For all of you that wanted Godard out there in the final 5 minutes, I posted this over at OTB, figured I'd add it here too: Not that easy for Eric to go looking for a fight. With the new rules, a fight instigator under 5:00 costs a suspension for the player, and a fine for the coach (I believe), Blake's fight was with 5:37 left in the period. Had Godard gone out the next shift looking for a fight, he would have been gone against Philly, and MAYBE the Rangers, not sure how long the suspension is. |

Look, this team does not need Cairns...thank god he is in Florida... What this team needs is a set of balls... and a coach with a set too! What a disgrace to watch this team get beat on by a bunch of pussies. Tony D. |

yawn......TGIF!!! reports on Rico is a "mild concussion" that just sucks and thank god he's OK!! I would rather a goal against him than see him like that!! I bet knowing DP was hurt made the team say "win for Ricky" and that fight against Blake was wrong....yes he did start it...it was just hard to watch 4-5 blows to the face on the guy!! snow LOOKED great!! Oh did everyone enjoy Kvasha talking to the camera? i was on cloud 9 hearing all that about him....i was shocked they were talking so much about him.... the team looked 90% better and its only going to get better from here!! |

I'm with you there PH. I couldnt stand the agony to watch that oaf trying to keep up with the speed. Look at what TB did to him in the playoffs. That would be an every shift occurance. Give me that thumbtack when you're done.
You sir are definitely in the minority. That guys hockey skills suck, always did. Only his fists work. And a note about DP. This is not good at all. You know how concussions are. If you think he'll be back in a few days.....well dont hold your breath. We have 2 huge ranger games in less than a week and I dont think you come back from mild concussions that quickly, especially in todays NHL where they treat concussions with TLC. This could go weeks. Other than that, the Isles moved the puck fabulously last night. Hunter was a great force and so was Kvasha. Yash and Satan disappeared after the first, but overall the PP looked good creating chances and the Islanders showed some good character coming out in the 3rd and putting the Caps away. |

Cairns? Here??? What are you kidding me? Nice guy - but a JAR HEAD on the ice. He even got kicked out of the ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE last season for going after a ref.... Let him get sunburn down south. He is part of history, and I respect him for it, but he is NOT what this team needs in this new era of the game. Gary |

ahh ok i was under the impression that the suspension rule took place in the final minute or 2...i didnt no it was the final 5 minutes. also, i loved cairns...and i'm not saying that he must be brought back....there are plenty of other guys in the league that do have hockey sense and can fight...we can't just rely on Godard since he isnt't in the line-up every night. |

Yes I did. You see what getting 3 assists or a goal in a game will do for you.

I love what Cairns brought to the team in the past just as much as anyone here, but really other than fighting, what use did he have? He and Orr (yes, the kid purigoon gouged) went at it about 10 secs into the game. Good heavyweight bought, though Orr DID get the better of Cairns (who ran out of gas). I didn't notice him except for like one quick shift later on. He's too slow and not a good enough skater to keep up with the quicker forwards, never was. He's an enforcer, plain and simple, a pure heavyweight pugilist. He's a liability if he's not fighting, IMO. Also, with kids like Orr hungry to keep their roster spot, Cairns better go hit the gym a bit more. He was completely out of steam 3/4 of the way through the fight. |

OK OK...I know hes not a good fit for this team but when you see guys like Blake getting their asses kicked you have to think that something needs to be done very very quick here. Cairns may not be the answer I know, but we need to find one very soon. This is not a good situation we are in. Forget the record. Fighting will always be a part of the game and intimidation is a bigger part. I said before I am dreading the next 3 games. Philly and then back to back with the Rangers. The last thing I want to see is Puriton pounding on Bates and our gus not dropping gloves and just pushing. We need a heavyweight ....quickly! |

Sterling should have played Godard more and this wouldn't have happened. Ceas... we've GOT a gorilla on skates. His name is Eric, and he'd do his job if the jacka$$ behind the bench would let him. |

We can have Mike Tyson on skates it wont matter if he doesnt play you are right. So we need someone who is going to produce...something..anything...who can be on the ice. Why is he not playing? Does anyone have an answer? |
