 The Luvonian Soccer Team Proceeds Further in the MFA World Cup Luvonia after leading their group in the MFA World Cup solidified their spot in the quarter finals after tying with East Moreland yesterday 2-2 at the Nike Stadium in Sparta. The team were glad after scoring in the final minutes of the game. The score was taken by Harris Stalone, whom has been an up and coming guy on the world stage. Although we couldn't talk to him, we were to talk to the team's coach told us today. And quote'I was glad to see the guys go out there and represent our nation as best as they could. You know, East Moreland was tough, but we overcame 'em. Although we may not have beaten them, we gave them an 'ell of a fight. That just shows the will of us Luvonians.'.  The Mercian Commonwealth's 'Bending of the Knee' Ceremony opens to Mundus The Commonwealth of Mercia has been gaining a greater reputation as of late due to them opening up to the rest of the world. A note has been released by one of their monarchs, King John Wolfingas, inviting the leaders of the world to their 'Bending of the Knee' ceremony. It's an annual tradition in Mercia where all the royals of the nation owe fealty to their queen or king. The invitational note sent forth by the King has been given to us from local sources. It reads as follows and I quote,
The note has garnered responses from us (Luvonia), Sparta, Rokkenjima, and even the anti-monarchist Epanastasia. There has also been recent speculation that people from Vafleon and Ikh Kheerin will attend.  The Luvonian Soccer Team Proceeds to the MFA World Cup Semi-Finals The Luvonia team just keeps on impressing. Yesterday the Luvonia team faced the Central Ossarian Republic in the Quarter Finals at the Nexus Park in Sparta. The team won with an impressive 4-2. During the first 20 minutes it didn't seem to be going well for Luvonia with a score of 0-2. But after the up and coming Harris Stalone scored twice in the final minutes of the first half, the game got on. This night was probably Harris' best night in his career, he stopped what might have been 2 goals and. He's now even dubbed as, Harris 'The Iron Heart' Stalone. Although they were his last goals of the night, the team scored two more goals later during the second half. This eventually lead to the teams victory against the C.O.R's team. Afterwards one of our reporters were able to get to The Iron Heart after the game. We asked him about how he felt after the game, and he responded as follows.

 THE LUVONIAN TEAM HAS MADE IT TO THE FINALS The Luvonian team has made it to the finals where they'll be versing Tytor after they defeated Dijel with a score of 2-1. The Iron Heart, Harris Stalone shined through in this match just as much as he did throughout the last couple of games. He scored the first goal in the game after a pass from Thomas Ripoll during the first half from quite a difficult angle, but as mentioned before made it in nonetheless. The second goal for Luvonia was scored by attacker Mitch Renalds, during the second half of the game. The Luvonian team will now be facing Tytor at the Nike Stadium in Sparta to determine who's truly number one in the MFA. The game will be to decide who's first and second. So whoever is to loose the game will be second while the winner will be first. In unison with this the two loosing teams of the semi-finals, Achkaerin and Dijel, will be facing each other in the Hermes Stadium (Sparta) to determine third place.  LUVONIAN YOUTUBER PEWDIEPIE HAS BROKEN THE RECORD FOR MOST VIEWS ON A YOUTUBE CHANNEL Today is a good day for famous Luvonian Youtuber PewDiePie. This morning at about 9:30 a.m he became the most viewed Youtuber in all of Mundus. 2016 has already been a great year for the man, as on Janruary the 9th he surpassed Smosh to become the channel on Youtube with the most subscribers. He then as mentioned before broke the record for most views on a single channel. He broke the record once he had 11,005,081,939 views after the release of a Harlem Shake video. In response to the achievement he has put out a video today giving his thanks to everyone for helping him on his way to success. He said some pretty emotional things in the video like, 'I can't thank you guys enough' and 'I never thought it would come to this'. He was really genuine about most of the things he said. The video has also has sparked a new hashtag which has started trending like wildfire. He is now the leader of a new trend, #PewDieTube_2016  LUVONIAN SINGER SOPHIA MENDOSA SAYS THAT SHE IS 'DA BOMB' Luvonian Singer Sophia Mendosa was on the Tonight Show yesterday where she was interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel and also sung on the show as a guest star. She opened the show by singing her hit song Break Free, which was garnered good responses from the live crowd. After the performance she left the stage while all the other segments took place. Afterwards, towards the end of the show, she was called out by Jimmy to again what was a huge crowd response. She was doing a pretty average interview, until she was asked what was next. She was asked what was next for her in her career, and what came next has been going viral over-night. After the question was asked she replied, 'You know what, it doesn't matter what's next. You know, I'm just gonna keep going. There is no stopping Sophia. 'cause you know what, I'm da bomb'.  'THE BOYHOOD DREAM HAS COME TRUE' LUVONIA WINS THE WORLD CUP After a hectic game yesterday at the Nike Stadium in Sparta, Luvonia beat Tytor to win the World Cup. The team beat Tytor in what has been considered 'the worst upset in sports history' with a score of 3-1. Harris 'The Iron Heart' Stalone was the man of this match as he's always been. He, scored two goals throughout the game and shined like he always does. The first half was DEVESTATING for Tytor, after it ended 3-0. The first of these scores was made by the Iron Heart after a nice pass from Dannis Goodman (who also had a good game). The next one was scored by the aforementioned Dannis Goodman, who made it from a very hard angle one that might'd though impossible but nonetheless made it in. And the last score for the Luvonian was scored by the Iron Heart once again, during the final minutes of the first half. It was noteworthy that the Tytor crowd had been greatly shocked at that point, so had the Luvonian (although in a much better light). During the second half Tytor tried to amount comeback, after comeback, after comeback. Only for it to have been stopped in it's tracks by the Luvonians. But the Tytor team didn't wanna go down without a fight, and that fight was very honourable of them. During the last two minutes when most of the hope was lost, and everyone knew the Luvonians had won, the Tytorian team was able to find it's way through to and was able to have the last laugh. They had the last laugh and scored the last goal. Unfortunately, it was too late for the team, and it ended 3-1. Now the match has been made very memorable, especiallu after the Luvonian commentator, Jack Utah, shouted 'THAT IS IT! THE BOYHOOD DREAM HAS COME TRUE!' Edited by Luvonia, 1st April 2016 - 05:44 AM.

 LUVONIA STARTS DIPLOMATIC TALKS WITH SENTEBIA Luvonia has extended its hand of diplomatic friendship again, after it was confirmed that the Vice President of Sentebia was to meet with King Lukas IV in Monescar to discuss greater ties between the two of their nations. This is Sentebia's first stride in trying to make itself known to the international community, as it seems like this is the first meeting of it's kind for Sentebia. The most recent development was when the Vice President arriving instead of the expected President, Mr. Wikkits. The meeting is going to take specifically in the Summer Royal Palace, where they are expected to lay the foundations for a mutually beneficial relationship.  FOREIGN MINISTER TO MAKE UBAKASA A NEW 'FRIEND' The Luvonian Minister for foreign affairs will be attending a state dinner in Ubakasa in response to a note. Yesterday said note was sent out to the nations of Mundus by the President of Ubakasa, Juvenal Massaquo, telling the world that Ubakasa needs 'friends'. It asked that all the nations of Mundus have people attend a state dinner at the Ubakasan Presidential Palace. The note mainly described how they needed more allies than just Tytor, and that Tytor has been 'drifting away' from their 'mutually beneficial relationship'. So far three nations have responded to the note and will be attending the dinner, Luvonia, Mercia, and Samsarah.  LUKAS V STARTS TALKS WITH THE MIROMA CLAN Recently Toshikawa has opened up diplomatically, allowing some of its major clans to have meetings and talks with other nations. East Moreland was the first to take up meetings, specifically the Nekhaga Clan, but now Luvonia has followed suit. King Lukas V, Heir to the Royal Throne of Luvonia, has sent a note to the Miroma Clan. The note was quite vague, but mainly pointed out for a cultural exchange. There have been lots of speculation on what it might be, but the leading theory is some sort of luxury boat, mainly because it's one of the Miroma's specialties. King Lukas V is expected to meet with the Miroma Clan in Toshikawa, to 'establish ties with not just your clan but the rest of the Shogunate'.  LUVONIA PARTICIPATES IN THE OLYMPICS After the Olympics were recently announced, Luvonia was one of the first countries to announce their participation in the leap yearly event. Tytor is currently hosting the event, with Sparta leading the Olympics, with the most amount of golds. Although Luvonia has been giving up lackluster performances, the coaches are still optimistic to even be in the event.  ANARCHIST DESTROY A CAPITAL; VEROVER GETS A NEW ONE Hoofstadt was the former capital of Verover. The city had been the center of Verover for over a century and a half, but has recently came to a devastating end. After an anarchist protest turned bad most of the participants took to the streets of Hoofstadt to burn it down. The anarchist took to the streets in the first place after the short outbreak of an unknown virus. They put blame towards the government believing they hadn't done enough to control whilst it was around. Since then a referendum took place to decide what city should become the new capital for Verover. The city of Petrograd won the majority of the vote, and has now became the capital city. Verover has recently sent out an open letter to all the nations of the world inviting their heads-of-state to Petrograd and develop relationships with Verover. Many nations have responded and more are expected to attend, including us (Luvona), Dijel, Sparta, Achkaerin and more. Verover is hoping that it will lead to a neutral era of prosperity for the nation, and all Mundus can do is just wait and see. |

 COMPANY RAISES THE PRICE OF AIDS FIGHTING DRUG BY $736 When the cost of a popular drug that treats life-threatening parasitic infections increased 5,000 percent, it caused concern for many. Daraprim fights toxoplasmosis, which infects people whose immune systems have been weakened by AIDS, chemotherapy and pregnancy, according to the Center of Disease Control. It's also used to treat malaria. Turing Pharmaceuticals of Deveron bought the drug from Impax Laboratories in August for $55 million and raised the price from $13.50 a tablet to $750.GlaxoSmithKline sold the drug for about $1 a tablet after being approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 1953. CorePharma bought it in 2010 and Impax Laboratories bought Core and all affiliated companies for $700 million last year. For some patients, this hike in price brings the annual cost of treatment to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Even those with insurance could be paying $150 a tablet. The company will be putting the money it makes into developing better treatments for toxoplasmosis, with fewer side effects. They also plan on investing in marketing and education tools to make people more aware of the disease. Daraprim isn't the only drug to increase their price in recent months. The average cost of brand-name medications rose 13 percent in 2013, according to a report from the Prime Institute at the University of Solunier. New cancer drugs now cost over $100,000 a year. "This isn't the greedy drug company trying to gouge patients, it is us trying to stay in business," Martin Shkreli, the founder and CEO of Turing, told the Halgrad Times. |

 PHARMACEUTICAL GIANTS RESPOND TO PRICE RAISE After Turing has recently raised the price of the AIDs fighting drug known as Daraprim, two big pharmaceutical giants have responded with two differing actions. Abstergo was first to respond after it was made known on the Rokkenjiman Broadcasting Corporation Corporation that they were developing a new Daraprim alternative. In an interview with the RBC Abstergo CEO Patricius Bateson made the announcement about the new drug, which is yet to be named. "The substitute formulation which Abstergo is prepared to present to Imperial regulatory bodies for approval is a customized formulation which can be used to treat toxoplasmosis, which is the ailment which AIDS patients have come to rely upon Daraprim to control. While I respect Turing's right to charge patients and insurance companies whatever it believes is appropriate there may certainly be more cost-effective compounded options for medications, such as Daraprim, for patients, physicians, and insurance companies to consider." As this was a blow towards Turing another came in from Lord Lucas Osman, founder and CEO of OsmanTech. He yesterday referred to Turing as 'scumbags' in an interview with Northfort News. "On the 11th July 2014 I made the decision that our company would release the patents of every single anti-retroviral drug that we had developed. This has been a decision that has cost my company vast amounts of money, however it is the best decision I have ever made. We have always tried to act ethically, be it buying our resources direct from farmers and insisting on fair trade projects being used whenever possible. Despite these actions we have still be able to make sizeable profits that have seen us able to reinvest in companies developing clean energy, water cleaning projects and space exploration. Now we see a company aiming to place profits over lives, we have shown that this is unnecessary and the only excuse for doing so is if your scumbags. Had Abstergo Industries not announced their intention to ensure an affordable supply of daraprim we would have. I now wish Abtergo the best in their project and if we can be of any support then we will." Turing is yet to respond to these recent actions, and as it goes by it only starts heating up.  MARTIN SHKRELI INTERVIEW WITH THE HALGRAD TIMES After the recent controversies and actions surrounding the price-raise of daraprim and Turing's involvement in the situation, CEO of the company Martin Shkreli went into an interview with one of the Halgrad Times' prime writers Alexander Harron. Here are the major questions from the article paired with Martin Shkreli's answers. Q: So, firstly, I'll take the more controversial response made out of your company's recent decision. So how do you feel about Lucas Osman's comments, with him calling your company and what I'd say you in particular a bunch of 'scumbags'? A: Well honestly, I don't care. That, well, old man to us is a scumbag himself. I don't care if he's an influential royal and a rich man, he's just another one of the many protesting against our decision. To us his opinion isn't greater than all the others people have put before us. So yeah, I don't really care about 'Lord' Lucas and I don't care about his words. Q: Alright, I think that's enough addressing on that situation. Now let's look to Abstergo. What did you first think when you heard of their daraprim alternative? A: I was, well, in the dirt. Actually, that's a bit too light, I was batsh*t crazy. I mean, I honestly would've punched a man if there was one nearby. It's a real threat to our business, but we need to do what we can do while we can. Q: Well do you respect Abstergo's decision to make the alternative? A: Despite my pent up rage over their decision to make the indirectly fatal move, I can't argue with what they've decided to do. I mean, being the cynical and cunning man that I am I probably would've done what they'd done. But don't take that the wrong way. Although I used the adjectives 'cynical' and 'cunning' don't think that'd collate with my original intent. Not to murder people with the price raise, but to try and keep a business going, Q: Have you seen the trending hashtag '#TuringScumbags' and the social media backlash against your decisions? A: I have seen it and again, I honestly don't care. Like what I said before with Lucas, it's just another thing we've had to brush off with our recent actions. But I've only spectated the reactions, I've barely used social media sites. Which I know might seem odd for a CEO but I just haven't gotten 'round to it. So what could we take away from this? Firstly we can say that Turing is going to try and milk their price raise until the Abstergo alternative is approved. And secondly we can say that Turing will keep going regardless of backlash. Most economic analyst suggest that this won't end well for Turing once the alternative is approved, but we're just going to have to wait and see as this hot situation only starts to get more heat. |

 TURING'S STOCKS PLUMMET DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE After the Rokkenjiman Broadcasting Corporation had announced that the Abstergo daraprim alternative, Pyrimleu, had been given the green-light by PFSB (Pharmaceutical and Food Safety Bureau), the stocks of expensive daraprim owners Turing Pharmaceuticals have been dropping at a consistently worrying pace. Ever since the alternative was given a green-lit the sales of daraprim have gone down by a dramatic 90%. This was caused when many of Turing's main business partners started to back away from the company to instead focus most of their effort on boosting out Pyrimleu. As a consequence many of the company's shareholders have been pulling out and Turing's bank loans have been taken back by several large banks. Since this is a currently developing situation which has only been going on for a day we are yet to hear an announcement from Turing in some shape or form. But many speculate that the company will file for bankruptcy. It seems as though all the analyst were right. The final blow has been dealt with the introduction of Pyrimleu. Turing is probably done for now, but we can only just wait and see. |
