People's Revolutionary Navy deploys to Great Northern Sea

Destroyers and cruisers of the PRN advance through the Illumic Channel

In a decision that has shocked a significant number of proletarians, the People's Revolutionary Navy has dispatched a Task Force to the Great Northern Sea, says Ivan Toralo, Chief Commissar of the War Commissariat.

This comes as a surprise considering the nation is still suffering as a result of the Gillespira-3R attacks, in which a terrorist group known as "Incen Werize" released said virus in many major Quinntopian cities. Despite humanitarian aid to proletarians by the military, some believe that the People's Revolutionary Navy is showing no regard for Quinntopian proletarians in this latest move. Nevertheless, a majority of proletarians were supportive of the deployment of the Task Force, as the Warsaw Alliance was exuding threatening behaviour at the time.

Toralo says that "it [the Task Force] was originally deployed to break the Warsaw Alliance's blockade, but shall now maintain a defensive position in the Great Northern Sea until diplomatic talks concerning the rising military tension have concluded."

Those diplomatic talks that Comrade Toralo mentioned are reported to be taking place in Ecclesiarreich, a neutral country which has had no involvement in the current military situation which several nations have took part in. The nations attending the talks, including Quinntopia, wish for a cordial conclusion to the talks with a positive result - perhaps a non-aggression pact or an agreement concerning WMDs.

The threat of Gillespira-3R remains in the our minds, despite Quinntopian researchers getting promising results in their search for a cure, as the knowledge that the Warsaw Alliance has possession of Gillespira-3R biological weapons has spread across the Independent Order. Though the Warsaw Alliance has stated that these weapons will not be brought into use, Quinntopia's nuclear arsenal remains online due to the current military tension.

How will this series of events finish? Only time will tell.

Quinntopian football suspended due to G-3R virus

The last match before the outbreak of the virus, Quinntropolis F.C. vs Muntano United, in which Quinntropolis won 3-1

The People's Assembly and the Quinntopian People's Football Committee (QPFC) today ruled that no matches shall be played in any of Quinntopia's four football leagues or domestic cups until the G-3R virus has been eradicted, as said in a joint statement from the two bodies.

The decision has affected the four leagues which operate in Quinntopia, which are as follows:
  • Quinntopian Premier League
  • Quinntopian Championship League
  • Quinntopian Domestic League
  • Quinntopian Conference Premier

In addition to this, the Quinntopian National Cup and Quinntopian National League Cup have also been affected.

The QPFC stated that their reasoning was to "preventing football stadiums from becoming breeding grounds of the virus". QPFC spokesperson Tamid Havel said "if an infected person was to be present at any fixture, the consequences could be catastrophic. The risks are too great to allow Quinntopian football to carry on as normal, even if spectators do wear gas masks."

The decision has proved to be unpopular with die-hard fans, but many more accept that these measures are necessary to prevent infection rates from increasing even further. If that means that Quinntopia will have to go without football for a couple of months, then those who support or accept the decision should be fine. Further outcry from avid football fans is expected, however.

Quinntopia prepares for Rokkenjiman port visit

Sontaporta, the city where the Rokkenjiman submarines shall be arriving

In a statement from Oleg Venedev, Chief Commissar of the Culture Commissariat, it was revealed that Sontaporta will be hosting the port visit of the Rokkenjiman submarines Creeping Death and Hunting Girl.

Sontaporta is one of the first Quinntopian cities to have been declared safe from the G-3R virus, though a cure is still being researched.

Venedev also revealed that a festival would take place during the two days that the Rokkenjiman vessels are stationed in the port, complete with street parades, music, comedy and more, to show only the best of Quinntopian culture and attitudes. The closing ceremony of the festival will be taking place at the docks, where a colossal fireworks display shall be the Quinntopian farewell to the submarines as they leave for a port in Kazarovia.

It was hoped that the People's Revolutionary Navy would have a battleship stationed in the port, but unfortunately all of Quinntopia's battleships are engaged militarily (as is most of the rest of the PRN). This rules out the possibility of there being a meeting of the two navies. Though this is hitherto a rumour, some are saying that the Rokkenjiman submarines will perform a weapons demonstration, but Venedev didn't say anything about this in his statement.

Will the port visit help to further strengthen the already great friendship between Quinntopia and Neo Rokkenjima? We certainly hope so!

People's Revolutionary Navy to expand fleet?

Is a new class of aircraft carriers in the pipelines for the People's Revolutionary Navy?

The People's Revolutionary Navy is looking to expand its 36 vessel-strong armed fleet (excluding landing vessels and patrol boats), rumours say.

Though this has not yet been confirmed by the War Commissariat, talk about the People's Revolutionary Navy adding more ships to the fleet has certainly been rife within the past week. These rumours claim that a hitherto unnamed new class of aircraft carriers is due to be commissioned by the People's Revolutionary Navy, as well as a possible new class of battleship.

These rumours arose because of Quinntopia's increasing number of naval commitments in conflicts such as the Bechensteinian Civil War, deployment to the Great Northern Sea and the Second Patriotic War of Neo Rokkenjima. Quinntopia has no battleships, aircraft carriers, or indeed cruisers, submarines or destroyers to spare due to these commitments, hence the word has arisen that an expansion of the People's Revolutionary Navy is inevitable.

However, some proletarians are questioning the cost of such an expansion, and whether it is really necessary for Quinntopia to increase both the size of its Navy and its number of naval commitments, but are yet to show significant opposition to the rumours.

Watch the seas, because these rumours could be true!

Quinntopians in uproar over Warsaw Alliance's actions at Ecclesiarreich talks

A protester shows his view on the Warsaw Alliance's biological weapons program - this has become one of the most iconic photos of the protests

Quinntopian proletarians took to the streets yesterday in almost every major Quinntopian city in response to the actions of the Warsaw Alliance leading up to and at the Ecclesiarreich diplomatic conference, reports say.

The talks, at which the diplomats from Quinntopia and the rest of the world were literally held hostage, at gunpoint, by the Warsaw Alliance's 'diplomats', have now been called into a recess because the actions of the Warsaw Alliance derailed them so much. This has outraged Quinntopians, who simply want an end to Warsaw aggression and their biological weapons program, and so took to the streets in peaceful protest to send a message to the Warsaw Alliance.

Andrei Petnov, Chief Commissar of the Foreign Affairs Commissariat, was present at the protests and made a speech compiled by him and the other Commissars of the Foreign Affairs Commissariat, condemning the Warsaw Alliance. Here is an excerpt from said speech:

The diplomatic aggression and brinkmanship shown by the Warsaw Alliance must come to an end, along with their biological weapons program. The world has had enough of their shenanigans, and we believe it is high time for them to cease their games. The transgression of the Warsaw Alliance is not only infuriating, but unnecessary and dangerous, as it threatens to plunge our world into war. Currently, the talks in Ecclesiarreich are now a diplomatic stand-off, but it's only a matter of time before there's a spark which ignites the Independent Order, and brings about a brutal conflict.

This is why we hereby officially condemn the Warsaw Alliance for their actions since the start of the outbreak of the G-3R pandemic, right up to the Ecclesiarreich conference, and ask them to cease their biological weapons program as well as their tomfoolery on the diplomatic side of things. Otherwise, the People's Paradise will have no option but to take the action it deems to be necessary be that military, economic or otherwise. You have been warned, Warsaw Alliance.

Is Mt. Vasarov about to erupt?

Mt. Vasarov, the highest point in the Pferkeria region, may be about to erupt

Quinntopian volcanologists have noticed increased seismic activity in the vicinity of the composite volcano Mt. Vasarov, reports from the Quinntopian People's Volcanological Insitute (QPVI) say.

An eruption would mean the evacuation of nearly 100,000 people, including the nearby large towns of Nerova and Yera. The volcano itself, the summit of which stands at 5,821m (19,097 ft) has been dormant for nearly 2,500 years, so any eruption is expected to be Plinian in nature. This poses a hazard to people living in the area, as ash from the volcano would be expected to create major disruption across northern Quinntopia, and maybe other nations, depending on the direction of wind.

Such disruption would be the prevention of air travel, as well as ash reducing visibility on the roads, increasing the risk of accidents. Quinntopians in the area are being encouraged to wear their gas masks (originally given out to slow the spread of G-3R) in the event of an eruption, even if they have been evacuated.

The people living within the area of Mt. Vasarov have been alerted to the possibility of an eruption, as well as the possibility of evacuation of proletarians from the area. At the moment, these proletarians are taking precautions just in case the volcano erupts. Alcaeus Rojas, Chief Commissar of the Interior Affairs Commissariat, has reminded people not to panic and to carry on their lives as normal until the QPVI is certain if or when the volcano will erupt.

At the moment, the QPVI, and the rest of Quinntopia waits anxiously for the news that will answer the question that everyone is begging to know: will Mt. Vasarov erupt?

New PRN vessels launched

PS Inferno shortly after being launched at Sontaporta

The newest vessels of the People's Revolutionary Navy, the Inferno Class Aircraft Carrier and Partisan Class Battleship, have been completed, said a PRN statement made earlier today.

The two vessels, PS Inferno and PS Partisan, have been completed along with one new Liebknecht Class Cruiser and one new Muntano Class Destroyer and Patelone Class Destroyer each. It is hoped that this will give Quinntopia greater ability to respond to international crises, as it will reduce strain on the People's Revolutionary Navy, which has various commitments around the world. It will also provide at least some ships for homeland defence in the event of an attack on Quinntopia.

This expansion comes just as the CSTO-Warsaw Alliance skirmish seems to be coming to an end, with the possibility of the founding of the Covenant of Nations looking ever more likely. This will free up a large number of ships for the PRN to use in other crises, allowing Quinntopia to have its finger firmly on the pulse of world events.

Along with this, rumours have arisen that these new vessels will spark a modernisation of some of the PRN's older ships, though whether these rumours will become true or not remains unclear.

Many Quinntopians have welcomed the construction of the new vessels, claiming that it "asserts Quinntopia's presence on the world stage", and the PRN hopes to keep it that way - this hope is supported by the fact that the ships passed their trials with flying colours, which implies that these ships will be a formidable foe on the seas. The possible modernisation of the rest of the PRN is now the question on everyone's lips.

Will Quinntopia begin to modernise the rest of her fleet? Only time will tell.

Seventh Heaven for Quinntropolis F.C.!

Quinntropolis' F.C. star player, Artyom Mesov, celebrating after scoring his first goal

In the first set of fixtures since Quinntopian football resumed after the G-3R induced hiatus, Quinntropolis F.C. smashed bitter rivals and fellow title challengers Marantha F.C., beating them 7-0.

Artyom Mesov (pictured above), opened the scoring in the 8th minute with an accurate header, from a corner by winger Luca Forzoni. It was Mesov who scored again to put his side 2-0 up in the 19th minute with a great finish from just outside the 18-yard box. 3-0 came soon after, as Quintropolis FC attacking-midfielder Andres Solano was brought down 25 yards from goal, subsequently scoring in the 23rd minute from the resulting freekick. There was a larger gap before Quinntropolis F.C. made it 4-0, with Forzoni placing the ball casually into the bottom left-hand corner in the 1st minute of injury time.

It was clear that Quinntropolis wanted more, and they certainly got more. Even at the beginning of the second half, it was Quinntropolis who looked the better side - the team talk for Marantha F.C. obviously not being effective enough to rally the side. Marantha soon paid for this in the 51st minute, as Solano put home a second from a rebound in the six-yard box.

At this point, some Marantha fans had already had enough, and began to leave the Cityview Stadium in Quinntropolis, waiting for the long trip home to Marantha.

Mesov got a hat-trick when in the 73rd minute, he scored with a scorcher from 30 yards out. It was struck with such power that the 'keeper had no chance of saving it, with defenders simply opting to get out of the way of the shot instead of trying to block it. Quinntropolis midfielder Mikhail Rodriguez then finished the rout with a deftly-executed shot into the top right-hand corner. It would've been 8-0 had Mesov not had a fourth goal ruled offside.

This match was welcome news to fans across Quinntopia, who have been eagerly waiting for the season to return to action. It was especially good for fans of Quinntropolis F.C., whose raucous celebrations lasted long into the night. Cars were tooting horns, people were waving flags on foot, in cars, on buses and on the metro, sounding vuvuzelas, banging drums and of course, drinking to celebrate the historic victory their side had just achieved.

The result, along with the six other fixtures played today, mean the top 5 of the Quinntopian Premier League table looks like this:

A frustrated Oleg Lakov was left wondering why his team wasn't able to win the match

Oleg Lakov has expressed his worries for the Quinntopian national team at the IFFA World Cup after suffering a defeat to Kiylo, reports say.

"It's a shame," said Lakov, "we seemed to have total control of that game, but our finishing let us down, and the Kiylovans eventually made us pay for it. I'm struggling to express just how disappointed I am. That's not to say that we didn't play well - we did, but we just couldn't convert our possession into goals, and that's what I think cost us the game."

"I hope that the team'll rally round for our next fixture and we'll come out with a win. We certainly need one to boost our morale."

Even the presence of Quinntopian star Artyom Mesov couldn't turn the tide of the game, which ended up becoming a frustrating and boring affair, with an increasing number of decisions going against Quinntopia in the latter stages of the match, which left the travelling Quinntopians annoyed and incensed.

Quinntopia now awaits her next fixture.

Comfortable win for Quinntopia

Manager Oleg Lakov celebrates his team's 3-0 victory over United Themata

In completely different circumstances to their previous game, in which they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Kiylo, the Quinntopian national team has rallied round with a comfortable 3-0 victory over United Themata.

Oleg Lakov was delighted that the team was able to recover from their earlier defeat and finally make their possession advantage pay off. "I'm absolutely thrilled for the team. As I said a few days ago, I was worried that our players weren't converting enough chances into goals. But tonight, they played their hearts out, and I think that's why we were able to win so comfortably tonight. I'm sure that Artyom (Mesov) and Mikhail (Rodriguez) will be happy that they've finally got the goals they deserve. I'm thoroughly pleased with the team's performance tonight, and I hope they can continue this form into the next match."

There were three different goalscorers: Rodriguez opened the scoring in the 24th minute with an excellent shot from the edge of the 18-yard box - this was the only goal of the first half. Just two minutes after the second half began, attacking midfielder Matvei Silokov beat two players before casually slotting it past the keeper, with Mesov scoring the final goal in the 84th minute: a header from inside the box, to be precise.

Will the Quinntopian national team be able to use this victory to get another one in their next match? We'll soon find out!

The Quinntopian People's Cosmonautical Committee may be planning to launch the country's first space exploration program since 1976, reports say.

The rumours emerged after a large, unusual object was seen being delivered to the QPCC Headquarters just outside Quinntropolis, which begs the question: is Quinntopia about to head into space?

Quinntopians who believe these rumours are still undecided over the motive behind such a program. Is it a show a power to the other nations in the Independent Order? Or is it trying to foster in an era of greater international co-operation, following on from the establishment of the Covenant of Nations? The QPCC has hitherto refused to comment on any of the rumours, nor what the object actually was, which only deepens the mystery.

Upon hearing the rumours, the general consensus among Quinntopian proletarians is that a space program would be a great way to both show progress and create jobs, therefore claiming that a space program, despite its immense cost, would be beneficial to Quinntopia in more ways than one. The aforementioned reduction in unemployment and the possibility of increased co-operation with neighbours are just some of the supposed benefits.

Other questions that remains, though, are: if Quinntopia heads into space, will other nations follow suit? Will we see a space station built by and for the various nations of the Independent Order? These queries, much like the story itself, is shrouded in uncertainty. We'll bring more news as we get it.

QPCC confirms rumours of space program

The QPCC revealed today that they were initiating a space program after rumours first arose.

With news that Neo Rokkenjima, Kazarovia and Chernobereg are also interested in heading into space, the QPCC is working round-the-clock to try and be the first to return people to space. Anatoly Borkorov, spokesperson for the QPCC said "although the other nations interested in venturing into space are our allies and we look forward to working with them, it would be good to be the first into space, or indeed, be the first to put men on the moon. It's just the sense of achievement that such events will bring that are inspiring us to get a manned flight up there as quickly as possible."

A short test flight has already been conducted, with a second, longer flight due to start in 5-6 weeks. After this second test flight, the QPCC will be sending up manned flights to the moon - within the next 2-7 months the Independent Order may well be seeing Quinntopian space shuttles being launched into space, with the intention of putting a man on the moon.

A lunar lander, dubbed "Progress I-LM" has already been designed. Here is the module, currently in storage until the first manned flight to the moon:

After it was revealed that Rokkenjima had reached the moon, the QPCC was both disappointed not to get to the moon first, but proud of their comrades-in-arms for doing so, rumours say.

The QPCC now says that it is still to send men to the moon to plant a Quinntopian flag, and in a chauvinist joke which has sparked uproar among the feminist community, Anagorov said "Those building materials we're sending up are so we can build a kitchen on the moon, since the first person on the moon was a woman." Some of the male journalists could be heard laughing when he made this statement. Nevertheless, Anagorov has been cautioned for his joke.

He also said "Nobody remembers the people who came second. I'll show you why." He proceeded to do a knock-knock joke to one of the journalists.

The QPCC also revealed that construction will begin on the Independent Cosmonautical Station, and that they are already sending materials up on Progress II, III, IV and V, with further materials to be sent up over the next few months until all the materials needed are delivered, at which point they can be pieced together to create the ICS.

Matvei Silokov celebrates after scoring his second goal

The Quinntopian national football team again won comfortably, this time with a 4-1 trouncing of the collapsing Vicarious.

Oleg Lakov stated "You have to blame the situation in Vicarious for how they performed today. They're going to be demoralised since their country is collapsing." However, he also praised his team's efforts on getting their second consecutive win, claiming that high morale and teamwork were carrying the team forward. He also stated that he hoped that Quinntopia's next match against struggling Albanor, will bear a similar scoreline.

The team, which now lies 3rd in Group 1, anticipates their next fixture.

Work begins on Independent Cosmonautical Station

Quinntopian cosmonauts assembling part of the ICS

In response to the Rokkenjiman success in landing on the moon, and with materials being sent up almost every other day, Quinntopian cosmonauts have begun work of the ICS, QPCC reports say.

The cosmonauts have been encouraged to work quickly to ensure that the ICS is operational as soon as possible - though it is predicted to be completely constructed within the year, it is likely to be 12-15 months before the ICS is fully operational. It will be home to 15 Quinntopian cosmonauts, who will perform experiments to see how things behave in space, and compare these to what happens on Earth.

However, there are concerns that the stress being exerted on the space shuttles may soon result in an accident, but the QPCC remains adamant that it will complete the ICS within the coming months.

The excitement is raised yet further by the news that the Rokkenjimans will be building a space station of their own: Skylab 1. However, Anatoly Borkorov, spokesperson for the QPCC stated "we are exploring the possibility of proposing to the Rokkenjimans a combination of our two projects, to form either two ordinary-sized internationally-used stations, or one large one. We also hope to build on the Rokkenjiman space-launch technology for launching both manned craft and satellites into the far reaches of our solar system and beyond."

The whole of Quinntopia, and perhaps the whole world, waits eagerly to see the completion of both the ICS and Skylab 1.

Quinntopian cosmonauts land on the moon

Cosmonaut Iosif Maratov, the second Quinntopian on the moon, takes his first step onto the moon

In a televised event witnessed by billions, Quinntopian cosmonauts have finally landed on the surface of the moon.

Nikita Anagorov (not pictured) was the first Quinntopian to step foot onto the moon, with Iosif Maratov being the second. The two collected samples of rocks, dust and other such things from the surface of the moon, before planting a large Quinntopian flag for the cameras. Both raised a communist salute to the flag after implanting it. The cosmonauts remain on the moon with their Lunar Rover, as the pair hope to become the first people to circumnavigate the moon. On their journey, both Anagorov and Maratov will continue to collect samples, which will be analysed by the QPCC upon their return.

Their journey will be complete in a few days, and they will be taking the cameras with them, so that the world can see the full surface of the moon, and rather less importantly, their voyage will probably dispel the sinister rumours about what lies on the dark side of the moon.

Interior Affairs Commissariat issues warning about the OrderMark

A rather inaccurate representation of the OrderMark

Alcaeus Rojas, Chief Commissar of the Interior Affairs Commissariat, today issued a warning about the OrderMark, a popular new form of digital currency that is spreading across the Independent Order.

All Quinntopians received this letter, upon which was the aforementioned warning from Rojas himself. It warned against becoming reliant on the currency, and told of the consequences of using the OrderMark on both individuals and the rest of the nation. It also recommended that those who use the OrderMark should still keep some material Communist Credits saved away in case something were to go wrong with the OrderMark.

The currency itself became popular as it provided an easy way to purchase goods online at excellent exchange rates, with 1 OrderMark being equivalent to ER$40. Nevertheless, economists warn that this boom could also become a bust should more people become reliant on the digital currency. This gave the Interior Affairs Commissariat further grounds for advising against use of the OrderMark.

The Commissariat did accept that not all would listen to the advice it released, but hopes that the majority of Quinntopians will heed the advice.

Quinntopian cosmonauts on moon nearing end of voyage

Cosmonaut Nikita Anagorov just after collecting samples of moon rock

With most of the world watching their circumnavigation of the moon, Quinntopian cosmonauts Nikita Anagorov and Iosif Maratov are close to the end of their voyage around the moon.

On the way, the cameras have picked up amazing shots of craters, rocks, dust and other such things, even getting some footage of a small meteorite striking the surface of the moon. This has now been collected by the two cosmonauts and is expected to be worth millions of Communist Credits. This meteorite will be analysed by QPCC scientists who will discern what elements the meteorite is comprised of, as well as where it may have come from. In addition to this, the two also had a kick-about on the moon, with both probably unsurprising worried that one would try to show off and subsequently kick the ball into orbit!

On a serious note, Comrade Anagorov has stated that his and Maratov's journey around the moon has been "nothing short of overwhelming" - something proved by their first Earthrise, of which they took a photo:

In other space news, a rendezvous of the shuttles Progress VI and Soluna IX has been scheduled - the first such event in human history. Both the ISEA and the QPCC are bursting with excitement over the meeting, and hope that it will further cement the friendship between Quinntopia and Rokkenjima.

The voyage of Anagorov and Maratov is predicted to finish tomorrow. They have collected hundreds of samples along their way and are set to give humanity a much greater knowledge of the moon. The world looks forward to their return.

Quinntopian cosmonauts return

Following their circumnavigation of the moon (the first time in human history that such a thing has been done), cosmonauts Nikita Anagorov and Iosif Maratov have returned to Mundus after being on the moon for just over a week.

Hundreds of millions watched the televised landing of the cosmonauts' re-entry pod at around 8:00am Quinntopian Standard Time. Anagorov and Maratov have been able to bring back all of the samples they collected, as well as the meteorite they collected soon after it had struck the surface of the moon. They are currently on their way to QPCC Headquarters just outside Quinntropolis, where the scientists are waiting. Once delivered, every single sample will be analysed. These analyses should give humanity a much greater understanding of the moon, allowing nations to improve landing craft to be more suited to landing on the surface of the moon.

Once the results of the analyses have come through, the QPCC scientists will release the information to the world to share out the knowledge that the samples bring.

Both cosmonauts will be making televised speeches to the whole of Communist Quinntopia in a few days to tell of their experiences, most of which have been covered by the cameras they took with them on their voyage around the moon. It is rumoured that the two will also be awarded the Order of the Hammer and Sickle, the highest civilian award for outstanding service to Quinntopia. Most Quinntopians feel the cosmonauts would be worthy of receiving the award, since they were, after all, the first Quinntopians on the moon, and the first people to circumnavigate the moon.

The QPCC has stated that there will be 4 more launches to the moon, with most launches after that being transport for cosmonauts heading up to work on the Independent Cosmonautical Station once it is complete.

Albanor holds Quinntopia to a draw

Despite an early goal from Matvei Silokov, Quinntopia was held to a surprise 1-1 draw today by the struggling Albanor.

Quinntopia remains third in Group 1, but that may change as her next match is against the high-flying, and hitherto undefeated Elpidia. Nevertheless, Elpidia are the only team to have scored more goals than Quinntopia (and only by a small margin of 2 goals, as well), and have only conceded one less goal than Quinntopia so far. Both teams go into the fixture on the back of a draw, so it will be a case of who can rally round the best to determine who will win.

Elpidia will be wanting either a win or a draw to both extend their unbeaten run to 5 games and keep them cemented at the top, whereas Quinntopia will be wanting a victory, knowing that they only need to win by a two-goal margin, and hope that Kiylo draws or loses to KaiserAdolf, to go top of the group. In contrast, if Quinntopia loses or draws, they risk slipping down to fifth if both Vicarious and KaiserAdolf win their next match. The Quinntopia vs. Elpidia match is expected to be a cracker.

Quinntopia goes top!

Slava Lagunov celebrates his first goal of the competition

Quinntopia has gone top of Group 1 in the IFFA World Cup on goal difference after trouncing Elpidia 4-0 in a thrilling encounter which delighted Quinntopian fans.

This marked Elpidia's first defeat in the competition, and the first time Quinntopia has been top of Group 1. Because of the scoreline, Quinntopia is now the second-highest scoring team in the World Cup with 12 goals, with only Chernobereg scoring more goals than Quinntopia, with 14 goals. Chernobereg are also the only team that have more points than Quinntopia, with 13 points compared to Quinntopia's 10.

Manager Oleg Lakov said afterwards that he was actually surprised that Quinntopia's winning margin was so large, adding that he thought that the match would've been much closer. Nevertheless, he had this to say at the post-match press conference:

"I am surprised that we've won by four goals - I really thought it would've been closer. However, I am elated by the team's clinical finishing tonight and the way they played overall was excellent, though their teamwork really helped us to keep possession. I feel it's more astonishing as we managed to beat Elpidia, who were unbeaten up until now, but I felt they were still good tonight. The whole team is buzzing, knowing that this win has put them top of the group, albeit on goal difference.

We've got another quite difficult fixture next against KaiserAdolf, who we should be able to beat if we play like we did tonight. However, the lads are up for it."

As Lakov stated, Quinntopia's next fixture is against KaiserAdolf, who lie in third place after a close 3-2 victory over Kiylo. A win would keep Quinntopia top of the group if Elpidia draws or loses their next game, which is against United Themata, who are yet to win a match, and who currently prop up the rest of Group 1. Elpidia would have to hope that Quinntopia draws or loses and that they win by about 5 or 6 goals to go back to the top of the group.

Quinntopians shocked by defeat

In a defeat which has shocked many fans, Quinntopia finished the group stage in 3rd, losing the top spot to KaiserAdolf, who defeated Quinntopia 2-0 earlier today.

Despite the Quinntopian team's excellence in the first half, they were not able to convert their chances into goals because of a sterling performance from the KaiserAdolf 'keeper. KaiserAdolf ultimately made Quinntopia pay for their profligacy in front of goal, putting the ball past Quinntopia's 'keeper Arkadiy Sonetov twice.

However, there was a heated argument on the touchline between Oleg Lakov and KaiserAdolf's manager after a particularly rash challenge on Mikhail Rodriguez, in which Lakov hurled multiple profanities at his counterpart, particularly one sentence caught on camera, in which Lakov called his opponent a "stupid f**king b*****d" and a "cheating c**t". Lakov may face disciplinary action from both the Quinntopian FA and IFFA officials for his foul-mouthed rant.

Despite the downsides, Quinntopia have qualified for the Quarter Finals of the World Cup. They are to play Elpidia again, hoping for a repeat of their last encounter in which Quinntopia thrashed Elpidia 4-0. If Quinntopia wins in the Quarter Final, they face the possibility of playing KaiserAdolf or Kiylo - the only two teams to defeat Quinntopia so far, so Quinntopia has quite the job to do if they are to progress further.

Fans are anticipating the rapidly-approaching Quarter Finals. As always, we'll have a post-match report of that match.

Quinntopia ready for war

Quinntopian tanks storm across Revolution Square in Quinntropolis during a recent military parade

With tensions between the CSTO, the League of Allied Republics and the Warsaw Alliance rising once again, Communist Quinntopia has been put on a war footing.

The crisis has escalated in many areas. Themata, Great Jonathania and Albanor have entered into an alliance dubbed the "League of Allied Republics". Tytor is currently undergoing a coup, and with Themata joining the Warsaw Alliance, a world war seems to be increasingly likely.

A huge majority of Commissars and Chief Commissars are hopeful of a peaceful resolution to the crisis - among these are Ivan Toralo, Andrei Petnov, and Matthew Vinage, Chief Commissar of the People's Assembly. Neverthless, because of the rising tension across the Independent Order, Toralo stated the Quinntopia is readying herself for war just so that she is prepared should the worst occur.

Task Force Hammer has reportedly been deployed but we are not sure where to. It will likely be used as a deterrent to the LoAR.

QUINNTOPIA AT WAR

Various elements of the People's Revolutionary Army starting their long journey to Themata

The People's Paradise of Communist Quinntopia is officially at war with the United Themata Republic.

Reports emerged today that Quinntopia had mobilised elements of both the People's Revolutionary Army and the People's Revolutionary Navy in a bid to topple the corporocratic regime currently running Themata. It is believed that Quinntopia will be supporting the rebels as they allegedly fight for the people of Themata and not for corporations, an extremely popular view in Quinntopia. This has led to widespread support for the Thematan rebels across Quinntopia. Whether Quinntopia will use this to install a communist government in Themata remains unclear, but it is clear that Quinntopia wants to oust Themata's corporocratic government.

Divisions of the People's Revolutionary Army and a sizeable Task Force of the People's Revolutionary Navy were deployed towards earlier today, but CQBS cannot reveal their whereabouts or their planned routes in the interests of the safety of those forces. Rumour has it that the Rokkenjimans are also involved in the operation, but Ivan Toralo, Chief Commissar of the War Commissariat, has refused to comment on whether Rokkenjima is part of the conflict.

Quinntopia's war preparations certainly seem to have paid off as the conflict is expected to come at a cost - hopefully not at the cost of Quinntopian lives and blood. The People's Revolutionary Armed Forces are confident of achieving a quick victory over the corporocratic regime of Themata, and will send reports to CQBS about the progress of Quinntopia's military in Themata over the coming weeks.

Independent Cosmonautical Station becomes operational

After some minor problems with construction, the Independent Cosmonautical Station has become operational just 4 months after being completed.

The news that the ICS is now operational has prompted great celebration in Quinntopia, with colossal street parties going on in almost every village, town and city. This is a clear sign that Quinntopia's proletarians are jubilant at the completion of the ICS. Alcaeus Rojas, Chief Commissar of the Interior Affairs Commissariat, said that the occasion was "a history-changing day for Quinntopia and the world." He went on to give his congratulations to the people who had worked tirelessly to build the ICS.

Anatoly Borkorov, spokesperson for the QPCC, had this to say at the press conference in which the news was announced:

"I am absolutely delighted that the Independent Cosmonautical Station is finally complete, despite the problems that made the construction process more time-consuming. Quinntopia can take great pride in the fact that the ICS is one of the first, if not the first, operation space station in human history. The ICS will be home to 15 Quinntopian cosmonauts, who will use it as a micro-gravity to zero-gravity research laboratory. Research will include experiments in human biology, physics, astronomy and spacecraft systems, as well as meteorology. This will give humanity a great understanding of space, and perhaps lead to the development of technology that will allow humans to occupy space permanently.

"Nevertheless, the QPCC, and the rest of Quinntopia, I'm sure, looks forward to the completion of Skylab 1, the space station of our Rokkenjiman comrades, and hopes that cosmonauts from both Quinntopia and Rokkenjima, in addition to those from the rest of the world, can work together on both stations for the betterment of international relations."

The station will also be capable of launching 4 astronauts into sub-space orbit, as well as providing a site for launching Quinntopian satellites into the far reaches of the Solar System and beyond. The ICS is expected to remain in orbit for a period of at least 15-20 years.

QPCC to launch new space telescope

The Liberation Space Telescope being constructed in the QPCC's Quinntropolis HQ

The Quinntopian People's Cosmonautical Committee announced today that they will be launching an orbital space telescope, dubbed the Liberation Space Telescope, at some point in the next few months.

The QPCC claims that Liberation will provide unparalleled images of the far reaches of our universe, at least further away than the people of Mundus have seen before. They also claim that Liberation "utilises the latest technology, so it can tell the rate at which the universe is expanding, as well as telling us how far away, in light years, the images it collects are from Mundus." This is yet another exciting development in the space frontier for not only Quinntopia, but the world.

Liberation is expected to be operational in the next 4-6 months, after construction and testing are complete. It will send its images to the Sickle Space Centre (the QPCC's HQ, located just outside Quinntropolis) where they will be analysed, and the knowledge that the QPCC physicists gain from said images will be shared with both other Quinntopian scientists and the rest of the world.

Despite the unrest in the Independent Order, with the Thematan War and other conflicts still ongoing, the QPCC believes that the deployment of Liberation will be completed without any major problems. Just in case of any attempts to sabotage the launch of Progress XIII (the shuttle which will be taking the Liberation telescope up into orbit), there will be increased ground and air patrols around the launch site, as well as a naval force stationed in Quinntopia Bay as a first line of defence.

So, will Liberation begin a new era in human space exploration? The QPCC tells us so, but we cannot be sure until the launch, which CQBS will bring to you live on Channel 101 on your TV. Watch this space!

Matthew Vinage issues response to controversial USR Pravda article

Matthew Vinage issuing his statement to Quinntopian journalists and reporters

Earlier today, Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie, the Chief Commissar of the People's Assembly, issued a statement on the controversial USR Pravda article released earlier this week.

Comrade Vinage-Sovetskie stated that the article was "absurd" and "an affront to the nations of the CSTO", adding that he felt it was "nothing but propaganda designed to further wrongly turn the citizens of the USR against the CSTO and needlessly attempting to escalate the Thematan conflict by turning it into a world war between the CSTO and the Warsaw Alliance", something which both sides came near to after the outbreak of the Gillespira-3R virus. He also referred to the allegations that murder was legal in Chernobereg as "misinformed, laughable and completely preposterous".

He went on to say: "I advise Stalin against any knee-jerk decisions that would only escalate the conflict in Themata, and should the USR or other Warsaw states declare war on the CSTO, it would be clear that they have no interest in maintaining order in the nations of the world. They would face major backlash from the Covenant of Nations. The invasion of Themata is not for CSTO gain - it is merely an attempt to topple the corrupt bourgeoisie regime that is abusing the proletarians of Themata. I urge Chairman Stalin to stay out of the conflict, even if his people protest against neutrality."

He also condemned the Pravda's statements describing the CSTO as "fascist". Comrade Vinage stated "In no way is the CSTO fascist - we are democratic, and allow our people to have decent civil rights and political freedoms. We also do not persecute groups because of their race, religion, culture or otherwise. The CSTO is anything but fascist. If anyone is fascist, it is Chairman Stalin, as he rules his country with an iron fist, and casts shame over the name of communism - he has abandoned the principles of the (Communist) Manifesto, as he has turned the USR into a corrupt personal dictatorship, whereas the Manifesto states that the proletarians should rule, like they do in Quinntopia."

While the majority of the People's Revolutionary Navy is engaged in the Thematan conflict, the vessels that are stationed in Quinntopia have been put on alert in case of any USR attacks. The People's Revolutionary Army and People's Revolutionary Air Force have also been put on alert for the same reason, so that Quinntopia is amply prepared for any USR attacks. Comrade Vinage also urged Quinntopia's allies in the CSTO to echo his sentiments and the sentiments of the Lord High Steward of Rokkenjima, as well as imploring the members of the Covenant of Nations to condemn any escalation of the conflict by the USR.

So, will the diplomatic tension lead to a world war? Or will it peter out after the end of the Thematan conflict? Only time will tell.

Liberation Space Telescope enters operation

In another QPCC press conference, QPCC spokesperson Anatoly Borkorov revealed that the Liberation Space Telescope had become operational after the successful launch of Progress XIII.

He stated, in addition to its primary duty of identifying the universe's rate of expansion, that Liberation was fitted with cameras that face Mundus, so that it can work in tandem with the ICS in its research of meteorology, as said cameras will collect images of weather patterns on Mundus, allowing the cosmonauts on the ICS and the analysts on the ground to have a better understanding of Mundus' meteorology, thus allowing the countries of the world to better predict the weather.

Comrade Borkorov also said "the Liberation Space Telescope shall be the herald of a new era of space exploration, and Quinntopians can take extreme pride in the fact that their country has been, is, and will be one of the countries at the forefront of this new era. This is a great day for Quinntopia, though the rest of the world can also celebrate as this is another history-making event for humanity, and we shall all benefit from it."

Meanwhile, Liberation has already been sending in pictures of the far reaches of our universe to the Sickle Space Centre (SSC), and has indicated that the universe is indeed expanding due to the identification of "red-shift". This knowledge has already been shared with many of the world's leading scientific and space-exploring organisations. The Quinntopian physicists are yet to find the rate of the expansion of the universe, but if they do, it is likely that this information will also be shared.

Will the Liberation Space Telescope live up to its expectations? Early indicators suggest so. More news on Liberation as we get it.

Quinntopia vows to support Thematan rebels

Vinage-Sovetskie: "We cannot condemn the Thematan people to the barbarism of the bourgeoisie"

In a speech from the New Hall of the People, Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie, Chief Commissar of the People's Assembly, announced that Communist Quinntopia would begin sending aid to the Liberal Communist Party of Themata, as well as Liberty.

This announcement follows a significant declaration of aid by Rokkenjima towards the same groups. Comrade Vinage-Sovetskie also announced that Quinntopia would be sending C₡5,000,000,000 (about $1,215,450,810.71) to the Thematan rebels - 50% (C₡2,500,000,000 or $607,725,405.36) to the Liberal Communist Party, and the other 50% to Liberty. This is so the two groups are able to buy the weapons and other equipment they need to successfully topple the corporatocratic regime. This financial package may also help towards keeping the Thematan economy ticking over when the Liberal Communist Party begins rebuilding the country (if they are successful, that is).

Along with the financial package, Comrade Vinage-Sovetskie also stated that Quinntopia would be offering QT-34 heavy tanks, G-33 medium tanks, QT-22 All-Terrain Troop Transports, QA-15 Self-Propelled Artillery, and CQ-98 "Revolutionary" and TA-15 "Proletarian" assault rifles to both rebel factions to aid their revolution against the bourgeoisie regime. This equipment is likely to be smuggled into Themata through rebel-controlled areas, or dropped into rebel-controlled areas by aircraft.

Furthermore, the People's Paradise of Communist Quinntopia has officially recognised the Liberal Communist Party as the legitimate government of Themata, heeding the Rokkenjiman request to her CSTO comrades to do so. Comrade Vinage-Sovetskie stated "The People's Paradise of Communist Quinntopia hereby recognises the Liberal Communist Party as the legitimate government of Themata. They have chosen these people as their comrades, their government, their liberators. We cannot condemn the Thematan people to the barbarism of the bourgeoisie. They must be emancipated - that is why we are sending this aid."

The aforementioned declarations come after a victory for the People's Revolutionary Army in the Seabird Mountains, where a massive aerial bombardment forced the Thematans to retreat. These forces have not been eliminated, but their retreat has allowed the PRA to advance. It is hoped that this part of the invasion force will soon rendezvous with Thematan rebels to both supply the rebels so they can more effectively fight the regime, and to gain additional support for the Quinntopian invasion.

So, what will this aid mean for the conflict? Will the rebels emerge victorious?

Quinntopia and Rokkenjima enter open border agreement

A Quinntopian passport - the only thing Quinntopians will have to produce when going on holiday to Rokkenjima

A statement from the Foreign Affairs Commissariat earlier today announced that Communist Quinntopia and Rokkenjima had entered into an open border agreement.

According to the Chief Commissar of the Foreign Affairs Commissariat, Andrei Petnov, the open border policy "is a necessary step towards further cementing the ties between Quinntopia and Rokkenjima, as it is a demonstration of mutual trust." He also stated that "it is not only beneficial for Quinntopian-Rokkenjiman relations, but it is also more practical on a daily basis, as it removes the hassle of airport security and applying for visas. The agreement will make it much easier for Quinntopians and Rokkenjimans to travel between the two countries."

The open border policy means that tourists from Quinntopia and Rokkenjima will only need to produce their passport when travelling between the two countries - they do not have to apply for tourist visas, and will be met with empty security desks upon arrival. Reports say that new passport booths for Rokkenjimans are already being installed in airports across Quinntopia, meaning there are now three different types of passport booth in use: Quinntopian, Rokkenjiman, and All Other Nations.

Inclusion in the open border policy has also been offered to nations which enjoy good relations with Quinntopia and/or Rokkenjima, so the amount of countries under the open border umbrella is likely to increase in the future.

Quinntopia issues response to ANN's anti-communist article

After a recent controversial article released by the Albanor News Network, the People's Government of the People's Paradise of Communist Quinntopia has released a statement, delivered by Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie today, denouncing the article as "propaganda".

Comrade Vinage-Sovetskie had this to say:

"While the People's Paradise of Communist Quinntopia has no quarrel with Albanor, we must declare our shock and dismay at the recent article released by the Albanor News Network. It is not journalism: it is merely ridiculous, scaremongering, anti-communist propaganda which wrongly intends to turn the world against Quinntopia.

While they have good reason to believe we are trying to spread our influence in southern Ardia, we shall state now that these claims are false. Quinntopia would be glad to see another communist nation in Ardia, but we are not using the invasion as an opportunity to spread our own influence, and we do not want Themata to become a Quinntopian satellite state. We would see a communist Themata as a valuable ally, but we wouldn't try and exert our influence on them.

The Albanor News Network's claims about communism appeared to be based on ridiculous tales about "communist" states which existed earlier in history, though these nations were not truly communist at all - for example, there technically shouldn't be one sole leader in a communist nation. These "leaders" veered away from the principles of the (Communist) Manifesto and tarnished the reputation of communism. Communism is not the bastion of hatred and atrocities that capitalists see it as. Why Albanor sees communism as a threat is unclear to us.

Furthermore, they claim that 'capitalism is the only hope for a lasting peace in Themata'. Well, what about all of the capitalist wars fought in the past, fuelled by the greed of those in charge, who wanted to claim another people's resources as their own? Proclaiming capitalism as the beacon for peace in the Independent Order is nothing but downright hypocrisy. However, we do believe that democracy is one way forward, with Quinntopia being fairly democratic itself.

The People's Paradise must also warn Albanor against sending shipments of military hardware to unknown groups in Themata, as we cannot risk the hardware falling to the hands of the corrupt, corporatocratic, bourgeoisie regime, for they would use it to further their brutality towards Thematan proletarians. Although we would like to avoid hostilities with Albanor, the People's Revolutionary Navy and People's Revolutionary Air Force will do everything in their power to stop shipments of weapons being sent to unknown rebel groups in Themata."

Other members of the People's Government have stated that they were appalled by such "misleading propaganda intending to plunge the world into an unjust war against communism", as put by one Commissar. The article has also been widely condemned by most other Quinntopians, who accuse ANN of "launching a hate campaign against Quinntopia and communism" and "fabricating rumours to destroy Quinntopia's international relations and reputation".

This is the second time Quinntopia has issued a response to a controversial media article, the first being when the USR Pravda released propaganda which seemed to be a smear article directed towards Chernobereg. It is clear that Quinntopia is ready to stand up for itself and its comrades in the CSTO when untruths are spread about them in the media.

Quinntopia remains anxious as tensions seem to be increasing. Will they simmer down? Or will they boil over? Only time will tell.

Quinntopians mourn for Eliot Quin

Shocked by the death of major Thematan revolutionary Eliot Quin, Quinntopians across the nation mourned for his death. Memorial services took place in every major Quinntopian city, eyewitness accounts say.

Quin, seen as the figurehead of the LCP/Liberty coalition that is still rebelling against the Thematan regime, died a few days ago after sustaining what International Revolution Radio (the LCP/Liberty news service) described as "extreme wounds untreatable without the proper training and equipment". This was made all the more worse by the fact that he was frozen by the blizzard which was taking place at the time of his death.

Eliot Quin's death is expected to deal a crushing blow to the ambitions of the LCP/Liberty coalition, as morale has quickly shattered after rebels heard news of his death. This puts the rebels more on a par with the regime, whose troops are also demoralised due to the knowledge that their regime is bankrupt and on the brink of collapse. The People's Revolutionary Army stated that they would now attempt to give the LCP/Liberty rebels as much support as possible so that they are able to fulfil their ambitions of toppling the corporatocracy in charge of Themata.

Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie made a speech at the Quinntropolis memorial service, stating that Quin was "a hero of both the Thematan people, and even communism itself," adding "his bravery and heroism in the face of daunting odds demands respect." Comrade Vinage also said that "Quinntopia must now do everything in her power to bring the LCP/Liberty coalition to power in Themata, for the good of the proletarians of Themata."

Andrei Petnov stated that "Quin's death gives the rebels and the nations supporting them all the more reason to work towards overthrowing the bourgeoisie regime running Themata, as they have tried to silence the voice of the Thematan people." Other Commissars and Chief Commissars have made similar statements.

Despite all of the tragedy and commotion, one question remains: what will the consequences of Quin's death be?

Themata close to defeat

Quinntopian QT-34 tanks advance through a small mountain town in Sunlit

The latest reports from the War Commissariat, released a couple of days ago, suggest that the United Themata Republic is on the brink of defeat.

Following heavy snow and blizzards across most of Themata, regime forces appeared to succumb to attrition and are now nearing collapse and capitulation. Quinntopian forces have enjoyed success on both the Sunlit and Seabird fronts. In the former, the PRA is yet to encounter resistance, and in the latter, huge bombardments by land-based and naval artillery, as well as aerial bombardments by bombers, combined with the extreme conditions, have forced the regime's forces to retreat. With anti-regime forces advancing on all fronts, the future looks bleak for the bourgeoisie regime of the United Themata Republic.

The regime is expected to collapse soon, with the Novincians attacking in the north and Quinntopia invading the west and south of the country. New attacks are on the cards, and it is believed that these attacks will deal the final crushing blow to the corporatocracy, after which either the LCP/Liberty coalition or a national unity government will be installed. There is still dispute over whether the LCP/Liberty coalition (the most popular rebel group) should take control of Themata, or whether a national unity government should be established to avoid arguments between different political groups.

As stated in Quinntopia's response to the ANN's anti-communist article, Quinntopia would like to see the LCP/Liberty coalition come to power in Themata, but the People's Paradise still refutes claims that it is only involved in the Thematan conflict so it can install a communist government. With the death of Eliot Quin, the LCP/Liberty revolution has been sucker-punched, but the People's Revolutionary Army has vowed to offer support to any LCP/Liberty rebels they come across.

With all of the invasions from different directions, the bankruptcy of the corporatocracy, the attrition caused by the weather, as well as widespread support for Thematan rebel groups, the people of the world can only wonder one thing: when will the Thematan regime fall?

Quinntopia imposes restrictions on fishing to protect fish stocks

The restrictions mean that trying to catch as many fish as possible, like the crew of this vessel, will become a thing of the past

After a startling study by the University of Sturmvir in Ecclesiarreich claimed that the Independent Order's fish stocks would become critically depleted within the next 5 years, Communist Quinntopia has taken strict preventive action.

The Interior Affairs Commissariat announced that it would be "implementing strict regulations on fishing in Quinntopian waters". These regulations include fishing quotas, limits on the size of nets, encouraging the use of "fish farms", and also completely banning the fishing of endangered fish. It is hoped that these regulations will help to slow the rapid depletion of the world's fish stocks.

Shortly after Rokkenjima announced that it would be hosting a "Sustainable Fishing Conference" to provide an international forum for various nations to come up with a solution to the problem, the Foreign Affairs Commissariat told the world that Silvio Mihaylov, Chief Commissar of the Industry Commissariat, would be representing the People's Paradise at the SFC, as well as claiming that Quinntopia is "devoted to solving this problem and preventing overfishing from causing irreparable damage to the fish stocks of the Independent Order," and that Quinntopia hopes to be a "leading force" in said endeavour. Comrade Mihaylov has stated that he "looks forward to working with Quinntopia's comrade nations to solve the problem of overfishing".

Meanwhile, Quinntopia has also proposed various other ideas, such as amending the Fair Seas Concordat to cover the problem of overfishing or getting the Covenant of Nations to draft some sort of resolution to impose regulations and/or restrictions on fishing in the Independent Order. Furthermore, proletarians have been encouraged to cut back on seafood, opting for a diet orientated more towards land-based foodstuffs (e.g. beef, chicken, fruit, vegetables etc).

Will the Independent Order be able to solve the problem of overfishing, or will we reach a point where our fish stocks run out completely?

People's Government dismisses latest USR Pravda article as propaganda

Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie: "We still need to keep a close eye on the USR"

After the release of another controversial USR Pravda article, Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie issued a statement on behalf of the People's Government on national TV in which the article in question was dismissed as "shameful propaganda".

Comrade Vinage-Sovetskie stated "it is clear that the Pravda is trying to force people to fear and bow down to the USR by proclaiming military might and massive success in production, whereas in reality it is nothing more than a scaremongering tactic." However, he did go onto add "though these claims are likely to be false, we still need to keep a close eye on the USR." Whether this means monitoring the nation with drones, spy planes or satellites remains unclear, though one thing is for certain: the USR is raising international tension once again.

He went on to say he was "getting tired of multiple respected national news services stooping to the level of rumour-spreading tabloids". He appears to have good grounds for saying this, as this latest Pravda article joins a developing line of controversial articles, namely the previous Pravda article and the Albanor News Network's recent anti-communist report. Protests against the aforementioned controversial news reports have sparked peaceful protests in a few major Quinntopian cities, including (but not limited to) Quinntropolis, Marantha and Proletariat City.

So, what will this latest development mean for Quinntopia and her comrades? Will the CSTO-Warsaw "cold war" rekindle once again?

Quinntopia announces it is "fed up" with propaganda

After the release of another controversial news report, this time released by the Albanor News Network on behalf of their President, Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie presented Quinntopia's strongly-worded statement, which denounced the propaganda of multiple news services, to a packed New Hall of the People.

Here is the official transcript of the statement for those who missed it:

"After the release of the Albanoran President's condemnation of the CSTO, the People's Paradise deems it necessary to state that we are fed up with the propaganda that has been circulating recently.

We acknowledge the Albanoran President's view, but that does not mean with have to agree with it. The main reason for this is the President's ludicrous view of communism. He describes communists as, and I quote: 'maniacs' and 'savage butchers' - this view is utterly farcical. Once again, the claims of the President and the Albanor News Network are totally misinformed, as they base their assumptions of communism off of past examples of nations which killed millions of their people whilst claiming to be communist, when they weren't truly communist at all.

We've had enough with the ridiculous anti-communist and anti-CSTO reports. It seems to be the same people pumping out such reports, too: the Albanor News Network and the USR Pravda. Their scaremongering "news" reports only serve to increase international tension and prevent the possibility of peace in our world.

The President has also condemned the CSTO's decision to establish a no-fly zone and disallow access to unapproved ships. Quinntopia shall rebuff this condemnation, with good reason: the capitalists which the Albanorans seem to uphold as gods are the true butchers of the Thematan people. They have committed far worse atrocities than any Thematan communists ever have. These people do not want an oppressive bourgeoisie regime to remain in power. The majority of Thematan proletarians have chosen the LCP/Liberty coalition as their liberators, in the hope that they can lead Themata to a better future, and if Albanor truly believes in freedom, then they would allow things to take their course instead of hindering the Thematan people's efforts to free themselves from oppression.

Whilst the continuous flow of propaganda does not warrant military actions against the nations responsible, Quinntopia will be severing any and all ties that we have with both the USR and Albanor. They are not welcome to enjoy ties with us if they continue to slander our people and our comrades.

That is all."

It appears that Quinntopia is taking an increasingly strict stance against anti-communist and anti-CSTO propaganda, the amount of which seems to have been increasing over the past few weeks.

So, what will this mean for international relations? Could a world war be on the horizon? Or, as usual, are countries just throwing threats at each other without actually making any significant moves?

People's Revolutionary Navy plans further expansion of fleet

The plans mean that the size of the PRN will increase to about 150 vessels (excluding landing craft/troop transports)

Ivan Toralo, Chief Commissar of the War Commissariat, revealed today that the People's Revolutionary Navy will be further expanding the size of its fleet.

The plans are to add 3 more battleships (1 Quinntopia Class, 2 Partisan Class), 10 destroyers (4 Isidrio Class, 4 Muntano Class, 2 Patelone Class), 5 submarines (3 Sontaporta Class, 2 Sicalona Class), another Inferno Class aircraft carrier and another Sturgeon Class assault vessel. There will also be a new class of cruiser built, which will make up 4 of 8 new cruisers, the rest being 2 new Marantha Class and Liebknecht Class cruisers each. This new class of cruiser will be dubbed the "Hades Class".

Comrade Toralo stated that the expansions were planned to "allow the People's Revolutionary Navy to respond quickly and effectively to any incident" and to "maintain the competitiveness of the People's Revolutionary Navy", though some people think that the expansion of the PRN has been planned so that it can rival the size of the Imperial Rokkenjiman Navy. Toralo has hitherto denied these claims as the real motive behind the expansion of the PRN.

The expansion is expected to take between 7 and 10 years, so the PRN will gradually increase in size until then. The PRN's decision seems justified after the outbreak of the Thematan conflict, as well as the fluctuation of international tension. If something horrific does happen and Quinntopia is forced to enter another conflict, then it is fair to say the in 7-10 years' time, Quinntopia will be well prepared for it.

More news on the expansion of the PRN as we get it.

Quinntopian troops celebrate as they enter a Thematan town in Starry Harbour

After many months of war, the regime of the United Themata Republic has formally declared its unconditional surrender to the LCP/Liberty coalition and all other forces involved in the Thematan conflict.

As soon as the news of the corporatocracy's surrender was released, the War Commissariat has issued the order for all Quinntopian troops currently involved in the Thematan conflict to come home, though it is reported that the Foreign Affairs Commissariat is hoping to come to an agreement with the LCP/Liberty coalition which allows a small Quinntopian force to maintain a defensive military presence in Themata so as to protect it from any forces which may intend to topple the new government, as well as to aid with supervision of internationally-monitored elections in Themata.

A victory parade will be held once the troops return from Themata. After the parade, the "small Quinntopian force" will then be sent back to Themata should the Foreign Affairs Commissariat and the LCP/Liberty coalition negotiate the aforementioned agreement.

What remains of the Quinntopian aid package sent to the LCP and Liberty is predicted to be put towards the reconstruction of Themata, though more aid is expected to be needed by the new government as the sheer scale of destruction brought by the war will take considerable amounts of time and money to repair. Quinntopia has stated it will be "willing to provide further aid", and this will probably involve sending men and resources (e.g. building materials) to help with the reconstruction efforts, and may involve additional financial aid.

For now, however, celebrations to mark the end of the war will take priority. Reports are already flowing in about huge parties on the Quinntopian lines in Themata, as well as raucous celebrations by both civilians and military personnel in Quinntopia itself. Street parties are already taking place in every Quinntopian city, with the largest street party, rather predictably, being held in Quinntropolis.

With the war over, and a new government in place, what will the future hold for Themata, and how will this affect our world?

Nergal mission on the cards?

After a long quiet period since the launch of the Liberation Space Telescope, the Quinntopian People's Cosmonautical Committee has now announced that they are planning a manned mission to Nergal, prompting mass gossip.

As usual, QPCC spokesperson Anatoly Borkorov had something to say. Here is what he said at a recent press conference called by the QPCC:

"Are we going to have a mission to Nergal in the future? Well... yes. We are planning one. In fact, planning has been going on for quite some time now, but we wanted to keep it a secret until planning was nearly finished or over, as we didn't want to spoil the surprise. We're hoping to put men on Nergal within the next 5-10 years. Whether this is possible remains to be seen, but we certainly hope it is.

We've designed a new launch system specifically for a mission to Nergal - the Soviet launch system. It has been built around the design of the Progress launch system, but improvements and upgrades have been made, meaning that Soviet will use all the latest equipment. We've also changed the actual structure of the launch system so that it is better suited to the longer-distance trip to Nergal. A couple of prototypes have been constructed, and these will be rigorously tested within the coming weeks and months.

Soviet will be capable of carrying 5 cosmonauts to Mars and back, as the final stage of the rocket will act as a landing module on Nergal and will also be able to take off to make the journey back to Mundus.

Furthermore, we're going to be sending up rovers to Nergal to analyse the planet - the information they collect will be vital in determining whether it is safe to land men on Nergal or whether humanity is still a long way off a manned mission to the planet."

These recent developments have piqued the interest of the majority of Quinntopians - it seems that everywhere one goes, there are people talking and pondering over what will happen in regards to this story. It's quite clear that Quinntopia is looking forward to a manned mission to Nergal, no matter how far in the future it may happen.

Following yet more Albanoran anti-communist propaganda, the People's Government issued another statement, which was delivered today by Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie in the New Hall of the People.

Here is the full statement:

"After the release of more anti-communist propaganda by the Albanor News Network, the People's Paradise states that if the slander does not stop soon then Quinntopia will be forced to take appropriate action.

Albanor continues to accuse communists the world over of being violent savages, but do you see communists bandying childish insults towards capitalism in the same way that the Albanorans are slandering communism? If anything, they are the violent ones because they are the main culprits of the recent increase in international tension. Also, have communist protests against such propaganda descended into mindless violence and looting like the anti-CSTO protests in Albanor? No. Therefore, it is Albanor who are responsible for the violence. They are the greatest hypocrites of all.

It is a rare occasion when we stand with the USR but this is one of those occasions. Whilst we do not see the USR as true communists, we cannot allow the Albanorans to remain a threat towards international peace and the People's Paradise will therefore be joining her left-wing comrades in denouncing Albanoran threats and propaganda. We and our Thematan comrades have been wrongly insulted and the aforementioned parties should not stand for such abasement.

With the formation of the Free Market Alliance (FMA), our task will become more difficult, but if all communists stand in union against their propaganda and hostility, we can make international peace a significant possibility once again. Quinntopia does not seek hostility with the Free Market Alliance, but if they continue their hate campaign against communism, then Quinntopia shall have no choice but to return the hostility.

The People's Paradise hereby encourages the people of Quinntopia and all other countries which see themselves as communists to take to the streets in peaceful protest against Albanoran and FMA propaganda. We cannot stand for slander.

That is all."

In concurrence with said encouragement, massive anti-FMA protests have began in Quinntropolis, Marantha and other major Quinntopian cities, indicating that Quinntopian proletarians have also had enough of the seemingly endless Albanoran propaganda.

What the People's Government means by "appropriate action" remains to be seen - whether it be military action, economic sanctions or otherwise is unclear, but as events unfold, many should be able to predict what might happen as a result of the increase in tensions.

So, what will the future hold?

Quinntopia leaves Covenant of Nations

Andrei Petnov delivers the news at a press conference

During a press conference called by the Foreign Affairs Commissariat earlier today, Andrei Petnov gave the news that Communist Quinntopia has decided to leave the struggling Covenant of Nations.

Quinntopia's departure from the Covenant of Nations follows similar departures by other nations such as Rokkenjima and Elpidia, suggesting that there is clear dissatisfaction among the international community in regards to the Covenant. The withdrawal of a multitude of influential nations from the Covenant of Nations hints towards a return to the old system of international conferences, which are seen to have been much more effective at solving issues between nations than the Covenant ever was.

Here is Comrade Petnov's official statement to the Covenant of Nations, which he released during the press conference:

It is my duty to inform the world that the People's Assembly has voted in support of the withdrawal of the People's Paradise of Communist Quinntopia from the Covenant of Nations for the reasons which have been mentioned by multiple nations and their respective representatives. We, like our Elpidian comrades, also support Comrade Beatrice's proposals as well as supporting the re-establishment of the conference system used by the nations of the world in the past.

We look forward to future developments in the field of international relations.

Those reasons include the inefficiency of the Covenant of Nations and its inability to prevent conflicts - the recent Thematan Conflict being a prime example of this. Furthermore, it is widely believed that the Covenant did not live up to its promises, and did not make much progress at all from when it was first established. Nevertheless, multiple countries, such as Rokkenjima, want to keep the spirit/sentiment of the Covenant alive for the betterment of the international community. This would include advocating more extensive human rights and endeavouring to combat poverty.

Princess Evanthe Anselmo of Rokkenjima has called for a "Universal Declaration of Human Rights". Many already predict that Quinntopia and the rest of the CSTO are likely to sign, should it get the green light. Many Quinntopians also hope that Quinntopia will play a leading international role in the post-Covenant era, with the UDHR providing a stepping stone for Quinntopia to do so. Should this become a reality, the People's Paradise is predicted to focus on combating poverty and providing humanitarian and financial aid for those beneath the poverty line so as to increase international income equality.

Quinntopians are now left wondering what will happen following the collapse of the Covenant. Is the future bright?

Quinntopia applauds Tristantian response, urges USR to avoid hostility

Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie during his address, which was made on behalf of the People's Assembly and the Foreign Affairs Commissariat

In a recent address, Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie revealed that Quinntopia was delighted with the Tristantian response to Free Market Alliance propaganda, but also that Quinntopia wanted the USR to avoid a hostile response in the interests of international stability.

The address was a brief one, but Comrade Vinage-Sovetskie was still able to get Quinntopia's message across. Here is what he said:

"The response of the people of Tristantia to Quinntopia's earlier statement regarding the Free Market Alliance (FMA) is admirable, and is evidence, at least to us, that the rest of the world has few worries about the spread of communism, and is instead more interested in preserving international peace and stability, something which the FMA appears to be uninterested in if one goes off their recent hostility and propaganda. The People's Paradise now hopes that the proletarians of the world will follow the example of the proletarians of Tristantia and protest FMA hostility.

Nevertheless, just because the FMA is exhibiting hostility towards communism, that does not mean that we must return it. That is why the People's Paradise urges Chairman Stalin and the United Soviet Russia, in the interests of international stability, to avoid responding in a hostile fashion. We call for the USR join the stand of Quinntopia, Tristantia and other nations against FMA propaganda, for only through international co-operation can we exert significant international pressure on the FMA and force them to back down, thereby preserving the peace."

This development follows the collapse of the Covenant of Nations, meaning that Quinntopia (and probably the CSTO in general) may have to work hard to gain the support from independent powers needed to apply enough pressure to force the FMA to back down in its hate campaign. Meanwhile, the anti-FMA protests in Quinntopian cities are still ongoing, and are showing no signs of stopping any time soon. It appears that Quinntopian proletarians believe sustained protest against the FMA may be the answer.

With all the uncertainty, one has to wonder: will the rising international tension lead to conflict?

Inaugural Soviet test flight a success

Soviet T-I about 30 seconds after lift-off

Earlier today, the cosmonauts about Soviet T-I (T-I standing for 'Test I') returned to Quinntopia, concluding their three-day long mission to test the Soviet launch system's capabilities.

No major problems were reported by the cosmonauts to Mission Control at the Sickle Space Centre, prompting beliefs that the Soviet launch system should be capable of a mission to Nergal. The mission itself involved the testing of the manoeuvrability of the system, as well as testing its fuel efficiency. Soviet reportedly passed the test with flying colours.

This test flight comes just after the ISEA of Rokkenjima announced that it would be conducting a manned fly-by of Ishtar* in the near future. It is believed that the QPCC will be attempting to coincide their Nergal mission with the Rokkenjiman mission to Ishtar.

The QPCC has also announced that the next few tests will be more extensive, with three tests, Soviet T-II, T-III and T-IV, planned for the near future. These test flights will test the components of the mission to Nergal as well as providing preparation for the conditions of the official manned mission to Nergal. They are each expected to take about four months each, taking the total time of testing up to about a year. After this, Soviet I will begin the official Nergal mission.

Quinntopia praises USR reforms and Rokkenjiman statement

Vinage-Sovetskie: "Whilst we cannot simply forget the USR's past actions, they are beginning to take steps in the right direction"

Following the announcement of reforms in the USR (albeit in exchange for humanitarian aid from Rokkenjima), Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie issued an official statement on behalf of the People's Government to address the USR reforms, as well as to reply to the recent statement of the Lord High Steward of Rokkenjima.

In a televised press conference from the New Hall of the People, Comrade Vinage-Sovetskie had much to say. An official transcript of his statement has been compiled. Here is said transcript:

"For once, the People's Paradise is pleased to see the news from the USR. The sentiment of Chairman Stalin's latest statement is laudable, as he is now opening his hand to the CSTO and CIS in friendship, rather than the fist of hostility that many would've expected him to wield going of his past actions. Nevertheless, these recent reforms in the USR deserve credit. Whilst we cannot simply forget the USR's past actions, they are beginning to take steps in the right direction.

The People's Paradise hopes that the Rokkenjiman package of food, fuel and medical supplies is beneficial to the people of the USR, and that it will help to improve the currently less-than-admirable humanitarian situation there. An unjust ideological war would only inflict further suffering on the people of the USR, and would undo all the work that the the Rokkenjiman aid package will put in place. Quinntopia concurs with Comrade Ofdensen that we must persevere with diplomatic efforts to address the challenges in the USR and make life better for the USR's proletarians.

That is why the People's Assembly is currently debating the subject of the possibility of Quinntopia supplementing the Rokkenjiman aid package to further improve the situation for the Soviets. It is predicted by many that the People's Assembly will vote for said supplementation. Furthermore, Quinntopia would come to the USR's aid should the Free Market Alliance take unprovoked military action towards them, as it would mean that the USR would be dragged into an unjust war of hatred rather than something which would bring change for the better.

Meanwhile, Comrade Ofdensen has declared Rokkenjima's 'undying, unwavering solidarity with Quinntopia', among other positive statements of support for the People's Paradise. Quinntopia returns the sentiment of the Lord High Steward in the highest way possible. The People's Paradise hereby declares her own undying, unbreakable, unwavering solidarity with Rokkenjima. Our bulwark of camaraderie has held strong for many years, and in this latest crisis, that shall be no different. Any threat towards Rokkenjima shall be considered a threat to Quinntopia, and said threat would be answered without mercy or remorse.

As we have stated multiple times before, the Free Market Alliance's claims are based on mere assumptions and tall tales about the 'horrors of communism', but these horrors have not been evident in communist countries such as our own, as well as Themata. The only horrors in Themata were committed by the old corporatocracy. The ignorance and intolerance of the FMA will only lead us to war if the international community allows them to continue their threats, yet they claim communists to be the root of all violence. Their unending hypocrisy should not be listened to or tolerated by the rest of the international community.

We echo the statements of Comrade Ofdensen inasmuch as the Free Market Alliance claims to be a bastion of freedom and democracy, yet Albanor and Great Jonathania (which make up a sizeable portion of the FMA) supported the former oppressive bourgeoisie regime of Themata, which brings into question the true aims and sympathies of the FMA.

The People's Paradise urges that hostility be scaled down - nay, completely eradicated, otherwise this crisis will snowball and we will not be able to control it.

That is all."

So, what will the USR reforms mean for both the people of the USR and the rest of the world? Will this crisis ever subside?

Victory parade finally takes place after multiple postponements

The troops who served in the Thematan Conflict parade through Revolution Square in Quinntropolis

After multiple postponements due to recent international events, the victory parade to celebrate the Thematan conflict has finally taken place in Quinntropolis.

All of the remaining 75,618 troops of the 83,000-strong force which fought in the Thematan Conflict paraded through Revolution Square to thunderous applause from spectators, followed by speeches from Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie and various other Chief Commissars which praised the troops which had served in the conflict and stated that Quinntopia hopes that once the recent concerns surrounding the Free Market Alliance have passed, a new era of global peace and stability will ushered in.

Nevertheless, despite all of the celebrations, there was a minute's silence in remembrance of the 7,382 Quinntopian troops who died in the conflict.

However, about 15,000 troops are expected to move back to Themata as per the agreement between Quinntopia and Themata which allows a less significant Quinntopian force to be stationed in Themata to protect it from outside forces which may seek to meddle in the country's affairs or even attempt to topple the new government. Their main mission, though, is predicted to be attempting to restore order and keep the peace at the recent constitutional convention in Freedom's Progress which has descended into violence and rioting.

More news on the Thematan situation will be released as soon as it comes in.

Nergal mission begins

Soviet I during lift-off

After a year of testing of the Soviet Launch System and other research, the official QPCC manned mission to Nergal has begun.

Analysis by probes on the surface of Nergal have confirmed that it is indeed safe to attempt a landing on the planet. The launch system has also passed all of its tests, so the QPCC has wanted to get the cosmonauts up into space as quickly as possible. The journey is expected to take a few months, so many provisions, particularly food and drink, have been stockpiled for the journey.

Only one foreign cosmonaut has joined the Quinntopian cosmonauts on their voyage as Novincia is hitherto the only country to apply for a space on the mission. This foreign cosmonaut is Fyodor Lapukhov, who is a cosmonaut of the Novincian Space Agency. It is his first voyage into space, so marking the occasion by doing something never done before in human history is almost unbelievable. It is expected, however, that more countries will apply over time, which will mean more missions to Nergal. These circumstance mean that there is now four Quinntopian cosmonauts going to Nergal rather than the original three.

The Quinntopian cosmonauts that are currently aboard Soviet I are Nikita Anagorov, Iosif Maratov, Møtve Kaiba and Mørel Alkaev.

News regarding the shuttle is still scarce, as it has now left orbit, but Mission Control at the Sickle Space Centre in Quinntropolis says that the final stage has now detached and the proper voyage to Nergal has begun. They have also stated that there have been no problems thus far.

Cosmonauts land on Nergal

The cosmonauts' landing module on the surface of Nergal shortly after landing

Today marks a historic day for humanity - four Quinntopian cosmonauts and one Novincian cosmonaut have landed on the surface of Nergal for the first time in human history.

Quinntopian cosmonaut Nikita Anagorov (also the first Quinntopian on the moon) became the first person in recorded history to step foot on Nergal. He was followed by Novincian cosmonaut Fyodor Lapukhov - the other Quinntopians allowed him to go second in a gesture of friendship. Those two were followed by Iosif Maratov, Møtve Kaiba and finally, Mørel Alkaev. Anagorov communicated this information to Mission Control at the Sickle Space Centre after all five had disembarked from the landing module.

The five cosmonauts have already started to collect samples of dust, rock and other such things from the surface of Nergal - though only after a Quinntopian and a Novincian flag were planted in front of the camera. These will be analysed by both the QPCC and the Novincian Space Agency upon the cosmonauts' return to Mundus.

Anagorov stated this during an internationally-televised broadcast of the landing:

"Since the Rokkenjimans took the first steps on the moon, it was only a matter of time before humanity looked further, to Ishtar, to Nergal, and to the rest of our solar system. Quinntopia and Novincia have made the step to Nergal, and this represents an unforgettable, unprecedented day in the history of mankind. Its significance shall be felt for decades - no, centuries to come.

Whilst the first person on the moon on Luna was a woman, the first on Nergal is a man - how about that for gender equality, huh? *chuckle* Anyway, the work we conduct here will certainly give humanity a greater understanding of space and our fellow planets. I certainly think that the colonisation of Nergal will be possible by the end of this century. I don't know who will be the first, but it will happen at some point.

We'll soon be holding a celebration in the landing module, in which we will consume the finest Quinntopian vodka and Novincian alcohol - thankfully there's more gravity than on the moon so the drinks won't be as prone to flying out of the glass!

But for now, we continue to collect samples. I look forward to returning and I hope our work up here brings much knowledge to humanity."

In a statement running simultaneously to the broadcast from Nergal, Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie stated that he thought the landing was "one of the most unprecedented events in human history, and an event of great historical and scientific value." He also stated that he welcomed "the arrival of other nations' cosmonauts on Nergal, for the world should be able to experience what the five cosmonauts up there are currently experiencing."

Massive celebrations have begun across Quinntopia, though these will be nothing compared to those held when the cosmonauts return.

Quinntopia bids to host World Cup

Artyom Mesov just after the heartbreaking 4-3 extra time defeat to Chernobereg in the final of the previous World Cup

Communist Quinntopia has officially made a bid to host the next World Cup, IFFA reports say.

Many Quinntopians think that the country has good reason to bid for the hosting rights - the country has an abundance of large stadia, most of which are expected to be used should Quinntopia win the hosting rights to the next competition. Quinntopia also reached the final, but suffered an emotionally crushing 4-3 extra time defeat at the hands of Chernobereg - this is another reason why Quinntopians think that the People's Paradise has a good chance of getting the hosting rights. Some think that Quinntopia may even go onto win the World Cup this year, with new talent coming in to back up the 'old guard'.

In terms of hosting the contest, Quinntopia faces competition from Tytor, Blue Shadow and Achkaerin. Both Blue Shadow and Achkaerin have prepared more stadiums than Quinntopia and Tytor for the contest, but the nation still has high hopes.

So, who will be the host of the next World Cup? We'll find out soon!

Soviet aggression 'unacceptable', claims Vinage-Sovetskie

Vinage-Sovetskie: "Just when we thought progress was being made, Stalin has undone that progress through outdated imperialism"

After the latest chapter of events in the USR, Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie delivered a televised statement on behalf of the People's Government after the People's Assembly voted to impose sanctions on the USR.

Here is a transcript of the statement:

"Once again, the United Soviet Russia has acted aggressively towards her fellow nations - their response to the Rokkenjiman refusal to recognise the Socialist State of Safraen was unnecessary and completely over the top. It is not like Rokkenjima had invaded Soviet territory, all they did was refuse to recognise what is, in effect, a Soviet colony.

This just goes to show the true nature and sympathies of the USR. They are rather obviously not communist; it's clear that they are imperialists who have no regard for human rights, or even human life itself - well, at least human life outside of the USR.

The Soviets have also stationed many troops in nations and areas surrounding their country, even though the Rokkenjimans, and perhaps others, are only partaking in military exercises which haven't expressed any intention of targeting the USR. This aggression is shameful and demonstrates how foolish it was to believe that real change could be brought to the USR. Just when we thought progress was being made, Stalin has undone that progress through outdated imperialism.

Due to these events, the People's Paradise shall expel any Soviet diplomats in Quinntopia and close any Soviet embassies. Soviet tourists and diplomats have 48 hours to leave Quinntopia, and all Soviet assets in Quinntopia shall be frozen. Furthermore, Quinntopia refuses to recognise the Socialist State of Safraen as a sovereign nation, due to the fact that it is practically a Soviet colony. We shall also be cutting off the trade deal (which exchanged Quinntopian food, medicine and other resources for promises of improvement of the lives of the Soviet people) between our two countries, because Chairman Stalin would probably refuse the aid anyway after hearing this statement.

Let it also be known that the People's Revolutionary Navy shall be joining the exercises of the Imperial Rokkenjiman Navy in the Great Northern Sea. However, these vessels will not invade the USR or perform any hostile actions against it.

We hope that this whole sorry chapter can be brought to an end soon.

With tensions increasing again between the USR, will Stalin back down again? Or, after being forced to back down multiple times before, thereby embarrassing him in the process, will Stalin refuse to back down? Only time will tell.

In response to the draw for the 2nd IFFA World Cup, Oleg Lakov has announced the 24-man squad he'll be taking to Tytor to participate in the tournament.

Lakov has already stated that he hopes that the team can do as well as last year, in which Quinntopia finished as the runners-up after an extra-time defeat to Chernobereg in the final. Lakov also said that if Quinntopia reaches the final again, then he hopes that the team can be clinical enough to actually go on to win the tournament.

Not many players have changed from the team selected for the previous World Cup. Here is the team:

Quinntopia expands military capabilities

Ivan Toralo, Chief Commissar of the War Commissariat, announced the news earlier today

With tensions between the CSTO and the USR beginning to rise once again, Ivan Toralo had some good news to deliver, reporting that Quinntopia had made requests to use/have military bases in some of her comrade nations in the CSTO, and that said requests had been accepted.

The approval of the requests means that Quinntopia now has shared use of the Rokkenjiman naval and air facilities at Aldspring and the Rokkenjiman base in Dartfordia. Quinntopia is also having her own army/air base built in Novincia, as well as a naval base constructed on Hetral Island in Elpidia.

These developments mean that Quinntopia will be able to respond to international crises much more quickly and effectively, instead of having to wait copious amounts of time for naval task forces or air wings to actually arrive at the scene of a crisis. They are also being hailed as a "show of friendship and mutual solidarity between Quinntopia and her CSTO comrades" (as put by one particularly enthusiastic Foreign Affairs Commissar). They are also expected to aid with mutual defence between Quinntopia and the rest of the CSTO.

So, will this latest development on the international stage bring benefits? We will soon find out.

An Elpidian immigrant airs his views at a protest in Isidrio

Following the latest developments in the Illumic Channel situation, specifically the actions of the None of Your Damn Business (NOYDB) movement, multiple protests against said actions have erupted across Quinntopia.

Quinntopians have been widely disgusted by the actions of the NOYDB movement, in particular the pumping of pig excrement into Elpidian rivers. This particularly appalled the proletarians of Quinntopia due to the considerable risk of disease that these actions carry, as well as the way in which they clearly violate the human rights of the people of Elpidia. In addition, the NOYDB movement is planning to dam rivers which flow into Elpidia and pump super-heated water and other liquids into the Illumic Channel, aimed towards Hetral Island and Elpidia. This did more to anger many Quinntopians as they see the actions as denying the people of Elpidia water, thereby further violating their human rights.

As if that wasn't enough, the NOYDB movement is also planning to send barges full of waste to Rokkenjima, a move which has been heavily criticised and strongly opposed by the Rokkenjiman government, as well as others, adding to the condemnation of the NOYDB movement's aforementioned actions.

The whole incident has erupted from the Kingdom of Seaforth and the Sultanate of KaiserAdolf merely expressing concern for the build-up of CSTO military assets in the Illumic Channel, which ended up in said countries effectively blockading the channel - this has also been met with strong opposition from the international community due to the fact that they are effectively blockading international waters. Many feel that the issue could've been solved earlier through diplomacy, but unfortunately, that was not the case.

Meanwhile, a Task Force of the People's Revolutionary Navy is currently on its way to the Illumic Channel to join the Rokkenjiman military exercises in the Great Northern Sea, according to reports. It is still unclear whether this Task Force will run into problems in the Channel, which means that Quinntopia now watches on with bated breath.

So, how and when will this situation be resolved, and what will it mean for Quinntopia's place on the international stage?

Cross-Straits Union finally unveiled

After a long, anxious wait, the Cross-Straits Union has finally been unveiled to the rest of the world.

The Cross-Straits Union (CSU) is, effectively, a division of the CSTO, composed of five members: Quinntopia, Rokkenjima, Elpidia, Dartfordia and Novincia, with Kazarovia and Tytor choosing to be observers rather than full members of the Union. The CSU will provide a single market for its members, meaning that tariffs will be abolished for non-sensitive goods - in the future, this single market is predicted to lead to the free movement of workers, capital, and the free trade of goods between the member nations.

The CSU also boasts a bicameral legislature - the Lower House is composed of delegates elected by the citizens/proletarians of the member nations, as well as an observer each from Kazarovia and Tytor. This is what the CSU is hoping to have in the Lower House:

The Upper House is composed of delegates appointed by national governments, with one permanent delegate and one subject delegate per nation. There are also Executive, Judicial and Fiscal divisions of the CSU to keep the whole machine running smoothly.

The flag of the CSU was the third flag to be raised at the Skyscraper Citadel in Quinntropolis, joining the flags of Quinntopia and the CSTO both on the roof, and on the flagpoles on the ground.

Kazarovia leaves CSTO

Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie issued a statement on the matter earlier today

In an unexpected turn of events, the Armed Republic of Kazarovia has announced its withdrawal from the Cross-Straits Treaty Organisation.

In a global communiqué, the Supreme Commander of Kazarovia announced that the reason for Kazarovia's departure from the CSTO was self-determination (i.e. Kazarovia felt that the increasing need for unity in the CSTO would present their nation with an "ideological dilemma"). The Supreme Commander also stated that Kazarovia felt "increasingly distant from the actions of the CSTO". Nevertheless, the Kazarovians have stated that they will support CSTO causes - as long as said causes promote the safety of Kazarovian citizens, that is.

Every CSTO member nation except Novincia has sent replies to the Kazarovian communiqué, each one basically saying the same thing. In a communiqué which echoed the sentiment of earlier messages by other CSTO nations, Andrei Petnov, the Chief Commissar of the Foreign Affairs Commissariat, stated that Quinntopia was "deeply saddened to hear of Kazarovia's withdrawal from the Cross-Straits Treaty Organisation", adding that "Quinntopia does not treat this as an act of hostility, and we hope to maintain a strong, close friendship with Kazarovia", as well as the fact that "Quinntopia also acknowledges and understands why this decision has been made".

In response to Kazarovia's departure from the CSTO, the Kingdom of Dartfordia has proposed a "Sunset Ceremony", during which the flags of both the CSTO and Kazarovia are lowered, with the latter being presented to the Kazarovian delegate who will be present at the ceremony should it go ahead. This proposal has received widespread support from the other CSTO member nations.

So, what effects will Kazarovia's withdrawal from the CSTO have, if any? And will it affect the CSTO's ability to respond to international crises?

A bad start to the World Cup

Slaga Lagunov protests after a freekick is given against Quinntopia

Quinntopia got off to a turbulent start in the 2nd IFFA World Cup, with Elpidia taking their revenge for their 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Quinntopia in the previous World Cup by beating the Quinntopians 1-0 at the Floodwater Provincial Football Arena.

The game was a heated affair, with multiple Quinntopian players receiving bookings - even manager Oleg Lakov received a warning for his touchline conduct. After the match Lakov stated "It just wasn't our day today. I felt a lot of the refereeing decisions went against us. Nevertheless, we showed heart out there and I feel we were unlucky not to get a goal." He went on to say "Hopefully we can rally and bounce back with a win against Achkaerin".

This defeat, coupled with Achkaerin's victory over Elpidia, leaves Quinntopia at the foot of Group 1. Can it only get better from here?

Quinntopia to aid in enforcement of no-fly zone over Great Jonathania

With another civil war in Great Jonathania threatening the stability of Western Cotf Aranye, Quinntopia has decided to act and has joined Rokkenjima, East Moreland, the UNNA and Lyrosir in enforcing a no-fly zone over Great Jonathania.

Whilst the People's Paradise has declared both its neutrality in the conflict and its refusal to recognise either faction as the legitimate government of Great Jonathania, squadrons of fighters from the People's Revolutionary Air Force has been dispatched to air bases in Elpidia so that it can participate in the enforcement of a no-fly zone. The operation is being undertaken to ensure that the proletarians of Great Jonathania do not suffer unnecessary harm through the actions of the warring factions, and the no-fly zone shall be enforced until the conclusion of the conflict.

This is the first operation that the CSTO has become involved in since Kazarovia announced its withdrawal from the CSTO, so what happens here should be a good indicator of how much the military power of the CSTO has been affected - it should also show whether this has affected the CSTO's effectiveness and efficiency in responding to international crises. This operation is also the first operation that Quinntopia has undertaken with powers from outside the CSTO, which represents a significant development in Quinntopia's international relations.

So, what will this latest crisis mean for international relations and stability? Only time will tell.

Artyom Mesov shows his disappointment after losing 3-2 to Achkaerin

The World Cup has taken another surprising turn, with Quinntopia losing their second consecutive game in the competition - today they lost 3-2 to Achkaerin.

Quinntopian fans are increasingly disappointed and angry, with many calling for manager Oleg Lakov's head during today's match. Their expectations of Quinntopia getting through to the knockout stages seem to have been crushed by two defeats in a row. In fact, Yaropolk Vasilyev, the spokesperson for the Quinntopian FA, has stated that Lakov will be sacked if Quinntopia fail to get out of the group stage.

Quinntopia face Elpidia for the third time in their World Cup history in a few days - the fixture seems to be turning into the great World Cup rivalry of recent times. Quinntopia have one chance to turn things around with a win against Elpidia - if they lose, who knows what it will mean for the manager and the team?

Will things get better? Quinntopians certainly hope so!

During a visit to the city of Isidrio, Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie issued a brief statement on behalf of the People's Government to address the recent assassination attempt on Rokkenjiman Princess Adriana, as well as the attack on King Josiah in Northfort.

Quinntopia to invest in new renewable energy scheme

Natasha Taurus, Chief Commissar of the Energy Commissariat, announces the news from the Energy Commissariat Meeting Hall in the Skyscraper Citadel

After having its proposal passed by the People's Assembly, the Energy Commissariat will be leading the development of a new renewable energy scheme.

In an attempt to cut down on non-renewable and polluting sources of energy, such as coal and gas-fired power stations, Quinntopia will be constructing windfarms (both on land and offshore), hydroelectric dams, and even geothermal, solar and tidal power stations over the next few years. These renewable sources will add to Quinntopia's array of nuclear power stations (which, whilst non-renewable, do not pollute the atmosphere).

Additionally, the People's Government will be allocating greenbelt areas - this means that nothing will be built in these areas and a policy of afforestation will be adopted. In her statement, Comrade Taurus claimed that "this scheme shows Quinntopia's commitment to reducing her emissions and improving the quality of our air, by both reducing the amount of carbon dioxide currently in our atmosphere, and the amount that is released into the atmosphere on a daily basis".

As for the location of these power stations, the tidal power stations and off-shore windfarms will be located in Quinntopia Bay and on the coast bordering it. The hydroelectric dams and land-based windfarms will predominantly be located in southern Communist Quinntopia, in the mountains of Sontuøsa and Sontésa. The solar power stations will be located in the northern regions (particularly Pferkeria), due to the greater abundance of sunlight. The geothermal power stations, however, will be distributed all across Quinntopia, with at least one of these power stations in each region of the country.

Comrade Taurus also stated that "the Energy Commissariat has toyed with the idea of adopting the Urban Canopy scheme, which is currently being adopted in various cities in Novincia, to further reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere." Should the Energy Commissariat go ahead with this idea, it is predicted that the scheme would be first trialled in Quinntropolis, with the scheme being expanded to other major cities should it prove successful.

Quinntopia gets first win of tournament - is Lakov safe?

Striker Luca Moretti celebrates after scoring the winning goal

Quinntopia achieved their first victory in the 2nd IFFA World Cup after defeating fierce rivals Elpidia 2-1 at Southmark Stadium.

Quinntopia went ahead in the 21st minute thanks to an Artyom Mesov thunderbolt from the edge of the box. The shot cannoned off the crossbar and into the net. Elpidia equalised not long after half-time, with many Quinntopians looking on with bated breath; at this point, some thought that Quinntopia was going to slip to a third straight defeat. However, in the 75th minute, Quinntopian striker Luca Moretti sealed the match with a placed shot into the bottom-left corner after a superb pass from winger Aleksei Kozlov.

The game was heated, as is becoming the norm with matches between Quinntopia and Elpidia, with players on both sides picking up yellow cards - Quinntopian centre-back Melker Ottosson was lucky not to receive a second yellow after a rash tackle on an Elpidian forward. Contrary to the reverse fixture, though, Lakov was able to remain calm. Many have been calling for him to be sacked in recent weeks, and he must hope that Achkaerin beats Elpidia. Lakov also knows his team has to beat Achkaerin, otherwise he will be facing the sack.

After the game, Lakov stated "It's a breath of fresh air for me, the team and the fans. We've finally ended a slump of two consecutive defeats with a win tonight, over the team which is seemingly turning out to be our fiercest rivals." He went on to add "I'm absolutely delighted that we've got the win, and hopefully we can push on, beat Achkaerin and qualify for the knockouts".

With good news finally coming from Tytor, will things only improve from here?

Hades Class Cruiser begins sea trials

PS Hades just before setting off on her first sea trial

The long-awaited new cruiser of the People's Revolutionary Navy, the Hades Class missile cruiser, began its sea trials today.

The trials, which are to be conducted in Quinntopia Bay, will last for 6 months and will be testing various aspects of the vessel, including (but not limited to) manoeuvrability, speed, strength (of the armour) and weapons capabilities. Once the sea trials of the Hades Class are complete, four Hades Class vessels are to enter service along with an array of other vessels - this is keeping in line with plans for the expansion of the PRN which were first made some seven years* ago.

Chief Commissar of the War Commissariat, Ivan Toralo, claimed that "the Hades Class missile cruiser will greatly increase the anti-ship and anti-air capabilities of the People's Revolutionary Navy due to the myriad of missiles that each of these new vessels is armed with." He went on to say "I hope that the sea trials of the Hades are a resounding success, and I look forward to seeing her in action."

It is presumed that three of the four new vessels will be stationed at three military bases in three different CSTO member nations, so as to use the recent "base share" scheme that the CSTO has implemented (presumably one with access to the Illumic Channel/Great Northern Sea, one with access to the Sea of Kyne, and one with access to the Krimeon Sea, whilst the one remaining vessel remains in Quinntopia. If so, then the PRN would likely be divided up into various fleets specialised to each of those three main oceans/seas, as well as a home fleet.

Will the Hades Class pass her trials?

Cross-Straits Parliament Elections conclude

What the meeting hall of the Cross-Straits Parliament will look like once construction of the CSU Headquarters is complete

Elections for the Cross-Straits Parliament, the Lower House of the Legislature of the Cross-Straits Union, have now concluded.

190 members of the Communist Party of Communist Quinntopia (i.e. 190 Commissars from all areas of the People's Government) have been elected by the proletarians to represent Quinntopia in the Cross-Straits Parliament, meaning that the Communist Party has gained all 190 seats available to Quinntopia. This result, coupled with the Socialist Party of Rokkenjima gaining 95 seats and the Trade Union Party of Dartfordia gaining 2 seats, means that the Cross-Straits Alliance of Communists and Socialists (ACS) is now the largest Cross-Straits Political Group with 287 seats/members. It also means that the Communist Party of Communist Quinntopia holds the most seats in the Cross-Straits Parliament.

Nevertheless, despite the significant margin in seats between the ACS and its nearest rival, the Alliance of Conservatives and Nationalists (ACN), Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie stated that he was "sure that our Cross-Straits Commissars will remain dedicated to the utmost co-operation with other Cross-Straits Parliament members, regardless of their political alignment." Furthermore, he claimed he was "still glad to see that Quinntopia's CSTO/CSU comrades do not shun communism".

The construction of the Headquarters of the Cross-Straits Union is expected to be complete within the next couple of years. Chief Commissars and Commissars alike will be attending the opening ceremony of the CSU HQ building, and it is likely that they will be staying on the QE2 whilst in Dartfordia, as it is to become the official hotel for CSU delegates once it has been opened.

With levels of co-operation between the member nations of the CSTO/CSU increasing endlessly, can this only mean good things for Quinntopia?

The Hades Class missile cruiser has passed its weapon capability trials with flying colours, reports from the War Commissariat say.

All of the weapons on the new vessel were tested, including the main guns and the ship's vast array of missiles. The War Commissariat has released multiple videos which include footage from the vessel of the weapons being fired. Here are two of those videos:

The footage shows the myriad of missiles and guns that the ship is armed with in action, allowing those who have watched the footage to only imagine how much destruction and damage these weapons could deal to enemy ships should the Hades Class become involved in any naval skirmishes. War Commissariat reports suggest that the Hades Class has also excelled in its manoeuvrability trials, meaning that the four new vessels will likely prove to be a formidable force in battle.

The vessel is yet to undergo its speed and strength/damage resistance trials, though it is expected that she will pass these as well. The tests will be repeated multiple times over the next 5 months until the Hades Class is finally introduced to active service in the People's Revolutionary Navy.

Rokkenjiman Prime Minister to tour Quinntopia

The People's Government has revealed to the proletarians of Quinntopia that the new socialist Prime Minister of Rokkenjima, Nettie Taylor, shall be visiting Quinntopia in the near future.

In the first foreign visit to Quinntopia since the Great Liberation, Taylor is expected to embark on a national tour of Communist Quinntopia with Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie. They will be visiting each region's largest city (or two largest cities in the case of Centralo), where they shall be visiting various landmarks, factories, schools and other such establishments. The tour is expected to start and finish in Quinntropolis and an initial itinerary for the tour has already been compiled and published by the Foreign Affairs Commissariat. The itinerary is as follows:
  • Quinntropolis
  • Marantha
  • Northania
  • Proletariat City
  • Isidrio
  • Sontaporta
  • Patelone
  • Quinntropolis

In Sontaporta, it is expected that Comrade Vinage-Sovetskie will unveil to Comrade Taylor the plans to expand the naval base in Sontaporta into an all-round (army, navy and air force) military base, which Quinntopia shall permit her CSTO comrades to use freely. Should these plans go ahead, the name shall be changed from the Sontaporta People's Naval Base (SPNB) to the Sontaporta Cross-Straits Military Base (SCSMB).

On the subject of navies, it is also predicted that Vinage-Sovetskie, along with Andrei Petnov and Tørsten Sikarov, will attempt to negotiate the purchase of Caroline Class Corvettes and Minstrel Class Amphibious Assault Ships from the Imperial Rokkenjiman Navy, or at least the licence to build said vessels.

Here is what Comrade Vinage-Sovetskie had to say about the Rokkenjiman Prime Minister's upcoming visit to Quinntopia during his aforementioned interview on People's Paradise Today, a news programme regularly broadcast on CQBS ONE:

Interviewer: So, Comrade, what are your opinions on the upcoming visit by the Rokkenjiman Prime Minister?

Vinage-Sovetskie: I am elated by the news that Comrade Taylor has chosen to visit the People's Paradise. As she herself has stated, this visit celebrates the unprecedented friendship, solidarity and camaraderie between Quinntopia and Rokkenjima. We have done them many services, and they have done us many services, too. Through our mutual co-operation we have made progress in a multitude of areas, particularly in regards to our navies and space programs, the latter of which I am particularly proud of.

I hope that Quinntopia will welcome and listen to the ideas that Comrade Taylor will share with us when she begins her visit in the upcoming days, and I look forward to seeing which of Quinntopia's ideas she will take home with her and adapt so that they work under the Rokkenjiman system.

The People's Government has arranged for her to go on a national tour because then she can see the entirety of our great nation, and will provide further proof to the world that communism can be successful when applied correctly. Quinntopian Communism has made great leaps and bounds for communism as a whole, as it has done a lot to improve the once-negative reputation of communism. In fact, the election of Comrade Taylor, a socialist, in and by a nation who proclaim themselves as an Empire strongly supports this point. I am glad to see that the world - particularly our CSTO comrades - are choosing to tolerate or embrace communism rather than shun it.

Interviewer: You mentioned the Taylor's victory in the Prime Ministerial Election in Rokkenjima, and what that means for communism. Could you explain, in greater detail, how you feel about said victory?

Vinage-Sovetskie: There is no other word for it - I'm delighted. I am sure that under Taylor and the SPR's guidance, the proletarians of Rokkenjima will be empowered further, and I hope that Comrade Taylor's election victory heralds in an era of egalitarianism in Rokkenjima. Whilst I have no problems with the Rokkenjiman government system, I feel that a scheme or institution similar to our own People's Assembly would do wonders in empowering the proletarians of Rokkenjima.

Furthermore, I'm pleased to see that the SPR will be putting a greater focus on education, healthcare and welfare. This means that the people of Rokkenjima will only benefit more under the guidance of the SPR - even more so than they did under the guidance of the Imperialist Party.

I look forward to seeing what Comrade Taylor and the SPR will do for the proletarians of Rokkenjima.

So, will this visit strengthen the already unbreakable bonds between the People's Paradise and the First Empire? We will soon find out!

Hades Class Cruiser enters service

After its six-month long trials, the Hades Class Cruiser has finally entered service, along with a host of other vessels.

The four new vessels have entered service along with 1 Quinntopia Class and 2 Partisan Class Battleships, 2 Marantha Class and Liebknecht Class Cruisers, 4 Isidrio Class, 4 Muntano Class and 2 Patelone Class Destroyers, 3 Sontaporta Class and 2 Sicalona Class Submarines, another Inferno Class Aircraft Carrier and another Sturgeon Class Assault Vessel.

Though the Hades Class is not expected to see much action in the near future due to the fall in international tension, the vessels will definitely be ready for action should they need to be deployed anywhere. The Hades Class is set to massively increase the threat and capability of the People's Revolutionary Navy upon the waves.

The expansions of the PRN probably come as welcome news, particularly to the CSTO, due to Kazarovia's departure from the CSTO. This means that a significant deficit in military power has came into being - a deficit which must be made up. The construction of the four Hades Class Cruisers along with the other expansions appear to be Quinntopia's response to the deficit in military power which the CSTO is currently affected by.

Will the Hades Class live up to expectations?

In a televised statement made earlier today, Andrei Petnov, the Chief Commissar of the Foreign Affairs Commissariat, expressed Quinntopia's concern over the possible revival of the Free Market Alliance (FMA).

In his statement on behalf of the Foreign Affairs Commissariat, Petnov claimed that a revival of the FMA would be "dangerous" and "worrying for all communist nations, whether they are friendly or oppressive". He also stated that "the People's Paradise views the efforts of Great Jonathania to revive the Free Market Alliance as a cause for concern, because, as previously demonstrated, the Free Market Alliance is a threat to international peace and security".

Overall, Petnov implied that Quinntopia would be taking a cautious approach regarding FMA developments so as to avoid provoking the FMA into military action.

His statement was widely welcomed by Quinntopians, who widely believe that any revival of the FMA is a worry for the international community, particularly communist nations. They feel that the FMA has unjustly threatened peaceful communist or socialist nations, such as Quinntopia or Themata, purely on ideological grounds.

So, what does the possible revival of the FMA mean for Quinntopia and the rest of the international community?

Quinntopia celebrates Worker's Day

Today marked the 15th annual Worker's Day, celebrating the 17th anniversary* of the first major victory of communist forces during the Great Liberation. Mass celebrations were held across the country.

The largest of the celebrations was to be found in Quinntropolis, where, as usual, the annual Worker's Day Parade was held in Revolution Square, celebrating the communists' first major victory in the Great Liberation - the defeat of the reigning military junta's forces at the Battle of Kistana (now Proletariat City) on 15th June, 1997.

Thousands upon thousands of troops from all sectors of the People's Revolutionary Armed Forces paraded through Revolution Square, with several thousand spectators on-site and tens of millions watching the celebrations on television. The infantry parade was accompanied by a fly-over by fighters, bombers and helicopters from the People's Revolutionary Air Force, as well as a marching band playing various Quinntopian military anthems.

Following the parade, speeches were made by various Chief Commissars, including but not limited to Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie, Alcaeus Rojas and Ivan Toralo. Afterwards, the street parties began. Virtually every city in Quinntopia was brought to a standstill due to the massive feasts, dances and other such celebrations taking place on the streets. It was a time for patriotism, with a great number of flags being waved and thousands heard singing Triumph of the Revolution, the Quinntopian national anthem.

As Quinntopia winds down from the celebrations, service in the country will soon return to normal.

Transport and Tourism Commissariat to follow Dartfordian example

A MagLev train travels along the Quinntropolis-Marantha MagLev line

Following news from the Dartfordian Broadcasting Corporation that Dartfordia will be revolutionising its railway network, the Transport and Tourism Commissariat has decided to follow in Dartfordia's footsteps.

Whilst all of Quinntopia's railway lines are electrified due to a similar upheaval by the People's Government soon after the inception of the People's Paradise, Anna Culés, the Chief Commissar of the Transport and Tourism Commissariat, thinks that Quinntopia needs to modernise its rail system again to keep up with the times. This will involve expanding the already existing MagLev line between Quinntropolis and Marantha as well as designing and implementing new trains, which will be quieter, faster and more comfortable, yet also more environmentally friendly. Some example concepts of said new trains can be viewed below.

Train concepts

Over the next few decades, over C₡100,000,000,000 will be poured into the scheme to improve Communist Quinntopia's railway network. With the implementation of new trains, journey times across Communist Quinntopia will be greatly reduced. It will also be easier for drivers to drive the trains, as the automatic emergency stop function used on Quinntopian trains will be improved to increase its reaction time. This means that if a driver runs a red light, the train will come to a halt quicker, preventing accidents and death.

Culés stated that "we shall also be taking another page out of the Dartfordians' book by implementing self-powering signals, which shall be run by wind and solar power. This will make Quinntopia's railway network one of the most environmentally friendly in the world. This is progress!" She also thought that "the expense will be worth it once this entire scheme to revolutionise our rail network is complete".

Will this scheme improve public transport in Quinntopia? Only time will tell!

Quinntopia applauds Rokkenjiman same-sex legislation

Quinntopians across the nation showed widespread appreciation of Rokkenjima's new same-sex legislation, which allows same-sex couples (where at least one of the partners is Rokkenjiman) to get married and make adoptions at Rokkenjiman consulates.

Same-sex marriage and adoptions have been legal in Quinntopia since 2002 following the implementation of the LGBT Equality Act by the People's Assembly, in conjunction with the Emancipation and Equality Commissariat. This led to attitudes towards same-sex marriages, adoptions etc. changing significantly from the days of the People's Republic of Quinntopia, when a discriminative, oppressive and authoritarian military junta ruled supreme.

Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie hailed the legislation as "a colossal step in the right direction for LGBT rights, as well as human rights in general". Valdemar Aalto, Chief Commissar of the Emancipation and Equality Commissariat, stated "this legislation shows that our Rokkenjiman comrades demonstrate the utmost devotion to equality". Aalto also implied that the Emancipation and Equality Commissariat would be proposing similar legislation to that of Rokkenjima to the People's Assembly, further helping to more fully emancipate Quinntopian proletarians.

When question about the possibility of the CSU implementing same-sex marriage/adoption legislation, a landslide majority of Commissars and Chief Commissars said that they would welcome such legislation, claiming that it would be another major step towards equality for all.

The proposed legislation will be presented to the People's Assembly within the coming weeks.

Quinntopia through to World Cup quarter-finals

Zydra Nylund celebrates after putting Quinntopia 2-0 up against Achkaerin

The national football team of Quinntopia has pulled off a miracle, qualifying for the quarter-finals after defeating Group 1 leaders Achkaerin 2-0 at the Northpoint Football Arena.

After losing two games in a row to Elpidia and Achkaerin, the possibility of Quinntopia qualifying for the quarter-finals seemed like a forlorn hope, as Quinntopia propped up the rest of Group 1. However, two consecutive wins against aforementioned nations in the reverse fixtures means that Quinntopia have leap-frogged Elpidia in the table and qualified for the knockout stages. Quinntopians are especially delighted after getting one over on "the old enemy" - Elpidia*.

Quinntopia took the lead in the 27th minute after centre-back Desiderio Acciai headed the ball in from a superb corner by Taras Danilov. From then on, it was plain sailing for Quinntopia, who dominated possession for some time. Then, in the 64th minute, that dominance showed, with Zydra Nylund scoring with a powerful half-volley from inside the box.

Lakov stated that he was "delighted". He said "we [Quinntopia] really dominated the game. We kept possession well, and our finishing was clinical. I'm elated that we've managed to qualify after a nail-biting opening to this tournament. There was a serious possibility that we wouldn't qualify after we lost to Achkaerin in our second game, but thankfully we've turned things around and with two consecutive wins, we're through, and I think we thoroughly deserved it. It's also nice to qualify at the expense of our rivals, too. Nevertheless, this was a difficult group and all of the teams in it played well."

Quinntopians eagerly await the quarter-final, where Quinntopia will face the Central Ossarian Republic at the Floodwater Provincial Football Arena.

* Not political - "the old enemy" is simply a common synonym for "rivals" in Quinntopia

Quinntopia advances to semi-finals

Artyom Mesov takes a penalty to put Quinntopia 1-0 up

Quinntopia has advanced to her second consecutive World Cup semi-final by defeating the Central Ossario Republic 2-1 at the Floodwater Provincial Football Arena.

After their miraculous qualification for the knockout stages from Group 1, the Quinntopian national team are starting to look a lot like their old selves, after worries that Quinntopia wouldn't advance from their group. They have now gone undefeated in three games after losing their first two. Quinntopia is yet to draw a game in this edition of the World Cup.

The game started with a number of chances at both ends within the first 15 minutes or so. However, none of these succeeded in finding the net, although many of these shots were on target - only superb goalkeeping displays by both 'keepers kept the scores level. Then, in the 19th minute, Artyom Mesov burst forward with an incredible turn of pace. Just as it looked like he would score, he was brought down in the box by a COR centre-back. Mesov scored the subsequent penalty to put Quinntopia 1-0 up.

That was still the score when the teams returned to the pitch for the second half. It seemed like this was going to be the final score, until veteran attacking midfielder Matvei Silokov scored in the 75th minute with a placed effort from inside the box. The Quinntopian fans roared as the ball flew into the bottom right-hand corner. The Ossarians did mount a late, desperate charge to try and salvage something from the game, with their efforts paying off in the 83rd minute as one of their strikers scored with a well-struck shot from the edge of the box. However, it was too little too late and the Quinntopians triumphed.

Lakov stated that he was "elated" by the victory and that he is "very much looking forward to the semi-final." Quinntopia will play Kazarovia, the hosts of the last World Cup, again at the Floodwater Provincial Football Arena.

Themata overthrown by USR - Quinntopia prepares for war

Troops of the People's Revolutionary Army prepare for the possibility of a second invasion of Themata

Following the announcement that Soviet insurgents have overthrown Themata and declared the "Soviet State of Themata" as a vassal state of the United Soviet Russia, Communist Quinntopia has issued an ultimatum to Stalin.

The People's Paradise has already refused to recognise the legitimacy of the Soviet State of Themata, and the ultimatum states that the USR has 48 hours to either give up Themata or go to war. Many worry that the latter will be the result due to the USR's notoriously stubborn attitude, especially when it comes to diplomacy (see: the Ecclesiarreich Conference).

As a result, Quinntopia is already preparing its forces for an invasion of Themata. This will be the second invasion of Themata that Quinntopia has participated in; the first being when Quinntopia entered the Thematan Conflict to help overthrow the corporatocracy which was in power at the time. It appears that Quinntopia does not want oppression to befall the Thematan people again, so the People's Revolutionary Armed Forces stand ready to liberate Themata for a second time.

Savely Yakovlev, Quinntopia's representative to the CSTO, has already delivered the news to the rest of the CSTO and proposed that a Joint Task Force be put together by the various member nations to liberate Themata from the grasp of Stalin and the USR. The CSTO is yet to make a decision on this issue.

Is Mundus once again heading to war? Only time will tell.

Quinntopian Airlines unveils new livery

The new livery of Quinntopian Airlines, the government-owned flag carrier (national airline) of Quinntopia

In a press conference from their Quinntropolis HQ, Quinntopian Airlines today unveiled a new livery for their aircraft, which shall be used immediately.

Planes carrying the old livery will not have their livery updated, but over the years these planes will soon be decommissioned, paving the way for those with the new livery to make up most, if not all of the Quinntopian Airlines fleet. The new livery was received with widespread approval at the press conference, with much applause and cheering heard as it was unveiled.

There are concerns that the black fuselage will cause the cabin to heat up to an uncomfortable temperature, but Quinntopian Airlines has assured passengers that new, powerful air conditioning systems shall be implemented on all planes bearing the new livery so that the cabin remains at a comfortable temperature.

Quinntopia Airlines stated that the change in livery was "mostly made to make our aircraft look more attractive, but also to make Quinntopian Airlines aircraft clearly distinguishable from other airlines." The airline hopes that the new livery "helps to spread the identity of Quinntopian Airlines across Mundus and make our planes stand out."

Will this new livery prove to be successful?

Quinntopia to construct new missile defence systems

The Rokkenjiman Valiant Shield system is one of three new systems to be rolled out across the country

Following the escalation in tensions between the CSTO and the WARSAW Alliance over the Soviet coup in Themata, Communist Quinntopia has purchased a licence from Rokkenjima to build the Valiant Shield, Ma'lia's Spear and Surefire missile systems.

The three systems will be modified slightly so that they can use Quinntopian weapons, and so will operate under different pseudonyms. Valiant Shield will be known as Steel Emancipator, Ma'lia's Spear will be known as Proletarian's Fortitude and Surefire will be known as Stalagmite. These will supplement Quinntopia's current missile defence system, known as the Eternal Guardian system.

The War Commissariat has stated that the new missile systems "will be implemented as fast as possible, hopefully within the next few months". The systems will mainly be focused in the north of the country, and along the Pøplian coast, as that is where the War Commissariat believes an attack is most likely to come from, particularly air or naval assaults on Quinntopia. Ivan Toralo, Chief Commissar of the War Commissariat, stated that "the Quinntopian proletarians have no need to live in fear during these uncertain times. These missiles systems, along with our valiant Armed Forces, will maintain their security at all costs."

According to reports from the War Commissariat, tests on the modified systems are yet to experience any major problems, and are so far going as planned. This will certainly make the proletarians of Quinntopia breathe more easily knowing that they should be safe from the hostility of the WARSAW Alliance.

People's Revolutionary Army to develop new mobile artillery and missile launchers

In order to protect Quinntopia from future invasions, the People's Revolutionary Army is to develop new mobile artillery and new mobile missile launchers.

It is expected that these new elements of the PRA will be constructed over the next few years, with the first few of these becoming operational in 18 to 24 months' time, so it is likely that they will have very little, or even no part to play in the current CSTO-Warsaw standoff, even if said standoff does result in an invasion of Themata. However, the War Commissariat states that they will be fully operational for future conflicts.

The four new artillery/missile launch systems to be introduced to the ranks of the PRA are the QA-100, the QRS-700, QRS-800 and the QRS-1000. According to the War Commissariat, 100 QA-100s will be produced, along with 30 QRS-700s and QRS-800s, as well as 10 QRS-1000s. It says that these systems will "massively increase the destructive power of the People's Revolutionary Army and make her both a formidable foe to all of Quinntopia's enemies, and a valuable asset to her allies."

Due to a worldwide consensus against WMDs, the larger missile launch systems will not carry such things. Instead, they will carry a range of missiles, from conventional missiles to thermobaric missiles - the latter will be fitted with the warhead from a QTOB-1 Thermobaric Bomb. The QRS-1000, however, will be used for intercontinental/very-long range warfare, whereas the other artillery/missile systems will be used in conventional, short-to-long range warfare.

Will these new weapons give the PRA a renewed advantage over her enemies?

People's Assembly votes to put Quinntopia on highest alert level

Following Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie's statement to the WARSAW Alliance, which was broadcast internationally, the People's Assembly has vote to put Quinntopia on its highest possible alert level: Alert Category V.

Alert Category V means that war is imminent, usually resulting in the mobilisation of military forces and preparing safety measures for civilians in case the homeland is attacked. In concurrence with the former, a naval Task Force of the People's Revolutionary Navy, known as Task Force Valhalla, has reportedly began a voyage to the Sea of Kyne - this is probably to begin enforcing the blockade of Soviet Themata.

Ivan Toralo, Chief Commissar of the War Commissariat, stated that "these are uncertain times not just for Quinntopia, but for the whole of Mundus, therefore we must take the necessary steps to protect ourselves with the utmost caution, yet with great haste as we never know when, or even if, the violence might start." Proletarians are now participating in mandatory emergency drills so they are prepared in case the WARSAW Alliance launches an attack on Quinntopia. The haunting drone of Communist Quinntopia's emergency sirens could be heard in multiple cities, towns and villages across the country today.

Despite the very real threat of an invasion, Ivan Toralo, Alcaeus Rojas and Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie have urged Quinntopians to remain calm and wait to see how the situation develops, claiming that "if Quinntopia is close to being invaded, the proletarians will know about it".

A clearly annoyed Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie has rebuffed the latest statement from Thomradeopolis, a WARSAW Alliance member, dismissing it as "ludicrous propaganda" and a "disgrace".

Here is the full statement:

"Having read the latest Thomradian statement earlier today, I must say that I was disgusted. The statement is abhorrent. It is a disgrace. How dare they suggest that we have abandoned diplomacy when they were not even willing to negotiate with us in the first place? This proves that the Thomradian statement is nothing more than ludicrous propaganda.

I have many qualms with the statement, which I shall now go through. First of all, the declaration of the CSTO as a terrorist organisation is completely unwarranted, as the CSTO has not participated in any activities which could be associated with terrorism. This is simply an uneducated and rash decision made in haste by the Thomradian government. Also, they cannot claim that Themata would live under 'CSTO oppression', considering how hideous the human rights records of WARSAW member states are. We are also not denying humanitarian aid - I believe the UNP has stated that they shall send humanitarian aid to Themata, and because we can actually trust the UNP, we have not prevented them from doing so.

Major Thom also accuses the CSTO and its member nations of being "backwards". However, only "backwards" nations would release such shameful propaganda. It appears that WARSAW wishes to bring about the destruction of the world as we know it - the CSTO and the Ardian Entente are simply protecting the interests and the national sovereignty of Themata from the fascist, oppressive grip of the WARSAW Alliance. The WARSAW Alliance shall not be allowed to keep its foothold in Ardia, for it simply cannot be trusted to not antagonise or attack nearby nations.

Despite all of these things, the claim that infuriated me, and the rest of Quinntopia, I'm sure, was that the CSTO would "rape and kill" the "comrades" of the WARSAW Alliance. This is a shocking claim which we shall refute with the utmost anger. How dare Major Thom even suggest that we would rape any comrades of the WARSAW Alliance? The CSTO remains as the main force against WARSAW evil upon Mundus. We seek only for the world to live in peace, however the refusal of the WARSAW Alliance to negotiate some sort of ceasefire or peace treaty means that we have had to turn to our last resort - military action.

WARSAW shall never be Mundus' "dominant faction". Your troops are hastily drafted, badly trained and poorly equipped. Your ideals and policies are rejected and detested by every sane person on this planet. Your reputation lies in tatters, as it has done for so many years. The CSTO, on the other hand, boasts well-trained and well-equipped forces, as well as a much better international reputation than the WARSAW Alliance. We shall put an end to your destructive, narcissistic tendencies, as well as your general intolerance for human life. As we have stated before, WARSAW will pay for their crimes against humanity.

That is all."

With Quinntopia, the CSTO and several other nations now at war with the WARSAW Alliance, what will this mean for Mundus?

Quinntopia through to second successive World Cup Final

Artyom Mesov celebrates his 1st goal of the night - that goal put Quinntopia 3-0 up

Quinntopia recorded their biggest win in their World Cup history today after trouncing Kazarovia 5-0 at the Floodwater Provincial Football Arena, meaning that Quinntopia has progressed to its second consecutive World Cup Final.

This was their biggest win in the competition since they thrashed rivals Elpidia 4-0 at the last World Cup. The Floodwater Provincial Football Arena also appears to be Quinntopia's lucky charm, with the team having won two of the three matches they have played there. Quinntopia's progression to the final means that all of Quinntopia's knockout matches will have been played at the same venue - the aforementioned Floodwater Provincial Football Arena.

Onto the details of the game: Quinntopia, playing in a 4-3-1-2 formation, scored quickly, in the 4th minute no less, thanks to a Zydra Nylund thunderbolt from just inside the box. They soon doubled their lead in the 17th minute after veteran attacking midfielder Matvei Silokov scored a tap-in into an open goal from 12 yards after rounding the Kazarovian 'keeper. Artyom Mesov made it 3-0 on 35 minutes, scoring a brilliant freekick from 25 yards. That's how it finished at half time, and the second half didn't get much better for Kazarovia.

It was only eight minutes into the second half (the 53rd minute) when Quinntopia made it 4-0, with Zydra Nylund getting a second goal. After that, the Kazarovians appeared to dig in somewhat, hampering Quinntopian efforts to increase their lead further. However, there was one man who could make his way through the Kazarovian blockades: Artyom Mesov. He got a second goal in the 79th minute after passing three defenders before placing the ball casually into the bottom-left hand corner.

Lakov stated that he was "overjoyed" and "ecstatic" because of the comprehensive nature of Quinntopia's victory, adding "I hope we can just repeat this against Blue Shadow in the final." Clearly, Lakov and the fans do not want Quinntopia to lose a second successive World Cup Final, so the team will be doing everything they can to prevent that from happening.

They will play Blue Shadow in the final at the Floodwater Provincial Football Arena.

Revolution Day Parade to go ahead despite war

Troops of the PRA during last year's Revolution Day Parade

Despite the ongoing conflict between the CSTO and the WARSAW Alliance, the 16th annual Revolution Day Parade will still be held, reports say.

The parade, held on 27th July every year to celebrate the end of the Great Liberation (i.e. the communist revolution which overthrew the ruling military junta at the time), normally goes without problems, and after a vote, it has been decided that this year's parade will not be postponed either, despite the current conflict between the CSTO and WARSAW. It is a time for patriotism and national pride, and clearly the People's Government does not want to ruin the occasion for the hundreds of millions of Quinntopians who are anticipating the parade.

Of course, the presence of PRN troops will be greatly reduced due to their participation in the blockade of Themata, but the other two wings of the People's Revolutionary Armed Forces, the PRA and the PRAF, should have as good a turnout as ever. The parade will also showcase prototypes of the new vehicles being developed by the PRA, which, according to a recent poll, are highly anticipated by the proletarians of Quinntopia.

The parade will be broadcast by CQBS and various other channels across Quinntopia, and depending on international interest, it may be broadcast to the entire world, apart from the member nations of the WARSAW Alliance, for obvious reasons. Nevertheless, the TV audience for the parade is expected to be in the hundreds of millions. Around 27th July, Quinntopians will become increasingly patriotic, and street parties are expected to take place in practically every village, town and city in Quinntopia once the parade has concluded.

Revolution Day Parade takes place without problems

The 16th annual Revolution Day Parade went ahead yesterday, as planned, and was held without any problems whatsoever.

If you missed CQBS' live coverage of the parade, do not worry. The parade is still available to watch on CQBS On Demand. Valeriy Polzin, a Commissar from the War Commissariat, inspected the troops before Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie made a speech honouring the heroes and veterans of the Great Liberation. Following this speech, the parade, which was led by Ivan Toralo, the Chief Commissar of the War Commissariat, commenced and the troops started marching by the stands from which military veterans, Chief Commissars and Commissars as well as ordinary proletarians were watching. Each unit was greeted by applause as they marched past.

As promised, the parade also showcased some of the latest announced prototypes for the new weapons being developed by the People's Revolutionary Army, as well as a couple of unknown, unannounced prototypes - the latter are expected to be officially announced at some point in the near future. Of course, the new prototype which drew the most attention was the QRS-1000, the new Goliath of the PRA. Its sheer size was probably the reason for this, as the cameras picked up many amazed and/or shocked expressions from the crowd.

Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie was interviewed shortly after the parade, where he said that he thought the parade was "excellent" and that it was one of the best he'd seen. He then went on to further praise the heroes of the Great Liberation as well as stating how far Quinntopia has come since the communist victory in 1998. He was pictured shaking hands with veterans of the Great Liberation as he made his way out of the stands.

Hopefully next year's Revolution Day Parade will be just as good!

(OOC: Imagine all the Russian flags, insignia etc. have been replaced with Quinntopian equivalents, and ignore the captions. Also, imagine the Quinntopian national anthem is played instead of the Russian one.)

Quinntopia wins World Cup!

In the Final of this edition of the IFFA World Cup, Quinntopia brushed aside Blue Shadow in a convincing 4-0 victory which saw them win the tournament.

The team have finally achieved what they wanted, after losing to Chernobereg in the last World Cup Final - a heartbreaking 4-3 extra-time defeat which many found hard to swallow. Nevertheless, Quinntopians everywhere are absolutely delighted that their motherland has triumphed in the World Cup. The 50,000 Quinntopians (approximate figure) inside the Floodwater Provincial Football Arena (evidently the lucky charm for the Quinntopian national team) were also extremely vocal in showing their elation, with deafening singing and chanting throughout the match and during the festivities afterwards. Celebrations in Port Monsoon, as well as the major towns and cities of Quinntopia, continued long into the night, with fans standing on and leaning out of cars, beeping their horns, waving Quinntopian flags in addition to singing and chanting.

Onto the details of the match: The Quinntopian team, clad in a special commemorative change kit walked onto the pitch to face their opponents, Blue Shadow. Whilst the first half was an entertaining affair, neither side could break the other side down, and so, despite multiple chances at both ends, the match was still scoreless as half-time beckoned. Lakov decided that the team should go all out, so he changed to a 4-3-3 formation, bringing off Slaga Lagunov, who had sustained a knock, and replacing him with Luca Moretti, meaning that Quinntopia boasted a formidable forward line: Mesov, Moretti and Nylund.

The change paid dividends as Quinntopia quickly got into their stride and began to dominate the second half. Moretti got himself on the scoresheet in the 50th minute with an accurate finish into the bottom-left hand corner. Not two minutes afterwards, Artyom Mesov predictably got a goal with a powerful strike from just outside the box, putting Quinntopia 2-0 up. Then, after another great spell of passing, Mikhail Rodriguez slotted the ball home from 12 yards in the 68th after a probing pass by Aleksei Kozlov caught the Blue Shadow goalkeeper off-guard. Quinntopia went 4-0 up in the 84th minute after Melker Ottosson headed home from a Taras Danilov corner.

Lakov told press reporters that he was "over the moon" with Quinntopia's performance in both the match and the World Cup as a whole, adding that he was "utterly thrilled" that Quinntopia had actually won the World Cup after it had eluded them last time. The players had similar things to say. Quinntopians are now eagerly anticipating the next World Cup, in which Quinntopia's defence of the trophy will begin.

Nikodim Krupin takes chequered flag at East Moreland Grand Prix

Yesterday went well for Quinntopia Racing in the East Moreland Grand Prix, kicking off the first season of Formula Mundus with a 1st-place finish.

Though the race was close, Nikodim Krupin of Quinntopia Racing took the chequered flag, with Daniel Miles of Rokkenjima's Pyretta Blaze Racing finishing three seconds behind Krupin. Rounding off the podium was Rico Filoni of Futurist League Racing, finishing 11 seconds behind Krupin. Krupin's teammate, Fedot Markovic, didn't fare as well, finishing in 8th - 33 seconds behind Krupin. Nevertheless, these results have put Nikodim Krupin top of the Driver's Championship and Quinntopia Racing 2nd in the Constructor's Championship.

Krupin had this to say:

"I'm delighted to get off to a good start. Finishing 1st in the inaugural race is always a confidence booster, and I hope it rubs off on my teammate, Fedot. I hope to finish well in the Driver's Championship - at least making a challenge for the top spot, and I hope that the team does well in the Constructor's Championship, though for the latter to happen, it's all up to Fedot and I to deliver the points. Still, I'm really happy that I've won the East Moreland Grand Prix and I'm looking forward to the next race."

The team will soon be travelling to Axiom, Dartfordia, for the Dartfordian Grand Prix, the next race on the schedule. Though the track is not really a high-speed track, Quinntopia Racing's reputation for doing well in the Qualifying stages should help them out and provide a solid foundation for Krupin and Markovic during the race, with them hopefully finishing well.

WCSECC's Project Spetsnaz parodied

A popular parody image, originally captioned "Spetsnaz Space Station is switched on for the first time"

Following the WARSAW Co-operative Space Exploration and Colonisation Command (WCSECC)'s announcement that they would be building a space station, several Quinntopians took to the internet to parody the project.

Many of the people who started/created the parodies believe that the Spetsnaz Space Station is a "copycat" of Quinntopia's Independent Cosmonautical Station, and that "most of the things that WCSECC is planning have already been done by the QPCC, ISEA or other space exploration/research organisations". Others cite Project Spetsnaz as "the biggest waste of money since the USR's navy". Others feel that the construction of the space station will have been rushed so the WARSAW can claim "glory" over having their space station operational so quickly, meaning the station may encounter several faults.

The above image is not the only one that has been doing the rounds on the internet. WCSECC's poster celebrating the launch of Sputnik, one of the modules which makes up the Spetsnaz Space Station, has also been ruthlessly parodied by several:

Other poster parodies have been made, with some choosing to add nuclear symbols or an array of cannons and other weapons to the rockets to symbolise how they believe WARSAW will find some way to weaponise their rockets and bring war to space. Many have also spotted the spelling mistake in the poster and have repeatedly berated the WARSAW Alliance for it.

It is clear that the recent global conflict, which most Quinntopians believe was incited by WARSAW, has caused these people to take to the internet and parody WCSECC's project. Had the world been living in peace at this moment in time, the jokes and parodies regarding Project Spetsnaz would be much less prominent. However, with Quinntopians looking to hit back at WARSAW in any way they can, these parodies have gone viral across the country.

ProletariLand unveils plans for new rollercoaster

ProletariLand, a theme park a few miles outside of Quinntropolis, has announced that it intends to build and open a new rollercoaster - the fastest rollercoaster in the world, no less, within the coming 12-24 months.

The rollercoaster, which shall be known as "Red Lightning", is a steel launched coaster, which will use a hydraulic launch system to effectively catapult the train out of the station and around the track. The rollercoaster will become the fastest in the world upon its opening, with the train reaching 150mph in 5 seconds. Because of the immense speed of the rollercoaster, the designers claim that riders will have to wear protective goggles to minimise the damage from impact with insects or airbourne particulates. Each train is said to be able to hold 16 people.

Magnetic brakes will be used in certain sections of the coaster to prevent the G-force created by the speed, twists and turns from becoming too great. Riders will experience a maximum of 4.8G. Much innovation was required to get Red Lightning out of the design stage and into the construction stage due to multiple issues with speed, G-forces and other such things. Nevertheless, these problems have been rectified and the construction of Red Lightning is now underway.

ProletariLand is also home to another record-breaking ride: Marov (named after the tallest mountain in Quinntopia) - the tallest rollercoaster in the world and currently the fastest (until Red Lightning's opening, that is). ProletariLand spokespeople stated that this new ride is expected to "attract even more visitors to ProletariLand, and provide a boost to Quinntopian tourism."

So, will Red Lightning open on time? Will visitors enjoy it? Only time will tell.

Transport and Tourism Commissariat announces plans for two new cruise ships

The Transport and Tourism Commissariat today announced that they will be authorising the construction of two new cruise ships for the government-owned passenger shipping/cruise company, Quinntopian Cruises. It is said that these new cruise ships will be the largest in the world.

Hernando Riverov, spokesperson for Quinntopian Cruises, stated that "the new Colossus Class cruise ships will be capable of holding over 6,000 passengers and approximately 2,500 crew members," adding "these vessels will weigh 225,282 gross tonnes, and measure 1,187 feet in length, so they will undoubtedly be the largest cruise ships in the world upon their completion." Riverov also told CQBS that "the ships will contain a variety of different things, from restaurants, shops and a park to a gym, rock-climbing walls, a carousel and even a bar which can be raised or lowered between three decks." The full list of the amenities of the vessels can be seen here.

The ships are expected to cost C₡3,417,720,000 (approximately 1.2 billion Universal Dollars) each, so the pride of having the largest cruise ships in the world does come at a considerable price for Quinntopian Cruises. However, Anna Culés, Chief Commissar of the Transport and Tourism Commissariat, believes that it is necessary to keep the Quinntopian tourist industry thriving. It is believed that these two cruise ships will run regular services to Quinntopia's CSTO allies, such as Rokkenjima, Dartfordia and Tytor, though these routes are yet to be confirmed.

Once construction is completed, the two vessels shall be launched in Sontaporta (the same city in which they are being constructed) and christened PS Colossus of the Seas and PS Titan of the Seas. Many Quinntopians are looking forward to the launch of the two ships, and are eagerly awaiting the opening of ticket sales for the maiden voyages of both vessels, particularly in Sontaporta, where proletarians are taking great pride in Sontaporta's contribution to the Quinntopian tourist industry.

Podium finish for Quinntopia Racing at Dartfordian Grand Prix

Nikodim Krupin celebrates another podium finish

Nikodim Krupin retained his place at the top of the Formula Mundus Drivers' Championship and put Quinntopia Racing into 1st place in the Constructors' Championship today after finishing 3rd at the Dartfordian Grand Prix.

The miserable weather definitely seemed to slow Krupin down, so his good position in qualifying certainly helped to keep him in a podium position. The race was won be Ayrton Senna of the Fabrice Fireball team, with 2nd place being taken by Ariel Singleton of QAS Racing, 12 seconds behind Senna. Krupin took 3rd, a mere three seconds behind Singleton. This meant that Krupin would receive another eight points - this keeps him at the top of the Driver's Championship leaderboard with 20 points. Eight points separate him and Senna.

Krupin's teammate, Fedot Markovic, however, did not fare so well. He finished in 10th - an astounding 47 seconds behind Senna, meaning that Markovic hasn't receive any further points. He lies in 13th in the Drivers' Championship, 18 points behind his teammate.

Nevertheless, it isn't all bad news for Markovic. His 8th-place finish in the East Moreland Grand Prix, in addition to Krupin's consecutive podium finishes, have put Quinntopia Racing at the top of the Constructors' Championship with 22 points - five points are all that separate them from Fabrice Fireball, the team which currently holds 2nd place on the leaderboard. Vinage-Sovetskie encourages peaceful protests against WARSAW Alliance

Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie speaks at a public demonstration in Quinntropolis against the WARSAW Alliance

After visiting one of the many anti-WARSAW demonstrations held across Quinntopia, Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie made a statement encouraging further protests, not only in Quinntopia, but across the rest of Mundus.

Here is his full statement:

"Comrades, I have took part in the demonstration today and I must applaud and commend what you are doing. Your protests against the WARSAW Alliance are already helping to spread the word about their atrocities and their lies. The People's Government hereby encourages all Quinntopians to continue peaceful protests against the WARSAW Alliance, for only by applying even greater international pressure on WARSAW can we attempt to force them to back down. Police officers will be monitoring these protests to ensure that they remain peaceful and do not obstruct traffic and such. In short, please continue the protests in the manner in which you have conducted yourselves today.

Let it also be known that the People's Paradise commends the Rokkenjiman demonstrations against the WARSAW Alliance, and hereby encourages the nations of the free world to also encourage peaceful protests against the WARSAW Alliance. Together, we have the might to force the WARSAW menace to back down and minimise the threat of them further disrupting peace, order and international stability upon Mundus.

In the Kyne and in Themata, the CSTO and the nations of the free world are winning. Caelidia is making progress, albeit slow, in Themata and in the Kyne, the combined might of the navies of the member nations of the CSTO have dealt a crushing blow to their WARSAW adversaries. Novincia may be a different story, but that is where WARSAW is able to attack with their full force. Nevertheless, with superior training and technology, the CSTO should be able to put up a valiant fight.

On a more sour note, you may have heard about the recent cyber attacks on Rokkenjima. The People's Government is taking the necessary steps to ensure Quinntopia does not fall victim to such attacks. Our finest agents and technicians are watching our electrical grids, data and IT systems like hawks and will immediately terminate any threat before it has a chance to wreak havoc like it did in the Kavania and Estvua Prefectures.

That is all."

Protests took place in all of Quinntopia's major cities, as well as mulitple towns and villages. Effigies and pictures of Chairman Stalin, Major Thom and other key WARSAW figures were burned in massive bonfires, the largest of which could be found in Liberation Park in Quinntropolis. Others chanted and displayed anti-WARSAW slogans and calling for massive retribution against WARSAW.

Opinion polls suggest that a huge majority of Quinntopians support the war and sanctions against the WARSAW Alliance, and echo the sentiments of Rokkenjima's Shepherd Jackson, inasmuch as Quinntopia and the CSTO must use their position to cripple WARSAW's "diplomatic" endeavours, as well as isolating them economically. Quinntopians believe that the economic sanctions should continue after the war, as well as repeatedly and continuously imposing diplomatic sanctions against the WARSAW Alliance.

Another podium finish for Krupin

Nikodim Krupin celebrates after achieving his third consecutive podium finish

Nikodim Krupin and Quinntopia racing remain top of the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships respectively after Nikodim Krupin achieved another podium finish, finishing 2nd in the Aeternumese Grand Prix.

Z Kennedy of the Riviere Corporation Racing team took the chequered flag, with Krupin finishing 12 seconds behind Kennedy. Steve Thompson of the Crack-Cola team rounded off the podium, finishing just two seconds behind Krupin. As a result, Krupin received another 10 points, extending his lead in the Drivers' Championship to 14 points (Krupin has 30 points, and Ariel Singleton, who is 2nd in the Drivers' Championship, has 16 points). He has been pleasing many a Quinntopian with his scintillating form.

However, his team-mate, Fedot Markovic, had a disastrous race, finishing 23rd - a whole two laps behind Kennedy. This leaves him languishing in 17th in the Drivers' Championship, and must surely be making him envious of his team-mate's success. Many thought that Markovic would perform well due to Quinntopia Racing's expertise on high-speed tracks and good performances in Qualifying, but apparently they were wrong. Markovic has stated that he wants to perform better in the next race, particularly due to the fact it is a home Grand Prix.

Despite Markovic's disappointing performance in the race, Krupin's finish as runner-up has added another 10 points to Quinntopia Racing's total in the Constructors' Championship. The team now has 32 points, doubling their lead to 10 points - their nearest competitors, QAS Racing, have 22 points. Quinntopia Racing has released a statement saying that they wish both of their drivers good luck and that they hope that both perform well at the next race - the Quinntopian Grand Prix.

USR protests "symbolic of WARSAW aggression", claims Vinage-Sovetskie

Vinage-Sovetskie: "The aggression of the WARSAW Alliance is evident in the fact that the anti-CSTO protests in the USR quickly turned violent"

Following violent anti-CSTO protests in the United Soviet Russia, Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie has taken the opportunity to slate said protests, branding them as state-organised and "symbolic of WARSAW aggression".

Here is his full statement, made during a press conference in the New Hall of the People:

"Once again, Comrades, I speak to you today - something which has, worryingly, happened ever more frequently since hostilities between the CSTO and WARSAW began. However, this bears just as much importance as what I have previously told you on behalf of the People's Government of our People's Paradise. It regards the recent protests in the United Soviet Russia, which were reported by the USR Pravda.

The People's Paradise is not going to condemn the fact that they are protesting, since all should be allowed to express their opinions - a right, which I may add, is denied to the people of the USR, though the People's Paradise will condemn the fact that these protests turned violent. The violent actions of the protesters are symbolic of WARSAW aggression, further proving to the world that the WARSAW Alliance cannot control their anger and aggression and feel the need to 'take it out' on various things, be it shops, restaurants or even countries, such as Safraen and Themata.

The aggression of the WARSAW Alliance is evident in the fact that the anti-CSTO protests in the USR quickly turned violent, whereas anti-WARSAW protests in CSTO member nations, such as Quinntopia and Rokkenjima, remained peaceful, with no looting or violence being reported. On the other hand, the people of the USR resorted to racism criminal violence, looting restaurants and shops and committing terrible acts of arson that are likely to have killed many people - whom, may I remind the perpetrators, are probably from the USR themselves. This demonstrates WARSAW's total disregard for human life, both inside and outside of their sphere of influence.

This makes Chairman Stalin's latest statement one of unbearable hypocrisy. He tells his people not to hate foreigners because of their religion, race, culture and other such things, yet he famously persecuted, and continues to persecute the followers of Earagon, who have undergone terrible hardships under Stalin's regime. He also denies his own people basic human rights, and he and his government probably organised these protests themselves. This is why Communist Quinntopia urges all free nations to ignore Stalin's lies and hypocrisy and continue to apply diplomatic pressure on the WARSAW Alliance. For those involved in military hostilities with WARSAW, continue your fight and defeat the WARSAW menace! Drive them from the shores of Ardia! Force them out of Novincia! Cripple their ability to wage war so that they can never threaten international peace and stability again!

That is all."

What will this new development in the hostilities mean for Quinntopia, the CSTO and the free world? Only time will tell.

Quinntopia tops medal table at Winter Games

Valery Volkov advances up the ice during Quinntopia's 5-0 thrashing of Thomradia

Quinntopia has shot to 1st place in the IO Winter Games medal table after winning two golds and one bronze medal.

It was two of Quinntopia's female skiers, Yaroslava Matveev and Alyona Alkaev who brought home the gold in the Women's Super Combined and Women's Super G events respectively, putting in great performances which delighted the spectators - particularly the travelling Quinntopian contingent. However, the curling did not go so well, with the men's team winning one and losing one of their opening two matches, and the women's team losing both of their first two games.

It was in the ice hockey, though, where Quinntopia excelled. They easily swept aside Thomradia in a 5-0 victory where tensions both on and off the pitch ran dangerously high. Numerous anti-WARSAW and anti-CSTO chants could be heard throughout the match, with two players (one from each side) being sent to the sin bin for 5 minutes for fighting. The women's team found themselves in a similar situation against another WARSAW nation, Zararus, eventually finishing the game as the victors after winning 4-0. The Quinntopian fans were quick to make use of their bragging rights over Thomradia and Zararus.

Many Quinntopians stated that they were "delighted" and "thoroughly pleased" (as put by two fans who attended the Games today) at Quinntopia's performance in Day One of the Games, with many hoping for good performances throughout the Games to maintain Quinntopia's position at/near the top of the medal table. Whilst Thomradia has the most medals (six, to be precise), Quinntopia's tally of two golds and one bronze is, at the moment, good enough for them to take the top spot.

Quinntopia Racing disappoints on home tarmac

Nikodim Krupin was apologetic to fans after Quinntopia Racing's disappointing performance at the Quinntopian Grand Prix

Quinntopia Racing failed to achieve a podium finish for the first time in this season of Formula Mundus as Fedot Markovic and Nikodim Krupin finished 7th and 10th respectively. This marks the team's worst ever performance since Formula Mundus' inception.

This was also the first race where Markovic finished ahead of his team-mate, having been comfortably beaten by Krupin in the past three races. Krupin maintains his place at the top of the Drivers' Championship, but his lead has been reduced to seven points. Fedot Markovic added another three points to his tally, taking his total up to five points. Had it not been for Markovic's top 9 finish, Quinntopia Racing would have been tied on points with QAS Racing and Futurist League Racing. Nevertheless, Quinntopia Racing maintains a narrow three-point lead at the top of the Constructors' Championship.

Both drivers blamed the rain halfway through the race as the turning point for Quinntopia Racing. Krupin stated "we know that the cars certainly aren't as good in the rain as they are in dry weather, so the speed which we heavily rely on just wasn't as abundant as it usually is. That meant that we couldn't effectively challenge for first place, especially with all of the consequences that wet weather brings, such as a greater likelihood of crashes due to the slipperiness of the tarmac. If the cars had better downforce, we probably would've done better." He added "By the way, congratulations to Fedot for finishing ahead of me. You raced extremely well today, Comrade." Markovic stated that he was pleased with his final position and was grateful for Krupin's kudos.

Fans have been left devastated by the results of the race, with many expecting another podium finish for the team. It is clear that the rain meant that Krupin and Markovic couldn't meet the high standards and expectations that they have set through the team's performances in previous races. Some, however, feel that this loss is good for Quinntopia Racing as both the team and the fans have been brought back down to earth and can learn from this mistake. They only hope that this performance will not cost them either the Drivers' Championship or the Constructors' Championship further down the line.

Toralo expresses concern over USR-Transvaal lease

Toralo: "This latest development will only result in the return of tensions in the Illumic Channel"

Upon hearing news that the Trade Empire of Transvaal has leased an area of land to the USR, on which a USR military base shall be built, the Foreign Affairs and War Commissariats held joint discussions and drafted a statement which Ivan Toralo delivered earlier today.

Here is his full statement:

"I deliver this statement on behalf of the War Commissariat and the Foreign Affairs Commissariat.

Following the news that the Trade Empire of Transvaal has leased part of their territory to the United Soviet Russia, a nation which is a known and repeated perpetrator of genocide, most notably against the followers of Earagon, as well as a terrible abuser of even the most basic human rights, the People's Paradise cannot contain her disappointment in the Trade Empire. The USR has already stated that it will construct a military base on the leased territory - this latest development will only result in the return of tensions in the Illumic Channel, for as many have learned over the years, the USR cannot and must not be trusted.

We must also warn the Trade Empire about the other repercussions of allowing the USR to lease its territory for military purposes. Stalin is an imperialist menace who plans to impose his rule over the whole of Mundus. We have seen this with their invasions/coups in Safraen, Themata and Novincia, as well as their brinkmanship diplomacy and ignition of multiple international crises. I fear that at some point, the USR will use its military base in Transvaal to stage an invasion of the Trade Empire itself. We must not forget their actions in the First Illumic Crisis, when the USR imposed a blockade of the Great Northern Sea, denying vital trade to multiple nations. The People's Paradise urges the Trade Empire to reconsider its decision to lease territory to the USR.

The threat of blockades, military posturing and even conflict in the Illumic has now risen massively, all due to the fact that the USR will be constructing a base in the Illumic. Consequently, the People's Revolutionary Armed Forces shall maintain an increased garrison at QAMB so if any crisis does arise, we will be able to halt it before it spirals out of control. It is a shame that the Trade Empire has made this decision, for Quinntopia was considering developing its relations with Transvaal, however this development threatens to hinder any such plans.

The People's Paradise hopes for a quick resolution to this issue. That is all."

BREAKING NEWS: Petnov in critical condition after car crash

Petnov's car was recovered and set aside in a nearby park

Reports have been flowing in that Andrei Petnov, Chief Commissar of the Foreign Affairs Commissariat, was involved in a two-car crash late last night on Proletarian's Avenue in Quinntropolis.

It is believed that his car was clipped by another out-of-control vehicle on the rear of the driver's side of the car, causing Petnov's car to skid, then roll four times before finally coming to rest on its roof a few hundred metres away from where the crash occured. Medical teams were quick to rescue him, so fortunately, Petnov is still alive. Unfortunately, the other driver was killed in the crash, and paramedics say Petnov is in a critical condition and is now in Intensive Care in Quinntropolis General Hospital.

Upon hearing the news, many Quinntopian proletarians have expressed great shock and sadness, including Chief Commissars such as Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie, Ivan Toralo and more. Vinage-Sovetskie has cancelled his latest press conference to visit Petnov in hospital. When questioned by CQBS reporters outside the Skyscraper Citadel, he quickly commented "he [Petnov] has done a great deal of work to help get the People's Paradise where it is today, so I am deeply saddened by this news. I expect that others, including our allies abroad will be just as disheartened as I am to hear of this terrible, terrible news."

The Foreign Affairs Commissariat has voted for Xerxes Kaminski to stand in as Chief Commissar in Petnov's absence, but many fear that he may not recover from this incident. In addition to Vinage-Sovetskie, a few other Chief Commissars, with the support of their respective Commissariats, have postponed meetings so that Petnov can be visited in hospital. Kaminski has already stated that "government officials from our comrade allies are also welcome to visit Petnov if they so wish".

BREAKING NEWS: Stalin is dead

Chairman Stalin, the man responsible for the deaths and suffering of millions across Mundus, passed away earlier today

Earlier today, the USR Pravda informed the people of the USR and the world that Chairman Stalin, the controversial leader of the United Soviet Russia, has died after suffering a lengthy illness.

Arguably the bitterest nemesis of the People's Paradise, Stalin's reign in the USR was one marred by propaganda, genocide, human rights abuses, secrecy and imperialism. Despite the major impact that Stalin's death will have on Mundus, with life continuing as normal across Quinntopia, save for some proletarians allegedly organising parties to celebrate his death - the most notable of which was a street party held in one of the suburbs of the Quinntropolis metropolitan zone. There has been no reported grievance or mourning of the Chairman's death in Quinntopia. A statement made by Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie on behalf of the People's Paradise as a whole reflects this attitude.

Here is his full statement:

"Comrades, I stand here before you today to bring you news that will have a massive effect on Mundus - the news that Chairman Stalin of the USR is dead. Whilst the People's Paradise does extend its condolences to the People of the USR, we shall not be mourning his death. We see it only as an event which will, hopefully, bring change for the better in the USR.

Stalin was a tyrant, a murderer and a megalomaniac, not the god-like figure the USR Pravda made him out to be. He was responsible for some of the worst human rights abuses ever seen, as well as the mass genocide of the followers of Earagon. This is not to mention the other deaths he brought to countless millions through his imperialistic ambitions and desire to spread his influence across the globe without caring about the consequences of his actions. The numerous disputes and conflicts he ignited are a further example of just how despicable he really was. We currently find ourselves embroiled in a conflict that is of his doing, following the USR's coup of Themata.

There have been reports of Quinntopians celebrating Stalin's death, and we are not going to stop them. Stalin and his government have been a huge stain on the international reputation of communism, with the USR and many of its WARSAW allies being communist in name only. Hopefully, with his death, Quinntopia and other rational communist nations can more easily work to repair communism's international reputation. However, I fear that his successor will continue the policy of aggression and imperialism that became commonplace under Stalin's leadership, something which will not bode well for the international community. Nevertheless, we must wait and see as the new leader of the USR could prove us wrong by finally bringing much-needed reform.

Like Comrade David III of East Moreland, the People's Paradise of Communist Quinntopia urges Stalin's successor to bring said reform to the USR and ending the suffering of its proletarians, as well as fostering a culture of international co-operation. We shall not re-consider our current relations with the USR at this moment in time, but we shall see how the USR's new leader performs. If he brings positive change in the USR, then the People's Paradise may consider dropping its sanctions on the USR and re-evalutating its relationship. However, if he turns out to be another Stalin, the status quo shall be maintained.

What will Stalin's death mean for the international community? Will the recurring conflicts finally be brought to a halt? Only time will tell.

Quinntopia continues to perform well at Winter Games

Players from the Quinntopian men's ice hockey team celebrate their 10-0 drubbing of the USR

Over the past few days, Quinntopia has continued its superb performance at the IO Winter Games - the country now stands 2nd in the medal table with 13 medals (7 gold, 2 silver, 4 bronze).

Quinntopia has accrued its medals through a variety of different events. These events were spread out into many different categories, such as Alpine and Cross-Country Skiing, Figure Skating, as well as the bobsleigh and the luge. Both the men's and women's curling teams are unable to win any medals, but the men's team did put up a valiant fight, winning five games and losing three. However, the women's team was more disappointing, winning only two games and losing the other six.

However, the area where Quinntopia has dominated has been the ice hockey. Both the men's and women's teams remain undefeated after five matches - both have won all five. Both teams also maintain the best goal difference out of all other teams. This is probably due to the excellent defence of the teams - the men's and women's team have only let in a combined total of 11 goals, whereas they have scored an amazing combined total of 46 goals. This is probably due to their drubbings of the WARSAW nations, such as the 4-0 victory over Zararus, the 5-0 victories over Thomradia and Ireden, as well as an astonishing 10-0 humiliation of the USR. In addition to this, Quinntopia also thrashed Great Jonathania 5-0.

Quinntopia has only one medal less than the leaders of the medal table, East Moreland (who have 8 gold, 4 silver and two bronze medals) and two less than the country with the most medals overall, which is Thomradia (who have 3 gold, 4 silver and 8 bronze medals). Quinntopians await the upcoming events in the remaining days of the Winter Games in the hope that Quinntopia can bring home even more medals and, hopefully, finish the Games at the top of the medal table. Nevertheless, many proletarians have been extremely impressed by Quinntopia's performance at the Games and will take pride in the team of Quinntopian athletes regardless of if they finish at the top of the medal table or not.

Vinage-Sovetskie responds to new USR Chairman's speech

Vinage-Sovetskie: "The People's Paradise hopes that Brezhnev's words are merely bravado and not his plans for the USR"

Following the death of Chairman Stalin, the USR was quick to announce his successor: Boris Brezhnev. Brezhnev was a close friend of Stalin during his reign and was also head of the USR's secret service, the CSS, before becoming Chairman of the USR.

The new Chairman's inauguration speech seemed to suggest that he is more radical than Stalin - something which does not bode well for the international community. The speech caused worry to take hold in many Quinntopian proletarians, as they fear that more USR-incited disputes and conflicts will happen in future as a result of Brezhnev's implied radicalism. Many also fear that this may mean even greater suffering for the followers of Earagon, who have been repeatedly persecuted by the regime in the USR through genocide and other means.

Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie made a statement on behalf of the People's Government of the People's Paradise. Here is what he had to say:

"First of all, may I start this address by saying that the People's Paradise congratulates Boris Brezhnev on his ascension to the office of Chairman of the USR.

However, the People's Paradise is also appalled by his bravado and radicalism which seemed prevalent in his inauguration speech. Communist Quinntopia warns Chairman Brezhnev about the consequences of his words and what would happen if he were to put them into practice. Not only would the USR's international reputation as a genocidal, imperialistic, human-rights abusing police state be worsened, but Quinntopia, and the rest of the free world, I'm sure, would worsen their sanctions on the USR and apply further diplomatic pressure. They would also see to it that the USR would be further isolated diplomatically and economically.

Nevertheless, as Comrade Ofdensen of Rokkenjima stated hours ago, this may just be bravado, intended to appease, as Comrade Ofdensen put it "Soviet warhawks". The People's Paradise hopes that Brezhnev's words are merely bravado and not his plans for the USR. Should Chairman Brezhnev stick to his words, then Quinntopia would not hesitate in taking the necessary course of action, whether that be worsening sanctions, increasing the USR's diplomatic and economic isolation or even taking military action. We hope that the Chairman will not follow through with what he has said, and that he will reveal his "true colours" through other methods.

With that, the People's Paradise urges Chairman Brezhnev to be a force for real change in the USR - change for the better, that is - and finally end the suffering of all peoples which reside in the USR, regardless of their religion, culture or otherwise. The People's Paradise urges Chairman Brezhnev to end the persecution and genocide of the followers of Earagon, as well as Stalin's policy of brinkmanship diplomacy with the international community.

Since the worldwide conflict which recently enveloped our nations, Mundus has, for the most part, grown weary of war, instead opting to attempt to start a new era of genuine international peace and co-operation. The CSTO smashed the naval arm of the WARSAW war machine in the Kyne, as well as dealing crushing blows to WARSAW in Themata, so surely the Chairman must realise that a war would be extremely wasteful and damaging not only to the USR, but to Mundus as a whole.

Should this statement be broadcast in the USR, and I'm sure it will be in some way, be it by legal or illegal means, then I encourage the proletarians of the USR to demand their Chairman and his government to increase government transparency, as well as demanding a policy of international co-operation rather than aggressive, imperialist isolationism and an end to all persecution in the USR.

The People's Paradise will attempt peaceful diplomacy with the Chairman should he refuse to adhere to the words in his speech, but should the status quo in the USR be maintained, or even worsened, then we shall maintain or worsen the status quo of our current sanctions and attitudes towards the USR, as well as defending the People's Paradise and her proletarians whenever and wherever necessary.

That is all."

So, will the new Chairman prove to be as radical as his speech implies? Or will he go back on what he has said and bring positive change in the USR? And what would this mean for Quinntopia and the rest of Mundus? Only time will tell.

In a statement made on behalf of the Emancipation and Equality Commissariat, Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie applauded the recent political changes in Rokkenjima and Dartfordia, citing them as "beneficial" and "a great step forward for the People".

Here is his full statement:

"I am making this address on behalf of Comrade Valdemar Aalto, Chief Commissar of the Emancipation and Equality Commissariat, as he is presently unable to deliver this speech himself and has asked me to deliver it on his behalf.

Let me begin by saying that the People's Paradise applauds and commends the recent political changes in our comrade nations of Rokkenjima and Dartfordia. We feel that the changes shall be greatly beneficial to the citizens of these nations, as they will now have a much greater voice in the machinations of their national governments. As a nation which prides itself on the power it bestows upon the everyday proletarian, Quinntopia is probably best-placed to recognise these developments as a great step forward for the People. We can only hope that similar developments occur in future.

The recent political changes in Rokkenjima and Dartfordia show much promise for their proletarians, as now the legislation and policies of the aforementioned nations shall now more truly represent the will of the People, and this can only be of benefit to the nations in question. Quinntopia would probably not have prospered as much had the People's Paradise not been founded and the People not been the 'leaders' of the nation. Since Rokkenjima and Dartfordia are powerful, prosperous nations already, the increased power they are bestowing on their people can only bring them further prosperity.

Of course, the People's Paradise is also pleased by the increasing influence of liberal, left-wing parties and politicians in these countries, and hopes for this increasing influence to spread to other nations as well, although we have been, are, and will remain tolerant of other peaceful societies regardless of their ideology, culture or otherwise. With left-wing and/or liberal policies taking precedence in these nations, there will be numerous benefits for the people, which, as stated earlier, will only bring further success to Rokkenjima and Dartfordia.

That is all."

So, what will these political changes mean for Rokkenjima and Dartfordia, as well as the international community as a whole? Only time will tell.

People's Government releases statement on recent international events

Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie delivered the statement today after calling an emergency press conference

The People's Government has compiled a statement on behalf of the People's Paradise, which addressed many international issues. Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie delivered this statement today in a packed emergency press conference.

This is the statement in question:

"Comrades, it is a terrible shame that international tensions across Mundus are, once again, on the rise. There are multiple reasons for this, which the People's Paradise must express its utmost concern about. For example, the recent Soviet invasion of Meche - this is a disgrace, with the USR once again attempting to spread their influence in eastern Cotf Aranye so they can silence another democratic nation which doesn't agree with the ideology and/or beliefs of the USR, or more specifically, its Chairman - the fact that Thomradia has hitherto not taken an active role in the conflict just goes to show the idiocy of this invasion. The People's Paradise hereby condemns wholeheartedly the Soviet invasion of Meche and shall provide support to Meche whenever they request or need it. We must show the WARSAW Alliance that they cannot continue their aggression - we must make one huge push to force them to finally back down so that they can no longer pose a threat to international peace, order and stability.

Speaking of Thomradia, another WARSAW member nation, their recent dispatching of military vessels to the Illumic Channel to try and 'calm tensions' in the region will only lead to increased tensions there - something which the Illumic People do not need, want or deserve, with there having been two Illumic Crises already. The People's Paradise will not tolerate the escalation of a third Illumic Crisis. With this latest development, Quinntopia will be hoping to take a more active role in the protection of the Illumic Channel from threats such as these, and there may well be a Quinntopian application for honorary/associate membership in the Illumic Council in the near future. Considering the People's Revolutionary Armed Forces continue to maintain a sizable garrison at QAMB, such a decision would not be a waste of time or resources.

It is clear by these examples that the WARSAW Alliance holds little regard for the peoples of other nations, as well as international stability as a whole. They are not the only culprits of the recent rise in tensions, though.

The actions Trade Empire of Transvaal have also not helped matters. Their unbearably hypocritical and baffling protests against QAMB, as well as the Trade Empire's perpetration of state-sponsored piracy and slavery (although the latter has now been clarified), have also led to a rise in tensions, particularly in the Illumic region, with blockades of Transvaal having been enforced to try and force the Trade Empire to cease its policies of slavery and piracy. The People's Paradise has already declared multiple sanctions against the Trade Empire for this very purpose. Their protests against QAMB are also particularly confusing - how come they protest against a base being leased to the CSTO, one of the beacons of stability on Mundus, yet they do not protest territory being leased to the USR, the nation with possibly the worst human rights record on Mundus, and a habit of invading democratic nations?

The People's Paradise will be taking whatever action it deems necessary to prevent further rises in international tension, and the spread of WARSAW aggression and imperialism. We urge our comrades in the rational, free world to finally heed the multiple calls for them to take a more active role in pressurising the USR and WARSAW, as well as any other state which threatens international peace and stability, for only through international co-operation can we finally bring an end to all of this aggression.

Quinntopia goes top of Winter Games medal table

The Quinntopian Winter Games team has performed brilliantly over the past two days, winning a further seven gold medals to put Quinntopia top of the medal table.

One of the highlights of the past two days was Quinntopia's domination of the podium in the Women's 1000m speed skating event, with Faina Pavlova, Renate Omdahl and Khrystyna Chownyk winning the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. Other female athletes have won golds in various other events, such as the Women's Normal Hill (Ski Jumping), Women's Parallel Giant Slalom and Women's Slopestyle (Snowboarding). In addition to this, there were golds in the Men's 1,500m, 5,000m and 10,000m speed skating.

As expected, both the men's and women's ice hockey teams have continued to excel and both have maintained their unbeaten streak at the Games. There have been more resounding victories, too, with the women's team thrashing Saint Monterrey 6-0, the UNP 5-1 and Dijel 4-0, meanwhile the men's team defeated Severina 4-1. Both teams now enter the gold medal match, with the men's team playing the UNP and the women's team playing Achkaerin. Quinntopians across Mundus are hoping that at least one, but preferably both teams can go on to win the gold.

These stunning performances have catapulted Quinntopia to the top of the medal table with 16 gold, 4 silver and 10 bronze medals. This leaves Quinntopia with a total of 30 medals, meaning that Quinntopia has hitherto won the most medals in this edition of the Winter Games (though East Moreland aren't far behind with 29 medals, of which 13 are gold, 8 are silver and 8 are bronze).

Can Quinntopia continue this superb form until the end of the Games? Only time will tell.

Quinntopia slams formation of the UCR of Meche

Vinage-Sovetskie: "This area calling itself the 'United Communist Republics of Meche' will be communist in name only due to its ties with the USR"

After the Soviet-controlled area of Meche declared itself to be the "United Communist Republics of Meche", the People's Government compiled a statement on behalf of the People's Paradise which Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie delivered earlier today.

With alert levels at QAMB having been raised and with Quinntopian troops ready to begin their long voyage to Meche, this latest development has come as unwelcome news to Quinntopians. It indicates that the rest of Meche is now in danger of falling into the hands of the USR, something which the People's Government of the People's Paradise does not want to happen.

Here is the statement in question:

"As many had feared, the USR has refused to withdraw from Meche as the ultimatum nears its time of expiration. Consequently, Quinntopia is readying its troops and the People's Revolutionary Armed Forces should be present in 'Free Meche' within the next few days. As I, and others, have stated numerous times before, we cannot allow the USR to expand their influence, whether it be in Ardia, Cotf Aranye or elsewhere. We must stand up to the USR whenever and wherever it causes trouble.

The fact that the USR's WARSAW allies, such as Thomradia, are yet to participate in the invasion of Meche is testament to the opinion of the international community as a whole towards the illegal, unprovoked invasion of Meche. The USR has also installed a new illegitimate government in the area of Meche under their control. This area calling itself the 'United Communist Republics of Meche' will be communist in name only due to its ties with the USR, which saddens the People's Paradise as it will only result in the further damaging of communism's international reputation and the work of true communist nations to try and repair said reputation.

As soon as the ultimatum expires, Quinntopia shall deploy her troops to Meche and take all other planned steps. This will mean that the legitimate government of Meche will receive significant amounts of military, financial and humanitarian aid to assist them in the defence of their country against the fascist, imperialist USR. The People's Paradise will not cease in its challenging of the USR, as well as WARSAW in general, at each and every opportunity until real change for the better is made in the offending nations, particularly the USR. With that, Communist Quinntopia urges Chairman Brezhnev to rethink his ways and his policies to try and save what little reputation the USR has in the face of overwhelming international pressure.

Quinntopia and her CSTO comrades have long stood, at least in our opinion, as the symbol and bastion of opposition to imperialism and fascism in all of its forms. Whilst the USR's hypocrisy leads them into claiming that we are the fascists, that we are the imperialists, the world has learned to take their words as hollow lies which are only used to brainwash the unfortunate proletarians of the USR. At some point the totalitarian regime of the USR will fall, and Quinntopia looks forward to that day. For the time being, though, we're going to have to make a long, difficult stand.

That is all."

With a second war all but imminent, will Quinntopia and the CSTO be able to continue their opposition of the USR?

Quinntopia ends Winter Games at top of medals table

Oleg Venedev stated that he was "over the moon" in regards to Quinntopia's success at the Winter Games

After twelve days of drama and excitement, the Winter Games have drawn to a close, with Quinntopia emerging "victorious" at the top of the medals table. Quinntopians have taken this as an opportunity to celebrate.

Quinntopia finished the Games with 32 medals - this was the highest medal tally at the Games. Of these 32 medals, 17 were gold, five were silver and 10 were bronze. Whilst Quinntopia was successful in many events, including but not limited to the Speed Skating, the Luge and the Bobsleigh, the one which drew the most attention was, of course, the Ice Hockey. With both the men's and women's teams going into their respective gold medal matches with a 100% win record, hopes were high for both to bring home the gold.

However, it was not to be. Whilst the men's team triumphed over the UNP 4-3 to win the gold, the women's team put up a valiant fight against the resilient team from Achkaerin, who managed to overturn a two-goal deficit to win 5-4 in OT. Though many were slightly disappointed that the women's team did not emulate the success of the men's team in their gold medal match, many remain proud of their unbeaten record up to said match and the bottle they showed during the match - basically, they are seen to be undoubtedly worthy of a silver medal.

After witnessing the success of Team Quinntopia at the Winter Games, as well as the success of the Quinntopian team at the IFFA World Cup, the Culture Commissariat has proposed an increase in funding to continue what Oleg Venedev, Chief Commissar of the Culture Commissariat, calls "Quinntopia's dominance of the sporting world". The Commissariat hopes for children to be introduced to sport at an early age so that Quinntopia can more easily bring up a new generation of skilled athletes. It also hopes for the expansion of other sports like cricket and rugby to expand Quinntopia's impressive sporting portfolio.

Will Quinntopia continue to perform well on the sporting front? We certainly hope so!

IO Champions League draw held - Quinntopians positive about groups

The teams have been drawn, with many feeling that the four Quinntopian teams will do well in the competition

The IO Champions League group stage draw was held earlier today. Due to Quinntopia's victory in the most recent IFFA World Cup, the pressure is on the four Quinntopian teams to live up to their nation's footballing reputation.

In order of groups, we can now reveal the results of the draw for the four Quinntopian teams. Emancipa United have been drawn in Group 1 with Nethertopia United (of Togari), Avalon F.C. (of Achkaerin) and Ex'Litan Spiders (of Meche). Emancipa are tipped to struggle the most out of the Quinntopian teams due to the presence of Avalon F.C. in their group, since Achkaerin, like Quinntopia, boasts formidable footballing pedigree. Northania P.F.C. have been drawn in Group 2 with Spitelout Athletic (of Dartfordia), Sporting Karanack (of Dijel) and East Togatopia (of Togari). They are expected to qualify for the knockout stages.

Marantha F.C. have been drawn in Group 3 along with AC Miverna (of Valnara), Togatopia S.C (of Togari) and Berk Wanders (of Dartfordia). Like Northania, Marantha are expected to qualify for the next round of the competition with little difficulty. Finally, Quinntropolis F.C. have been drawn in Group 7. They are accompanied by Sporting TG (of Togari), Warwicka United (of IOML) and Tsort Athletic (of Dijel). Again, Quinntropolis are expected to qualify for the knockout stages without too much of a struggle.

Oleg Venedev, Chief Commissar of the Culture Commissariat, stated that he was "pleased with the draw", later adding that he was relieved that no Quinntopian team was drawn in a "group of death". This seems to be the opinion of most Quinntopians with an interest in football. Whether any, or indeed all of the Quinntopian teams will live up to their expectations remains to be seen, but Champions League fever has certainly hit Quinntopia.

So, how will the four Quinntopian teams perform in their inaugural fixtures? We'll soon find out!

Quinntopia to enter diplomatic talks with Meche

Xerxes Kaminski claimed that relations between Quinntopia and Meche are "at an all-time high"

Following the involvement of Quinntopia and other nations in the defence of Meche against the USR's invasion of the country, the legitimate government of Meche has approached the People's Paradise in the hope that it can "cultivate a lasting friendship" between Quinntopia and Meche.

The situation in Meche has coincided with a renewed Quinntopian interest in Cotf Aranye, which had previously been waning since the fall of Elpidia and the recent global conflict. Quinntopia and her CSTO comrades, as well as other nations, such as those of the CIS, have been involved in Meche for some time now and this invitation to Quinntopia seems to be Meche's way of expressing its gratitude. Xerxes Kaminski, the Acting Chief Commissar of the Foreign Affairs Commissariat, has already accepted the invitation, following a vote by the People's Assembly. He and Matthew Vinage-Sovetskie will be travelling to Meche in the near future to take part in the discussions. It is expected that the amount of financial aid that Quinntopia will be sending to Meche shall be revealed during the discussions.

Kaminski has also held an interview with CQBS reporters to give more details about Quinntopia's relations with Meche. He claimed that relations between the two countries are "at an all-time high" and that "Quinntopian-Mechean relations can only improve from this point". Kaminski has been very busy since he was chosen as the stand-in for Andrei Petnov, who remains in a critical condition in intensive care following a car crash a month or so ago.

Quinntopian troops are due to arrive in Meche in the very near future, so naturally there are worries about the safety of those involved in the talks. It is alleged that the Quinntopian delegation will be taking added security as a precautionary measure. Hopefully, by the time they arrive, the international forces involved in the conflict will have started holding the Soviet advance and pushing back their marauding forces. Due to the overwhelming numbers expected to be used against the USR's forces, the Mechean conflict should be brought to a relatively swift end once CSTO, CIS and other forces arrive.

So, will these talks be beneficial to Quinntopia and Meche? Only time will tell.
