 New President Inaugurated Today the new President Benji Abe's inauguration took place, he vowed that over his 4 year term he would transform Satanica from an "isolated, religious lunatic controlled nation into a powerhouse and a testimony to hard work". His first acts as President are expected to be visiting other nations where he will try to gain support for his project to transform the nation. Following the inauguration the President, the Vice-President and there families went to Daitōryō hausu Complex where it is expected they will draw up a plan for the months going ahead. Kobama International Airport enters final building stages Today the Department of Internal Development announced that Kobama International Airport is nearing the end of it's construction. The Airport which will be the nation's largest is expected to open within the next few months, the project which was championed by President Akido Machura is expected to bring in Billions of outside investment. The airport will replace the ageing Takei International which has served the country since the 1950s. An Internal Development Department spokesman said that "This is a big leap forward for Satanica and it will be a vital part in building up the nations economy and infrastructure".  The New Airport

Imperial Crown on show Today the Imperial Crown of Satanica will be on show at the Daitōryō hausu Vistor centre. The crown which is a symbol of Satanica's Monarchical past is showcased for one week only every year. The crown which is similar to the design of crowns worn by Northern Monarchs is expected to be under tight security due to its high value. A historian from Nariya University has been hired by the President to look into the past of the crown and to speak to the crowds about it, he did this as part of a renewed push to get the people of Satanica to learn about there Imperial history and to accept that the past is the past and that we still have many years in the future to come. President Announces Plans To Increase Defence Spending At a Press conference today President Benji Abe announced his plans to increase defence spending over his tenure in office. International: Dartfordia Votes to Leave the CSU Yesterday the people of Dartfordia secured there independence for years to come by voting to leave the Tyrannical Cross Straits Union in a referendum which will shape the nation for years to come, for those remainers in Dartfordia we ask you to reach out to your brothers and sisters and unite to continue the development of your nation. The President's Office commented saying "This is a sad day for the global community, but we respect the people's decision and we are sure they will make a success out of this new oppurtunity we also would like to congratulate Mr. Cleaver on the win, this secures his mandate for years to come". Marnavra Highest Quality of Life In the Country Today the Society for Life Expectancy and Quality released it's annual City Life Index and it had some surprising results. Marnavra the coastal mountain city in the west of Satanica was revealed to have the highest life expectancy with Nariya not trailing far behind, several factors have been seen as the catalyst for Marnavra's high quality of life one being the significant decrease in crime and the increase in wages. Mayor of Marnavra Otto Van Barron said that he was pleased his tough stance on issues such as poverty and crime had payed off. The results have many wondering whether Marnavra will be the new city of Satanican growth as it slowly moves to take over Nariya in many areas the capital has excelled in for decades.  President Follows Through with Promise, Increases Defence Spending Today the Government's New Budget plan was announced, in the proposed budget the Satanican Defence Forces will receive and extra 0.2% in funding. Many General's in the armed forces have been calling for higher defence spending over the past few years but that is something many have been waiting on. The news was announced at the Presidential Palace today. In the budget the government also committed extra money to a new government department aiming to grow Satanica's population to over 90 within the next decade, They also announced new benefits for parents with 2 or more children including 5 weeks mandated leave for parents so they can bond with there children. Victoria Hana wins Nariya Mayoral Election Yesterday, The Nariya Mayoral elections were held. Victoria Hana a member of the Liberal Democratic Party won the elections further the LDP's grip on power throughout Satanica. Victoria, who is also the Senator for East Nariya has promised to reform the cities public transport system and speed up the building of infrastructure. However, some have doubts about her after a corruption scandal she was involved closely with during her time at the formerly state-owned bank, Nariya Investment Banking. They also have doubts over her husband who is a member of the former ruling family, the Imperial Household of Hana, however these have been dismissed by her and the households media officers. Victoria is expected to settle into her new home in the Mayoral Mansion before beginning her work as the mayor. Assembly and Senate vote to Leave the Imperial Alliance Today a special session of the Legislature was called in which the Assembly and Senate both voted to leave the Imperial Alliance by a wide margin. Following the vote the President announced his office was currently sending a communique to the Imperial Alliance announcing the nations immediate departure. The Assembky voted 374-126 to leave the Imperial Alliance where as in the Senate 91 voted in favour, 7 voted against and 2 abstained. There has yet to be any responses from Imperial Alliance nations. Economists Warn of an Economy on the Rocks A group of economists has today warned that the economy could be heading for crisis. The group is claiming that the economy will be in recession by the 4th quarter. However, economists at the Czar Think Tank have said that this won't happen. The Government however is listening to there concerns. The group blamed the possible drop on the number of cheap goods being imported from Nova Tarragona. The group also questioned whether the President would be able to reach his goal of having a GDP worht $3 trillion by the end of the 2016 financial year. As Vaguzia declares Bankruptcy the Economy teeters on the brink of Recession Yesterday the world economy received a shock when the Vaguzian Government declared bankruptcy sending the Satanican economy into a meltdown. The stock market plunged and the government suspended trading at dinner time for fear of the nation slipping into recession. The crisis council of cabinet members met and is discussing the events of the day. The government did however say the manufacturing sector remains strong compared to that of other nations with higher a GDP per capita and that they still expected the economy to grow. Nariya Investment Bank which holds a large amount of the governments debt has said that they encourage the government to go to all measures to get the money back and said that they will suspend operations in Vaguzia permanently. The People's Grand Assembly met and some more radical politicians from the two conservative parties which rule the nation are calling for the impeachment of President Abe. The Government has said that economic activities shall continue as normal tomorrow and that they will let the free market take control from this point onward.  Shock as Trading Opened Today

Kyuga Sets sail for Arstotzka Yesterday Satanica's first and only ever helicopter carrier set sail but it's mission was not military but instead humanitarian with the ship being used by the nations JET group to help those who's lives have been destroyed by Arstotzka's recent cyclone. The ship has been allowed to sail but is still under a ban of using any type of weaponry. This ban is imposed on new ships but has been imposed on Hyuga because of it's current mission to Arstotzka. We wish the crew the best of luck and are proud they are representing our nation in helping the people of Arstotzka in there time of need. We will keep you updated on it's progress as more info comes in but right now the ship is thought to be well on it's way and will hopefully be in Arstotzka by tomorrow.  The Ship on it's way

The First Lady sets out her goals Today the First Lady, Mei Okada-Abe, set out her goals for her husbands term in office. This included motivating more women to get involved in politics and to encourage them to have more children and have a family. The second issue has been highly controversial due to the governments recent push for more young people to have children. They have offered more money to services which help parents such as daycare's and schools. Afterwards the First Lady was asked about the economic crisis to which she responded that she thought the economy would recover quickly and that she believed the companies which were involved should seek help from the government to further there growth. Marnavra to host the Winter Games Today it was announced that Marnavra has won the rights to bid the 2016 Winter Games. The Annual games which will put the city at the forefront of sports have never been held in Ardia before and this is the first time. Jacob Hitazuki has been announced to be planning the opening ceremony with Satanican culture and history supposedly at the heart of the piece. President Benji Abe's office released a statement congratulating the city and saying he looked forward to watching the games, the President who likes winter sports is said to be looking forward to the games personally. Thousands of residents of the city cheered when the host announcement was made and it is said that it will pick up the mood of those who feel downtrodden by the recent economic slowdown and the Treasury even announced that they thought that it would help boost the economy massively. Wealthy Achkaerinese Businessman Murdered Late last night an Achkaerinese businessman named Benjamin Mitchell was murdered at his Marnavra home. The police are currently investigating the crime but have declined to release any details due to the fact that he is a foreign citizen. The Government is said to be in regular contact with the Achkaerinese embassy in Nariya over the crime. Benjamin lived in Satanica for over a decade and was well respected by local businessmen with the Nariya Investments Banks board releasing a statement saying they were upset by his loss. The National Winter Games Committee has assured anyone travelling to Manravra for the upcoming games that it is a safe city. The crime has reportedly been put down to a domestic issue and the killer is thought to be close to the man however nothing else is yet known. The House where the murder took place has been seized by the city to allow for further investigative work and it is not yet known what will happen to it following the end of the investigation.There will be regular updates on the story in the coming days. Snow in Marnavra as Winter Games near Today Marnavrans woke up to a beautiful sight as snow fell to the ground in the nations cultural capital. The city which is hosting the upcoming winter games is forecast snow for the next 2-3 weeks. Marnavra residents have been told to stock up on basic supplies as over 5,000 workers from other cities are brought in to help deal with the games and the snow. The city has been declared still safe to host the games but the snow will be a nice additive to the atmosphere in the city. This also coincided with the arrival of the President who will be staying with the cities Mayor for the games and as thousands of Marnavrans cheered for his arrival the snow drifted down creating a picturesque scene.  New Left-Leaning Party is Formed Today a new party has been formed called the United Action Party. The Parties first manifesto has aims such as removing any loopholes to block LGBT marriage, helping out the unemployed and legalising abortion. The Party also wants to give more protections to women working in the prostitution industry. They have said that they are moderate fiscal conservatives however they have said that they are very socially liberal. The party also stated that they wouldn't be opposed to the return of the monarchy within Satanica and also stated support for the nation to be renamed to Soberno, the name of Satanica under the Imperial Family, which has seen more Liberal Monarchists support them. The Party will not be in the Legislature until the next election where it is said they could end up winning big in Marnavra, a liberal city, and Hevala which is know as the home of the monarchist movement. Breaking News: Gornyak Insurgents attempt to overthrow Regional Government Today a radical group calling itself the Gorynak Liberation Front tried to take over the Regional Capital Volsova. This is surprising too many after years of peace in the region. The group attempted the putsch at 10:56AM this morning and at 11:07AM they proclaimed the Republic of Gornyak only to be arrested by Elite Police at 11:16AM. The attempted Putsch is suspected to be fuelled by the recent decline in the Gornyak economy after more and more Satanicans have begun to migrate to large cities like Nariya, Hevala or Marnavra. The President made a speech about the attempted Putsch outside of the Presidential Palace at 12:30AM. "Today our nation was attacked by separatists who refuse to use political means to reach their goals. These men will be tried for treason and made an example of so that people realise that the only way to make change is to do it peacefully and respectufully." The President also announced that more troops would be sent into the region as well as more fighter jets. "We will begin to move more troops into the region immediately and we will also begin to send in more fighter jets. We want to be able to protect the people of Gornyak from such terrorists and to do so we will need there full co-operation throughout this process and we hope that they are willing to work with us. Satanica to purchase 75 EMAC Dragonbreaths Today the Ministry of Defence announced plans to purchase 75 EMAC Dragonbreaths to the delite of aviation enthusiasts around the nation. The jets will replace the ageing fleet of Lion Cub Fighter-Bombers. The Announcement was made at 3pm outside the Ministry of Defence and the crowd which had gathered was ecstatic. The jets are thought to be some of the most advanced in the whole of Mundus and will be the pride of the Air Force. In East Moreland the Emac company is also very happy with Sir Alan Maybury of EMAC saying that he is "delighted to have secured the contract, as it shows the quality of the product they can produce is trusted globally" showing how happy he is that Satanica chose the Dragonbreath. The announcement came after many defence white papers have called for the replacement of the Lion Cubs to be replaced with newer jets. At first it was thought the Government might choose to produce more SADC Free Eagle aircraft however the Government decided not to due to the fact that they thought it would be better to diversify the fleet. President Benji Abe expressed delight for the decision as did the Emperor Pretender, Edward Hana, who said that he thought it was a great step for the Republic to make towards securing it's airspace. Abe's popularity plummets after latest Volsova terrorist attack President Benji Abe's popularity has plummeted following the latest Volsova terrorist attack. Prevoiusly his popularity stood at 63% however following the attacks it plummeted to a low of 41% which is low for a Presidents honeymoon period. The pollsters said that most feel he is straying away from his manifesto and that he is failing to hold the country together. In the Assembly many of the members grilled him on his reaction and called for him to do more to stop the attacks. The UAP however has benefited massively from the fall in popularity with estimates being that if an election was held tomorrow they would win 11% of the vote with the Union of Conservatives winning 48% and the LDP winning 41%. However, if Abe does end up somehow losing the Presidency his Vice-President is still relatively unscathed with a popularity rate of 56% however very little is know about her. Government scraps SADC Azuma Today the Government has announced plans to scrap the Satanica Aerospace Defence Corporations Azuma aircraft. This comes after recent complications in terms of the cost of the aircraft. The Governments reason for the scrapping of the project was that it "wasn't viable" and that it would "cost the taxpayer billions of Durus to continue the project. The project which had always suffered from a lack of funding will be completely stopped within the next few months. The majority of the population was always against the project which was initiated by Mr. Abe's predecessor. The Government said that they would instead look to procure more Free Eagle's and Tareda's from SADC to bolster the air force in it's time of need during the Gornyak insurgency. The choice will still have to go through the Assembly however it is expected to pass as SADC had already been recommending the ending of the program. President calls Legislative Election in hopes of gaining Senate majority Today the President called Legislative elections in hopes of gaining a Senate Majority so he can deal with the Gornyak insurgents more swiftly. This is strange for the government as Senate and Assembly elections are usually held alongside the Presidential and were held earlier this year. In fact the Union of Conservatives launched a legal challenge to the election but the party dropped the case following recent polls. The recently formed United Action Party's leader, Evelyn Fournier, announced that her party would be contesting almost every Senate and Assembly seat in the country in hopes of gaining a say in the running of the government. Bouvier herself who served as a Senator for the Liberal Democratic Party from 1996-2011 when she left the party will be running for a Senate seat in Marnavra where she was born and where her party is expected to win massively due to the states Liberal leaning. Satanica, a three party nation? Today the Liberal Democratic Party and the Union of Conservatives faced a crushing defeat with the newly formed United Action Party winning big to become the Second party in the Senate. In the Assembly a similar pattern emerged.. In the Senate the LDP ended up with 41 Senators, the UAP 29 and the UoC recieved 25. This means that the LDP will more than likely have to compromise it's laws. However in the Assembly which is chosen by the popular vote the LDP ended up with 195 seats, the UAP with 168 and the UoC with 137. In a press conference the leader of the UAP, Evelyn Fournier, who won a Senate seat made an emotional speech in which she had a warning for Mr. Abe. "Finally the two party system that has emerged for the past 60 or so years has been destroyed. The UAP will fight for the rights of the people that voted for it and for those who did not vote for us. And, if he thinks he can hold another election again and again until he wins then he better know that the UAP will oppose it. We will fight for equality, stability and freedom for all and we hope you will continue to support us in this." Meanwhile at the LDP HQ the mood was sombre as some influential Senators called for the Party to oust the President and place the Vice-President in charge. But perhaps the party which is the most shocked and upset is the UoC which has lost it's Senate majority and millions of votes. They were expected to be the victors of the election but the polls were wrong with the Parties slow path to recovery destroyed. They were hoping to fix their fortunes and control the Legislature and potentially the Presidency in a few years time but it seems that the 1990s were the UoCs era and that era is long, long gone. Leaked tapes show President Abe revealed state secrets to CEOs Today over 500 tapes of phone calls were leaked revealing President Abe has given state secrets to corporations during his time as Vice-President and President. This has further hurt the Presidents approval rating with it plummeting to an all time low of 21% with even his own parties politicians coming out against him. Opposition parties are expected to try and capitalise on the Presidents failures by running smear campaigns against him. So far none of the opposition parties have called for the President to be impeached however they will more than likely attempt to impeach him due to the negative consequences for them if they do not. The President released a statement saying. "I regret releasing the information in the way I did. I wish to apologise to the nation for this mistake but I ask for your forgiveness as I move on with my Presidency. I will not be impeached, that I can assure you and I refuse to resign. I will carry on as your President." Protesters gathered outside the Assembly building calling on Mr. Abe to resign but it is clear he will remain resilient. Opposition Leaders announce plans to impeach President Abe Today the Leaders of the two opposition parties in the Legislature announced plans to impeach President Benji Abe. After a meeting in Nariya the Leader of the UAP, Evelyn Fournier, and the Leader of the UofC announced they would push forward with plans to impeach the President and call a new General Election. 19 of the 34 Liberal Democratic Senators also announced they would vote to impeach the President if the vote was brought forward by the opposition meaning the President would go to a trial. If the President were to be impeached then the Vice-President would take over in the interim but if the President were removed from office they would remain as Interim until elections were held and completed. Sources close to the President have said he would "rather resign that face impeachment" but the validity of this is unknown. Abe impeached my huge majority Today the Legislature has voted in a massive majority to peach President Benji Abe of the Liberal Democratic Party. Vice-President, Sakura Yagami-Sanzo, has been appointed as Acting President. The vote happened early this morning with the Lower House voting 487-13 to impeach the President and the Senate voting unanimously to impeach the President. Shortly after the Vice-President, Sakura Yagami-Sanzo, was sworn in as Acting President while Mr. Abe faces trial. However, she announced that during that time period she intended to allow the Secretary's, Senate and People's Assembly deal with any major policy issues. During his impeachment Mr. Abe will move from the Presidential Palace to a private home of his own and will be stripped of all Presidential luxuries besides his security guards. The President shall be tried in front of the Senate and Assembly with the Supreme Court of Satanica watching over the procedure. If 3/5 Supreme Court judges vote to remove the President from office he shall be permanently suspended. However, if they choose to reinstate and the Senate disagrees they can vote to remove him but only if all Senator's agree. Speaking from his personal office the disgraced President apologised to the nation. "I am sorry to have disgraced this office in such a way that has shocked the nation. If the Supreme Court finds it correct to remove me from office I shall go silently and accept my fate. I wish to congratulate my opponents on their victory to end my rule but they should know that they shouldn't place the nation into trouble just for their own gain. I thank you for your support during my term and I wish Satanica the best as it goes forward. Thank you my friends." Despite his misdemeanour the President still enjoys a quite big support base with 27% saying they would vote for him if there was an election with him in it. His loyalty have been out in full force protesting his impeachment and saying it has done no harm to Satanica but it appears the Politicians disagree. Supreme Court unanimously votes to remove Abe Today the Supreme Court of Satanica has voted unanimously to remove President Benji Abe from office. This means new elections are to be held early January next year. The decision was made this morning after a relatively small trial of 10 days. Many believe that the decision was made due to a powerful speech by Senator Jonathan Manidas of the United Action Party. He stressed how the public had trusted Mr. Abe to run the country free of any personal or business interests. He also said about how all along the businessmen had been pulling the strings on so many things and that all of his major decisions were made by them for them and not in the interest of the Satanican people. The Senator has been hailed as a "hero of the Republic" by Senator Carlton Jenkins of the Liberal Democratic Party. Since the Presidents impeachment the former Vice-President Sakura Yagami-Sanzo has been ruling the nation and now she has been appointed as Interim President until a new election is held. She is seen as a strong contender to be the parties candidate in the upcoming election. However, this is uncertain due to the fact that meetings have been held between the UAP and LDP leadership since the Presidents impeachment and many are speculating the two could be preparing for a coalition which would see them have 1 united Presidential candidate. LDP-UAP agree to merge following Abe's removal Today two of the nations major parties have agreed to merge to give them a better chance of winning the next election. The leaders of the Liberal Democratic Party and the United Action Party had been speculated to have been in talks for weeks now. At the LDP's headquarters in Nariya the national Chairman of the LDP and former Senator, Colin Masuto, announced that thw two parties had agreed to merge to form a new centre to centre-left party called the Democratic Party of Satanica. The new party will control 62 of the Senate seats and 298 of the Assembly seats. This will give the party unprecedented power for a Satanican political party. However, as the core of the LDP goes to join the new party lots of the parties more right leaning voter base, many of it's former Presidents such as Robert Kiano and some of it's rising stars including the Interim President have moved toward the Union of Conservatives. The Interim President, Sakura Yagami-Sanzo said she couldn't stand by and watch her fiscally conservative values be torn apart by the UAP and as such she had to join the party which would be sensible economically. The right leaning side of the LDP has agreed to merge with the Union of Conservatives to form the new National Peoples Party which will have 38 Senators and control 202 seats in the Assembly. With the next election announced for January the 3rd and the new President set to take office on the 8th this could be one of the most shocking elections in the nations history. DPS clinch Presidency in Special National Election Today the Electoral Commision announced the Democratic Party of Satanica's candidate for the Presidency, Evelyn Fournier, had won the election wih 53.71% of the votes to the oppositions 46.29%. The result came as a shock to the newly formed National People's Party who expected the election to be much closer.Howeverm the NPP did manage to grab some Senate and Assembly seats but this was always expected by the DPS and was also predicted by pollsters due to more conservative areas who ended up under DPS control due to the nature of the mergers. In the new Senate the Democratic Party of Satanica has picked up 57 seats compared 43 for the opposition National People's Party. In the Assembly the DPS managed to pickup 277 seats leaving the opposition NPP with 223 seats. At President Fournier's victory speech the crowds cheered as she expressed her hopes and her vision for the future of Satanica under the DPS however the question many are now asking is whether she can get the laws passed and the people, Senators and Assembly members on her side. Evelyn Fournier inaugurated in front of Senate and Assembly Today in a ceremony in front of Senators and Assembly members the new President was inaugurated after her rather shocking victory. The President was inaugurated early in the morning. The black cars of the PPU, Presidential Protection Unit, pulled up at the Legislature at around 9pm in the morning. From there a quick inauguration ceremony took place before the new President, who also happens to be the first woman to hold the position, rushed off to attend to her new found duties. The first major issue facing the new President is the Phuebra crisis in which the President of the FBR of Phuebra was recently killed. It is expected for Satanica to train troops and potentially for the air force to bomb military targets to help the Phuebran government. Some Senators have warned against getting too involved for fear of reprisals in the form of attacks on Satanican soil but the chance of this happening is small.
