![]() This is Radio Eriwan. This is Radio Eriwan. We bring you all the news out of Vendosia, independent from the government or any other party crazily waving guns at each other. I'm Claus... ...and I'm Dieter. Yes, it seems that all these military people kinda forgot about Altas, and especially our little village called Eriwan. Which I can certainly understand, I mean between trees and beaches there is little of value to them here. And hey, since the police cleared out of town we don't even have to pay our broadcasting fees anymore! And with all the money saved we employed a bunch of adventurers and/or hobos, gave them Microphones and send them in all directions the sky had to offer! Well, mostly northwards and westwards. The other directions just contain large amounts of sea water. That's... correct. Whatever, we're now switching over to our first correspondent on the shore of the Alegria River just west of Victoria. What's going on there, Carver? "Claus, I'm standing here right next to the main highway bridge over the river, where the whole 2nd Stormtrooper-Division of the Vendosian Army just cleared out of their headquarters in the Fortress Cuervo to make their way south and unite with the troops of the Revolutionary Casasists. And unlike the incidents in Potemkin and Süden the officer corps seems to be fine with defecting. Next to me is Major Kuarez from the Division. Major, why have you and your men decided to join the RCP?" "Because we will no longer serve under a traitor, who murdered the elected President. Casas was a righteous man, he knew of the problems of the soldier and the common man. He may not always chosen the best solution, but he tried. Koldor only works for business interest and his mighty circle of friends. He isn't even a true soldier. He only was a communication officer! No wonder, these foreign mercenaries had no problem rushing through our defenses at this stage! Revolution has liberated this nation once before, and it can happen again." "There you have it, listeners. While the Stormtroopers drive through Victoria, the National Police Force seems to have all kinds of problems keeping the public at bay. Some citizens already celebrate the revolutionaries as heroes, some express their disgust or even try to attack them. The NPF-department hasn't tried to stop the division, probably because they are outgunned and outnumbered. Meanwhile the tense situation is worsened by looters and groups of Presidential and Revolutionary supporters fighting each other. At the moment, it is impossible to say if Victoria, once errected as the shining symbol of the new Vendosia will have to suffer so dearly like in the last war, but we all sure hope that it doesn't come to it." Thanks, Carver. Seems like Victoria could become one of the main points of conflict, seeing how torn the city seems already. We'll see about that. But for now, some music. |

Radio Eriwan, bringing you the latest news from beautiful Vendosia in seven different languages! It appears there are some new insights about the motivation of the foreign mercenaries that control most of the Province Nordeste. For a long time we knew next to nothing about them, except that they came from overseas, are pretty rude to the general populace and carry weaponry that is far more advanced than anything the Army could muster. Our sympathy goes to all the relatives from the soldiers of the 4th Tank Division. Right. As I was about to say, Manuel Somoza announced during a, frankly terrible lit, interview, broadcasted from Puerto Noeste, that he came back to - I quote - liberate Vendosia and unite the nation against both foreign capitalist interest and communist dictatorship, for he wields the righteous sword, inheritated by the sons of his family since generations... and bla, bla, bla. I think most Vendosians don't remember the reign of his father so happily. Well, if he is so well financed foreign capitalist interest must have taken some interest in him. Probably, we will see how this all turns out. If you ask me, that sounds like he isn't Democracy's greatest fan. I'm quite sure he couldn't even spell it. Do they teach democracy in foreign schools? If they do, I'm sure they do it worse than our vendosian teachers. By the way, is school still a thing? Has anyone checked if the teachers are still paid? I think the government prefers to spend it on weapons right now. If the RCP decides to teach the little ones anything it will probably be about the glorious comrade Casas. We are talking about the vendosian youth here. Half of them probably picked up their granddad's rifle and built a barricade somewhere, while the other half has thrown out the teachers and organized the lessons following the principles of direct democracy. Or they are raiding booze stores. Oh, today's kids! If you are listening to this and are under the age of eighteen we encourage you to stop any dangerous behaviour you may be undertaking right now. On the other hand we want to encourage our correspondents to undertake every dangerous behaviour that gets them closer to the action. Like Jurislaw, who is accompanying the RCP's troops south of Hill 452. Jurislaw, how is the situation right now? (Ambience) "The military command of the RCP seems to be very determined to end this war before February. Three Divisions, two from the Stormtroopers and one Tank Division, have surrounded the fortifications of the 9th and 10th Infantry Divisions and have been charging their positions for hours. I can't get a good overview from the crater I'm currently in, but I think it is fair to say, that none of the both sides has made any significant progress. The area south of Mendoza was always considered a important piece in the defense of the country and capital and is scattered with military compounds, the government forces can easily utilize. Even if the revolutionaries manage to capture a few positions, many of them are build to face southwards and are of little to no use to them. The scenes that we can observe here around the outer trenches seem strangely misplaced, in a way I can only describe as the warfare of the past. Around me men are mowed down by machinegun fire and mortar shells. The tanks are of minimal use to the RCP's troops as the ground is very hilly and serrated by artillery fire. I don't think any of the two parties will manage to gain any great advantage over the other, at least in the following days. This is Jurislaw from the first real battle of this new and frightening war." Thanks Jurislaw. Now for something more relaxing. |

Radio Eriwan here, telling you what happens in Vendosia... in case you were wondering. It seems like the war machine of the Revolutionary Casasist Party came to a halt on the entire front. After several failed attempts to capture Hill 452 in the west, the hope of the high command seems to have shifted to Victoria, which has much less trenches, and bunkers and pointy things around it. At least at the southern part of the river. Well, kudos to them and good luck and all, but I have wondered about something. Do you know who we talk about, when we say "high command" and "the RCP"? I have no bloody idea who's in charge there. I read something about that in the flyer, the one these obnoxious kids with the red scarfs keep handing out. Apparently the RCP has basic democratic councils based on areas and work places, which send their representatives to higher councils. The two highest councils form the party convention, which in turn votes the central committee. That thingy then formulates important goals, based on suggestions made during the party convention and sends them to the council of ministers, who are responsible to achieve those goals in cooperation with all the councils and officials. The committee also commissiones the commissariat, which deals with complaints and looks for voter fraud and the like. That... sounds complicated. What's with the soldiers? I think they have own workplace councils. No clue who are their generals, though. Or what happens if they want to stop fighting. But honestly I didn't understand it all anyway; the flyer's on german. Oh, yeah I heard the RCP made that their official language. Makes sense I guess, most folks in Pescado and Golpe pretty much have it as their native one. Plus I heard it used to be mandatory for all stormtroopers. Casas didn't speak german, did he? I don't think so. As far as I can remember he liked to use Vendosian whenever he could. But to come back to your original question: I know that Amanda Valenciano is the current top dog of the central committee and some other unionists and members of the Radical Party and the People's Party are up there too. Maybe we should invite someone who can tell us more about all that. Yeah, I will make a note here... and then we will get back to you listeners as soon as we have some definite answers for you. Unless you listen to us from the Pescado or Golpe in which case you probably know all about the RCP already. Lucky you! Well, since we talked so much about the RCP, here's something for the government forces to enjoy. |

This is Radio Eriwan. Broadcasting from Vendosia. A demonstration was held in Mendoza today, despite martial law being in effect. It seems that it was organized by students of the National University to show their solidarity with the RCP and their fighters. The exact number of participants is still unknown, but estimations vary between 5000 and 70000. Needless to say the demonstration was quickly dispersed by the forces of the National Police Force. Quite a few people were arrested and at least one student was run over by a vehicle during the incident. Fortunately, the police seems to have refrained from using firearms against the crowd. There have been minor skirmishes between reactionary and revolutionary navy units around the west coast. One government-destroyer has been heavily damaged and three RCP-patrol vessels have been sunk, as they tried to make their way into the Alegria river. Battles in and around Victoria intensify, as revolutionary forces try to make their way into the city. The government forces are still defending the Victoria airbase, but with the Stormtroopers quickly advancing on the riverbank they risk being cut off from the town itself. The revolutionary advance seems to be effectively halted in the suburbs by government forces, despite heavy bombardment from the south. The situation inside the city boundaries is unclear at the moment, but refugee tracks leaving in both directions allow for the speculation that most of the civilians will have left the city by February. Our sympathy goes to all victims of the war. (Music) We will now attempt something crazy: Speaking to people that are far away... AND getting answers! Your childish excitement for telephones amazes me. The Grid has become quite bad, since people have begun cutting the lines between north and south. And since the government stopped sending the cable guys down here. Whatever. I welcome General Ivaréz. Greetings. General, would you mind to describe your current position inside the RCP? Not at all. I was elected to lead the 4th Stormtrooper-Division and have subsequently been voted to represent the interests of all revolutionary troops in the Central Committee. Since I'm also the only member of the Committee with a formal military education we've decided that I would be the most reasonable candidate to handle all military decisions. So in a way you could call me Commander-in-chief, although I would reject the title. There has been confusion around here about how the RCP actually works. Could you give us some insights on that? We heard it's based on councils? That is correct. There are three types: Soldier's, Worker's and Residence councils. They are based on democratic self-management: The workers of a factory or farm unite in a council and assume control and ownership over their workplace. So do the tenants of buildings. The councils vote representatives for local councils, these send representatives to regional councils, and so forth. The highest councils vote representatives for the party convention, which should take place every two years. This nominally is the highest party institution. The party convention decides on the goals of the party and vote members into the central committee that they think are able to achieve these goals. Now the soldier's councils are similiar, but they are organized in their military units. So for example there are no regional councils, but councils for divisions, battalions etc. Also the soldier's don't have the same amount of self-management as the civilians. To ensure military sucess and discipline they unfortunately have to listen to higher commanders. Nevertheless they vote on the important personal decisions and have a say in military organization in general. I'll make sure they will. Now, what makes your system different from a parliamentary system with many, many layers and very small voting districts? Well, for once the representatives are responsible to their voter base, they can't just vote out of their own conscience. Plus if they fail at their job they can always be thrown out of office. And our system isn't a limited political democracy. We deocratize the economy and the very life of the people. The RCP claims to follow the ideology of the deceased President Casas. What does that mean to you? If we learned anything from the failure of the first socialist system in Vendosia it is that we can't allow political representation of bourgouis interests. These influences would weaken the revolution and the system as a whole. Is that why people, who own the house in which they live and who don't work aren't represented in the system of councils? That is certainly one practical occurence of this doctrine. We thank you for your time. Glad to join you. And now for some music. |

Here's Radio Eriwan. Bringing you all the joys of knowing what's going on... in a warzone on the other side of the planet. Manuel Somoza has showed himself during a TV-broadcast from Puerto Noeste yesterday, declaring his love for the vendosian people and how his reign will be full of righteousness and other things with positive connotations. Also he talked in Vendosian with english subtitles. The broadcast was critized for it's portrayal of Somoza. I bet it was. The only thing missing was a crown on his head. How can he still broadcast from old PN, I thought the navy had orders to level the place? Apparently they are afraid of the modern anti-ship missiles the Somoza-mercenaries brought along with them. There have also been reports of soldiers defecting to Somoza, rather than attacking his troops. Only because they are better trained and have bigger guns? I reckon they also have bigger paychecks. Fair point. In other news: General Miller, who's now the Minister of both Inner and Outer Defense of Vendosia apparently gets more and more desperate to fill his ranks. Conscription has been extended to every citizen between the ages of 16 and 45, who isn't working in a vital industry. Vital industries include: Arms manufacturing, mining, steelworks, agriculture, police, fire and emergency services, prostitution, anything producing food, public transportation, seafaring, working in the harbour, public administration and some other ones. The Protectora says you should go ask your local police station if you aren't sure if you qualify. I would advise you that you don't do that if you aren't ready for a sudden career change. There have been several reports of explosions and combat noise coming from the military fortress Lobo. We can confirm these reports, as the base is really just some kilometers away from here. It is still unknown what is happening there, but none of our correspondents felt like asking. All communications from the base fell silent, shortly after the war began and the garrisoned troops have not declared their loyality for any side yet. In regards to your own safety we'd like to instruct you to stay clear of the area. Unfortunately the fortress controlls the vital highway and train connections to and from Altas, so... just stay away from it, okay? I guess we can forget about our Amazon deliveries. You should have written those off a while ago. War sure is hell. (Music) |

This is Radio Eriwan. Still hanging on. Following the immense victories of the Somoza-Forces in the North and it's own stagnating fronts the RCP is torn apart by internal power struggles. Amanda Valenciano, Casasist from the first hour of the movement, and General Ivaréz have presented their plans for a total reform of all party institutions. These reforms aim at making the administration more efficent and give the revolution the winning edge to break through the government's defenses. Members of the party that rally around the former president of the government in exile Walter Moyano strictly oppose these reforms and fear that they will lead to the destruction of the democratic spirit and tradition in the casasist movement. I guess they have given up on deciding the conflict in february long ago. In related news: The governmental navy is almost totally sunk after repeated attempts to shell Puerto Noeste. The highly advanced rockets of Somoza mercenaries apparently proved too much for the ships. Pictures made by an army helicopter show a bay full of debris and dead sailors. Koldor and friends seem to be barely able to hold onto their key cities. If it weren't for the Alegria river to their south they would probably already been isolated in the capital. Still, despite the crimes the Koldor regime has commited in the past refugees are flocking to Mendoza, as it is one of the few towns in the area that doesn't get bombarded regulary. Well, the news are somehow tragic today. I got something to cheer you up: A baby polar bear was born in the zoo of Pez yesterday. I'm afraid I can't show it to you, because radio is pretty limited on the visual scale, but let me assure you that the cub is healthy and hella cute. (Music) |

This is Radio Eriwan. This is Radio Eriwan. The only vendosian news outlet with less than three bullet holes. The news are dominated by the big referendum the RCP is holding at the moment. Millions of farmers, workers, soldiers and party members are questioned about their opinion on the proposed reform plans. Said plans would greatly centralize the party's structures and institutions, in a hope to be more effective against hostile troops. What do you think of it, Dieter? Well, I'm not a political man and at this point I just hope for a quick end to the war, like many Vendosians. If the RCP thinks that they can win this war with these reforms I'm all for it, but I'm afraid a strengthend Valenciano leading a centralized party won't do much good if they come out on top. Democracy-wise. We'll see how the RCP decides. In other news: The government has declared the capital Mendoza to be an neutral zone. They say they will pull out all the troops to the defenses of their areas and open the town for all refugees. Therefore Minister Miller has urged the RCP and the Somoza-troops to not undertake any attacks against the city and the surrounding areas. This step was applauded by the Red Cross of Vendosia. In the meantime thousands of people are fleeing southwards to escape the onslaught of Somoza's reign. Seems like he isn't really popular. I'm sure he will be really sad about that. As far as I know it's not so much him, but his employees. They don't speak the local language, they allegedly take rape and pillage very literally... the populace doesn't have much sympathies for these guys. In this dark times we can just hope that one day the vendosian people will unite again. (National Anthem) |

Radio Eriwan here, with the news from Vendosia. And boy are they hot today! After reports comming in from Mendoza President Koldor has left the country with most members of his cabinet. Allegedly they are headed for Mainland-Vendosia. RCP intelligence suggests that several military units from the government have retreated from the frontlines, so he could be travelling with a hefty escort. Mainland-Vendosia? You know, the area of the continent the government claimed months ago, but never came around to do anything with it because of the war. Oh, yeah that Mainland-Vendosia. But there's next to nothing there except some mountain villages, forests and beaches. Well, sounds like a nice spot for a vacation if you're coming from a warzone. Probably. Without a doubt this will have detrimental effects on the morale of the military still holding out against both fronts. I'm certain the High command of the RCP is dancing in their chairs right now. Right... because now they can face the far worse enemy directly. How great for them. (Music) |
