![]() Welcome to the Apsley National News Broadcast New Government Elected: Matt Callsman has been elected new Prime Minister After a grueling six week campaign the Apsley Labor Party has been elected with the new Prime Minister of Apsley being Matt Callsman. The Apsley Labor Party has picked up 114 seats out of 200 seats, with this new 14 seat majority it is expected that reforms regarding same-sex marriage, climate change and education will be the centrepiece of the the new government many will be wondering if this new Prime Minister will be able to help re-engage the general public and bring the interest back into politics. ![]() This is what the new parliament will look like assuming the results in marginal seats stays the same Obviously we have the new government with 114 mps including the speaker. The United National Coalition forming the federal opposition with 77 mps. The new cross bench will make up of 4 of the new Johnson's Central Party in yellow, 2 mps from the Family First Party in turquoise, and the last 4 mps are independents in Orange. While we will have to wait till tomorrow to learn the results of the senate we can expect to see a slightly different result than in the house of reps because it is expected that the greens and the independents will make up the balance of power. However right now we can confirm that the two party preferred came in at 54-46 in favor of the ALP. This is a historic night for the Labor Party as it marks their return to power after eleven years of being in opposition. The 49th Prime Minister Jackson Jones shockingly lost his own seat, what makes this a shock is because he had held this seat for the previous 33 years and it also only the second time that a sitting Prime Minister has lost their seat. Prime Minister bows out: We now take you live to the concession speech of now former Prime Minister Jackson Jones ![]() "I know for many of you that tonight is going to be very hard for some of you to come to terms with but you can rest assured that our legacy has been secured in the history of this great nation. I would first like to congratulate Mr Callsman for becoming this nation's 50th, I did call him earlier and tell him this and I believe that he will able to continue to carry this nation into the future. In that call I also conceded to him that I had lost this election and unlike many of you tonight I wish this wasn't so but unfortunately I must abide by the will of the Apsleian people. Some of you may be thinking this is a bad night and I think that is the wrong way to look at this. We can take this opportunity to look at all we have accomplished in the eleven years that we were in office. We successfully balanced the budget and built a reserve of over $50 billion dollars. We have successfully reformed our education system for the better, we have prevented any terrorist attack and reduced the threat that extremism has posed to this nation. We the United National Coalition have greatly improved Apsley's economic growth, in our time in office we were able to bring unemployment to under 4% with GDP growth continuing to grow by as much as 3.5% each year. These are the accomplishments that we have achieved in office and this is the legacy which we will always have. To my wife and kids I say thankyou for putting up with my time as the Prime Minister, as you know I will be looking forward to spending more time with my family. As for my future in this great party I will not be looking to stand again for our nation's parliament as I believe that it is time for our nation to move on and move forward. I thank my great party and my great treasurer Mr Clarkson, who I hope will take on the mantle as leader of the UNP. Lastly I would like to thank you the voters of this great nation who gave me the privilege of serving you in this nation's highest office for the past eleven year and my own division of Massey for the past 36 years. Thank you Apsley and thank you for a letting me serve you in public office as there is no greater honor I have ever received." That was the former Prime Minister Jackson Jones giving his concession speech in his electorate of Massey. We now take you live to newly elected Prime Minister Matt Callsman ![]() "Today is a very special day for you the people of Apsley because now you the people of this great nation will finally have a government that will actually do something on Climate Change, Same-Sex Marriage and Education Reform. With the election of me and my team we can deliver on all these promises and then some! Now I did thank the former PM for his contribution to public life and I wished him well for his endeavors outside of public office. However now that we are the government Apsleians can rest assured that with me as your Prime Minister I will not tire for a single day until our mission is completed because my front bench knows that, you, the people of this great nation, that you deserve a government that will be a government for the 21st century, a modern government that can bring strong economic growth while not leaving behind the people that get left out of our economic prosperity. We also know that a government musten stick its head in the sand when it comes to issues such as Climate Change that is why during the election we set out an achievable goal of zero net emissions by 2050 and my government will finally act and make renewable energy the forefront of electricity production in this nation. By 2030 more than half of all energy production in Apsley will be produced by renewable energy. This is not only an election promise but it is now a government guarantee. Unlike the previous eleven years that this government has failed to move on social policies such as Same-Sex Marriage. Within one hundred days of my new government we will no longer deny Apsleians their basic human rights. In terms of other reforms I will lead a government that will finally fund schools through needs based funding, so that no longer will we have a two tiered education system. These education reforms will greatly increase Apsley's education standards to bring them back into line with the best schools across the world. Another promise that we will keep is that we will remove the Medicare Rebate Freeze. When the former government Freezed the Medicare Rebate back in 2013, they introduced the greatest cost to our patients in the history of this nation. Finally your new foreign minister will immediately be looking to strengthen our ties with nations such as our closest neighbors, East Moreland and Kaiser Adolf. Will will also be looking bring Apsley out from the cold and we look forward to working with such nations as Rokkenjima and Seaforth. Lastly I would just like to thank you the people of this great nation, as I you have placed your faith in me I hope that I am able to not only keep that faith but build upon it to have a relationship where we work together to help out fellow Apsleians. Thank you for your courage and conviction and I can't wait to get to work advancing this nation into the future." And that concludes tonight's broadcast of election 2016, well after eleven years it's all over, we have a new Prime Minister and a former one who for the second time ever in our history has lost his own seat. Can the new PM deliver on what he has promised only time will tell. To say history was made tonight would be an understatement. We hope that you enjoyed tonight's broadcast and here from the Tally Room we say goodnight and see you at the next election. |

![]() Welcome to the Apsley National News Broadcast Final Votes Counted: New Senate Elected After three days since the polls officially closed we can now confirm the new Senate and which party holds the Balance of Power in Apsley. Obviously the Aplsey Labor Party will hold the most senators, and they do with a total of 40 senators on the government benches. With 40 senators the Government will only need the support of another 6 senators to pass any of their new laws. ![]() As you can see we have the Labor Party with the most Senators coming at a total of 40, just 6 short of an outright majority. The United National Coalition has a total of 35 senators and like their counterparts in the House of Reps, they will make up the federal opposition in the Senate. Next we have the Cross-Bench, Firstly in the Yellow we have Johnson's Central Party with 5 senator's, Family First in turquoise with 3 senators, Green Party in Light Green have 4 senator's and lastly we have the independents in orange with only 3 senators not claiming to part of any party. This leaves the government in a very interesting position since they only need another 5 senators to pass any legislation. It is unlikely that Prime Minister Callsman would look to negotiate with the Family First Party since they are more inclined to work with the Coalition than Labor. If PM Callsman can get Johnson's Party to agree with him he, he would only need one other senator to pass legislation. Alternatively the government could get the support of the greens and 2 independents and they would be able to pass legislation. Or maybe we will see the government look to negotiate with the Senate on a case by case bases. The new government's ability to pass legislation will be officially tested come next week as it as the new PM will be officially sworn in by King Alexander II on the 30th of May. It is expected that the government will look to do two things on the first day of the new parliament and that is to legislate to legalise Same-Sex Marriage. The other will be to repeal the controversial Employment Options which was passed by the previous Prime Minister. |

![]() Welcome to the Apsley National News Broadcast Government Sworn in: Who are the new minister's Early today the Prime Minister and his new cabinet were sworn in at the King's Palace. ANN will now take you through all the new minister's and their portfolios. Firstly we Prime Minister Matt Callsman. He will obviously occupy the position of Prime Minister, he also does have the ministry of Cities, Industrial Relations and the Arts. Next we have the Lucy Altbecka, she will take the position of Deputy Prime Minister and she will accompany the ministry of foreign affairs. Next we have the James Christensen who is the Treasurer. Those were all the big important government positions now we will break down all the smaller ministers.
After the swearing in Prime Minister Callsman said that he was 'looking forward to working with the new cabinet to finally push Apsley into the 21st Century' and recommitted his government's pledge to 'legislate for Same Sex Marriage on the first day of parliament!' The First day of parliament doesn't begin till next week so we can assume the government will have finalised the changes it wants to the Marriage Act in order legislate Same Sex Marriage. We will also see the government's promise to legislate Medicare into the government so it cannot be privatised! Edited by Socialist Capitslists, 1st November 2016 - 11:06 AM.

![]() Welcome to the Apsley National News Broadcast Same Sex Marriage Legalised: Prime Minister Declares 'Victory for Equality' At about 10:30am this morning King Edward IV signed into law, a bill that has officialy changed the definition of marriage to include people of the same sex. In what has been hailed as a milestone for equality same sex marriage is now legal in the Commonwealth of Apsley, there were signs of jubilation on the streets of Pretoria with a makeshift parade even being seen at some point. However the many of the groups supporting Same Sex Marriage have said that there will be an LGBT parade in every capital city on 2nd of July to celebrate what many have been waiting for, for a long time. Some of the more religious and conservative elements of Apsley were visibly distraught with the decision crying out that this change of marriage will 'lead to the family being torn apart' and that 'We the people will come to regret this decision'! When the law was passed Prime Minister Callsman declared that today will go down as 'A victory for equality and every citizen who lives in this great nation'! Already it has been reported that some marriages have been organized for the following week. We have also seen that the leader of our closest neighbor Kaiser Adolf has been invited to to participate in diplomatic talks about trade. If these talks do go ahead the Prime Minister can tick off two election promises. 1 He has legalised Same Sex Marriage and 2 he is looking to bring Apsley onto the international stage! As for the government's economic agenda we have heard rumors which state that the budget won't probably be handed down till the end of this year or early next year. That will be the true test of this government and how it handles the nations economy. |

![]() Welcome to the Apsley National News Broadcast New Senate Deal Announced: Family First Vows Revenge Earlier today Prime Minister Callsman flanked by Adam Johnson the leader of Johnson's Central Party (JCP) and Independent Senator Dennis Markson. The three came together to announce that both the JCP and the Independent Senator will be supporting the government in the Senate. Meaning that when the Labor Party moves to put a bill through the parliament both the JCP and the Senator will be able to contribute and have input into each bill. Senator Johnson and Senator Markson both said. "The agreement has it that when the Prime Minister introduces a bill to parliament we will be able negotiate and haggle to see if we can adjust the bill to suit any policies that we want to implement. We also do reserve the right to vote on every bill based on merit but as things stand now there is not much reason to get in the way. We want to make the forty fifth parliament work and will obviously work in good faith with the new Prime Minister." This agreement has the potential to radically change the course of this term because if the Prime Minister is able to keep this agreement on the table for the full term he will most likely see his election promises passed, which will make being Prime Minister an easier experience. PM Callsman has this to say on the agreement. "This agreement allows Apsleians to rest easy knowing that this government's agenda will not be blocked in the Senate as this plan will give a greater voice to those who voted for the minor parties at the election. However this bill doesn't mean that we will be compromising on any of our core election principles such as repealing the awful law that is Employment Options.” After Same Sex Marriage was legalised on June the 30th. Family First Senator and leader of the party Bob Ricard has come out saying that until Marriage goes back to the proper definition of Marriage his party will fight tooth and nail to make sure that this parliamentary term is extremely chaotic and disruptive. However since the Senate Agreement between the JCP and Senator Markson and the Government it looks highly unlikely that Family First will be able to disrupt the Parliament and this government's agenda. |

![]() Welcome to the Apsley National News Broadcast Apsley to head for a referendum: Will we join the CMA? Earlier today Prime Minister Callsman announced that Apsley will have a referendum on whether or not the Commonwealth of Apsley will join the CMA. The Prime Minister stated "That while many people may feel that this organisation is a step in the wrong direction for Apsley because it would require our nation to send money to an overseas organization. It would actually be used to help Apsley in times of need or if a natural disaster were to occur. Overall though this organisation is very limited in scope and would really just mean a continued expansion of our nation into the international community!" The Prime Minister also stated that he would be actively campaigning for the success of the referendum and would hope that many Apsleians support his government's efforts to quote 'Bring out Apsley from the cold shoulder of isolationism and finally bring about a new chapter of success and cooperation between Apsley and the international community' Initial polls favour the PM with support for Apsley joining the CMA coming in at a healthy 60% pro CMA to the 40% opposed to signing the CMA. If we break down those even more we can see that of the 60% that are pro joining the CMA half or 30% of the join side say they would like it if Apsley were to join other international organizations. While 20% say that joining that Apsley should focus on the CMA first. While the remaining 10% of the join side say that Apsley should only join the CMA and no other organisation. When we break down the anti-CMA side we can see that 20% of the anti-CMA side say that they believe that this would lead to Apsley giving up some form sovereignty, 10% say that they don't want Apsley doing any deals with any international nations whatsoever. The remaining 10% say that the CMA is not the organization that Apsley should be looking to join. Looking at the anti-CMA side we can see that while most of the people who are against the CMA don't support Apsley getting more involved with the international community we can see that the 10% who believe that CMA is not the organization that Apsley should be joining. When asked whether Apsley should be get more involved in international affairs or continue a more isolationist foreign policy the response was interesting. 7% said that Apsley should become more involved while the remaining 3% obviously said that Apsley should keep an isolationist foreign policy. This is very interesting considering that these people would be voting against Apsley joining the CMA. When asked about whether or not The United National Coalition will be backing or opposing the referendum the spokesperson for the party said they would consider any proposal that the government brought before the parliament and would make a decision based on the merit of the the referendum but until then the opposition wouldn't be commenting or speculating on anything. ![]() Welcome to the Apsley National News Broadcast Apsley to Vote: August 28th is the date! Earlier today the Prime Minister the confirmed that Apsley will be heading for a referendum on whether or not the Commonwealth should join the Cross Mundus Agency (CMA)! This referendum is considered by political experts that this referendum if passed will be the fulfillment of the Prime Minister's election promise to expand Apsley's role in the international community. If the referendum was signed it would be the first time that our Commonwealth signed any treaty or deal with any nation on the international stage. We will now show you a small part of the Prime Ministers press conference. "Thank you all for coming to this today. So I am here before you today because I am here to announce that after a long cabinet discussion we have decided that the best time for a referendum on whether or not our nation should join the CMA would best be decided on the 28th of August. Now some people believe that only giving the referendum campaign two weeks is not long enough for such a big decision. However I counter that thought because I have faith that in reality the great people of this nation will make a very decisive decision one way or the other. This I am sure of because it appears that most people have already made up their minds when it comes to the CMA and it appears to be in favor of our Commonwealth joining the agency. As I promised during the election that I would bring Apsley into the international community. While if the people of Apsley do reject the referendum I can assure all the people that voted for this government that we will continue to look for ways to make Apsley a respectable and proud member of the international community." That was the Prime Minister there, currently the United National Coalition has stated that they will not be actively campaigning for or against the CMA but that individual MPs still posses the ability to campaign on their own. They came to this decision in a when a majority of the party room voted to not take part in the campaign. Currently the opposition doesn't have a leader however it is widely believed that either Andrew Lion or Mark Howard will take over the party soon. A vote for the party leadership is expected to take place sometime next week, if one of the two front runners is picked it will represent a new direction for the conservative party as Andrew Lion is from the moderate faction of the party and Mark Howard is from the more conservative faction. We will keep you updated if we get any developments! OOC: Assume I have joined the CMA but I won't do it formally due to the lack of activity from the CMA Edited by Socialist Capitslists, 5th September 2016 - 09:31 PM.

![]() Welcome to the Apsley National News Broadcast Darxit vote shocks the experts: Apsley Dollar Climbs Following the shock decision by the people of Dartfordia to leave to Cross-Straits Union many international experts are now wondering what this means for both international foreign policy and the future of Dartfordia as a whole. As one expert put it simply "We have never been in this type of situation before and we are currently in a very grey area." While the vote has shocked many Prime Minister Callsman has stated that "I think now that it would be in Dartfordia and Rokkenjima's best interest that they make this transition as quick and painless as possible because while we may not all agree with the vote, we must respect this decision and look to build back the trade deals which are now seriously in jeopardy." The Apsley dollar at this time has increased in value from $1.05 ASD with $0.95 Dartfordia currency to now $1.25 ASD with $0.75 Dartforidan. This massive spike has lead many to believe that next month's Reserve Bank meeting will result in a rate cut anywhere between 0.50% and 1.00%. More news coming out Heyra has shown that Prince Héritier Louis has been encouraging these moves on the markets. This would put him at odds with both the Governor of the Reserve Bank and the Treasure who has spoken on this issue! "While we have heard reports that Prince Héritier Louis has been encouraging this recent spike in our currency value, I am not going to comment on those allegations simply because they are unfounded we haven't seen any proper evidence to suggest this type of speculation on the markets and it is easy to see that the recent improvement in our currency is simply the result of Darxit and while we don't know if the effects will last we expect that our dollar will remain high for the foreseeable future and that more investment will be directed back into Apsley. However we expect to see some businesses lose their investments that they had in Dartfordia." That was Treasurer James Christensen speaking there. As has been reported before there are rumors that Prince Héritier Louis of Heyra has been advising people to invest in gold. We now go to Reserve Bank Governor Joshua Markin who is speaking on the effects of Darxit as well. "Now that we know Darxit will happen we can expect to see a continuation in the value of the Apsley currency and we expect it to continue to climb against both Dartfordias and Rokkenjimas. As to how far it climbs is another question. Now as most of you know we would much rather see a lower exchange rate so that we can keep Apsley exports cheap and affordable however this recent economic uncertainty will most likely mean that we will have to act to bring this back into balance. The recent rise on the price of gold was to be expected and no I don't believe that Héritier Louis is conducting any financial activity that would be considered troubling. As for the recent exchanges coming out of Heyra, we will continue to accept them unless we feel that it would push our currency to high. Since our dollar is currently at new highs I would recommend that citizens take a vacation preferable to Dartfordia or Rokkenjima!" That was Governor of the Reserve Bank Joshua Markin speaking about the recent Darxit troubles. Edited by Socialist Capitslists, 1st November 2016 - 11:05 AM.

![]() Welcome to the Apsley National News Broadcast Prime Minister Urges Cooperation: Bridging the Gap! Today Prime Minister Callsman gave a speech in which he urged for greater cooperation between Heyra and Apsely, the Prime Minister gave the address to the Apsley Congress of International Relations, an organization that looks at ways to improve Apsley's international relations and international trade between Apsley and other nations. The Prime Minister's office released a statement saying that. 'After hearing reports out of Heyra that relations between our nations has become strained recently the Foreign Minister has urged the PM to give this speech to ease concerns of those in the international community.' We will now show you a part of Prime Minister Callsman speech. "Firstly I would like to thank Chairman Neilson for allowing me to speak here today and that I hope this isn't the only time I will be speaking here... Now the relationship between Heyra and Apsely is unlike any other international relationship that Apsley has with any nation on the international stage. This relationship has survived countless trials and tribulations. Our nations have a historic partnership, there are countless examples throughout history where both nations have done far more than what is asked or expected of them. For example in 898 AD, when Pretoria was being sieged by an invading army the Prince of Heyra took his knights and delivered the crucial blow necessary to both free Pretoria but change the outcome of the war. Later on in 1786 when Heyra was under suffering from the scourges of piracy and their monarchy was looking ever more dire. Apsley came to the rescue to make sure that Heyra wasn't thrown into chaos and that Apsley would continue to have a strong military and economic ally in the region. While more recently Heyra has taken a less militarily engaged path they still continue to be a strong economic nation whose effects on the Apsley economy is nothing short of a blessing. Many people owe their jobs and livelihoods to companies from Heyra, many of these same companies provide much needed tax revenue to our government that is vital to providing the services which so many of us take for granted today. I also stand here today committed to the defence and protection of Heyra. The Apsley Navy plays a key role in protecting international trade so that Heyra can remain a strong and prosperous economy in the region. This is why my government will continue to long standing tradition of good relations between our nations because not only is it beneficial for both nations it is the right thing to do. I hope that in my time as Prime Minister I will be able to improve the historic relationship that our nation's share to an unwavering union of cooperation!" ![]() Prime Minister Callsman speaking at the Apsley Congress of International Relations (ACIR) That was the Prime Minister there speaking on the importance of the Herya-Apsley relationship. These words show that the Prime Minister has no intention of damaging the partnership between the nations and is looking to improve the relations to what he described as an 'Unwavering Union of Cooperation!'. Only time will tell if the PM is able to achieve this goal! Edited by Socialist Capitslists, 7th September 2016 - 11:47 AM.

![]() Welcome to the Apsley National News Broadcast Next Budget in October: What will the Treasurer Do? Earlier today Treasurer James Christensen announced that the he will be bringing in an end of year government budget in Early October. He said the reasoning for this decision was that. "Since the election was held in may the government has been put in a hard position to properly outline and fully flesh out any budgetary measures. If we are to continue to follow the mandate that the people of Apsley gave to us then we must show the people what we plan to do with the nation's finances. While this won't contain any big projects or massive changes, the cabinet will be taking this time to tweak things on the side and adjust around the edges so that when the real budget comes out next year it will allow us to make the changes that we were elected to do. I will reveal here that one of the measures that will be taken is that more measures will be taken to make sure the proper amount of tax is paid by every company, person, organization whatever. Now let me just say that this is not an attack on Heyra, let me make that clear, this is an attack on all the people and companies that think they can skirt our laws and our taxes to help themselves. In fact I soon plan to meet with my Heryan counterpart to discuss ways in which we can ensure that each nation's economic laws are followed properly and respectfully. It is vital that we set a precedent that no single person or company can live or operate in our nation without following our laws and our taxes!" That was the Treasurer there speaking at the National Press Club in Pretoria! Meanwhile in the United Party the official opposition to the government. Two MP's have come forward for the conservative party and are vying for the leadership. The two candidates are Todd Marsh and John Howard, this is expected to be a tightly contested battle seeing as many of rank and file of the party are calling for a more conservative leader to take the party further to the right. Also Todd Marsh is considered the more moderate as he also served as the Minister for Business in the previous Jones Government, where he was praised for his measures aimed at helping grow smaller companies. His critics in the party say that his concerns over the controversial 'Employment Options' legislation would mean he would not go as hard on Trade Union as more conservative MP's would do. His main opponent former Treasurer John Howard, has said that the next leader of the party must be willing to restore proper family values and look for areas to cut government waste. Or else they will risk having their 'throat cut' by the rank and file his critics argue that his positions are not projected to win government and that he would need to tone the rhetoric on government cuts in order to satisfy moderates. ![]() Todd Marsh ![]() John Howard Edited by Socialist Capitslists, 1st November 2016 - 11:06 AM.

![]() Welcome to the Apsley National News Broadcast Government Minister Speaks Out: 'Utterly Disturbing and Sickening' Earlier today a story was released in the FairMail newspaper Pretoria Morning Herald in which a Government Minister, openly and vocally stated that they were quite shocked with the recent social developments coming out of Kaiser Adolf. Wishing to remain anonymous for obvious reasons the minister said that they will be talking with the Prime Minister to discuss Apsleys relationship with the nation. The minister is quoted with saying. "What we have seen out of our closest ally over the past couple of months has been utterly disturbing and sickening. While some may say that you have to respect another nation's culture these types of laws are ultimately barbaric in nature and will only lead to more and more harm to an already fragile and discriminated community. I will be raising my concerns with the Prime Minister and I will be calling into question our alliance with our neighbour. When we made this deal we weren't, well certainly most of our nation didn't expect this discrimination to ever rear its ugly head ever again especially just across the border. I can pledge to any members of the LGBTQ community living in Kaiser Adolf that you will be welcome here and that your love is completely natural with no cause for concern. Then we get to the prohibition on alcohol to which all I can say is that, this will only lead to more organized crime in the short and long run and can only really end tragically as we have learned throughout history. When Apsley tried it back in the 1920's the only thing we saw go away was safe drinking and that was replaced by increased crime and dangerous drinking!" ANN has reached out to both the Prime Minister's Office and to the Ambassador for Kaiser Adolf in Pretoria. We have yet to get a reply from either! Meanwhile looking to the Opposition benches, the United Party (the opposition) has elected a new leader of their parliamentary party. The new leader is Todd Marsh, who served in the previous UNP government as the Minister for Business. The vote was extremely close as the 96 MP's and Senators filed into the party room to vote on the matter, since this was for the leadership of the United Party, the National Party members were left out of the vote. Out of the 96 members who voted 52 voted for Todd Marsh while 44 voted for John Howard. Surprisingly Todd Marsh has yet to pick a deputy leader but he did state that John Howard will be keeping his role as Shadow Treasurer. In a statement made early today Todd Marsh said "I would first like to thank the members who voted for me to be the leader as I know this was a battle over ideas rather than of characters. Unfortunately only one of us can be the leader of the United Party and I would like to thank John Howard for accepting the result of the party room graciously and it being clear that many members supported him I will be respecting that and instating him as the shadow Treasurer." It is now expected that Marsh will be looking bring the the party into a more moderate direction, only time will tell if he will succeed at this or will his ideological positions be his downfall. When asked to comment on if he would ever look to become leader John Howard replied "When Pigs fly!" |
