 The San Mineato Herald Sovereign Duchess appoints first Chief of the State Today the Sovereign Duchess, Amy Ravenswood, appointed the first Chief of the State for Veduro. Thus came after the first Sovereign Congress elections last month. The new Chief of the State is Gianluigi Renzi of the Catholic Democratic Party. In the elections the Catholic Democrats gained 24/53 seats with 18/53 going to the Sovereignist Party and 11/53 going to Independent candidates. After being appointed Mr. Renzi went off to the House of the Ministry where he will reside for his tenure as Chief of State. As Chief of State he will be expected to deal with domestic issues and the few international issues which aren't taken care of by Achkaerin. His first act in the office was to propose a law allowing for the expansion of the Anthea business district and then shortly after he announced his intentions to create funding for a new cathedral in the heart of Anthea. Immigration for 2016 highest it has ever been According to statistics released by the Independent Commission on Immigration 2016 saw the largest number of immigrants moving to Veduro in 27 years proving that Veduro is still the place to be. In 2016 an estimated 26,000 immigrants came to Veduro predominantly from nations such as Achkaerin, Vaguzia and surprisingly Satanica. This has been thought to be the cause of the more than 1,200 new businesses set up in Veduro in 2016. The Sovereign Government has been encouraging immigration to Veduro for decades with a relatively simple but secure vetting process and a $10,000 deposit to enter the country, to ensure that people don't just come to live off of the benefits of the hardworking Vedurans. However, out of the 26,000 immigrants an estimated 17,000 came for work in services industry which has been short of staff for a while. As the economy continues to boom people are wondering if the immigration rate will continue to rise. |
