  PRINCESS CAIT GIVES BIRTH TO HEALTHY SON In the early hours of yesterday Princess Cáit gave birth to a healthy son in the Kingdom of Cantabria. The youngest sister of King Finley was married in February last year to Crown Prince Cóemgein of Cantabria in an arranged marriage designed to promote continued harmony between the two Kingdoms. The new born Prince is to be named Fitzgerald, a name that features heavily in both royal families histories. Speaking from Cliath Castle King Finley was delighted at the news. "It's fantastic to be an uncle once more, I've already passed on my congratulations to my sister and brother-in-law, it is my intention of travelling to Cantabria as soon as possible so that I can see my nephew, to know that one day my own son's cousin will sit on our neighbours throne reassures me of the future of our Kingdoms." Princess Cáit is said to be doing well and is likely to leave hospital with her new born son later tomorrow. The birth marks the first member of royalty to share a Uí Ceinnselaig and Cantabrian nationality and King Finley is keen for him to get to know both nations. "While our two Kingdoms share a common bond of language and cultures there are some differences, we follow the Celtic Christian Faith while they follow Catholicism, the difference are subtle but it does have a noticeable impact on our nations, I hope that he gets to know both equally and be understanding of them both." FLAG BURNING IN SCORDISCI ON REPUBLIC DAY  A video surfaced of Scordisci Nationalists burning the flag of Uí Ceinnselaig on their national day to celebrate them breaking away from the Kingdom. The Far Right Scordisci Unionist paraded through the streets of their capital calling for the region of Ulmner to be made part of their nation. This region of Uí Ceinnselaig has been claimed by Scordisci Nationalists for the past 90 years believing it should have been given to them under the Treaty of the River between the two nations at the end of the war. At the end of the parade the group burnt flags of our Kingdom and called for the return of the territory. The President of Scordisci Einrí Stewart said, "We've been slowly rebuilding our national relations with our Uí Ceinnselaig neighbours , things are slowly improving and acts like this jeopardise the process that we have made." The region of Ulmner was subject to the most intense part of the discussions that lead to the Treat of the River, a decision that was largely swung by the presence of large numbers of Uí Ceinnselaig troops in the region already.  ARMY IN "SKIRMISH" IN ULMNER Members of the Uí Ceinnselaig Army were today attacked by improvised mortars fired into the Ulmner region by someone from the Scordisci side of the border. The fired shots fell short and as spotters moved forward to try and pin point were the terrorists were located came under fire from small arms. Members of the 2nd Celtic Rifles moved up to the border and with no Scordisci forces in the region engaged the enemy leaving six dead. This is not the first time that Scordisci terrorists have fired upon border troops in the region which some Scordiscians believe should belong to their nation, despite a referendum in 1980 confirming that 80% of the population wished to remain part of the Kingdom of Uí Ceinnselaig. King Finley later confirmed he had been aware of the situation and that his standing orders were for "our troops to robustly defend themselves and our Kingdom against any and all threats to the safety of our people." The Republic of Scordisci protested the fact that shots were fired into their nation however King Finley said, "We shall make no apologise for this, our men were attacked by cowards and did what I would expect any soldier to do, handle their business in a professional and skilled manner, the Scordiscians should get their own house in order." |

 SPECIAL FORCES MAKE ARRESTS IN SCORDISCI It was announced today that members of the King's Royal Rangers, the nations elite commando unit had last night crossed into neighbouring Scordisci and arrested two leading terrorists as well as killing two more. The men have yet to all be named however a spokesman did say that Seamus O'Logan was one of the two men killed, the man was a former political leader of the Scordiscians for Ulmner (SFU) a group dedicated to claiming the region for the Republic of Scordisci, something that goes against the 1980 referendum. The two men arrested are to be brought to the capital where they will stand trial for being part of the group that have fired shots into Ui Ceinnselaig recently injuring several citizens who live close to the border. The two are likely to be charged with attempted murder and terrorism. A member of the Republic of Scordisci's government stated, "We are appalled that our sovereignty has been violated and that our nationals have been effectively kidnapped. At no point where we given an opportunity to see evidence against these men and no chance for them to defend themselves. It is now our task to get these men their freedom and we shall do all we can to make this happen." Meanwhile King Finley has stated, "The Kingdom will do all that we need to do to enable our citizens to live in peace, if a nation shall take no action we shall."  KING VISITS NEW NEPHEW King Finley today made a visit to the Kingdom of Cantabria to visit his new nephew Prince Fitzgerald. The King spent the day with his nephew, sister Princess Cáit and brother-in-law Prince Cóemgein at their countryside retreat. The King refused to pose for photos with the press stating, "Today is no state visit, it is about me getting to hold the tiny hand of my new nephew, toast his birth with his Daddy and give my baby sister a hug. This is not about treaties, alliances or anything else, this is family and therefore private." The newborn Prince will one day be the King of Cantabria. |

 TERRORISTS ON TRIAL Today the trial of Connor O'Logan and Graeme Malky, both leading members of the Scordiscians for Ulmner (SFU) group will begin in the capital. The pair were recently captured by special forces following a cross boarder raid into Scordiscia following weeks of attacks on Ui Ceinnselaig forces patrolling the border. The O'Logan brothers have been in charge of the SFU since the early 2000's and been responsible for the deaths of around 100 people in attacks along the border as well as the destruction of around 20 farms. Elder brother Seamus who was the self-proclaimed leader of the SFU was killed in the same raid and his body brought back to Ui Ceinnselaig where it was verified as him later. The Ministry of Defence announced later that Seamus' body had been burnt and the ashes thrown into the sea. The trial has sparked out-rage in Scordiscia where our ambassador was called before their President. Ambassador McKee said, "It was a lot of hot air, I told them our opinion of them, they gave me their opinion of us, he yelled a bit and I told him that unless he wants further action taken he should step up and take responsibility for his own citizens. King Finley has made it clear we will not tolerate these attacks." It is likely if found guilty Connor O'Logan and Graeme Malky will face the death penalty. |

 NAVY TO GO ON LONG DISTANCE MANOUVERS It was confirmed today that a large fleet will be heading towards the Kyne as part of manouvers to practice long range deployments. The fleet will consist of the aircraft carrier Corbmac, the Ocean Class assault ship Tirech, four missile subs, eight destroyers and ten frigates. The ships will practice a range of different tactics and upon their return will be meet with a matching "enemy fleet" for a series of war games. The location of the exercise has been selected with one eye on the conflict between Austreos and Iunctus Ordo. Prince Lennox, a Major of the Royal Gallowglass Regiment, said, "This deployment is one I wish I was part of, the exercises sound exciting and their is the potential to deploy to an active operation that will benefit hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians." The Prince later went on to say, "We are glad to say East Moreland and Addysia take a stance against these war crimes. We had hoped to see CTO take a lead on this but sadly that's not been the case and I am aware that East Moreland may feel they can't take unilateral military action, we however do not have that concern." Prince Lennox was then asked if he would support the Kingdom joining the CTO and said, "No. The organisation is slow to react, if it reacts at all. We had toyed with joining but the response to this situation leaves a lot to be desired and as such we won't be joining unless their is major change."  PIPERS WELCOME GUESTS TO LOCHSIDE PALACE A mass gathering of pipes and drums welcomed guests from several nations including Luvonia, Sparta and Quintaxia to the Kingdom yesterday. The King hosted an event to celebrate the birth of Prince Fitzgerald of Cantabria, his new born nephew. The event was also attended by King Dywn of Cantabria, the childs grandfather. The guests were greeted at the airport and then driven to the Palace where the 700 drummers and pipers from the various clans descended from the surrounding ridge line playing traditional tunes. It was hoped by King Finley the day may have been used as a means of "soft diplomacy" and hoped that the "fruits of meetings may be seen in coming weeks."  O'LOGAN TO BE EXECUTED[/ Connor O'Logan was yesterday convicted of terrorism offences and sentenced to death. It is expected that any execution would further harm relations between Uí Ceinnselaig and Scordiscia which are already strained. The Judge said, as he sentenced O'Logan, "For the best part of five years you've waged a war of terror on innocent civilians who have long had their chance at independence should they wish, you seem to believe your opinion and voice carry more weight than the thousands that voted against independence in referendums. For that you have believed people deserve to die and began your despicable actions. You will now be removed from this situation for good allowing honest people to live their lives in safety." It is expected O'Logan will appeal the case and his nations government have already branded the trial "An illegal court case on a kidnapped civilian." |

 KING HAILS SUCCESSFUL TALKS King Finley today announced that the first talks with Western Ardian nations have been a success and that five of them have agreed to the formation of the Western Ardian Forum (WAF). The WAF is presently made up of Ui Ceinnselaig, Cantabria, South Hills, Sparta and Protoa and focuses on promoting regional co-operation. The King made the announcement from the Palace in Cliath.

 ONE IN ONE OUT FOR THE NAVY The aircraft carrier UCN Art today left Kiloden dockyards after being handed over to the Navy. The aircraft carrier will temporarily take the nations compliment of aircraft carriers up to seven before the UCN Fiechru retires from service. The new UCN Art will now spend several months undergoing testing and trials at sea before formally entering service, in addition to the aircraft carrier a new squadron of Hornet aircraft will enter service and be attached to the vessel. It is expected that the UCN Art's first voyage will see it head to the South end of the Illumic Channel to monitor pirate activity. The vessels first commander will be Commander James McCollen who said, "We shall not be engaging any pirates unless we come under fire. We shall use the situation as an opportunity to run drills, test our equipment and put the new aircraft through their paces. I'm just proud to be its first captain and its reassuring to know our nation is committed to maintaining its defence." Meanwhile Commander Lloyd Braddock of the UCN Fiechru will retire alongside his vessel which entered service in 1960, the fate of the vessel is unknown however many believe the nation may seek to sell the aircraft carrier on. Commander Braddock said, "The Fiechru is still a solid ship and could still fulfil a role for a navy somewhere. She's worked hard in her lifetime however and deserves a rest." Another aircraft carrier, built in Kildarney Dockyards is due to be delivered in two months and shall replace the UCN Daire Drechletchan. This is just part of a larger refit of the Navy which is seeing several older and outdated vessels replaced by newer versions.  QUEEN RIONA TO TAKE OVER FAMILY BUSINESS Following the sixth birthday of Princess Isobel this weekend Queen Riona has announced that she shall be returning to work taking over the Ó Séaghdha families business Empire. The former graduate of Ballymena Business Academy was formerly an investment banker before meeting the King and marrying and is now set to put her business expertise to work. The Queen shall take over a portfolio of farms, a silver and tin mine, Ballycroy Boats and the Ó Séaghdha Distillery, between them they make the royal family exceedingly wealthy in the nation. Furthermore the family employ over 8,000 people across the various companies and their farms. Seamus O'Lone of Ballycroy Boats said, "Its been a good few years for our company, however we are certain the Queen's experience of investments can help us grow even further. We look forward to the future and the knowledge that our business is part of the royal portfolio." |

 WAF TO SUPPORT IONIANS Following an appeal for help by the Ionia Confederacy to the Western Ardian Forum the majority of its membership have agreed to issue an ultimatum to the invading Nova Ardian Republic. King Finley announced the Kingdom's decision to support the ultimatum as he prepared to leave the Palace in order to watch his son play in his weekly Gaelic Football match.  PRINCE LENNOX SETTLES MERCIA ISSUE The Kings younger brother Prince Lennox has today agreed a deal with High King Rupert of Mercia that will potentially bring an end to hositlities in the troubled nation. The agreement will see members of the Ui Cenneslaig armed forces occupy a region of Mercia for the next twelve months, using it as a base of operations in order to carry out observations of Hassopian and Mercian military forces. The agreement creates the Celtic Protectorate which in all essence puts the region under the direct control of Ui Cenneslaig for all matters of law and order. Speaking upon his return to Ui Cenneslaig lines the Prince stated, "This will for the time being ensure the Cultists can try and return to their lives. We will be looking at making contact with that community over the next few days, speaking with their leaders and putting minds at rest that they are safe in their homes and that those responsible pay for crimes commited." The move is likely to see around 8,000 soldiers in Mercia for the next twelve months and has the support of the King who upon leaving Cabinet today said, "Lennox has done an outstanding job, together with his comrades, Morelanders and Achkaerinias they have stopped a major genocide that has seen around 200,000 people killed. Now we need to build peace and I'm proud that Ui Cenneslaig is leading the way." The King also announced that once fully established he intends to visit the Celtic Protectorate and meet with Prince Rupert face to face. It is unknown how other nations shall react as Ui Cenneslaig has acted outside of international co-operation in the most part, the CTO had organised two resolutions regarding Mercia, one involving ending the genocide and the other about not recognising elections. The King's spokesman said, "We probably will have members of the CTO moaning, but we got a meeting with the man best positioned to sort this and we could do it in a way which means everyone is supported, I think the CTO will get behind this, its not like we've undermined them as they exist to promote global stability and we've now imposed that back on Mercia."  KING OFFERS CARPENTER CELTIC PROTECTORATE JOB In a surprise move King Finley has offered the job of administaring the Celtic Protectorate in Mercia to East Moreland Tim Carpenter. The former CTO Secretary General currently serves as the CTO's Chiar of the Refugee Council and was East Moreland's first Chief Councillor. The move is likely to come as a surprise as it was largely expected that a member of Ui Cenneslaig's armed forces would be given the role, with many suggesting Prince Lennox would be selected. Carpenter was in Mercia when the Genocide began and at one point was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by King Rupert. Should Carpenter accept the role then he would be responsible for the day to day running of the Protectorate and would liase with our nations military in order to ensure stability in the region. King Finley announced his decsion in an early morning press conefrence saying. "Tim Carpeneter would be an execellent choice, he is one of the world's most experienced politicians who is also a member of the Cult of Helus. I think the people of Mercia would feel safer if a man with Carpenter's liberal credentials who is of the minority Cultist faith is in charge. It is now my sincere hope that he will accept." Should Carpenter accept the role he would have to resign his role with the CTO. It is expected that Carpenter will make his decision in the next few days.  SCORDISCI CLASHES ON BORDER There have once again been shots fired over the disputed border between Ui Cenneslaig and Scordisci [1]. Following sightings of Scordiscians for Ulmner (SFU) operatives attempting to cross the border members of the Ui Cenneslaig military came under fire and in an act of self defence returned fire, this provoked members of the Scordisci National Guard to fire upon border positions in the disputed Ulmner region. It is thought that this border raid was a failed attempt to sneak into Ui Cenneslaig and potentially disrupt the trial of SFU leaders Connor O'Logan and Graeme Malky which is expected to conclude in the next few days. The SFU have long claimed Ulmner should have been given to Scordisci despite it having a Celtic majority, there attacks along the border have seen around 200 people killed in the last five years.  KING JOINS CROSS MUNDUS AGENCY King Finley has joined the nations of Protoa and Nya Åland in forming the Cross Mundus Agency, a similar organisation to the CTO however believed to promote more co-operation in a wider variety of fields as well as being more streamlined. The King had travelled to Krokom in Åland for the talks and was the third person to sign following the leadership of Protoa and Nya Åland. The King explained his decision as follows; " The CTO on paper seems a very good organisation, however we have seen first hand its lack of resolve. We saw the situation in Mercia first hand and while two of those nations made an effort to end the genocide the organisation itself did little. Meanwhile we managed to work with East Moreland and Achkaerin, as well as bring the Mercian's to the table and push forward a proposal that so far has held and seen the killings finish. The Cross Munuds Agency I hope will be able to cut out the inactivity between nations and we've already got close links to Protoa through the Western Ardian Forum and hopefully we shall now build them with Nya Åland."  PROTECTORATE SETS OUT AGENDA The Celtic Protectorate has today set out it's first agenda. Under Tim Carpenter the Protectorate will attempt to return to life as normal as soon as possible. To help with this aim Carpenter has ordered that all schools open on Monday once again, each school shall be allocated a military officer to deal with any disturbances. Furthermore in Cuckney and Clipstone centres will be established for people to go and register that they are looking for relatives, people are urged to contact these immediately to find missing relatives. A new police force for the Protectorate will be established within 16 weeks, this will take selected members from the already established police force and vet them. Another organisation that has been established is the Grave Recovery Agency (GRA) which will be responsible for recovering the bodies of those murdered, identifying them and if possible giving them a proper burial. Meanwhile Carpenter will begin a series of meetings with local communities in order to begin a programme of rebuilding the local community following the upheavel. The Protectorate's military under Prince Lennox wll also begin an investigation into the actions of various leading figures during the genocide which has so far been claimed to have cost the lives of around 250,000 people while a further 250,000 are thought to have become refugees.  ARMY ATTACKED IN ULMER Last night the Ui Cenneslaig military once again came under fire in Ulmer, this time however by members of the Scordisci military as well as members of the terrorist ground SFU. The border patrols came under fire during a routine patrol and returned fire at a group of SFU terrorists who had been attempting to cross the border. During the incident a Scordisci border patrol arrived and opened fire on Ui Cenneslaig troops, something that the Scordisci government denies. Their spokesperson said, "This is an unfortunate incident that happened in rough country at night, our forces believed they were involved in a situation with potential terrorists and in the confusion of the on going situation got involved ina firefight with Ui Cenneslaig forces, we now need to work to ensure this kind of situation, which is becoming all too common, is not repeated." King Finley said his sympathies are with the families of the five Scordisci soldiers who died's family however that he would "permit my soldiers to do whatever it takes to defend themselves and their country" One arrest was made when a 30 year old woman was captured having engaged in shooting at Ui Cenneslaig forces.  MISSING 14 YEAR OLD FOUND DEAD IN SCORDISCI Police in the border town of Canot have confirmed that their colleagues in Scordisci have confirmed that they have found the body of missing 14 year old gilr Delores McGreedy. The youngster went missing two days ago after having walked into town to meet friends and never returned. Her parents raised the alarm that evening and an extensive search of the area by hundreds of local voulenteers found no trace of the girl. In the early hours of this morning however her body was found around 1km inside Scordisci by a local farmer. It was confirmed that her body was riddled with gunshot wounds and showed signs of having been beaten before being shot at close range. The prime suspects are likely to be the Scordisci For Ulmer terrorist group that have in the past kidnapped, tortured and murdered several Cennesalig citizens living in the disputed border area. In recent days there have been a significant increase in tensions in the area with both sides increasing their military prescence. It is thought the Cenneslaig ambassador meet members of the Scordisci government in order to protest about their lack of ability in ensuring the SFU is contained and prevented from carrying out such attacks. While returning from his morning walk King Finley commented "This is a tragedy, a young girl murdered because of her nationality, my prayers are with her family and I also pray the Scordisci government find the perpatrators of this horrific act and hand them over to us as soon as possible." There were also protests outside the Scordisci Embassy in the capital where a crowd of around 100 people protested about the Scordisci governments apparent lack of ability to control their citizens and the kidnappings of Cenneslaig citizens, one member of the group, Yvonne O'Lee said, "The Scordisci turn a blind eye to this, their happy to see us Cenneslaigians die. It's about time King Finley stopped warning them and started taking action, its time to take revenge." |

 SCORDISCI EMBASSY WITNESSES PROTEST Following the death of 14 year old Delores McGreedy in Scordisci, probably at the hands of the terrorist group Scordisci For Ulmer (SFU) a large group of Cenneslaigians gathered outside the Scordisci embassy in Cliath and began demanding that the Scordisci government do more to ensure the SFU don't cross the border. The protestors attempted to hand over a petition calling upon the Scordisci Military to do more to combat the SFU, however the representatives of the crowd were refused a meeting with embassy staff. It was following this refusal however that things turned violent with the crowd bombaring embassy guards with stones and bottles. This prompted the local security forces to respond who attempted to form a protective cordon around the embassy. While the crowd avoided showing violence to the security forces there were several arrests including a 70 year old man who was caught carrying a large knife. Meanwhile several people used paintball guns to fire at the embassy prompting Security Forces to enforce a safe zone by closing down the street on which several national embassies are located. Taoiseach Cadoc MacKenzie commented on the situation stating, "Clearly people will be angry when they see a nation either unable or unwilling to stop children being kidnapped, tortured and murdered, I am surprised that it has taken this long for tensions to boil over." It was also reported that small numbers of Cenneslaigians around the world carried out similar protests outside embassies in other countries including Nya Åland, East Moreland, Mercia and Lodja.  PRINCESS CAIT TO ATTEND FASHION WEEK IN ELPIDIA The King's sister, Princess Cait is to attend her first foreign visit since giving birth to a son six months ago. The Princess is married to the CrownPrince of Cantabria and is thought to have left baby Fitzgerald in the care of his uncle King Finley. The Princess is considered a style icon in Ui Cenneslaig and when she turned 18 had local fashion designer Moira Henderson design a whole range in her honour. The visit is being described as "a married couple enjoying a few days away to recharge their batteries." Meanwhile King Finley was seen taking Prince Fitzgerald for a walk in the Palace grounds later in the day and upon leaving the Palace for a fucntion stated, "I'm going to enjoy being Uncle Finley for a few days, Cait may have to wrestle him back though when she returns" |

 FIVE KERNS ARRESTED IN SCORDISCI Five members of the elite Ui Cenneslaig Royal Kerns Commando Regiment have been arrested around 2km inside the border with Scordisci. The five man patrol are currently being held on a range of charges ranging from murder to illegally entering Scordisci. The arrests come following the announcement that a mini bus full of Cennesligan children was kidnapped and then set fire resulting in the death of 16 teenagers and three coaches. This is now the second incident in a week where young people have been targetted by the SFU. The five men are alleged to have crossed the border in pursuit of the hijacked minibus and ignored calls for them to not cross the border. Several units of Ui Cenneslaig military were pursuing the minibus and requested permission to cross the border in an attempt to effect a rescue. The Ministry of Defence even went so far as to release the radio calls between Ui Cenneslaig and Scordisci forces. It is thought the five man team ignored the Scordisci order to stay there side of the border once it was reported Scordisci forces were around five minutes from the scene. The Commando's were found having engaged a member of the SFU in a firefight. It is reported they surrended instantly. King Finley has also confirmed the men have been arrested stating. "I am extremely proud of those five men. They knew they would face potentially severe consequences from either their own commanders or the Scordisci government for crossing that border yet they did so in an attempt to save 19 lives. The Scordisci government need to pat these men on the back for doing what they have failed to do and strike against the SFU. I fully expect these men returned, unharmed within the next 24 hours." |

 SCORDISCI EMBASSY SET ON FIRE Claith witnessed scenes of violence last night as thousands of angry Cenneslaigians converged on the embassy following the death of a group of schoolboys kidnapped by the Scordisci For Ulmer terrorist organisation. The situation provoked additional anger because Scordisci forces stopped members of the UC Army crossing the border to intervene and potentially save the childrens lives, this did not stop five members of the Royal Kern Commando's doing that and they are now arrested. Around 2,500 people began protesting outside the Scordisci Embassy at 8pm last night calling for the release of the five Commando's and action to be taken by Scordisci to stop the recent spate of kidnapping of young people. Soon bricks and stones were thrown at the embassy which had seen several windows smashed the day before. This time however the local Security Forces struggled to close the street and instead formed a cordon around the building. By 10pm however the crowd had grown much larger, to an estimated 8,000 people, outnumbered and with the crowd now throwing petrol bombs a decision was made to evacuate the embassy. It took a further hour for the Scordisci staff to secure diplomatic papers before a Ui Cennesliag APC took them away from the scene. Loud cheers filled the air as the Scordisci left and soon the crowd began singing national folk songs. By midnight the crowd had swelled to over 12,000 people who managed to push through the cordon and soon after smoke was seen coming from the buidling. Fire Brigade responded soon after and the police made 72 arrests. One protestor who didn't wish to be named said, "What you are witnessing is several years of frustration boil over, we have tried living side by side with Scordisci however clearly they have different ideas, for the sake of our children its time to take action."  18,000 TROOPS HEAD TO ULMER Following the recent kidnaps of young people in the Ui Cenneslaig territory of Ulmer, which borders Scordisci, King Finley has ordered 18,000 more troops to the region. The area has seen hundreds of military trains heading through the area leading many to conclude that a more robust anti SFU policy will take place. Prince Lennox commented upon the build up saying. "I hope that my brother takes the reigns off, we should pursue the SFU wherever they go, they don't respect borders and neither shall we. I'd be more than happy to take all 18,000 of these lads and lasses over the border if it saved just one young Cennesaligain's life." |

 SCORDISCI NEWS NETWORK 72,000 MADE HOMELESS BY UC AGGRESSION Last night forces from the Kingdom of Ui Cenneslaig launced a series of strikes against settlements along the border with our nation. Government officials at the Ministry of Defence recieved a warning that the attacks would begin 30 minutes before the first of them took place while residents in built up areas recieved an automated phone call an hour before the attacks took place. The attacks came after a series of incidents in which members of the terrorist organisation Scordisci For Ulmer have crossed the border and attacked Cenneslaig settlements. The UC military have now declared a 5km "Buffer Zone" along the border, however this is according to Vice President Giles Mahon "highly illegal. This is nothing other than an invasion. We have attempted to stop the SFU from attacking our neighbours but they have a highly sophisticated network. Now we have seen what many believe is terrorism from the government of Ui Cenneslaig, its only a miracle more people haven't died." As emergency services made their way to the region more shells and rockets fell, many in residential areas. In the town of Mableton around 24 people died after they had ignored the warning, considering it a hoax. In total 97 people have been killed while a further 122 are injured. In total around 72,000 people have been made homeless. |

 PRINCESS BECOMES QUEEN OF MUNDUSES NEWEST NATION Following forces of Ui Cenneslaig securing the 5km strip of land forming the border region between our nation and Scordisci King Finley has seen fit to put in place actions designed to ensure the future stability of the region. In the 1920's Scordisci seperated from Ui Cennesliag following decades of religious tensions between the mainly Celtic Christian Cenneslaigians and the Roman Catholic Scordsici, this saw the volatile border region have a roughly equal split and Ulmer became part of Ui Cennesliag, leading to much tension between Ulmer's small majority of Celtic Christians and their Catholic neighbours. In recent days this has spilt over into the terrorist organisation Scordsici for Ulmer murdering several children. This has prompted King Finley to authorise an action to bring the whole border region under Cenneslaigian control. This was achieved swiftly due to a surprise cross border raid and significant difference in numbers. Yesterday King Finley announced that this region would be removed from the Scordisci government as they are unable to "provide security and stability". However the King went on to explain the situation, "Clearly there are many differences between the Scordisci and the Cenneslaig people, we realise living under on nation is never going to be successful but the people of Scordisci deserve a government that can provide them with a safe environment to live and thrive, their Republic has failed, as such we have today routed out the strongholds of the SFU and imposed military rule on the area until we can begin work helping them in the long term. As such it would be unwise for me to lead this effort as a devout Celtic Christian I feel my rule would cause friction." The King created a new nation, The Kingdom of Scordisci and appointed his aethiest sister Princess Una as it's first monarch. He stated, "Everyone knows my sister turned her back on all faiths several years ago following the death of her husband. As such while I don't share her spiritual views I know she will be an ideal leader for a region with tense religious issues.  FINAL ASSAULT ON CARDS? With the sight of three Gaiotha Class Amphibious Assault Ships seen leaving Calith harbour rumours have started that a final assault on the Scordisci capital could soon be underway. The Scordisci capital lies just 50km away from the front lines of the current incursion and with it sitting close to the coast at the mouth of the River Scord an amphibious assault would be a possibility. The three ships would be capable and landing around 2,700 troops and 39 tanks on the flank of the city while Ui Cenneslaig Army forces approach from the inland route. The Ministry of Defence have declined to comment on the destination for "operational reasons." The move also comes after Rokkenjiman Broadcasting Corporation reported that Lord High Steward Koizumi had recently made a speech about the ongoing conflict while Rokkenjiman and Achkaerin Naval vessels have been spotted in the area.  PRINCESS CAIT TARGET OF SCORDISCI ASSASSINATION Earlier today a gunman, who turned out to be a member of the Security team at the Scordisci Embassy in Cantabria, shot and killed King Dwyn of Cantabria and injured Princess Cait. As the Cantabria Royal Family left the capitals cathedral following Sunday Service two shots rang out, the first hitting King Dwyn in the chest and killing him, the second hitting Princess Cait in the shoulder breaking her arm and throwing her to the ground, causing her to receive concussion. The gunman was shot while fleeing the scene and positively identified as Simon Donnelly, a 33 year old former Scordisci Army Sniper who now works for the Scordisci Diplomatic Service. Upon searching his flat in Capel Celyn police discovered materail linking him to the Scordisci For Ulmer group, a group that have carried out terrorist attacks against Cenneslaig over the last twenty years. King Finley has spoken of his fury following the attack. "This shows that the SFU are everywhere, they have infilitrated every aspect of Scordisci government and as such they can not be trusted, who knows how far up this support for the SFU goes. Now they have murdered the King of Cantabria, my friend and neighbour. They have attempted to murder my sister in cold blood using a diplomatic member of staff to do so. This is a scandal that we will respond to. I would urge nations world wide to take care with the Scordisci Embassies and consider vetting their staff carefully, who knows who they will try killing next, children, women, Kings.....their shame holds no bounds." With the death of King Dwyn the crown now passes to Prince Cóemgein who has now mobilised the Cantabria military to support those operations currently being carried out by Ui Cennesliag. This also means that the King's sister is now Queen of Cantabria. News of any coronation have not been announced, nor have any news of King Dwyn's funeral. King Finley said. "Dwyn was not just a King of another nation, he was family and as such I am deeply sad to hear of his death. LEASE AGREEMENT WITH PROTOA REACHED Following recent announcements in the Protoa press the government have reached an agreement to lease them some decommissioned Royal Navy ships. King Finley made the announcement saying, "Protoa have proved to be good neighbours and friends and have identified that they have a need for a larger Navy, however we all know this takes time. On the other hand as part of our long term Naval rebuilding we have several ships that have been decommissioned that we currently have mothballed, this is costing us money in terms of their maintainance, security and storage. We had considered simply selling them for scrap, however this opportunity to help a neighbour came up. We have made an offer and it has been accepted. For a nominal lease fee, around $0.50 per ship per year, we will lease HMS Daire Drechletchan, HMS Bandua and HMS Matres, as well as the submarine HMS Setna Airt to Protoa. This will saves us several million in fees and maintenance while we either found buyers or scrapped them. This way we cement our relation with a WAF partner, helping them secure their waters, as well as removing the financial burden." As part of the agreement Protoa will take over responsibility for maintenance and repairs. It is expected that Protoa will announce which lease options they will take up, if any, in the coming days. |

 CONFLICT IN SCORDISCI OVER It was today announced that after successfully subduing the capital of Scordisci the Republic of Scordisci have surrendered to the Cenneslaigain military. The swift military campaign saw the Scordisci Air Force all but destroyed in the first hours and then a swift advance towards Scordisci City, which was only halted to allow humanitarian aide into the city and give civilians a chance to retreat to safety. The Scordisci President O'Rourke died during the fighting and as such it was left to a Scordisci Colonel to order the nation to stand down. The fighting also saw the Scordisci military breach the Uppsala Convention by using Chemical Weapons which has resulted in around 650 Cenneslaigian soldiers dying, around a further 1,500 are still in critical condition. The Royal Kerns Commando Unit are rumoured to have also discovered several factories producing the chemical Hydrogen Cyanide. This same gas was used in Mercia against followers of the Cult of Helus. The military will begin withdrawing to ceasefire positions in the coming days and several conditions need to meet before a full return to peacetime borders takes place. King Finley spoke following the announcement saying. "I am sorry that it came to this, now our nation has successfully dismantled the leadership of the SFU terrorist group and locked up the majority of its network. We will now work with our colleagues in WAF and with the Kingdom of East Moreland to make a post-war Scordisci more stable than it has ever been. I am proud of the work our men and women have done, they faced the ultimate intimidation in the use of chemical weapons and despite this provication remained professional and dedciated to their mission. We have a military we can be proud of." It is expected that the first soldiers shall return home within 48 hours. |

 PRESCENCE IN CELTIC PROTECTORATE TO INCREASE Following the discovery of missing Scordisci chemical weapons, and the same weapon being used by terrorists in Mercia, King Finley has agreed with High King Rupert to increase the size of the Ui Cenneslaig presence there. A new agreement means a maximum total of 18,000 troops may be stationed there, an increase of 10,000. As well a fleet consisting of 5 Destroyers, 4 Frigates, an aircraft carrier and two submarines being permanently assigned to the Sea of Kyne. This is in addition to several ships being assigned for temporary periods. Additionally the air force is to assign greater number of air assets in the coming days. The move was announced by King Finley who said. "The situation there is volatile, we would expect our forces to be the first to respond to any situation as the Protectorate is our responsibility, this increase in forces allows us to protect the region and turn it into a safe haven should violence break out. Meanwhile it makes us robust enough to stop smuggling of dangerous chemical weapons which has clearly taken place. The fact that two chemical weapons have already been sneaked in from Scordisci shows we may be too late but we shall do what we can to ensure this is not repeated." The ending of the conflict with Scordisci will also see some assets freed up as they begin to move home. King Finley has already announced the intention to welcome the Gallowglass and Highlander Regiments home with a parade through the capital. In other news it is expected that the King's youngest sister, Princess Cait, will be crowned Queen of Cantabria in the coming days following the Scordisci sponsored assassination of King Dwyn. |

 CHEMICAL WEAPON REPORT DUE With the end of the recent conflict with Scordisci a team of East Moreland military have established a prescence in a newly created buffer zone between our nation and Scordisci. As part of this they have been undertaking investigations into the use of chemical weapons used by Scordisci against Cennesliagian troops, in a breach of the Uppsala Convention. Several hundred Cennesliagan soldiers died in these attacks which Prince Lennox, a member of the Royal Kerns Commando Unit, who was present during the attacks, described as "cowardly" speaking before the homecoming parade, during which he marched, he said. "The fighting in such circumstances is always going to be tough, close range contacts, small streets, they all make life difficult enough, but add to that having to do it all in gas masks and chemical suits then its a nightmare. We saw several men die horrifically from these agents and those responsible need to be punished." The report is likely to answer whether these weapons were used in accordance with Presidential orders or on the initiative of individual soldiers. The report is to be made public and could well result in war crimes trials if it goes the way Prince Lennox believes. "I find it hard to believe charges won't be brought, every soldier knows the Uppsala Convention and even if ordered to use chemical weapons it is their duty to say no. If no one goes before the Uppsala Courts then the system is a joke." It is expected that the Ui Cenneslaig and Scordisci governments will get advanced copies of the report prior to it being publically released.  TRI NATIONS SPORTS QUADATHLON ANNOUNCED (TNSQ) An agreement has been reached between East Moreland, Ui Cenneslaig and Kiryat Gat to have an annual sporting competition. The tournament will feature Men & Womens Rugby and Men and Women's Football . The tournament will take place on a rotational basis featuring a round robin format with the top two in each sport playing off to be champions. There will also be a TNSQ champion with 1st place in a sport earning 5 points, 2nd place three points and 3rd place one point. The first tournament will take place in Ui Cennesliag in early 2017. Minister for Sport and Culture, Delores O'Connor said, "This will be a great tournament, it will promote sport across our nation and allow some of our great sporting heroes to compete against others on a more regular basis. Our rugby team get to chance their arm against a team considered the best in the world by many and our footballers get to play against a nation so passionate about football they are hosting the world cup." It is expected the tournament will see an increase in these sports participations as at present Gaelic Football, Curling and Shinty are the most popular sports in Ui Cenneslaig, however these lack any international matches.  BORDER AT BREAKING POINT The official border crossing with Scordisci is at breaking point according to a member of the Ministry of Defence. Over the last few days around 2,500 Scordsici citizens have arrived at the border showing signs of Jacobson Virus, the number has overwhelmed East Moreland forces policing the DMZ between Ui Cennesliag and Scordisci, meaning UC forces have had to step in. To date 1,876 have died some having been neutralised by the military while in the final stages of the illness and attacking the medical staff. Members of the nations Royal Medical Corps have established a makeshift field hospital where those arriving at the border are kept under close supervision, including being plasti-cuffed. The local security forces have also estimated that around 2,000 more Scordisci have crossed the border illegally and are presently being searched for by members of the Air Force. People living close to the border are being warned that they should stear clear of strangers and report suspicious travellors to local authorities. Independent media have also discovered that some Scordisci have been given financial assistance to reach the border by the government of Scordisci leading many to believe they are essentially trying to turn the infected into a weapon.  PRINCE LENNOX TO VISIT LODJA Prince Lennox, the King's younger brother, is scheduled to visit the Queendom of Lodja. It is thought that the two nations are considering an exchange of fishing rights amonsgt other issues. The two nations have an extensive fishing industry with both nations having vastly different species which may be of interest. Furthermore it is thought Ui Cenneslaig is likely to be looking at supporting the gas drilling industry in the nation which has experienced some difficulties in the past.  AIR FORCE DESTROY STRATEGIC SCORDISCI BRIDGES Following several days of warnings for those infected with Jacobsen Virus in Scordisci to stop their attempts to cross the border the King last night ordered the unprecidented action of destroying five crucial bridges that lead over the River Shennen, 10km inside Scordisci. The bridges are amongst the only ways of crossing from Scordisci into Ui Cennesliag and the destruction of them is likely to slow or halt the advance of the infected. The only route open now to those wishing to reach the border is via the city of Manes. A Minister of Defence spokesman said, "The bridges were purposely hit when we knew they were empty, it is our hope that by diverting everyone towards Manes the government of Scordisci will take responsibility for their infected. Our forces are at breaking point trying to treat the infected arriving and our own people, we can not and will not allow these infected to become a biological weapon in our nation." It is understood that the East Moreland military policing the DMZ were informed only once the operation began and have made no comment on the operation so far. King Finley has however said, "The peace agreement stands for now, however the Scordisci must start controlling their people, we're struggling to deal with their ill and they are pushing them our way, this is not acceptable."  PROTECTORATE MILITARY ON HIGH ALERT Following the kidnap of Queen Mary in Mercia, along with newborn son Prince Oliver, the Celtic Protectorate in the south of Mercia has gone to full alert. General Sheamus Riordan, the officer commanding UC forces, said "If the Borlanders believe they are doing this to help the Cultists they are mislead, King Rupert has done a great deal to try and unite the people of Mercia again, the union between Rupert and Mary is a key part of that. It is vital the Christians in Mercia remain calm, if they are to be found in Mercia we'll find them. I just hope calm head prevail." It is thought most likely that the Borlanders will head towards Tibshelf, a large city within the Protectorate where Riordan beleives that it will be easier to hide.  FORCES RETURN TO SCORDISCI The Ui Cennesliag military last night crossed through the East Moreland demilitarised zone in order to restore order to Scordisci following the outbreak of the Jacobson Virus there. The East Moreland forces manning the border have been inundated with infected and have been placed in awkward positions forcing them to handcuff, restrain and in some cases open fire on people suffering from the illness which seemingly sends people insanely violent in the final stages. The Scordisci government have failed to respond to the crisis and have remained silent for several days, leading many to believe that they have either fled or been infected themselves. It was also discovered that they had been paying their own citizens to cross into Ui Cenneslaig and seek aid. There was an apparent late night exchange of phone calls between the East Moreland monarch and King Finley prior to UC forces making the crossing. A royal spokesman confirmed, "King David agreed to have East Moreland forces allow our forces to enter Scordisci on several conditions including that they will remain in the area marked as a DMZ and will allocate observers to follow the UC advance, which so far has received no opposition. Our reporter with the forces explained, "As we reached town they'd clearly not seen medical help for some time, there were dead bodies in the streets and people wearing makeshift masks emerging from homes. As Medics attempted to treat them a few people had to be sedated but otherwise there were no issues. In places were people fled from the UC several months ago now people begged for help." As well as allowing East Moreland observers it was also confirmed that in two years time a referendum must take place about the future of Scordisci and that this will be monitored by the Morelanders who will also be permitted to maintain a military prescence until the results of the referendum are complied with.It is expected that a formal application to JET for aid will also be posted in a few days time. King Finley briefly spoke saying, "We saw fellow Celts in need and despite our differences we couldn't sit and do nothing. Scordisci will become a protectorate until their future is determined by their people."  PRINCE SEALS DEAL WITH LODJA King Finley's brother, Prince Lennox, has recently signed an agreement with Lodja which will see the two nations begin closer ties. As part of the deal, the first negotiated by Lennox, the Kingdom has agreed to sell Lodja some ships that are due to be de-commissioned in the coming months, along with this the UC Navy will help the Lodjain's train with the new vessels both before and after the sale. In return for selling the ships at a lower price it is thought Cennesliagian oil and gas companies will be given preferential treatment in bidding for contracts in the expanding Lodjain energy markets. The Prince had most recently served in the campaign against Scordisci with his Royal Kern Commando Unit and King Finley described his brothers visit as "a welcome break for a loyal soldier who can now chance his arm at some diplomacy." |

The King appeared on UC Today, an early morning news chat show and spoke at length saying. "Scordisci is now virus free, we've had no new reported cases for over a week, both our own medics and those of East Moreland are happy that this is the case, as such we're going to relax travel, now clearly what we want to avoid is a stampede so for the next three weeks travel across the former border will be one way unless you first acquire permission from the military. There are still a few issues in Scordisci that need ironing out and this will help us. It won't be hard to get permission but there will be measures in place. I am aware that having lost close to 20% of its population Scordisci is going to face some challenges, which is why I'm going to have our government identify those homes which are unoccupied and begin tracking down their legal owners. If this can't be done within six months I'm going to have our nation take control of the property and we'll gift it to someone living in Ui Cenneslaig, should then the owner turn up they will be financially compenstated" The King furthermore spoke of the issues of de-population experienced by the Kingdom an Scordisci. "We've experienced an influx of non-Celtic citizens since recent conflicts and disasters, add to that this virus and we're beginning to see our nation turning a dangerous corner, 10 years ago 90% of Cenneslaigians belonged to an ancient clan, today we see that has dropped t o 80%. I intend to offer incentives to people to marry and raise children within a clan. If a couple from within the same clan marry they shall be entitled to a $2,000 loan repayable within five years, interest free. If they have a child they shall receive $500 of that as a gift and an extra year added to the loan repayment. If someone therefore has four children the loan becomes a gift. If they marry inside a different clan then that amount shall be reduced to $1,000. By doing this I hope clan ties will be seen as important once more." The King also explained how he will integrate the 20% of clan unaffiliated, "It is vital people coming here adopt Celtic ways and traditions, as such joining a clan can be difficult, I will today create the Scotia Clan, a new one which any no-affiliated citizen can join, to do so they must have lived in our nation two years, can speak Gaelic and can pass a test on our traditions. We also need to incentivise this process and so from today no one may apply for citizenship unless affiliated to a clan. We have made the process of gaining citizenship harder in one sense but also easier by making it simple to affiliate to a clan." The King was also asked about the nations international affairs. "We are proud to see that we're forming close links with other nations. My brother has secured trade deals for us with Lodja, we're soon forming sporting connections when we win the Quad Nations, and we've worked closely with East Moreland regarding the Mercian and Scordisci situations. My focus now however will be on Ardia, we've become a dark continent in one sense following the Jacobsen Virus.  ARCHBISHOP CONGRATULATES NEW POPE AND WELCOMES REFORM The leader of the Celtic Christian Church, Archbishop of Baile Átha Cliath, Kilian Buchanan has today sent his congratulations to Pope Homobonus of the Universal Church. During a weekly interview for Radio UC the Archbishop said. "Clearly our brothers in the Universal Church have taken somewhat of a gamble choosing such a young man, however I trust that they have thought long and hard on his qualities and determined him to be the best candidate avaliable, I understand many of the pressures he will be under and wish him the best. While our two churches may not see eye to eye on many matters we are, at the end of the day, all working towards God's will." It is the first time that the head of the Celtic Church has publically congratulated the ascension of a new pope, however it is believed to have happened many times in private. The Celtic Church split from the Universal Church in 1536 following what were perceived as restrictions put on the clergy in their efforts to convert the Celtic Pagans. Today Ui Cenneslaig is still 65% Celtic Pagan while Celtic Christianity accounts for 30% of the nation. The Archbishop went on the talk about the new Pope's first speech saying, "It is refreshing to hear of them considering softening their stance on many issues, we ourselves withdraw our opposition to same sex marriage some ten years ago and today leave it to the conscience of each priest as to whether they will perform marriage ceremonies. We are still staunchly anti-abortion, all life is sacred and as such we operate an adaoption service to try and ensure no life is wasted and support those going through a difficult time. I believe that the Universal Church softening it's view could do much to help improve the impression of Christians globally. In recent years our faith has been to inactive, take for example the great tragedy in the Union of Nordic People, it was Cultist and Beastali faith nations of East Moreland and Achkaerin that took the burden of saving people on their shoulders, sadly apart from a small donation from our church there was no Christian response. Again when the refugee crisis took shape in Mavrosia we took a handful of people into our nation but it was non-Christian nations that responded. I myself am fortunate that King Finley despite being a pagan supports the work of our Church and when we, alongside our pagan friends called for us to take a stance on the Mercian genocide, one I would point out carried out by a Christian monarch, our nation stepped up. I think the new Pope, who has influence in many Christian majority nations, should be looking at making this kind of work his priority. I would support our church supporting efforts he made." It is unlikely that the two churches will ever reunite, however the Archbishops speech does indicate a new willingness to work side by side. |

 FIRST SCORDISCI SETTLEMENT NEARS COMPLETION Following the addition of Scordisci to the Kingdom of Ui Cenneslaig the first new settlement has been completed, the Moon Estate is made up of prefabricated units and many of the 700 residents are still living in caravans, however the settlement has been declared open for more residents. With land being free if the owner has not claimed it since the Jacobson Virus thousands of Cenneslagian's looking for a cheap way of getting on the housing ladder have moved out to estates similar to this. It is expected that in the area around Scordisci City and the old borderlands a total of 120,000 people will be establishing homes in the next few months. In addition about 30,000 former Scordisci citizens have moved to Ui Cenneslaig as part of a move which is seeing the former Scordisci territory becoming devoid in areas of "natives", one former Scordisci politician, Edward McMinn has said, "This seems to be a move by the Cenneslaig government to destabalise the area with an influx of their own citizens while not investing in the repair of homes belonging to ethnic Scordisci, I suspect this is an attempt to influence any future referendum into the long term future of Scordisci. We must now put pressure on King Finley to play fair and support the Scordisci to stay in Scordisci." There will be a referendum on the future of Scordisci in five years time at which point three pppotions will be on the table to become independent, to become a part of Ui Cenneslaig or to remain semi autonomous. TWO CARRIERS RETIRE As the two new aircraft carriers UCV Art and UCV Lugaid have passed sea trials the ships they are replacing today entered the Royal Naval Dockyards at Dundalk for the final time. UCV Fiechru arrived at 9am this morning and was officially retired when Prince Lennox welcomed Captain McPherson ashore and presented him with the ships compass as a momento. The Prince spoke for a moment at the dockside saying, "Fiechru has had fifty years of service in our military and the old girl is deserving of some rest, two of her sister ships will go on in service while Fiechru becomes a museum here in Dundalk." Three hours later UCV Daire Drechletchan entered dock and underwent a similar ceremony however this vessel will not be left to retire and will instead be scrapped at a dockyard in Aberdale. Several other ships are due to retire in the next two months with an amphibious warfare vessel and three frigates being sold to Lodja as part of a deal made by Prince Lennox. |

 FOUR HOSPITALISED AFTER KING OF CANTABRIA TARGETED BY TERRORISTS King Cóemgein of neighbouring Cantabria was yesterday targetted by terrorists during a visit to a local sports event. The 32 year old became King six months ago following the assassination of his father King Dwyn by a SFU Terror attack. The King was leaving the opening of the Cantabria Junior Sports Academy where a Gaelic Football Tournament was taking place to mark the event. As he waved to the crowd a masked man threw what appeared to be an improvised grenade before screaming "Long Live the Republic" , the crowd scattered and thankfully the device seemed not to detonate fully. The device harmed four people, two of them members of the King's security detail as well as a six year old boy who had been playing in the tournament. The King was slightly injured as he banged his head as he was bundled into his car, the King was kept in hospital over night as a precaution. The King was visited by his wife Queen Cait later that evening and she spoke briefly to the press saying, "The nation has never had an issue with terrorism and I don't understand why, when our nation is calm, stable and the people have the right to pick their representatives that people are calling for Republicanism. Our families power is limited by the constitution to merely veto of what the Parliament propose, a veto that neither my husband, nor his late father have ever used. I believe this action was that of a deranged coward." The King of Ui Cenneslaig, King Finley, sent his own message of support saying, "Cóemgein is a great King, he loves his people and supports them well. His people need to send a clear message that this act is not going to be tolerated. We shall do all we can to support our Celtic brothers in the investigation that will no doubt come." The Cantabria Police have yet to make any arrests and have said, "This is, we hope, an isolated incident, there has been no evidence of a terrorist threat in our nation and we will become vigilant to make sure things stay that way."  UI CENNESLIAG TO LAUNCH LANDER TO NERGAL The Ui Cenneslaig Science Academy have today announced that after working with experts from EMAC and East Moreland's Royal Aeronautical Society they intend to launch a lander to Nergal[1] The Spásárthach Lander was demonstrated to the media at the Leinster Military Base where a hanger has been turned into a testing facility. The lander has utilised technology and data from various East Moreland missions and appeared to perform well. King Finely was present for the test and declared himself "Proud to see our nation pushing to explore our world and beyond. It is my hope this team put together everything they need quickly and we see a Celtic space mission benefiting mankind soon." The launch is expected to come in the next few months following further tests at Leinster. King Finley went on to say, "This test is the culimination of several months of talks and discussions with friends in East Moreland, if we can get a Lander built like this alone, just imagine what a joint East Moreland, Cennesliag mission could bring. The CNN will make things easier in this regard and this is why I desperately want the Moreland people to back their referendum and join us. If we can do this then not just the world, but the galaxy is our oyster."  PRINCE LENNOX TO BE ENVOY TO ALBION In a new measure of foreign policy King Finley has announced that he intends to establish a system of Envoy's. These will be responsible for overseeing ambassadors based in the nations of a set continent, the King started the day announcing that they would be "Cennesliagian Political Titans" before hours later announcing that the first appointment would be his younger brother Lennox who would be taking on the role for Albion. King Finley explained, "Soon we're going to have tight ties with two Albion nations, Lodja and Helvetica, I need someone there who I can steadfastly rely on, someone who is a hard worker with political experience. Lennox knows Lodja well now and is the perfect choice." It is expected that Prince Lennox, who turns 40 in a few days, is likely to start winding down his military duties after 20 years in the nations military. He will also be based in the city of Gaia in Lodja, a city he has visited several times and there are even talks he will stay within the Palace of the Goddess. Lennox has not confirmed whether his wife and children will be moving with him. |

 UC TO BUILD SOUTHERN SKY OBSERVATORY AND EXTREMELY LARGE TELESCOPE7 It was today a busy round of announcements from The Ui Cenneslaig Science Academy, first they announced that Princess Una was to become their Honorary President before announcing that they had secured funding to build the Southern Sky Observatory. This will be a network of four large telescopes using a variety of different techniques ranging from radio telescopes to ones using gravitational lenses. Then hours later it was announced that the centre piece of this project will by, the highly unoriginal named, Extremely Large Telescope (ELT), thought to be the worlds largest telescope ever built. The ELT will feature a 39.3 m diameter, much bigger than the previously UNP based Very Large Telescope (VLT) which featured a group of 8 meter diameter telescopes. The ELT is likely to help revolutionise the observation of our solar system. At the announcement Princess Una said, "I am delighted we've been able to secure the funding for this project. We will have a tool here that will collect 13 times more light than any other telescope on Mundus meaning we get a much better look at the universe around us. The new telescope will be able to cut through atmospheric distortions at an unprecedented level to capture images that are 16 times sharper than any orbital telescope. We're going to get pictures back that are going to shock the world with their beauty." It is expected that construction will take a year and when operational the site will be home to partners from the CNN and other nations, Princess Una stated, "The Morelanders have been very helpful with their support for our Nergal lander project while the Nords give access to their Large Haydron Collider, it is our way of thanking these two nations for their support in letting their scientists come and work with us." |

King Finley was leaving the unveiling of a new oil tanker set to run routes between Lodja, where three Ui Cenneslaig run rigs are operating, and Claith. "We see in this mess Tokulel, a land locked nation, with few international friends who stand with most to lose. My understanding is they will potentially lose their access to the world, we'll not permit that to happen. Personally I feel the whole situation is unjust, Kaitaine may be a little out there but they have posed no threat to the international community, much more must be learned about this Bene Gesserit faith before we support them by harming Kaitaine, for all we know it may be McPherson's stance against them that is stopping other nations being targeted. We will as a result be offering to switch some of our oil purchasing from current suppliers to Tokulel, we'd also like to discuss ways we can help their oil and gas industry if we can. We will therefore be looking to work with Kaitaine to access Tokulel's markets. The Kaitainites are Celtic bretherin and as such we will seek out the best possible arrangement for them." LUGAID ON THE MOVE AMONG MEASURES OVER KAITAINE The aircraft carried UCV Lugaid, and an escort of two destroyers, a frigate and a submarine are to make their way into the Great North Ocean to sit off the coast of Aranye. The announcement comes after King Finley informed CNN allies of his stance on the recent Kaitaine issue. The King has informed East Morleand, The Iwi and Lodja of several steps they will take to try and restore calm to the world order. These are outlined below.
The Lugaid aircraft carrier, complete with it's updated Hornets will leave the North West Ardia area and head to a position around 300km East of Aranye coast. It's commander Admiral O'Rourke said, "This mission is simple, we go and sit, and patrol. We'll be monitoring shipping to make sure the FSC is upheld by all nations, as is our responsibility any time we operate." In addition to this the King has announced that his younger sister, Princess Una, will be sent to Kaitaine, if they agree as a special envoy for Aranye. This is a similar position as to that assumed by Prince Lennox for Albion. King Finley explained. "This is no grand move. We wish to maintain good relationships with all nations, as such we want high level diplomats to oversee each continent, we've already appointed one to Albion, now we're appointing one to Aranye, an Alba Karinya one will be named in coming days. The fact we are basing my sister in Kaitiane for the time being is a reflection on the need for the world to stop viewing them as outsiders, and the fact that we share a Celtic heritage and language. I think we are best placed to help ease this situation." It is expected that Princess Una will depart at the weekend. |

 PROTECTORATE TO END, BASE TO STAY Following talks between Ui Cenneslaig diplomats and the new Queens of Mercia it has been determined that the Celtic Protectorate will end by the end of the year. The gradual withdrawal of close to 20,000 troops will begin in the coming weeks with just 1,500 remaining, mainly for training purposes by the end of the year. The Celtic Protectorate currently makes up 1/6th of the territory of Mercia and was established as a safe haven for Cult of Helus followers should ethnic and religious tensions increase once more. It was hoped this peacekeeping effort would thwart any future genocide and any repriasals by Cultists, neither of which have been permitted to happen. The talks with the Queens were lead by Princess Una who represented her brother, the conclusion of which saw an agreement of a former Mercian naval base, which will now be known as Celtic Harbour, becoming sovereign Ui Cenneslaig territory. The base will enable around three ships to take harbour at any one time. In addition it was announced one squadron of aircraft and 1,500 troops will be permitted to be based there. Colonel Peter O'Rourke, commander of the garrison said . "This base is not something to be seen as expanding our territory, we are in fact giving up territory after completing our mission here. We are maintaining this base to allow us to continue our commitments to help ensure stability in a region that has seen volatility and little action from natives to stop it. I hope our forces don't have to be committed towards military action and can instead become part of a local community we wish to work in partnership with. It is my hope UC soldiers will soon see fit to bring families here with them and we can see Mercian and Cenneslaig children sharing the local schools." As though to confirm this attempt at a local partnership Colonel O'Rouke also announced that the base will be entering a rugby team into Mercian league system, will establish a local Gaelic Football league and provide use of its sporting facilities to local community groups. "Sport is a big part of the Celtic way of life, we hope to use this as a way of building foundations with our neighbours." The move was welcomed by the locals, many of whom are Cultists, with one saying. "Over the last 12 months we've been safe under their protection. They've conducted themselves well and we're sorry to see so many leave. We are sure though their continued prescence in our community will be welcome."  INTRODUCING THE "COMBAT KILT" The Army today showcased their latest addition, and while many expected some new weapons prototype they were treated to a throw back to older times. Starting from next month soldiers will be permitted to wear a camoflague patterned kilt when on deployment. The move comes following requests from many soldiers in the Celtic Protectorate for them to be permitted to undertake light patrols in traditional leg wear, a move that was denied because of the need to perhaps to respond to quickly developing situations. The new "Combat Kilt" however is a compromise, soldiers will, should their commander permit, wear the kilt in place of camoflague trousers while undertaking operations deemed to be low risk. One of the soldiers who requested permission to wear tartan while in Mercia was Sgt.Archibald of the Highland Light Rifles. "When on patrol in peacekeeping duties its nice to have something to start a conversation with people, our culture is great for that. What better way of showing your patriotism and having a chat with locals than the kilt. It always seems to be something they find fascinating." The Sergeant approved of the "Combat Kilt" and said he would be wearing one for "all but the coldest of postings" MORELANDERS AGREE REFERENDUM DATE Following the end of the Jacobsen virus outbreak the Armed Forces have occupied the nation of Scordisci with support from East Moreland, this came about as all law and order in the nation had broken down and a new government was needed to ensure a swift response to the crisis. As such an agreement was reached that Scordisci would become a Protectorate of Ui Cenneslaig with Morelander observers present. In that time the nation has been largely peaceful. The proposed referendum will now take place on the 1st September 2017 following East Moreland giving the ok. The referendum will likely be the question, "What form should the territory of Scordisci take?" with options being a) Independent nation b) Continued Protectorate c) Join with Ui Cennseslaig. The Princess has been the Ui Cenneslaig advisor to the Scordisci administration since the establishment of the province. "An agreement was put in place that saw Scordisci's remaining government, which frankly had been decimated by the Jacobsen Virus, East Moreland and ourselves sit down and come to an agreement. Scordisci retained powers to govern several key areas including Health Care ,Education and training, Local government, Housing and Planning and the environment, amongst others. In these areas it was the role of our government to support their agenda. So yes Brigadier Meakin is correct that several Cenneslaigans have moved to Scordisci, this was done to help rebuild local communities and only after attempts had been made to track down home owners. These moves have granted old properties to Cenneslaigains, only the Scordisci government can do that. These migrants have been working, paying taxes and integrating into Scordisci life, they are not moving with the aim of swaying a pole, but to help a beleaguered region get back on its feet. East Moreland are acting as observers for this referendum and will in the coming days be offered a chance to meet with us to discuss the question and the method of voting. For Rokkenjima to then state they are going to work with "International Partners" to make sure no action "can proceed without the full scrutiny of the international community" shows just how unaware they are of this situation." The Princess also commented that, "At a point when Scordisci and several other countries needed help we stepped up to help our Celtic bretherin, and now in return we're being made out to be some kind of imperialist.  SECURITY INCREASED AT NUCLEAR SITES Following reports from East Moreland of an attempt by terrorists to capture nuclear material it has been announced by the Ministry of Defence that security at the nations various nuclear power stations has been increased. The nation has 52 power stations and the exact number of extra soldiers based at each has not been announced however at Meadowside Nuclear Power Station mobile SAM systems and two tanks have been spotted moving into position around the facility. The move was explained by King Finley during an inspection tour of the Glossop Highlander Regiment, "East Moreland are a nation very competent in dealing with terrorists, from what I understand they found this attack rather formidable, and therefore we need to be ready. They have ruled out the Borlanders and while the identity of the attackers is unknown it is possible any nations nuclear material is a target. We therefore need to be prepared as a terrorist group getting hold of material such as this would be a disaster for the world." Security Analyst Stephen McKeown, a former Royal Kerns Commando, explained, "The risk of this material being turned into a dirty bomb is quiet low. If for example these terrorists had got hold of this truck it is unlikely they posses the facilities or equipment to remove the waste from the secure storage and even less likelihood that they could have turned it into an explosive device without eradicating themselves and everyone around them. Any terrorist group trying this has clearly not fully thought out the process unless they are suicidal." The King also committed Ui Cenneslaig to aiding East Moreland into investigating the situation stating, "The Morelanders are amongst the first to act in times of trouble, they are our CNN allies and as such we shall do whatever we can to support them in discovering who was responsible and taking action to ensure that they can not harm anyone else."  REGISTRATION TO VOTE IN REFERENDUM CLOSES TOMORROW Registration to vote in the Scordisci Referendum closes tomorrow at 11pm with the vote to take place on the 1st September. The referendum will be monitored by East Moreland and will ask voters two questions. The first question shall be "Should Scordisci become a part of Ui Cenneslaig" if less than 50% vote no then the answer to the second question, "If Scordisci does not join with Ui Cenneslaig how should it be governed?" There will be two options, the fist will make Scordisci a permanent semi autonomous protectorate of Ui Cenneslaig, the second will make them fully independent. It has also been confirmed that any person who has registered with their local council as living in Scordisci and has been paying local council taxes will be eligible to vote. This means that a significant number of migrants who moved following the Jacobsen Virus outbreak all clear will be able to cast their vote on the future of their new home. Princess Una, who is the Royal Councillor to Scordisci said, "Many of these people have committed themselves to come here to a society that was on its knees and help them rebuild. They have built new homes and created a new life. We had one small village that had 95% of its homes vacant, after searching for their owners we find that they are all dead, meaning they would have sat empty for years and years. Now that village is once again thriving, its local pub open and a centre of its community, its school teaching youngsters and I believe it even has a Gaelic Football team. You can't say these migrants aren't part of the community. We're all Celts together and I hope the referendum result shows that." |
