Du Toit Signs In Major Police Reforms  Following the fatal police shooting that resulted in the death of a 39 year old woman and the wounding of her 8 year old son, the police promised an internal investigation. The investigation found the officer not guilty of any wrongdoing. In response the Kaiser promised a "major shakeup" to the existing system. Today, almost a month later, the promise is fulfilled with the signing of the Good Watcher Laws. The Laws are designed to place a number of checks on police officers while removing the old law enforcement culture. One of the major hallmarks of the bill is that no longer will live ammunition be standard issue for patrol officers. In addition all police officers are required to carry a taser gun and a handheld taser. But the Laws does not just focus on police equipment. The entire police training system is receiving an overhaul. All police schooling from this day is shut down until the academies prove they have adapted to the new system. Training will now take a full year in order for officers to be ready to handle all situations. In addition after graduating from the academy, recruits will be placed on a six month probational employment by the police force. After the first 6 months they will be evaluated in ensure they meet the standards for the job. Perhaps the heart of the laws is the changes to how investigations into police officers is done. No longer will the police conduct internal investigations, but rather will submit to an independent government agency. After the agency feels they have gathered sufficient information they will pass on a report to a district attorney who then decides if the officer should go to trial. Lastly the Good Watcher Laws adds some changes to the penitentiary system. Firstly, the punishment for soft drugs will be lessened. The death penalty has been removed and youth detention centers are being completely changed. Instead of a youth form of prison, detention centers will focus on rehabilitation programs as well as offering top notch education services. |

"5th Battalion" Raised  On the eve of the Quintax elections a military parade was held in Hammerfell. The parade consisted of the 1,000 newest recruits to the Quintax military, the reveal of the new Rangers. The Rangers are to be an special fighting force that will represent the Confederacy within the Internationa Freedom Rangers Association (IFRA). As an elite troop devoted to helping spread the seeds of revolution, Hammerfell was specifically chosen to unveil the Rangers to the world due to the city being the birthplace of the People's Revolution. The Confederacy has great plans for the Rangers, who will undergo a special training regiment. They will spend 2 months with each of the 4 Battalions. Hopefully, the Rangers will be able to learn the best traits from all of them, as well as establishing working relationships for when the Rangers may have to work with the Battalions. |

Industrial Party Sweeps the Elections  The votes has finally been counted and QPBN is proud to be the first to announce the results: Industrial Party - 22 Representatives White Party - 17 Representatives Red Party - 14 Representatives People's Party - 12 Representatives Traditionalist Party - 5 Representatives In a surprising twist the Industrial Party does not hold the position of Vox Populi. Rather than voting for one of their own, the People's Party decided to throw in their support with the Red Party. This allowed for the Red Parties candidate, Marie-Noëlle Poullain, to be able to beat out the Industrial Party candidate. This could also mark the beginning of a powerful political alliance between the Red and People's Parties. |

Nation Tightens Eastern Border  Given the developing events in neighboring Toshikawa, the Confederacy fears that civil war is unavoidable. As such they have begun to take measures in order to prepare for the coming war. The first and perhaps the most controversial is the tightening of the eastern border, the one connected to Toshikawa. Not only that, but a military presence will now be at every entry point, along with military patrols protecting the rest of the border. For the first time in the Confederacy's history immigrants and refugees be denied entry. Advocates for the measures state that the Toshikawa people are unstable, and international terrorists may enter Quintax seeking to do destruction. For the good of the Quintaxan people, heightened security must be in place. While opponents state that these measures go against everything the Confederacy stands for. The debate continues to wage in the government, with the pro faction holding only a small lead in the Conclave. |

The Mixtape Revolution  It is commonplace in the Confederacy to, even today, years later, compare today's life to the life before the Revolution. But perhaps an example that most exemplifies these changes is the new music industry. Before, when corporations control record labels and musical artist, the industry was driven by profits. Artists' whose music would not guarantee money were often turned away. This lead to the continuation of "mainstream" music dominating in an endless cycle. There was no room for new sounds that could threaten the money making machinery. But today, in the new Confederacy, the music industry is extremely different. What has sometimes been called the Mixtape Revolution or the new Mixtape Culture is the new normal. The corporations are all gone. Anyone who is willing and write, produce, and record their own music at the dime of the government. Now there are some limitations of this. Artists aren't paid until the final product is done. After the firs release, if the music flops, the government isn't likely to fund a second venture. This doesn't mean that making music is easy. Artist have to spend all the previous hard work creating their music. Then after its release, they have to promote themselves. They make sure their names get out there by all sorts, free concerts, publicity stunts, street performances, handing out free demos. But despite all this work, many musicians believe the new system is far better. Khalif Diouf, also known by his stage name Le1f, was quoted as saying, "the new system is fair. The government gives everyone an equal chance to prove themselves. But in the end its up to the musicians. And you gotta want it, cause if you don't there are a dozen others who will. At the end of the day, the music that speaks to people, the music people want to hear, that's what thrives." Indeed since the Mixtape Revolution, hundreds of new artists and new genres of music have risen. From garage rappers like Kitty Pride and Le1f, to Flatsound who classifies is music as "sad," to indie artists like Allison Weiss, and finally art pop artists Grimes. And this is not even close to a complete list. Everyday new musicians are putting out music and the list continues to grow. |

Poullian Speaks Out Against Rokkenjima's Remarks  The developing situation in Toshikawa has put many nations on edge, especially the neighboring states. As such, the Confederacy has taken steps to help the prevent growing concerns in the international community. But not everyone is pleased. Rokkenjima has issued multiple statements against the Quintaxan support of the new Ikko Ikki Republic of Rennyo. Many Quintaxan officials are fearful that they are asking for trouble from the First Empire. But some are taking a stand. One of the major leaders of this movement is Vox Populi Marie-Noëlle Poullain. "Rokkenjima continues to dance around the real issues. Their support of the Ouchi Shogunate is a mistake. The Shogunate has failed the Toshikawa people. We have helped hold a referendum in Rennyo that has allowed the people to chose their own path, and they chose the path of independence. As such, the Quintax Confederacy will throw the newly formed Ikko Ikki Republic of Rennyo our full support, including military support if tyrannical powers seek to destroy the Republic. Rokkenjima may have warned against 'foreign meddling,' but the work we are doing is the will of the people. And next time they issue a statement, I suggest they openly call out the Confederacy, rather than hiding behind a vague declaration. Just because Rokkenjima has a pointy stick and influential history does not mean they are always correct." |

SVER Prepares for Toshikawa War  Following the cyber-attacks against Rokkenjima, they have massed military forces on the Rennyo border. Quintax forces were entirely unprepared and if Rokkenjima had conducted a surprise attack, it would take valuable time for the Confederate military to respond. Not wanting to be taken advantage of again by any of the various factions involved in the Toshikawa Civil Crisis, Kaiser Du Toit has ordered her most trusted Baron to move her entire battalion on the Toshikawa border. Quintax officials also maintain a position that the attacks are unlikely to originate from the Ikko Ikki government, citing that doing so would have no benefit. The Red Party has even gone so far as to state that any militaristic action by Rokkenjima against Rennyo without "reasonable evidence will be met with all force that if deemed necessary and proper." In addition, the continuing debate in the Conclave discussing the closing of the Toshikawa border has finally been settled. With a coalition of Representatives from various different parties uniting to indiscriminately reopen the border. In addition they are also urging all Toshikawa citizens to enter the Confederacy as refugees in order to escape the coming war. |

Kaiser Appeals to the First Empire to Reconsider  In a startling surprise, Kaiser Alexandrine Du Toit, granted me an interview yesterday. This is the first time the Kaiser has allowed any media outlet a direct interview. Of course, much of our talk was centered around the Toshindai Civil War. Given the recent comments coming from Rokkenjima about the Confederacies' involvement, the Kaiser had this to say. "It seems once again Quintax and Rokkenjima are drawn into unnecessary conflict. This war of words and posturing between us must end. Empress Anselmo needs to see this. As we speak, Confederate forces are fighting to protect the Toshindainesse. This is no longer a matter of who is right and who is wrong. Given Rokkenjima's new stance on Rennyo, they should understand. Quintax will not be criticized while our people sacrifice their lives for this cause. While the Kyata Defence is a worthy mission, what about the many who fall on the wrong side of the border?" "If you could instruct Rokkenjima on what to do next what would it be?" "I would not dare. It is not my place nor my right. Instead I beg them, think of the innocents first. Quintax soldiers are doing that they can to fight the insurgents, and we do not ask for military aid. We instead ask for humanitarian aid for the civilians who have been shamefully targeted by their own government." "And what will you do once the war criminals, as you called them, are captured?" "Our forces have been instructed to ensure that these animals are eliminated at all costs. While we want them alive, Confederate troops have been ordered to kill them if they can not be captured. Another Body Found in Rosegarden  Last night yet another body was found dead in Rosegarden. The body looked to have been stabbed multiple times and on a nearby wall written in the victim's own blood was the world "murderer." This is the third body found under these circumstances. The first two were two woman, Adèle Dubuisson and Natacha Rochette were found drowned at a local pond last week. A note was left by their bodies that said, "embezzler." The identity of the third victim is unknown at this time. Police are beginning to suspect that they are looking for a serial killer, and several high-profile psychologists are being brought on the case. Police are telling anyone who has a possible lead or that knew the two woman to step forward immediately. The also warn that it is likely that now that the killer has a taste for blood, the pace of their killings is likely to continue. |

Coach Nadia Crozier Speaks About Poor Performance at Vafleon  After the terrible opening performance at the Royal Vafleon Grand Prix, many Quintax Formula One fans are fearful for the rest of the season. Both QPR drivers were unable to finish due to car power failures. Coach Nadia Crozier held a press conference promising that this was a fluke and Quintax fans would have nothing to worry for the rest of the season. "This was not any fault of the drivers. Our crews are investigating the cause and it will be fixed for next weeks race in Dijel. We might be in the bottom right now, but we still have a long way to go and anything is possible." Despite Crozier's assurances, many are still disillusioned. This is not only the first international competition for a Quintax Formula One team, but the first racing season for the consolidated Quintax People's Racing. The QPR is a racing conglomerate of national Formula One teams looking to break out on the international stage. While the QPR might have the best Quintax drivers and crews, their lack of experience and collaboration could make this a very disappointing season for racing fans. Special Conclave Meeting Called  With the Battle of Fawn Valley finished, the Bukan forces have been defeated. This comes after the death of Su Mai Nekhaga left the Bukan army in disarray. Now in with peace dawning on Toshindai, the a special session of the Populi Conclave has been convinced. Kaiser Du Toit will also be in attendance. The Conclave is to discuss the Confederacy's position within Toshindai, the Karisuto Kakumei Revolution, and the coming Second Round Table meeting. The Kaiser has also asked for the Conclaves assistance to decide the fate of the rouge Baroness Roxane Féret, who lead a portion of SVER forces in the Battle of Fawn Valley without any consideration or approval. Féret has been stripped of command of the Toshindai forces, the title of Superior of the Toshindai Front passing to Baron Patrice Clair. Her twin sister Count Victoria Féret has been lobbying in favor of her sister, asking that any punishment be minor. Jacquemin Has a Good Showing In Practice  After last weeks failure in Vafleon, Formula 1 fans have something to rejoice. Driver Gaetan Jacquemin had two amazing practice runs on the Dijelibeybi Grand Prix track. Finishing third and then first in the rounds. After the double power failure last week, the QPR has much to make up for. A number of anonymous sources have stated that if the QPR continues to unperformed, Coach Crozier could lose her job. Crozier, of course, is the Quintax Formula 1 legend, who to this day holds the record at the national track. She was the first woman to preform on the national formula one stage, but tragically her career ended early after a crash on the track too one of her eyes. Many continue to speculate how different the racing scene would be if she was still able to compete. |

Conclave Nominates Round Table Representatives  During yesterday's special session of the Conclave, the representatives the Confederacy will send to the second round table meeting have been finalized. Leading the delegation is Baron Patrice Clair, Superior of the Toshindai Front. Clair is currently in charge of all lands jointly control by Quintax and Karisuto Kakumei forces. Vox Populi Marie-Noëlle Poullain will be in attendance, but in a more observant role. Akiyama Hidekazu, one of the many leaders of the Karisuto Kakumei, will join the Quintaxan party to provide a native voice. Takaki Takayuki, former farmer and war hero, has also been nominated as a reward for his service and to provide the voice of a common Toshindainese. In addition, the Conclave made it known that the Quintax delegation will in no way be representative of Karisuto Kakumei, stating that they will have to decide on their own whom to send. The Conclave made little headway into deciding the fate of Baroness Roxane Féret. The Countess Victoria Féret, while not a member of the Conclave, leads the faction against harsh punishment. Leader of the White Party leads the those in favor of harsh punishment, stating "...she risked Quintaxan lives without any regard. She quietly marshaled her forces on a mission, which she told no one about. We cannot set an example within our own leadership that the military can operate in such fashion and get away with it. Next thing we know, we will have soldiers crossing into Rennyo without permission and disrupting the hard won peace in Toshindai." Kaiser Du Toit is undecided on the issue. |

Shakespeare Week Begins  The famous Globe Theatre in Northreach, home to the great playwright William Shakespeare, reopens today just in time for the annual Shakespeare Week. The Globe was closed a few months ago after structural faults were found within the foundation. Since then construction crews have worked around the clock to make the building up to code in time for today. Many speculated that they would not finish in time, but just a few hours ago the doors were opened. Shakespeare Week is a whole week devoted to honoring the playwright. During the week, the Globe Theatre preforms every single one of his 37 plays back-to-back. But in recent years the festival has blown up. All along the surrounding streets, performers reading Shakespearean sonnets, acting out parts of his life, and preforming pieces of his play can be found. Street venders sells renaissance style food and trinkets to those wandering through. This is the busiest time for the Modern Shakespeare Company, who are responsible for all 37 of the plays performed in the Globe this week. The Company spends most of the year preparing for these 7 days, working to make sure each play is better than last year's. Kaiser Du Toit and Countess Victoria Féret attended the opening performance of Hamlet. Du Toit was honored to sit in the same spot that Queen Elizabeth of Northreach sat during Shakespeare's time. |

Cultists Arrested in Connection to Various Crimes  During a police raid last night in Cursewich, a number of cultists belonging to the Church of the Tentacle were arrested. In addition a number of arrest warrants have been issued for other cult members. They are wanted for a wide variety of crimes; drug possession/sale, drug trafficking, conspiracy to overthrow the government, conspiracy to corrupt public morals, conspiracy to outrage public decency, bribery, solicitation of prostitution, public intoxication, resisting arrest, disrupting the peace, fraud, and tax evasion. The current doctrine of the Church is unknown, but the majority of members are teenagers and adults in their 20s. There are a couple of notable exceptions including the Church's founder, Elli Lemmer. Lemmer remains at large. Currently the Confederate government does not recognize the Church of the Tentacle as an official religion. |

Cult War?  Following the recent crack down on the Church of the Tentacle, police have received new information from those arrested in Cursewich. Apparently for the last few months members of the Church of the Tentacle have been engaging in a holy war against the mysterious Cult of the Great Destroyer. Unsure of how to respond, the Governor of Cursewich has authorized the militarization of the police force as well as request for support from the Kaiser. He fears that with the religious war now thrust into the public's eye, the war could escalate and get more violent. This comes just hours after the first reports of major rioting in Rosegarden. A number of people are calling for Kaiser Du Toit to place the nation in a state of emergency until these problems can be sorted out. |

Alexandrine Du Toit: The Greatest Warmonger of Our Time  This news corporation has received numerous reports and documents from various sources containing a horrible truth. Our beloved Kaiser has been lying to use. This woman that we thought of as a champion of honor and virtue is nothing more than a fake. During the Toshindai Civil War, Du Toit ordered famous medical doctor Gilles de Rais to conduct experiments on Toshindai refugees. The nature of these experiments are far too graphic to include any details. Rais worked closely with Baron Patrice Clair during the conflict, ensuing the secrecy of there actions. In addition, a number of correspondences between the Kaiser and other officials and close friends reveal that she desired for Quintax to capture as much of Toshindai as possible in order to increase the Confederacy's power. She did not care for the loss of life on either side, caring only for a heightening of her influence. The letters become more and more sinister, with Du Toit wanting to set her sights on the rest of Mundus, slowly conquering the world. A special session of the Populi Conclave has already been called only a few days after the last one. Many are calling for the Kaiser's resignation and imprisonment until a trial can be conducted. She has refused to respond to any of these claims and is now traveling to Rosegarden to oversee the situation that continues to grow more concerning. |

Confederacy Begins Restoration of Famous Vessels  With Royal Merriman University recently discovering the remains of the infamous HMS Duke Adam, the Confederacy has decided to restore its own famous ships from the same legends, the IS Nightrunner and the IS Old Paladin. Both of the ships had been mothballed during the first few months of the Confederacy, their expenses shifted to help with the reconstruction. But officials have decide that now makes the most sense to make them sea worthy once again. In addition, the Conclave has offered a reward to the University if they can find and return the remains of the IS Necromancer. The Necromancer was sunk during a battle with the HMS Duke Adam, although historians are unsure if the ships fought together or against each other. They hope that recovering the ship could shed some light on one of the greatest mysterious from the Golden Age of Piracy. |

President Herzberg Declares State of Emergency  In his first public appearance since announcing his position as President, Herzberg discussed the current state of the Confederacy. He opened by declaring a nation-wide state of emergency. This comes as a response to the assassinations and riots in both Rosegarden and Cursewich. In addition, the President closed the Quintax borders, allowing no one to enter. He offered these words by way of explanation, "the investigation into the recent assassinations is just beginning and we are looking into all possible avenues. Many people still harbor a deep hatred towards Quintax for the once long standing alliance with the Ardian Empire. The killings could be the work of foreign extremists or, hopefully not, state sponsored operatives. Till this can be ruled out, we must take precautions to ensure the safety of our people and the stability of our nation." With Rokkenjima, and other nations, looking to begin the extraction of their citizens, the President promised to help as much as possible. He also called the First Empire's suspension of diplomatic recognition, "understandable, but regretful." As for concerns about Quintaxan forces in Toshindai, a join proposal between the President and Karisto Kakumei leaders was issued, outlining the removal of Confederate forces to be replaced by local forces. As for the Rokkenjiman call for a multinational force taking over peacekeeping and humanitarian duties, Herzberg stated that "the situation is presently no longer [a Quintaxan] concern, the Confederacy needs to focus on domestic issues. The multinational force idea would need to be taken up with the Karisto Kakumei." |

Border Skirmishes Begin  Following Roxane Féret's declaration of succession, SVER troops have clashes with Confederate forces across the Northreach region. While many have feared that Quintax has been looming on the brink of civil war, this battles have jumpstarted the struggle. Mere minutes after Féret's declaration, both the Herzberg administration and the Du Toit regime fired back. The President called the statement, "a gross misuse of power." While Kaiser Joan warned that, "Roxane can either back down now, or we will force Northreach to lay down their blades at my feet." The two also had words for each other. Kaiser Joan called the Herberg administration a "facade, no one even elected the so called President of the Confederacy." Herberg fired back stating that, "Quintax is no longer a monarchy, the time for Kaisers ruling the land is over. Du Toit should honorably step down before she brings more shame to the nobility." The President has grown more bold with Baron Chappelle's endorsement. Chappelle's show of allegiance came as a massive surprise, with the Ravenhost still undecided on which faction to support. Current;y the military forces on all three sides remain evenly matched, with Cerberus Battalion is falling apart in the absence of former Baron Clair. Baron Trudeau has chosen to remain neutral, moving the Dragon Hunters to the Temple of Peace and declaring the area a safe zone in the coming war. If Trudeau and his men take a more active role in the coming conflict, they will be the deciding factor on which faction has the largest militant forces. |

God-Emperor Issues Fallen Star Proclamation  Earlier today, the Dominion government released the first draft of the new constitution, dubbed the 'Fallen Star Proclamation.' While the Proclamation is not official, it contains many radical shifts from previous Quintax policies. The two major shifts are in the military and economy. The God-Emperor hopes to slash the military, keeping only defense force that also serves as local police. Military equipment is to be sold or scraped to a more "manageable' size. The military industry is to be reassigned to commercial purposes, the hope is that the Dominion in the next few years can become one of the leaders in arms manufacturing. The Dominion will increase its ICBM stockpile and rely on its foreign alliances as a deterrent to unwanted aggression. The profits made from selling military equipment and the increased income from arms manufacturing is to be reinvested in the Quintax economy- research grants, public works, education reforms, and tax cuts. In addition, the Dominion is looking at the possibility of adopting a new currency. Military Intervention Demanded By Masses  Following the declaration by Rokkenjima to cut off Protoan supply lines, effectively eliminating the Protoan military power in the region, thousands took to the streets demanding the Dominion to enter the Ionian conflict in support of the Nir'Shado. The protestors are supported by a number of government officials believing Rokkenjima closing off the entry into the Rokkenjima trade set a dangerous precedent. Following the declaration of secession by the Nir'Shado, many within the nation are calling for military support to the Ionian counterpart of the Watchmen. One demostrater summed up the general belief, "When Hira created the Hallowed Dominion, he called for a state encompassing all followers of Crissaar. Why should our Ionian brothers and sister be left out?" Ascended Lilith, the liaison to the IA, had this to say, "The sea my be named after the First Empire, but they are not the only ones that rely on it. If we allow Rokkenjima to continue, what's to say that next time they won't be closing off our trade routes.. The God-Emperor may wish for a new page in our relations, but its because of actions like this that Quintax has a less than favorable history with our northern neighbor. Dominion Ends Isolation With Passage of Fallen Star Proclamation  God-Emperor Hira won a great victory today by finally legitimizing the new government of Quintax. The nation has spent the last few months bickering over the the fine text of the new constitution forcing the Dominion to all but disappear from international politics. Hira's closest advisors say that the Dominion will not waste any time getting back to business, already the Council of 13 are gathered to discuss the rise of the new Imperial States of Ardia. With the annexation of Nova Ardia, the question of the future of Ionia is ever present. CTO's continued presence in the nation is seen as an insult to many across the Dominion, but they could prove a powerful ally in securing the sovereignty of Ionia for generations. So far the only official statement on the Imperial States of Ardia comes from the God-Emperor, himself. "This is a unique time for Ardia. Su Mai is a cunning woman, but so are Rokkenjima and Achkaerin. The Dominion is concerned only with the protection of our brethren in Ionia and we don't owe either side anything. It will be sometime before any decision is made, till then, we are more than willing to talk with both sides." |
