GENERAL ASSEMBLY SUBMISSION FORM Formal Name of Submitting Nation(s): Sakura Sheppard, Secretary General CTO Nations involved: All CTO nations & Mercia Title of Submission: Mercia Resolution Draft Resolution:
Any other details: This is required due to the previous actions of this organisation. In order to acknowledge the shift of power in Mercia and to allow CTO members to conduct relations with Mercia this resolution is required. Sakura stood at the front of the General Assembly looking around the chamber at the assembled delegates, the resolution in draft form on the screens behind her. "We come now to the matter of Mercia. Members will remember that this organisation's approach to the Mercia situation was at first very lacking, in fact so lacking that it was non-existent. This organisation had the opportunity to stop the genocide before it got to the level that it did and it failed to do that because the vast majority of nations assembled here refused to debate it, this failure is accounted for in article three of the resolution as an organisation we owe Mercia that apology. Events in Mercia got to the point where decency and morality demanded action and so unilateral action was taken first by East Moreland and then by Achkaerin and this is noted in the resolution. We also saw a non CTO nation step up in the form of Ui Cenneslaig they effectively did something that this organisation should have been in a position to do and this is also noted. The crux of this resolution is in articles one and two. Eventually under my cousin's term Mercia did get debated though the fact that it required having John Wulfingas in this room as well as a very passionate speech from Sir Jacob Longe is very disconcerting, after all it wasn't like what was happening wasn't in the news. So the three resolutions concerning Mercia are to be repealed in repealing these resolutions we lift all the restrictions, all the sanctions that nations have in place, this will allow CTO member nations to pursue diplomatic relations with Mercia without risking a breach of a CTO resolution, this is the point of article one. Article two is a statement of acknowledgement, Mercia's system of government has changed and changed quite significantly, there is no longer an elected monarch, there are now two Queen's one for the interior and one for international concerns. There is a new voting system. All of this to our knowledge was done legitimately and so should be recognized and is as such in the resolution. This organisation's concern was never with Mercia as a nation it was always with Rupert Wulfingas and his continued refusal to do as requested by the international community. We have exercised prudence with the various sanctions and measures long enough post referendum to see with our own eyes that Mercia is a different place. All except two of you sat and watched from the sidelines as the situation went downhill. We failed. Don't fail again, do the right thing now, offer friendship and ask for forgiveness." |
