The reason they lost this game was 2 reasons, 1 of which I've been going on about for awhile and that's the inability to win faceoffs. The faceoff was just inside the Isles blueline. You have 2 options it would seem, Option A: win the faceoff out right and gain control and start a rush; or Option B: lose the faceoff out right but at least the puck goes out of the zone. What happens? The puck goes horizontally, stays in the zone, Habs beat our guys to it and end up scoring.

And the other reason, and I hope I don't say this that much any more, but DiPietro flat out cost us this game with his cocky attitude playing the puck. There's 2 fuckin minutes left in the game, play solid defensive hockey and be thankful for the OT point. Habs dump it in (off the aforementioned horizontal faceoff) Ricky plays the puck, and instead of just handing it off to the defensman and letting them clear the zone or skate up the ice or whatever, he tries to shoot the puck out to center ice. They pick it off, make a nice pass and he lets a in softee goal, in any case. Just a terrible play, and he almost got caught doing it in the 1st period and had to make a ave flying backwards from ther faceoff dot after handing the puck to the Candiens. He has a talent for playing the puck, he just doesn't do it wisely, and it cost us.

Now for us Martinek fans, I think I should refer to him as MarTina again cause I thought he was absolutly terrible out there. This defense is so awful right now, a move needs to be made to bring in someone else. Whether that be Gervais or whoever, they need a shakeup cause you can't rely on Zhitnik and Lukowich to carry the weight of 6 players the entire season.

However, I thought it was a good effort tonight. They are defiently playing better than last week vs. Florida and Philly. They are a better team. Satan has found a niche or something, if he can keep it up and get 30-35 goals, I'll be happy. And the hitting is getting there. Habs are a good team and we hung with them most of the night. We just couldnt play solid defense for a 2 minute period. This was a VERY tough loss, just gotta shake it off and come back strong Tuesday.

On DiPietro, the clearing attempt really didn't matter, he was all set, and in position, just got beat on a soft wrist shot.

You humor is wearing thin for me. You're a huge pessimist, and you find very little to actually cheer for. You're making it very hard to read the posts in many threads. I'm getting to the point that I dont want to log on.

Criticism of the team or players on this board is completely accepted, but we will not stand for all out pessimism. This is an Islander Fan board and the members dont want to see post after post of your personal hatred towards a player or the team.

First off lets relax with the names...you dont know me and I dont know you.

Second, I thought this was an open forum to discuss anything you want. I didnt know everything had to be positive. If you dont like the forum...dont read it. Its that simple isnt it?

If you think my points are not valid enough for you sorry if I have an opinion. I didnt know I had to agree with you or post points that apparently you like. You run a message board Webb...thats all.

If you have a board that everyone just sits on and makes postive remarks then you really dont have much discussions do you? I have joined this board two weeks ago and been a very active member. Apparently my opinions are not what you want or too strong for you to handle so I will no longer make any posts.

Caeser, grow up. No one is asking you to leave. Only to tone down your pessimissm. And I think that's reasonable. I like your sense of humour, but you do rip on the Isles more than a Rags fan! Lighten up a little, keep posting, and have fun!

But remember--we're all ISLANDER FANS here. Like I've said before: if this were a hockey dressing room, we'd lose every game because of the negativity! Let's show a little balance! Even the Columbus and Washington fans aren't as negative as this!!!
Yashin, you ARE the weakest link. Goodbye.

Oh - to have to be there and get cussed out in French... Also - to make matters worse....

Our bus broke down about 28 km's from the Canada/US Border.....

Took nearly 5 hours to get it fixed... Was fuel filter filled with water - due to bad gas bought on Long Island (if you are driving a diesel car -make sure that the gas is safe... there have been lots of problems lately.

Supposed to get home about 6:30 - didnt get home till 11:00 PM.

Good trip - bad result - but always good times on trips. BTW - the NYIBC is doing the following trips:

Philly - Sat of Thanksgiving weekend.
NJ - 12:00 game in January
Pitts - Feb 4th weekend

If you are interested, send a note to nyibctripguy@aol.com- or talk to me. Note: you have to be a member of the NYIBC to come on our trips. We have fun, and they are a great time.

Cheers,

Gary

First off, the difference in this game against the canadiens was:
the fact that our boys didn't finish enough checks and allowed too many checks to get free because guys weren't skating.
This is why mistakes happened, Canadien players were left loose in the slot and it's also why some of their guys took liberties with our players (ie: Kvasha, Blake and Dipietro).

Second, Caesar...I don't know what to say guy.

:dontknow:

I have a KODAK 7580? It is a great camera. Equivalent to a 380mm zoom. Ran me about $350 or so.
