King Elendil, who reigned as King in Arnor for 40 years, passed away at the age of 87 from natural causes in his sleep last night. The Kingdom of Arnor mourns his passing, as he was a great and noble ruler and kept Arnor out of conflict and helped bring Arnor's economy out of shambles and into some sense of decency. He is thought of by many to be the greatest King Arnor has ever known in its long and winding history. His wife, Queen Gilraen, 79, had these words to say of the deceased sovereign: Quote: "I am at a loss for words upon my husband's death. He was a good king but an even better husband to me and father to his children. I saw his entire reign and not once did he ever show any malice or malevolent demeanor towards anyone. Elendil was a loving and compassionate man and I feel the solitude of being a widow already. This is truly a day of mourning for me, as it should be for all patriotic Arnorians. We have lost a King. We have lost a family man. We have lost Elendil, the greatest King this land has ever known. May the Valar rest his soul sweetly in the Halls of Mandos. May he be content in the great company of his fathers, and may his memory never die. Goodbye,my love. Goodbye, mellon." The rule of Arnor is to pass to Elendil's eldest son Isildur, who is 43 years old. His coronation will take place in a week's time in the capitol city of Annuminas, where dignitaries and delegations from all foreign nations will be welcome to witness the coming of the new King.
