RIGHT WING MARCH TO KEEP NATIONAL SERVICE

Posted Image

Following reports that the Senate were looking at removing the requirement of all citizens to undertake a period of mandatory national service supporters of the Right Wing Agira Una political party took to the streets of the cities across the country. In Agira an estimated 70,000 took to the streets, many wearing the parties traditional red colour, to protest to keep the requirement. The party are narrowly behind the leading centre right party Movimento in the Senate, with just three seats difference. The Agira Una party have for some time been talking about how they believe the state is becoming like a nanny to the people and as a result the nation is becoming weaker. Their spokesman Papirius Carbo, who was leading the protests in Agira said;

Papirius Carbo

The government should look after the people, that is of course its role, its purpose for existence but the people should in turn look after the country. We work, we strive to make Agira a better place for ourselves and in doing so for ourselves. What the Movimento want to do is feather the beds of those who have managed to drag themselves to the top, allow them to run away from obligations to the nation. We must not allow that, every person here today wears red, representing the blood of the people who have shed their life source in order to make Agira great. Their sacrifice must not be forgotten and all who wish to share our safety, security and bounty must be willing to do likewise. We have seen a wave of new immigration and that wave of new blood must do its bit. We shall not permit this to pass.

The protest was however matched by members of the left wing Radicali Party, who have just two Senators. Around 1,000 of their members took to the streets to counter the Movimento They briefly clashed after both sides alleged the others throw objects at them and police made six arrests. The spokesman from Radicali , Salvius Līberālis said;

Salvius Līberālis

The protestors here are nothing but racists, we are living at a time of great humanitarian crisis in Albion and we should be opening our doors to these unfortunates, to expect them to then come and serve in our military is ridiculous. Yes our nation should, and indeed does, have a good military sufficient for defence, what I worry is these reds want us to go back to the days of conquest and slaughter. Times have moved on and now we must build a Agira that creates jobs and utilises our national resources and skills not forcing young potential into a military stagnating growth of our economy. We may be a small party, but we are young, only founded two years ago, as we grow so shall our protests until this unjust, outdated slavery is gone.

Salvius Līberālis also called upon the Consul to sign the Mundus Convention on Universal Rights, however Papirius Carbo called it "a document to make us no longer Agira Latina, but to make us a clone of every other nation in the world. We know our rights as citizens and that is enough."

PROTESTERS PAINT CITY RED AS SENATE PARTY TABLES MOTION

Posted Image

For a second day members of Agira Una have taken to the street to protest against proposals to end national service in the nations military. This time around 100,000 protestors gathered around the Treviso Plazza, which protestors painted red using rollers before police moved in. The parties rank and file are against the proposal as they feel that it weakens the citizens sense of responsibility to the nation, and is being done just to appease immigrants who have moved to the country in the last ten years or so. In total around 30 arrests were made, mainly those who had painted the Plazza, however five were also arrested for throwing paint bombs at a small contingent of centrist from Movimento who had gathered in a neighboring street to counter protest. Meanwhile while party members protested news reached them that the parties Sentate leader Agrippina Claudia had tabled a motion that many agreed would please nationalists. Senator Claudia's motion called for tax exempt status of "non-native" religions to be removed. Her proposal was supported with a passionate speech that is likely to bring about much debate in the coming days.

Agrippina Claudia

It is clear to me that the wave of immigration our nation saw some ten years ago has brought many unwanted consequences, one of those being that we have a number of parasites, and no before the liberal media accuse me of racism I do not mean the immigrants, I mean their varied faiths that they brought with them. Never do I wish us to close our borders when their are people in need, in fact at times of disaster we should step up, Mercia and Uppsala being two examples, but these people should be here temporarily, only staying if they embrace our nation and its culture. By embracing our Culture they embrace every aspect of it, including Roman Polytheism, this defines many of our traditions and ways, now they can clearly practice other faiths, I'm not saying we should go that far, but we encourage these organisations to come here. Take the Christian church, it sits bloating itself on wealth and land across Mundus, its supposed to be a charity and it actually makes profit, can you believe that? As such we should treat them as a business because thats the way they operate, milking every denarii from their disciples. Roman Polytheism on the other hand works for the betterment of our society and deserves all the help it gets. Therefore I propose that no religion other than Roman polytheism gets tax breaks, in fact I think we should go further and force every religious operation to pay 2% more on its income than any business within our borders, that'd stop them being bloated on the wealth of their sheep.

The move is likely to be debated over the next few days but is likely to not pass as Agira Una do not control the Senate, many therefore believe this move has been hastily done by Agira Una to simply try and derail the National Service debate while giving encouragement to their activists on the street, who rejoiced at the announcement with spokesman Papirius Carbo calling Senator Claudia's motion, "a brave step towards a stronger Agira". With Movimento having a slight majority in Senate it is likely however the Consul will not even find the legislation reaching his desk.

ARTURO TIFOSI TO TAKE ON FORMULA MUNDUS

Posted Image

Renowned car modifier Arturo Tifosi has today announced that he will support a team in the upcoming Formula Mundus series. The 44 year old Agirian is well known for taking established cars and as he describes it "tinkering with them to produce something magical". The car designer has run the highly successful Tifosi Modification Centre in the capital for ten years, working on the cars of many celebrities and occasionally working in partnerships with global brands from across Mundus. Speaking outside their test area where they unveiled their car for the series he spoke with great excitement

Arturo Tifosi

The Formula Mundus series last year had me on the edge of my seat, I saw a few races live and thought why, when we love this stuff, are we not here. Well when various openings for teams came up I thought why not. So we've worked tirelessly over the last few weeks to put together a car we think can go in there and do well, remember we are years behind the others in pedigree but not in commitment and that will help us. I also hope we can bring a race here, imagine it the excitement of wheel to wheel racing in our nation with the worlds elite, I think we can promise the organisers a special weekend. To have my name branded across a very beautiful vehicle that will travel Mundus , well its what this is all about, cars that look good and cause excitement is why I was put on this planet. I hope the nation will get behind the team and wish our drivers Quintus Varusi and Marcus Apollonius, all the best.

The team have selected 25 year old Formula Latina Champion Quintus Varusi as their lead driver with respected touring car driver Marcus Apollonius as his team mate. The pair have never competed in this formula but have reputations for being hard workers with a good knowledge of their vehicles. The first race of the season is still some way off and will see Tifosi Racing head to Vafleon to compete. It is hoped that the 17th race of the season will bring the action to Agira.

ARGEI FESTIVAL TURNS CONTROVERSAL

Posted Image

As the annual Argei Festival began in Agrai the usually jovial scenes turned to violence. The festival takes place every May 15th and sees thousands of people walk 15 miles around the city in procession collecting idols and effigies. These represent negative aspects of life, such as evil, poverty, hunger etc, and in recent years they have also included things such as pollution and bullying. This is a festival that dates back to the 6th Century BC and was thought to be a way of the priests purifying the city. In recent years however it has become the norm for local groups to come together and socialise making the effigies before celebrating their causes. The festival then see's these groups converge on the Pons Sublicus bridge where the effigies are thrown into the river where the straw and grass figures are destroyed, representing the banishing of negativity for another year.

This year however the procession of the Movimento party, the nations centrist majority party in Sentae, caused controversy when one of their 26 figures represented Agrippina Claudia, the Senator who yesterday introduced a bill in Senate aimed at ending tax breaks on what she calls "non-native" religions. Trouble started when the Movimento party meet with a group of the right wing Agira Una members. The right wing Agira Una party took offence to the use of a sitting Senator as one of their effigies, something that while not banned is frowned upon. Fighting broke out between the two groups as Agira Una attempted to take control of the effigy. There were around 15 arrests made as riot police broke up the fighting. This is now the third day of inter-party political violence.

The rest of the days festivities went off without a problem and around 300 different effigies were thrown into the river. Tonight will see the festival of Mercuralia begin where people ask for blessings for the year ahead, already large cues have formed outside the cities landmark ancient arena known as the Agiran Amphitheatre where they await the blessings of a member of the Cult of Mercury. Riot police are still on standby as the crowd forms.

Posted ImageSENATOR COLONI MISSING

Posted Image

A key member of the Movimento Parties team pushing for an end to national service has gone missing and as a result was not able to take part in an important debate. Julianna Coloni, aged 43, was one of the team of Senators who drafted the proposal and had taken part in extensive studies on the impact of National Service on society in Agiria Latina and across Mundus. Her papers have concluded that National Service has a negative economic impact and a minimal society impact, with many detractors talking about how National Service creates a more respectful and responsible society. The Lentini native left her office an hour before the debate and has failed to return home or contact either party officials or relatives.

A spokesman for the Movimento Party said, "We are worried about Julianna, this is so out of character and she wouldn't let her party down in this way. She is a dedicated politician who has devoted her life to helping the people of our nation. We ask anyone with any information to come forward or if she hears this to contact us."

The Movimento Party attempted to halt the debate however the speaker insisted it go ahead. The vote following it saw Movimento's narrow 3 seat majority almost overturned however the Bill will now be voted on in its current form with none of the amendments put forward being accepted.

Political rivals Agira Una meanwhile have spoke about working with other parties. Agrippina Claudia, whose own bill on imposing taxation on religions seen as non-native will come up for vote tomorrow, has called for her party to work with other nationalists saying, "Our nation stands at a cross roads, it is those of us who care for Agira to see it we take the correct path, our nation must not destroy its traditions just because the left wing liberals wish to appease foreigners within our borders.

"TIME NOT RIGHT" FOR MCUR SAYS CONSUL

Posted Image

During an appearance at the University of Agira the Consul Gemini Marcia spoke about the fact that he will not sign the Mundus Convention of Universal Rights. During the speech he focused upon the changing role of the international community and was then asked about signing the document which is being pushed by left wing parties in the nation.

Consul Gemini Marcia

International Law is essential for good order in our world, the Fair Seas Concordt, the Uppsala Convention, all are extremeliy noble documents, I believe deep down the MCUR is also a noble document, however the time is not right for our nation to sign this document. Rights need to be what are accepted by the community they pertain to represent, for example here in Agria Latina those in same sex relations are granted all rights they can imagine, but not marriage, look at the Gods, they married but we don't see Mars and Jupiter marrying do we? Now that is not to say those who are in same sex relationships should not be protected, love is after all blind and someone should not be punished for who they fall in love with. However our institution of civil partnership grants they all the rights they need. By signing the MCUR we will be forced to go against a deeply held belief within our nation. Now should things change within our nation, or a way be found to accommodate our stance and belief then yes we shall sign it. What the world however must understand is that we are a nation of tolerance, equality and acceptance and therefore our lack of MCUR signature means very little if anything.

It is not known how the world will react to the Consul's speech.

Posted ImageSENATE DESCENDS INTO CHAOS FOLLOWING NATIONAL SERVICE BILL VOTE

Posted Image

Last night the Senate voted on the National Service Bill put forward by Movimento, the bill was defeated by six votes, however the surprising thing was a large number of absences from within the Movimento party. A total of 18 Senators of the centrist party failed to attend what was a vital vote, amongst them influential Senator Julianna Coloni who is still missing. As the votes were announced members of Movimento accused their political rivals, the right wing Agira Una of some kind of foul play, leading to counter accusations of Movimento being unpatriotic. The clash of words soon turned into fighting as Senators from both sides ignored warnings from the speaker to return to their seats and before long fist fights broke out in the Senate chamber.

Police were called and a total of 8 arrests were made, meanwhile Agira Una Senator, Agrippina Claudia, was injured when someone pushed her down the stairs. The popular senator is due to introduce her Religious Taxation Bill to the Senate tomorrow. The 37 year old Senator was taken to hospital where it was confirmed she had broken her collarbone, it is not yet known who pushed her however news cameras from within the chamber are being checked by the Police.

Consul Gemini Marcia spoke about the violence.

Consul Marcia

Passion and politics have always gone side by side in Agira, that is the way it is, however today that overstepped the mark. A debate and vote on a highly important issue for our nation has now been marginalised by these crazy scenes, it is as though our politicians are losing their minds. Even on the streets we political violence and no party is stepping up to slack this action. Tonight Senator Claudia has been badly injured because of her politician stance, the perpetrator must be found and punished, our senators must be free to voice their opinion, cast their votes and do their jobs without the spectre of violence. I will be working with the Police and the Speaker to ensure the next debate on Religious Taxation is conducted in an orderly, adult manner.

Consul Marcia then confirmed that the Senate will be closed for two days as it is now a crime scene, he further added that the temporary closure will, "allow heads to cool."

Posted ImageCHURCH TO PAY TAX AS MOVIMENTO SENATORS IN JAIL

Posted Image

Following this weeks senate violence there was a much calmer scene today in the Senate as Senator Agrippina Claudia, who was wearing a sling, introduced the bill which if successful would see "Non-Native" religious institutions pay tax on their earnings within Agira Latina. The debate was heated but Senators remained in their seats, however due to fact that seven members of Movimento are still in custody after their part in the other days violence within the Senate chamber, and with Julianna Coloni still missing the party was in the minority for a change. As such the bill was passed by ten votes as Agira Una managed to form a coalition with other right wing parties.

What does the new law mean?

  • Any religion not based around the worship of Jupiter and his fellows is considered "Non-Native"
  • All non-native religions now pay 1% of their property value annually to the government
  • All non-native religions now pay 5% tax on their income.
  • All non-native religions now pay 2% tax on funds sent outside Agira Una
  • All non-native religions selling property pay 5% tax on its sale
  • All non-native religions buying property pay 1.5% of its value as a tax.
  • All non-native religions may not register as a charity, nor may their schools or organisations.

In response to this the Christian Agira Brotherhood, the nations leading Christian church has called it an "outrage" as Archbishop Enzio Fabrizzo called for the Senate to look at an immediate overturn of the laws once the liberal leaning Movimento is back at full strength.

Posted ImageAGIRA UNA ACTIVISTS CALL FOR MOVIMENTO TO BE SUSPENDED

Posted Image

Agira Una have seen thousands of new members over the last year since they came 2nd in the Senate elections. Figures released at the end of last week saw their membership figures take them ahead of centrist Movimento, a party with whom they have clashed in recent weeks. The parties membership now stands at around 1million, which is believed to be some 200,000 more than Movimento. Many members of the party took to the streets of the capital yesterday calling for Movimento to be suspended from the Senate. In recent days the two parties have clashed over national service, a bill to halt this process was defeated narrowly in the Senate, with Movimento accusing Agira Una of dirty tricks in preventing their senators from reaching the Senate. Members of Movimento who missed the vote reported such measures as their cars being tampered with, being intimidated and in one case robbed, while no evidence has been presented they claim this action came from Agira Una members.

An estimated 30,000 members of Agira Una took to the streets, congregating at the Agiran Amphitheatre, to call of the Consul to suspend the party. They carried banners and chanted their demand while peacefully occupying the square that surrounds the ancient monument. Riot police were on standby and were not needed until around 150 members of Movimento arrived and began throwing bricks at the crowd, 16 arrests were made. Agira Una spokesman Papirius Carbo addressed the crowd following riot police restoring order.

Papirius Carbo

Today we have seen that while these centrists call us intolerent, it is clear it is they who refuse to allow alternative ideas. I would normally have said that all people willing to serve the senate are patriots, people who regardless of their political beliefs are willing to place the betterment of this nation above their own family even. Today we are not seeing that, we are seeing an organisation in Movimento which is betraying the principles of community, responsibility and brotherhood that have unified us for so long. Our nation has a history of stability, despite internal political differences, now we see this group attacking our senators, attacking the public on the street and placing the needs of outsiders in Agira above the needs of the people. Now Movimento, and their Radicali lap dogs will call us racist, call us aggressors and other such things. We however have no issue with foreigners, I would be thrilled to see Agira stand up and help the refugees of say Uppsala, but not giving them the same rights as a native of this beautiful country. Only Agira Una cares for the Agiran people. As such we need to make the honourable Consul Gemini Marcia use his powers to suspend Movimento until they drop their aggressive actions.

However the leader of Movimento, Salius Pompiana was angry at what he perceives as intimidation by the right wing party.

Salius Pompiana

We are seeing in Agira Una a party that are sly. They try and sound all reasonable but they goad and intimidate anyone who is not right wing, they attend rallies of all parties in large numbers with their fireworks and red outfits, shouting over whoever speaks. It is not our fault that people have tried now to protect themselves from their actions. We also see them playing dirty tricks with their members attacking our senators. I fear what may have happened to some of them. We must have the Consul take a stand against them now.

It was later announced that Consul Marcia is to speak to the leaders of all political parties at 8am tomorrow.

Posted ImageSENATOR COLONI FOUND DEAD

Posted Image

The missing Movimento Senator, Julianna Coloni (Aged 43) was today found dead in woods on the edge of the city of Masila. Police have yet to release details of how the politician died however they have announced that they are treating it as suspicious. Coloni had campaigned tirelessly for a more open Agira Latina and had more recently proposed ending national service, however she went missing the day before the debate and many believe her lack of input may have seen those voters in two minds vote to keep the practice. Her husband, journalist Pierluigi Coloni, has asked for the family to be given privacy at this difficult time.

Members of her party have however already begun suggesting that her death was a politically motivated murder. Her Movimento colleague, Simona Liberna was clearly emotional when she spoke to a small gathering of journalists and paid tribute to her friend before laying the blame at political rivals.

Simona Liberna

Julianna has been a wonderful representative of the people, I am shocked and saddened that she has been murdered, she was a lovely woman, a great mother and a valued friend and colleague. When I heard the news my heart was broken and our party has lost a bright star in our battle to keep our nation moving forward. It is testimony to the aggressive and nasty nature of politics that Agira Una have created, this new wave of nationalism has created a divide and rule mentallity as they seek to split our party either through trying to pit us against each other, or intimidation, and now seemingly murder. It is my hope that the Consul will now investigate their aggression and ban the party until justice is brought.

Meanwhile leader of Agira Una, the right wing party which has seen remarkable grass roots support in recent weeks, Tiberius Claudius refuted these claims in a rather sympathetic manner.

Tiberius Claudius

Normally I would be contacting our legal teams and asking them to take action against Simona, that however would be inhumane, she is speaking with misguided emotion. I am sure once things settle down she will realise the folly of her words and I am sure at that time she will correct what she has said. It is true our members are passionate but they are not violent thugs of the type she is implying. I would ask our activists to carry love and compassion in their hearts at this time and out of respect for Julianna take no political action for the next two days. She may have sat on the opposite side of the benches from us but she was a proud Agirian and that is worthy of our respect.

Posted ImageRIOTS FOLLOW COLONI FUNERAL

Posted Image

Following the funeral of politician Julianna Coloni , a prominent senator from the Movimento Party a series of riots have broke out across the capital leaving six police officers severly injured. The riots began as grass roots mebers of Movimento made their way into the central plaza of Agira to call upon the Senate to suspend the right win party Agira Una, whom it blames for Coloni's death. Police are still investigating the senators death and have confirmed that she died from a single knife wound to the base of her skull. Members of Movimento are claiming that this was provoked by verbal and internet attacks on Coloni following her defeated National Service Bill. As Movimento called for the suspension of Agira Una members of that parties grass roots movement began a small counter protest which soon swelled once the small group came under attack.

By 2pm the area around the Senate was being locked down by police in riot gear who were pelted from the Movimento side by petrol bombs. Agira Una's numbers soon increased as word spread on social media and before long they outnumbered Movimento. Police called for military support and the nations Praetorian Guard unit that usually ceremonially guards the Senate building moved in and cleared the square. In total 43 people were arrested on a variety of offences ranging from assault to carrying a weapon.

Throughout the rest of the day and evening a series of small flashpoints raged throughout the capital, and even in the city of Lentini where a further 33 people were arrested. Salius Pompiana, Leader of Movimento released a statement through the parties website.

Salius Pompiana

The actions today show the anger our supporters have because of the way our party is targeted. We are seeing a new kind of politics, a type that is angry and evil, it promotes attacks both physical and verbal on senators and their staff. Social Media is full of threats to these people and it only takes one person to act on this for matters. Agira Una are attacking us verbally and now physically.

However Tiberius Claudius, leader of Agira Una took to a live media stream to counteract this statement

Tiberius Claudius

The fact that Julianna Coloni has been murdered is extremely sad. Our party has, to my knowledge nothing to do with this, and until I have seen evidence to say opposite then I can not change that view. We are a party committed to ensuring the survival of our nations culture and way of life, Movimento are giving that away, as such yes at times we do take a direct stance against them, but only in Senate. Today we saw their thugs throw petrol bombs at Police while our party stood peacefully. To call for our suspension then is ridiculous.

Posted ImageCONSUL DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY FOLLOWING MONTH OF VIOLENCE

Posted Image

Over the last month the nation of Agira Latina has seen numerous political protests turn violent following a series of clashes between two of the nations biggest political parties. The right wing Latina Una and left moving Movimento have been clashing both inside the Senate and on the streets of various major cities. The first riots came just hours after Movimento Senator, Julianna Coloni's funeral following her still unsolved murder, these have continued across the country as Movimento accuse Agira Latina of the murder and the right wingers accuse Movimento of selling out their country to liberal ideals. The latest clashes in Palermo saw 12 members of the Police hospitalised along with twenty six protesters, additionally members of the 4th Legion were called onto the streets to support riot police.

Speaking from Agira, the capital, Consul Gemini Marcia made the decision to suspend the Senate and initaite a nationwide state of emergency.

Consul Gemini Marcia

Today is a very sad day for Agira Latina. I am declaring a nationwide state of emergency effective immediatly, this will be enforced by the various Legions across the country and they will be supported by local law enforcement. This was not an easy decision, our country has always had a very passionate political scene, and despite differences we have managed to co-exist and form effective governments, this however is now falling apart and this can not continue. Agira Una and Movimento have much to answer for and in the coming days I will be meeting with their leaderships to leave them in no doubt that their membership must act within the law, if they do not then we may need to take the unprecedented step of branding them a terrorist organisation in order to stop them being able to cause the disruption we have seen. I hope all citizens will co-operate fully with the state of emergency.

The state of emergency may last indefinatley unless the High Court overrules it. The measures put in place the following measures;

  • Curfew between 10pm and 6am. Exceptions for this are essential workers and they must carry ID.
  • Military given police powers
  • Fast track courts for anyone breaking this order
  • All people to carry ID at all times, this includes foreigners who must carry passports.
  • Media outlets to be scrutinised by government officials.
  • No political posters, adverts or media to be permitted
  • Suspension of the football season until further notice

Further limitations will be imposed in the coming days and citizens should keep informed through local radio and media outlets.
