![]() Thematania's Best Public News Service Avelina Zelma Elected as Premier ![]() FREEDOM'S PROGRESS - Zelma has been chosen, as Thematania's new Premier for the next four years by the people. She won by an extremely small margin after a heated election against Peter Lancrok, who was running for his first term. As a gesture of party unity and a move that made political headlines Premier Avelina Zelma announced Peter Lancrok as Vice Premier. This is daring move that may be the right one for Premier Zelma to push policy through the government. Both, come from highly opposing parties that came down to the wire. Zelma, from the Social Liberal Party, rode in on the election promoting individual liberty and the promotion of small, union-sponsored businesses. Premier Zelma's goal is to deduct the size of the government to sustainable levels while maintaining working and people empowerment. Peter Lancrok, apprentice of Mobi Delson, the first Premier of Thematania who passed away last year, switched to Quinist Party earlier this year. Focused on promoting Thematanian sovereignty and pride overall. The Quinist Party says this is easily done through maintaining Quinist ideals strictly. Contrary to traditional Quinist beliefs, the party want's to expand government size and have more wide reaching democratic government. Peter Lancrok during a Premiership Debate stating: "Large government is dangerous. However, placed under more democratic control of the people instead of just simply downsizing, empowers the people more to change the direction of the country." Avelina outright rejected this notion, stating "People empowerment is isn't this simple in terms of such a large system Mr.Lancrok wishes to promote. We must remember, that the Federalist government that killed political opposition by the masses, made this false promise and illusion. We must remember, the ability of a normal Thematanian citizen, and their ability to guide a country solely on their backs while contributing to their own lives. I am for independent assemblies and unions, unbounded from the government, not overbearing government with an inevitably broken system that will be too big, and will fail." These showdowns, was a glimpse into the political future of Thematania. Political analyst like Ampelius Hildebrand seem to agree stating, "Since the revolution, which led to an onset of a multi-party system. The varying political parties of Thematania have been slowly absorbed by two dominant ideologies, traditional Quinsm(Quinist Party) and liberal Quinism(Social Liberal Party). This is dangerous, considering we're spinning into a badly designed two-party system. Hopefully, the Green Party can pick up traction. The Free Moderate Party is also somewhat relevant." It's going to an interesting 4 years in Thematania, where we'll see the political stage set for the long term. How will Premier Zelma handle it? Can she balance both demanding parties and prevent political fallout? |
