RADIO FREE HRAEL WHRL 103.4FM, 901AM, On Air and On Line! [BEGIN TRANSCRIPT] Good Morning ladies and gentlemen to Radio Free Hrael, i'm your host, as always bright and early on this sunday morning, Rikard Sol, and this is Radio Free Hrael WHRL! [Intro Jingle] Lets start the morning off right with todays morning prayer. Hadar, Bless this new day as we go about our daily duties. Guide us in your service, Lead us to the ignorant, give us strength in your defense. Thank you for the blessings of this glorious day, for our friends and family, and for the wisdom you give us each and every day. In the name of Hadar! Alright folks, we've got a great show for you today. At 0900 we've got the National Rundown, 0930 we'll go over the latest Epistles, 0945 we've got the Manifest Minute--which lasts, as always, about fifteen minutes--and if you hang in with us until our ten-o'clock hour we've got a special guest who i think you guys are not going to want to miss. Don't go away. [COMMERCIAL BREAK] Welcome back to Radio Free Hrael. Lets jump right in, everyone, with the National Rundown! [Rundown Jingle] So, We've got some interesting headlines to go over today. There's a report, broken by the Hrakkn Courier, that the Triumvirs will be hosting a foreign dignitary in the coming months. New listeners may not realize why that's such a big deal, so lets review. The Holy Dominion of Hrael has had a tough go of it. Some of the older folks among us may remember the administration of the Novid Haras IX, blessings be upon him, despite all his administration did. He implemented what many call the Haras Blockade, or the Seal of Haras--this effectively CLOSED Hrael to the world. No goods in or out. No tourism. Nothing. It was incredibly damaging to our economy, shoot I remember when I was a kid going out for ice cream--my Dad gave me a ten-thousand Khep note. I thought it had to be a mistake! But sure enough, i only had a couple Kheps change! Can you believe it! Ten-thousand kheps! What a difference thirty years makes, huh? Anyway, Now we get this new Novid, he's only been in office for five years now, but he's been ruffling some feathers among the traditionalists. Reaching out trade, opening tourism. And now we've got the first foreign dignitary possibly coming in who knows how long! Do you know Max? Can you look that up? Our producer, Max, he's gonna look that up and get back to us. So this is a big deal. Now, i'm obligated to say this: The Courier's report is unsourced. they cite a anonymous source "in the administration" so this could be rumormilling by an intern for all we know. Especially with The Courier's reporting these days Am I right, folks? Ha ha ha! But lets assume for a second that this is accurate. Our new government is working hard to get Hrael back on the world stage. What does that bring? In order to GET influence, you have to concede influence. We're probably going to end up with a lot of foreign influence in Hrael, and many citizens of Hrael are going to have a hard time with that. I get it, i'm one of you. It's going to be important to see how this administration balances the need--and we all recognize it as a need--to have a presence on the world stage; with the needs of the people. We've all seen what happens when the desire for power overwhelms the desire for a happy populace. So keep your eyes on that! We've got a couple other headlines i'd like to get to, but Max is telling me i've been yapping so lets take a minute for some commercials. We'll be right back. [BREAK TRANSCRIPT] Alright folks, thanks for hanging in with me, and welcome to our Ten-O'Clock hour! As promised, I told you we'd have a special guest. I've been baiting you all morning, and Max tells me some of the callers are getting a little heated. What did that guy tell you again max? Ha! No no no, i can't say that on the air. No, I know you're letting me but YOUR boss won't be happy with either of us. Anyway. My special guest today is the Viceroy of our local diocese here, Garad Khartor--Welcome sir, thank you so much for coming on my show. KHARTOR: It's a pleasure, Rik, thanks for having me. SOL: So, I wanted to have you on to get your opinion of this--unsubstantiated, mind you, unsubstantiated report that the Triumvirs may host a foreign dignitary. My first question i guess is, do you think there's any weight to it? KHARTOR: Well, It's hard to say. The Triumvirs are notoriously tight-lipped about internal policy, so if it IS true i think someone is going to get fired for this; if it's not, i think it accurately reflects the desire of the administration to BEGIN that level of diplomacy with the world. There's so much going on, and Hrael has so much to offer, but we haven't even begun to exert any kind of force out there. So even if it's not true, i think it's going to be a well substantiated headline at some point in the next five years. SOL: Interesting, interesting, so you're saying, regardless of this specific report, it's something that will happen sooner rather than later? KHARTOR: Absolutely, i'm convinced of it. SOL: What makes you so sure? KHARTOR: Well, look at what this Novid has done. Not even that, let's look at some indirect indicators. The Imperator's office has been hiring like mad. I saw a report the other day that put it at, what, some ten thousand jobs over the last three years? That's HUGE. I think they are still trying to fill spots, the demand is so large. I take that as an indicator that the Imperator is building up for a significant diplomatic push. SOL: That's fascinating! But what do you think the average Hraelite will think of all this? KHARTOR: It's like with any change, right, there's always people who are against it. I think we're going to see some finesse with how the Triumvirs approach this. It has to be pitched just so--which makes it more dire for whoever leaked this report, because it takes control of the message away from the Executive Palace. But In my personal belief, it's going to be a positive change for Hrael and for the citizens of Hrael. We're going to get jobs, trade, diplomacy, tourism in, tourism out. Our culture will spread, and, importantly, so will the word of Hadar. SOL: You raise an interesting point, about spreading our faith. Do you think it will take in other parts of the world? KHARTOR: I think it's got to. I mean, when people here Truth, they can't help but grab onto it, right? So I think that just plays into what i'm saying about the administration trying to tightly control the message here--it's going to be very important that, until anything is certain, word does not leak like it did here, because you don't want the people forming opinions before they have facts. SOL: Well said. We've got to stop for a quick commercial break, but we'll be back in just a minute with more from Viceroy Garad Khartor--don't touch that dial! Diplomat under fire for Comments on Borland Hrakkn Courier (...)The Diplomat came under fire this week for cryptic comments about a possible informal position held by the government on the latest peace offering from Morelander splinter group, Borland. The remarks came following a state visit from the King, Queen, and Princess of East Moreland, in which formal relations were announced. Head of foreign affairs, Imperator Andros Arragar was forced to backtrack the diplomats comments: "We remain committed as always to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of East Moreland. There is no ambiguity in our stance of support for the Kingdom." Some pundits speculate Hrael may be trying to take a nuanced approach in order to gain leverage over our new partners. However, this claim has been repeatedly denied as 'Preposterous' by administration officials (...) Foreign Policy Taking Shape Hrael Times-Gazette A Rash of diplomatic and economic summits shows Hrael is beginning to come into its own on the international stage. Priorities appear to be securing friendly relations and trade partners, as well as the proliferation of Hadarism in an independent yet related effort. This is a clear indication that Hrael is focusing on Modernizing, which is not without its challenges (...) Hrael Economy Efficient, Vulnerable: Report The Peoples Economist The latest report by the KES Group shows Hrael as the most efficient export economy in Mundus. In a press conference, Director of Foreign Investment Harkan Steen said, "Hrael has capitalized on some deficiencies in the export market, but this will be short lived. Further effort is needed to make Hrael not just efficient, but Competitive." His comments are in reference to the fragility of our export economy, as Hrael has influence in several industries that are uncontested by bigger economic powers. While Mr. Steen hopes this advantage holds, he knows that once one of the powerhouses join the fray it will be damaging for Hraelite exporters (...) Hrael Loses Bid to Woo Multinational The Peoples Economist (...) The attempt to woo Multinational corporation Polymiser group failed. While details have not been released about the particulars of the proposal, an anonymous source close to the office of Foreign Investment says it was heavily protectionist. "The Desire for investment is opposite the desire for a protected or competitive economy. We can't do one without sacrificing the other, and we learned that first hand." It is unclear what lessons the office of Foreign Investment learned from this endeavor, but what is certain is that much more work needs to be done before we see big name multinationals making their home in Hrael. Spike in Crime in Hrakkn City The Hrakkn Local (...) after a rash of kidnappings and murders, Local Police Chief Morris Muldoon says that he will be increasing patrols. "The Streets of Hrakkn remain safe, but the confidence of regular every-day citizens has been shaken. An increased police presence will demonstrate our commitment to keeping people safe." Muldoon has been criticized in recent years for what some call his 'laissez faire' attitude to crime, with his focus on Deterrence instead of prevention (...) War Crimes Abroad, Snores at home? The Foreign Dispatch As War heats up in multiple theatres across Mundus, where is the Imperator? No comments or statements have been made, especially on our very own continent with war crimes occurring almost daily. Something must be done, why not us? The Imperator needs to commit to reforming the military so Hrael can take the lead in keeping people safe across Mundus (...) |
