Prince Sebastian involved in horrible car accident

His Cousin Prince Felix von Wateringas explains Sebastian's dire situation to the press

News have reached us that our beloved Prince, Sebastian II was severely injured in a car accident. This morning in Wateringas he crashed into a truck. While the truckdriver is shocked, but phisically healthy Prince Sebastians's life is in danger. Witnesses reported that the Prince's car crossed a red traffic light at rapid speed and crashed into the side of a truck on the crossroad. The police suspects that the brakes of his car failed, but details are still not clear since the burnt out car has to be examined first. Another question is why the Prince was out in Wateringas all by himself, without members of the ducal guard.

Some already speculate that this was not just an accident, although we could really not think of a motive to kill the prince. He is the most popular heir since decades. For the time being our hearts and thoughts are with the ducal family and we hope that Prince Sebastian will get well soon.

Military Youth Camps a Sucess

After 9 months of testing phase, Minister of War, Nikolas von Schuka-Noff presents the military camps for teenagers as a great success. Army inscription rates have rosen by 8% and the recruits are far more competent. Schuka-Noff now plans to pass a legislation that will allow teenagers to take part at these camps at a even younger age.

After this statement in an interview, many nodded in support of the Minister's ideas, but some media was shocked and could not believe what they had just heard. A parents organisation of Herrenbucht condemned this idea on their website and even asked for the Minister to resign. After their posts a couple hundereds of parents protested in front of the Ministry of War. Minister von Schuka-Noff however rests unimpressed, since most of the parents of Herrenbucht prefer a strict militaristic education anyway and would not mind if a government led organisation would help them to educate their children exactly that way

THE PRINCE IS DEAD: MURDER CONFIRMED BY POLICE

Prince Sebastian II died several hours ago, as he succumbed to the wounds of his car accident, which was not an accident. The police now has evidence that the car's brake linea were manipulated. The police has not yet found any trace of the murderer. The whole nation is shocked by this cruel crime. No one can understand the motives behind this treacherous murder. Across the whole country men and women demonstrate their grief in marches across the street. Duke Philipp was not yet able to give a statement, understandably.

Sebastian leaves behind many questions and insecurities. Who was the murderer, what were his motives? But also: who will be the successor to Duke Philipp now. Sebastian's death is not only a personal blow to the ducal family but also a political. There is none of the remaining candidates for the title are as popular as Sebastian was. If Duke Philipp does not find a solution for the problematic succession the monarchy will face harsh times after his death.
However the Duke has some options to do so. One would be to make his daughter Elena successor, as she is the most poular figure of the ducal family after Prince Sebastian. She impersonates the values of Herrenbucht in a way that even some of the most progressive citizens can agree with her while also being beautiful and intelligent. However there is one problem: female successors are illegal. If Duke Philipp plans to change the constitution to make her succession legal the conservative legislature, which is normally very helpful for the Duke, would stand in his way. We might see what the Duke plans to do about the political impact of the murder as soon as he was able to give a statement.

For now we hope that the police can find the murderer and punish him, as he is the real reason for this national crisis.

SMALL FARMS GO BANKRUPT: UNEMPLOYMENT RISING
After the government decided to cut subsidies for farmers since global food price just kept sinking and the money for the subsidies was needed elsewhere, small farms keep closing, with a rising number of bankrupt farmers every month. Most of the farming ground is bought by bigger farms who could produce more proiftable. The farmers who lose their business are often unable to find a new work, since they are too old to join the military or learn a new profession. These farmers now started a national debate about unemployment benefits and early retirement. One of these ex-farmers was interviewed by our newspaper and explained the problems of the group he belongs to

The government never cared about the unemployed. Hell I didn't either. It was no big deal until they cancelled the susbsidies. But now the unemployment quota is rising everyday and people like me can't even afford a flat in the most shabby village of Herrenbucht. Most of us are and have been loyal citizens and now we feel left behind. This has to stop. I want to spend the rest of my life in dignity.

There is also a petition that would advise the members of the Bürgersenat to discuss the matter. This development is surely interesting and we will of course keep you informed about its future

PARLIAMENT SHOCKED: PHILIPP V DEMANDS CHANGE OF SUCCESSION LAW

Herzog Philipp V just called for a constitution change. Now the parliament is by law forced to debate about the Duke's proposal, and the coucil of lords is being assembled to join the debate. Duke Philipp asks to adjust the succession law in a way that makes women and men equal in matters of inheritance. Obviously his goal is to make his daughter crown princess of Herrenbucht. Most of the population favor her, but what Philipp attempts to do here is against the rules of establishment.

According to Ignaz Herford, leader of the Royalist faction of the Bürgersenat, the Duke announced his plans to the faction leaders first, who were all at least surprised. Now that Philipp presented his idea to the public, the factions are under pressure. The Socialists and the Liberals already announced their support for the bill, while the National Liberals have not yet decided what to do. So there are realistic chances of a majority in the Bürgersenat. But one obstacle remains. The Council of Lords will not be easily convinced of this piece of legislation. Our newspaper will offer more precise voting forecasts as soon as the debates have progressed.

MURDER OF PRINCE SEBASTIAN: SUSPECT FOUND

The police arrested Herbert Knipser, a radical republican who is suspected of having commited the murder on Prince Sebastian. Several weeks before the murder he started working in a repair shop that was frequently visited by the Prince when he was travelling incognito. The police is confident that he will confess, since a person like him is probably even proud of the horrible crime he comitted.

The police also assume that Knipser had partners. Probably even a full scale terror organisation. They hope that Knipser will lead them to the co-perpetrator, so the police can completely eliminate the risk of further attacks.
