Ok, so having finally found the time I decided to get around to what I term my 'subsidiary' map projects, basically a series of maps covering more detailed stuff to hopefully add to the RP detail, so considering the recent revival of the Illumic Council and the proposed Sea of Kyne Fellowship (not to mention the other various alliances/organisations defined by sea boundaries) I decided to do the sea boundary one first:![]() Now for a bit of fun, the ocean that has the purple line in the Strait of Arovium and the black lines running across the 'globe' (essentially the body of water just north of where Hygelac is on the normal map this is the base map for the land mass's) presently has no name, additionally the inland sea on Cotf Aranye has no name. Therefore I'm hereby declaring a competition to name these bodies of water- anyone who wishes to propose an idea or ideas please PM them to me, I will then after an appropriate amount of time open a poll for everyone to make the decision. Please note however that if I get a lot of suggestions I shall narrow the field down myself to six suggestions. Edited by Achkaerin, 21st February 2016 - 11:21 PM.

![]() i made this for hrael but the differences between places should remain the same. It's a nautical navigation map. I assumed it would take 2 days for an aircraft carrier (mine, anyway) to travel 1000km. so i made a bunch of 1000km diameter circles and then colored over it to make a sensible gradient. So now, if i wanted to blockade Vendosia, i know it would take 38 days whether i go through the arctic circle or through the mhorish channel. I just needed a rule of thumb, for scale. I hope other people find this useful too! edit: I just noticed a flaw. There's a seam approximately by the Sea of Kyne. There's a portion that's accessible in 38 days if you go through the mhorish channel, but it's DEFINITELY not 38 days away if you go via felysia or through the arctic circle. I'm not quite sure how to resolve this, as the numerous paths have to converge somewhere. It's good enough for a rule of thumb, anyway. An ACTUAL map of the time it takes to get anywhere would be much more difficult to make. [edit2] Oh, right, fastest possible route. So you can get to anywhere on the map in AT LEAST that amount of time. if you deviate from the fastest route it's going to take longer. As you were, folks. we're good! ![]() Dug this up because someone was asking climate questions, provided by Genstatum a while ago. This is a guideline not a hard and fast rule. |
