Temclusean interference with our trade vessels."

Guest Editorial: The LGBT debate, finding the balance
By Danoi Yishveliy, Chief Medaber of Khalin

Posted Image

This week our neighbours in KaiserAdolf passed a set of domestic legislation that caused a storm of outrage from the leading nations of the world for the unthinkable had happened, a nation dared to legislate according to the sentiments of their own citizens rather than the sensibilities of the nebulous "Mundus moral consensus".

Though I am certain that any reader is well aware of the circumstances by now (it being hard to avoid given the breadth of coverage) it is worth recounting what has occurred, if purely to underline the ridiculousness of world reaction. KaiserAdolf passed an act which prohibits the promotion of, or public display of homosexuality; this is a reasonable set of measures in such a country, the moral and cultural sensibilities of their people are offended by crass displays of deviancy.

Tensions around the taboo subject have been deliberately whipped up by nations that adhere to the "international moral consensus" in order to try to force a change in their country's law, society and culture. The natural response to such an attack by a nation seeking to hold on to traditional values in a globalised world is to seek to protect those traditions and institutions through law, as is entirely legitimate for them to do.

What we are witnessing in these days is a new form of imperialism in which powerful nations use their strength to pressure nations into adopting a set of alien values which they present as being universal but are in reality a product of the historical cultural and ideological developments of those societies. Perhaps knowingly, or perhaps through lack of self-awareness, they have adopted the attitude of all past empires in believing their society to be the pinnacle of civilisation and the natural end point towards which all history has been directed.

Such is the arrogance and conceit of the consensus and those who advance it. KaiserAdolf, like Lakhzovia, is a nation with a proud history, culture and tradition stretching back many centuries. They too do not wish to be coerced into adopting a foreign set of beliefs or values. As far as the rest of Mundus is concerned I view their various systems of values and ideals with polite disinterest and ask only for the same in return.

Emetism, so firmly rooted in our culture, makes clear the value of remaining true to ones tradition. It also provides a framework through which we relate to the world, we recognise the inherent value in all humanity and even the inherent worth of other peoples and nations, yet we are told that what makes the other nations so valuable is that through their uniqueness they fulfill their particular role in the world. Nations should be respected for their differences and celebrated for their adherence to their divine role in this age.

It is for this reason I believe that the government of Lakhzovia should more vocally defend our neighbour from the globalists, publicly announce a boycott of the LGBT protest event and make a formal reiteration of our own nations policy regarding LGBT issues, for sooner or later that furious scrutiny could be directed at us and we would hope that those with whom we share so much would aid us also. But more than that it is time for nations that do not wish to be assimilated into a homogenised world culture to begin to resist the advance of the cultural imperialists.

LNS Yamat, first of the new Milekh class stealth destroyer launched

Posted Image
The LNS Yamat in the Mar Kotuf naval shipyard

President Kadassa today launched the LNS Yamat in a ceremony in the Mar Kotuf naval shipyards where it was built. The Yamat is the first ship to be built for the Lakhzov navy in almost 30 years and is the first of the new Milekh class stealth destroyer which is anticipated to form the core of an extended transformation of the navy to meet long term strategic needs. A further three destroyers are under construction at present with two due to be launched before the end of the year, government sources have also confirmed that a committee is examining the funding for an expanded order.

The Yamat will now undergo 12 months of testing and crew training before entering in to service where it will be joined by others of its class in the proceeding year.

In addition to the Milekh class projects to develop other functions of the navy are said to be in advanced design stage with prototypes expected to begin construction in about 18 - 24 months time. General Shuziye, Minister of Defence, gave an address at the ceremony praising the determination and skill of the naval shipyard workers, designers and engineers. He confirmed that this marked the first such project in the governments vision for a naval force capable of meeting Lakhzovia's long term strategic needs.

New major PetroLakh refinery comes online

Posted Image
The new PetroLakh refinery in Bruziin, Alkhaz

PetroLakh Group rolled out its 12 million ton per year refining project on wednesday, after the new PetroLakh Bruziin 19 units successfully passed trial runs. Located in Lake Kineros Petrochemical Industrial Park of northern Alkhaz Province, PetroLakh Bruziin refinery is a key project in Lakhzovia’s first Five-Year Plan period.

The total investment of the project is nearly USD 4.83bn. All its gasoline and diesel products meet Cotf Aranye Partnership set emission standards with PetroLakh Group committed to building the project into a large-scale, modern refining enterprise characterised by advanced techniques, resource efficiency, environmental friendliness and sustainable development with domestic and international advanced technologies having been adopted for its principal units.

The project has a total of 19 units, including those related to such processes as atmospheric and vacuum distillation, residue hydrotreating, VGO hydrocracking, continuous reforming, heavy oil catalytic cracking, delayed coking, and polypropylene production, as well as a supporting dock and storage facilities.

The project features high energy efficiency, with its BT energy consumption index reaching 131.2 per cent, a leading level among domestic refineries; the installation can be made to suit any desired diesel-gasoline ratio, based on market demand.

Its safety, environmental protection and occupational health facilities have been designed, constructed and put into operation with the main project concurrently. It employs state-of-the-art refinery waste treatment technologies, and its flue and gas emissions are desulfurized and denitrated.

Experts within the industry observe that although Lakhzovia has excessive refining capacity, in general most of this is geared towards the production of heavy fuels from coal tar refining and lacks the advanced, high-level capability vital for an increasingly high tech modernised economy.

It is hoped that the new project, taking advantage of economies of scale, imports of advanced refining technologies and environmentally friendly production techniques, will leave Lakhzovia better positioned to satisfy market demand for high quality oil products, and promote the upgrading and transformation of Lakhzovia’s petroleum refining industry.

The new plant is expected to feed in to PetroLakh’s other Alkhaz based project the Tetziin 2 Petrochemical plant which will is anticipated to become a major producer of industrial feedstock chemicals when it comes online to replace the outdated Tetziin 1 plant which is due to be decommissioned within the next two years.

Security forces launch raids on illegal Utman weapons factories in Transmecuria

Posted Image
Arms captured from an illegal factory in Khalin

Lakhzov security forces shut down six illegal weapons manufacturing factories in Transmecuria in what the army said was the biggest such operation of an ongoing crackdown.

The raids conducted jointly by the Lakhzov Defense Forces, Prefecture Officers and the Lakhzov Central Police Force took place Monday night in Khalin, Kinere and surrounding villages.

“Last night, after research and analysis, we decided to clamp down on several warehouses and factories that manufacture guns and arms,” a senior army officer told Infoi Yedayi and other journalists in a briefing. “From six of these seven warehouses we found advanced weapons technology.”

Fifty-four weapons were seized, along with gun parts and 22 lathes. Two suspects were arrested, including a major arms dealer, according to the LDF.

The army has been targeting weapons production, dealing and possession in the Transmecuria amid a wave of Utman violence against Lakhzov citizens that started last year but has slowed in the past months.

More than 140 arms manufacturers and dealers have been arrested, 49 weapons production machines and 29 factories shut down, and over 300 weapons confiscated since October, according to the LDF. Each factory typically houses one or two production machines, though sometimes there are more, the senior officer said.

“The LDF will continue to decisively act against the production infrastructure and trade of weapons and thwart terrorism,” the LDF said in a statement.

The Lakhzov army believes there are hundreds of factories, many in garages and homes, and thousands or tens of thousands of illegal weapons on the streets of Transmecuria. A single factory can produce up to dozens of weapons a day, according to the senior officer. Only Lakhzov security personnel may legally possess weapons.

While eradicating illegal weapons in Transmecuria is not feasible, the army said it seeks to make them harder and more expensive to acquire. Utman currently can buy a homemade Ritin Shal submachine gun for less than USD$1,000. A large number of Ritzi, as they are commonly known, was among the guns seized Monday, along with 39 pistols, six sniper rifles, four hunting rifles, two flare guns, a pellet gun and a shotgun, the army said.

“The main thing we try to do is stop the situation where every deranged Utman can put his hands on a gun and murder civilians,” the senior officer said.

The Ritin has been used in the majority of shooting attacks on Lakhzov civilians and security personnel since the Isyan began. More than 30 shooting attacks have been carried out this year with illegal weapons, according to the LDF. Notably the Ritin, which is inaccurate with limited range, was used by two Utman cousins in September to shoot up the Tetzin cafe in the popular Arona outdoor shopping center in central Khalin. Four Lakhzov citizens were killed and several seriously injured in the terrorist attack.

Thirty-five Lakhzov and four foreign nationals have been killed in Utman stabbings, car rammings and shootings since October. At least 214 Utman have been killed in the same period, some two-thirds of them during attacks and the rest during clashes with security services according to the army.

President Kadassa announces shock elections

Posted Image
President Kadassa announced elections at a press conference this morning

The nation reacted with surprise today after President Kadassa announced that elections would take place in three months time. While the government has confirmed that the state of emergency remains in effect a spokesman has said that the recent period of relative quiet and the positive developments in national wealth has provided a rare opportunity for the conducting of elections.

Our analysts believe that the government is looking to capitalise on positive economic data expected to be released in two months time and secure a renewed mandate to continue leading. There are also suggestions that Kadassa hopes to use the opportunity to replace more radical members of the Lakhzov National Congress Party with those belonging to his majority faction.

These will be the first elections held in Lakhzovia for 9 years and provide a rare opportunity for the people to impact the destiny of their country. Other political parties in Lakhzovia have welcomed the announcement and have already begun making preparations for campaigning.

First Election Special

Factional struggle breaks out in President Kadassa's LNCP

The Lakhzov National Congress Party was thrown in to chaos today as an internal dispute over nominations for the upcoming election descended into full on factional warfare.

The debate began during the committee meeting to allocate electoral districts to potential candidates. Under the terms of the merger between the Lakhzov Home Party (LHP) and the LNCP the LHP is entitled to be allocated a number of districts in which candidates from their faction are chosen to contest. The argument that has broken out is over which specific districts their candidates are to be allocated, Lakhzov Home are claiming that Kadassa's wing of the party, which controls the majority of the party bureaucratic posts, have provided them with an allocation of low attainability districts where there is little chance of winning.

Senior members of Lakhzov Home are claiming that there is a deliberate move by Kadassa to try to reduce the influence of their faction in national bodies of power. Relations between the two factions have always been strained but lately tensions have been mounting due to the widening divide between the reasonably secular LNCP and the increasingly extremist and religiously fanatical Lakhzov Home. It is thought that Kadassa has been actively seeking to limit the potential for damage to his particular vision of Lakhzovia's future development.

The Lakhzov Home ended negotiations at midday and announced their intention to run their candidates in whichever districts they wish even where this means running against another LNCP candidate.

President Kadassa has warned that the tactics of Lakhzov Home are reckless and risk splitting the vote in key districts, a result that could potentially weaken the next government which he is expected to form. Cikniye also commented on the situation warning that there will be very real political repercussions on the Lakhzov Home faction if their actions result in an electoral disaster.

Security Minister orders protesters to disperse as violence breaks out

Violence broke out on the streets of Nakim earlier this evening as supporters of the Lakhzov National Congress Party came out en masse to counter protest against the Democratic Alliance activists. Clashes erupted as police failed to prevent the two groups from meeting resulting in significant numbers of people receiving injuries as projectiles were thrown, shop windows broken and vehicles torched.

By nightfall groups had begun breaking off from the main protests engaging in running street battles across the city, news of the riots has triggered isolated outbreaks of violence in other cities.

The Presidential Advisory Group (PAG) convened for an emergency session and With President Kadassa currently discussing the crisis with Rokkenjiman allies, the meeting was chaired by the Security Minister Shalmi Meirah who broadcast an official statement at 21:00.

In the broadcast she announced that the PAG has ordered the immediate cessation of all protests, rallies, marches and public meetings and that the activists were to return to their homes. She also announced that a general curfew will come in to effect at midnight giving protesters time to vacate the streets, in addition to this all transit permits have been revoked and those outside of their registered district must return home.

"We cannot allow the functioning of the state and the economy to be brought to a halt. While Lakhzovia respects the right of citizens to express their opinions through protest, that protest becomes illegitimate when it resorts to violence, intimidation and economic warfare aimed at damaging the state.

We have therefore ordered a general curfew and the revocation of all transit permits. Protesters have until midnight to evacuate the streets, those who remain outside after the curfew will be detained and, or deported to their home district."

Panic in Transmecuria as Utman militia 'Khaliniz Brigades' re-arm

Posted Image

Lakhzov residents of Transmecuria were sent in to a panic today as it was revealed that the ULO-Shanata sham government has ordered the re-arming of the Khaliniz Brigades.

The Khaliniz Brigades are infamous for their record of brutal atrocities against isolated Lakhzov communities during the civil war and many residents fled their homes, returning only after the war when the militia had been crushed. Speaking on behalf of ULO-Shanata terrorist leader Racip Uttaman announced that the brigades were be reconstituted as the basis for the self-defence of the 'Utman State' and that they would form the foundation for the future of the Utman security apparatus.

Intelligence indicates that the Utman have began a major recruitment drive to bring the militia up to the numbers required to form a meaningful army and have reported been swamped by volunteers. Meanwhile veterans and the militias underground sleeper cells have been activated, already making their presence felt in an attempt to appear as if the Utman Republic is a genuine entity as a part of their push for recognition as an independence state.

The government in Nakim has responded saying "The reactivation of the Khaliniz Brigades shows that for their talk of a desire for peace the Utman separatists still adhere to the same belief in ethnic violence they did three decades ago. Their attempts to intimidate the state with the threat of a new civil war will fail, we demand that the brigades immediately disband."

Meanwhile Lakhzov residents of some villages in areas dominated by ethnic Utman have began fleeing to Khalin and other perceived Lakhzov government strongholds ignoring government calls to remain in their homes and villages in what some are suggesting is the beginning of a potentially huge internal displacement should the situation spiral out of control.

Chief Medaber of Khalin Rebukes the Rosari Church

Posted Image

The Chief Medaber of Khalin Danoi Yishveliy has launched a stinging rebuke against the Rosari Church after its Grand Maester Yuna made a series of public statements condemning Lakhzovia and apparently throwing support behind the terrorist ULO organisation while demanding that Rokkenjima take a tougher stance against Lakzhovia.

Having been quoted by the Rokkenjiman Broadcasting Corporation as saying that she offered the "full support of the Rosari Church" to the Utman people and expressed her desire that they "stand as strong as Mt. Gagazet in proclaiming their independence from the tyrant, Kadassa" as well as damning her own government for being "soft in the face of the unjust." Medaber Yishveliy invited journalists to record his Friday night sermon in which he condemned the Grand Maester's sentiments as 'Un-Godly'.

His fiery ninety minute sermon was well attended and his words visibly stirred the crowd who at several points broke out into cries of "Emet is truth!" while the subject of the sermon was 'strength in times of trial' the majority of the sermon was given over to a list of denunciations and political calls.

At one point he claimed that "The Grand Maester of the Rosari Church has seen fit to intervene in a dispute, and not just any dispute, but a dispute in Lakhzov lands over the future of the Lakhzov people. Can anyone say that the Maester of a heathen religion has any right to speak on issues of the divine inheritance and birthright of the Lakhzov people? No. The Grand Maester reveals an important lesson that can be found in this weeks Takhmud portion, in the Book of Victories, Peshet Ilik does it not our Holy Prophet Naqsim say 'Weep for the nations O' Lakhzov, for they have sent ahead of them their false priests and prophets speaking words of ill omen. To them neither listen nor fear their evil, for if you should tell me that there exists wisdom amongst the nations I would concur, but should you tell me that there exists Takhmud with them I would cast you down into flames, for the Takhmud that I give you is an inheritance for the Lakhzov in order that you may live joyfully in the good land that was created for you from the foundations of the world.'

The Maester then represents this same phenomenon in this day as was faced by our ancestors. The Heathen world, so obsessed with the wisdom of its own age, seeks to sway the true believer from their way in order that evil may befall them. Yet Takhmud, the divine gift of Emet is eternal and a refuge for those who trust in it. So do not be dismayed by the ravings of the blind heathens, but raise up your voices in praise of Emet who has paved the path for our victory. Lakhzovia is ours and no inch of our holy land can ever be ceded to heathens. Emet spoke once and for eternity through his Prophet Naqsim, and his words remain true for eternity. Therefore let your heart be at peace in the knowledge that the Utman terrorists will be destroyed, their nation will be turned to ashes and the vineyards, orchards and fields will one day again be the joy of the Lakhzov. No Maester, no Church, no Empire whether "Holy" or "First" will ever be able to stand in the way of the unified Lakhzov people so long as they shelter in Takhmud!"

Utman Khaliniz Brigades seize police stations across Transmecuria

Posted Image
The Utman Republican flag is raised over Maasin municipal police station after the compound was seized by rebels

Suspected members of the Utman Khaliniz Brigades (UKB) have carried out a series of raids leading to the occupation of 37 police stations in towns throughout Transmecuria province including the municipal police station in the town of Maasin on the outskirts of the Khalin metropolitan area. Chief Inspector Aron Palomitz, public information officer (PIO) of Lakhzov Civil Police, Transmecuria Provincial Office, said 50 to 70 armed men swooped down on the station at about 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Prior to the raid, two suspected rebels went inside the station to supposedly have an incident recorded in the police log. While the duty officer was interviewing them, a truck full of armed men arrived at the station and the two rebels inside announced a raid. By then, the rebels have blocked major roads leading to the station.

Maasin is a fourth-class town situated about 28 kilometers west of the Khalin, the capital of Transmecuria province. Khalin City Governor Ye’id Malkhoz placed the entire city on full alert status as a precautionary measure shortly after the UKB raid in Maasin. "All police captains and officials together with their officers and CVOs (civilian volunteer organizations) shall strictly monitor their respective sectors and report any suspicious movement that may compromise the peace and order situation in the city," Malkhoz stated in a post on his official Facebook page. The sector chiefs were also instructed to "collaborate with their respective district police stations in the maintenance of peace and order." Malkhoz asked the public to remain calm, but vigilant. "There is no reported threat to the city. This is just a precautionary measure. Let's all stay alert and vigilant," he added.

Police stations — as fortified government institutions inside neighborhoods — have historically proven to be valuable military locations and play a large part in government control of an area. During the Civil War police stations had been central to the pacification of Utman held territory with the Army using jail cells to hold captured rebel fighters, while gathering troops at the stations to stage attacks, or fire from the rooftops.

The stations “also represent a source of intelligence and a network for information for the regime as well as a refuge for government officials,” said Eliyaz Hanar, a retired Lakhzov General and an expert on the Lakhzov military. “Taking over a police station means denying the government a presence in the area, and controlling it. This makes their capture a vital objective for any group hoping to exert their authority over the territory.”
