A Mundus United So this is an idea I've been sitting on for a while, and of course, been developing. I realise it's an obvious idea, but I found it too enticing to pass up. I had just played through the mass effect series again and thought to myself... Damn, the asset system is pretty cool. Now the idea in a nutshell is a world war. Unlike the world war that occurred before my presence in TIO however, this War will pit the nations of Mundus against a Superstate I will coordinate (Or a rogue organisation, still working on pieces of this). Once the war begins, the nations involved will attend a summit and will debate where help is most dire. Also discussed will be each nation's combat abilities. Depending on how many nations are involved, the Superstate's asset level will be set (e.g 60,000). Then each nation will be given a certain asset number for their military (e.g 1,000). It would then be up to the nation how they fill the points. For example: 1 army division could be worth 30 asset points, 1 navy fleet could be worth 100 asset points (depending of course, on what the fleet or division contained). The Territory System of Mundus could be used to generate battles. In each battle, the Enemy force will come with a strength in asset numbers. The coalition nations would then discuss what combination of forces would best combat the enemy army (eg. 2 fighter squadrons from nation X and 1 infantry Brigade from nation Y) Each nation could then have an important part to play in the struggle. if one nation had a rather small military, they may also have one of the best air to ground fleets, and are therefore chosen by other nations for bombing missions. Just an early concept that needs some refinement and discussion. Here's an asset card example Edited by autarch, 22nd December 2015 - 01:21 PM.

Hmm. It's an interesting concept, to be sure, though maybe not so much in tune with TIO. You're welcome to have a go at launching a version of this through the Other World, kinda like the RP Red Dusk did over there, if you're short of inspiration. The card thing, though... I remember that from ME3. Got me thinking... You played Witcher 3? Perhaps 'Gwent' from that game would be a better model for TIO. |

While this is ultimately doable (and with Zach coming off the map there's no obvious antagonist) it would have to be done as a long game rather than a simple event. I think if you wanted to do this within the Nation RP then you'd be looking at having to start the 'super state' off as a normal nation and then over time it would be built up. | |||

So Zach-Senpai really is leaving? ;-; Yeah, it would be built up. really, it's a good time to see who remains interested. During this time people could also sort out their cards, and point scaling would be done according to the parties interested. It does'nt necessarily have to be a superstate in the beginning, a rogue corp or organisation could launch coups in involved nations. Of course it's an early concept, reason for my posting it here is for it to be discussed. I understand that it doesn't seem to fit with TIO format, but there will be a way to utilise both the point system and text RP. |
