Operation Tidal Wave raising eyebrows

Posted Image
Above: Naval vessels on patrol

We can confirm that last night the Temclusi Navy begun patrols in and around the Matilda Channels. All civilian vessels using the Channels are required to face standard boarding and search procedures. A move that is expected to gather intense criticism from the international community. Rear Admiral Abdul Malik in an effort to lower any tensions that may have risen, decided to hold a press conference. The press room at the Ministry of Defence was overflowing with reporters who were desperate for clarification to this controversial Operation. Here is what he had to say.

"As of 2200 hours last night the Challenger Carrier Strike Group has been deployed within our territorial waters due to security concerns. We have recently gathered intelligence that suggests drug cartels, arms smugglers and human traffickers have been using the Channels for illegal purposes. The destination of many of these vessels are unknown and as a result they pose a direct threat not only to us but to several other nations as well. The objectives of Operation Tidal Wave are simple. Combat global organised crime syndicates and secure our waters. Im afraid that means all civilian vessels are to be slightly inconvenienced by Naval units so as to allow for them to be boarded and searched. Those who are abiding by international law have nothing to fear. The Fair Seas Concordt is great, that being said we live in a world where the worst amongst us are always looking for ways to subvert the law. This will not affect freedoms of navigation as we do not intend on blocking off access to our waters or the channel."

When asked if the government consulted other nations prior to authorising the operation he replied evasively "we welcome all other navies to join us in patrols or to send observers. This is a battle we must fight together on air, land and sea. The Democratic Republic plans on being at the very forefront. The days of criminals having their way are over, this is only the beginning for us." In what seemed to be an effort to avoid anymore questions he hurriedly stepped off the podium and exited the room. The President's location is currently unknown but The Daily Nation has received a tip from an anonymous source inside the Palace that told us "he is not in the capital and has been away for the last 2 days". Whether this is taken badly by our neighbours is anyone's guess. What we do know for sure is the Navy has no intention of backing down.

Major bust for Tidal Wave

Posted Image

In what was by now a routine boarding and search operation for the men and women of the Temclusi Navy and Coastgaurd. A unit was able to uncover over 42 million Temclusi Dinar worth of arms hidden deep below the deck. The empty cargo vessel named Cape Maria Majuro has been seized, it's 21 member crew was arrested and is currently anchored 1 nautical mile from Port Musa.

When we inquired about the nationality of the crew and ship the spokesperson for the Navy explained "at this moment we are not certain. The ship was flying the flag of Selurong, but an extensive search led to the discovery of several other flags and fake registration documents. We have handed over the suspected smugglers to the Internal Security Agency for questioning."

He went on to add that "this clearly shows there is a need for our operations. Criminals of this world do not care about International Law and nations have to learn to adapt to new threats." Military bases along the coast have been busy after the government announced it was going to use soldiers onboard transport helicopters to increase the number of searches that can be carried out in a day amidst concerns of affecting traffic.

This major bust comes just a day after receiving intense condemnation from both East Moreland and the Galician Federal government. President Alfarsi, who's whereabouts are still unknown at this time released a statement to media houses. "We the people of Temcluse have struck a blow to the globall trade of contraband. Given the sheer amount of vessels that pass through our channels I have ordered the Navy to increase its presence further. They will act alonside the airforce and military. The Galician government wants to show strength instead of discuss these matters. As a result of this we will not bow to these threats and will infact ramp up operations. That being said, this is a global issue and Temcluse shall hold an emergency conference on this matter. All concerned nations are welcome to attend."

The document goes further to add "It is with the hope of a long term solution that the talks will be held. Until then Tidal Wave will continue to fight the scourge. Our intelligence suggested that the majority of vessels like the Cape Maria Majuro are loaded with contraband not at port, but in the safety of internatonal waters. This punches a security hole in any searches done at Port by nations such as East Moreland."

Reports from citizens tell us that across the coast small towns and villages are being cleared by security forces and several convoys have been moving towards the coast all through the night. Residents of the eastern town of Ugonvi reported seeing large amounts of activity in and around the submarine pens of Naval Base Tariq. With tensions at an all time high the capital is being prepared for the emergency talks.

QCG making bold moves

Posted Image

In an interview with the Independent, Quality Cuts Group Chairman Adiwi Fosa let slip a few details about QCG's five year strategic plan. The Temclusi state run meat packing consortium is apparently on the verge of initiating a deal that would possibly see it rake in billions annually by providing their products at affordable prices to nearly one million Muslims living in Helvetica without access to halal meat after a ban on the Muslim slaughter of animals came into effect.

Quote:

"this is indeed a big win for everyone involved. On top of creating thousands of new jobs and providing much needed products, we are building the infrastructure for a important new pathway of Oriensulan meat into the Helvetican market, unnoposed. As I speak now the funds have been secured and we are in the process of beginning talks with the neccessary stakeholders in both nations."

Based on some research the Independent has made there are approximately 942,000 Muslims in Helvetica, a nation with an annual meat intake per capita of 74.4kgs. Some simple math with the current price of a kilo of meat in Helvetica and we are able to estimate QCG and it's Oriensulan partners seek access to this $3.4 billion untapped market before deduction of costs and taxes.

Hundreds Dead In Shock Mass Desertion

Fighters loyal to the newly formed MILF (Militant Ip Liberation Front) have captured the northern town of Jakalis and surrounding areas near the border with Aeternum on the same day they deserted from Kalaf Barracks taking with them many heavy weapons including tanks, long range rocket launchers and Anti-air platforms. Posting on social media they claim it is "just the beginning" and called upon "all Ip brothers and sisters to join in fighting the evil Muslim Arab/Somali majority government" Accompanying this statement was videos of MILF loyalists executing men, women and children of Somali, Arab origin in what can only be described as ethnic cleansing.

Above: A large chunk of the residents in the Ip majority area welcomed the MILF with open arms

They appear to have taken advantage of the massive amounts of soldiers that were deployed to major towns and cities during the New Year celebrations. Almost 1,000 deserters who had remained at the main 8th division base in Khalaf turned on their comrades and fought their way out killing atleast 500 soldiers in the process. The Inter-Religious Council has condemned these actions along with multiple Ip community leaders.

Tribal tensions in Temcluse have been bubbling beneath the surface with many arguing that Arabs and Somalis still maintain an unfair grip on power. Such instability in the same region as the capital is cause for concern. The Military Spokeswoman told us that "we will crush these animals and any who sympathise or collaborate with them. There is no room in Temcluse for such talk."

Aid Convoy Sets Off For Antalin

Posted Image
Part of the group shortly after leaving port

Just weeks after the embarrassment of Tidal Wave the Navy has once again authorised a controversial mission, this time in the Sea of Antalin. A Rear Admiral Malik emerged from his self imposed exile to tell the world that "an aid flotilla of 7 ships accompanied by a carrier task force left Temclusi waters this afternoon. They will be bound for the Straight of Shaw and the greater Antalin area. We have only two goals here and would like to make them abundantly clear. To provide humanitarian support to the people of Phuebra and to aid our peacekeeping effort that will soon begin. We see a terrible conflict in the making and wish to ensure the safety of our Muslim brothers and sisters."

Adding the aid ships we estimate a total of 18 vessels though submarines have been spotted on the surface. The Temclusi People's Ground forces posted on their Chirper account a confirmation of reports that it was preparing to deploy. It read "TPDF will send a brigade to protect aid workers. #Pray4Phuebra"

The March To Heshran Begins

Posted Image

In what has been a busy day for politics in nation, the 2017 Campaign Season has unofficially been kicked off after the People's Progressive Alliance, National Unity Coalition and Temcluse Socialist Party commenced their nomination processes ahead of the party primaries. Presidential and Parliamentary hopefuls from all across the country stepped forward and put their names up for consideration.

What can we expect?

In what will be a historic election in terms of projected numbers of voters many pollsters and commentators say this will be the toughest election the TSP, founded by the national icon, Mohammed Adow has faced yet. After his tragoc death, the then Vice President Ali Alfarsi completed Adow’s term and then launched a campaign of his own. To many it was only successful bease Alfarsi capitalises on the popularity of the late President. Now seeking a third and final term in office, H.E Ali Alfarsi has little to show for his second term. A string of policy blunders, a weaker Dinar and rising unemployment levels have crippled his approval ratings.

Opponents are optimistic that this is their year. A source that did not wish to be named, from within the the ruling party told us “our leadership is extremely divided on who should be the flag bearer. Such a shame his entire cabinet is backing him. If Leila was with us we could win the general election.” If this is true and the Temcluse Socialist Party is fractured. Fielding an unpopular like Ali will place him 3rd out of current nominees as the latest polling data suggests though undecideds are quite high it is not unusual this early in the game, especially with millions of first time youth voters.

Several big names have planned fundraising events and rallies all over the country in order to mobilise support for their bids including the incumbent President Ali Alfarsi (TSP), Former Minister of Finance Jamal Yusuf(PPA), 4 time MP Joseph Juma (NUC), Former Prime Minister Adnaan Yuzaa(PPA).

Government 24 Hour Ultimatum To Militants Amidst Mass Arrests Countrywide

Posted Image
Above: TPDF units on patrol within the region

After several weeks of intense fighting around the border with Aeternum the Temclusi People's Defence Forces have managed to encircle the rogue Militant Ip Liberation Front. With their rockets and artillery shells depleted they have resorted to using child suicide bombers coupled with hit and run attacks on TPDF patrols. It is believed that the have been fortifying for one last stand after their ethnically fueled uprising appears to have backfired. Based on national census and Muslim Aid disaster relief data we can guess between 2,500 to 5,000 civilians still live in areas controlled by the rebels. Atleast 900 women and children could possibly be amongst them. The government has been quick to dismiss these reports and instead has chosen to label them as enemy combatantants.

A spokesperson for the President at a press conference defended the claims citing “these are people that choose to live with and fight for the terrorists. They are all actively taking part in rebel activities whether as sympathisers or fighters. Let it be publicly known, this is our final warning to you. All currently in Rebel territories considering themselves to be non-combatants have until 11PM tonight to surrender themselves into government custody. After that the TPDF will advance.” This statement comes after multiple late night police raids simultaneously carried out across the country led to the arrest of 75 men with intercepted communications detailing planned attack and anti-Temclusi propaganda.

Hama Industries Unveils Viper UGV

Last year when Ikrahn Robotics was swallowed up by manufacturing giant Hama Industries, we expected a new path for both companies. Today few were disappointed as they unveiled their first creation in what Group Chairman Fahmi Youssef called a new range of “great quality, rigorously tested and affordable unmanned vehicles.” Built mainly for the Temclusi People’s Defense Forces, around 50 units have been cleared for shipment to Benelux-Helvetica and the company is already accepting recieving orders from the private sector as well.

Above: A Viper on testing in Benelux-Helvetica

Easy to maintain and with prices at 250,000 USD it is over 300,000 cheaper than its nearest rival. The Ministry of Defense posted a video of the Viper on social media, the caption "Buy Temcluse, Build Temcluse is the way forward. We hope this relationship with Hama Industries will be long lasting."

brief specs

After the event we secured an interview with Chief Design Consultant, Retired Major. Rashid Afande.

Q&A

Just what makes the Mk1 Viper as good as you say?

Well there are multiple reasons why the Viper is the best option. In the interest of time I will stick to the main winner for me. Adaptability, it has excelled in every situation we've thrown at it because of its ability to transform into what you need it to be. In just a quick swap of parts it can go from providing suppressive fire for ground forces to shooting down enemy aircraft or even evacuating wounded soldiers. We tried beach assault, aerial drop, even lone reconnaissance missions and more in a wide variety of climates.

How is it different from other UGVs?

If you are looking for long lists of expensive gadgetry with all kinds of sensors I'm sure there are others on the international market for you but remember all those circuits mean is more things that can break down. What we did with the Viper was put the needs of those it will be deployed alongside first. It was made to be as simple as possible. I'm sure any soldier would prefer to know they can count on the man standing beside them when things get hairy than the benefits of any form of advanced combat tech and that is what the Viper is. An extra man on the team.

What next for Hama Industries?

Sadly I cannot shed too much light on what is to come but I can tell you that this is only the tip of the iceberg. Walking around the .skunkworks I have seen some brilliant work. More developers and experts are joining our team each day so definitely watch this space.

Detroika 2017: A Temclusi Perspective

Above: The scene at the arrival of Air Temcluse plane carrying team members

Final day of action at the Mundus Games IV and there is much to debate but even more to celebrate. As it stands currently Team Temcluse has a medal total of 38. This coming from a group of mostly first time Olympians that many expected to put up a sub par performance due to infighting and the disorganised way in which the Athletics Federation of Temcluse has handled the team. When talking about the Head of the ATF, men’s 400m swimming gold medalist Jamal Garai said “I personally hope Johnson Masumbo is investigated for corruption sacked from his job.”

All complaints about the team aside they have risen to the challenge and put on a great show in multiple events despite world class competition. With 9 gold, 16 silver and 13 bronze medals so far the nation celebrates

Gov To Iwi Observer Mission: We Expect Report Soon

The special forces unit sent by King Piripi himself for an independent investigation of the recently concluded operations against the Ip militancy in the North West. This comes after an article carried by the Free Mundus Network accused the TPDF of conducted an indiscriminate bombing campaign on civilian populated areas. A brief exchange between both countries saw President Ali decide to invited an unarmed international observer mission to tour the areas in question. In a short public statement the President’s Office said this was to “separate the truth from the lies.” It shot back at the article calling it “fake news, featured by an organisation that is widely known as a mouthpiece of conspiracy theorists.”

The accusations of war crimes has shifted many votes away from the ruling party and with elections nearing the government now wishes to put more pressure upon the Iwi to publish their findings quickly. "There is nothing to hide and this report will prove it without a doubt" is the message coming from the government.
