The wind breezed by as my head rested on the trunk of the tree. The wet grass was soothing, yet I was still as alert as possible. Innocent kids rushed by, not knowing the truth of the world. Some day they would lose that innocence and become cold, heartless people. Just like everyone else in this world, including me. Screams of laughter rang from all around, but all of them stopped when a single shriek erupted. A kid was lying on the ground, curled up and hugging his knee. The cap had been scraped, and was now dripping with blood. I cringed, turning around and digging my face into tree. An irate mom covered the wound with a band-aid, sending the kid to go play some more, allowing me to turn around and look out once again. My stomach growled, but not the way a normal person's would. It was almost feeding time. A ball rolled up beside me as I picked it up. Two kids ran over, so it was apparently theirs. "Hey, mister. Can we have our ball back?" I glanced over at the bench, and saw the mom who was talking to these kids earlier had her face buried in today's newspaper. I leaned down to the kids and looked them in the eyes, scaring them with the deep red pools of blood that were staring into their soul. "Follow me and I'll give it back." They looked at each other and agreed to come, so I led them to an empty area of the park. The only living things around were helpless pigeons, so this was a good place. I stared at them once again, before letting my fangs slide out, pressing them into the ball and popping it." "Hey, what'd you do that for?" One of them asked. Instead of a response, I grinned evilly. They decided now was a good time, and ran. I gave them a slight head start before speeding in front of them and stopping them dead in their tracks. Before either of them could even think, I had an arm around each, holding them down as I proceeded to sink my fangs into the first's neck, the other watching helplessly. When I was through with him, I moved onto the next one, sucking him dry as well. Edited by Master of Grass, Jan 9 2012, 07:45 PM.

"Monstrous demon!" I was smacked in the face with a sudden dizziness as the words echoed painfully in my head. From my right sprung a glowing, winged creature. A beam of light radiated from her face, smacking me back. The impact launched me into a tree, but I got up anyway. I sped over to where the fairy was since I could now make her out, and threw my foot up to knock her back. "I'm doing them a favor," I said as her beatuiful flowing hair turned gray, and her magnificent body went limp. I breathed a sigh of relief, but then then realized that a single blow should not have been able to take her down. I glanced ack, but the corpe had vanished. A burning sensation hit my back as I fell to the ground in agony. The light creature had set it all up. She prepared another beam, but I used my speed to dodge it. "You will perish!" She shouted once more as a yellowish aura surrounded her. She charged forward to me, but I wasn't going down that easy. I side-stepped, hoping to avoid the attack, but she turned and followed. I felt a surge coursing through my veins. Power. Red sparks crackled and flew from my fist as it sunk into the fairies chest, just barely saving me. Her body disintegrated and turned to ash, and eventually disappeared completely. "What a relief," I sighed again, this time for real. A creature of the night would not have normally been able to stand up to a fairy of such as her, but then again most vampires didn't have my necklace. "Thank you, Amulet," I said to it, planning out my next feeding ahead of time. Edited by Master of Grass, Jan 9 2012, 07:45 PM.

"Pretty decent," another voice said. Fuck, not again. "That's a nice necklace you got there," he said again as he emerged from a small alleyway. "How much is it worth to you?" "Not for sale," I responded. I examined his blood-red eyes and pale skin, deducing that he was a another like me. "I guess I'll just have to fight it off you," he said smugly as he slowly slid a stake out of his coat. "Doesn't seem pretty fair," I said, reaffirming his confidence. "For you, I mean. "His smile went sour then turned into a full murderous glare. He swung the stake around before throeing it in my direction, barely giving me enough time to dodge. It stuck itself into the ground, him rushing over to grab it again. "You honestly thing you can win this?" I didn't have much time before he drove the stake into my heart, so running was my only optio. I leaped onto a small building, preogressing onto the taller ones. he was on my tail though, and I knew even runnig woldn't work. he was much older and faster. I'd need an advantage to beat him. More sparks flew from my amulet, sending another surge through my body. My speed and agility increased, allowing me to disappear from his sight. Awestruck, he stopped and search around before his stake went missing and was suddenly plunged into his heart. His impaled body became even colder than normal, again turning into a pile of ashes, sweeped away by the cool breeze. Battle approved. You've received a Unicorn. ~MoG Edited by Master of Grass, Dec 19 2011, 06:21 PM.

"Neiiigh!" Not again. Something was up. There was a reason why I was being attacked by all these Invisibles. From my peripherals I saw a gleaming, golden horn. I dodged it, only catching a glimpse of the rainbow that burst by. it's flowing mane was painted with the most vibrant colors imaginable. It let out another cry, rushing forward to attempt to impale me once again. My usual side-step technique didn't work this time around. it turned it's head, slashing my arm with the shining horn. Crimson liquid gushed from my arm. This unicorn was different. "Who's doing this?" I screamed to the sky, hoping for a response. I looked down at my wound again. This unicorn had a special horn. It was just as dangerous to a vampire as a wooden stake. One stab with this and any vampire would turn right to dust. It charged again, but this time I grabbed the horn and used it to pull me into the air and around to land right on it's back. I held tight, forcing the horn to become a steering mechanism, driving it into a wall. "Eeeeh!" It shouted frantically, thrashing around and trying to save itself. My fangs sunk into it's neck, but it's golden blood stung. I spit it out, and tried to activate my amulet, but nothing. Only one way to handle this. I ripped the horn from it's spot above the mane, impaling it into the unicorn itself's side. It's final ear-splitting screech only fazed me for a couple seconds before I realized what was going on, leaping off it's back before it's side smacked into the ground, dead. I hid the horn in my jacket, out of sight to avoid trouble but I couldn't get any of the blood. It would've been nice against some other vampires, but there was nothing to put it in and it was about time I fled the scene before the cops arrived and started interrogating me. The wind ruffled my hair. My breathing was calm and steady. Starry dots speckled the night sky, illuminating the grassy field. A human passed, clearly confused as to how I managed to get into the park this late. I turned to him, flashing my blood-red eyes, sending him running. Normally I'd be satisfied, but something was off. I clutched my amulet, sending a warmth through me that I hadn't felt in at least a century. I pulled out several slips of paper examining the text on them. The sonnen king would be meeting with the necromancer king soon. Once I was there, I could assassinate the two kings, make out with their treasure, and insight riot in the two kingdoms. Everything was going according to plan. There was just one problem. The girl. I stared at her short blonde hair, and her dark robe. Cute. Unfortunately she was going to get in the way. A ransom? Yes, that's it. Being the only heir to the throne, the kingdom would give me anything in exchange for her safe return. Even the kingdom itself. Emperor Dimitri. A fitting title for a warrior with stature such magnificent as mine. I laid my head against the wide tree trunk, letting my eyes slip closed, drifting off into an unnecessary but long deserved rest. In my dream, I was standing, but there was nothing below me. Nothing above me, and nothing on either sides. I was completely alone, surrounded by eternal darkness. "Dimitri!" a voice boomed. "I have chosen you as my assistant. If you agree, I will make you the single strongest being in the entire universe!" A tempting offer, I agreed, but I knew nothing of my visitor. "I wish to know more," I called quietly into the shadows. The darkness faded, and I was not too far from the Statue of Liberty. The area around me was completely empty, and an odd, floating door hung next to me, a stylized W carved into it's body. Without my even touching it, it swung open, a force behind beckoning me to enter. "Closer," the voice came. I walked down what seemed like an endless flight of steps, until I finally reached a wall of steel bars. The man inside was chained to the wall from all his limbs, but he weakly raised his exhausted head, two pits of golden fire staring into my soul, just as I woke up. "You OK, mister?" A kid asked, standing above me. Thankfully he was blocking the sun. It was already morning, so I had slept here the entire night. Drops of sweat flooded from my face as the kid stared at my shakiness. I shoved him out of the way, disappearing into the city. |
