This was a much needed win. I have to say it was the best effort we put in and the most consistent 60 minutes we've played. The 3rd period was excellent, I know because I didnt have any anxiety of the Isles blowing it. They were solid in their zone and was good to see everyone on the ice giving their all (well except maybe Satan, at one point I thought I saw Mariusz out there on the backcheck). Cudos for Oleg. He played great. I'm not even talking about his goal which was a product of putting a 6'5" guy in front of the net. His play on the defensive side of the puck was terrific and his all around effort was solid. I saw him skate faster last night than ever before, and some of his back checks were unbelievable. This was great for the confidence, but only if they learn something from it and realize it takes a 20 man effort every night. |

2nd line
|
I missed the 1st and 2nd periods so I don't know what the squad looked liked. As for the 3rd this is what I saw: Yashin was all over the ice There were a lot of missed break out passes Satan is absolutley afraid of going into the corners In the defensive zone the lads are collapsing too much Too many shots from the point The D still can't clear the puck What Forecheck? Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining a win is a win...but the Isles played a below average game against a really mediocre team in NJ. The Yashin/Satan/ Asham should have feasted on the Devils carcass last nite but didn't. Sorry Steve-O the Kvasha experiment is a bust. Move Ash back on that line so it can kick some Ash It's quite evident that there is a lot more to fix that to cheer about. But hey, I'm not complaining I'm just waiting for this Islander team to start playing smart heads up hockey with some passion and determination. |

What happens in Vegas....stays in Vegas !!!! but seriously... It was a GREAT time...The U2 show was efffing INCREDIBLE !!!!!! We went down to old Vegas on Sat. to play some cheaper tables....which I recommend...highly. We went to the Horseshoe and I played Let It Ride for 6 hours on $50...left the table with about $300 in hand...NICE. Best part about the Shoe wuz the drink service...since it's a small place...and not packed...they have a fresh drink in front of ya b4 ya finish ur first one. And $5 tables ALL day & night. Sunday wuz really nice as went spent all day betting Football...I took a bath on the 1:00 games...but got it all back on a brilliant triple tease, and the Giants straight up. Pretty much everyone in Vegas lost $$$ on the Chargers...who won but didn't cover. I'll leave out some of the more debaucherous stuff....but overall I spent a lot...but didn't lose a lot...came home w/ money left in the bank, and some in my pocket. |

I know this will piss a few people off so if you don't want your bubble bursted stop reading here. I'm very happy with the MUCH needed win. They played a very good game. However, they only managed 20 shots on goal against a team that helped us win because, from what I saw...the Devils gift wrapped that game for us with their lack of passion in their own end. This win had as much to do with the Devils failing to show up than it did us outplaying them. Satan floated last night. He had many shifts where he was hesitant. The best thing I enjoyed from this game besides the 2 points was Campoli. The kid had his best game as an Islander at both ends. |

Steve, I agree with what your saying. It wasn't the Devils from the past. But, damnit we did win. Campi impress me every game. One thing I did notice tho, I switched back and fourth between MSG and FS, and you know what, the picture on MSG is 90% better than the one on FS. Ya think shit head dolan does that on purpose, or maybe theres a technical explanation for it. I really don't care, I'm going to blame that little p---- anyway.

And I thought it was my reception. Great point. The color was too luminous on FSN where it was more stable on MSG. I will say this in defense of cablevision though... It's been very nice to have the choice of watching the game on either channel to enjoy whichever broadcast team you choose. |

Now compare those 2 to the picture on OLN...it's like a different world. SOOOOO vivid !! I checked out a bit of the Rag game on OLN last night and wuz like.."are they playing at home?" Didn't even recognize the place. |
