To explain her decision, Aracan cited a need to focus on her duties as the Vice President and leader of the Environmentalist Party. Amika Aracan I have found myself in an unenviable position of managing three major Mechean institutions… I must focus my time, and my energy where they can do the most good. I must ensure that I can continue to work with President Olit to enact our coalition’s policies to create a world for future generations that is prosperous and sustainable. ACE will be a part of that future, for certain, but I trust my colleagues there to execute that mission without my direct oversight. As chairwoman of the board, Aracan will still be able to direct the policies and goals of the massive corporation, though the hand-on leadership of the will be handled by the new CEO who will replace her. A new CEO has yet to be announced, but ACE insiders indicate that former Vice President Grigori Utkin is a likely pick for the position. Amika Aracan was accorded ownership of Aracan Consolidated Enterprises a year ago after the corporation challenged certain aspects of Vanrik Aracan’s will in court, resulting in the successful nullification of many aspects of the will pertaining to the corporation. As Vanrik Aracan’s next of kin, the court accorded his ownership of the firm to her. In the same announcement, Amika Aracan also stated her intent to step down as the leader of the Cult of Helus in Meche, citing the same need to focus on her current political career. Amika Aracan I will not be stepping down as a priestess of the Gods, no, but I will be stepping back from the forefront of the Cult here in Meche. Right now, it is clear that Gods wish for me to put their teachings into action in the government, in a time when so many call the honor of the institution into question. It is not known who will replace Amika Aracan as Meche’s leading priestess of the Cult, though certainly Coraists across the country will be waiting for the word of High Priestess in East Moreland on the matter.

The Ablator Missile Defense System, or AMDS, was tested this morning by the Mechean Navy in the Sea of Safraen. The test consisted of launching a land based dummy anti-ship missile at the Ambition class Mirzim Ilka, which was outfitted with the AMDS, three times in succession. The AMDS proved capable of tracking, targeting, and destroying the incoming missiles in all three trials. While the attitude at Aracan Armaments is celebratory in the wake of the successful test, Vitas Evurn, the president of Aracan Armaments, cautions that there is still work to be done before the AMDS can be brought to market. “There is still a need to test the system’s reliability in the face of environmental adversity and wear, and we certainly wish to test the AMDS’s capacity to defend against multiple missiles, rather than just one at a time. This test is a good step forward, however.”

Speaking of the design and intent of the space station, Administrator Sasit told to following to our reporters at her recent press conference. Quote: As intended by President Utkin, the VAMORS is designed to a Mechean led exercise in international governmental and corporate cooperation for the betterment of all Mundus. The core VAMORS station is intended to be a platform unto which others can build. What we are constructing is a series of cylindrical axial crew and power modules that will form the core of VAMORS, containing of the equipment, quarters, and facilities to maintain a crew and power the station. These axial modules are designed be able to be docked together end to end to build a central axis as long as we desire, opening the door to effectively indefinite expansion of the station. These axial modules will contain docking ports on their exteriors, providing attachment points for specialized client modules that can be attached to and supported by station. These will constitute spaces on the station that we can rent or grant to corporate or government agencies for the attachment of their own custom modules for the purposes of research, space tourism, or anything else they can dream of. Once we have a sufficient operational minimum number of axial modules in place, we intend to open applications for the station’s attachment spaces to the international stage, which we hope to do inside the year.
